Very organized and clear. Even uses different colored chock, which made it a lot easier to follow. Tom made the topics covered seem amazingly easy then they actually were. Was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the subject.
He's very helpful & fun. TESTS ARE PRETTY EASY. Try to take him.
Class was a joke. I'm glad I was a PSEO student or I would have felt like I had just thrown a couple hundred dollars out my car window on France. He was really nice and friendly though. I just think he needs to toughen up a little bit. In 4 years,if you want to forget what you learned. Take Him.
Tom was super nice. I wish I would have confided in him sooner that I was struggling in 670. I came back to school after a number of years and was afraid of the professors. He is so easy to talk to and makes sure that you understand it so you don't do the old "ya, I got it, thanks" thing on him. The math center is horrible, look for him there!
he was a great teacher, very interesting, informative, structured class, good use of time, very helpful, and he was hilarious.
He is a very good teacher and explains the topics very well. Really knows his info. but take home part of his tests are super hard. He is very helpful so don't be afraid to ask, it will be more than willing and is very nice about it. He is really easy going so its your responsibility to get the info or not. He doesn't even care if you skip everyday
Mr. Sundquist is one of the most helpful, easy going professors I know. He is more than willing to help you understand the material. To get the most out of his class, attend all of his classes and make sure you visit him during his office hours for extra help.He makes it a point to get to know every students name, which is really rare.Take his class
TAKE HIM.a very smart guy,one of my nicest teachers i've ever had. He's thorough in his work and pretty easy.He gives study guides for his tests andproblems on there are the same ones on the test but worded differently. He even goes over and gives answers for the study guide so it helps u on the test step by step. he can be picky on grading homework.
Tom is a fantastic teacher! He wants to see you succeed. He is always willing to take time to work with you one on one. Take advantage of this, you will learn so much more! One of my fav teachers, he helped me regain my confidence in math.
He is the absolute best! Very smart and helpful, he offered help even though I am not in his calculus class. A really amazing instructor, his style is amazing. Take him. Although his take home tests are difficult, if you are attentive in class, you'll do just fine! :) He's the best in the Math Center too :)
I was out of math for 4 years and he made the coming back to it vary easy. If you are not mathematicaly inclined this teacher can help.
Very good instructor, best math teacher I ever had. Explains everything in detail, till everybody gets it, and there is no way you will leave class confused. Does activites to help you understand and tests are very fair for the material covered! Understandable and very, very nice! I SO recommend him!
He is the best math teacher i've ever had. I took him for a summer pre-calc course and did great. I recommend him to anyone. HE IS THE BEST!!!!
Somebody should give this guy an award. You don't have to be a math whiz to have success in his class because he explains things so well. This class seemed easier than some lower level math classes because of the quality of professing. Just a quality person all around. I Highly recommend Tom.
Very good professor. Attendence is important, he give maybe about 2 announced quizzes a week. They aren't very hard, you just need to briefly read through the section for that day. He drops about 6 scores. Part of the exams are take home, which gives you a chance to raise your grade on exams. He collects homework on the day of the test, which
I took Mr. Sundquist's finite math course online this summer. Unlike most college math professors, his format was designed in a realistic format and he understood that not everyone was a genious at math. If you do the work you will succeed in his course! I strongly suggest this professor!
Great teacher. I took him for precalc (1500). Often he had reading quizzes. He never tells you when they are so always be prepared. Tests are similar to practice exam he gives you. Some of the questions are similar. If you listen in class and show up every day, you should do well. For every test, there is a take home portion.
This teacher is awsome and so helpful. He is very easy to talk to when you need help. This guy is an amazing teacher and Normandale is lucky to have him. I would definetly recommend him. A++++++++++!!!!!!!!
Tom makes the subject matter easy to understand. He has a great sense of humor and it is fun being in his class.
Great teacher. His summer precalc is a TON of work. To succeed, LONG days of homework and study. Take notes as much as possible. Pop reading and group quizzes make classes stressful, you have to keep up. Helpful, fun, fair, clear. Does not reply to emails very fast. Frequent Group quizzes worth 10 points, so find a smart fellow student to work with.
Tom sundquist is a great teacher. He is clear, to the point, and very helpful.
Best teacher ever, let alone math teacher. Super approachable and passionate about the subject. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Great teacher. Very passionate in what he is teaching and is very helpful. I would highly recommend him.
really nice and easy to approach for questions. lots of homework and group activities so be in class
Responsive to student suggestions and requests and very helpful. Read the material before the lecture, and work all the suggested problems. Tests are fair and cover the expected material. Great teacher.
Great teacher. I have taken a lot of math classes at normandale and he was the best one. I took calc and there is a lot of work, but if you do the work, you should be fine. He is very quick at getting back assignments and tests, he grades fairly, and is easy to talk to. He loves math and I would highly recommend.
Sundquist is an fabulous teacher! I don't know how to say it in better words. He loves his students, is fair about grades, and wants to see them succeed more than anything else. He ALWAYS gets the work graded and back the next morning, and is always in a great mood. He is the ultimate teacher!! Take him if you possibly can.
Had him for Calc 1. I would definitely take him again. He provides plenty of examples during lecture, and will let you know what to focus on. He does give a quiz every week from the material at the beginning of the section, but allows you to use notes. Basically you just have to write down the formulas and what they are used for. He also gives
OMG, he is nicest teacher ever, very helpful. However, he never stops giving quizes and tests. LOL. And I love the way he gives hints to his test, it much easier to go along with his lectures. Higly recomend him to every one
Tom is a wonderful teacher in which you should be honored to be in his class. Everything is layed out for you so you know exactly what to do. If you have questions ASK HIM, he is always helpful. Go to class, do the work, study the practice exams and you will come out of his class fully prepared for the next!
Tom is a great teacher. he explains concepts very well and will give you extensions when you need them. The only thing i had a problem with is his tests are very difficult, much more difficult than the hw problems or in class ones. Still, I would reccomend him to anyone.
you will definitely love him! what an amazing professor, very nice, helpful. You won't be disappointed when u work with him. Highly recommend for all u guys
you will definitely love him! what an amazing professor, very nice, helpful. You won't be disappointed when u work with him. Highly recommend for all u guys. =))
Best prof in 14 yrs of schooling. U will never leave class confused! Extremely nice, considerate, & helpful. loves what he teaches! amazingly organized, grades come right up! responds to email promptly! Fight tooth & nail to get in his class no matter what you have to do! even if it means fighting an angry mob! u will look back at this and agree!!!
Its kinda mean when you try to compare 2 teachers teaching the same Calc I. However, I'd say Tom is much more better than the teacher I'm taking now. Tom teaches in very clear manner, an easy grader as well, and i enjoyed his pre-calc class . take his class for Calc I if you are aiming a good GPA, dont take who else because I experienced already
Tom is a great instructor! He will assist you in any way he can, has a lot of clear helpful demos/lectures posted on D2L, wouldn't try to kill your GPA or your interest to the subject with rigidity of dead lines. Enjoyed the class and like the subject more because of his clear guidance. HRecommended!
Tom is a great teacher. His lectures are clear and organized and he will always help clarify things if needed. In class tests are easy if you do the practice test. Take home tests are hard, but most questions come from the weekly group activities. If you stay on top of things and don't get behind you will learn the material and do well.
I have Sundquist for Pre-calc and calc II. He's a nice, crystal clear teacher. The only problem I have with his class is the take home exams. They are very challenging and take a lot of time to finish. Look at his online notes, do some extra assignments, go to his office hour and stay there for at least an hour/week and you will earn at least a B.
calc II is way harder than calc I, but Sundquist makes his class fun and easy. if you get a solid A in his class, you don't even need to take the final. Isn't that nice?
Excellent class, show up and take note before class
I took it as an online class. It was the best online class I have ever taken. I didn't like the group projects but it worked out in the end. I would definitely recomend him.
Great Teacher! I would look to take his class. His notes are very clear and he is very, very approachable and open to questions. Show up and do your work and you will get the grade you want. His take home test are kind of hard. Overall great teacher who tests on what he teaches. Best math teacher I have had so far.
Prof. Sundquist is wonderful! He uploads notes to D2L way ahead of time, and gives you a chance to digest them before continuing on to the next section. His lectures are invaluable, and the group work surprisingly helps A LOT.
Incredibly helpful and nice professor. Very understanding, always responded to emails in a timely manner. Very clear on assignments, follows the book in a direct and clear order. Updates grades very quickly. Just an easy-going and understanding guy in general.
He is by far the best teacher for calculus. He made it easy to understand, and the exams were a piece of cake.
Tom is awesome. He's just a really friendly, approachable guy. He's not lofty or overly-mathematical; he makes the subject matter unintimidating and sensible. And he's very fair with grading. His midterms are extremely hard and the time crunch kills you, but his final is very reasonable so it works out.
Every teacher should be like him. So energetic, so enthusiastic and always willing to help. He makes calc so much interesting though calc is hard stuff. God bless him.
Easy professor but lectures are not straight forward and requires a lot of thinking. Lots of group project about 20 points each. If you do well on your projects and homework and average a C on test you can still earn an A in his class.
He has restored my excitement in mathematics. I took his course in the spring of 2014 and came back to review him. I decided to go into engineering after his inspiration. He makes calculus so much more interesting and fun. If you attend class and the review sessions, you can get an A no problem. We got a cheat sheet on the final! Love this guy.
Probably one of the best teachers at Normandale. Tom is very clear in teaching, has online notes, lots of practice problems and gives unlimited attempts on webassign homework. Tests are straight forward and covers the pretest exactly, take homes are a good way to make up points but very difficult. Use office hours and ask questions often!
Tom is the best. I took Calc 2 with him and I cannot wait to take Calc 3 and 4 with him as well. Best professor at Normandale in my opinion. Go to his office hours if you want any more clarification, but he explains things really well in class. Do the homework, do the practice tests, and you should get an A in his class no problem.
Amazing teacher, above satisfactory grading system, examples are not imaginary but real life problems which make total sense and are easily applicable to similar situations. Each test consists of in-class test and a take-home test which gives you a week to finish the take-home part wo the time limit and stress that you get in the in-class tests.
Professor Sundquist is the full package deal! Lecture notes, practice exams, and videos of himself doing math problems are on D2L. He's very kind, great sense of humor, encourages students to ask questions, approachable, and helpful. Cumulative final with one notebook paper cheat sheet for mnemonic devices. Study and you'll do well! *Recommended!
Had him for calc 2 in the summer. Thoroughly explains everything until it seems elementary to you. His test questions were set up just like the practice ones. He always was willing to help and made everything crystal clear and left you with a full understanding. Always take Sundquist for math, he is truly the greatest professor at normandale.
very good professor, helpful, nice beard.
Tom is such an excellent teacher; hes patient, caring, genuine, and very intelligent. He is incredibly methodical in his approach to teaching and lectures very well. Has tons of excellent resources. He gives you a lot of work and there is no curve, but you will leave the class with a very solid understanding of the material.
the best math teacher ever, I took calc1,2,3 and 4 with tom and got all A's, he is very intelligent, organized, nice and humble. tom is so passionate about teaching which is so inspirational to his students. in class exams are super easy, the take home exams are kind of tricky but he is always willing to help you as long as you work hard. love him.
Took Tom for for Calc 4 in the fall, surprised me by explaining the complex material so well to the point it became elementary. Graded everything fairly and forgiving, take homes were harder than in-class exams but not harder than what's on homework. One of the best professors in the entire school. ALWAYS TAKE SUNDQUIST FOR MATH.
Tom is an amazing teacher and is always there to help if you're confused during office hours. The class moves very quickly because of that it can be hard to retain all the info. Calc is a hard class and if I had to take it again I would want him as my teacher.
I had him for calc 1, 2 and 4. When he asks the class for numbers for his examples he will scold you if you give him pi, i, or 42.
I had him for Calc 1 and I can say that he is the greatest math professors at Normandale. He provides you with many different extra materials for help. Class goes by really fast, because he teaches it so well ( you forget you're in a math class for an hour).
I had Tom for calc 2 and 3. He is a very nice teacher, in class test are exactly like the practice tests, but the take home exams are difficult. Skips a lot of steps in lectures so you have to ask questions to slow him down. Very helpful in class. Highly recommend this teacher.
Tom does a great job in lectures - they are clear and concise with both theory/proofs and then worked examples of all material. For any upper level math class, plan on being in class, studying for tests, and doing the homework - appx. 10-15 hours a week. He is always willing to answer questions and is always available. Great teacher all around.
Tom makes complex topics trivial with his in depth and highly explanatory lectures. His practice tests are extremely similar to real tests (study notes for conceptual parts). Take home tests are much more difficult but you get a week to do them. Tom is fair, great at teaching, super helpful, and honestly the best professor I've ever had, TAKE HIM!!
I really liked Tom. He was very straight forward, and if you focus during his lectures, it is an easy A. He made Calc seem really easy. Take him.
I have taken Tom for calc 2 and 3. I like the way he structures his classes. You def will not feel lost during his lectures. Everything is pretty much crystal clear. This prof has all the characteristics of a good prof.
Great teacher and probably the best Calc teacher you can have. Took him for calc 2, calc 3, calc 4 and got all A's. In calculus 4 you get 4 total group projects which came from the book. His in class test were fairly easy, but his take home test like always can be a challenge. I highly recommend this man.
Mr. Sundquist is by far the best professor I have ever taken at normandale. He's teaching style is the best he explain things so clearly. He's a very intelligent professor. his exams are fair and hes a really fair/easy grader. Take him you would not regret it. If Mr. Sundquist is one of your options don't bother looking for a better proffesor.
Mr. Sundquist is probably the best professor I have ever taken. He is super funny and gets you really involved in the material. After taking his class I fell in love with math -- thanks to him. After taking Tom as my professor I found it hard move one to someone else. I got spoiled by super fast grading, amazing clear lectures, and humor!
My class was a 2 and a half hour night class and tom really made class enjoyable. he goes into detail on examples to help everyone understand better. Tom is truly a great person and really cares for his students.
Mr. Sunquist is truly amazing. It's hard to find a gem like he is! I beg you, for your own success, take him as your professor -- for all of your math classes! You will not regret it even if math is not your thing!
Mr. Sundquist is a one of a kind professor, it's extremely rare to find a professor as caring and as involved in the material as he is. He makes sure you leave the class with all the knowledge you could possibly learn from a lecture. He grades the exams within a day and hands them back to you the next day, Take him for any of your math classes!
Probably the best professor for math you'll find here. He has a ton of resources online: notes, practice tests, and more. His assessments are difficult but not impossible, and graded favorably for the student. He makes learning and exploring Calculus (calc 2 in this case) much more doable and exciting. Really hard to not like him/complain
Tom is a great Professor and loves what he teaches! Lectures bit long tons of info is taught due to class was only T TH (5 credit) there almost homework everyday may take 10 mins to do may take 2 hours. practice exams are exactly like exam but different numbers. 8x11 both side notes on final. copy practice final with how to steps on notes!
Tom explains Calc 2 like it's elementary. Lectures are always easy to follow and his in class tests are manageable. The take home tests are challenging, but doable. Tom is an asset to NCC, take him for any class you can!
Easy A, if you goes to all the group work and reviews. it's not mandatory attendance but you will love his lectures.
He is a really good professor. He breaks down the subject matter to his students. Also he does not expect you to know everything, he will briefly go over the stuff you don't know. Easy and fair grader. Great personality. One thing tho, he is not really accessible outside of class. You better ask him questions after class or office hours.
Tom is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He is really straight forward with the information that you need to know for the tests and quizzes. Only need 80% or above on homework to get full 4/4 points . Explains things in ways that are easy to understand. Super helpful if you need extra help.
Tom is a very easy going, funny guy. He tries to make everyday lectures a bit more fun with jokes. 8-20 Questions for everyday homework assignments, some take 10 minutes some take an hour. Practice tests are exactly like the actual tests, pretty easy overall. 5 in-class tests, 5 take-home tests, one final. Group activities every week. Great class.
Great math teacher. Very organized when explaining concepts. Easy to follow. Will re-explain anything if asked. Group activities weekly but they're not very difficult. Only need 80% to get full credit on homework. PRACTICE TESTS ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE REAL TESTS - and he goes through the whole practice the day before the test. Take him!
I took pre-calculus with him, and he makes the math look easy and interesting. His step by step explanations are phenomenal, and his lectures are amazing. I hated math till I took this class with him. I love math now lol. Also very respected among the community and the students. Great professor and if you listen, you should get an A.
Sundquist has a lot of students, yet still tries hard to know your name. He gives great lectures that I personally felt best prepared me for the tests. He also gave practice test before every exam, including the final, that were a lot similar to what the real exams ended up being.
Hands down the best instructor I've had at Normandale. Tom is very outgoing and it's pretty obvious that he enjoys anything math related. I took his Calculus 3 course during the summer which meant that it was extremely accelerated. However, I passed the class with ease all thanks to Tom's teaching style. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend taking Tom's Calculus classes if you have the opportunity! He is so passionate about the subject and that comes through in how he teaches. I hadn't touched math in years, but found it easy to get back in the groove with a professor like Tom. The homework he assigns and exam study guides made it clear what was expected.
As a PSEO student, he was one of the two first college teachers I had. He really cares about the students. I highly recommend him! His class usually goes like this: He gives a lecture, and then he gives examples of problems that would be in the homework. There is a group activity every week, and an in-class test and take-home test every month.
One of the best at NCC. Explains concepts very clearly and is passionate about the material
Tom is very good at explaining things and he does really care about his students. However, I found that he assigns a lot of homework and the Take home exams are difficult. I find myself doing around 7 hours of homework for his class every week. Again, super nice guy and his lectures are somewhat interesting, but i found his calc class to be hard.
As a first time PSEO student/senior in high school, I wasnt sure what to expect. Ive always been good at math, but Tom has been a clear and effective professor when it comes to teaching calc 2. Hes very passionate about it and wants everyone to learn! If you show up to class, do homework, participate, and do the practice exams, youll be fine.
Tom is a great and caring professor. There is a textbook, but he goes over every lesson during class so you will barely need it. You have group activities every Friday and he is very good at answering questions while also allowing you to solve it yourself. All in all, he is a great professor, and I am taking him for Calc 1 and 2.
Tom is a great instructor that is genuine in his teaching and is great at teaching a class. Hes a teaches with well balanced technique that includes group activities. If you take his class its not a cakewalk but the easy classes don't teach you anything anyways.
Best math teacher I've ever had. I've taken him for Calc 1, 2, and currently 3. He's fantastic in the learning community if you need physics as well. It's easy to get a good grade. He has homework due nearly every other day, however it's online and impossible to fail. He has in class exams, take home exams, and in class group work. great at lecture
Professor Sundquist is a very well organized professor. He usually gives a lecture, goes over practice problems, 1 weekly group activity, and a take-home exam as well as an in-class exam every 4-ish weeks. This can feel overwhelming, but he is always willing to help with take-home exams and homework. I definitely recommend attending office hours!
My favorite calculus professor by far. I had a bad experience in calc 1 with a bad teacher but I enjoyed calc 2 so much because of him. He handled Covid-19 very well and made things very simple and accessible. Makes anything seem very simple and easy to understand. You won't regret taking him!!!
First college professor I ever had, every teacher should strive to be like Sundquist. He is extremely nice and approachable, focuses the class on learning instead of grades. In my class we had weekly group activities that he would help us with, they were designed to be pretty easy while still helpful. Tests were part take-home and part in class.
Amazing teacher. Probably the most organized and clear one out there. All the grades are always up to date. Amazing feedback. Top tier across the board. It's a 5 credit class, so you gotta work. But there is no negatives.
Class was online so couldn't get to know the professor very well. He was generous and understanding though. Be prepared to watch about 4 videos a week and 4 homeworks a week. Quizzes are every 2 or 3 weeks and he doesn't have tests (the quizzes are the tests). Was less work than expected for a 5 credit class.
Professor Sundquist was my favorite professor I've had throughout my entire PSEO journey. I haven't taken math in a year but his class made me enjoy math. There are definitely hard sections, but he does so much to help you understand. Exams are just like the practices, and I 100% recommend going to his office hours!
Great class! Lectures were kind of sparse with examples, so I had to use other sources sometimes, but overall good. 1 on paper assignment per week (2-3Qs, 25pts) and 3 quizzes, 1 final. About 3-4 homework assignments per week that are 10 Qs. Gives great feedback, and is very kind! Replies to emails very quickly and was reliable. Would take again.
He is tough grader. What people say is true. Not alot of work in this class. 3 exams and final exam. No quizzes. Hw eachweek online. And the written assignments each week. The written assignment its already week 3 and he been giving less points for not stating my final answer on the written assignment. Even though its correct. Its just so frustrati
Prof. Sundquist was great. He was extremely helpful in office hours, which was great because it was an asynchronous class. His mini-lectures were not boring. When studying for quizzes, make sure to look over your homework :) If you have the chance, please take a class with Prof. Sundquist! He's an excellent choice and truly cares about the student.
Don't take this professor. He's HORRIBLE. I practically taught myself Pre-Calc. His video lectures were horrible. All he did was make replica videos of the author of the textbook. He quizzed and tested you on material that wasn't covered in textbook or examples. The online student tutors taught Pre-Calc material better than him...
Great teacher, good class, hard concepts. Took it online, class was not mandatory, but I attended anyway. He posts everything (resources, notes, lectures, etc.) online. Calc is a hard concept to get into but he had office hours every day along with the lectures and he will do what he can to get you going. If you need to take calc1 he's the man.
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Class is very well organized and it is clear as to what he expects you to know. Written assignments and homework will prepare you for his tests which are relatively easy. As the class progressed, previous concepts made more sense as they were built upon. No brainer, take his classes to learn math.
Tom is a fantastic professor. He is really flexible and he really wants to see his students do well (even when we were all stuck behind computer screens). Class consisted of live zoom lectures (recorded for viewing convenience), a long homework assignment (Written Assignment) and WebAssign assignments for the week. If you can take Tom, take Tom.
An excellent teacher that is very forgiving if you're struggling. He gives many opportunities for extra credit and will drop assignments if the class is lacking. All lectures and videos were easy to follow and will give many resources to study on exams. Do anything to take his course.
Sundquist was the best math professor I had yet in college. I took Calc 1 with him back in Fall 2020 as a PSEO student and I liked how he conceptually explained everything, had great digital lecture notes and desmos examples, and was pretty accomoding with students. Nonetheless, Calculus is a difficult subject and you will need to put the work in.
Why's he rated so high? Who freaking knows. He doesn't lecture. "Lecture videos" are exact copies of the textbook or HW assingment examples. He teaches what you can already find in the textbook or YouTube videos. That's not what I paid for. Attend office hours and he makes you feel stupid. Don't take unless you want to teach yourself math.
Best Math teacher to take for higher level. Very forgiving grader and gives lots of opportunities for EC along with dropping assignments/changing exam total points to bring your grade up if the class is struggling. Very easy to ask questions to and genuinely wants you to succeed.
Sundquist is the best professor that I've had for math. He is super understanding of any of your needs. There is a lot of homework, but he lays out when every assignment is due for the entire semester. His study guides are the most helpful I've ever seen for an exam. I highly recommend this professor, as do the other people who've rated him.
I was confused a lot of the time in class. Lectures are confusing but he's open to questions. Homework is easy, u get unlimited attempts, 25% off if late. Weekly written assignments 2-3 problems, very context heavy; takes me about 2 hours to finish.Exam review is almost copy-paste the actual exam. Min 10 points extra credit if you take AMATYC exam
If you want to do homework 24/7 this professor is for you. In a week we are reviewing 3 topics, each topic has 10 homework problems(30 total) plus a writing assignment which is complicated. Exams are modified problems from writing assignment(harder variants). You are going to hate math after class with him.
It is super easy to fall behind in Tom's class. There is A LOT of homework.
He is helpful, fun, and full of sense of humor, one thing I don't like is is written assignments as they are too stressful. His weekly homework on mylab pearson interferes big time with my other course schedules. If you have trouble learning online, I highly advise take him as this will be problematic, unless you are a mathaholic
look. calc is a lot of work. you need to plan ahead or you'll fall behind. thats going to be true no matter who you take. Now, with that in mind, I think Mr. S was great. Nice, clear expectations, and his exams are similar to the written assignments. just dont leave the WAs for the last minute, and go to office hours with questions. you can do it!
Great professor for calc 3 overall, clear grading and grades more on simple correctness. Really wants his students to succeed.
Everything is laid out ahead of time so you know exactly what is expected of you. He has online video lectures with notes. They are fantastic. Very good at explaining concepts. Wonderful online skills. His classes are available on zoom as well as he posts the lecture later. One of the good ones.
To get a good grade watch his recorded lectures before class! A lot of material is squeezed into examples that for me required revising my previous algebraic and calculus 1 knowledge. Sundquist is also very helpful during office hours, which are available through Zoom. Midterms were the hardest so make sure any topic you have questions about, ask!
Really nice professor and gives a take home written assignment before the test. It's slightly harder than the test and he offers help on it over a period of three weeks. If you can understand the material on the Written Assignment, you will be in very good shape for the tests (trust me, they're so much easier than the WA). Take this class.
Calculus 2 was the most complex math class I've ever taken in my math history, but Sundquist made this class easier than any other professor would have been able to. With lots of homework and study opportunities, the tests were no problem! Thankfully, there were extra credit opportunities to improve your overall grade, which required studying for.
The way he explains four hours of calculus in less than three very thoroughly with numerous examples is incredible. Very funny too and open to questions. He clearly cares about students, and it shows; he's very accessible outside of class for help. This class is *a lot* of work, of course. For calc 2, prepare for *at least* 15 hours of weekly work.
Anybody who tells you this is a bad professor doesn't do their work. He lays out everything for you, you just have to put the puzzle together i hate math but this teacher and fingerson Patrick explain it like no other. He records the lectures, making it easy to look back and find an identical example of what you are after.
There is quite a bit of homework but that is expected since it is a 5-credit class. Each unit has 300 possible points, 100 for homework which is online and you get 99 attempts per question, 100 for the written assignment which has 10 problems but they are challenging, and 100 for the test which is based off the written assignment.
If you want to take calc and is afraid, make sure you get this professor! He is absolutely amazing and one of a kind. He takes the time to explain and records each lecture so you can review. Is very homework heavy during units, but can help average out your grades if you do bad on a test. There are also 5 tests total and 4 written assignments.
I took this class in fall 2022 and it was the most difficult college class I've taken. It's possible to get an A but be prepared to do excessive amounts of homework and speed through course content. Sundquist is nice and he was a fairly easy grader on exams. I just wish he didn't assign 20+ hours of homework per week. Be prepared to lose sleep.
His lectures are recorded. Gives a lot of help when you need it. There is a packet that includes everything in the unit, basically the test but a little harder, that you need to turn in before test day. He's pretty lenient on grading, as long as you understand the concept you'll get points. Very chill and understanding with homework.
Sundquist is a respected professor. Lectures are recorded, and it has everything you need to know. He's so easy and accommodating. He opened all the homework for my class til the end of the semester. Do your work and you'll pass!!
Very good professor. If you have any questions go to office hours, he is happy to help.
A perfect professor through and through. I have genuinely no complaints with this man. He is intelligent, witty, and explains concepts crystal clear to the point where you feel like the smartest person in the world. It is a privilege to have this man as a professor for any class. Would take again without hesitation.
I mostly learn from reading the textbook, but I liked the lectures and the challenge level of the written assignments. If you could do the written assignment the exam was easy. The hardest part was learning trig subs on my own since I took calc 1 and 2 as AP in high school and it's not on the AP exam, but he provided resources to help with that.
Professor Sundquist makes Calc 1 manageable with recorded lectures and flexible homework. Unstuck study and the free textbook are great study aids to complement his teaching style. Stay on top of the work and you'll do well.
He was an amazing professor. I took Calc 1 and struggled a lot in the beginning of the semester he has office hours every day and helps you through your mistakes on the assignments. There is online work that helps you through it and a written assignments that require a lot of time. If you stay on top of your work you will do great.
Tom is an excellent instructor. Tom presents the material in a digestible manner. He is very understanding, and is willing to extend due dates on homework as long as you communicate with him. Homework is due in a collective bunch for each unit, allowing you to work at your own pace, but make sure you are diligent otherwise you will fall behind.
He is the nicest teacher. He is passionate about what he teaches and wants to help you. Super understanding. I highly suggest building a relationship with him, he will be more likely to help you.
His a nice teacher
Thomas Sundquist was one of the best professors I ever had. I had him for Calculus 1, and coming from Pre-Calculus at the high school, he made Calculus easy and understandable. His entire lecture was spent doing practice questions, which helped you on the exam. The deadlines are also spread out, which allows you to work at your own pace.
Overall, Tom Sundquist was an excellent professor and arguably the best math professor I've had to date. He is clearly very knowledgeable in mathematics and is able to teach and communicate complex mathematics extremely effectively. Tom also has a genuine desire to help students whenever possible. Highly recommend and would take again.
Very good professor. If you have any questions go to office hours, he is happy to help
Nice teacher
the material is no joke, but he is an excellent professor. probably the best ive ever had. he is very nice and available, but you cannot get behind. complete the homework assignments, written assignments, and take notes during class and you should be fine. written assignments are very similar to the exam.
