Great guy but a really tough class. Be prepared to memorize classmates names!

Dr. Tom is the best instructor you will ever have. He makes class lots of fun and doesn't require you to do stuff that isn't related to the class. Don't have to put in too much outside work to get a good grade in these classes. Pay attention to him and take lots of notes on the structures!! A+++

He is an awesome teacher and makes you feel comfortable about public speaking. There is not too much beating around the bush-he gets straight to the point. Easy to get an A.

Dr. Tom is a very intellegent, humorous, mellow individual. His speech class is very easy, and you get used to speaking infront of the class. I will miss my speech class, because we were all good friends, even Dr. Tom.

If anyone is going to make giving a speech fun, it's Tom. Great guy. No textbook. If you are an organization freak, he'll probably drive you nuts. :-) I love him to death!

Great teacher, wonderful class. A's are had to get though. He grades based on improvement, so screw up your first speech and get progressively better. Highly recommended.

He was my absolute favorite teacher last semester. I actually went to his class early. You have to give little "speaches" almost every class basically about what you did that weekend. SO EASY

Great teacher! He is really down to earth and always tells great stories. Even if some assignment are a little difficult, he helps you with any questions you have and will look over any speeces before you actual give them and he tells you what needs to be fixed. I've taken every comm class I could with him for my communications degree.

CHECK YOU EGOS AT THE DOOR!!! I had him for debate and I saw him debate against the proof of gravity and completely slam all of the students proofs. If you're up for the challenge this class will put hair on your chest.

If you don't like wacky, opinionated teachers than Weise is not for you. Otherwise I think he was a wonderful teacher. He may kid around with you harshly, but he treats all of his students with equal respect and you can learn a lot from him even before or after class. He inspires you in every way he knows possible. Tom's a great guy!

Tom is an interesting professor. He is very opinionated and likes to pick on his student but in a light and humorous way. He's very clear with what he wants in your speeches but he has a weird grading system. Anyone who just tries can pass the class easily.

I almost want to change my major just so I can take all of his classes.His class is so much fun and he is right you get over the fear of public speaking by the end of it.I would recommend him for sure but everyone recommends him so sign up for him first because his classes fill up fast.

One of the best professors ever. If you show up everyday, this class is a breeze. Simple, straightforward teaching method, and no-bull deadlines make this class one of the best I have had.

All I can say is he is an amazing instructor. As well if you need help and ask for it he is there for you. Just show up all the time and be proactive in the class and you will do fine, and he never blind sides you on the tests, he sticks to the material..

Loved this class. There is no hw, no textbook, and no tests. There is only speeches. I do not like speaking in front of people, but he makes us do mini speeches on non-speech days and this really helped everyone in class get to know each other, and that helped me get more comfortable being in front of the class. Everyone was very supportive.

Dr. Tom is a character, loved hearing him talk about his life experiences. There is no textbook, and didn't receive any grade progress info. till the very end of the semester. But I'll let it slide cause he's a great guy. Did all my speeches and assignments, showed to almost every class session and got an A.

Dr Tom is so much fun! I'm taking him for two classes this semester. He likes to have fun, and he uses personal examples for EVERY topic and sub topic covered in the class. In his Comm4 class, we use the textbook EVERY DAY at home and in class. He only gives small assignments when students don't read. For his Comm5 class, he gives MORE than enough time and instructions for the assignments, but we don't have a textbook. Put in a minimal effort (maybe 2-3 hours/week) and you'll pass no problem!

Tom is an awesome teacher! midterm and final are take home. Speeches are 2-3 minutes (he makes it easy to speak in front of the class)! Show up to class and be a responsible student & you will do just fine!

This semester was his last one, and im so happy that i had his class. He is extremely funny, and easy going. I passed the class at the top of the class, and he uses the point system. There are five main speeches and its important that you improve the critique he gives. Id highly recommend Tom!

Dr. Weise is by far the best professor at COS. Initially I wasn't going to take this class because, let's face it , who likes getting in front of people, let alone start a debate. But I ended up taking it and I do not regret it at all. His class gave me confidence in my self and I highly recommend any of his classes.

Your entire grade is based on 4 propositions, one group project, and two debates. Attendance is not required, but the more you are in class the better you will do on your speechdebate. Tom is very helpful, he does a lot of reviews you don't want to miss, and he is always willing to help.

By far the best professor at COS. I am a very shy person. I would rather live under a rock then actually have to talk to people let alone in front of the whole class. He made it fun an easy. Would definitely take again.

I was so terrified to take a communication class so I decided to take the short version during the summer. Well, I didn't want it to end! Tom totally cured my fear of public speaking. By the second speech, I was totally relaxed and just had fun with it. He makes the class a comfortable environment for everyone and he gives great feedback.

I was terrified about taking a COMM class, but he's a pretty hilarious instructor. (Knows his stuff) This class definitely helps you overcome your nerves when presenting.

He is a good instructor, a little crude at times but is really nice to everyone in the class. He canceled class like 5 times in my semester. Make sure to listen to his feedback! He is picky on certain things. Just talk to him, give input, and be willing to try and you will do great.

One of the best teachers on campus! Doesn't come to class often but when he's not in class, it gives us a great time to practice our group speeches and just get to know our group members. If your looking to do summer school that's easy, fast, and short, I recommend Tom's Comm 8 class or any of his comm classes

I took his summer comm008 class and it was SUPER EASY! Just try your best when presenting, and as long as he sees you putting in effort to becoming a better public speaker you'll pasS. TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!

I recently had to write an essay about a time I was forced to step outside my comfort zone. Dr. Weise was always challenging me to dive deeper into the subject matter I would be debating and to examine things from worldviews other than my own. He always provided feedback and class was always interesting. Great Professor!

If you ever have questions or need help he responds to emails and is available between classes too. Gives feedback if you ask for it. Not many assignments but they're heavily graded. Be prepared for jokes in class that some may find offensive. Overall great professor.

Only 2 speeches, a couple of group assignments, written midterm and commercial. Great class. Attendance not graded just make sure your there on speech day because there are no second chances.

Everyone student should take Tom Weise during their time at COS- he is hilarious and ridiculously smart. Not many assignments, but the few that are assigned are graded heavily. 100% recommend :)

I learned so much from Dr. Weise. He expects you to act like an adult. Doesn't take role often but seems to know what students are missing when. Very good professor, and very fair.

Weise was the best communication professor at COS! He makes it effortless for the whole class. I was so comfortable with presentations and overall his presence. Attendance is not mandatory, however if you skip too many classes you will find yourself being confused about the material. Go to class!!!!

He doesnt use canvas and doesnt tell you your grade all semester but if you do everything in the class you will pass. You will have 3 speech for the most 2 minute each. Very funny and entertaining.

Professor Weise is amazing. I have learned a lot from him about public speaking. He blends humor in with his lectures. His lectures aren't even really lectures they are more just like "here's what you need to know that will help you" take a few notes...blah blah blah. And then he lets you go. I genuinely love his class. Very easy & informative.

Tom Is a great professor, he has a great sense of humor and he is easy to get along with, he gives plenty of time for assignments, the only thing negative I would have to say is he does not respond fast enough through email and he won't post final grades until the very last day and the class does not have canvas so you will never know your grade.
