Very helpful and teaches the class in a very productive manner and keeps class not only interested in subject but makes jokes to keep student happy

I had Kovarik for Calc and Discrete Math, and to me he is obviously the top most intellegent and praiseworthy teacher at RV. If you get a chance to take a class with him do. You'll laugh at him constently, and he's a great guy.
Great guy. Really interesting to talk to. If he was single I would ask him out! (his he?) cute cute cute!
Although a bit unorganized, and discombobulated, Dr. Kovarik is an excellent teacher. He is clear and concise, as well as well learned in his field. I can't wait to take another one of his classes.
Kovarik looks like Micheal Moore minus fifty pounds. It was strange because Calc II is so much harder to grasp than Fahrenheit 911
The best math prof I have ever had. If you go to class, and pay attention you will have no problems doing the practice exams which are closely related to the actual exams.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had! He does not teach, he assumes you already know the stuff, if I did, I wouldn't be in his class! If you already know what you are doing in Math then I'm sure he is great. For those who struggle in Math, BEWARE!
The gist of Kovarik is that you will either love him or hate him, depending on whether you can get used to his teaching style. His planning is erratic at times, but I always learn a lot by the end of the semester. He has ample office hrs availability, too

Dr. K is more of a mad scientist than a teacher. He can’t teach period. He is extremely smart but he is a terrible teacher, he is completely unorganized, intolerably hard to follow, I taught myself everything in this class.
Kovarik is horrible...I learned absolutely nothing in his course. He curved my grade 30 points so I could pass...that's how bad it was.
great guy, easy tests, if you can teach YOURSELF stats
Basically didn't teach the subject all too much, so if you're looking for quality, don't take him. He admitted to be teaching the course simply for the money! But if you want to get a good grade a not worry about what you take away from the class, take him now.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. He never teaches and is very unclear. He can barely handle simple math. His exams are tough and he doesn't seem to go over some of the material. He never quizes so you can't be sure if you're keeping up with the material until you get to the exams.
I don't know what any of these other people are talking about this guy was great. I would recommend him to anyone his test are easy as hell because he lets you use any notes that you make for yourself and gives you the benefit of the doubt if a problem is wrong. Make sure to check your tests because he give partial credit for a lot of things.
other than the fact hes always late and not prepared, hes a great teacher. i dont understand wh yother people insult him, he got through all the material and it was so easy to understand. best teacher ive had so far!!!
If you actually care, and actually study, and aren't a tight ass, you'll love him. Pay attention and make sure he knows it and you'll get a good grade.
HAAA!!!((lol))) my first thoughts on this man. He is so funny! I can see everyones point. It really doesn't seem like he ever teaches, but he teaches the basics. And he does admit some crazy things. But he's so cool, you hardly care.
The guys awesome. seems like some people really dont like him but you have to get used to him and you will learn fairly easy. definately a change from the traditional boring as hell math teacher you're used to. He has a strange style of teaching but I have a strange style of learning so it meshes pretty well
f'n rediculous... im sitting in the library right now having my girlfriend explain all the work to me because he does not teach it in class. he is consistantly giving work that he is not teaching in class, and i end up having to teach myself out of the book or have someone else show me. nice guy, but WORST.TEACHER.EVAR
Comedian and easy
He presents the material rather than teaches it. Therefore, I had to teach myself the material. On the other hand, he gives out prepared class notes and sample tests plus he goes through the sample tests in class. He is often late to class. Very friendly and helpful. Students either love him or hate him. Be prepared to do a lot of work by yourself!
This teacher is horrible. He's funny and all, but he does not teach you a thing, you have to learn it yourself. I recomend everybody to take another teacher
Very funny teacher and generally clear. If you read additional sections and notes he e-mails you, it's a really easy class.
bad teacher. He is funny but doenst teach a thing. He doesnt care about your grade, he barely cares about his job. He will let you out early, he'll comein late and stuff. but on the tests hes not so cool, he will fail you
He was awesome he doesn't really teach and he is funny the only thing you actually have to do is tests...what could be better then that?
Had him for PreCalc1. He taught and it was awesome. Had him for PreCalc2. He didn't teach anything. His tests were insanely hard. I asked him why he didn't teach what he was testing. His response was, "You are in college, you can learn on your own." DO NOT TAKE
I dont understand some previous comments. Professor Kovarik is one of the best professors I know. I took him because he was recommended by my friends and he lived up to my expectations. He is kind, smart and really cares about learning. Plus, he is very funny!
The best teacher I have ever had!!!!!!! For the first time I am enjoying math
he is awesome...
This teacher is extremely scatterbrained and not organized at all. He forgot papers often and had to email us homework that should have been passed out in class. He skipped around in the book saying he was only covering what was on the test, but it was a good thing I studied. His teaching method is extremely disjointed!!
he was a funny ass dude! went outside to have a cig with him once in a while.. extremely smart man, i struggled with math though almost failed. like everyone says.. you have to teach yourself to succeed in his class.
One of the best professors I've had at RVCC. Outstanding teaching ability, absolutely hilarious. Gives pre-tests so you know what to study. Would highly recommend him! Awesome teacher.
awesome professor...highly recommended..easy A...
Took Stats 1 class online. Was easy going with homework and testing timelines. Exams were just like the sample exams. Learned mostly from text, not notes. Let us take the final at home. Bottom line: if you need coddling he is not for you. If you are ok with studying on your own and like flexibility then he is great!
easy teacher
exams are just like practice exams but his teaching methods are useless for realworld applications and future use
Yes he is entertaining, yes he is funny, yes he is unorganized and a mess. However, he is the best math-related teacher I have ever had. If you come to class, pay attention, and do your homework, you will ace his class. The first class I actually enjoyed going to and I HATE math. Took Statistics 1 and easily got an A. Great teacher.
He is funny and strange at the same time. His way of teaching is confusing. His tests are very easy, but that's because they are the same as the practice tests that you do in class with him. He is always late, and he lets the class out a hour early. If you are taking an Algebra Module class, and if you don't like math, then I do not recommend him.
if you don't want to learn anything and get an easy A, take this guy. Honestly, the worst professor in the math department. I recommend Dr. Stepanova or Bendjali for any class. REALLY, his teaching method probably one of the worst in history. I really felt that I wasted my money taking his class.
Hands down the worst teacher I have ever had. Unreliable, extrememly unorganized, and just really doesn't know how to teach. He has horrible clairty and he is just flat out lazy. Doesn't really care if you learn or not, just is there to "teach" and leave.
Took him for precalc II. Already knew the material from highschool. Otherwise it would have been hard to learn based on his teaching methods. Gives study guides that help alot with the test. Very funny guy.
so foreign. you laugh at him, not with him. he doesnt teach, he tells. he barely explains anything. easy A though...
hate him...dont take him in a million years....not helpful at all...50% of the time was absent....if you care abt ur grade....dont even think abt him..!?!?
I had him for intermediate algebra and he couldn't have made it any easier. All homework was optional, he gave us pre-tests which were really the real tests, and the labs were easy as well. I found him to be very helpful, and plus he was absent almost every week. For higher level math, he may be different but he was great to have for algebra.
this man was not the best teacher ive ever had however he was probably the easyest and most funny. for anyone not interested in math but an easy grade i recommend him highly
Best Teacher I ever had. He doesnt go by the book and hes a bit crazy. But he made going over mathematical theory's fun. I really think i actually learned something in his class.
I had a hard time in this prof's online class. I really like the prof though. Calculus is tough to take online and I can't believe I was able to pick most of it up. I would advise other people to go and take the class in person rather than online.
doesnt teach. gives a few examples and sends you on your way. was never in class for more than 40 minutes. test are exactly the same as sample tests
He was a great teacher!!! Had alot of fun in his class. Very easy teacher. Dont take him though if you plan to go up in math classes. You will not understand it.
Reasonable, difficult material to comprehend, was extremely helpful, ask for help & you get answers
Took him for both Stat I and II. Doesn't use the book at all, so don't worry about buying it. Homework is not mandatory and gives you pre-tests 2 days before the test and the day before the test he goes over them. He loves talking about Walmart, so bring it up in class if he doesn't already. Oh and you are able to have a formula sheet for the tests
He was by far the easiest math teacher Ive had.I didnt learn much from him.If your looking for a good grade take him.If you are looking to learn so you remember the material, avoid him... He goes over the materials but hes so vague that you will not remember anything after the final...easy class for anyone, not recommended for math majors
He is extreamly funny and smart. Great guy. I had him for calc I and II during the summer, and recieved A+ in both. He teaches some topics better than others. He was very clear on the major topics in calc I, but not so much in calc 2. If you talk to him one on one, he is much more clearer. If you understand the HW, you should get an A+. Easy tests.
Seriously had a blast in this mans class.
I had him for an online course, so I'm not sure how much of this criticism extends to real life, but it was pretty bad. He could try to be a bit more organized and learn to communicate through email more effectively. There were also several occasions on which I was pretty sure his practice test answers were wrong.
Bad teacher. I had him for an online summer class and he was very disorganized. His lecture notes were confusing and didnt go in order and werent even organized by chapter. Could work on communication as well. He also gave a take home test with a topic we hadnt learned yet. Would not recommend to take online. Maybe he is better in person...
Much of the content was abstract and not really explained well enough, but the instructor was quite lenient on testing and did not require much. He also lends a more informal air to the class, something that is often lacking in advanced math classes.
I've taken Dr. K for both Linear Algebra and Calc II online. His style of teaching is very theoretical and found him extremely hard to follow most of the time. I'd definitely recommend doing the homework before class to better understand the lectures. On the bright side his sense of humor and laid back approach make class more enjoyable.
I have taken Prof Kovarik for all of my math. He is a good guy- great sense of humor. If you are taking Math because you have to, take Kovarik. If you are taking math because you want to learn Math, dont take Kovarik.
Was expecting linear algebra to be easy. At the end, I was satisfied with a B+. Was a very fair grader in a class that was mostly proof based. Going from calculus which is all applications to a proof based class caused me to make adjustments. You have to think more in this class instead of just practicing application problems over and over again.
Kovarik is very knowledgeable of the subject and helps explain any problem you don't understand. The first half of the course was very easy (matrices, vectors, etc.) while the second half was very theoretical and proof-based, which required a lot of studying. Take Kovarik if you need this class, he makes it a lot more interesting.
Kovarik is a mixed bag. On one hand, he's a nice guy and his classes are very entertaining thanks to his sense of humor. On the other hand, his way of explaining things can be confusing. I had to do a lot of studying for this class. Tests are generally less than ten questions and can be on the challenging side, even with partial credit.
Easiest online class I've ever taken! I failed calc. at my 4 year university and decided to take it online. He literally tells you everything you need to know and provides you with all the material he will test you on. Never met him in person but online was the best decision I made.
This class was heavily based on tests but Dr. K prepares you well by doing many examples in lecture (no theory) and giving good review sheets. No homework is collected (just suggested) so you must study on your own. His tests were not hard, short, and the department final was even easier. Funny guy, helps make the long lectures pass more quickly.
If you don't like doing homework or labs this is the guy for you. Grade is completely dependent on test and finals. 50% of grade is from final. He is brilliant professor but doesn't know how to explain material and when you ask specific question he tries to make other student explain versus himself. Basically you have to self teach yourself.
You only pass if you get on his good side. Otherwise he is honestly a little lazy and your screwed if you don't talk to him. It's a lot of notes and a class where the tests are worth your entire grade. So if you don't like tests or talking to professors don't take him.
Great professor Recommend him to everyone!!!!!
He provides lectures and he teaches out of those lectures, he is a great guy and brilliant teacher!
Professor Kovarik is a great guy. He really cares about his students and really wants everyone to pass. Although it is a math class and not everyone is great at it, he understands that and will cater to your needs and help you out. Funny guy. He knows exactly what he is doing. Take him if you're bad at math and aren't afraid to speak up for help.
Dr.K is definitely one of my favorite professors and I will be taking him again! I had him for linear algebra and it wasn't bad. It's a difficult topic, and I was pretty confused in class. but he gives reviews for every exam which help a lot and you are allowed to use a "formula sheet" for every exam. Dr.K is super funny, keeps class interesting!!
I took Dr. Kovarik. for Calc1 and 2 and he is bar far the best professors I had. He is funny and smart and outgoing. I recommend him to everyone. On negative note a bit disorganized, he improvises a lot but then he says that improv is good, which is funny the way he says that. He sure knows his math.
Took his online class for calc 2. Class was not too bad just do the study guides he gives out and you will have a good idea of what to expect on the exams. overall, a good professor and would definitely take again.
i took online stats which was good on kovarik's part, his lecture notes and ppts were easy to understand, he posted useful videos, but he took long to respond to emails. and the rvcc online class system is so utterly confusing for no reason. if you struggle with math pls dont take an online course, you basically have to teach yourself
VERY scattered when we writes on the board. He makes a lot of mistakes on examples we need to know for tests, on the board, on the test preps, on labs. Then says, "Well one of me is right. Today me or the me when I wrote that answer out." He says he will upload the corrected answers but doesn't. Energy drinks galor. NEVER AGAIN!
Easy teacher, attendance graded, homework. Study off of the labs, lecture notes, and exams and youll do great.
Retook Calc3. His study guides, labs & online notes were useful. Lectures can be disorganized. He'd often realize he solved problems incorrectly & then say something along the lines of "you get the idea." He allows exam cheat sheets & graded hw/labs for completion. I learned/passed but wish he put more effort into lectures. Relied on self-teaching
Real easy. Do the homework, labs, watch lectures etc. and you'll do fine.
One of the worst professors I've had at RVCC. Very scattered and unorganized. If I were you, I'd find another professor.
Lectures are rather poor but he makes it up with the study guides and tests that are solely based on the material
I was surprised to see others rating Prof. K so low! fantastic class, true to other reviews, he can be disorganized, but his online notes, test prep, and personality far outweigh any doubts. I also took his MATH124 course. these courses are difficult by nature, but Dr. K makes the material understandable. (And by God does this man like his coffee)
he is a very kind and flexible professor. I took stats with him this semester and he helped me out a lot. he wants his students to perform well. would really enjoy being in a class taught by him again.
Very disorganized. Lectures are too simple compared to what he tests you on. The reviews help but are completely different from the lectures. If you didn't have previous experience it can be challenging.
He just dives into lectures without explaining what we are actually learning or where you can find it in the textbook. He actually doesn't use the textbook at all so you might as well not buy it. Only things graded are labs, the three tests and the final. Doesn't explain concepts that well so the averages on the tests are super low which kills you.
Differential Equations was a breeze thanks to Professor Kovarik. Always polite, tries his hardest to clarify his explanations, and depending on your situation, may even give you extra time or a slight bit of mercy on a grade.
Just do the problem sets.
Most lazy prof I've ever had. Doesn't respond to emails that require an explanation (usually the questions that professors want from students). Notes wouldn't have been horrible if 1/3 of the answers weren't incorrect. Dodged requests for zoom meetings when in need of extra help; only pro is that he isn't a tough HW/Lab grader. 1.5/10 prof.. Shame!
Kovarik is very sweet and helpful. He makes himself available to you. I think Kovarik should work on becoming more tech-savvy, especially if he's teaching an online course. While he tries his best to give his students lots of resources (he posts his lecture notes and links to youtube videos), I would have preferred a recorded lecture.
Literally just do the assignments and go over the notes and you'll be fine.
The most adorable prof. He is a passionate man who cares about his students and will make jokes in class. Always hyperactive, jumping around and laughing. His exams are easy, do the test preps that he posts and you will be golden. Make sure to understand the concepts as well. Only bad things about him is that he is pretty lazy, ends class early etc
Avoid Professor's Kovarik's class! Pass rate in his classes is LESS then 50%, I had him for calc 1 for the spring semester 36 people joined his class only 10 were remaining to take the final, No curve! I highly recommend tacking Lance Hemlow instead- tests are curved, and he genuinely cares about students. Save yourself the stress!
Professor Kovarik is an excellent teacher. His lectures are clear and well-organized, and he's always ready to help students understand difficult concepts. Highly recommend his course!
Dr. K is a very laid back professor. Labs are graded by completion, tests were super easy (if you do his test preps, some questions will likely be identical), and he offers a ton of extra credit if you present problems from the test prep on review days. I think everyone should have the "Kovarik experience" if they get the chance to :)
...funny guy, horrible professor. Took him for Linear Algebra and just ended up learning everything on my own. He allows a formula sheet on exams but doesn't check them. He gives extra credit opportunities to help your exam grade which is the only food thing. He makes funny jokes, but don't expect much about actually learning..
..funny guy, horrible professor. He makes funny jokes...but don't expect much about actually learning. You will end up learning everything on your own. His lectures are unorganized and doesn't understand questions asked in class. I regretted even showing up to class somedays.
Nice guy, I didn't learn a thing from him. He's a nice person which is a plus for a teacher some one you can talk to. In regards to learning well I didn't learn anything which I don't mind because I subscribed monthly to a certain site that helps explain material clearly so I do not mind taking him again if I had to. I'm actually ok with this.
I greatly enjoyed taking another course with Dr. K! Tests are brief, not too difficult and he offers a lot of extra credit on them. With his help, I mastered the beautiful art of GAUSS-JORDAN ELIMINATION, and for that, I'm eternally grateful :)
80% weight is given to exams. I took this class online(asynchronous) coming from Rutgers this summer. Pretty easy and straight forward material and tests. Go over lecture notes and test preps and you'll be fine. Not hard to get an A if you try. The Professor himself is very nice and approachable.
Dr. Kovarik is a very sweet person and pretty good teacher. My course was online so hard to say how he is in person but I loved his online course. Calc was hard for me and I came for his office hours nad he really went through and explained all to me and helped me understand stuff for the tests. I took him for Calc 1 and Calc 2, would take again.
He's a great professor and knows his math. There was always that one problem on the test that wasn't on the review sheets, be sure to examine each chapter of the textbook. I would take him again
Prof. K can be a bit disorganized, but his online notes, test prep, and engaging personality make up for it. Leveraging ChatGPT and Unstuck study helped me ace the course. Definitely take this if you're up for the challenge!
Honestly, I love Kovarik, yet he's very disorganized and rushes through lectures. If you're good with theory and few examples than you may fit his teaching style well. If you don't, you will gain nothing from his lectures and feel kind of lost. He's not a harsh tester or grader so it's not the end of the world if you don't get it, just study.
The most inspirational, funniest and enthusiastic professor ever! Dr. K will make you enjoy studying math and will crack the funniest jokes. Definitely take him if you're looking for a professor who cares about his students!
Most bizarre class I've ever taken. At first he was hard to understand, but you get used to it. His lectures are all over the place, so go through his lecture notes while he is teaching to better understand. Provides plenty of extra credit opportunities. Goes over basic problems, but has hard questions on exams. u'll need to try; good guy tho.
Super sweet man who really wants his students to do well. Gave extensions for everything (even tests) and allows formula sheet. Lecture notes are pretty confusing and only assigns a couple youtube videos to teach us but pretty easy to figure out on your own. Responds to emails fast, gives partial/extra credit on tests, willing to help you out.
He is very patient with the students, goes over certain subjects as many times as needed for everyone to understand and has no issue helping. He's very understanding and lenient, he let me take a test 2 weeks after at the testing center when I sent him an email about the reason why I was absent and couldn't take it, great professor!
Dr K is an okay professor. He tries his best but for me it was hard to understand. You'll most likely be teaching yourself. After a point I don't understand what math he is doing. Although nice person, teaching could be better but tries. Also grading speed is decent. Lets us use strictly matrix calcs on exams however. I would take him again.
Just a chill guy who does his job, Understanding, VERY lenient but don't take advantage of that. Will give you extra time to study if you need it. I was worried but I enjoyed his Calc 3 class online.
