he loves pop quiz. have to be on time. sometimes he locks you out.
'A' students getting 'F's. Does not present tests in the format the material was taught. Mumbles and is hard to understand. Works problems out on the board too fast and sounds annoyed if you ask questions.

He is the worst professor i ever had. He makes too many mistakes during lectures, and he expect people to fail from the beginning of the semester. I would not recommend taking him. He doesn't even curve the test.
Not an Easy Teacher, but not a hard one as well. I thought he kept the class interesting, as interesting as an accounting class could be. Knows his material, and knows how to teach so that it sticks.

Challenging class. But after passing this class, every class I take after is cake.
This teacher is not student friendly. He is mean and makes you feel dumb. He is too anal.
The professor is unfriendly to students. He showed favoritism to a few students that he liked. He like mumbling during lecture.
He was annoyed if students had questions. He is not helpful at all.

likes to fail students, curves final, grammar frieck, students repeat his class even 3 times before passing
His class is super tough, and he is not student-friendly. He is the only professor teaching 402 right now, which leaves me no choice if I want to graduate. I would not recommend him to others.
By far, the toughtest class I have ever taken in my life!!! Careful guys.... he's the only one teaching ACC402.
Very unfair. You could have a great grade one day and once you take the final, watch out!
This guy is more interested in trying to prove that he's smarter than a bunch of college kids, then actually teaching. Whether he knows his stuff or not, he doesn't have the patience or ability to actully teach the subject effectively.
He's not mean. He is anal. He is student-friendly. You just need to get over his reputation and approach him. He'll literally spend hours with you until you get it.
This was the most humiliating experience ever in my university career. I had a solid c going into the final and wound up with a D and had to retake (2nd time different professor and did fine). He gives te departmental final and his own...IMPOSSIBLE to finish and he makes you guess instead of turning in unanswered questions!
His family tree should have a new last name - Moron. It sounds like his personality - Dr. Moron instead of Dr. Moores.
Good class. His lectures actually help alot on the exams. Just keep up with the class and you'll be fine. Final was excruciating though. Do the homework and visit his website. It helps alot!
Tommy Moores is one of the most reasonable professors I've had. Although sometimes impatient, he explains things really well in his lectures, and if you ask a question, he usually knows where you're going with it--but his quizzes and tests can be a little tricky, with either vague multiple choice questions or unanticipated topics.
provided notes ahead of time so it was easy to follow lecture, was more than willing to work with me whenever i needed help....even went over the assignments with me...best ACC prof!
I took this guy's class and failed so miserably on the first test, I decided that I would aviod this guy like the plague. I still have nightmares about this guy.
Dr. Moores is hands down the worst professor that I have had in College - or even High School. He's not clear, unwilling to help, cocky, condesceding and all around a terrible professor. He should have definitely thought about a different career - Maybe it's not too late Tommy - do us all a favor.
He is the worst professor I ever have. He is unfriendly to most of the students. Students will always remember the ugly side of this professor's personality
He needs a life. He has something against students who major in Accounting. I think he's afraid we'll make more money than him.
I had to take him for two semesters back to back. I think he is a jerk. He knows what he's doing and explains as best he can, but his personality leaves a lot to be desired. Out of all the professors I've had, he is the only one that I can say I hate!!
For those who need to take him back and back are "suck". I took him in summer 2004, I had an "A" in the class. People with bad grades because they don't know how to study. May be they need to change their major to something really easy for them. God Bless!
I got an "A" in his class but he made me realize that Accounting is not the profession for me. I changed immediately even though I took other Accounting courses. Accounting DOES suck!
For the person who assumed that people took him back to back because we failed--you're wrong. I took him for two semesters, different classes and got A's in both. He is still a jerk and maybe you need to take another English class.
He is a very good teacher. Sometimes he intimidates some people, and comes off as a jerk, but he is a really nice person. He just expects more out of students than they are used to at UNLV.
Take this class it was alot easier than any of his other classes and he's alot more relaxed, he is our only full professor in the acct dept. so that says he's doing something right, he just expects more from students, especially if your major is acct.
I think UNLV needs professors like Dr. Moores. To be honest, UNLV does not have the sharpest students and Dr. Moores ensures that the people who graduate with an Accounting degree are not idiots.
He is a great professor at UNLV. UNLV needs more professor like him. For people who fail his class, they should consider changing thier major.
He is a great person. He is very helpful.
We all know that accounting is the most feared class among many business majors. This tends to create cocky accounting students. Well, they met their match. Dr. Moores is the porfessor who put them in place. I like him alot execpt I noticed that when we visit him in his office, he tends to be more helpful when I have my female classmate with me.
Expects a lot out of students. Wish more teachers were like this at UNLV. Tests were fair-- you just have to catch on to his style, do the work, and you'll do fine.
There isn't much to ACC 301. You spend most of your time doing the SUA project. He seems alright...I heard he tries to seperate the accountants from the non-accountants in ACC 402.
My favorite teacher so far at UNLV. If you are an acct major you want to take him, you will learn alot for the next classes you need to take. Non-acct majors need to stay away, they will be confused and annoyed with him. Wish i could take him every time.
After all the horror stories I've heard about him, he wasn't that bad after all. He might have this aura of "jerkiness" around him but he explained difficult concepts as clearly as possible. Are his tests hard? Sure, but that's because the material is hard. He might rub you the wrong way, but you'll at least like him as a teacher.
The best! Moores does his job and does it well! Exams are straight forward and fair. If you are serious about acctg, you should take his class. Thanks Dr. Moores, I really enjoyed your class! Quick grades and responses to questions. I will take him again for other Acctg classes.
His name is Charles (Tommy) Moores, there are two listings for him on this site. The material was difficult and there was a lot to cover in a summer session. His class was hard but fair. I would not advise taking this class if you do not have a lot of study time to devote to it. He was knowledgeable and was available for help if you wanted it.
Tommy. do everyone a favor and lose the attitude.

Bad teacher. Too much talking about personal life.
Very straightforward on exam, although there's only been one instance where he put on the exam what he glossed over in class. Has pop-quizzes randomly, and lots of assigments, but he staggers them so you're not overloaded.
The material is tough, his tests are hard if you don't understand the concepts completely, but he's a good teacher. You'll learn a lot in his classes and he goes in to detail unlike some other accounting professors. If you take notes in class and understand them, you'll do fine. The final is brutal though. It dropped my grade from an A to a B.
I heard he was an awful teacher but I had no idea what a horrible professor could be like. Doesn't care about students.
He is one of the best professors I have ever had. Although he demands a lot from his students, he makes very clear what he expects and how it needs to be done. All material is straight forward. I would definately take him again.
He's an alright professor. Really straight forward with the material, as long as you keep up with reading and hw, you should be fine. He demands alot of your time to the class. If u r too busy, dont take this class!
very bad professor, I don't know why UNLV hire the people like that?
Very very bad professor. UNLV makes lots of money because of him. Half of the class have to retake the course.
He was snooty and demeaning but the workload was easy. He was organized. If you take good notes in class, you'll do well on the exams. The homeworks and projects will help make up for failing grades on exams.
Great Professor, very difficult but needs to be, Accounting at this level is difficult. Class was well organized, great teaching style. Really prepares you for whats to come. If you want to succeed in accounting, take this guy.
I must agree with the previous rating, I was also in the summer 08 class and I earned a C. I wish everyone could read the emails Mr. Moores sent the students. He has no people skills. He told the class he has been teaching since before we were born so we were no one to question him. Nice to be a teacher and be on vacation at the same time!
I took him for Summer 08. I got A in this class. Out of 4 tests, he did agree that 2nd test wasn't fair and gave everyone a fair chance to make up the grades they had lost for 3rd and final exam. I thought the class HW was too long to finish but in the end it did force me to study. I will take him again.
I took him for online ACC 201 Summer 2008 and I got an A. Although he was a little rude with his emails to his students, he still showed some care when he "fixed" the grading procedures on his exams, as he agreed that one of the test was too long. If he had not done that, I would've gotten a B and pissed. But, now I am happy...
If you are a member of Beta Alpha Psi, you will be fine in his class as he blatantly favors them. Otherwise, you better take upper division courses with another teacher; such as McCaslin. I wish I had taken this class with him instead of Moores.
One of a strangest kind of professor I had in UNLV. One kid sit in the back was closing his eye and He walk up to that kid and yell at him to wake up...very weird...in some neightborhood he might not survive long to yell at student like that...he favor beta people too...
This professor does everything he can to give his students the tools to pass the tests. You are given old tests to practice and his outlines contain everything you need to know. You need to attend this class to get notes because the book is not used almost at all. You should realize when taking this class that it is SUPPOSED to be difficult.
Prof. moores should realize he is teaching at university not high school. I was in that class last semester and yelling uni student is uncall for. In his second test, one problem worth 70 point from just one chapter.Other three chapter look insignificant even though they are more important in real world. He need adjustment.Other than that he is OK.
If you have any other choices, don't take this Professor. He likes to supprise students on his exams. He tests students on materials that he covers in 30 seconds, and he knows how to make classes boring. He grades exams twice as hard as professor Mccaslin. You can be a "A" student in Professor Mccaslin's class, but a "B" or "C" student in Moores'.
Take McCaslin! For the love of God, take McCaslin! I agree completely with what the student below me said. Also, McCaslin gives you a lot of opportunities to make up points by giving you easy research assignments, quizzes, and homework. Dr. Moores gives you these opportunities, as well, except he grades them just as hard as the exams!
Ok I agree with what the last 2 people said. McCaslin gives you partial credit on exams and gives you many assignments to get points. Moores grades WAY harder than McCaslin on tests and there is NO partial credit (although he says there is). All assignments are graded hard. He doesn't like when you ask questions; he doesn't help you if you ha
There is no doubt that this class is difficult. I am an "A" student and I worked hard in this class. I also realized the class greatly helped me prepare for the CPA exam and a future in accounting. Since the industry is not easy, why should the degree be? Ever notice that the negative comments are written by those who cannot write? Interesting
Very hard on grading exams and assignments.Be sure to double check your score because he always adds up wrong.Unfortunately,he's not willing to change your score even that's his mistake!!He does not help students to learn, but makes it harder for you to understand. He's not happy if you ask questions.Do not recommend him at all!
I took this class a year ago. This is probably the hardest class I have ever taken. You better be ready to work your butt off if you want an A. Allthough Moores is very difficult, this class being so difficult was one of the reasons I passed the financial reporting section of the CPA exam with a 93 my first time.
His class was difficult, yet fair, as he gives you everything you need to succeed. You must really work hard at earning the grade you want (but then again F's come easy). There are no 'gimmes' in this class, but that is the way college should be. Greatly increased my ability to analyze transactions, as well as my general accounting knowledge.
Professor is extremely helpful and he is interested in our success. He takes the time to explain things and will even meet outside of class if you're having a hard time. I recommend him!
Dr. Moores isn't as scary as some students (or he) would have you believe. He's a pretty cool guy and he knows his stuff. Make sure you go to EVERY class, I feel like I would have gotten lost very quickly if I hadn't. The class is hard, but definitely not impossible. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of time on this class.
Ok, i took this class last semester having a pre conceived notion in my mind that he is a hard professor. He is extremely helpful and explains pretty good, you need to 60percent average on exams to pass, study the past exams he gives you, they help a lot, i am not a smart student but i pulled an A in his class, just by focusing on the past exams
To be honest and fair, Dr. Moores is not terrible like some students described. As a college student, we have to challenge ourselves to learn something out of each class. This is not a memorization class, you need to apply your knowledge and work things out. Push yourself and study smart if you want to make a profession out of accounting.
I recommend not missing any classes! Dr. Moores is very good at explaining things and his lectures/notes are great! The class isn't easy, but if you attend every class and put in the work, it will pay off. He can be inflexible sometimes, however as long as you follow his rules, you should do just fine. He's very good and helpful. I recommend him!
Tough but fair, unlike 401 there were no "tricks". His test are straight forward...you have to be a blue ribbon student for this class, preread the chapters, do all the homework (it helps alot), comb through the outlines (it helped GREATLY on the multiple choice and short answer), look at past exams...DONT MISS CLASS!
Dr. Moores is very helpful, if you ask questions that show you're listening and want to learn. He is not the typical professor, but is nice once you get to know him. I studied a lot, attended every class, went to office hrs when needed, emailed him ?'s and ended up with a B (I got probs wrong where I knew the correct answer-tests are high pressure)
He is extremely rude and degrading to his students. He thinks he is God and that all students are not worthy of his time. Do not bother asking him questions unless you're just reiterating what he said as he will either scoff at you or answer the question he thought you were asking. Tests are difficult and homework is outrageous. Avoid at all costs.
He's a fairly tough teacher, but he does prepare you if are interested in studying accounting. He can be kind of crazy at times, although he is a very good teacher. Final exam is easy compared to the normal exams
The problem I had was the timing on exams. They were not long enough for my brain. I like to think and then double check my answers and there is no time for that on the exams nor on the final. I went into the final with an A and after the timing problems I had on the final, I ended with a B+. I don't feel like that was fair as I knew the material.
If you enjoy PowerPoint lectures then look no further. Chapters are usually 40-50 pages. He just narrates the PowerPoint with mild explanations and rarely gives examples on the board (examples are in the notes). The lecture notes are available before hand via download and you fill them out in class. Speaks pretty fast. He encourages asking Qs
Tommy Moores was my professor for ACC 402/ What ever you do, DO NOT TAKE HIM! The book is only good for the homework because he never follows the book. If you do what the book says and not what he says, youll get a D on the exams. The worst experience at UNLV so far...
It is a difficult class, which was to be expected. He spent most of his time telling us how easy the material is and how it shouldn't be a problem. It was difficult and when I reached out for help, he said no. He is an okay teacher but don't ask for help, because he doesn't care.
Worst professor I have ever taken. He doesn't help outside of class, just tells you that you're doing it wrong. Gives past exams to study for your exams but they are nothing like the exams. Homework is nothing like the exams either. I would avoid at all costs, but the other 402 Professor is just as bad. He is also very disrespectful when you ask ?s
No comparability between exams from semester to semester. Provides previous years exams as review material but theyre useless because current exams are entirely different. Will spend the entire time doing one thing then put on the exam something you barely covered. Frequently gets mad bc class doesnt remember something specific from acc 400/401.
Homeworks are super long and have nothing to do with test. Super lecture heavy but they're concise and easy to learn. Super responsive outside of class as well.
