Very disorganized teacher. Late to class everyday, very confusing as to what she expects from you.
very bad teacher
Instead of actually _teaching_ the class, she just assigns lots of group work. On top of that, she tends to leave for long periods of time during the class.
teaches in a very high school like manner --which is a bad thing. the material never really gets across to the students, and most class periods are a waste of time and energy. horrible.
do yourself a favor and find someone else to teach you write well..
This a very BIASED and disorganized teacher. We did not even use our $50 books, and I learned NOTHING from her class. Very boring, and always late... (usually always arrives 14 mins after class was supposed to start).
Relatively easy teacher. You wont learn anything however and she is chronically late. all we do for the whole quarter is a few ungraded group presentations and an followup essay. come thirty minutes late if u want!
easy A, but you'll end up feeling like you didn't learn anything. shes late all the time and gives the same easy group projects that's not even graded. if you want an easy A take dis class but if u want to earn your grade and learn a bit she aint for u
SHE SUCKS!!SHE IS ALWAYS LATE, SHE ASSIGNS SENSELESS GROUPWORK AND ESSAYS WITH NO REAL MEANING OR EXPLANATION BEHIND THEM. I DID NOT LEARN ANYTHING! AND ONE MORE THING IF YOU STILL INSIST ON TAKING HER: DON'T BUY THE BOOK, IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

she flakes on her students. i made an appointment with her and she never showed up!!! when i saw her the following week she said oh i was busy and i forgot. what kind of professor is that!!!?!?!
Shows up late to class and is not at all helpful. She never brings her papers to class and she will ditch the class for half an hour to an hour. DO THE ENGLISH REWRITE. I got an A just showing her the same paper that I got a C on. =/
this teacher doesn`t diserve to be in DeAnza, she claims that she is a Doctor but she doesn`t know anything she grades essays without reading them. the class is ssoooooooooooooooooooo boring even if the time of the class cuts in half but it still boring,

Seems to favor past students. Teaching and grading methods are highly quenstionable. Excessively tardy and absent. She missed 3 lecture days in a row. Took 9 weeks to grade 1st paper. Horrible!!!!!!!

Dr. Forsyth is a very good teacher. She helps you on your public speaking skills and your writing skills. It's true she does tend to be late, but she is willing to help you out when you need to ditch class. Her grading is reasonable lectures are clear
I got A's on both of my essays and a B on our group presentation, but I didn't learn a damn thing. She was constantly late to class and graded my papers without giving any feedback AT ALL. Don't waste your money or time on her class.
THE most disfuctional and unorangized teacher I've ever had in my life. She's biased on what people write and doesn't give a clear explaination of what she wants. She grades essays while people were giving presentations, enough said.

She will be late often if not always, and doesn't seem to read papers. Do not take if you like English or are majoring in English. Expect group presentations and individual essays. Great if you dislike english and/or want an easy A, though..
I don't know how I passed both classes because really, I slacked off and didn't even bother writing my papers really well. She's nice but she's one LAZY teacher. Now I know that she DOES favor past students because I got an A on both classes! EASY A!!!

Not hard but very boring. She makes you do a lot of stupid presentations which she doesn't grade at all.

this teacher sucked. i learned absolutely nothing. all we did was talk about and presetn the news. the final is on a book we never discussed. if you're looking for a class where you don't have to think she's ok. if you want to learn, go elsewhere
I learned nothing. How is this supposed to prepare us for anything? Her grading sucked.I wrote one essay I know nothin about and got a "C". Then my 2nd essay I totally knew the topic, and I still got a "C". She sucks, shes late, and teaches you absolutely nothing, except how to waste time.
I enjoyed the class, the teacher, & the work we did. I even got an 'A' in the class. But she did waste alot of our time. It was a 2 day-a-week class, & there were plenty of days where we just sat there & "discussed" our presentations.
Really, just never take any of her classes. She doesn't know what she's doing half the time. Very disorganized and she doesn't return much work. She makes us do hella dumb presentations. A waste of time.
Avoid this teacher! She is by far the most useless and worthless teacher i have ever had in my whole school career. Her grading system is BS! If you do take her class make sure you sign in on the roll sheet EVERY CLASS MEET. I was in class but missed roll sometimes. This dropped me one full grade!
All those who said Dr Forsyth is a no good teacher, u'all need to be ashamed of yourself. She's a very good teacher who gives you all the opportunity you need to get the best grade you can. She gives you everythingf you need to ace the course. So if you don't, blame yourself not the professor.
She is a nice teacher. I like her and the way she taught. She doesn't push you to learn. The environment is free and the assignments make you learn many things. It is very interesting! Some teachers like to judge you, but Dr. Forsyth lets you to be yourself.She is not subjective like some others.

I didnt think this teacher was too bad, and I enjoyed the class. Throughout the quarter, all we did was get into groups and did presentations. It was pretty easy, just as long as you showed up. The thing about her is that she is almost always late to every class, and sometimes seems a bit unorganize
she is a very good teacher. you have the problem if u think she is bad. she is willing to help u if u ask her. she will teach u what u should write in the essay, how to get an A. i got a D+ in the first essay andi got an A in the second one after i request her help. if u get a C and didn't ask any help, that's wt u worth. i believe her to be a esay
Always late and then runs over in time. Unorganized. Cancels classes; sometimes for total week (two day week)--I PAID FOR THESE CLASSES! Angry at men. Mad at Bush. Men (only) not allowed to wear hats in class. Takes ages to return work (that's IF she does). Something wrong with her grading system. I think she browse instead of read. Big NO-NO.
I did not find her to be a good teacher in my opnion. She was always late to class and would often leave during class. She would often ask for re writes on papers and then seem to not re read the paper only grade it. I also felt that her class was to easy for a college course. It seemed to be more on a high school levle.
She was unorganized, unclear, never one time, and those stupid presentations were pointless, especially when you end up doing 3/4 of the work because you are stuck with partners that don't turn anything in. But the grading system was the worst, made no sense at all. Avoid taking her if you can.
if you like teachers that dont really teach, take her, she's perfect. mostly easy group work for quick presentations. not too much homework & she gives more than enough time for them. no tests, only a couple essays where she requires 600~ words, double spaced & 16 font arial! she is a very easy grader and doesn't teach much.

i like her but her system drives me crazy. We were suppose to write 4 essays, a reseach paper and a final. At the end of the quarter we only turned in 1 essay and the final. Not a lot of reading or homework. But at the end of the quarter, i couldnt measure whether or not i was an A, B or C student... 3 1/2 weeks later, i find out Im an A student.
Dr. Forsyth is about all you'd want from an english teacher if your not an english major. It's more of a fun, laid back political discussion/ presentation class. It's not bad at all. I thought it would be worse, but in fact I'd take her again.
My first essay I was totally into and I got a RW. My second essay I pulled out of my butt, and I receieved an A.I'm pretty sure she grades without reading the paper. She is always late or absent, always clueless as to whats going on, and worse of all uninformative of whats to happen next. Not to mention the 30 page greensheet... avoid this teacher.
Quite possibly the worst teacher at Deanza. She claims that she teaches other teachers but this is ridiculous. You will not believe the BS you have to endure while in her class. She doesen't even read your papers, just browses them during presentations or just grades them in front of you! She gave me back my first essay one day before the Final.
Im a Journalism major, I can tell you confidently this is the worst teacher Ive had a Deanza. She does not teach. Makes us do busy work which she doesn't even grade. Lots of pointless presentations and throughout all of them she grades papers! I pulled a "B" in her class but Im warning everyone that she is disgraceful! You don't learn ANYTHING.
A non-English major's dream. easy A. She only reads the thesis and the topic sentences when grading. She gets sick and doesn't show up to class when it's cold (i recommend taking her in winter) and is sometimes tardy. the class is a joke. we wrote 2 essays and read one book for the final. more of a Political speech class. just do the hw and show up
De Anza has it's fair share of clueless liberals and Ms.Forsyth is no different. If you disagree with her point of view good luck because she is biased and does not even listen to the opposing side (then again when has a liberal ever listened to anything but themselves). She is always late to class and is very boring to listen to but an easy A.

Every professor has his/her own teaching styles. For the one who has bad experience in this class, maybe it's because Mrs Forsyth's teaching style is not for you but it doesn't mean that this is a bad class. I actually enjoyed this class very much. It's fun and relaxing. Just write your paper properly and you will get good grade. It's that simple!
Very nice woman, but she's on her last legs. I agree, most all of the criticism is justified. Our class was pertpetually behind schedule. We wrote 2 essays plus an in-class essay for the final, but only got the first paper back before the final - didn't get the second paper back until *after* the final, which didn't help at all.Can NOT recommend
Do everything she asks for on each paper. If you have all the components she is looking for, you're guaranteed to get atleast a "B"! 3 group presentations which I think were a waste of time, but the class was easy overall.
Class work consists of 3 essays (2 HW + 1 in class final), 3 presentations (2 based on your essays + mock trial), and lastly OP/ED articles brought in to class on a weekly basis (participation). The class is pretty easy if you do the work. She tells you how to structure your essay and if you follow it, the essay rights itself. Low textbook use.
Not so hard. Only 3 essays (1 in class)and 3 presentations. OP/ED articles on the first class in every week. If you do everything following her instructions, that will not be a hard class for you!
She is pretty nice, but she is really strict on attendance. She will not give you the grade you got in the class if you missed three absences. She also does not let you make up quizzes and work that is due on absence. She never lets us out early and lectures are SO boring. one pro, she's a SUPER easy grader.

This teacher did not teach anything in her class. She expected us to know how to do all the assignments from prior experience. I kinda regret taking this class because it was very, very confusing and..difficult.
I feel that I didn't learn anything because all we did was discuss and write about current events/issues. There was very little discussion on how to write papers. There was also a lot of group work which I found annoying. Very strict attendance policy. She dropped anyone who missed 3 classes. Overall not a hard class though and pleasant teacher.
At least ten minutes late every day, unclear directions. Did not learn much from this class that I didn't already learn in jr high. She tells you what she wants in her assignments if you ask, but overall the class felt like a huge waste of time. [assignments = 3 essays, 500-600 words each, very few in class assignments
I had to take this class right away in order to finish my GE requirement for transfer. My enrollment date was so late there is no slot available in other sections. Her teaching style is ludicrous. I took a gamble and I failed. I have a much better chance of surviving a russian roulette than passing her class... Thanks for the delay Mrs. Forsyth!
Don't expect she'll return your phone calls or email even if she gave you one in class. I have been trying to contact her when I found out I failed in her class which is ridiculous. There is no way of tracking your grade status because she's so late in checking essays and assignments. We have to take essay #3 not knowing the result of essay #2.
If you want a distance learning class then this is definitely for you because that's how close this class is. You get no points for perfect attendance, group work, assignments, and a short quiz because all that matters are the 3 essays. I have an A on the 1st essay (don't know the next two) and everything stated above yet I got a failing grade.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had. She is hypocritical, unclear on her directions, claims she said things that she didnt, pulled power trips, and made no comments about the content of my writing, only about the slight problems with formatting, for which she harshly marked me down for. Not Incomprehensible, but if you pay a little more attention to detail, you'd be able to understand her madness. It's that she has absolutely NO organized way of teaching. She gets caught up in the topics and moments. She's not a bad teacher, she's just unorthodox. And its pretty easy to pass the class if you do the work.
I had fun taking the class. The whole class is based on group work. So if you don't like group work, you wont like her class. If you do the work, and show up, you will pass.

She is fine teacher, very scatter brained. Do Op/Eds and essays and you will be fine but you must stick to her format for essays or she will take points. She does pick favorites but if you do the work you will be fine.
OMG! She is terrible. Don't take her. She is never on time, she isn't clear about assignments at all,she runs on about the same topics all the time,she likes to hear herself talk so much that class rarely gets out on time and we hardly ever use the 3 textbooks we had to buy. By far the worst teacher I have ever had,seriously!
She lets you re-submit papers if your not happy with your grade (easy A if you try). As long as you show up every class this is an easy class and she lets you know exactly what she needs from you and her plans for the qtr up front.
She is kind and intelligent, and possesses a twinkle to her eye that makes her seem all the more wise. However, as a professor, she doesn't rate so high. I would associate her with the words disorganized and easily distracted. Her approach to teaching is unstructured. I felt it was an easy A, but I do love English. I did not enjoy this class.
Dr. Forsythe is an Outstanding Professor. (She's fair, provides high quality student experiences & is as kind as she is smart.)
