I LOVED Toni. The course has 3 assignments every week, they're kinda busy work but they're easy points. She gave out a decent amount of extra credit and she's really fun so lectures were never boring. Exams were moderately difficult, but if you read the book you'll do just fine.

Toni is super passionate and makes learning nutrition enjoyable. Theres a lot of points in the class and you don't have to work too hard to get an A.

FSHN 120 is a great class to take! Toni is great at helping students understand content. She is very accessible and uses real-life examples and analogies in class. I absolutely loved professor Burkhalter's class. As a humanities major, I found FSHN 120 to be not only incredibly interesting but also very helpful. This class is a great class to take for a science gen-ed. Toni sets you up to do well in the class and she makes sure everyone has the ability to get an A. If you do well on the assignments each week, go to class and actually listen and study for tests you're sure to do well and actually get something out of the class that will impact your health.

Toni is the best! She is so helpful both in and outside of class, and actually makes lecture interesting and go by fast. The workload for this class is light (about 30 min a week), and test questions come straight from her PowerPoint slides. To pass basically you just have to do EVERY single homework assignment (three assingments every week) and then go to EVERY single lecture. You don't even have to do well on the tests. I didn't go to her class the last two weeks of school because apparently I'd already gotten an A. Show up and pass.

Professor Burkhalter is one of the best professors at the university. As a history major, I really loved this class. This class has so many safety nets that the only way you can fail is by never doing anything. Despite the huge size of the class, Toni works really hard to get to know her students and make it work. Her class was by far my favorite class I've ever taken at UIUC. I took it over the summer, but the time commitment was not that bad. I took FSHN120 online and I can honestly say if you listen and take notes from the powerpoints she posts every week with her talking, you shouldn't worry about not getting an "A". There are generous amounts of extra credit given out, which helps make the class easier. Just be sure to stay on top and do the reflection papers before each exam.

Toni offers text reminders, quizlets, two different study guides per exam, mock exams (my personal favorite), a discussion page, generous office hours... On top of all these resources she is extremely charismatic, shares personal stories, has a sense of humor, and is always reminding us to reach out if we need any help. I highly recommend.

By far one of the most caring profs Ive ever come across. Gives you plenty of ec opportunities and is clear on what you'll be tested on. Class can be a little tough for online kids if you cant go to her in class lectures for ec, but getting an A is doable as long as youre on top of it. Since I was in the online portion, there were no mandatory zooms which I appreciated as the rest of the week was chaotic with other events. Toni is by far my favorite professor at UIUC! For her in person course, you got an extra credit point for being in attendance and 0.5 extra credit if you participated. There is a lot of dropped assignments and a dropped exam, so getting an A is very feasible. Lectures are interesting & engaging too! Very clear expectations on the assignments too.

This is one of the best classes I have taken at UIUC! I love the professor as she is always willing to help and answer questions. She makes her online lectures very interesting and relates what you are leaning to real life examples. The course content isn't too difficult to understand as long as you complete the lectures and online modules.

There are really only a handful of things you have to worry about in this class. A weekly assignment based on a video/quiz, a weekly quiz based on a prelecture, 3 exams throughout the semester, and pre-exam reflections. All of the assignments are simple and easy to do with little time. Attendance is extra credit and the notes packet is sufficient

I couldn't help but not focus during the lectures. I found the tests to be quite difficult but all the assignments and the 3 long written assignments/papers weren't too bad. She is a nice person and the course is beneficial. Overall I would recommend but be careful.

Professor Gist is one of the best Professors I have come across at U of I. I am one of the students taking FSHN 101 this year; her first time teaching it. The class is set up excellently for online students, the course material is very organized, and I would never have guessed this was her first time teaching the class.

Toni is super nice, caring, and definitely knows what she is talking about. She is always prepared and prepares us well for the tests. The tests are okay, open note, just really quick, so you have to study beforehand. Just go to class, she gives extra credit and goes over direct materials that are on the tests.

Professor Gist has a master's degree in nutrition. I took FSHN 120 completely asynchronous. It was a very straightforward class. The course uses a student workbook along with online lectures. Every week, there is a short video quiz, lecture, assignment, and project step. I would say this course takes up about two to three hours a week.

She was very reasonable with grading and made sure that everyone would do well within the course. If you ever had any problems she would respond very quickly over email. I took the version that was online but she also offers an in person version of the class, each have unique extra credit opportunities.

Although I took Gist's class online, her lecture videos and assignments felt very personal. The class is one of the most structured online classes I've ever taken, it was very easy to follow. I really enjoyed her summer course! We took 2 modules each week (16 total). 4 exams with the lowest dropped. Final exam is not mandatory if you received the grade you want from the other 3 exams. Toni is one of the best professors at UIUC. The class is very laid back and easy. As long as you keep with it (which is very manageable) you will get an A. She really cares about her students and wants them all to succeed. She makes this class enjoyable while also learning. 3 assignments a week that are so simple. And she drops lowest grades.

As long as you do the work and put the effort in it is easy to get a great grade. The professor is amazing with communication and wants all her student to succeed. You learn a lot and the work is actually fun to do especially because in a lot of assignments you can choose what to research.

The class was super easy to navigate. There are two weekly assignments and four quizzes throughout the semester counted towards your final grade. The quizzes are challenging but there is plenty of extra credit to achieve a good grade.

This course is set up in an organized way so you know when things are due. Coursework is easy and there is a lot of extra credit. Toni is very nice and responsive to emails.

I really liked Toni! She really cared about her topic and wanted to help the students. There was a decent amount of homework, but nothing too unreasonable. She also gave automatic 9 hour extensions, and was very understanding about late work. There were multiple opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester.

Super easy and accessible class. The prof and TAs were very available and willing to help students whenever we had questions.

Super easy course, but still learned a lot. As long as you get the work book and write in it, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. I stopped going to lectures a month into the semester and still got an A. She also offers a Jame's Scholar opportunity which is easy, too.

Great Professor and class is really easy. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities and she does her best to make sure you pass! Learned a lot in this class and she made things easy to understand. Not a lot of work just some quizzes throughout the week. She gives like 2-3 weeks of "wellness' where you could get extra credit.

She is honestly one of the sweetest and most caring professors ever. I know many people who have taken this class and so far I have heard no complaints. She cares about her students mental health and overall well-being (and that even shows through the screen - since I took her online). I loved her class and thought it was really interesting!

Definitely one of my favorite professors here. This class was mandatory to take for me, but it ended up being one of the best that I have taken. Amazing amazing professor I cant recommend her enough. Super easy class, tons and tons of extra credit its nearly impossible to get anything less than an A. Like 4 assignment every week but theyre easy and you usually get a couple attempts and if not there is so many resources to help.

Toni's class is a great experience - she's super engaging and really wants you to succeed. The workload is manageable, and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. I found unstuck ai to be a helpful study tool alongside the course materials.

FSHN 101 Online with Toni Gist was great! There are tons of opportunities for extra credit and you will succeed as long as you do the work. She is a very caring professor who truly wants her students to succeed.

This professor is AMAZING! She goes out of her way to ensure that you understand the course topics and hosts so many office hours by herself or with TAs. She also uses inclusive language so that no one feels left out. I appreciate that she always used real-life examples, which helped me remember the course topics. Highly recommend!

Professor Gist was one of my favorite professors and helped me decide to major in food science and human nutrition. Her course is a great introduction into the field. You will get out what you put in!

Toni is very funny in lecture. We had videos to watch before class and played a kahoot every lecture and it was fun. Textbook is super helpful is you follow it. Short assignments that aren't hard before every lecture. Lots and lots of extra credit to take advantage of as well.

Great class, prof, and TAs. Toni cares a lot about her students, even the ones online. She's very knowledgeable and approachable, I look forward to working with her more. Literally designed for you to get an A, I had a 120% for most of the semester and I learned a lot.

She is so sweet and her emails to the class were all motivating. She also sends out announcements when there is free food in Bevier Hall for students to get. This class is super easy, only about 3 very short quizzes and a STEP assignment each week and many extra credit opportunities. It is definitely do-able on top of a busy semester schedule.

Professor Gist is very sweet and cares a lot about her students. I learned so much from her FSHN 120 class, and I highly recommend taking this course if you need to fulfill a science gen ed. The class was asynchronous, so it was not stressful at all. :)

She was really understanding when I broke my leg and couldn't come to class for a long period of time. I was able to still keep up and learn content online and get a good grade. She's really enthusiastic when she teaches and cares about her students. I would highly recommend this class.

One of my favorite professors at Illinois, I've taken 3 of her online courses now just because she makes them really easy to succeed and the course content is always pretty interesting. Would definitely recommend taking class with Toni!

I loved Ms.Gist's class! Her lecture videos were very informational, easy to understand, and allowed you to absorb the information properly. The class does have a lot of assignments due on a weekly basis but they are all pretty easy to do and if you plan ahead it doesn't really take too much time.

Just do the work and you will be just fine. The professor is very flexible, caring, and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. She makes it very clear that she WANTS you to succeed.

I love FSHN 120 and how it steps me through the learning allowing me to correct any misunderstandings I have before moving on to the next thing. The chapter starts with a short video quiz (unlimited takes), a definition quiz (3 takes), then there is a reflective assignment and then some introspective questions that ask how it applies to my life.

The professor & class leverage AI in the eBook made for FSHN 101. She is very responsive! In her lecture video, there was a small error when discussing the historical context of egg consumption. I emailed and she kindly apologized for not clipping out or updating that part during the video editing (she is human). She then updated it. She listens :)

The FSHN Nutrition course made me really reflect on my health choices. I learned a lot and I have actually changed the way I eat to better my well being. I recommend this class to my friends.

Ms. Gist really cares about her students and is an awesome teacher ! Please take this online course!
