He is the best math teacher I have ever had! I usually understand the material well, but only because I had to get into it myself. I can learn everything just by going to his lectures. Homework is not required, and he always has great analogies for his examples. If you're struggling in math, this is the teacher for you, without a doubt!
Tony is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes math enjoyable and fun and to do that for me is almost impossible. Some days we would go off track in the middle of a lecture and talk about elephants but over all he was very serious about his job and passionate about it from how well he taught and how easily he helped us get it
Tony is a great math teacher. He makes the material really easy to understand. He is always willing to explain stuff. Make sure you study well for his tests.
The most unstructured class I have ever taken. Assigns homework but rarely goes over it. When everyone gets a problem wrong, instead of doing the problem and giving instruction he just tells everyone they fail and to figure it out on their own. If you enjoy hating math take this guy.
This class was really easy. he explanations were clear and tests straightforward
I took tony for math 099 and it felt like a breeze. He does joke alot which can ease the class. He doesnt collect hw which can help but also hurt you if u dont know the material. I would recommend him for an easier math class like 97 or 98, however if taking calc then i wouldnt recommend because you do need the practice and therefore having a profe
There needs to be more math teachers like him. Hes not easy, but he makes you want to learn the material. He made my two hour calculus class like a comedy club every monday and Wednesday. I highly recommend him.
Tony is the best Math teacher ever. He applies current events to and everyday situations to help you understand the importance in math. I recommend him to everyone, trust me I hated math even since high school it was not my subject, then I took his classes and I passed calculus with an A. He is a great teacher and he shows his passion for math.
When I first "met" Tony I thought, oh @#$% he's going to be a tough teacher. The rules seemed crazy but he is right, talking to your neighbor is distracting to others. Since the class/content was hard we needed to pay attention. He was very fair in grading and teaching. I dont think I ever studied so hard, but it was rewarding!
he is the best teacher that i had had in my life !!!!!
Tony is the best teacher I ever had at BCC or anywhre really.I could of done better but regardless he is the best prof, he has a very creative yet effective teaching style. I took him for math99 last yr spring and he was just as good!Show up for class, its worth it, you will learn a lot! I'm considering takin more math courses just because of him!
The best math teacher at BCC.
He has a great personality, but I don't like the way he teaches because he doesn't go over the worksheets problems and he doesn't answer all of homework problems. He will say you have to figure it out on your own. I like him a lot as a person but not as my math teacher.
I never could get above a C in Math until Akhlaghi, got B's in both 156 & 157, He is helpful and makes it easy to understand. I used the math lab to review my homework and took my questions to him, where he clarified any questions. Must attend and do all the work. He is the best teacher for those who don't get math. You will love him.
Tony you are a very talented math teacher, your ability to teach is second to none. I wish nothing but the best for you in your academic future.
He's a great guy, knows his roots and has great regarding them. Knows how to teach math, and loves teaching it. FYI every quarter he changes his teaching style; i had him twice, once he dropped a test and replaced it with your quiz grade and another time he let you miss the final if you had above an 90% ... also finish the in work for your own good

He is a very fun, energetic teacher who is incredibly intelligent and extremely attractive. I personally think he walks on water. He also loves football, the REAL football. But, anyway, he is very versatile in the way he teaches, his class is demanding because it is math, but, he'll help you earn the grade.
funny, lively, super energetic even at 10pm. Answers almost any questions you ask him. keeps you entertained and engaged with stories mixed with math. different colored pens to help follow along step by step. HW from textbook (not collected, just for practice).cares about how how well you do in math. great teacher, one of the best.
If you take calculus take it with Tony. He makes class fun and he is a great instructor. He also uses every color on the board lol. Don't miss class and you will succeed. It is challenging but he is very fair towards the end of the quarter with grade consideration.
He is one of the best teachers i've ever had! So clear! If you take notes and do the homework, you'll be fine! No HW! I got an A! He is the BEST! take him!
Love him!
He is a very good teacher. My only problem with him is that he requires 96% for an A. I got a 94% and ended up with an A-. He uses different colors for explanation of math problems which helps. I recommend him.
Akhlaghi is the man! Attend class, take some really good notes and study those for the test and you will succeed. Just be sure to take good enough notes so that when the final roles around you'll be able to do well. He doesn't require homework, but if you're struggling you should do it. If you understand it, more free time for you. Take this guy!
mr. akhlaghi is soooo awesome! he is an amazing teacher and takes the time to make sure everyone understands. he tends to bang the end of his podium when people fall asleep but over all i would definately recommend him!
Very good teacher!! He's very helpful and not at all confusing. He's also an awesome guy!! =3
Great Prof, very helpful if you have questions. Any question will be entertained and made clear to you. If you are like me and are comfortable with math, this guy will be a breeze. Very enjoyable evening class, very good teaching style. I recommend over any I've had thus far.
The best teacher ever!
If you want to know about Tony just close this page and register for his class quickly and then learn Math with fun.
Tony is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is very clear and makes the class very easy.
Stay on his good side by attending class regularly. He loves those who participate in class by asking questions or being conversational with him when he's in the mood. If you're not on his good side he wont look at you, hardly talk to you, basically he'll be a jerk. I failed easier math classes prior to his class. He's a good teacher.
After reading the other glowing posts on here I registered for this class. Tony is a nice guy, but his math skills would be better used in a field other than teaching. He had ONE office hour per day and half the time he didn't even show up. He isn't a very dedicated instructor and I would not recommend his class to anyone who struggles with math.
Tony is the funniest teacher i have ever had. I love the guy. Im for sure going to take him again next quarter. However, as much as i love him, he i isn't super helpful and i would NOT recommend him if you struggle in math
Tony is a funny guy, but he grades his tests *very* strictly, not much room for partial credit. If you excell in math you'll do fine, if you're average to below average, expect to struggle a lot. I would recommend his class for people who enjoy or are math aces, not for everyone else. I took him in the past and he's put the pedal down, big time.
wow these comments below are totally NOT true. if you're having trouble in mr. akhlaghi's class then you must SUCK at math because he makes things SOOOO clear! He's always there to help you outside of class and is absolutely hillarious. you'll do well if you actually put an effort. for all of you who rated him poorly, you deserve the grade you got!
Tony is a great teacher. He is hilarious and wants to help you make sure you understand. I highly recommend him!!
Tony is the best math teacher ever! He explains things so well. His tests can be hard... but after all, it is calculus. The homework really helps and a lot of times he will take problems straight from the book for the tests/quizzes. Plus, I NEVER got bored in his class because he is hilarious and entertaining. TAKE HIM! You Will be happy you did!
Great teacher. Funny and merry...chewing math for u!
merry...chewing math for u!
Tony is a really cool guy, he's always cracking jokes which really helps make math a lot more fun and interesting.
Awesome guy. I wasn't looking forward to the class at all and by the end of the quarter it was my favorite class. He's interesting, funny (in my opinion) and teaches very well. You have to work and study for your grade, but if you're nervous about math... make sure you get this guy. He definitely puts you at ease in the classroom. :)
His class is the best in BCC, take his class, you won't be regret. I learned a lot and I got A. He makes difficult problems to be easy and clearly.
I just got finished take Tony's class and he is by far the best teacher I've ever had! He grades on 3 tests, the final, and in class work (which includes a couple of easy quizzes). He grades very fairly. Also, he will explain every hw problem until there are no more questions. GREAT TEACHER!!!
A great guy and a great teacher! If math isn't your thing - this guy is the perfect teacher! His lessons are clear and helpful which makes studying much easier. He makes hilarious jokes all the time and will really keep you interested. Although, he hates talking. One peep and he calls you on it! Otherwise, BCC's best math teacher!
Had him for Pre-Calc 1&2. He is a good teacher and explains very well. His grading scale sucks though(96 for an A).
He is the best math teacher that I have ever had. I used to hate math but when he teaches it I love it.
he is a really funny teacher and keeps you interested in math. very helpful and is willing to answer any question you have on the homework or in math. i recommend anyone to take him for math.
this teacher is great, no homework check, no pop quiz. make the subject clean
CALC is hard, but tony make it so much easier. He walks though everything clearly on the white board. every class starts out with and homework questiongs that the class has. He is super helpful and full of personality. take him! exams are hard. you dont turn in homework. some quizes.
Really great teacher! Very clear and super funny! Makes math enjoyable and easy to understand!
He is amazing! I am not a math person but I am getting 100%'s and and A in the class. I couldn't do it without him. He explains thing so clearly and he tells the best stories. You want to go to class just to listen to him talk. Plan your schedule around Tony...I do!
One of the best math teachers I've had, and I think the best math teacher at BCC. I took him for both Math 141 and 142 and plan to take him for 151 too. As long as you pay attention in class and study your notes, you'll be fine. He also many times will let you not take the final if you have a certain grade which is really helpful.
Greatest math professor I've ever had! Extremely helpful and funny! Math has never been my strong subject and this is the first class that I'm getting an A in without doing any homework! Show up to class and take notes and you'll do fine! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! :)
Amazing teacher and clear with everything he teaches and says. Very funny (especially with the way he talks). He can cover a whole section in 5 minutes and trust me, you will understand it without a doubt.
Alright teacher for the most part but he goes over things too fast and it seems he doesn't care much if all the students 'get it' as long as he completes the lecture. Didn't give much hw, mostly group hw, which isn't very helpful if you're one who needs alot of practice, nevertheless got a c- so I took bcc math assesment, passed it as my prereq!!
Before his class I had absolutely no interest in math and I was not very good at it either. This guy is the best teacher I have EVER had. He makes sure u understand the concepts of math and is there whenever you need help. Awesome guy, very funny and nice and his knowledge of math is unbelievable, he is so proficient. Best teacher ever.
Mr. Aklaghi is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He knows how to explain things clearly, and if you don't get something, he will help you out. When you are just getting used to a concept he only assigns a few problems, and as you move along he assigns more, like around twenty. He has a great sense of humor too! Take his class if you can!
One of the best math professors I have ever encountered. Explains the concepts cleanly, concisely, and with a touch of humor. One word of caution: Before you get to his Calculus class - Know your algebra inside out, top to bottom. Biz Calculus is not that hard - it's the algebra that will trip you up and cost you valuable points.
Tony was absolutely awesome. I failed pre-calc in high school and when i took business calc with him everything made sense. I got a 97% in his class--that shows you how awesome he is. also, the way he talks is really funny---he pauses for a split second before he says the last words in sentences and this always keeps you thinking about what is next
Tony is an awesome teacher! Best and most interesting math teacher I have ever had. He makes things very easy to understand, he makes jokes in class, and is a very nice guy. He isn't what I would call an easy grader, but I think his class is worth it. If you can, TAKE HIS CLASS!
Great Teacher! Very funny, love his accent, and is very straightforward on his exams. Attendance isn't MANDATORY, but RECOMMENDED. Quizzes are a bit challenging, but exams are okay as long as you study hard for them.
he jokes in class and seems like a nice guy but he goes over things so quickly i have no idea what hes saying, i do fine on the homework but his tests are unclear and when i asked for extra help he said there was nothing he could do for me. i've always had A's in math but this guy doesnt care if you get it or not, he just wants to get done on time
Tony is an awesome teacher... seriously. It has been a few quarters since I took him, but he has definitely impacted my learning, even still. He is hilarious... he cracks jokes that make no sense until minutes letter. His tests are completely fair. Take his class! You won't be sorry!
Very good examples, makes learning very fun.
Great teacher! Attend class (not mandatory but necessary), do HW and you'll do well. Don't text in class! Runs a tight ship, but you'll know your math. Appreciates students who want to learn; don't be a bump on a log!Get involved. Best teacher I've ever had, period. Uses book as guideline but adds stuff. HW most nights & goes over problems in class
Tony is a superb teacher! This is my 4th quarter with him and I am thankful for it. I used to hate math but Tony makes it so crystal clear that I really enjoy it now. A few tips to make him happy: do your homework, be involved in class, and don't text or talk in class.
great teacher. if you don't understand he will explain a different way. textbook was terrible.
If you couldn't go to his class I really sorry for you because he is the only math teacher in BC that can teach math. Before going to take Calculus class I thought Calculus is hard and I can not do it, but I took his class, and I found Calculus easy and fun.If you want to have a good feeling when you doing math take his class as soon as possible.
Simply put, Tony is the best math teacher I've ever had. If you don't take at least one of his classes you are making a matake. He is clear in lecture and fair in grading. He keeps your interest in class and frequently breaks to tell funny stories. He is passionate about math and cares about his students. Some people are just natural born teachers.
He's awesome. He makes math make perfect sense and hard concepts easy. Math has never really been my thing, but I found myself looking forward to class every day.
If you have to take precalc - calc this is your man. He is very good at explaining tough concepts and he does alot of practice problems so you feel confident when it comes time to do the homework. Tony is by far the best math teacher BC has to offer.
Tony is a fun teacher. He's strict but not a bad teacher. I personally don't like his teaching style. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it will benefit you in the long run.
Mr. Akhlaghi is basically the best math teacher I have ever had. His explanations are clear and illuminating. He is very willing to meet with you during his office hours, and is basically hilarious. Awsome man.
Awesome teacher!! He explains everything, creates great atmosphere in the class. If you don't understand one way, he explain in different one. He occasionaly does group works, tests are ok, if you prepare. I enjoyed this class very much. Best teacher I've had on BC!!
Awesome prof! Definitely knows his stuff. Don't take his class if you dislike math/can't keep up. He goes through chapters super fast but will help if you're struggling! Attendance not mandatory but come to class because sometimes there is graded in class work. Study for the quizzes. Those make up a larger part of your grade than you think.
Super brilliant teacher, take his class you will automatically become successful.
Tony is a very talented math professor. If you do the work, you should be able to get a good grade. I often felt that Tony's class was like listening to Jay Leno or David Letterman teach math. He is hilarious. I rated Tony hard because he has high expectations and goes fast, but Tony makes the difficult very understandable. I highly recommend!
Great teacher. Very helpful. Before ANYTHING goes on a test, Akhlaghi will give homework about it and let you ask questions about it. Hes very tricky and is pretty humorous. I enjoyed the class and pulled a B+ after not having a math clas for over a year. His side stories are funny. Take him and enjoy the wonderful world of mathematics.
If you are great at math before coming to class then you do great. I personally have a hard time with math and learned the majority of my knowledge in math lab. He flies through the book, rarely does examples and I found his favorite saying is "This is easy algebra, we are in calculus, you do it!".
I think he was a good teacher. Really nice and easy to get along with. Helps you out whenever you need it.
Mr. Akhlaghi is an excellent teacher. He is very enthusiastic about math which makes lecture nice. His lecture is very comprehensive. He is also a funny guy. His assignments and tests are similar to other professors. I wish he was teaching calculus 3!
great teacher tough but fair
Very good teacher. Goes over most everything in class, and via HW assignments, that will be on tests. Very nice, lighthearted, funny teacher. Enjoyed his class. Gives credit for in-class group work that ensures attendance
Tony made calculus fun. I was apprehensive about my first calc class, but I truly enjoyed my time in that class. Tony is hilarious and makes calc understandable. His tests are fair and homework isn't required, but I highly recommend doing it. You won't regret taking a class with Tony!!
Loved having Calculus with him! He makes class fun with his quirky jokes! Lectures are vital. He gives you every possible concept example(s) from that section, which will be on the exam. And Tony is very good at explaining the problems, so helpful!
Tony sees the world in math. He is great at explaining concepts and grading. He is not easy on making up test/quizes. But, if you need to understand math, he is the best.
Best teacher everrrrr!
If you make an effort to show up and learn the material, you'll do fine. Tony explains it pretty well; goes over homework; goes over exams, etc. Very fair.
Man !! I had a Russian teacher that made me HATE MATHHHH and now Tony made me love math... Tonyyyy Tonyyyy yay lol
What? Do you think about his class? 4 quiz, and 3 Exam AND Final exam. AND 1 essay writing a biographical paper extra credit. But Tony explains it pretty well; goes over homework; goes over exams, great teacher.
Best teacher I have ever had. If you get him, you're in for a treat. I am gonna miss having him as a teacher so much. Tony is hilarious and just flat out the best. Explains everything so well that you never have to touch the textbook.
Tony is a great teacher, and a funny guy! I took his pre-calc course so the subject matter wasn't the easiest , but he explained it all really well! Looking forward to taking another class with him!!
Tony is a great teacher! It's a hard class, but if you pay attention, take notes, and do your homework, you'll be fine. If you don't understand something, he's more than happy to help you. If you show that you want to be there, you'll have no problem in the class. Math is hard, but he teaches the subject better than any teacher I've ever had. A+++!
I took math 99 with Mihaylova or whatever her name was, I did so bad in Mihaylovas class that I had to drop the class... I thought I was lazy and stupid, but then I got the same class with Tony and passed it with a B ! I was the same person, teacher changed, That tells me teachers are very important, they can make you love school or hate it
Tony is great! As long as you show up, take notes and do your homework, you should pass- He prepares you for everything. He is really funny, so it makes class go by fast.
Just awesome
By far best prof I've ever had. Would STRONGLY recommend to anyone and everyone. Just be sure to do your homework!
very good math teach that like to joke alot and helpful.
This teacher is the best teacher I have ever had for math. He is absolutely hilarious, very approachable, and doesn't give out homework! If you get a good grade in the class, the final is optional. I cannot stress how much fun he makes math and what a great teacher he is! He is able to just lecture and teach math in a way that's very interesting.
Love this professor! Hes funny and helpful when you ask. His tests can be difficult of you dont study but hes great.
He is such a GREAT teacher! Makes learning in higher math classes enjoyable and managable. Great sense of humor and has an obvious compassion for math. If you don't take from him, then it is such a loss on your part. I will be taking him as instructor in the future!
An AMAZING teacher. Most teachers know their material very well, but are not very good at teaching people, but this teacher is wonderful. I don't even like Math that much, but I enjoyed every minute of his class, and learned a lot. He is the absolute best math teacher ever.
Very concise, and precise. Not only knows his stuff, but is very good at teaching it. Has a way of relating math to real world. Makes difficult concepts seem easy. I would recommend him to anyone. He is the best teacher in BC.
The best math teacher you will EVER have. Things that seem like Latin in the textbook he makes SO easy to understand. Everything he says sticks. His grading is so fair and homework isn't required, but highly recommended. Any chance you get, have him for math, especially if you don't like math all that much. So bummed I couldn't get in his 152! :(
I don't even know how to begin, he makes everything so easy to understand. He is incredibly funny. I actually work my schedule around his math classes because the results are amazing. He not only knows his stuff, but he actually knows how to teach it effectively.
Excellent professor! Knows his subject matter very well and is even better at teaching it! Exams and quizzes are easy if you payed attention in class. He also likes to tell jokes and short stories to make the class more interesting.
Tony could easily be a stand-up comedian instead of being a math professor - his class is like being a part of a live performance. He clarifies things into terms that a toddler could even understand and there was never anything on tests that I had not previously seen.
Hands down one of the best professors I've had so far. He explains things clearly, lays out his expectations, and is hilarious to top it. He's tough, but he doesn't do anything we aren't capable of doing. He made precalc fun and interesting. Attendance is pretty much mandatory if you want to pass the class - but it's worth it.
I had almost all my math classes with Tony. Really enjoyed his class and I would recommend taking a class with him. Have fun
Absolutly great
Love this teacher! He is extremely clear when explaining new concepts and gives plenty of time to answer questions if you have any. He also gives a chance for extra credit if you need it. He loves teaching too, so it is always a joy to be in class! Best teacher I've ever had!
He is just amazing.. Dont doubt him!!! He is always willing to help students out and attendance is mandatory but all of a sudden he checks so... if you wanna get an extra point (in class work) from the attendance, just go class.. It `s really fun. I got B+ and he just let students not to take the final if you get more than 88 percentages. Take him!
Awesome teacher. It was my first math course at a college and my first night class also. If Mr. Akhlaghi hadn't been teaching the night class I probably would have struggled. He makes it easy to understand and is straightforward. He is extremely funny and that was what made the class bearable and even enjoyable. Got a 99 and skipped the final. 5/5
he is a awesome teacher! we have so much fun in his class and obviously he is extremely helpful. I had precal 2, calc1 with him and I will take my calc 2 with him. I highly recommend him. take his class.
Tony is fab. He balances quality teaching, humor, and inspirational pep talks that leave me so excited about calculus. Favorite math teacher ever. Just try and visit him in his office or you may never get 1 on 1 time.
I love Tony, after taking 132 with Villines I wish he was back teaching math of elementary ed, he is so helpful and easy to understand, and if you need more help he will take time to clarify and other students can help as well. He is fair and really knows his stuff, he was the spark I needed to like math again
Just AH-MA-ZING!
BEST MATH TEACHER IN BC, IF NOT IN US. MAKES MATH FUN, CLEAR, AND EASY UNDERSTANDING. NO WONDER HIS CLASSES FILL UP TOO FAST WITH AT LEST 5 PEOPLE ON THE WAIT LIST!
He teaches math with such great interest/motivation that you will change your major to math by taking any of his classes, especially Calculus Series. HW is not graded. He tells funny jokes/amazing stories. Does group work before an quiz/exam. Outstanding professor! Best mathematics instructor hands down!
Take hime!!! He teaches really well so you will not regret taking his class. I actually had no idea how to survive with Calculus 2. This is because, majority of people say that if I took Calculus2, you may have to study really hard, yes, it s true. However, when you go to class everyday and do whatever he mentiones, you will get the nice score.
TONY! You are freaking amazing! I had NOO interest in math what-so-ever before taking his class. He made everything very easy to understand. Great personality, smart, and connected well w/ his his students. You restored my faith in mathematics! By no means is this an 'easy' class. You have to work hard, but you emerge w/ the skills you need to grow
I have struggled with math for years and years until Tony came along! He teaches difficult material in a very well-paced, understandable way. He also drops a couple jokes a day, so his lectures are never boring. Best math teacher I've ever encountered.
Literally the best teacher I have ever had!!! He makes math super fun while also making you learn a lot. I was never bored in his class. Whenever I was confused on something he was super helpful in explaining it to me.
Great teacher! Class is easy, just do the recommended HW and don't miss any class. He is a funny teacher and class was never boring. I highly recommend taking Tony.
fantastic teacher
AWESOMELY AWESOME
He's the best! Teaches very well and easy to pay attention to! Exams and quizzes are exactly like the problems he does in class! Easy A! I wish he teached 153
I have never gotten anything higher than a C in a math class before I took this class with Tony! The class wasn't easy because the material was easy, but because he did such a great job at making it understandable. He makes sure you know the subject he's teaching before he moves on to the next. HIGHLY recommend his class!
Calc isn't an easy subject, he just happens to be one of the easiest teachers in the field so take it with him. His tests are just like hw (which isn't graded) and lecture notes, but tend to be really long. 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and 1 cumulative final (no midterm). Online hw CD not required for his class.
If he can make a believer out of me, he can make a believer out of anyone. Do yourself a favor and just take his class.
Tony is a snarky no-it-all. He forbids the use of technology if you cannot follow his lecture, and doesn't like answering questions. Everything is forced, will even kick you out if you don't pay attention. His teaching style is leading by example(which is great), but only limits it to that. Because if you can't get with HIS program you're screwed.
He is simply Amazing, clear lectures, fair tests and ready to help students at any time.
VERY GOOD TEACHER.
One of the best teachers I've ever taken. Makes the material fun and easy to understand. Class is a bit challenging but with hard work you can get an A.
This professor often seemed to be talking down to me. He chastised me for missing one day of class when I asked a question rather than just answer my question. I can understand that it is frustrating for students to miss class, but the way he handled this was entirely unprofessional. Otherwise, he teaches a rigorous course that makes you work hard!
Tony is a great professor. He makes math really fun and likes to crack jokes in between lectures. I like the way he explain concepts and homework problems. Getting an A requires effort, but if you know how to solve most of the problems he does in the class, then you should be fine because his exam questions are similar to that.
He's one of the best professors I've had here
as a running start student that hated math, i had no idea what to expect in a math class. Akhlaghi made the class easy to understand and taught the material in multiple ways. He changed my views on math and now i'm going back for 132. He only has 3 exams and the final which are majority of your grade and he never posts anything on canvas.
This class was really helpful class. I never really liked math and he helps make everything very clear to understand. He does not continue until the class understands what he was teaching. Also very fun class, there are 3 tests and 3 quizzes. Homework is not required, as long as you study, easy A.
Mr. A is a tough teacher! He really cares about what he's teaching and the students that come to class. Make sure that you are there every day, otherwise, you would get far behind fast. He doesn't like people who are statues so when he pauses for the class to answer, just say the answer. He want's those who are alive to speak up! Great teacher!
Tony is awesome! His lecture are fast paced but very organized and easy to followunderstand. He does not collect homework but, you MUST do the homework to pass the class! Many of the quiz and the test questions are the exact same as homework problems. During lecture, he makes sure everyone is engaged. The tests are fair. Fantastic teacher!
I'll start by saying I'm awful at math. Tony is a great teacher though, he makes class interesting and makes it easy to pay attention. If you're good at math, Tony will make this class a breeze. If you're bad at it, he'll help you. If you're like me though, you have to realize he is only one man. Go to the math lab.
He loves all his students! Makes math at 7:30 am fun!!! Best math teacher out there!
Fun teacher, easy classlectures. Show up for classes and do group work for easy credit. He assigns homework but never collects it and the answers are in the back of the book so it's on you to practice it. Will take him again for calculus!
Such a clear teaching style! He doesn't slow down for slackers, but is willing to go over and over a concept until you understand it. Put a little effort in and this class will be memorable. He's hilarious and has a lot of great stories. Do the hw (seriously, do), ASK QUESTIONS, you'll breeze thru the tests. Also, some extra credit available!
He is the best teacher I've ever have for math. before this class I hated math, but now I really like it.
Tony is one of the best math professors at BC. He's super fun in class. and is very fair .Exams are very similar to the things that he has taught. And really cares about students. Definitely take him!!!
tony is amazing. do homework's and you will get the A. he jokes a lot in class makes it so fun to be in. quizzes not that hard, give one take home exam. if you got B or higher in the class you done need to take the final exam it will be optional, his lectures are awesome time flay so fast you don't even fell it, highly recommended. take his class.
I would recommend his class. The exams are based off of the worksheets he gives you.
Tony is a great teacher. I would say the best teacher I've ever had. Take him and you will love math. He makes his lectures fun and easy. Amazing instructor!!!
Hands down one of the funniest teacher's I have ever had in my life. LOVE TONY! I was laughing pretty much everyday in his class. Material is hard you definitely need to do homework on your own if you want to get a good grade. But his exams are pretty fair, the only thing I don't like is that you need to memorize some formulas. But hes worth it!
He's a great teacher! Tough class though. He makes long lectures fun and jokes a lot. Homework is not collected but you should do it! If you can do the homework you are good for the exam. Don't slack on quizez that can really hurt your grade. He's really good with disabilities will even walk to the drc during exams to fix a typo. Really great guy!
LOVE THIS TEACHER! If you are not very good at math and need two upper level math courses, take Math for elementary teachers 1& 2 with Tony. He really makes you understand math and has a lot of fun teaching it. Homework not mandatory, but attendance is required. He is my favorite math teacher!
I highly recommend this class to anyone of yous guys thinking about take Tony class. He's a man, amazing mathematician. I'am taking his class right now. attend to class daily you will do fine. 50' class often is half lecture and half practice problem . His teaching style is really interesting, not boring at all. quiz and test are reasonable.
You would want to come to class everyday because he is AH MA ZZINKK
Tony is honestly the best math teacher I had in my life. If given the opportunity, take him. He will make math fun and understandable. Make sure not to write negative exponents because he will mark you down on that. His exams/quizzes were no more than 10 questions but worth a lot of points. 96 is an A but achievable.
Tony is the best math teacher I have ever had. For 141 at SCC, he assigns homework but never collects it. Some people struggled with the material, but he really is an awesome teacher. Test questions are directly from his lectures. He's funny and takes breaks to talk about things other than math. I wish I could take all of my math classes with him.
Tony made Calculus unnecessarily hard. He wouldn't write the section at the top of the board so you don't know what to do for test prep. He doesn't have a Canvas site, so you can't discuss problems with other students, check grades, etc. Spent WAY too much time joking so he had to rush through material. I wouldn't take his class again.
I honestly regret taking Tony for Calculus 1. He doesn't write what the section is on the board nor does he write them on the syllabus so youre basically FORCED to come to class. He doesn't use canvas which makes contacting him hard. He adds tricky questions on his test so you gotta study through other recources than the textbook.
One of the best math teachers out there. He is truly inspiring and caring. He really wants his students to understand math and has a passion for teaching math. I would 100% recommend taking his class. Calculus is not easy subject so of course you need to put work in but he makes it fun to learn.
Nice teacher, but I wouldn't recommend him to a friend, no.
Tony is the greatest math prof I have ever had. He really wants you to do well in the class and cares about all his students. Calc itself is challenging, but Tony is a wonderful teacher. Final is very reasonable and easy if you review.
I loved his Calculus 1 class! Even though I was in his 2-hour class, it was very interesting. Tony is very funny and engaging. The problems on his tests and quizzes are not that hard, similar to homework questions. Homework isn't collected nor required, but doing the homework is definitely essential to passing. Beware an A is 95% in his class...
Really nice guy, makes all the problems look easy in class but teaches the math at a very fast rate. His lectures can be hard to follow and you must do the homework if you want to pass. He's very strict which makes it a better learning environment. His test are hard so prepare to study every night. Be prepared to eat sleep math if you have him.
Tony is easily the best teacher I have ever taken. If you have the opportunity to take his class do so. You won't regret it. I hated math until I took his class and now I enjoy it.
I started liking math because of Tony. Teaches the concepts very clearly. In fact he teaches a class at BS which teaches math teachers how to teach math! Very caring, and hilarious. Jokes around but never takes from class time. Asists students whenever needed. Very fair w grading. If you have a B+ or higher you don't have to take the final.
Tony is a very good teacher, explains concepts very well. Pretty funny person too, and the lectures are long, but he makes them interesting. Tests are somewhat difficult, but if you do the homework and study you will pass.
Tony is the Best math teacher
- you must attend class: there are in-class-works that count toward your final grade; exams and quizzes are based on lectures and homework. -sometime lectures could be superficial and lack consistency with the book, so be ready to study a lot on your own. - he's a generous grader, he considers not just the result but mostly your work.
Tony Akhlagi is the GOAT.
Tony has amazing lectures, and that's hard to come by nowadays TBH. he explains things well, though he gives a lot of homework. if you have a B+ or higher, you can opt to skip his final. He also takes off the lowest test score I believe. beware, a 95% is required to get an A.. I learned the hard way.
I really like this instructor. He explains everything really well and also makes the class engage so everyone understands the material better. What I like best about this instructor is that if you have a B+ or higher by the end of the quarter you don't have to take the final. An A is 96% or higher in his class though. I recommend this instructor.
Definitely different style of teaching. First week he seemed really fast paced, but over the quarter you'll get used to it. You attend class and do homework for your own good. How much time you dedicate to attendance and homework will determine your grade, as the quizzes and exams are similar to homework and lectures.
Great professor. Funny, respectable, and charismatic, but also teaches well and grades fairly. Tony was one of the only professors I've had to changed my attitude towards a subject (math). I would HIGHLY recommend taking his classes.
Honestly the BEST math teacher I've ever had. Tony is hilarious! He makes the class interesting and I would recommend any friend to take him. I understand everything he's taught me so far. He's what I wish all professors would be like. I actually wanted to go to his class. I would take any class that he'd teach.
He knows how to catch the class's attention and explains the main topics in a very simple matter. His lectures go by pretty fast, so even if you are late for 5 minutes, you missed a lot. However, because of that, he has a lot of extra time to crack silly jokes. His tests have very few questions, if you do the homework you'll get an A.
I took Math for Teachers with him during winter quarter and loved it, he explained things well and divided the work well between classwork, quizzes, group tests, etc. He's a friendly, nice person too. Only critiques are that you need a 96% to get an A (I got an A- for a 95%) and he doesn't post grades on Canvas.
Tony was one of the best Math teacher I have ever had. Great lecturer, you just need to focus at class. If you know everything based on your notes, you wouldn't have any problem for exams. I recommend to take this class to everyone.
Tony is a fantastic teacher and overall I felt the homework was easy. When it came to the exams I had some difficulty, there was always at least one question I couldn't answer. I've never struggled that much during exams but I also feel I learned a lot from him.
One of the best teachers I've had, period. Very passionate! Has a nice grading policy, though you're graded on few things. In-class work (basically free points) the day before each exam which is pretty good prep for the test. HW is optional but helpful if you are struggling. Amazing instructor!!
Work hard throughout the quarter so you wouldn't have to take the final, because it's super hard. How does it make sense for struggling students to take a super hard final?
Tony is a very good professor, and he is so funny. If you do the homework, it is so easy to get A.
He assigns plenty of hw, but never turns it in. There's group work every now and then for credit, but he usually won't say unless you're in class, so DON'T SKIP. The tests could easily be a lot harder, so as long as you do the hw and pay attention in class, you'll be fine. Very funny, slips in jokes between the math to keep class entertained!
Tony was the best math teacher I have ever had! He was very clear in his expectations for class and homework. Not too much was asked for this class and he wanted his students to succeed.
Tony's super funny & tells stories. Our class wasn't interactive but he puts the effort in getting us to participate. He goes into depth on a problem if students are confused and reviews before exams/quizzes. Tests/quizzes are easy if you focus and do the work. He respects students and treats us like equals. Optional final if grade is 87% or higher
I have taken Professor Akhlaghi for Math151, 152, and 153. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches, makes class fun, and grades reasonably. Although he does not check homework, it is necessary to do it and master it if you want to get an A in the class. The one downside is that his A is a 96%, and the grading consists of 75% exams.
Tony is one the best math teachers I have ever had. He makes everything so easy and understandable and really wants his students to succeed. If you have a B+ or higher in his class you dont have to take the final!!! The quizzes and tests arent bad if you pay attention and do the textbook problems! Legit best math class ever
Tony did a great job planning and teaching his class. However, it is almost impossible to complete math 152 with an A in his class since he requires a 96 percent and above for an A and a 90-95 for an A-. In addition, he does not use canvas, so if you skip class you will have to find your notes from a friend or classmate
I took Tony for all the calc classes for a reason! Hes the best math teacher Ive had and I got an A for calc 153 this quarter so no its not impossible, however, I did learn that you need to make study guides out of his in class problems, theyll reappear on his tests. Other than that he is a really funny guy with interesting lectures!
Tony explains concepts really well so I rarely had to spend much time on my own thoroughly reading the textbook. His quizzes and tests are pretty easy. I'm pretty sure he wants everyone to finish with an A, because he grades really easily on tests. My friend ended up taking the final exam and Tony gave her a 100% even though she had a few errors.
Professor Akhlaghi became my favorite math teacher at Bellevue College after Math153. His lectures are clear, engaging and funny. Tony is also great during office hours. I would have chosen a 3 for difficulty however you must get a 96 to receive an A in his class. . His quizzes and exams are very fair if you do the HW. No curveballs on exams.
Tony is the best math teacher I have ever had in my educational history, he knows how's his students are doing in class and will help you pass the class by making hw due to make your grade in the class go higher. As expected in a math class you need to study which is why I gave it a 4 or else it would be a higher number as you need to learn math.
Just about the best teacher I've ever had, perfectly balanced lectures with funny anecdotes thrown in, clear, accessible and all his lessons are applicable. Definitely planning on taking Tony for calc 1 next quarter
Tony is one of the best teachers I've ever met. His lectures are clear, he doesn't go fast and it's not at all boring. We've got 4 quizzes 3 exams and an optional final if you already did well. Quizzes are extremely easy, exams aren't hard either. No curveballs. We get group works before the exams to review the stuff that is covered.
Fantastic teacher. Tony really cares about his students, and is very open to helping them with questions. However, his 142 class was very difficult. I received a 56/100 on the second test, but thankfully the final replaces the lowest test in addition to being it's own score, so I got back up to an A. An A in Tony's class was 96%.
Tony looks at the bigger concepts in education and math and distills the essentials for you to really understand what's important. This concise method of teaching was brilliant for some, but could be unforgiving to others. If you put in the effort and use all the resources available to you, taking a class from Tony will be highly rewarding!
He is by far my favorite math teacher I have ever had. I found that his lectures were very thorough so I did not really need to read the textbook at all. He is really funny which made the class enjoyable and easy to stay engaged. As long as you do all the homework you should do pretty well in the class.
Best Math prof. Amazing hilarious lectures. Solid choice for Calc. Clear grading criteria. Caring, considerate.
Tony is the best math teacher I have ever had. I was not good at math but after taking his class I gained confidence. Although 96% is an A in his class, if you do the homework and review in-class notes then you will be fine. The quizzes and exams are very reasonable. They are easier than homework questions.
First quarter at Bellevue College and he was one of my favorites! Very easy and funny. He does take attendance and usually does one group work a week which isnt too bad. His quizzes and tests arent hard at all as long as you go to class. Lectures are very organized and clear. Sometimes lets class out early as well.
Took Tony for both 142 and 151, 142 definitely gave me a good foundation for the entirety or Calc 1. Lectures are detailed and he makes sure that the class mostly understands the topic before continuing on. Tests can be fairly difficult at first but doing all of the homework will help you a lot. Only thing is test have few problems and lots of poin
Even though I only got a B+ I still think Tony is an awesome professor. His lectures were really clear. He gives out HW but does not MAKE you do it, but I do recommend doing it because it does help a lot on the quizzes. There would be some group math practice time, make sure to be there.
Wonderful teacher. Requires a 96 to get an A but doesn't require you to take the final of you have >87 at the end of the quarter. Incredibly passionate about math and would gladly take a class with him again.
By far the easiest, most caring, intelligent professor in the mathematics department. You will leave Tony's class loving math. 96 for an A,but if you come to class and do the HW (which is usually very easy), you will ace his exams and quizzes. Very generous in grading and wants you to succeed Amazing lectures and an all around incredible professor.
Tony is a great teacher and is really easy to follow, however it goes very fast and you're only graded on tests. The A is a 96 or higher, and the homework is all self motivated. If you're good at math you'll be fine, for me it was hard to get myself to study
Professor Tony is the best. He is caring and wants everyone successes in his class. I took his math 151 on spring and math 152 on fall. I wish he could teach math 153 tho. Overall a wonderful experience of taking his classes!
Tony is a great teacher and he care about you. He will try his best to explains the concept that he taught and he only test what he taught you. Take his class if you want to learn Math, it will create a great foundation for your future courses.
Tony is great! I hated math for such a long time and now I want to go to the next level just cause tony is gonna teach it! Homework is not mandatory but for your own sake should be done, his exams and quizzes are so straight forward. Theres either a quiz or an exam each week. And no extra credit. He teaches very smoothly. I owe him much!!
The best math instructor you can imagine. If you do all the homework properly, attend classes and try to understand everything he gives you, it's easy A (it starts from 96%). All you have to do is to work for your grade and go to class. One little con is that he doesn't accept emails and don't use Canvas, so for questions, you go to his office.
Tony is a great professor! He teaches through examples and is very clear. You will not get bored of his lectures. He also teaches very fast and finishes the curriculum before the quarter is even over. Hes very a very honest and cool dude and Im planning to take calc 2 with him as well
You will learn from this professor, and you will understand the material if you put in the work and study, do homework, and participate. He is a relaxed prof. and his lectures are amazing. He enjoys it when his students participate. He doesn't have many EC opportunities so don't screw up on quizzes man.
Took calc2 online during COVID. the class wasn't bad. he sets up the modules with a bunch of videos to watch and gives the assigned homework. He'll have optional classes where he goes over problems. Your entire grade depends on 4 quizzes and 2 midterms, but he was nice and made the tests relatively easy. the class is good if you are a self-learner.
The reviews are good because of his personality. In reality, he has no idea how to run an online class. There is lots of homework (which doesn't go towards your grade) and little actual teaching being done. Tests are graded harshly -- if you mess up one detail on a question you get no points. No leniency if you are sick during the pandemic.
As long as you keep up to date with the lectures and use the resources he provides, you will get the material down. Practice matters and doing the homework as well as checking in on the group discussions for solving the tougher problems will prepare for the quizzes and exams.
Please don't be fooled by the reviews left from the pass. I took this class solely because of the reviews and I regret it so much. He may have been a good teacher when the classes weren't online, but he is horrible. Our entire grade this quarter depends on the quizzes and tests because he doesn't give homework (he only has given two all quarter). -
He gave a question in our quiz and only one person had full credit yet he refused to let us redoit. Asked for extra credit and he made one that only added .16 to the total grade percentage. Everyone complained and his answer in zoom was basically that it is what it is and we should "stop acting like teachers, this is not high school". Extremly rude
He does not teach at all, his PowerPoints aren't made by him. He does zoom frequently but only does homework questions that students ask (even then he won't do some just because). He does not teach at all, you have to teach yourself and watch khan academy. Does not give you feedback and isn't good in communicating with students. Do not recommend!
Absolutely great teacher, reduced requirements because of covid, do the homework and you will be 100% prepared. I did not do the homework for 1 section once, and that was the only bad grade I got. He does make some small mistakes on his hand outs and answers, but he will change/correct them if they are indeed wrong. Lectures are optional to attend.
You have to learn from the outdated powerpoints. He does not do any lectures/teach. Throws a few curveballs on the quizzes. Basically, you have to teach yourself the content and expect the unexpected on quizzes. Would not recommend. Maybe he's a good prof in person, but he is bad for remote learning. He did do Q&A sessions.
Tony has an acquired taste class structure. We had 3 classes a week and 1 test every 2-3 weeks with the midterm being one of them. Hw is decent and if you do it and understand it well then the tests are fine. Our only grades are tests with a couple of hw assignments being marked. All tests are proctored so be prepared. Easy to get help from as well
Regarding how online went, he would record all his meetings (which were very helpful) and provide links to helpful resources. His quizzes and exams were very similar to the homework. Quizzes were focused on the basic knowledge and use of skills, while tests were more challenging and required more creativity for solving.
Professor Akhlaghi is not only a great professor but a straight forward one. His lectures are great and taught well. He also records his lectures if you can't attend his zoom meetings and other past lectures from previous quarters. The resources he provides are nice and overall if you just do the practice HW you'll do fine in the tests.
He is a great professor. He makes sure everyone understands the material, so don't be afraid to speak if you need help. You need a 96% to get an A with mainly quizzes and two exams. Do the homework, the quiz and test questions based on them. For extra help, watch videos he has put up. Zoom meetings are recorded so it's okay to miss a lecture.
A lot of the earlier reviews are inaccurate. One time I asked him to explain a trig concept that I should've known, and he did so without making me feel stupid. Tests, quizzes, occasional graded hw are the only things he grades by. Lots of test & quiz qs are pulled straight from the option hw, so make sure to do those. He's a good lecturer as well.
i struggled in this class a lot. but i didn't do the hw so it could've just been because of that. tony is a great professor and he encourages you to ask questions. he's really funny, but he gives almost no extra credit and you're only graded on 8 things for the whole quarter. if you do the hw, read the textbooks, and actually study you'll do great
Tony is a great professor. His lectures are usually very informative and helpful, and you can tell he really cares about his students. Very understanding and accommodating will work with you if you have any issues. You have to do the HW to do well on the tests, and the tests make up almost your entire grade.
This guy is incapable of communicating with you. He will not answer your questions on homework. He simply gives you an A whether or not you got it right. This made learning EXTREMELY hard since I didn't know what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong. The online textbook is also god awful. Take a different instructor.
Professor Akhlaghi is the best math teacher I've had in a while. He's straight to the point with what you can do to do well in the class. He's the same with his lectures and preparing you for quizzes/exams. Things are super clear in his class. He's also tech-savy so his canvas has fun emojis and is really easy to follow!
One of my favorite professors I have ever had. really takes his time to explain everything in the lectures a and hw is light. you should more of the hw that isn't graded to make sure you are prepared. what is on the test is what you do for hw nothing out of the ordinary.
Able to turn in all assignments late for full credit, only 4 tests and they are accurate to what you learn, he posts his notes along with lectures so i would just read the notes and only watch the lectures if i struggled the material. A few projects but none take a lot of time, if you do the work youre good to go. hes super understanding :))
Tony was my first Math course I had taken in my entire life, I had to select other math teachers to get a better grade to get into UW. I was accepted and have since graduated in mathematics. I have never had a better math teacher. I tutor and reference my notes from this class to this day. I wish grades mattered less so I could go back in time.
When I had this professor, he was actually really chill and taught Math really well. I didn't even have to look at the textbook (except for the last 2 units). But recently, I've heard he's gotten tougher, so good luck! Also, exams required zoom.
Professor Akhlaghi is a great teacher. He will answer questions you have on the homework during class and records the lectures so they can be watched later. Unfortunately he is very strict about test dates and grading. You will need a 96% in the class to get an A, so it is likely you will have to do extra credit, but the EC options are not hard.
Things I wish I knew before starting his class online... He does not know how to manage an online class. We are expected to take his tests at certain timings no matter what (bad for part time HS students) and his final test is in person in an ONLINE class. Only thing graded are his tests which you'll do fine if you do the HW.
I really struggled learning calc concepts, and taking Professor Akhlaghi was the only reason I got an A. The entire grade is based on four quizzes, a midterm, final, and extra credit. Test questions are exactly like the homework, so if you do all the homework and attend lectures, you're bound to get a good grade.
His lectures are thorough and all available on Canvas if you miss a live session or need to review. Very approachable professor, I contacted him via email or over Zoom during his office hours several times over the quarter. He also has discussion boards he is quick to reply to. Extra credit biography papers, which was extremely helpful for me.
Professor Tony is a nice guy. But his lectures are very long and hard to understand. Just to let you know that your grade is solely based off if quizzes, so if you're not a test taker person... do not take this class. He provides 2 extra credit assignments (which you should do). There is no study guide for the midterm and final have to remember all
Tony is a great professor but you need to put in the work. All of his grades are based on tests and quizzes. If you do the homework you will pass the class. I did no homework and I am not the best at math and I passed the class. My course was all online, which made it way easier for me. I'm sure if this class was in person it would be hard.
Tony was pretty brutal. He only grades on five assignments and they are all testing quizzes. He gives no credit for showing work so you have to get the answer the way he wants it or else you fail
Professor Akhlaghi is a nice guy, but I wouldn't take him again. My biggest qualm is that he sets the grading scale so that an A is 96+. You are graded on 4 quizzes, the midterm, and the final (in-person). No study guide, but he will copy test questions from the homework. Do the homework and you should be fine, unless you aren't a good test-taker.
This professor was difficult to communicate with. He only grades on five assignments and they are all large point value quizzes. He gives no credit for showing work so you have to get the answer the way he wants it or else you fail. Study guides are given but don't reflect what will be on the test.
If you are ok with getting a 3.7 rather than a 4.0, are taking the class in-person, and want the best teacher possible, then you should pick him. He is the best math lecturer on campus, but his large quantity of quizzes and tests plus his strange requirement of a 96% for a 4.0 means you are unlikely to get a perfect grade. Still a fantastic guy.
The grade is based on a total of 400 points, which all come down to 6 tests (A = 96%). Akhlaghi is an amazing professor who was able to lecture in an effective way. His class does not take a lot of time (usually 3 hours of lecture a week), and his tests involve the "easier" problems from the homework. He also answers nearly all homework questions!
I don't know where he got all of these good reviews. His lectures move quickly through concepts so the homework was really difficult to complete. Lots of trick questions on the tests, that are your only grade! He also pretty much gas lit the entire class when he sent an email saying he refused to take blame for all the people who failed the final..
This is a tough Professor. Usually, an A requires a 96%. For reference, most Bellevue College classes require a 93% for an A, and for math classes it is usually a 94%. However, he teaches well, gives good lectures, and you can always ask him questions or come to his office hours. He is great for learning, but bad for your GPA.
I was scared to take this class after seeing that the entire grade is based off of the quizzes and exams. However, Professor Akhlagi is such a good teacher who knows how to teach and clearly cares about his students. The tests are very similar to the homework. You have to study, but don't be scared about this class. Best math teacher I've ever had!
The GREATEST math teacher to exist at bellevue college, and i truly mean this with no exaggeration. I started taking tony in 2022 January, for math 142(pre calc 2). He was such gold that I took him for calc1 and 2. Truly anyone that says he was a difficult didnt put in any work. watch the lecture live, ask questions, and do optional HW!
He has lectures at the beginning of every week where he talks very slow and doesn't go to in depth about the idea he's teaching. He responds to emails somewhat fast, however he only grades 3 quizzes that are multiple choice, a take home quiz, a midterm, and a final. He does not grade homework or openly help you.If you can't teach yourself get tutor
This review is aimed at the online course. Very poorly put together, it was very hard to follow and he did not use any of the conventions used in canvas like publishing due dates. If you're going to take an online course just go to udemy or coursera it's only like 20-50 dollars and the courses are put together way better.
Tony is a good teacher but lacks care for his online students. All he provides you with is recorded lectures which are hard to understand when you're using them to study for Exams and Quizzes. He also does not provide you with a study guide for Exams and just tells you to do your best by using the textbook's homework problems.
The course has only 3 Exams and a couple of quizzes. Questions for Exams and Quizzes are from the optional HW given. It has optional live lectures even though it's an online class. The Exams can replace each other's scores if one of them is higher. Go hard in the beginning, and you will do fine! Probably the best math teacher at BC.
His lecture is awesome however his grading system is tough
Best math professor at BC. Lectures are good and to the point. Holds lots of office hours and very willing to help. The test problems are like the homework problems which goes over until you understand. Very fair grader. Wonderful professor, wish he taught upper division math courses so I could take him again.
I very much liked Tony as he was very caring about his students and always did the best he could to help you but I genuinely think that he forgets his online students/course. He's basically like an old grandpa who's always having technological issues with basic stuff. I would highly recommend taking his in-person classes instead of his online ones
Tony is a great lecturer and is always looking to answer any questions you may have. His course consists of fairly easy quizzes and 2-3 on-campus exams. He occasionally offers opportunities to improve your grade as well. Watching his lectures and practicing the optional homework are the key ingredients to passing his course. Fun guy!
Professor Akhlaghi is very good at teaching calculus, I found this class way easier than I expected it would be. You're mostly graded on 3 quizzes and 3 exams, but he gives generous partial credit when you show your work on the exams and the questions aren't overly complicated. If you study and understand the concepts, you'll do well.
Best math professor ever. An amazing lecturer who will make you love Calc. Exams reflect what was covered in the class and often include hw problems. The grade was 3 quizzes, 3 exams. Out of this, only 2 exams were in person. Hw was optional but do it anyway. Lots of opportunities to bump up your grade. He is also accessible outside of class.
Prof Akhlaghi is probably one of the best Calc professors at BC hes super caring and would help you out if you need help, course consisted of 3 quizzes 1 online and 2 on paper which you can take home to do and 3 exams final was online. I personally was scared of going into 152 cause 151 was hard but he makes it so easy. Take him trust lots of EC!
Tony has taught Math for a long time, since calc is a difficult subject I don't think I should complain much about the difficulty. Overall, Tony is a good Professor, and very supportive.
Prof. Akhlaghi was by far the greatest teacher I have ever had. I used to hate math but after taking his class, I finally got it. He has an acute ability in ensuring everyone understand how and why the principles of math work. I wish all of my teachers taught the way he does.
Not very hard if you watch all the recordings twice. Make sure to do the homework. All the content on the exams and quizzes is similar to those homework questions. You don't have to take the final if you get all A's in the quizzes and the exams you did. I don't have to take the final which is pretty nice. Recommended.
His class is okay, not the best. Your entire grade depends on the Exams and 3 quizzes so if you fail even 1 then it's really difficult to get an A. His minimum for an A is 96-100 which is pretty big imo compared to other classes. He's not very specific, his class is basically self study.
Do not take the online class if you aren't good at pacing yourself. P. Akhlaghi is not bad teacher but the videos/zooms were a little hard to understand. You are mostly teaching yourself, beware and go to office hours. There are 3 exams and he grades on final answer, no partial credit at all. There are a few quizzes but exams are the most important.
Professor has a specific teaching style, but it works well if you engage with it. Lectures are worth attending, and using resources like unstuckstudy ai can really help with study prep. Overall, a good math professor who cares about student learning.
Online, but when I went to go meet him during tests or office hours, he was nice. This class, you must be able to teach yourself through his videos and other sources on youtube. quiz online and 3 test inperson if you have an A+ by the time finals come around, then he will exempt you from the final and that A+ is your final grade. SO DO WELL EARLY.
I present to you the greatest math professor of the modern era! Keys to success: 1. Attend/Rewatch his lectures 2. Do his homework problems 3. Ask questions. Sadly I'm unable to take him for calc-2 as his class fills up FAST! Keep in mind, it's self-paced, no hw credit (only tests) & you need to get a 96% for an A (some extra credit opportunity).
One thing that I will note that can bring down the professor is how little the professor grades. Like, ten to eleven things, which makes the grade harder to maintain. But the professor makes the class understandable, and workable. The assignments are also there to help with things. And the professor makes sure to answer questions that are asked.
Easy extra credit. No homework at all. Good lectures. The exams are easy and similar to the online quizzes. Only watched the videos, did no extra homework, didn't study and still got 102 percent for final grade. Just watch the videos, understand it, and review past exam/quizzes and bam easy. He also replaces lowest grade with final grade. Best prof
Wonderful Calc 1 experience
Professor Akhlaghi is the best teacher for any math class hands down. If you just don't procrastinate and get the help you need you'll do just fine.
This person will not provide you with common formulas on your paper, will not allow you to bring notes with you on the test, will not provide you with SAMPLES for the test to practice with. And the lectures are very average. He is also very strict in grading the exams.
This teacher is the most easy and chill teacher I've ever had, don't listen to the bad reviews cuz Tony is such an easy grader. Note that this is a hard math class and is online so if you can't pace yourself and lack self-study skills then this class in not for you. Three tests and three quizzes, the in person tests worth a lot of points.
Tony is one of the best math teachers I've ever had! His class fills up fast, so be prepared—it's self-paced, homework isn't graded (only tests count), and you need a 96% for an A (with some extra credit available). To succeed, make sure to attend or rewatch his lectures, complete the homework problems for practice, and ask questions when needed.
My favorite professor I have ever taken. Great at teaching, is always there for you if you need help on problems, and is genuinely just a great guy. We a few quizzes and 2 exams along with the final, if you do the work and practice you will do great. Don't listen to the bad reviews Tony is the goat!
Akhlaghi might not be the best math professor, but he is sure a nice professor. His lectures were helpful and well organized, and they were sufficient for me to solve most of the homework problems (Which are optional). Tests and quizzes were solely on concepts, no curveballs; I was easily able to get 100.
Tony really cares about his students. I felt very supported while taking his online class. He offers 3 weekly zoom sessions and covers homework problems. Grade is formed by 3 online quizzes and 3 in-person exams. He offers 19 points in extra credit which is very generous. No final if your grade is within 96-100 % after the second exam.
Prof Akhlagi is great. For reference, I normally cannot stand lectures and always ran right to the textbook bc I hated the way most professors teach math. However, Akhlagi was probably the one professor who's lectures r WAYY better than the textbook. No faff, focuses on important main ideas and explains stuff in simple terms. 10/10
Goated prof. My second time taking him and he is one of the best math profs at BC. If you had higher than 90, optional final. Exams similar to the HW, no curveballs. Lecture videos are amazing, explains math in a straightforward manner w many examples. Just watch the lectures, practice HW, attend office hours before exams.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR AT BELLEVUE COLLEGE! By far, he is so caring, understanding, and always has students' best interests in mind. I failed his first exam in calculus 2, and still ended the semester with an A. He provides lots of feedback, and is open to helping you online, in-person, however you need. Recommend him to everyone!
Wow this professor was one of the best professors I have ever taken in my life. This guys knows how to teach. Plenty of extra credit, lectures are super clear and covers many examples. Exams are exactly like the study guide and he's an easy grader. Highly recommend taking calcI&II. Can't believe I went from this Tony to LUKE DRAWLING(dont take him)
I am genuinely shocked by how many 5 stars this professor has, and it's probably due to how hands off he is, so it's an "easy class" for some. But if you are someone who has a hard time with math DO NOT take this class. Your grade is 100% exams and his method of "teaching" is sending you to Khan Academy and other self taught methods. Avoid.
The toughest grader I've seen. I set up problems before and would mess up on a negative or forgetting a trig identity and it's full points off. No matter if I understood the concept or set up of thr promble. If you don't get it right, you don't get any points
After taking math classes with other high rated professors at BC, I'm coming back to write professor Akhlaghi another 5* review because I didn't truly appreciate how good of a teacher he is. His lectures are by FAR the best amongst all of the professors. Learn the material, do most of his "optional" homeworks, and you will do great on the tests.
His lectures were confusing sometimes and lots to watch on your own, but manageable. His way of teaching is good for some, I would rather take in person class instead. Quizzes are easy, no homework, all grades are just the tests and finals. Tests are way easier than final, just focus on derivatives mostly on both. Final replaces lowest test grade.
Lectures were just him doing practice problems, but I'd watch them to have a clear idea of what he'd put on exams. DO. THE. HOMEWORK. Do it once and then do it again and do it three times just for good measure. It's an online course, so a lot was just self-learning through the videos he provides. If you're after just the credit, Tony's great.
If you have adhd or poor independent study skills, I suggest not taking him, as you must space out the homework (ungraded) and lectures yourself. Your grade solely consists of quizzes and exams. The quizzes were easier, but due to the limited number of questions on exams, a few mistakes result in a poor grade. Just study and practice hard!
His way of instruction may or may not click for some and his class is not for everybody. Some might excel with his different way of instruction, others might struggle. If you have excellent study habits and can prepare for tests, it's great. If you can't, trust your gut and move on.
-Optional online sessions and homework not graded (although doing them is recommended) -Graded by quizzes, test, and extra credit assignment (biography due by mid-quarter) -Quizzes are online, exams are in-person
He is good professor and I will take his class again.
get ready to teach everything by your self, i took this class online, and i had to learn every concept by my self it was difficult, but managable, his lecture arent so helpful, i didnt even watch any of his lacture, but if you are struggling with math and you need a good amount of help, dont expect that from him, he only helps online.
...........
You just need to understand the concepts once and then practice, redo the homework a few times.exams are manageable; spending a couple of hours three times a week isn't that hard, especially for Calc. The professor explains everything clearly and is not a tough grader at all — he focuses on the steps of your solution, not just the final answer.
best teacher of all time, but you have to self-study, take it if you like to self-study, but if you are bad at math dont take it, although, make sure to do good on the 1st and 2nd exam, if you have 87+ you can skip the final, so people who got like 96, they didnt do the final. great proffesor, be ready to teach your self, every concept.
Great proffesor would take him again for sure, ace exam 1 and 2 which are easier than the homework and no need to take the final. Very leniant teacher nothing bad about him.
first off, i just wanna say thank you to professor aklaghi, hes a gem. i took him for calc one, and your entire grade is 3 tests out of 100, and 3 quizzes (all online on friday's) out of 20. i dont know if he does it for every quarter, but this quarter he had a condition where you could skip the final if you have an 87 or higher. DO ALL Homework.
Best math professor at BC beyond a shadow of a doubt. To succeed: Watch his lectures (they're amazing), do all of the “optional” homeworks, & ask questions. 100% of your grade comes from quizzes and exams. No practice tests but his exams are exactly what you expect, never throws curveballs. Fastest grader I've ever seen! He is a gem.
BEST CALC PROF EVER! Great lectures, clear about HW/tests, and SM EC OPPORTUNITIES which boost ur grade. Optional final if u have a B+. Genuinely great guy and funny, please take him. DO THE HW (exams are actually easier than the HW) & ask q's. Fast grader, responds quickly, cares about his students a lot. You have to be good at self-studying tho.
Brilliantly explains concepts. I passed AP Calc AB by the skin of my teeth, and he broke down calc 2 so well even I could succeed. If you bomb one of your tests, he replaces your grade on the bad test with your grade on the final. I didn't do a single homework problem, just took notes from his lectures and did fine.
He is a very fair professor, and has a lot of office hours. He offers a lot of extra credit(2 essays for 5 points each, and around 2-3 points for surveys about IRL test times). He uses the textbook exclusively, and doesn't post any other problems outside of those text books. If you have an 87% before the final, you don't have to take it.
The way that Professor Akhlaghi explained concepts and problems was very easy to understand. He assigns multiple practice problems (not graded) and goes over questions that students may have a hard time solving. For sure will be taking his MATH&152 class!
