Funny guy...his study guides are nearly identical to the test, not to mention the 'retest' for an extra 30 points each time avereged into a dialy grade. If you go to class and study, you will have an A.
Great entertainer! He was fun to have as a teacher and made passing economics easier than the first time I failed it!
he's hilarious, but please be on time for class or else he'll make a hilarious joke out of you!!

He is very nice and helpful. Easy if you go to class and take notes.
Great teacher, interesting and very informative
The dude rocks!

Best teacher i have ever had.. this guy is a genius he knows something about everything.. he will crack you up to.. just picture a big italian guy with a great sense of humor.. dont be late, sleep, or do other homework b/c he will bust your ass
Eh. Not a big economics fan to begin with, he was OK though. Very smart but also tended to be a bit of a pompous ass from time to time. Learned a lot in the class, not sure how much of it was useful though.
This is the best class Ive ever taken. I liked it so much ECON is now my major. Dr. Barilla is a great teacher. He kept it very interesting. He has a quick temper, but only if you cross him. Here is some advice. Do not sleep, talk, read, or do anything else that looks like your not paying attention cause your ass will be out the door!
Possibly the best teacher on this entire campus. He knows what he's talking about, and if you show up to class and take notes and you'll do fine

For most of the semester he was great. Funny, talkative, encouraging questions. Then, the the week before the exam he just... snapped. Screamed at one student for absolutely nothing and then told everyone to get out of there. It was absolutely over the top. Also, he grades on a real curve meaning that 1/2 the class is guaranteed a C, D or F.
Barilla was a good teacher. He was slightly intimidating and knows that he is egotistical! I went to class, paid attention, took good notes and studied hard for the tests and I got an A. He does not believe in going by the textbook so buying it is a waste of time.
He's either the best or the worst professor you will have at GSU. He's entertaining, enthralling, and a great showman. But all in all the concepts he talks about take all of 15 minutes of class time while the showmanship lasts for the rest. There's not a lot of steak but a lot of sizzle. I have to take ECON again, I'm still taking it with Barilla.
Very difficult class. Dr Barrila makes it fun and interesting. I loved how he made the class useful not just with Economics but with everyday life. He knows hes smart and doesnt put up with any crap. You will either love him or hate him. He gives out practice study-guides that will help on the test. Go to class regularly and you should do fine.
I love Dr. Barilla! I always hated econ. until I took his class. He was the first professor I had here at Southern and I will never forget him. His class really isn't that hard if you take good notes (as in write down everything he says) and show up to class. I think I may take him just for fun sometime soon.
This guy knows his stuff. By far the best professor I've had. You will learn more in his class than most classes you will take. If you take good notes, study hard, and attend class you should make a decent grade. Be prepared to work, not a class for slackers.
HE IS VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND THE FIRST TIME AROUND!!
Great, great, great econ professor! He really knows his stuff and makes it very easy to understand. He has a great personality and I really liked going to class, mainly because I learned so much! His tests can be a bit hard and sometimes tricky.
Awesome teacher that made the class very interesting. Hopefully I can get some more of his classes. Go to class and take notes and you will do well in his class.
Really awesome class! I think I enjoyed this class more than any other I've taken. It is crucial though to go to class, take good notes, pay attention and study. The tests are difficult.
I would like to start off by sayinghis class was my first C in college and im 23 years old. That said, he is hilarious and funny and curses but he is also egotistical and arrogant! He thinks he knows everything about everything. He does know econ and teaches it well but when its time for the test they are tricky! U think u understand until the test
By far the coolest professor I've ever had. TAKE HIM IF POSSIBLE. He is hilarious and makes economics halfway interesting. Going to his class is sort of like going to see a stand-up comic. He grades on a curve, and the tests can be tricky at times, but he offers alot of easy work to help bring your grade up if you're struggling. A+++ professor.
Take this guy and you will not regret it. Absolutely hilarious. Makes economics very interesting. His tests aren't that hard, and he grades on a curve. Attendance is not mandatory. For a 75 minute class, only about half is actual material, and the other half is just him joking around. You'll enjoy it. Made an A in the class. Would take again.
Greatest thing since sliced bread
Take him on wednesdays from 6:30- 9:15. trust me, it is like goint to see a comedian talk about economics. He is serious and joking at the same time. go to class and study hard. But be reminded that he is egotistical. respect him though and he will respect you. Use your cell phone in class, and he gets royally pissed off. not going to class = F.
You may like or dislike his personality, but by far the best teacher i've ever had. though he was funny too. you dont need to buy the book either.
The guy is somewhat of a jerk and his class isn't as easy as others make it sound on here. You only have three tests and then the final. He cracks the occasional joke but he's cocky and when challenged by students he gets angry.
Hard class, really hard tests.
He is a cool guy in class but if you see him out anywhere he's rude. The class is okay for Economics but his tests are difficult.
My grade: A (95) -/- Take his Wednesday course (6:30PM-9:30PM), it's more enjoyable. The people who rated this professor poorly DID NOT attend class. The tests came from his EASY to understand lectures. Never purchased the book. Very little homework. Average college-course difficulty. Fun but cocky professor with a photographic memory.
I attended every class, and I was in the night class, and I still do not think this guy is a good teacher. He's moody and arrogant. His first test is easy, his second one is so hard it might as well be in another language. Take another Econ teacher. I made a low A in the class and still would NOT take this guy again.
Hard class and tests are crazy.
He has tenure and is not afraid to cuss you out in class. It's not pretty when it happens. He'll teach you a concept then presents it in a different format on the test which is kinda frustrating. You must attend to do well. Along with economics you will also learn pointless Italian trivia. Would only recommend for students who have over a 3.0
Very great teacher, makes economics fun. His lectures are very interesting, and the tests are pretty easy too. He posts a practice test online that has many of the same questions as the test, just look over it once and you'll get an A on the test. Take him!
Dr. Barilla is great. I'm a science major so I didn't go into the class expecting to enjoy it but I did. He makes the stuff interesting and spends half the time telling jokes. WILL call you out if you walk into class late or your phone goes off. Take him if you want to learn something. If you don't, stay home with momma.
I loved Dr. Barilla! He was extremely entertaining and made the class laugh lots! His test are fairly simple if you just attend class bc he gives you all the info you need. Don't need to buy a book! Definitely take him, great econ teacher and will make a usually boring class so interesting.
I took Dr. Barilla for both 2105 and 2106. He has a great sense of humor. He is a little cocky but has the credentials to back it up. Attendence is a must! His lectures are very clear and he will always make sure everyone understands. He will answer your questions if you ever have any. Respect him and he will respect you back. Favorite Prof by far!!
It was a hard class... if you didn't show up. If you go to class, take notes, and TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE!!!!! you will make an A, easy. NO TEXT BOOK NEEDED
Dr. Barilla really wants you to know and understand what he is teaching, so show up to class, take detailed notes, and ask questions if you don't understand. Go to class and DO NOT TEXT. I can't stress that enough. His tests aren't bad, study with a friend, do the practice test online, and you should make an A. Do the homework! It helps your grade!
large lecture with about 100 people plus. You want to go to class since he doesn't go by the book. He is one of those teachers who will rage hard core at you if you are texting during his lecture or come in late. (which I always found entertaining, once at a janitor) he is a megalomaniac, he tends to try to impress his students. but hes ok..
Dr.Barilla is one of the best professors/classes ive had in my collegiate career. He expects his students to act like adults and not text or walk in front of him while hes lecturing because your late. He really does care that everyone in the class understands the material and will go the extra mile to make sure you understand. Great guy!
Take this guy!
his notes are easy but when the test comes the material is presented differently. during class you feel like you understand but fail your tests.
Take Dr. Barilla. He's not afraid to talk about how smart he is but if you listen to the man talk you can't really argue with him. He's hilarious and he can explain economics easily and makes it understandable. Don't buy the book. I hated Econ but with him teaching I looked forward to going to class
He's very good at lecture and clear with his notes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but go to class or you will be completely lost. He's VERY egotistical and if you try to argue or correct him you won't win. You don't need the book, but he wrote his own textbook so you might need to buy that one when it comes out. Tests are multiple choice.
Really good professor but can sometime get hard to understand. ASK QUESTIONS. If you don't you are guaranteed to be lost. Attend his office hours. He looks intimidating but he's the nicest guy really. Don't really need the book unless you want it. Took him for 2105 too because he is a great professor. Don't come in late or walk in front of him.
OMG! Horrible. You would ask a question and he would not reply for at least a week or more. The class was really hard, especially online, and the online homework was really hard. Unless you can completely do the class without ANY quests do not take him!
Barilla is AWESOME! He makes things so simple you wouldn't even believe what you've learned. It's truly impressive. He doesn't look like the average professor, nor does he act like it. He's hilarious and he doesn't use the book OR notes at all! Take notes and DO NOT TEXT IN CLASS.
Does a good job of keeping the class interesting. Very knowledgeable about everything covered in the course. Take him!
His class is interesting, and he makes econ class very simple. Attendance is not mandatory but if you want to pass the exams you should go to class.
He got angry whenever we emailed him and had us on about three or four different website (still not sure at this point). He liked what he taught but i really do not recommend taking him online. He may be better in a classroom setting. His emails back to us began to get more and more condescending towards the end.
Barilla is an awesome professor. He knows his stuff and explains it in a discussion style so you can debate and understand the issues. Most I've gotten out of any major courses so fun.
professor was very clear about every bit of the subject matter and helps u in every way he can. he cares about the students and though its a difficult course it is completely worth taking.
I loved this professor. He is quite obnoxious but he is also pretty hilarious and easy. I had a hard time understanding econ in high school. He made it seem so easy. This class was a breeze and it was fun to attend.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ONLINE! If you e-mail him with a question, it takes forever for him to respond, and most of the time you don't get a response at all. He uses Aplia that take the average of your 3 attempts to a question instead of the higher grade like everyone else. Stay away!
He is very Helpful and funny. His tests are difficult, if you go to class and takes notes and study you will be fine! Go in to get help too!
He has lived the life! He helped me alot.. I struggled alot but still managed to pass! His lectures are great!!! he makes his class very interesting I highly recommend his class!!!
Dr. Barilla has memorized the lectures. He sits and just spits everything back to you, but does it in a VERY hilarious and motivating way! He loves what he does and will share with you many stories to keep you interested. Tests are a bit rough, but study. Gives a statistical curve which lowers the standards of each grade letter. TAKE!!!
I love Barilla. He knows what he is talking about and doesn't teach from a powerpoint it comes straight from his head. His lectures are great because he connects the information to real life examples. TAKE HIM FOR ECON 2105!
Tests are hard, but he is a great professor! Go to class if you wish to pass.
Barilla is the best teacher I have ever had at Georgia Southern. His lectures are hilarious and if you have any questions, he is very willing to explain it until you understand. His lectures are all off the top of his head and he rarely uses the board at all. It is very entertaining and easy to follow along.
Barilla is the funniest and nicest professor by far. He's very helpful and willing to work with you if you're willing to try. He's definitely passionate about economics in America so he keeps class interesting and updated on the current status of the crazy economics going on. He's hilarious, show him respect and laugh at his jokes and STUDY.
I never understood Econ until I took this teacher. This class is NOT easy, but Barilla gives really good lectures and real world examples that help you understand.
Dr. B , he is awesome keeps your attention and makes it easy to understand. I am currently taken his class and have an A. Gives homework but are not hard , will answer any questions you have. Also gives study guides so you should be more than prepared for his class
Professor Barilla is hands down the best professor I have taken at GSU. I have always been terrible with Economics and he easily explains everything so well during class that it was so easy to understand everything outside of class while studying. He doesn't do trick questions and his tests are exactly his study guide. GO TO CLASS!
Hilarious and makes a boring class really fun. I would recommend taking him for sure. Attendance is not mandatory but you won't understand what he's talking about if you skip too much. Tests are easy if you pay attention and take decent notes
Every econ major at Georgia Southern should have to take Barilla. He is an amazing professor. He gives 2 tests, which are fairly easy and 2 group presentations. His feedback is great and clearly only wants to help his students.
Great prof! i'm not a fan of econ and was really worried about it. He made lessons simple and I'm an avid note taker, so i filled up an entire notebook, but some barely took notes. My test scores became progressively better. He actually let me switch classes into his later one. no attendance policy, but if you showed up, he was willing to help.
I am not the biggest economics fan, but his lectures are interesting and easy to understand. In order to do well on tests, make sure to take the quizzes and take notes on the lecture. You don't need the textbook. I would definitely recommend him.
Barilla is the best Econ professor hands down. Tells you what is expected & it's up to you to do it. Go to class, take decent notes, and his study guides favor his tests. Therefore, between the notes and those you shouldn't have any problem passing. Very helpful inside and out of the class. He will give you lifelong advice that's helpful too!
Definitely spits lectures from his head. Great guy, he cares, he doesn't want you to fail. The first test is the same as the study guide, and from there you're expected to do well! Just study. He also pays for tutoring, so go to that, too!
Best professor you can take for ECON!!! Lectures were easy to understand and straight forward, just go to class, do the homework, and you'll do good in the class.
Challenging class
He is a good professor and tries to make lectures interesting and simple. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go to class, you probably wont do well. He is funny, but you will definitely have to study if you expect to do well in the class. Make sure you do the homework because it counts for a lot of your grade and is an easy A.
Tough class, but prof makes it bearable. I liked him. You should try his pasta.
Really good professor. His lectures are clear and he makes them interesting. Best option for the ECON core class. Take lots of notes and ASK QUESTIONS. I didn't read the book, but reading it would definitely help.
I have never taken an economics class before this one, so I had no previous knowledge to the material. His lectures make the difficult material easy to understand, but his test are application and scenarios based. Do not be afraid to ask questions in class and search for the practice test online!
Barilla has the best lectures and is a funny dude. Attendance isn't required, but is highly recommended. He is an awesome professor for Econ, because of how clearly he is able to teach the material. It's an easy A if you go to class and pay attention.
Economics, Italian style!
Very good teacher, Attendance isn't mandatory but going to class is a good idea if you want to pass. He is very nice and funny and good at teaching. My only advice is that you NEVER walk in front of him
Barilla is a great professor. He makes the class entertaining and useful. He is a funny guy and will actually make you understand the topics. Attendance is not mandatory but you will lose yourself if you dont go. A lot of homework but very useful. Tests are easy and cover every single topic. Dont ever pass in front of him while lecturing.
Best teacher I have ever had. His lectures are actually entertaining and he tells amazing stories. Tests are extremely fair and he gives just the right amount of homework.
Hes the best teacher you can take for Econ. He wont change subjects until everyone understands the topic. He understands the college lingo and knows how to relate to his students. His class is easy to pass if you attend class take notes. You will learn everything you need to know for the test from in class notes. He wants you to succeed It shows
Take notes in class, ask questions, complete the homework, and complete the practice tests online. He is an excellent teacher and does his best to make sure you understand the material. If you are a good student, this class is an easy A. I highly recommend him!
You go to class, you will pass. Sometimes he goes off topic but he makes his lectures interesting! Do the homeworks & the study guides and you will pass! I finished with an A! Hes amazing and i do love his stories!
We had two papers and two exams in this class. The exams are 50% student made and he gives you the answers to them so his class is almost impossible to fail. He tries to make his lectures interesting and I enjoyed learning in this class.
Had great lectures, and made the class super easy. The quizzes are the test, exactly like it should be. I will be taking him again.
If you have to take Macro for a pre requisite like I did, do yourself a favor and TAKE BARILLA!! He is amazing, he really cares about the students success. His class is mostly lectures, but he has a great sense of humor so it makes learning about econ not so painful. I had trouble understanding a concept and he sat with me until I understood it.
Awesome dude! He tries to make economics interesting + relate it to real life. Homework questions are pretty easy and do not take too long. Everything was multiple choice. The tests were very similar to quizzes. I would definitely recommend him online or in-person, nice guy!
Really great guy who cares about your success. Attendance was not mandatory and he would post all of his lectures online so you can look back over them. One homework per unit and 3 tests kind of like the homework questions! If you put in a little effort you will do fine!
He is such a good professor, really tries to connect with students. Makes notes and goes over in class and posts online. Tests real easy and homework every few weeks. One of the best professors I have had.
TAKE HIM. Not only is he a great professor but he's a great guy. You can tell he really cares about his students and wants them to do good. His tests and hw's are straight forward and if you pay attention you will pass. He offers zoom's but their not mandatory. I suggest going though, they are super help full. If you have the opportunity take him
One of the best teachers at GA southern. Don't care about attendance as long as you get your homework and work done. Barely any work. Would definitely take again.
Great teacher. You can tell he cares about his students and their success in his class. Pay attention and you will do well.
Tony Barilla was an awesome teacher and I enjoyed his class. He is very funny and knows a lot about what he is teaching. I only made a C in the class because of my poor test-taking abilities. If you study the homework and pay attention in class you will do fine on the test. GO TO CLASS!
I have never had a more unbearable professor who has managed to talk about themselves and brag about their achievements more than anything else. We could have covered double the amount of material each day had he stopped trying to get us to fawn over him. He knows his stuff though. As long as you can tolerate his ego-inflated personality, take him.
Absolutely love this man! He wants to see all his students succeed and he is such a good and entertaining speaker. I can't recommend him enough. His transportation class is so interesting.
Attendance isn't required but extremely helpful to keep up with the content. Lectures are enjoyable and aren't copy paste from a textbook. Most test questions come straight from the homework assignments. He does chat about random things in lectures but still covers the material.
One of the best Teachers. He definitely cares about his students and he wants them to succeed. Attendance is not mandatory but necessary if you want to do well. He gives you the resources to do well, and is always willing to help. I would definitely take again. Just put some effort in and you will do fine.
I had him for online macroeconomics. All of his tests and homework answers i found on quizlet. He did zoom lectures that he posted, but attendance was not required. Really easy class, and an easy A if you take online.
