Really nice (and cute) guy. Lots of fun and a good teacher. Animal crackers in lab is awesome!
so nice, if you don't understand the material he will do anything he can to help you understand the material!
tony is cool as fizzuck
He rocks, he is really cool and helpful!! Best bio teacher at YCP!!
Really easy prof, plus you learn some stuff.
Super cool guy and very helpful... labs are fun and interesting... it's a very broad class so no one topic gets too boring, and he has a way to make everyone in class feel smart!
dude, tony is f'in cool as shiat, if you have to take lab, take it with this man...dont make fun of him cause he dresses like a sissy most of the time either mofo's
GReat teacher! Tests are not super easy, but you will do well if you go to class and study your notes. Exams right from notes.
Definitely take this class! I'm not great at science, but he makes it fun and easy. Definitely a good professor to take.
Easy A if you study & pay attention. Tests are reverse multiple choice, which means you get partial credit for every answer you can eliminate. 1 5-page paper graded very easily (A if you try hard!) Boring lecturer IMO, but one of the best lab instructors.
Very nice and helpful, but be aware that he is a tough grader. Don't be surprised if you get a C for the very hard work on the lab report that you wrote (this is a major grade). He's a great lab instructor though, always willing to help!
Tony is a nice guy, but very hard grader..I got an A on final and still got a C..what the heck !! Test are hard, study hard for them. Overall, a fun class, but hard grader.
tony is so cool. he explains everything about the lab at the beginning of class. be sure to write everything down b/c you'll see it again on a lab practical. he's easy-going but a hard grader. he tries to help you in any way possible.

Very nice person. Goes through all labs very well. He is extremely helpful and thorough with ALL labs. Easy A, if you pay attention in lab. cute too:)
Great Lab instructor. Really into BIO and it shows through his knowledge and lecture. Just show up, do the labs sheets/paper, study for the practicles and you'll do fine. Not a instructor for someone looking for an easy "A." Fair Grader, FAI
oh tony, what is there to say about tony? well, he's a tough grader but really helps you out. totally into that bacteria thing. oh compliment him on his hair, he loves that. the paper is tough but you can do it over!
Tests are very hard and unpredictable. Paper is a hard grade. And--I NEVER missed a class. Not an easy A or B.
Great Guy. He is a hard grader so DO YOU PAPER CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME AND HAND IN ALL LAB QUESTION SHEETS ONTIME!!!!! He really gets into the Bio stuff so he'll always be willing to help ya out. Just do what is expected and you'll do fine.

Tony is awesome. Second time I had him and I would take him again. Keeps class interesting, yet challenging. Great bonus questions on tests and entertaining slips of flamboyancy that will make you crack up. I'll never forget when he said he wished bio bags would burn rainbow instead of dark orange.
Botyrius is one of the most kind, passionate professors I have ever had. Truly cares for students and the field of biology. Almost changed my major to Bio because of him. Only complaint - I can't pronounce his last name!
he is a really nice guy, really flexible and fun to work with. he gets kinda anal about details, but overall he isn't too difficult to get along with. uses the lecture topics effectively in lab.
Tough class, but I busted my hump and did pretty well till the end. I had trouble with the last test, and the brought my average down .1 of a point short of a 3. He wouldn't bump me up b/c he said I was absent a lot. I missed two classes all semester.

super duper nice guy, funny, and put up with the **** from the dweebs in my class. i had a lot of trouble in the middle of the semester and he didn't really help me out when i went to him. still a nice guy. lectures kinda stunk though... but it's bio.

I can't believe that I enjoyed this class. Tony Botyrius is awesome. The tests can be tough. The labs were fun.
I would take him again, if I could. He always stopped and helped us if we didnt understand and explained things very thoroughly. Tests are kinda hard, but if you study then you'll do fine. He tried to make labs enjoyable - even though some of the labs just aren't fun. I recommend him to anyone!
tony is a really nice person and a good prof. i really understood things from his lectures and he explains things well in lab. he isnt hard to follow at all. i would take another prof because he grades insanely hard no matter how much work you put into assignments. he loves details but complains when there are too many! the class avg is a C-
Great teacher, he is very smart & teaches well.I would take him again for any classes. His test questions are tricky & u must study. He is very helpful on the day of the test.Labs never last the whole amount of time, but he makes them fun.He is a funny man!U have 4 test, group pres. & take-home final.U will work for your grade, but he teaches well!!!!
He took off points for every nit-picky thing possible on lab write ups. He is vague. Even when he tells you what he wants and you write that, he stil manages to deduct five points somehow.
this class was actually a lot of fun. the atmosphere was laid back, so it wasn't as intimidating as the class sounded. he was always willing to clarify any instructions or notes. hopefully, tony will be able to teach another section in the future.
Excellent at teaching, but his grading is insane. I don't believe an A is something you can obtain with him! I put more effort into his class then my other classes and he gave me the lowest grade out of all of them. If you want an A, find another professor!
Tony is interested in the subject and provides very clear explainations throughout the lab to help with understanding! Keeps the class fun and moving along. Practicals are hard unless you group study! Do well on the abstract and worksheets! Good Professor who cares if students learn.
awesome teacher! very clear... explains everything really well! defintely take him.
A very nice, encouraging professor. I almost switched my major to Biology after his course. Explains things well, is fun loving in class and allows students to really show off their knowledge on exams. Just great!
Very hard teacher..not very helpful, doesn't respond to emails..class ave. is a 67..
I had him for lab and he was fun and easy going. Takes a while to explain things but he is just being thorough. I'd def take him again. Take Boehmler for class**
Makes lab a blast! Not the easiest course....he doesn't curve much at all...but he does challenge you.
talks forever, you will never/rarely leave early
Knowing the basics in this class will not get you very far on the tests. They are very difficult. You need to review the text and various websites to know what type of questions will be on the test. I think there were 2 B's in the class out of 15. The rest were C's or worse.
Definitely not the easiest teacher you will have at York but is willing to help! Makes labs a great time. I really enjoy his lab. If you are willing to put in the effort I highly recommend him.
Professor Botyrius is the reason that I switched my major to biology. He teaches his classes with unbelieveable passion that keeps your attention throughout the class. He isn't easy though. You will have to study because he won't lower his expectations. It's worth it though. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone!
such a nice guy, really helpful and passionate about Biology. He's also really funny in a weird way. He's willing to help anyone and will always explain things further if someone does not understand. Lectures the entire time. Tests are tricky, you have to apply the material to the questions. He takes questions from the book and computerprogram
Botyrius was a great bio professor! I had difficulties following him at first, but if you take notes, attend class, and study you will do fine! He is a little odd, but in a fun way that I found enjoyable! His labs were great too!
Prof botyrius is a great asset to tgr york college bio department. I can say i learned and retained so much in his course. He is very passionate and cares about his students progression. His tests are designed to apply your knowledge to unorthodox scenarious. Awesome professor!
The professor was full of energy. He was entertaining and made class fun. If you participated in class then it was a lot better then if you just sat and did nothing because he would work with you more.
nothing special, not a terrible class but definitely not the best science elective to take ay york
I think he does drugs. Seriously. But other than that hes good. Tests are hard... very hard. You must know concepts and apply them.
I took him to biology I Lab and he was not very helpful. He has the lab assistants help us with everything and he just sits at his desk or leaves the room for long periods of time. He does not give labs back in a timely fashion so good luck knowing what grade you have.
TESTS ARE HARD AS HELL. In lecture, the tests are so hard. The study guide looks really good, but when you take the test, you realize they do not correspond. In lab, he grades so hard. Every detail is crucial. It's ridiculous.
For lab, his grading was tough. Every thing had to be exactly as he wanted. Takes forever to grade the labs. He would just leave in the middle of lab and not come back for awhile. Overall he seemed to be one of the better lab instructors. Get ready for your lab grade to bring your lecture grade down!
Proftonyb is a great teacher and his enthusiasm makes the class enjoyable. If you're not doing too hot he's the first person you should talk to. To do well in his Bio 150 lecture you need to read the textbook and always take notes in class. He LITERALLY gives you test questions in class and on his guides so you need to pay attention. Best bio prof
He is a giant goofball, is not ashamed to wear the same shirt 2 days in a row, and will not fail to make lecture interesting. 'Proftonyb' has a clear grading criteria and assigns little no homework. You do need to somewhat study for tests and quizzes, but if you attend class, you should be fine.
Prof Tony B is a great guy, he's pretty funny, I had him for the Gene/Molecule/Cell course, all the labs are pretty cool. Weekly worksheets after each lab. He talks nonstop in lecture, rarely uses his slides. His study guides do help, but some of the problems don't seem relevant. If you're stuck ASK FOR HELP!! He will help you out don't get behind!
I would love to take this course again. Lectures were always engaging. Botyrius is a cool guy and has a nice speaking voice which makes it easy to pay attention. Loved this class. So easy. Just relearned simple biology. Explanations are great and he is always willing to review things with you.
I had him for lab. He takes off points for simple things but he can explain things well in lab. Relies heavily on his lab assistants so he will leave the lab for 20-30 minutes. He is a pretty cool guy to get along with
I absolutely loved Proftonyb. I took AP Biology in high school, so this was essentially an easy review course. If you don't have some science background it may be hard to follow him because he goes on tangents during lectures. Never failed to laugh because of his quirky attitude. Tests focus more on application of concepts vs the concepts itself
Professor Botyrius is a great professor and really loves what he teaches. He is really clear and super funny. As long as you pay attention and have a basic understanding of the concepts of biology you can get a good grade.
Had him for a 1 night a week Bio class. The time was awful but he was funny and interesting enough that he made the time manageable. He is very knowledgeable and really hilarious with joking. If you show up to class and pay attention, it is easy to pass. He explains everything in great detail and really knows what he is talking about.
Extremely helpful if you're struggling during the semester. Very nice and genuine guy too. He's very passionate about the field of biology.
This professor truly should look for a new profession. He does not know how to teach or interact with his students. When asking for help, he gives vague answers. he's always late, and doesn't really "teach". I switched majors because he turned me off to the idea of biology.
I loved Prof. Botyrius. He is great at explaining things and very easy to connect to. He is so funny. My only complaint is that he is usually a few minutes late for class but overall a solid choice for Biology!
Prof Tony B is hilarious and keeps lecture interesting with his jokes and off-topic tangents. If you do the homework and take notes you'll be prepared for the tests.
Professor Botyrius has really interesting lectures and he explains the material really well. He is a fair grader on exams, and as long as you study and do the homework you should pass the class with no problems.
Hes a very tough grader!! Lecture exams are hard and so are quizzes have to study a lot to pass tests.
Professor B. is a cool guy, but he grades really hard and slowly. He does not give graded papers back when he says that he will. He is really busy and does not usually have time to talk to students and requests an email over an office visit. He does not give feedback on questions that you got wrong, and you would have to email him to find out.
Most awful professor I have ever had. Plays favorites. If you don't write EXACTLY what he wants, he will mark the entire question wrong. Grades the practical extremely hard, and no matter how much you study... prob won't get the grade u want. Taking this lab is dragging down my bio lecture grade, being that the two are averaged together.
Lab quizzes and reports every week. Some lab reports are unclear and confusing. Will take off points if the answer is not exactly what was wanted.
Notes are very hard to take because he just talks the entire class period and the test are hard
I took him for lab. Very good at explaining each lab and is super organized. He will help u if u need it. You need to attend the labs to get a good grade. Worksheets every week but not too hard. Two practicals and they are hard u need to study. Funny and genuine person tho.
He is a great teacher when it comes to explaining the information, but best believe you better have your worksheet open-ended questions exactly how he wants them or points will be knocked off and you'll end up getting a C. I went to tutoring and I even sat down with another lab professor for tutoring and guidance and I still got a 15/25. good luck
mandatory 5+ hours of studying to pass exams. doesn't cut anyone slack if they miss an assignment and he will accuse you of unoriginal work. be careful how you word your assignments as if its not how he wants it, you will get points off. overall nice guy but his lectures are far more intense then his labs. not the best lecture prof
Very picky on lab worksheets. Mark points off if not what he wants. Not accessible out of class. Prof acts rude and aggressive. Avoid him if possible.
Excellent at explaining lab techniques and is genuinely interested in the lab work. Lectures can be detail-heavy, but he always prints out the slides for students to annotate. Allows you to skip some questions on tests.
Goes at a very nice pace compared to the other teachers speeding through the material. Explains content in-depth and accessible outside of class. Very nice guy, you can tell he likes his job.
His labs are always fun and do not take up the full 3 hours. there are pre lab lectures that he puts up but they really are not needed because he goes over the lab before you actually do it. the post lab worksheets are hard and he is very specific about the answers you give. overall he is pretty cool
Please don't take this professor at all. He's very grumpy during labs and lectures; you never get total points on anything, even after tutoring. In class, he writes with a dull marker, which makes us unable to see anything, and he does not care to get new markers, lol. He gives long study guides for exams, but only some are on the test.
he is TERRIBLE. he made my grade go down for no reason when i started off good. i studied so hard and yet i got not even more than half of the percent on an exam. he doesn't know how to teach. and needs to be fired ASAP. he's very inconsistent
He grades like his life depends on it like what??? if u can refrain from taking him PLS DO. he is horrible and doesn't show any mercy.
he doesn't grade correctly ,and when he teaches it's not clear or helpful information
If you expect to pass any exam...don't. unless you eat sleep and breathe bio. He doesn't grade any grade-worthy assignments except 5-point assignments like every other week so your only grades are the exams. his handwriting is capitals and lowercase mixed together so have fun trying to read the board. His lecture slides are just pictures. Avoid him
People heavily dislike Botyrius, however I think his class is definitely worth it. Yes, exams are a big part of your grade but he gives a study guide a few days before the actual exam. He gives 4 exams in the class that each are 20% of your grade, and there are also in/outside of class activities. Study and you'll do good! Use the online textbook!
I am not the biggest fan. He is good at explaining things but he is no help in actually helping his students LEARN. All his notes are "pictures", the tests are way to difficult, and he is such a tough grader. I would definitely stay away. Student tutors were better teachers than he is. EDIT: Please do not take him. at all. Kaltreider is better!!!
I would not take his class. He is super lecture heavy, and gives tons and tons of notes, and I never felt prepared or passed an exam. He teaches at a very fast pace, which makes it super hard to understand. He also writes with a super dull dry erase marker, not making it any better. Every exam I failed, and I got ABOVE the class average.
I had him for lecture (not lab) and it is a lot of lecture and note taking and little assignments. Be prepared to have to study for hours for the exams. He was a nice professor overall, but staying on top of the (few) assignments and review bio notes periodically is very important. Attendance is not mandatory, but do NOT miss a lecture.
Fair teacher, tough grader
Professor Botyrius is a well respected individual amongst the entire bio department. He is a great lab professor but however, the lectures are very boring. There is little to none activity. If you want a good grade in the class, you need to study and you also need to be there.
Great professor and wants you to do well
Does very long lectures but each lecture had a lot of information. Was very helpful in class and also in lab. He can be funny and serious at times but mostly is a very nice professor. He does give a lot of work and is a tough grader but as long as you study you will pass. I really recommend taking his class.
I personally really enjoyed his teaching style. The slides with just pictures made it easier for me to understand because he'd be writing on the board at the same time he was talking so he wasn't blowing through slides making it a lot easier to follow along. I recommend him especially if you're a visual learner.
Talks a lot during lab and doesn't really help you if you make a mistake in the procedure you are doing. The lab practicals are hard, and you really need to study and know absolutely everything you learned over the semester. He is a very tough grader and won't help you if you have questions. He threw papers at me and my lab partner's head.
Professor Botyrius is amazing. His teaching style in lecture and lab is phenomenal, particularly for students who like in depth explanations. He is very clear, not confusing, and thorough. Lecture is a must or you will not pass the course, literally just put in effort, take notes, and study and you will do fine.
He spends most of lab talking your ear off which takes away from lab time. With his lab practicals he will tell you "explain in the best way possible" i did just that and bombed the lab practical.. so he clearly does not tell you what he actually wants for the lab practical. Botyrius has no manners or care in the world.. he will throw papers at you
I enjoyed this hands-on lab and felt the class was well organized. The weekly work and study guides helped a lot. More time to practice lab skills would help. The instructor taught clearly at a good pace, but he should avoid throwing papers and being passive-aggressive, as it affects the class environment.
Don't take lab with him, lecture maybe but definitely not lab. He's lowkey passive aggressive and doesn't answer questions. My lab group was the only reason I didn't drop the class. Not that hard you just have to study for the practicals cause they're a large chunk of your grade.
