This guy is badass! Clearest math teacher I've ever had and we always get out of class way early. I hope he teaches the next level math classes. Tony's the man!
the best calculus teacher at pvcc. he is the only one that explains why you do what you do instead of just showing you how to do it. he is the best teacher that i have had here.
He is the funniest and most helpful teachers. He goes out of his way to help any student that needs help. He gives everything to his teaching. I love him for that. He is a great great great teacher. Plus he is not that bad to look at. ( He is married with kids. You are probably my favorite teacher of all time!!!!!
very nice and funny. he helps everyone to the best of his ability and he doesn't make you feel stupid. make sure you show up and do the work and you're almost guarenteed to pass!
best math teacher ever without question. he explained things much better than any teacher i've ever had in high school or college. he is organized, clear in what he wants, and willing to help. he is very loud and can get pretty angry at times but YOU WILL LEARN THE MATERIAL if you're doing the work.
He doesn't believe in collecting homework - what more could you ask for??!?!
Professor Craig is a helpful math teacher, especially to someone who isn't a "math person". He explains concepts easily and helps relate them to real life. You'll have to deal with alot of arrogant stories about how great he is though. Loves to talk about sports too.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. If you go to class and do the work you will learn something.
Tony Craig opened my eyes to mathematics, for the first time in my life.
Best math teacher hands down. i am not mathmatically inclined but T. Craig taught with such zeal and knowledge that math became vital in my life. Take math with him, but keep up on your homework or you're screwed.
Consistent, clear
great teacher but definitely the hardest I've had. By the end of the semester you will know your stuff. If you are struggling in math because you don't understand the material or if you want a challenge I would take this guy.
Although this is the hardest class I have ever taken. Tony is a good teacher, but he is very arrogant. Brags about his teaching abilities and has unrealistic expectations for his students. If you chose to take this class you will have to work hard and not to mention you will have to deal with his egotistic stories.
I've never seen anyone so much in love with himself. If the time he spends bragging about himself, is spent on teaching and answering questions, it would be a lot more helpful for the students. Seriously, he needs help big time! I pity all those who have to deal with him on a daily basis!
You will be sorry if you take this class. If you aren't an engineer or planning on being one don't take this class! Tony is extemly into himself and has very unrealistic expectations for his students. I whole heartedly advise you to reconsider taking this class.
Awful.... Just the worst experience ever. DO NOT take him... Don't say nobody ever ever warned you.
Aside from being a mediocre teacher he constantly berates people in class. Tony is one of the worst people I have ever met. Also he falsely tells people he is the head and has fired teachers in the department; this is a lie because Nikolov is the head, this means he has no power over other faculty. Also he writes his own reviews on this website.
How could anybody say he is easy going and approachable? He is so arrogant and derisive that people are afraid to ask questions in his class. He tries to make people look like they are idiots. He frequently says he is the smartest guy in the room. Those are his good points.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! I have not personally taken a class taught by Mr. Craig. But, I have sat outside his calc class while waiting for my physics class to open...I have heard him shout, "I have never been in a room with so many stupid people!" Abused as a child were we, Tony? How dare you! If I was his student, I would record and report him!
The worst teacher ever to walk the face of this earth. The worst person one could ever have the luck of talking to. I would rather be bitten by a rabid homeless dog than ever spend another minute in his class.
Tony knows his material. What he does not know is how to treat students. He degrades, and treats his class like little children. Take Tony Craig if you want to be beat down and abused. How he is allowed to run his class this way is beyond comprehension. Good luck if you find yourself trapped in one of his lectures.
WORST TEACHER EVER! So into himself. Did not explain it clearly. If we didn't get it the first time, he said we're dumb and it was pretty logical stuff. Called the class an ass because no one would answer. Would NOT recommend him.
Tony Craig is the best math teacher I've ever had. People who say he's terrible just don't want to put work in. He likes people to be proactive and ask questions, expects you to speak up in class and treats you like an adult. Overall, I could not be happier with the money I paid to take his class.
This guy should not be teaching anywhere. He is a liability to the college with the way he conducts himself and his classroom. Constantly degrades students, like it's some sort of sick obsession he has. Constantly talks about how great he is. It's a problem and it's sick. Arrogant is an understatement. Don't take him. You were warned.
If you want to learn this guy is great, if you want an easy A avoid him like the plaugue. I learned more math in his calculus class than I had in years.
Take his class only if you enjoy getting insulted and degraded in front of the whole class! He is crude, crass, totally without class!!I wonder how he is allowed to to teach with a mouth like that! Don't believe any positive reviews, he is probably posting them himself!
the biggest mistake i made in my school career that i took class with him. i would recomend u not to take his class at all unless u want to play with ur GPA. he doesnt care about your grades or how much you understand. he will shut you up when u ask him questions and he thinks that he is the smartest person on the earth.
Tony was a great professor. I failed his class the first time & took it a second time because he held me accountable unlike every math teacher I've ever had. So many students got upset when he held them accountable for not doing their homework & it clearly showed they didn't. I didn't. lol. It's sad how students with weak constitutions hate him.
Craig is one of the best math teachers I have had. Its simple, if you need to know math for your degree take Craig. If you want an easy math course, don't take him. Bottom line, he will teach you the subject. I am going for an engineering degree and I wish that the ASU professors could teach half as well as he can.
Uses bad language in class Grades unfairly and plays favorites! Instead of helping he confused me even more when I went to his office for help!I have lost interest in math because of him.
Professor Craig is a bully, not a teacher. He uses foul language, teases people and describes students in class as "stupid" for not understanding something. The only decent thing he did was let me withdraw with a W rather than failing his class. (I re-took the class with a different teacher and got an A.)
Tony Craig is a top tier math instructor. I have only three semesters until I graduate from ASU with a Degree in Aerospace engineering, and I can honestly say I use methods I learned from "T Craig" everyday in my classes. People who can't handle Tony should NOT be engineers... period. I prefer to fly in planes designed by people who can pass calc!
If you want to know math take T.Craig. If you don't get the grade you want take the course agen with a different teacher.
I loved Tony's style of teaching. He uses real life situations for a better understanding. He grades hard and can be very demeaning. He would learn a students weak spot and call them out in class (Thank God i wasnt one of them).Very straight forward and blunt. I got a C and he told me i was one of his favorite students. go figure
he is a best math teacher I ever had, he is relay hard but helpful. he is very loud which I liked it. and his class is totally fun. its not boring at all. I had him for precalc and calc 1 and I got As in his class. I suggest you if you are taking precalc or calc take him.
Pros: Great teacher. Explains the "why" behind everything. Cons: hard, extremely blunt, doesn't really give extra credit. Comments: Finished the course with an A but had to work my butt off to get it.
T Craig was absolutely one of my favorite teachers! He explains the "why" behind every math subject he teaches. To be honest, yes he does call students out for reasons which are always obvious to the entire class. if you don't want to work, i suggest you don't take this class. But i learned more in his class than i did in 4 years of math in hs!
Tony has a LOVE of calculus and a burning Passion for teaching it. His work-ethic and willingness reflect in every lectrue. Looking back on it now, i am glad that i took Tony for calculus. One of the best teachers i ever had. :)
Tony was the best math professor that I have ever had. He teaches how you need to learn. Shows a variety of approaches to solving problems. He is very down to earth and by far the best professor in the Math department. If you struggle with Math he'll make sure you understand what you're doing before the class is over.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. But he is easily the hardest teacher I have ever had. If you don't listen and do the homework, you WILL fail. He is very into himself, but the guy is also pretty hilarious and genuinely cares about his students. Good for learning. NOT! for an easy A. Good for an easy F if you aren't careful.
Craig plays favoritism inside the class, and if you're failing or at least getting a C he gets mad about you. And he doesn't teach well to be honest. I took his class and Luckily I got a C. And there are some rumors Craig post some positive ratings.
Some teachers really know and enjoy their material. Others are good at connecting with the students and explaining concepts clearly. Tony is excellent in both areas. He works incredibly hard. The tough exterior weeds out lazy people; under the surface, Tony cares about his students and wants them to do well, if they are willing to put in the work.
T. Craig is an awsome instructor. Although, the material was hard, he had a way of making easy. He was always available with problems on homework and such. I used to think I was bad at math until I took him for 3 math classes. In fact, thinking of taking another class with him (even though my degree doesn't require it).

T. Craig, is a different kind of guy. Always said "You don't learn doing easy problems." Boy, did I learn something from this guy! Great overall teacher, very enthusiastic, will help if you talk to him(won't go to you), and even though he has thick skin about himself, he truly cares for his students and wants them to pass! Off to Calculus II.
I took Tony Craig, otherwise known as "T-Craig" for pre calc. He is absolutely awesome. He's more than willing to help if you're willing to ask for it. He explains math quite logically to the point most can understand it the first time around, though he can be pretty blunt. He makes a hard subject enjoyable to learn. One of my favorite teachers ever
GREAT INSTRUCTOR. FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO GAVE A NEGATIVE RATING..YOU PROBABLY FAILED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK... OR EVEN OPEN THE BOOK. TONY IS A GREAT INSTRUCTOR. GAVE ME THE CONFIDENCE TO BECOME AN ENGINEER! LOVE YOU TCRAIG!
GREAT TEAHER WITH GREAT ATTITUDE
Hands down the best instructor the Paradise Valley Community College Mathematics Division has to offer. If you argue that he didn't help you, or was mean, then you probably never attended class, never did hw and sure as heck never asked him for help. Take T. Craig, whether you get an A or an F, you'll know Calc.
I understood calc from senior year of high school, but Craig's class totally ruined calc for me. He gives notes that are irrelevant to homework, and tells me to "look it up online" when I need help. Do not have Craig unless you don't mind some independent studying.
Craig talks about himself so much. He calls his students "dead- weight". He is a good teacher but he's mean. The class is fast. You have to attend every lecture or you will be lost. You need to do all the WebAssign and book work to pass. You don't get a grade for doing it but it will help you pass the test.
T. Craig made a class that I normally would've hated into one of my best college experiences ever. His awesome sense of humor kept me laughing nonstop, and he's the greatest at explaining math logically and making it sound fun. He's your biggest critic, but your biggest fan too. I wish all teachers shared his enthusiasm. Go T. Craig! Thanks a ton!
If you put in effort, you WILL do GREAT in this class. I took it twice with Craig and the second time, I did increasingly better with each exam. I use his notes to help me with Calc 2 at ASU. Hands down, best professor ever! He uses personal examples to inspire his students to do better. After taking his class, no professor will ever match up.
Best Professor to have ever set foot in the math building of PVCC he knows all of his stuff and is always incredibly enthusiastic and its contagious his teaching style is the best I will always recommend him.
I love math but have only had 2 good math teachers in my life One is Tony Craig. Honestly, ask any question, he will not make you feel dumb for asking Also if you cant take a test, say for personal reasons, talk to him and youll work it out That being said hes no push over, he makes you work for your grade, however you'll definitely learn something
Amazing professor. As long as you do your work and PARTICIPATE in class, you'll do fine. He loves people who call it goes errors and he will sit with you after class until you get it. He is by far the best mathematics teacher and professor I have ever had. ABSOLUTLY recommend.
Amazing class, amazing professor. Took calc once before, but this was at a whole different level. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND, but you will have to work for it. If you show him you are willing and you do work hard, you will get the help and credit you deserve. Go to the board, ask questions, and SPEAK UP. Totally worth it.
he is a horrible teacher
He is not helpful at all. he does not how teacher, and he is so lazy
Best instructor in the entire state of Arizona! Very caring, knowledgable and hard working. He loves the subject and loves those students who care about math and those who are not afraid putting in the time to learn the subject. I wish every professor @ PVCC could be like T. Craig: passionate, straightforward and charming.
Took him for Pre-Calc and Calc. He's not an easy teacher but I showed up to his office twice a week and he was always there and always willing to help. I worked very hard for an A and it was worth it. He is, by far, the best math teacher I've ever had. Be ready to work in his class and I promise it'll be worth it.
The best teacher I've ever had. This guy really knows his stuff and helps you learn and understand calc. His class is very hard; however, if you are willing to work it will benefit you. I highly recommend taking his class.
Work hard. Be honest. Earn his respect. He'll be the best professor you've ever had.
T Craig is the best teacher I have EVER had in my life. You can tell that he really cares about his students learning and prepares everyone as if they are moving on to Calc 2. There aren't many teachers like him. He takes the time to review things other teachers should have taught you but didn't. He makes you think differently, and he is hilarious.
He is the best teacher I've had hands down, he really takes the time to make sure you get it. The only people that I knew that didn't like him were the ones that never did homework so their grade was awful. He is an amazing guy and an even more amazing professor. You have to put in the effort. I would take Calc 2 just for fun if he was teaching it!
i dont recommande at all
could be the best teacher in all of Arizona. changed my life.
Great professor, only teacher to ever teach me math. Took his MAT092, MAT121, and enrolled in MAT187. You have to work and participate, do not be a "warm body" or "slacker". If you do not understand, tell him you do not understand, he will teach you in a way you will understand. Ask questions, show up for class, very approachable, recommend highly.
Honestly hands down the best math teacher I've ever had, he teaches you what is actually useful and important and makes it simple to understand. If you are unable to take blunt honest criticism, you will struggle. But if you don't understand he's more than ready to help you understand it something . Tldr: not the nicest, but an amazing professor.
Calculus isn't for everyone, but T Craig will prove it to you. A lot of people will drop out, but you owe it to yourself to make it to the end. The world needs more teachers like this guy. T Craig is going to challenge you to give your best, but there is no doubt that if you meet that challenge, you will be prepared for Calc 2. Make the effort.
Professor is a flat out amazing teacher. He can be a hard ass but he really cares. He has a sarcastic sense of humor that some people wont like if overly sensitive. I have the worst time taking math, I dont get it. However he makes it easy because he talks like a coach. As a former athlete that worked well for me. He cares about you succeeding. A++
T. Craig is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your future self if you plan on a career dependent on mathematics. He is a caring and generous man, and will always take time to answer each question. He will make you work for this class, as you should, but the feeling of accomplishment is great. I'll be taking him for 220. #boysinthehood
Never in my life have I met a professor so invested in both his teaching and his students. He gives amazing lectures that showcase mathematics in a light so different from what you would expect. This class, for me at least, was very inspirational, and if you should choose to take it, you'll see things you've never seen before. #boysinthehood
I loved taking is class. I would highly recommend him to anyone. he keeps pushing the same idea until everyone gets it. he has a review day before every test which is not common for maths teachers and this is very important for those who have trouble with math. he will show you all the shortcuts. makes students group up and do problems in class.
T. Craig is probably my favorite professor i have ever had. He got right to the point, and will give you the easiest way to complete any problem. He will get on you if you do something stupid, but its for the better for your test grade. Tests aren't easy but he will make sure that you are ready for them. Hw is maybe an hour or 2 a week.
Tony is a great guy, just a heads up for people with test anxiety, learning disabilities or any other sensitive issues. This class might not be for you. He gives a lot of pop quizzes, just know he is there for you when you need help, just ask. He is just very loud and intimidating. I have horrible anxiety issues unfortunately and drop due to that.
If you want clear examples and clear tests, with easy to understand lectures and notes, then this is the class for you. But you will have to do your homework out of the book and the webassign; and show up for class.
An excellent instructor has (a.) the innate the ability to make a difficult subject seem easier and (b.) has a genuine desire to help his/her students succeed. T. Craig woefully deficient in both areas. Unless you enjoy being ridiculed and made to feel stupid for asking questions, spend your valuable time/money elsewhere. Not recommended!
I came to write a review about T. Craig and I saw one person say that he wrote the reviews himself? He doesn't care about being popular. He only cares if you know your stuff. He's teaching a rough subject but he's easily the best math teacher I've had. If you want a good teacher, he's your guy. If you want to be lazy, take someone else.
First thing: DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONAL FROM HIM. He makes math easy and is always willing to help you. He is not all agreeable and friendly at all but he is roughly the best math professor have'd in my life. He has a very strong character. Tests are based on material in class. You should put effort in this. DON'T QUIT BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP.
My favorite professor ever. He is really tough. He won't let you get away with anything and he will call you out in class. He is blunt and direct. But he really knows what he's talking about. He shows you all the ways to do a problem and you can do it anyway that works. I hated math and now 2 semesters with him and I love it.
This is a pretty tough class, but if you remain prepared then you will do fine. Ask question and be active with what is going on in class. Do the homework and always prepare for the test! He is a great teacher and is really passionate about his teaching.
AMAZING teacher. Everyone says he makes you work hard and that is true. What I love about him is that he cares not only for his students but also about if you learned the material or not. I've always took notes in math and got a review and the test was exactly like the test but not here. You will have to study a lot but it's definitely worth it.
T Craig is the best math teacher you will take. If you want to understand what you're doing and why you're doing it, this is the class you want to take. This class teaches you how to think about problems logically. You'll take more than just a grade out of this class if you're honest & put in the effort. **Don't take him if you enjoy being stupid**
I do not recommend this professor if you're taking more than 2 classes, his tests are hard, and does not give partial credit. He gave the class a pop-up FINAL saying that you should come prepared every day.
Taking him for calc was the worst decision of my life, he is the hardest math professor in the math division, his grading system is bad, does not give partial credit, and his tests are really hard. He said we have the final on a certain day and changed the date and did not tell anyone and the whole class had a pop up final ( not joking).
He explains things clearly and logically, and if you're willing to work for it his class is excellent. Plus+ you get to enjoy his story telling. Moral of the story: Don't take this class if you're a chronic whiner!
T-Craig has got to be the best instructor in the state of Arizona. He explains things great and does plenty of example problems in class. His tests a tough, he'll chew you out, but you'll be a better person for taking his class. The dude is just a class act. Do all of your homework and you'll be fine.
Taking calculus with Craig was a decision that I regret the most. At the end of the semester, he said that he will not give a cumulative final and that the last test would be over chapter 5, long story short he changed the date of the test without telling anyone and gave the whole class a pop-up CUMULATIVE FINAL.
I thought Craig was a great professor. He makes the concepts easy to understand and prepares you for the exams. STUDY and you'll do fine. Don't take him if you are a sensitive person--he has a somewhat harsh sense of humor, but I didn't mind and actually found him pretty funny. I would've taken him for Calc 2 if he taught it!
Craig is good teacher. He's very high energy as a person so if your gonna cry about everything he says hes not gonna like you. If you work hard, show him you care, and don't try and be smarter than him (cuz youll fail) hes a good teacher.
I took T. Craig for MAT220. Best choice I could have made. He makes you work for every point, so getting the good grades feels very satisfactory. I wish that he would teach Calc II. One hell of a teacher. If you are prone to getting your feelings hurt, don't take him (but then again, you probably won't succeed in any class).
Made math easy to understand, made me want to engage in class, and made it clear he would help if you need it!
Great professor, highly recommend due to his availability, commitment, and effort that he put into helping his students succeed.
I hated math before I went into this class with this teacher, i loved him so much i took his next class MAT121. He was always helpful, was understanding when i had to go out of town and i explained the situation. If you show up, ask questions, and communicate with him, you will love his class.
T Craig seems mean, hard, and youll either love him or hate him. While i do think he was mean, I took him for pre-calc and calc because I knew that I was learning from a teacher who carried and wanted me to know math. He does get upset when he knows youre not doing your best. Hes dropped bad tests if the whole class didnt do well.
T Craig is one of the coolest teachers ever. He really wants you to succeed. He teaches in a step by step process, and makes sure you understand it before he moves on. The class isn't the easiest, but if you miss a day or anything he'll let you make it up if he knows you're dedicated!
T. Craig. Hands down the greatest math professor in human history. This man is phenomenal at what he does. The course itself is hard, I mean it is CALCULUS but the way he teaches makes everything seem so simple. His tests are a little hard but if you under the concepts, you will do well. He's got that tough love personality but he is the best.
The class is tough but Tony Craig makes the class easy. He does use tough love type of teaching but his methods have definitely changed me as a student and as a person.
T craig was the hardest teacher i have ever taken. Tests were insanely hard they were nearly impossible to even pass better yet get a good grade on. He picked on and yelled at people in class constantly. Gets mad when people dont do well. Super hard on everyone. I was a straight A student until this class. thought i could handle him but i couldnt
He is very passionate about what he teaches and he will let you know that; but the problem with him is that he is sort of aggressive. He made it clear to the whole class, on multiple occasions, who was failing and where they went wrong. For lower level math, he's good. Calculus and up, be warned, because he is like a whip at your back at all times.
T Craig was one of the best teachers I have ever had HANDS DOWN. He is very upfront on what he expects and doesn't let you get away with anything. If you truly do your part, engage, and study you won't have an issue with this class. He is very motivational too, great person!!!
T Craig is amazing. He makes you earn your grade but teaches math in a way where it makes sense. I love his teaching and as long as you do your homework and pay attention and take notes you will be fine. He knows what he is talking about and I definitely recommend taking him for math if you can.
T. Craig is difficult and has a very specific and clear way he would like math done, but also allows for opening up to other ideas. His lectures are long and sometimes can seem like rambles, but he's passionate and means well. He does speak about many people's grades openly but I wouldn't take it personally. I would take him ten times over
I took Mr. Craig for MAT 151 and I do not regret it, he is such a great professor. If you try and work hard he is there to help you. If you skip a class make sure you don't miss a class because if you do you will behind so make sure you get a friend to send you notes and explain what you learned.
I do not recommend this professor he is the worst. If you are a slow learner he is the worst professor to have. He will say your grade to the whole class.
He is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He may seem a little intimidating at first but he's actually a really cool guy. His lectures are easy to understand and he does the math with you to make it easier for you. If you have any questions on what he did, he will take the time to explain it to you. And he will help outside of class.
Overall, not too bad. The only professor who doesn't use MOER.
I really enjoy T. Craig. He is the best math professor I have had and truly ignited my passion for math. T. Craig cares about his students and is focused on teaching at the absolute best he can. I appreciate all he has done for me as a professor and the knowledge I learned from him in calculus 1. I would take him again if he taught higher classes.
Tony Craig is a transparent professor who keeps it real. MATH never lies, and neither does TCraig - he has set me up for a successful life. Listen to him, take efficient notes (even his side notes) I failed every math class until I found TCraig. He will set you up for success. Respect him and do the work and the results will pay off.
If you miss any class time you won't pass at all. Does very little example problems and expects you to figure it out by yourself.
Officially earned an A; however, that was AFTER the final and mid-term was curved. Pleasant surprise! The mini-lessons and homework should be a 100% because you are given unlimited chances. The mid-term and final exams are open book but be prepared. Professor Craig was helpful when I forgot to select a late pass, which he didn't need to do.
the only good thing i could say is he was accepting of late work & curved my final grade bc i didnt finish in time so that was nice. but hes rude and makes fun of people. He makes you feel like you asked a stupid question, but gets upset when people dont ask for help? always says its easy! if you dont get this you should go back to 140
Honestly, time management is a must on the student's part. He gives quite a few late passes you can use on assignments and tests which came in handy throughout the semester. The videos provided were amazing and the notes that came with the lectures definitely prepped me for all the exams and homework.
