Tells you what you which equations you need to know. Must do homework to do well
Explains the concepts very good. Must Do Homework to Survive!! PS: the animal always dies!
He is a cool guy. I learned alot from him, both physics and non-physics related. He is really cool and keeps you laughing. You MUST do the homework to stay alive. The only grades ever in the class are 4 tests. No attendance policy.
Take his physics in the environment class. NO LAB! I think 95 % of the people in my class got an A.
class seems easy but tests are beyond HARD!!!
I learned absolutely nothing from him but the class was taught by an American and he was fun as hell.
Take him for any lab. The man HATES paperwork. Most of the time lab was scaled down in time to a little over 30 minutes. This guy is great for lab classes!
The ulitmate easy physics! I have Environmental and How Things Work (both are about the same class) EASY A! Show up to class for neat tid-bits about life and class long talks... Tests are straight from book and class. Days off for the fair and free points on every test :)
HE is soooooooooo cooolll!!!!
An excellent professor! As long as you DO YOUR HOMEWORK you will be fine. He's funny as hell and you will learn a lot as long as you show up for class. Not a guranteed A but you will get hwat you put into it. Highly Recommended!!
Easy and funny, you really learn why you should know some stuff.
the best teacher i have had @ GSU!! Very easy! No classwork, take home labs, & test are @ most 25 problems (easy as long as you know the basics). No class attendence, but recommend going! he has a great sense of humor! highly recommendend!
Not an easy "A". Make sure you do plenty of homework problems and come to class with plenty of questions. Great teacher.
Only gives you exactly what you need to know. Not much theory so it makes the physics easy to understand. Attend class and do some problems outside of class and there is no reason not to get an A
great teacher and funny
Great teacher. I love his class. I hate physics but I loved his class. He made physics so easy.
He is the best teacher i have ever had at GSU. I highly recommend you take him, he will make everything so clear for you. You will pass if you look over the notes before each test.
I loved his class! Not only was it really easy, but he was extremely entertaining. Lectures are easy and pretty hilarious. Tests are easy as long as you look over the notes, you'll be fine. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he's so funny that you might actually want to go to class.
One of the greatest classes I've had. He's a great guy and the class is hilarious and the lectures entertaining. There is absolutely NO reason why you shouldn't have an A in this class at the end of the semester.
He is a Great teacher and I had a great time in the class. He kept out attention.
Best class ever!! He is so funny and he makes the subject intersting by using visuals and demonstrations very fequently. I loved his class sooo much. I'ts and easy A and I promise you that you won't regret taking it!!
Great Teacher
amazing teacher! made me actually want to go to class! i dont know how he has time to be an emt, firefighter, and physics teacher but he truly is remarkable and i will miss this class.hoping for an A, and i hope he teaches phys. two! Tony is personable and you learn a lot of information the easiest way possible. you dont need crazy equations!
He's hilarious! take this class seriously! great at demonstrating concepts! If you dont understand something, stay after class, he's MORE than willing to help you understand. Tests: if you attend class and just read over the notes prior to the test there is NO REASON not to pass with 95+ seriously if you have the chance take this class. no book!!:)
Very hard teacher. Great personality interesting professor but super hard test. I barly got a c. I no many people that failed and got D's. Would not recomend him
Tony is fun and interesting, but if you don't do the hw then you will fail the tests
Tony is perhaps my favorite professor of all time. He teaches in a manner that is down-to-Earth, yet covers all of the theory necessary to work physics problems. One word of warning, though. His tests are obscenely hard! Make sure you study an example from every type of problem he has taught, and work over 9000 problems before every test!
He spends most of his time goofing off&telling meaningless jokes/getting off topic. He avoids actually TEACHING the class by making his students ask him q's about homework. He gives very little in-class explanation of Physics, instead he expects u2figure it out urself. Ppl get bad grades because he never actually TEACHES the topics.
professor is very interesting, keeps class fun while learning at the same time. very cool individual also. prepares students well for exams and finals
On the surface, this class seems almost like a joke. Class is really fun and Tony is hilarious, but he's not very professor-like. Wanting to go to class is no problem, but you'll really have to work for a good grade. His tests are HARD. Study every problem he does!
I really enjoyed his class, he is funny and makes class enjoyable. However, when I went to him for help he was rude and had no interest in helping me. I would definately suggest him for the "How things work" class but not for Physics 2211 or above.
I am not good in math/physics classes and at the beginning of the semester I thought that he would be able to teach me in a way I could finally understand. He is funny and makes class enjoyable but when I went to him for help he was incredibly rude and did not offer the help that I needed. i would suggest him for "how things work", not physics 2211
he is very funny and entertaining, but he makes it VERY clear that it is your grade. if you don't work problems from the book, you'll fail. if you don't go to class, you will fail. if you don't pay attention to everything he says in class, you will fail. his tests are very difficult. you must study a lot for them.
Tony says at the beginning of the semester that you HAVE to work problems or you will fail. That is absolutely true. I worked problems diligently, went to class everyday, and asked questions. I ended up with a 102 average before the final and made an A in the class, and I did not initially understand anything about physics. Highly recommend.
Class not mandatory but went purely for the entertainment value; that and he gives tests questions out based on class activities - really makes test questions while doing activities to help out the people that do attend. GO TO CLASS - he's hilarious and knows what he's talking about. Easy A if you do what he tells you.
He is a great teacher and very entertaining. He helped make a 3hr 8am bearable. But, if you don't put in the time to study and go to class, expect nothing above 25% on exams. If you are already interested in physics, he teaches the material the easy way and makes you enjoy physics even more.
He'll help you when you need it, and do any problem you want him to on the board in front of the whole class. However, there were 4 tests that you will kill yourself over. They are not too hard, but he grades them really seriously. There is hardly partial credit on his tests, so usually ended up with C's on his test. I got a B and I earned that B.
He is AMAZING! REALLY country, funny, entertaining!! He is the BEST!! Take his How Things Work, REALLY EASY!!!
I love Tony Deal. He taught in a way that was easy to understand and fun. He didn't care that other Physics profs hated his methods, because his methods were a heck of a lot simpler. His tests are usually 4 to 5 problems, but if you practice 50+ examples of each type of problem like me, you will get an A on every exam.
He doesn't care if you come to class. He makes physics simple. No theory. Just math.
Really great prof. We had so much fun in class. No textbook needed. TAKE TAKE TAKE and it counts as a D3 science. Easy class and makes learning fun. Please take.
The only class I looked forward to. Although there is a bit of beating around the bush when it comes to actually learning this guy is real fun to be around. Class usually lasts only 30 min too and the tests take 10 min. His tests are directly from class and his notes so if you go to class and pay attention you'll be fine.
Tony is a good professor. As long as you do most of the problems in each section with the book, you should expect an A. Clear explanations and lectures.
i transferred to GT after taking this guy, and he honestly is the reason i am amazing at statics and dynamics now. he'll tell you everything you need to know. take this guy
He is funny and can make an 8am bearable, BUT he only goes over the problems in class. He doesn't take time to explain why you use certain equations or why you use certain ways to solve the problems. If you do not work problems outside of class, you're screwed. The tests are extremely hard. If you have no basis of physics, I wouldn't take him.
Had him for Physics 1. he's a great teacher really wants you to be successful in his class. super helpful and has a good sense of humor. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! he stresses this because his class revolves around it. thats all you'll do is go over hw problems. Half my class dropped because they didn't study. DO THE HOMEWORK.
Very easy and fun class. Tony is hilarious and does a good job at balancing jokes and learning. When he says you need to study the notes he puts online for the tests, he means it. I didn't study on the first two and made C's. After that I studied and did much better. No attendance policy, and class almost never lasts the whole time.
Tony Deal is the best teacher I have ever had. He is funny and makes concepts in class easy to remember. If I could have him teach me all my other subjects I would. He is someone I will always appreciate and never forget. His class was my favorite class and yes you have to put time and effort into it but in the end you understand the material.
Tony is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes a 3 hour class fly by with his balance of jokes and teaching. I hope he continues to teach, so others can enjoy his class like i did. He isn't just another professor like most, he is a friend to his students and would help them any way he could. Highly recommend him to everyone
He's a good teacher. Very funny and knows his stuff.
Tony is amazing (yes he tells his students to call him Tony) and his lectures are exactly what's on the test. He even gives hints that it will be on the test and has awesome demonstrations frequently. GO TO CLASS! If you don't go, you're just lazy because he never uses the whole class period and you cant get the information anywhere else. He rocks!
This was my favorite class, despite it being an 8 am! Tony is a fantastic professor, always upbeat and friendly, but also teaching physics in a clear and understandable way! You need to work problems to pass; it's essential to actually learning the material. Tests were challenging, but if you've worked lots of problems, they aren't too bad!
Take him if you can, he may be the best professor at Georgia Southern. How many professors have students coming early to their 8 a.m. lectures? He did.
I wont lie,Tony was hilarious,he made an 8:00 am class bearable. His tests were ridiculous and i do not mean that in a good way. You'd think if you were good at calc-1 you would ace his class, think again bruh. We hardly did anything that pertained to calculus. It was a hard class for me. If you have no foundation in physics please do not take him.
RUN!!!!
Take another professor if you can, he assigns the lab grade cos you don't actually do any lab....I made a C in his class so he gave me a C in the lab!!
He is hilarious but he can be a jerk.... A lot of people dropped the class... Hes gonna tell you this at the beginning of the semester... Take someone else if you can.
Do not take!!!! I repeat DO NOT TAKE TONY DEAL...
BEST PROF EVER He really explains everything in a way you can understand and he doesn't make you learn anything you don't need. I was a CLASS major and I understood everything. He's also hilarious and his tests are short and straightforward. Canceled class for football home games. Seriously take his class and don't be stupid.
Simplified difficult material so it was easy to understand and there was only basic math involved. He provided awesome in-class examples for material and invited students to get involved.
great professor and teaching style makes the class more interesting. His in-class problems are worth solving.
Tony is very easy to understand. Physics is a tough subject but, Tony allows you to do multiple problems in class. He works them out with you step by step. There is no reason for someone to not understand. His tests are tough! Pay attention and don't skip.
The key to an A: work out problems from the book. Tony "teaches" a chapter in twenty minutes because he only covers the essentials; the rest of that time is working out problems. If you don't try problems, then he does his best to make the tests hard. Don't drop- he'll reward you if you stick around to the end. Very few labs.I absolutely recommend!
This is more difficult than your typical physics class, but worth the effort. My first grade was a 49, but after going to tutoring, doing homework, and class participation, I made an A. As long as you push hard, you will do fine. Make sure you go to tutoring and do problems! It cannot be stressed enough! Feel very confident for engineering now.
Tony makes college level calculus based physics as easy as it gets. He tries to scare everyone off at first, but stick with it because it gets easier. He is intense and likes to pick on his students, but is approachable if you need something. The class only consists of 5 tests that are each 5 questions. Pay attention in class and practice problems!
Fantastic teacher, makes sure to keep things fun, but whatever you do, turn your phone ringers off in class!!!
Best professor I've ever had at Southern. Go to class, do problems everyday, and go to tutoring. If not, good luck.
Tony Deal is by far one of the best professors I've taken. He wants everyone to do well but doesn't appreciate when people don't try. The key to his class is doing a few practice problems every night and asking him questions about the stuff you do not know. He is a hilarious professor and makes going to long classes bearable and funny.
Favorite Professor I have ever had. Wish I had more classes with him. He is probably the best PHYS professor at GSU. Go to class, practice problems, and show up to his tutoring session he does once a week. He makes a 8am class enjoyable. If you don't practice problems prepare for a D or F
Really good professor. Takes something like calc-based physics and turns it into something easier to understand. Completely problem based; there's no conceptual/theory stuff. You HAVE to work a ton of problems to get a decent grade. He can be mean when you don't get something, but he makes a 3 hour class bearable. He's a fun guy, just work problems
Professor Deal LOVES his job, and he made class so enjoyable and fairly short. Unfortunately besides giving a few test question in class he doesn't do a good job of explaining the material, so if you haven't taken a basics physics class before, I do not recommend taking him. If you take him make sure you go to class and pay attention!
Amazing Professor. He took all the extra stuff you don't need out of the class and makes it easy to understand. All you need to do is show up, ask questions, and do practice problems, and you do need to do a bunch to get a good grade. I got a C, but that's only because I didn't do enough problems. Practice makes perfect.
Tony is the funniest professor I've had. He structures PHYS1135 specifically for students who know nothing about physics and won't have to know it again. He takes all the math and hard stuff out, makes the class about common sense, and makes it fun. You do have to show up and pay attention to pass the tests.
I am not a morning person, but he made the morning lectures more digestible than any afternoon death by power point. He involves everyone, and make you think constructively about every facet of what you need to understand. If had a shortfall in the class it was my own doing because he gives everyone the tools to succeed. It's your job to succeed.
He is a great teacher and hilarious, I would definitely take one of his classes again.
Tony is by far the best Physics professor I have come across. I had to take physics twice so this was my second round, but he was so clear and broke concepts down so that they can be fully understood. PRACTICE outside of class. He doesn't give homework for a grade, but you should do practice problems on your own or you won't pass his tests. GREAT!
Tony is the man! His class is some kind of hard, but if you just practice what he tells you and follow his advice you should be able to do just fine. His tests are tough but he prepares you for them really well. I would highly recommend Tony over the other Phys profs. Worth the 8am for sure.
Tony is a great guy. He makes class fun, and he's very clear about what will and won't be on the test. He's beyond willing to help you outside of class or after class if you don't understand something. I'm terrible at math, but How Things Work was the only class I could take at the time, but the math we did use was easy stuff. He's hilarious too!
Great professor; worth the 8 am. He makes physics as simple as it can be. Only tests and labs are grades. Go to class and practice problems. Funny guy who cares about students.
Do absolutely everything Tony says it will pay off in the end. Always do the problems he tells you to do. Dont underestimate this class but you will be rewarded for the effort you put in. The animal always dies.
Test were not as easy as he believes them to be. He barely gives partial credit on tests. I would work the problems in the book to study for his test but it didnt help. He explains that working problems would be similar to test ones but it wasnt all fact. I wasnt happy with the experience in his physics class.
Tony is a GREAT professor & makes an 8AM class worth it. His 5 total exams are HARD, especially if you don't try outside of class. Free PDF book available for problems. No graded homework. Go to tutoring nights; join a study group, and bust your butt to make that A. *Huge* curve at the end. 1st grade was a 25, and I ended up with an A.
Tony's class is hard, no doubt about it. If you can't handle honesty, or don't want to show up to class then don't take his class. If you can't handle a 5 question test, don't take his class. If you want the simplest version of calculus based physics, then TAKE HIS CLASS. Labs are extremely easy. Tests are exact problems from class. Curve? Oh yeah.
When Tony says work problems, HE IS NOT KIDDING. If you do not work problems, you will not pass. When you do work out problems and ask questions, you better be prepared to answer. He will help you with whatever you need, but he will not do the work for you. I would highly recommend, but if you do not come to class YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL.
Tony is amazing, he makes physics relatable to college students. he makes you enjoy learning, and teaches in a way that doesnt feel like being lectured. if you go to class and take good notes, you should get an A no problem!
I received a B in this class, and I was pretty upset about it. It is an easy A for sure. He doesn't post notes online, so you have to go to class to get the notes. Tests are the only grades, so you have to do well on those to get an A. However, if you come consistently to class and pay attention- there should be no problem passing this class.
This professor is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He breaks down physics to an understandable level and keeps it amusing. You HAVE to ask questions. He teaches his class through the questions asked. reach out for help if you need it . He cares about his students and wants them to learn.
Hands down my favorite professor here. This said, it is not an easy course at all. You have to put in the work, we are in college and he is not going to spoon feed you. Do problems at home, show up and show you care, and you will make an A. He is a very caring professor and wants to see you succeed. Loved him!!!
Tony is as ideal as it gets for Physics. He is a basic man, born and raised on a farm, who breaks physics down into basic parts. He makes it as easy and as lazy as possible to solve any problem. He likes picking on students that ask a lot of questions, but that means he likes you. It tells him you're trying-- he rewards the triers very very well.
Tony is a great professor who cares. He works with the students. Attendance is not mandatory but is considered when curving final grade. TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS.
