At first site, he seems like a priest, but once he breaks the ice, you are in for a joy ride. He is very clear and very funny and will hype you up in a second.

I had him a long time ago and thought he was fantastic: incredibly quick-witted, and sharp as a scalpel with words. Bit of a loose cannon, but that's what makes him a fascinating teacher. Incidentally, so many of my profs afterward came up short by mental comparison!

He expects excellent work which is great. The students rose to the challenge and learned a lot. He covered the religions unbiasly and with great depth. Would take again.

Mr. Howard was a really good professor. He was interesting and entertaining, in an intelligent way. Extremely clear on assignments. Reading every night, and some pop quizzes. He's a stickler for grammar, and grades very hard. If you take any of his classes, you will be further englightened because of it.

This guy is awesome! It is true that you have to read before just about every class but there are not many quizes...just a lot of class discussion. As long as you're not lazy, you'll at least make a B in the class. Its kind of hard to make an A but not impossible. I did it. I recomend Howard.

Professor Howard is really an amazing teacher. He actually made me want to come to class. Although, the readings that are assigned are a MUST! If you simply do the work required you will easily pass. Professor taught me a lot. However, he is very honest about everyone and everything. So i would not reccomend him if you take offence easily.

Professor Howard is a very good teacher! If you keep up with the reading (which is a very reasonable amount) then you will do fine on the quizzes! Papers are not hard to do well on if you are an average writer! He actually made me want to come to class! Is so funny and interesting! I learned a lot about english and life in this class.

Professor Howard is great! Daily reading assignments, which are extremely interesting. Essays are hard, but GO TO THE WRITING CENTER two times before it's due.. sign up early.. and you will do fine! Easy A if you read/HIGHLIGHT and go to the writing center. His personality is the best as well.. never a dull moment with him!

Professor Howard is an articulate, erudite and engaging professor. His classes are always enlightening and enjoyable. He does require reading and will throw people out of class if they show up without their textbooks. He expects quality work from his students, but is willing and capable of assistance. I had Tony Howard way way back in 1988 fresh out of high school. I am back in school now and found his name on here. He's the only professor from my first time around whose name still sticks with me. He is fantastic and will make a large impact on your academic career. Highly recommend.

Prof. Howard was EXCELLENT! I took his Summer course--it was intense but only bc Summer terms are shorter. We had 1-2 papers due each week. If you need a little more time to write papers I would recommend taking him in Fall or Spring. Prof. Howard is funny, engaging, interesting, full of knowledge. I would take his class again!!!

This class was a fun, out-of-the-box experience, but be prepared to be humiliated if you don't participate enough or if you do and give the wrong answer. I was disappointed that I went to class expecting to learn philosophy but only came out being better in English; which is valuable but why not put that effort toward an actual English credit?

This professor is not for the faint-of-heart. His humor and language are quite vulgar at times, so the easily offended should steer clear. Otherwise, it's a hilarious experience. Tony is very good at staying spontaneous. **YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WRITE AT COLLEGE LEVEL TO PASS THIS CLASS**. ENGL 1301, 1302 are strongly encouraged prerequisites.

he's a kooky guy. fun personality but can be offensive if youre not an easy going person. extra credit if u get published in the paper, which i did. its not hard, just do it. overall assignments are pretty easy. u have to get the books & the busy work in the grammar books is annoying

He has a very goofy / fun personality, but not all get his jokes. Gives a tough impression at first, but just try to stick around and if you pay attention to his requirements and advises, you?ll do just fine. I enjoyed his class, and have tremendously improved my writing. If you care to improve your writing skills, I recommend this professor.

I took this course after I carefully studied this website. I was glad I took his course. I wouldn't recommend taking a summer course though bcs you would have to write 4 decent essays within that short period of time. It was extremely hard for me. Unless you are good at writing to begin with, you should take one of his regular semester courses.

Professor Howard is BRILLIANT!!!! I have just completed an express class with him. OMG, he is the BEST professor I have ever had in my life, seriously. I highly recommend him. Tips for success: make sure you read all the assigned reading, because the final is based soley on them. Participate and ask questions when you are not clear. Awsome guy!

Professor Howard's Comparative Religion class was easily the most entertaining class I had all semester. Seems crass and daunting at first, but he means well. Don't fret, stick with it. If you've had Comp II, this'll be fairly straightforward.

Very entertaining... had to withdraw but it was not because of him. He can be a tad bit condescending, but he is overall a nice guy and you will have a gas during his lectures. Great sense of humor.

You will be constantly be laughing in his class. I do not regret taking him whatsoever. His first two essays are easy enough to make 80s on them. I am always telling my friends what hilarious thing he did in class that day. You will learn, but it doesn't feel like that. I was already good at grammar, but now I feel like I have a better grip.

Prof. Howard was a riot in that Engl 1302 class! You could be yourself without it being boring. It was a challenge because you had to be disciplined enough to have done your reading prior to attending class, but the discussions were crazy, in a good way. If you can take the class seriously, you will learn alot about your writing skills.

I'd take his class 100 times over. Comparative Religions was the best class I've ever taken. I learned so much, laughed SO HARD, and my writing skills improved drastically. Whenever I had a scheduling conflict with the class, he did his best to help me out, which I really appreciated. He really knows his stuff, and he is HILARIOUS.

Comedian. Makes it very hard to be bored in class. A wealth of knowledge. Very helpful - very specific about what he wants. Hilarity ensured during class discussions. Plays devil's advocate on ALL issues. A good amount of reading (only an imbecile would be surprised by this from a religion or English course). You won't want to miss his show/class.

YOU MUST TAKE ENGLISH I & II! If you are interested in the world's religions, I highly recommend Mr. Howard. His outlook will get you to WANT to understand the 5 major theologies in the world today. Great Teacher! Super funny and explains subjects well! HOWEVER!!!! HE IS AN EXTREMELY HARD GRADER! He will count off for EVERYTHING. He scans all of your essays like a bloodhound looking for anything to lower your grade! I have ADD so it was hard for me to proof read my papers to his unbelievably high standards. Be prepared for a Challenge or drop.

Not only is he one of the best professors at Collin, he makes learning fun! Attendance and textbooks are mandatory, and no late papers are accepted. It's not an "easy A" class, so do not take it if you're looking for a "blow off class." If you do your work on time, have an open mind and a sense of humor, this class is for you!!

He chooses interesting stories to write about, and will always have you laughing. I got an A and that was my first A ever, not even in Humanities did I get an A. Don't you worry about this class.

The lectures are very interesting and don't feel long at all. Includes some videos and handouts throughout the course. He's primarily an English teacher, so be prepared to have your essays graded by one. He gives ample warning about how to use MLA format, and he's serious about it. Overall he's very passionate about this course and works hard.

Professor Howard has a great sense of humor but this does not mean he fools around when it comes to work. He makes it very clear what is to be expected in essays and he does a marvelous job critiquing them. I've definitely become a better essay writer thanks to this course. If you just need the credits, or you love English, choose this professor.

I took this class for Engl 1302 and loved him so much i took his Phil 1304 class the next semester. He is KNOWLEDGEABLE, FUNNY, and unconventional. He will most likely become your favorite teacher like he did for me. Grades tough but fair, doesnt take anything less than what he asks. you will learn more in this class than just english.

Professor Howard is hilarious! He's a serious person and grader, but it doesn't mean he's not always not funny. When telling his jokes, Tony becomes like a child.... ok he's always like a child. Be prepared for witty jokes and puns, with occasional exorcism-like screams and movements that resemble a tribal dance. He's also really smart.

Extremely funny professor, took 2 classes from him! There were only 2 essays throughout the semester, and many quizzes. Other students say he gives tough grades on quizzes, but if you read the pamphlets he gives you at the beginning of class about his grammar rules and such, and take advantage of the writing center if you need it, you'll get an A.

Took for Comp II and then again for World Religion. Lectures are enjoyable. If you have a class that's active in participation then there will be few quizzes. He doesn't misinform. He was teaching an interesting subject to begin with and he really kinda owned it, the class was pretty awesome and really open, students were giving their own personal experiences, and learning alot. It was a pretty dope class.

He expects you to respond when a question is asked, so do so, or he'll start yelling. Attend class, take your books to every class, and do your assigned homeworks & readings before class, and you'll be golden. Knowing grammar rules & Works Cited rules when writing your papers helps, too. You can make a bad grade quickly if you don't.

Prof Howard was absolutely hilarious. His lectures definitely kept me awake in the mornings. He is tough on grading, but it really challenges you to have good grammar which I enjoyed. Definitely learned a lot in this class about grammar questions I could never figure out before. DON'T come to class without your text book - he will kick you out.

Professor Howard teaches world religions as if you were practicing that religion (you'll "become" a Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, etc.) which is both creative and influential. He has no filter, so many will find this shocking.. He is a tough essay grader, yet if you visit the writing center and let them check your grammar you will be fine.

By far the best class I have taken so far. On the dark side... "Get ready to read". Tips: USE THE WRITING CENTER FOR EVERY ESSAY. DO NOT BE LAZY WITH THIS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN 1302 AND 1301. study the reading before class starts, there will be a 90% chance be a quiz over it.

One of my favorite profs so far! This guy is a hoot. He's a rough grader sometimes but a really good teacher. You WILL learn to write better, and will be entertained on the way, because he is one of the most interesting people I've ever met. About 4 papers and pretty easy labs. Know how to develop a thesis and write in MLA, and be creative!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Lots of reading assigned (highlight to help w/ papers). 2 papers. 10 quizzes throughout course (drops 2 lowest). 1 final exam. Interesting lectures when he teaches. Lectures with videos are a tad boring, but informational & beneficial for understanding material better. He is the funniest professor I have learned from. I recommend!

He is into class discussions about all topics and engages students to go back and forth with him for their own knowledge and capability to openly discuss broad and specific subjects. And he is always looking out for his students. Would highly recommend him to other colleagues.

Prof Howard is a real gem. I took him for short story & novel analysis then again for comparative religion. Found this to be consistent in both semesters: he tends to act more intimidating than he really is. He's not that difficult of a grader he just expects you to not cut corners. Both these classes really made me a think and I learned a lot.

Professor Howard is a solid choice, but be wary that his grading standards are way above anything you'd expect from a community college English class. Outside of Essays, the classwork is relatively minimal, which I did appreciate- the course isn't bloated with repetitive weekly assignments. The one drawback of the course was its tough grading.
