Great teacher, loved what I learned in this class. However this is definitely not a class for ppl who dont like writing. There were 4 papers (minimum of 5 pgs each)and they were not papers you could BS through. Juge will definetly challenge you. Highly recommended.
HE is an Extremely GOOD teacher!! Hes very aprochable, and really cares about his students.HEs funny, and has a sexy French accent..lol His lectures are very interesting and he enjoys when students talk. The material he uses is interesting. He's awsome!! The issues he discusses are interesting and relevant..he's very student oriented. GREAT PROFF!!!!
Great teacher.cares about his students and will go out of his way to help you. ABout 4 videos.Very interesting Material. Four Essays.5pgs each. Hes funny, sexy, and married..too bad ladies hes taken. His lectures are easy to follow. He enjoys hearing students opinion & making jokes about being shy-He's kindah akward at first but u learn to luv it!!
funny guy , not many assignments and when he does assign you have to read and go over notes to understand it very thorough. great atmosphere, best socio teacher in my opinion!
His lectures a great..and interesting, he jokes here and their.essay assign are from an EASY read..STUDY the lecture notes and u'll get an A on his midterm and final..grading is fare...hes real chill and laid back..likes students to participate and knows his stuff..his class is NOT boring as ALL. i luv it!!
Professor Juge is amazing. This class changed my life and I am not a sociology major. He is clear, he uses power point so you can download notes online, he is passionate, he is helpful, he is always in his office hours, and he loves his students. I would suggest this class to anyone.
Doctor Juge inspires me, as well as motivates me. He has positive attitude and very helpful. He has high expectations from his students, which I like because that pushes us as students to do our best. Last but not least he is a person with a good heart. The best professor I have ever had!
Doctor Juge inspires me, as well as motivates me. He has positive attitude and very helpful. He has high expectations from his students, which I like because that pushes us as students to do our best. Last but not least he is a person with a good heart. The best professor I have ever had! O
I may have finally got what he was trying to teach me after his class, but at least I finally got it and I am very grateful for it
Professor Juge is AWESOME! he is the best professor i have ever had, he is very passionate about his profession and he is very helpful. This class changed my life, because of professor Juge i finally found my passion and changed my major to Sociology!Take him, this class was definitely not easy but Juge challenges you to better yourself!Overall GREAT
Wonderful guy. Very nice and funny, easy to talk to. His lectures are powerpoints and he posts them online. Just print them out and take notes on the side. Grades a little hard on the assignments (three 5pg papers and I always got a B). But he gives study guides, so tests are very easy to get an A. French accent, a plus. Hah.
Also took his Soc2 class. Soc14 is a little more interesting with more depth. Still, wonderful teacher. Clear lectures (posted online), easy tests (study guides!). A little hard on the papers (four 5pg papers). Definitely thought-provoking. The first paper will make you truly question and understand your identity (racial, ethnic, gender, etc).
Bec. of Tony I changed my MAJOR!! his class is THE BEST!!! take him. lectures are FUn & interesting. two papers (5-6pgs). His socio 2 class is Even better. His test are not super easy but if u study his LEctures u'll get an "A". take note of the examples he gives u. and TALK to him. go to his office!! =] Best PROFF at PCC!!
Professor Juge has very clear lectures, makes them interesting, passes around an attendance sheet, and is fine with people texting. He gives study guides and opens discussion boards for his tests. They're pretty easy. Weekly readings. They're short, but build up easily. 4 5-pg. essays He grades those a little hard. I got 4 B's. I recommend him.
Extremely good teacher, got a b. Took him spring sem. Try to attend class but not extremely mandatory..this is a lecture teacher so try not to miss out. He is enthralled in the subject and uses a lot of current events to tie to lecture. Hard grader on papers, try to put your best out there for his papers. Tests are a piece of cake on lectures.
He's a good professor but pretty challenging. He makes class funny.. Not that much hw..the tests and assignments are short answers.
Tony explains his lectures by providing examples to make it easy for everyone to understand. His best quote after explaing something is "does this make sense?" If you come to class with the powerpoints, all you have to do is take notes and study for the tests. Make sure to take NOTES when he's lecturing. His class is full of knowledge.
One of the best professors I've had. I had him in Fall 07 and I'm taking another class with him because he was so great. His approach to teaching is extremely effective, but if you're someone who's all about multiple choice, this isn't the class for you. Attendance is crucial, but if the subject interests you, you'll want to go.
It is a very tough class. Most students get c or d in the class. The class is all about memorizing notes which are about 4o pages. Projects are extremely hard. His grading is very unfair. Better not take it.
the most terrible teacher in pcc. he is very mean to students. learning nothing. grading is very unfair. if you want to die, take it.
so challenging. too hard to take it. bad, worse, worst. do not take it unless you are a very smart student.
a horrible professorextremely disorganized, material covered in class was unorganized, If you want to learn something or get an easy A, don't take his class. you have to read a lot and memorize lots of notes
Great professor! Always willing to help, makes the class fun and intersting. I will take his classes again and again. Not only I learned about Sociology, I also learned about myself. Best professor!!!
Juge has a great personality. He's nice, funny and easy to approach. He puts his powerpoints online so u can print them out to take notes. Hes not easy though. He gives study questions for his tests which are short essay questions. There were 3 tests, a paper on a book called Code of the Street and also a group paper. If u work hard youll get an A.
Clear lectures on powerpoint. I took notes during lectures, I studied for the tests and I got an "A". Everytime I went to his office for help he was extremely helpful. I highly recommend Tony to all students.
This is the most horrible class. Do not take it if you want to keep your grade. Lots of homework and very tough tests and projects. Although class is kind of fun, you actually can learn nothing.
The knowledge that Tony has and shares with his students is incredible, I learned so much from him. His lectures are clear and easy to understand if you're willing to study. If you don't take his class you will be missing out!
Actually i could get an A, but he gave me B. So sad for students. I will never take his class.
His lectures are so boring and have nothing to do with what is in the book. Your stuck teaching yourself. He is very unorganized. Do not take this class! The lectures are long and irrelevant to the subject. I found him very difficult because you have to learn everything on your own. He does not explain the subject and requires extra work.
awful!!!!!!
very hard! dont trust the people that says hes easy! his tests are hard half the class dropped out! he told us only 4 people were passing the class by the last week of class! doesnt know how to teach all we do is read articles and listen to lectures which is useless! like one question he taught in his lectures were on the test! DONT TAKE HIM!
Exceptional professor :) The class was so interesting and I did not miss any lectures. Tony is down to earth, nice and very helpful. This is an eye opening class that every student should take. You will learn about yourself as well as the society you live in. I highly recommend it.
PCC needs more professors like Tony who care about their students. Lectures are clear. Tony welcomes students to ask questions and always ready to help. Just remember we are in college not in pre-k. Highly recommended.
Yes, he's disorganized, but it will go a lot smoother if you speak up and answer his questions. Reading assignments were better than the lectures- gave different perspectives. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
I enjoyed the subject prior to class. He is offensive, liberal, and disorganized. he can not keep his lecture on topic, and if someone asks a question he goes on a two hour rant on how no one is involved and fulfilling there social obligations.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. If you do you will regret it beyond belief. He is the most unorganized professor on campus. He lectures for 3 hours straight and doesn't give breaks. His tests are extremely hard. He also likes to single people out and make you feel stupid.Just don't take him, plain and simple.
I think he's very nice as a person, but not smart or educated enough to teach. His class is quite easy, there's no surprise quizzes of tests. He's very defensive when it comes to welfare and racial issues. He always encourage students to debate if we disagree but his grading is based highly on his own opinion which I think is not fair.
I took professor Juge's class last fall. He is young, good looking, smart, and he finished his PHD while teaching at PCC. I found his powerpoint lectures very helpful, even more helpful when I started taking notes during lectures. His kind towards his students and always ready to help. I will take his class again.
I TOOK HIS CLASS LAST SPRING. I DO NOT THINK HE IS NICE. I STUDY HARD BUT ONLY GET C. IF YOU WANT TO GET A IN SOCIOLOGY, YOU BETTER TRY OTHER PROFESSORS. GOOD LUCK.
Honestly, this class is not a cakewalk. You have to put in the time and effort and actually try. You learn alot and his teaching method is very good. Tests are challenging but not impossible. Do the work and expect a good grade. He is also open to debate and sensitive issues. He is a good professor who expects the best from his students.
IF YOU EXPECT TO GET A IN THIS CLASS, YOU MUST BE GENIUS. TOO MUCH READINGS, TOO TOUGH PROJECTS, AND TOO DIFFICULT TESTS. I WILL NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ANY MORE.
If you're lazy take someone elses class... If your serious student and want the best take Tonys class and stop complaning. I took and and will take it again.
so-so
The class is so hard and challenging.
Dr. Juge was good about talking about real issues that matter. This class is not easy, but I was able to get an A. Be prepared to type 3 5-page papers. The exams are the easiest part of the class. You have to answer 10 of the 12 short answer questions. I would recommend this class to those what really want to think and r willing to put in the work.
i drop this course because it is too tough.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. OTHERWISE, YOU WILL REGRET.
I TOOK HIS CLASS LAST SUMMER. I DO NOT THINK HE IS NICE. I STUDY HARD BUT ONLY GET D. IF YOU WANT TO GET A IN SOCIOLOGY, YOU BETTER TRY OTHER PROFESSORS.
I will not take his class any more.
THE WORST PROFESSOR IN PCC. VERY MEAN. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS AT ALL.
ok i dont know why ppl are taking soo much crap about tony. Hes class is NOT Bad at all!! u learn ALOOT! If ur narrow minded and do not like to study and do ur work, then dont take him. If ur willing to read & pay attention in class then hes the guy for u!! Extrmely Interesting courses!! GREAT lectures. Very nice & funny. The tst are not unreasoble
For all those that say hes class is HARD!!I've attended skool at the University Level and let me tell u his class in NOTHING in comparison. Ppl just need to realize that you need to STUDY!! I know we hate to do it. but HAVE to!! hes test are reasonable and hes pretty chill and funny. If u want 2 transferr 2 the UC system.Start NOW & learn to STUDY!
Has great lectures and allows his students to explore and grow in their critical thinking skills.
I am taking his socio1 this semester. It is so hard. The tests are all short questions. I study hard but i only got D in the test. I feel so sad. i may drop this class.
This is not an easy teacher. Although I read his notes and book, i got poor grade in my test. I will drop this class and retake it from other teacher. If you are not a very smart student, DO NOT take this class.
I thought socio1 is an easy class so i take it for my GE requirements. But now i can say that this teacher is too tough. I only got C in this class.
This is very tough professor. I think he is kind of mean. I got D in his class even though i tried my best. If you want to get A, I suggest you to take other professors.
This is not a good professor. He is very strict and mean. I should got B in this class, but he just gave me D. I felt so angry. He doesn't care about students.
He is the worst teacher in PCC. He does not care about students. His tests are so hard and most students can only get C or D in his class.
I will not take his class again because he is so mean and gives students very low grades.
This was an eye opening class. Tony says it like it is. He is very helpful especially if you show him that you're trying and want to do well. His lectures are clear, make sure to take notes and attend class at all times. You have to study to get an "A" like in any other class. Highly recommended professor :)
He is not funny at all. His class is very hard.
I only got D in his first test. And my several classmates failed the test. It is really hard to get good grades even though i study very hard. Probably, i will drop this class.
This class has several projects and tests which are kind of hard. The teacher is not a very nice person.
I like his lectures but his tests are so hard for me and most of my classmates. There are so many notes to memorize. Tests are all short questions but each of questions seems to be a essay question. I didn't even have enough time to finish my first test. I felt so sad now.
I take this class for my IGETC. I thought this class should be easy because the professor is nice. But i was totally wrong. The class is so hard and the teacher does not care about students. I only got C in this class. I will never take his class again.
Tony is a great teacher. I enjoyed his class very much, and he makes the class extremely interesting. Two thumbs up!
This is so hard class. The teacher is not good.
It is not an easy class. The tests are very tough.
This is very strict teacher. The tests are very hard. There are a lot of notes to memorize.
The professor is kind of funny, but this is not an easy class. The tests and projects are difficult for me. My grade in this class in C,which is low grade.
In this class, you have to read and memorize lots of notes. The tests consist of short questions which are very hard. Each question looks like an essay question. A challenging class.
he's a good teacher, I learned a lot from this class, very organized. Everything you need to know is in the syllabus and his website.
GREAT lectures..keeps u awake..funny. Take GOOD notes..even of things that are NOT on the powerpoint..most of the ppl that do poorly in his class DONT take notes..and relly on his powerpoints..NOT a good idea..print out lectures and STUDY STUDY! make flashcards or sumthng..interesting subject..Test-shortanswers..but challenging. books are great! =)
professor Juge was very bad and boring. all his lectures are from slides. his test are not multiple choice and he hands out study guides 2 days before the test. his grading system is very unclear and he is a very hard grader in your essays. he has very high expectations from his students.
Juge quite possibly may be the worst professor teaching at PCC. Your grade depends on whether or not he agrees with your beliefs and, because every assignment is written, his grading system is purely subjective. He is both arrogant and ignorant and definately should not be teaching.
Seriously, if you do not like Dr. Juge, you are not going ANYWHERE IN LIFE!!! The guy is extremely FUNNY,HAS THE KNOLEDGE ALL IN HIS BRAIN, HELPFUL, AND LECTURES ARE HILLLLLARRRRIOUS!!! i never read, never took notes, i just came to class, participated and received a high B!!! if you cant pass his class, just dropout! College is about effort losers
TERRIBLE teacher when it comes to being a fair teacher. He is knowledgable in Sociology but when it comes to grading and fairness, it is up to his personal feelings. I went to class everytime, always did class participation, did work. Still failed. Gave preference to female students.
Tests are hard. you must answer 10 out of 12questions. dont know 1, then you're screwed. kuz its 10pts each.he gives u 60+questions to study on. Not an easy A class. i was able to pull off this class with a low B, because i got a good group members that did their best on the project. Don't take the class if u want to pass it with an easy A.
Whoever says juge is a bad teacher is out of their mind!! He is a brilliant man with passion for what he teaches. Communicating with the teacher outside of class through e-mail and definitely participating a lot in class helps. Winter- 2 essays, 4 tests and a bunch of videos about racism and hip hop. Take him if you want to learn and have fun.
This professor is hard, yet prepared me for my classes at the UC level. MC's are for high school...essays are for college. Those that complain that they cannot do well, are clearly not studying enough, or do not know how to study...this professor is brilliant! Those who take him will be working hard for the grade you want..
He is very fair in his grading. He prefers having a talkative class discussion over a silent teaching lesson. Just study his slides, take notes, and remember his key points in lecture (they all overlap) and you should be fine. He's funny and you gotta love the "sexy French accent."
Juge is my fave professor at pcc thus far.I learned so much about ethic sociology. I came in without knowing what the heck this was gonna be about, but I left with great interest in this topic and soc in general.
It's funny to see that some of you are rating him down cause he doesn't do multiple choice or his lectures are hard to understand. I got an A in the class and I have to say it did not come to me without effort. His class is HARD and takes lots of reading and understanding. If you can't handle essay tests, good luck when you transfer.
Extremely hard tests, 10 questions, must answer in half a page of writing for each. So you have to write 5 pages in an hour and a half. Only 3 tests and 2 papers so if you screw up one test, which is likely because its extremely hard there's not much chance to make it up. I have a background with psychology and many of the concepts are the same ye
Dr. Juge is the best Sociology professor in PCC aside from Dr. Price! Gives you a stress free class that engages you and makes you want more. Only 3 exams, and two written assignments. Pay attention and study his slides and you can do great. Totally reccomended! AND YOU GOTTA LOVE THE ACCENT!
Dr. Juge is probably the only professor I have ever had that never put me to sleep; his lectures were fun and interesting. Workload isn't much, as long as you don't procrastinate, and his exams were straight forward, nothing out of the blue. Definitely recommend him! P.S. I bought the book for $3, and never used it.
I took sociology 16 which is urban sociology. I don't think his grading system for the class was fair because it was only based on essays and participation. Also I feel like I know more about one stupid block than actual urban sociology. I would never take a class with this professor again.
Well I just finished his class and I can truly say It was dreadful! The lectures were boring, repetative and long. He graded too tough on the essays and am glad to get out of that class!
Okay, I think most of the bad comments here stem out of bitterness with his grading which is admittedly pretty tough. Tony's the nicest guy ever and couldn't make the subject more interesting than he does. I learned so much from Ethnic Studies. If you think he's strict or mean you must be sensitive or fool around too much.
grades are based on 5 papers and participation...i got four B's and one A on the papers, but C at the end because i --don't participate in class-- even though i had perfect attendance..fair grading?you judge...
Professor Juge is one of the most interesting and passionate professors that I have had by far. His expectations are very high and will never drop from there but he is more than willing to help you out if you ask for his help. He is very blunt and brutally honest about society as a whole, but really? Would you prefer someone who sugarcoats the trut
such a great professor. opens your eyes to things that were always there. regardless of a grade, the information you can get from him is worth way more than the 26 dollars per unit. take his classes you will enjoy it if you work hard you will do great. if your looking for an easy A go to another school.
the best teacher ever in my life! I am an international student from one of asian countries, so the things that the class dealt with were relatively difficult for me but still, his lecture totally "inculcated", the favorite term of his,me! I didn't get an A on the class, but it's because I didn't study enough. I strongly recommend you take it :)
Passionate, loves what he teaches. Invites you in and makes you care. A lot of papers to write, but worth the work
Dr. Juge is one of the best professors that PCC has to offer. His classes are always informative, useful and interactive. If you need any Sociology classes, he is the best professor to have.
hes a fun teacher to say the least. id take him again in a heart beat. the essays are do-able and the 2 test are easy! most of class is discussion which i love so speak up! recommended highly!
I took this course a couple years ago, but must I say that after so long I still remember the things I learned from this class. It goes to show the effectiveness of DR. Juge's teaching for such an eye-opening class. Having him give us first hand experience as a French-born man, the sociological theories and stories are much more meaningful! Great
He was very helpfully and interesting. You will not be disappointed if you participate and do the writing.
I learned so much from this class. I really enjoyed the material, but some people in the class thought it was dry. It just depends on your interests. This was a tough class for being a 3 unit class, but he gives you the means to get and A. I mean... he gives you a study guide with the test questions on it. Overall, I really like him and his class.
Professor. Juge is awesome and I'm not just saying that because I got an A in his course. He relates to what you are speaking about in class so that you can get more comfortable in expressing your opinions -- smart social calculation.
his lectures are often very vague and repetitive...there are tons of essays you will have write for his class, and i am not too familiar with his grading system.. but usually it is hard to attain a high score
awesome. awesome. awesome. and a french accent to boot! you will work hard, but its well worth it (an A is def. possible). he is clear with what he wants, so just do it. very interesting, took 2 of his classes.
Don't take this professor. I took him for sociology 16, and the is so dry. The readings were boring, his grading system is absolutely stupid. He expects people that take this GE class to be expert sociologists. Not to offend anyone, but anyone majoring in sociology = fail.
prof juge is great. he is sooo laid back but when he wants work to be done he wants it done. his lectures are super boring but they are funny sometimes and discussions get heated sometimes so thats always fun. his essays are hard to write but once you start writing they will be easy and get an essay B or A. Do the extra credit! Helps a lot!
Professor Juge is pretty cool and laid back. But he gives a LOT of reading and essays which require you to observe outside of class. If you don't have a job, take this class otherwise, you'll have to bs your essays.
Juge is a good professor, but his class was pretty hard. It's easy in the first half of the semester but there are a lot of long essays in the second and you can't slack at all. Everything he taught in class had to do with the final but everything he teaches is super vague, so the final was pretty tough. No tests but the final.
funny, rarely bores, knows his stuff. answers EVERY question &comment. study guides given for every test. tests are 10 short responses. suggestion: print powerpt text and take notes alongside- this will be helpful when understanding your studying. book is hardly used. tough grader on essay. basically loved, french babe and it's often distracting.
He is a great professor. Very passionate about sociology. He lives what he teaches. He is easy as long as you do what he asks. He only assigns two to four papers with very few exams. As long as you do the reading and study it's an easy B or A. He answers all questions and loves feedback from students . Take him !!! He will make you love sociology too!!
grades really hard, tests based on lectures-no textbook, yeh he is sexy but not worth taking because he grades so hard. and i have a good gpa. i am not dumb.
He was great. I loved the books he used. All his lectures were organized and he used power point. Great sense of humor and over all outlook. Highly recommend him!
Good teacher, hard grader.
Loved his class! Love how he teaches. Heard rumors he was a tough grader but he grades fairly. If you do everything and stay on top of the readings/essays there is no reason you can't get a A or B. He is so passionate about it, he makes you interested and you learn easier. Great teacher! Take him.
Amazing!!! take him!!!
I've never had a hot professor prior. I have no interest in Sociology aside from him, (jobs are competitive). He takes the time to explicate wherein vagueness may lie, he is prompt in responding via email. He fully prepares his students, foretells us of the potentially difficulty we may encounter w/the work. AWESOME ALL AROUND! MORESO HOT[NESS]!!!
I honestly think the people who are giving Tony bad marks took their bad grades or differing views too personally. He's the nicest guy in the world. And yeah he's a challenging grader (remember, it's college) but he's always fair and will give you a good grade if you give a legitimate effort. If you don't get involved he's not going to cruise you.
An AMAZING professor. I would say one of the best and most helpful teachers on campus. You do need to read and take good notes. His test as short answers and you better understand the matterial. Ask questions he loves what he does and loves answering questions. read read and study and youll be fine!
He teaches a very discussion oriented Ethnic Studies course. The topics covered will be controversial, but will help you better understand the context of race relations in the United States. He is a fair grader, some would say easy.
I don't know why people are saying that his class is hard-- because I am getting an A with flying colors (this is not because I am "smart," but because I am putting in just enough effort). He is a very fair grader (quite a bit easy actually) and his class is very interesting and engaging. I look forward to taking him again. Definitely recommend.
He is very easy going and clear with his lectures. He encourages students to participate in discussions and enjoys hearing what we have to say. His assignments aren't too difficult. I highly recommend him! YOU WILL LEARN A LOT! This class is probably the most important class you will ever take in your life
Dr. Juge is a fantastic teacher. He is surprisingly easy grader for papers and such, and his tests are pretty straightforward and easy (or I thought so). I came into the class not caring much of ethnic studies, but he really got me thinking more about it. Probably my favorite teacher, even though I don't talk much hahah.
Direct, very clear on what he is looking for 3 exams, 1 group essay, 1 individual essay. Pay attention in class and you should be okay.
Not an easy A, but easy B. I didnt pass his first test but passed the class with a B. Review EVERYTHING on study guides because tests are short answers. 3 tests 2 essays, one individual and a group one. Not diffiult if you put in the effort.
Tony is amazing! There are 3, 10 question short answer exams, An individual paper on a book he assigns, And a group research paper. Print out slides, take notes beside them (write down the examples he gives too they will help SO much), and when you get the study guide, DO IT and memorize it. I'm no A student, I got A's on everything. Love Tony!
very interesting class, you will learn a lot about social problems. 4 essays and 2 exams, very clear the format of the class. be prepare to critically think because your papers are base on this.not an Easy A but is possible.
Took his class winter term and it was good. His format of assignments and tests hasn't changed. The slides are helpful so you don't need to take a ton of notes. He encourages questions, is INCREDIBLY patient, creates a great class for dialogue, and is a fair grader. If you listen, have your own viewpoint, and do the homework, it's an easy B.
He's a nice guy and fair grader but he's pretty boring. It's easy to get an A as long as you read. Don't take this class if you hate group projects though.
Hmm, what to say. This is college. Classes are harder than high school. You have to actually read. But if you do the reading, and really tap into your sociological imagination, you'll do just fine. And he gives study guides of what's going to be on the test, so there is no reason to fail at all really. Class is interesting if people participate.
Tony is extremely patient when it comes to answering questions. 3 exams with 10 questions ezch which comes from the exam guides so there is no way in failing the class. He favors in the examples he illustrates in the class so don't use too much from the textbook. Don't take his class if you hate group work though.
Going into this class, I went with the sole intention of gaining a couple more units, I really knew nothing about sociology. He made the class extremely interesting! I learned so much about people and learned how to think with a sociological imagination. He really is an amazing teacher, I am now a sociology major! Do your work and pay attention !
he will give us a lot of homework and they are not easy. exam is hard, although he will give you the study guides, it's hard.
I like his personality but I dont like how he grade us. He gives us too much HW and he grade us really low. I heard majority of people got low B or C and some people get D or F on their paper. He do not curve.
Professor Juge is extremely helpful. He responds to ALL inquiries you have, even if it is transfer questions. He'll talk after class with anyone who needs help. The grading can be hard but he gives extra credit assignments to help make up for missed points. It's up to how much you put into the class. Changed my major to sociology because of him.
He is a very good lecturer and is extremely knowledgeable. He is a tough grader but if your writing skills are good, papers shouldn't be a problem. 5 essays and 2 exams. Interesting class.
Professor Tony ia amazing. I have never had interest in learning about sociology. I just took his class as part of my pre-requisist but because of him, I really love sociology today. He is very knowledgable, funny, and helps a lot answering questions and e-mails. His class is not that hard, just need to pay attention and study.
A lot of people thought this class was hard but Dr Juge gives you what you need to succeed; up until the final paper, which is a group project and therefore very challenging. *Answer the questions from study guide and memorize, you'll get A's on the tests. *Read your book and consult slides from power point. *For book report- start early!!
Professor Juge is an excellent teacher! I loved attending his class, he´s funny and i love that he's one of the teachers that doesn´t read from the book. He is EXTREMELY knowledgable. The class may not be so easy but you learn so much. Totally worth it, TAKE HIM!!
He'll challenge your ideas, and he'll make you work hard for an A. There are 4(5page essays), 1(3page essay), and 2 exams. Just thinking about it irritates. But again, I love attending his class. You learn and grow, and you pay the price by working hard. Thankfully, my major in not sociology, but if it was, I’d have definitely taken him again.
Great professor! Opens up your eyes to a world that you had no idea existed. 5 papers to write, 2 written exams, and he gives extra credit. If you like to learn about diverse material, you must take this class.
This class and Tony have changed my life! You MUST take this class. I was a fashion major, but now I'm a sociology major! He is seriously one of the best professors I have ever encountered. Got an A in the class, but I worked really hard. Gives you everything you need to succeed, it's up to you to put the effort. I love him!
He is amazing, love his french accent. Very helpful not a tough grader, just do the work, you'll be fine. Got a B.
I did receive an A in this class, so it's not impossible. I read and did all my work in a timely matter and participated a lot in class. When I had trouble understanding something I visited his office hours. This class is very eye-opening.
Tony is a great teacher and makes lectures entertaining. This class allowed me to better understand American policies.
What to say about this man. He taught me a lot. If you really try and think like a sociologist, you will do well. I recommend participating and making use of his office hours. There are probably easier classes out there, but this wasnt too bad. What girl doesnt want to hear a french accent for two hours anyways?
He's a great teacher! I absolutely loved his class. I got an A, a lot of people ended up dropping the class but I think if you put in the effort you can get an A he is very fair
he is a great teacher but the test are very hard
Juge is an amazing professor who is very dedicated and VERY knowledgeable! I'm secretly obsessed with his French accent... The tests are written exams and are primarily based on the powerpoint slides and study guides. I definitely recommend taking his class!! Juge is very humorous as well which makes the class that much better!
This professor is awesome! He gets you to understand society in a different way and with reasons that are veiled in America. His assignments are mainly papers, and it might seem overwhelming, but they are very interesting and fun to do. I enjoyed this course very much. Definitely this professor, you will not regret.
Tony is very passionate about his field and he can easily make you fall in love with sociology too. Without a doubt, you will leave his class forever seeing the world around you in a whole new perspective. His class isn't hard, as long as you stay focused. He's attractive, very nice and educated.
Funny & great instructor, but he grades so horribly bad. Its almost impossible getting an A. Don't take his class.
He's really a very good teacher and one of the best . if you do all the work, witch he rarely assigns but when he does its a lot and worth a lot of points, then you'll be fine. read the ook he assigns you and use ex students as study guides.
Tony is cool guy, much respect. I found his class very interesting.
Great class, excellent professor. Have your own ideas, speak up in class, engage with the material and be honest - it's a class for people who aren't afraid to have their own ideas and voice them. Eye opening course that will change the way you see the world, and it may sting a little. Not the class for slackers, great for scholars - recommended!
Professor Juge is amazing, he opens your eyes to new life changing ideas. I learned so much in his class, I'm taking him again this semester. Take him! Engage in class discussions and don't wait till the last minute to write your papers. His tests are NOT hard, they actually require you to use your brain. He is a fair grader, you get what you give.
Beyond AMAZING!!! He uncovers the veil and makes you see reality. You learn a lot about life and gain priceless information. Must study for exam, there are 9 questions & you must write short paragraphs for each. Lectures are very interactive and interesting. MUST TAKE!!! Best Professor I've ever encountered. Don't be lazy and skip class. I got A+
Great teacher, he loves what he does. He is very understanding when it comes to problems your having. The only down part is the class went by very quick. I personally don't like sociology but the professor itself is a great instructor.
Professor Juge is the best. I loved his class, because of his passion and just the content was very interesting!I am now a Sociology major because I loved this class that much. You have to do ALL the assignments bc there is a few, but they are all worth 100 points. Only 2 opportunities for extra credit, so do it. Recommend without a doubt.
He is a great professor helped me understand what sociology really is about. He really projects the passion he has for sociology and its contagious!
Take his class. He's brillant. He connects to students& is willing to push our social boundaries.I'm not a socio major, I've debated on taking more of his classes just to become better informed. Hw,essays& test are fair.Only downfall is that many ppl didn't want to speak up & we'd have the same folks sharing there opinion.
Great professor. Is passionate about the topics he lectures about and about sociology in general. Always left class wanting to learn more. He makes the class interesting for just about everybody. One of the best professors in PCC.
Great class! Do the reading and attend lectures, you'll do just fine. Clear examples and super enthusiastic professor. Really loves what he's teaching. Would recommend to all my friendspeers.
super hard class! impossible A. get ready to read a bunch of readings. 5 papers and 2 exams. no midterm or finals but he grades papers really hard. exam was easy if you really listen and take notes during his lectures. if you have a difficulty in writing papers, then don't take this class! this class is an inspiring class; but it is hard.
Tony is a professor who is truly passionate about what he teaches which makes the class very engaging. We had three tests this semester and although it seemed intimidating to study everything he covered, the tests were essentially everything on the study guide which he provided. Just turn in your papers and use the study guides and you'll do great.
His standard is very high because he makes you do alot of work. You have to do three papers and take four exams. His exams are not Multiple choice because you have to answer in long complete sentence like an essay. He'll make you learn and think more and alot because you have to earn your grade to pass eventhough Sociology is not that hard.
he was very helpful. down to earth. willing to help in any situation.
Great man and professor, very understanding to situations with very good feedback and the most interesting lectures, more like class discussions. Participation is not necessary but you'll want to participate.
Tony is the type of professor where you feel comfortable going up to and ask questions. He will always answer your questions during and after class with details and patience until you understand it. Tony's test are easy BUT only if you follow his study guides he provides. His lecture relates to real life events making it easier to remember for you.
Dr. Juge is amazing! He is so interesting and inspires a different view. This class is hard; you must do a big paper and a huge group paper as well as all-essay-question exams and final. You must read a lot and comprehend the different theories, etc. To do well, you MUST do the work. If you do the work, you will learn a lot and enjoy. He is helpful
Tony is probably one of the best professors I've had at PCC; he is always clear and concise with his lectures and really makes you think about the issues at hand. I've never had to utilize his office hours but he always responded to emails promptly. The class isn't particularly hard but he assigns a lot of reading. All tests are short answers.
This is by far one of the best classes I have taken if not the best. He is passionate about the subject and you see it in his lectures. He makes it very easy and comfortable to participate in class as well as being very clear with what he wants you to do in order to pass. I am definitely taking his Soc2 class next semester. Definitely recommend him
He is not like what's described, he can be quite mean at times, he will put u on the spot, and he has an accent which i couldn't understand sometimes. Although I received a B, i felt like he wasn't the best teacher
He's a pretty chill professor. I learned so much in his class. He makes the class interactive and creates a comfortable environment for anyone to express hisher input. His grading criteria is still unclear to me. But it's a class definitely worth taking.
+ Nice guy, interesting topics. +Engaging class discussions. - Linear work; write about what he asks, not necessarily what you feel is important to discuss (kind of boring) -If you dare think that poverty is caused by lack of responsibility and poor decisions more than societal factors, than you've failed to use your sociological imagination
Hardest grader I've ever had. Tests are't multiple choice and answers must be EXTREMLEY detailed and specific or you won't get a good grade. There is so much reading and papers on two different books (and other papers too), if your paper lacks details he wants, you wont pass. No matter how hard I tried in this class, never seemed to be good enough.
Tony is my favorite Professor by far!!! Every class is a lecture and taking notes but its not bad at all!!! He relates the material to things you can relate to. He is super funny as well. YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE TAKING SOCIO1. 3 exams, answering 9 questions in 1 paragraph (easy if you study the studyguide), 4 papers, 3 pages each.
Amazing professor ! i always wanted to go to class because it was interesting and the material he taught always connected to our everyday life. Although his test aren't multiple choice the test aren't hard because he gives you all the guide lines and explains clearly . I highly recommend this class if your willing to engage in the material.
NOT A TOUGH GRADER easy class highly recommend if you put a small amount of effort you will get an A
Doesn't give homework but be prepared to write long papers and be aware that he reads them so you can't make it up as you go. Only 2 tests but they are all written responses and expects you to fully explain in detail
Professor Tony is a very down to earth professor and he is very up to date with today's generations trends and he has a clear understanding of his students, because he doesn't judge his students, instead he takes the time to understand them and that ultimately earned my respect. Professor Tony expects you to do your part. Hold yourself accountable.
He is a somewhat strict grader, but other than he's a really chill and nice professor with a sense of humor. The lectures are long, but some of them were really inspiring and how he adds on his own experiences to the issues presented is cool. Not many tests and homework (2 exams, 3 paper assignments). I wish he curved the papers and tests though :(
Amazing teacher. Beware because he doesn't sugercoat anything.
I liked this guy initially, he is a nice person after all... then I realized I was "learning" things like: all women and minorities are victims of society, "white privilege" puts everyone else at a disadvantage, we need more social welfare programs (i.e. more taxes), etc. Essentially you'll be indoctrinated by liberal rhetoric when you take him.
He's a really a hard grader because there's only 3 exams and 4 papers but the class was really interesting and he is kind of funny and cool.
He is a very knowledgeable professor, very intelligent and organized. His lectures are Amazing. He is very clear. You will never see the world the way you used too. The only thing is that you gotta work hard for an A, be very detailed, analytical and specific in your answers.
Not an easy A, if you skip class, you'll miss a lot of information. He grades really hard.
He has extensive knowledge about sociology but grades VERY HARD. 3 exams of nine questions each, you have to fill the ENTIRE page when answering the questions or you'll NOT get full credit. No matter how hard you try you will NEVER get 100 in any assignment. Gives some extra credit so at the end you can pass the class with a low C.
Everyone should take his class. Hes one of the best sociology professors at pcc. This class will change your perspective on life! He's amazing
Just to lend perspective: I was at PCC with no direction, took Professor Juge's Soc 001 course and was so inspired that I decided to declare Soc as my major. He truly is a great, inspirational, and charismatic professor with a heart to help students become their very best! I totally recommend him! If you need some direction in life, take his course
I loved the class, but found it very difficult. Not because I didn't understand the material or do the work, but because he grades really hard. It's not an easy class, but was one of my favorites and would take another one of his classes.
great teacher, respected by students, and all around cool guy! he grades papers a bit tough. tests are extensive, but follow the study guide exactly, so just make sure to review the study guide thoroughly. don't miss class, because there are things taught in class that you can't garner from the powerpoints/textbook. do all the extra credit!
When I first walked into this class, I didn't expect too much. This professor lets you see that not everything is rainbows and butterflies. With his grades, its not an easy A so make sure you follow the study guides provided for you and ask questions during lecture. Also he gives extra credit points too for a boost in your grades , which helps.
he knows what he is talking about, he makes class fun but very hard grader, do not expect an A
So i took Juge for Socio 14 he was tough but i got a C. This class was so tough his study guide was not as clear as what would be on the tests. He grades too tough and i did all the work and still didnt pass ans i went everyday. All written exams because he said multiple choice insults our intelligence not an easy class but lectures are interesting
This is an inspirational class. He challenge you, and is a very tough grader, do never expect an A. But, you can get a B if you work really hard. In the end of semester, only half classmates remained. Of those, most get a C grade.
I really liked this professor his passion for his job. I was previously told sociology was a bore to be avoided however Juge proved to me how interesting this class was! I believe this class truly did unlock different perceptions of the world and its societies for me. Expect 3 exams (provides study guide & notes), book is not needed. Do your best!
He is truly passionate about sociology. He gets you interested and provides great examples. He doesn't hesitate to help out students. I really loved his class because of how relatable he made the subject. I would highly recommend him to other students.
Class is and easy A if you put your part. Took him for Soc 1 and 2 and got easy As for both (I recommend taking soc2 before soc 1, more fun like that). Provides study guides for his test and everything that is in the study guide is in the test. Tony throws no curve balls at his students. He wants them to pass. Really cool guy!!
I loved the class so much, makes me cry that its over. He's so specific and clear and encourages students to ask questions if something is misunderstood. If i would've tried harder, I would've done way better but the work is pretty self explainable.
He is the toughest sociology professor at school. You will probably get a C for the class
If I could I would take his class again just to see his perspective of every sociology course offered at PCC. Take him only if you are passionate about the subject.
This class was harder than I thought. 3 papers, 2 exams, and 3-4 extra credit assignments. I underestimated this class and started out doing poorly, however, I visited Tony during his office hours and he helped me improve tremendously. He was patient and eager to help me better understand certain concepts. I ended up getting an A. Thank you, Tony.
He is intimidating at first, but he will always help you as long as you're active. I got a C for my research paper but because I did the extra assignments and did pretty well on the other tests, I ended up getting an A. It's not an easy class, but a very helpful one.
He's such an amazing Professor. I'm sad that I won't be able to able to take another course of his. But he's so passionate about this subject & his job. Just don't fall behind & make sure your study guides are all done & detailed. Also, do the extra credit. It'll help!
Extremely intelligent Frenchman. He teaches sociology magically. Loved his class. Tests are very hard as he's a tough grader but his lectures are life changing.
this is community college and sociology is supposed to be an easy subject but he makes it extremely hard, probably the hardest socio professor at school, don't take Any chances! he makes the subject unnecessarily hard, other professors are considerably easier.
Class is way to hard
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! put in work and you get the grade you deserve. Memorable and cool professor. Very nice and caring.
Juge is a really cool guy and great professor. His class was pretty hard but not impossible to get an A in. Just make sure you pay attention and do all the extra credit.
Tony's class was life changing. His class was incredibly difficult, his essays are demanding. But he is incredibly supportive. Utilize his office hours for unanswered questions. Hardest class I've ever taken but definitely the most rewarding. Just be prepared to work hard and embrace the new ideas you will be introduced to.
Tony is one my of favorite professors here at p.c.c. Very passionate about his work and speaks to you open and honestly, he's funny, and makes lectures and class interesting. If you show up and do the work you'll be fine. I wish more teachers were like him. i wouldn't take sociology with anyone else. great guy , loves to help people
ALL of his quizzes are open-ended questions.. very tough grader. he does it on purpose probably... not a single multiple choice... think twice before taking him because there are several easier sociology professor's at school compared to Juge. just ask around.. if english is not your first language you're also destined to fail with juge.
Took Two of tony's classes for winter, Soc 01 and soc 014. Great professor (:He inspired me to maybe change my overall goal to become a professor in sociology. Very easy guy if you pay attention and don't slack off.
Great professor. A million papers, all about the ghetto, white privilege, the New Jim Crow. I felt like he could definitely have taught more about ALL of the other prejudice there is out there. He does NOT like to give As so if you like your As, prepare to work harder than you ever have for that A. Show up, read the books, DO NOT FALL BEHIND!
this guy is AWESOME- best class i have ever taken: he helps you understand what's actually going on in the world & how you can help - through the eyes of someone who didn't write your text book. Incredibly inspiring. So insightful, class goes by quick because it's super interesting and he engages you throughout the lecture. love this guy
He's not the easiest professor but he's one who definitely cares. He's strict when it comes to grading although, you get what you earned. There are three papers and one main one off a book you need to read throughout the class, START EARLY! and three exams. He gives so much extra credit, DO IT ALL because you might need the extra points later.
Tony is one of the best professors I have encountered at PCC. If you are Sociology major and love the major he is the professor to take. However, his class is not easy he makes you read, he's a tough grader, and his exams are just as hard (study guide is provided). I would take him again because he is so insparational. Dont skip lecture, and read!
Avoid this professor if you can. His tests questions are so open ended. He does not use canvas so you do not know your grade unless you ask. Everything is communicated through email. If you want to take SOC 14 i recommend take ethnic studies taught by Anthony Francoso. Had to retake. So much better.
Lots of writing in this course, which is fine because all forms of communication require writing. Very intelligent and inspirational. Hard grader, but he will challenge intellect and awareness. An activist and Allie for brown and black students. Put in the effort
He is compassionate, but pushes each student to reach outside his or her comfort zone and discuss heavy and important sociological topics. A great class so far!
Tony is one of the most amazing professors at PCC. He cares about his students and the quality of education they are receiving. His lecture slides can be found online to print with space to take notes. Take advantage of his office hours and ask questions! He gives opportunities for extra credit, DO THEM. If you want an inspirational prof, take him.
I love taking Tony's class, his lecture is one of the best by far. If you are an auditory learner, definitely take his class. He knows exactly what he's teaching. Lots of reading and extra credit, but it's totally worth it and interesting. I am taking his class on Fall'17, and have signed up for the upcoming semester for his other sociology class.
He is the best! Definitely a class that will get you thinking outside of the box! He gives great lectures, study guides for exams (2exams), 4 papers to write based on 3 interesting books that he will assign, and a lot of extra credit to help your overall grade. Put the time and effort in and you will pass! Oh, don't forget office hours, helpful!
I'd say this man expects a lot from a 7am sociology course. Id either get a D or an A on his papers. You have to very specific on his test. The work load is easy, but his grading is hard.
one of the most caring, helpful, and amazing professors i have ever seen you actually study and learn about life in his class .... he is not an easy A professor and you have to be prepared to study a lot in his class , but he knows what he is teaching and not really super tough grader but an ok one ... he respects and loves his students .
Professor Juge is amazing. His lectures are super easy to follow and you only have two tests throughout the whole semester. We barely used the textbook. He also gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of them. He's an easy professor just make sure you're there for his classes and you'll pass.
Tonys a great professor. Has a lot of passion and heart for what he teaches. I was in his 0700 class and I looked forward to the class everytime without being tired. Be sure to utilize his office hours because he provides a lot of help and insight.
Tony is a real gem. Didnt use the textbook much, lectures were very clear and study guide had all the questions that would be on test. Study those, do all the extra credit A. He really cares about what hes teaching and his students
Juge is an awesome professor. He is very funny, gives great lectures and is really passionate about what he teaches. There is some reading and a few papers throughout the course but theyre easy to do because his lectures are already full of info needed for papers and tests.
I took him for Soc 14 during winter and I had a great experience. I liked his powerpoints and his whole course was very organized. There are a few papers and a couple of tests, each easy as long as you studied. He makes study guides for the tests and he quick to respond to your questions on email so he makes sure you have a good opportunity to pass
An amazing professor. HE's truly a gem and overpasses the standard of a professor. This is an ethnic studies class so be ready to talk about racism and prejudice. He makes the class fun and is so clear on what the exams will be on. Three papers are supposed to be submitted and he is a normal grader, however, he always gives great feedback.
Tony is a cool guy, but man did I not do well on his papers. He really expects a lot out of students who are just learning about sociology. He's kinda vague on what he wants, but he does help you out if you need it. Tests are easy, do the extra credit, read, you'll be fine.
Prof Juge (goes by Tony) has been the most inspirational professor Ive had yet. If you want to take a class that will change your perspective and heart SOC002 will do that and more. He makes himself available to those who need him. Its a lot of reading and a couple lengthy papers - not crazy hard. LOVE YOU TONY!!!
I ADORE this guy, his lectures are so interesting and he really encourages the class to engage with him. He made me really grow a love for sociology and I think I am a better person because of it. Take him!!!
Tony is a great Professor! I enjoyed coming to class every morning. He gives a lot of chances to do extra credit. He is a tough grader when it comes to the essays but they're not hard. Just study and ask questions and you should be fine! See you for Ethnics Studies next Semester Tony!
he is a really tough grader. Also, he needs to show his students how to write the essay that he wants, like the model. However, he just recommend you how to do it. He didn't do multiple choice questions, he just accepted short paragraph during test, horrible!
Tony is a wonderful teacher. He is a hard grader and asks for specifics within his tests and essays. Make sure to do every single extra credit opportunity he gives you, it will really help with your grade. Overall, he's a great teacher who makes the lectures funny and not as boring to sit through.
I looked forward to this class because Tony really opens your eyes to the issues that exist today. Although the class is graded by three papers and a midterm/final, it is doable. Tony is always available during office hours and he is willing to read drafts. You don't take this class to get an A, you take it to learn something new.
Tony is honestly one of the best teachers at PCC. He is very helpful and available after class if you need any assistance with assignments. There are so many opportunities for extra credit so definitely take advantage of them all. There are 2 essays and 2 exams the whole semester(midterm and final). The study guides are super helpful!
I took Tony while at PCC and now that I'm at a university, I can still say he's the best professor I've ever had. He was the professor who changed my life and if you can, take any class with him. I took 3 classes with him and loved every single one of them. I'm now applying for my PhD in Soc! It's not an "easy" class, but it's a WORTH it class.
Definitely a fought grader, likes students to write good amounts for explainations for his exams. Offers extra credit frequently that goes toward exams or essays that are assigned. Very good at lecture but dont slack off!!!
Great professor. Would absolutely take any of his classes in the future.
Juge is very passionate about sociology. The class is lecture heavy, but he makes a good effort to get the class engaged. Tests are all short answer, but he gives study guides, so as long as you look them over, you should be good. He's a tough grader when it comes to papers though, but he gives plenty of extra credit. Funny dude from France. 10/10
Really nice guy but horrible testing format! You really need to pay attention because his test arent a,b,c questions there questions that require you fill in the blank. If you suck at those type of test I dont recommend him at all... hes nice but thats it
I took all three of Tony's classes before transferring to UC Berkeley. He is truly inspirational and is the reason that I majored in soc and why I even decided to apply to Berkeley. Though he is not an easy A, his lectures are amazing and engaging. I'll graduate in Dec. and out of all my prof. both at Berk and PCC, he is the by far the best!
This class was so clear. I struggle heavily with time management, but this class is honestly not a problem. I didn't pass, but that's all on me. He is available outside of class and is very vocal about it. Honestly, take it, you will see why he is so passionate about SOC.
Tony is an awesome person. However this class is NOT an easy A or an easy B for the matter. *****DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!!!!!! and you have to really TRY on the writing assignments. 2 6 page papers. one 3 page paper and the exams are fairly easy (he gives study guides for those)
Tony Juge is funny but not worth taking his class if thats what your looking for. Provides EC but are 2 page papers. Did every one but still feel that wont even help me pass. Tests are free response & an ESSAY!!! Only 3 exams and TONS of papers. If you love sociology then take his class but dont take it if you are not interested.
He seems to care but NO. He will give you a really bad grades at the end when you don't have time to prove yourself. Give credits to those he likes......!
Tony has been my favorite teacher at PCC hands down! We would have discussions throughout the class that was interesting,I didn't even realize that was the lecture. He also made it a comfortable class setting and everyone would engage. Test arent difficult but need to understand the main concepts. There is also a book you need to read, READ IT ASAP
If you want to pass his class you need to make sure you know how to write perfectly the tests arent multiple choice. He is very smart. The class was very interesting. But is not an easy A even though you study hard you hardly will get A. I miss his class. Even thought I got C I learned so much.
If you are a soc major, take him. You'll think like a sociologist. If you're not a soc major, it's still a great class. This course is the right amount of challenging and manageable. Make sure you read the book early enough and leave time to study for short answer tests. Lectures are engaging. Some extra credit. He's very knowledgable. Cool guy.
Professor Juge is without a doubt the best professor! I took his intro to ethnic studies and I can without a doubt say I've walked away from that class knowing a lot more about institutional racism than I ever knew before. He is very passionate about sociology and it shows during lectures. Be prepared to read and don't skip the extra credit!!
The best professor so far. Youll learn a lot from his lectures. He makes you think and analyze. He explains difficult concepts in a very easy and comprehensible manner. On the other hand, he makes you look at usual things from the different angle. Dont skip extra credit, take notes during the lectures, do the assignments in time.
Tony is an amazing professor, he is very passionate about his class. He gives extra credit, its not mandatory to do but you should if you want to stay ahead, he gives quite a bit of exams as well as a 6 page paper at the end , take notes that are provided on files , dont skip and make sure to stay ahead, do not take winter session .
Although he makes his grading criteria clear, responses from him are either be more critical or be less detailed. Sometimes I work hard on a paper and get an 80, but when I skim through a paper I get a 90 O_o. Good professor overall, wouldn't take him for an "easy" A but it's still achievable.
Awesome professor, gives great lectures! Go to class, do the extra credit & you should be fine!
Do the Extra Credit!! Lectures were very enjoyable and intriguing, but you must TAKE NOTES!! Was it a tough class? If you fall behind, yes it will be. Stay on top of things and communicate any struggles. Tony is always willing and available to help. I took the class during winter session so it was condensed but definitely manageable.
Professor Juge kept the lectures short and interesting. The work was meaningful and there were not undue surprises. He was also attentive when I missed class for an emergency; he gave me plenty of time to make up the assignment and understood my situation. Not every professor is so down to earth or caring.
He is interesting and obviously very smart. I wish I could have taken this class in person, but it wasn't hard online. He's a little bit of a hard grader but just do all the assignments (unlike me which is why i got a C) and you'll do fine.
Professor Juge gives great feedback and wants his students to do well. Since the class was online, he mapped out all of the assignments and modules beforehand. Every assignment had a clear grading criteria. I really enjoyed his class and writing the papers because of the many new things I learned. It was very fun despite being online.
My advice, if you want an A please DON'T take him! I have been taking so much classes, none of them like his. The discussion suppose to be what you have learned from each topic, however, he is so harsh on grading and sometimes overwhelming. We students are not professors he just need to know that.
He grades extremely harshly and won't explain what he is looking for. The discussion post is a heavy part of your grade which even if you don't reply in what he is looking for to another student you will be docked points. In all honesty, I really haven't learned one single thing from him so far this semester, and this is from a student with an A...
Professor Juge is indeed a harsh grader, especially for his papers! He wants elaboration and for one to be extremely detailed!! If not, you will be docked points! But, overall, his class was okay, you do learn a lot! Just be ready for a lot of papers and writing!
Professor Juge is a really harsh grader. I feel like I got a grade I didn't deserve but it's whatever. I wouldn't take his class again but you can tell he's really passionate about sociology. You can probably scrape by with a least a C if you don't slack off. Otherwise, he wants details and explanations. Like nothing is enough for him.
Tony was very understanding about circumstances & his teachings were very clear as long as you put in the effort. In this class I think youll be opened to a lot more perspective & its a great intro to a lot of our global issues. The essays were not too bad & he gives you all the info needed to cite. He will get back to you promptly with questions
Tony means well but I found it really frustrating that the ENTIRE class was about Marxism with no room for your own opinion. Tony would take points off essays if he disagreed with what you were saying and was very nit-picky without good feedback. Also, he was really tough to get in touch with and refused almost any assistance. Hard pass for me.
Juge's classes aren't easy As but he's easily one of the best professors I've had (for soc & in general). You get as much as you put (for grades and knowledge). His french accent, humor, and chill personality make the early classes worth. Also, your grades are dependent on your papers but if you don't do well on them, there's always extra credit
Juge is an amazing soc prof and will make you work for your grade as all profs should. For both grades and knowledge, you'll gain as much as you put in. And for all the ppl saying he grades harshly, it's just because he wants you to substantiate your claims with evidence. Took soc 1 & 2 and just wish he had more classes for me to take :')
Juge's Social Problems online course is very demanding but one of the most educationally rewarding experiences I've had. The content the covers is relevant and crucial to understanding societal issues/problems we face today while explaining their root causes. Take his course. It will make you a better human. He gives invaluable feedback as well.
I took his class online and did not have a good experience. The class started with 38 students and ended with 12. He is not clear on what he wants. It seems like he wants to be known as one of those tough professors. Does not care about mental well being of students. I dont recommend him.
I love Professor Juge! He is very knowledgeable about Sociology and extremely approachable. You can tell he wants all of his students to pass. I had an awesome time learning about sociology from him
Definitely a teacher who cares about his students. He gave every student multiple chances to get their grades up by offering extra credit assignments, going to his office hours, etc. If you get a bad grade in this class it's probably what you deserve. He's very understanding to everyone's situation and will do his best to help out in any way he can.
We have to write a paper every week which is a lot and not easy. However, I like this class because I've learned so many things about society, politics,...
This teacher is really passionate about what he is teaching. If you are just taking it because of GE, I would not recommend him( there are easier teacher). But if you have some passion in Sociology/Ethnics study, I recommend him to you. He has two test (if you study a week before its easy)and three essays. No hw but 5-6 extra credits for grade boost
Extremely good professor who cares about the students. Fair grader with multifaceted opinions and a lack of favoritism in grading. Every assignment is an essay, so if essays are difficult for you I would steer clear, but if you love the subject you will learn immense amounts incredibly easily. And no, the professor does NOT show political bias.
Despite him being one of my first college classes, I have a feeling he will be one of the few professors I remember for the rest of my life. This class has a lot of reading and a lot of writing (4-6hrs/week in my experience), but it is 100% worth it. I cannot recommend his class enough.
He is really awesome, assignments are essays only! Remember to cite the things as much as possible! And read those amazing articles! He is not a tough grader, as long as you showed you have read the articles he assigned on canvas. But his office hours are too early to attend. I hope I would talk to him in person.
I took Professor Juge for my first semester at college ever. He was an amazing lecturer and an even better person. He always liked to drive discussion and make it meaningful. It's a lot of reading (about 4hrs/week) but only weekly essays which are 2-3 pages double spaced, and the midterm and final. Would absolutely have him again.
He's a good professor but I would not take him again, he grades harshly on his essays for no reason no matter how much effort you put in, especially for an intro to sociology class it baffles me. Lectures are good but papers are the main issue. You will never get above a 90 on a paper even if he marks off for at most two things.
he's a fun teacher, lectures are okay but if you're not very good at explaining or writing papers, good luck. lots of extra credit opportunities through
He didn't do multiple choice questions, he just accepted short and 5 long paragraphs during the test. His exams are not A, B, or C tests lol! if your not good at writing essay and long paragraphs you will be in trouble during exams!
Do NOT take this class if you are simply trying to fulfill a credit! Professor gives extremely dense lectures, heavy weekly readings and videos, and often bases class off watching documentaries rather than explaining/discussing material effectively. He is also a very nitpicky and harsh grader who solely based your grade on essays and tests. BEWARE!
Tony is a really fantastic professor who genuinely cares about the topic and students. While this class has a heavy workload, its extremely manageable if you can organize your time well and he gives due dates far in advance. It isn't hard to score well if you put in the effort to, it is very easy to get above a 90% in this class with work and time.
He was a great person overall his attitude and passion was great. He does assign a test on Fridays where you have to read and answer questions in the span of the class period. He does assign reading and his essays did require reading and watching videos. Somewhat of a tough grader I got a C in his class but would take it again.
I took his class like a year ago but it had a big impact on me. I still think about it all the time. He was tough on grading and it was not a cakewalk. I really loved this class though.
I really love Tony Juge and I think my whole class did as well!. Seeing it is of the few classes I have taken where more than half does not drop out. Professor Juge is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to discuss every and all questions. Despite the reading and papers, I learned a ton. I will take him again, and frequent office hours once more!
Professor Juge's class was challenging but highly rewarding. The reading load is heavy, but the discussions are engaging. Attending lectures and using resources like unstuckstudy ai for study prep really helped me succeed. Overall, a tough but worthwhile course.
Great lectures. I was excited for his class and his PowerPoints, even though him and I butted heads. He is argumentized even though many of his class questions are subjective. Essays are graded very strictly even though most of the prompts are opinionated. The only assignments are in class reading responses and 3-6 page essays every two weeks.
He is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are very insightful and it is clear he loves what he does. Only assignments are essays but he prepares you well for them. Definitely recommend taking.
If you're a soc major, take Tony. He is knowledgeable on the topics he teaches, and you will learn about our nation's social problems. Weekly readings (this class is reading-heavy) and multiple papers are due throughout the semester (6-8 papers), but if you stay on top of it all, you will earn a good grade. I highly recommend this class!
This was one of the most challenging yet highly rewarding classes I have taken at pcc. Juge is a wonderful professor, very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches! His class is lecture heavy, but they're engaging, and you learn so much. He truly wants to see everyone become better students. Put in the effort and you'll do great :)
His sense of humor kept me awake in the 7am class. He's genuinely caring. He's a tough grader and be prepared for writing assignments every week, but there are always extra credit essays. I'd recommend this professor if you're passionate about social sciences as he's open for discussion before and after class and is responsive even on weekends.
Professor Jugé is very knowledgable, friendly, and hilarious. I absolutely enjoyed his lectures and discussions. A lot of reading and writing, including textbooks and documents, in-class article analyses, research papers. Many extra credit opportunities, which are self-reflections on given articles. He's a tough grader, so be serious in his class.
This by far has been my favorite teacher and my favorite class however I am biased because I am a sociology major. Tony is not easy he pushes you to be the best student you can be better than you think you are capable of being and that's a really good thing. The class is interesting and built to see students succeed! Highly recommend!!!
In my opinion, this professor was mediocre. He gives very few assignments or tests, so each assignment is very important to your grade. Tough grader. Attendance is mandatory. This class gets very political, and it is reflected in his assignments and tests. As long as you say what he wants to hear you'll be fine.
Professor Juge was an okay professor. He treated everyone with respect but the way he taught the course was terrible. It was a soc course but treated it as if it was an english course, giving multiple multi-page essays with harsh grading criteria. Attendance was mandatory and lectures were just him talking for 3 hours.
Although I did enjoy his lectures and learned something in his class, this professor is a tough grader. He is a great teacher during his lectures, his assignments and grading although do not entirely reflect that. Do his extra credit, I would have gotten a B if I had done at least one of them.
As others have mentioned, he is a tough grader and assigns quite a few papers. However, it can't be said that he doesn't thoroughly prepare you for them. Keeps it interesting, injects a ton of his personal politics/ideology but it is an ethnic studies course after all. Effortlessly commands respect. Will make you laugh/think hard about the world.
This has been my favorite professor by far. Tough grader with multiple writing assignments, but very engaging and will listen to you when you speak in class. If I could take more classes with him, I would. Lots of reading but I guarantee you will definitely learn things in this class. He's very well respected for good reason.
Tony is a great person overall but he does grace hard. Do really good on tests and papers but me mindful that he does grade hard. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. He talks a lot and people tend to zone out.
