Very sarcastic. Not willing to hear the students point of view. His way or no way. Doesn't explain what he expects on his assignments.
I had this professor a couple semesters ago. I really enjoyed his class. He was sarcastic, yet very humorous. He stresses group involvement and wants all his students to understand the concepts of Speech. Take good notes and scan the book. Also, don't be nervous during speeches, he's not one to embarrass you. Not weird at all.
Follow his guidelines, you will do fine. Don't be smart, follow the rules!
Mr. Kroll was an awesome professor! I had no idea I would get so much out of his class, and I'm really quite satisfied at the outcome. I thoroughly enjoyed this class.
Not very clear in what he expects in his assignments. He does do a group assignment in the beginning and my whole group neither did othersunderstood what was expected for him. He uses textbook words and definitions. Overall he does not explain each assignment thoroughly.
He is very unclear on his assignments. Too much group work in my opinion and does not teach very well. You have to learn the material by yourself since he is not clear in what he wants.
i didn't sign up for his they switch my teacher schedule so i got stcuk with him. He is a great teacher we did group assignments and you don't need the book me and a few others studentsthe book and none of us even open the book once. we are all passing just take notes and ask questions. He is helpful.
He is a really good teacher. No need for the textbook at all. There is a lot of group work, which can suck if there are slackers but you get the opportunity to anonymously rate everyone in the group. Don't slack on the research and you'll be fine.
This class is not difficult. However, it does require a lot of group work so if you're not able to work in groups I would not advise this professor. I really liked his class, and it's very easy to get honors credit. This guy knows his stuff, and if you take his class make sure you take the very first assignment seriously; it will make the rest of the class that much easier.

I hated his class, it made my whole semester much more stressful and he once called me out in front of everyone which was very embarrassing. I did not buy the book and i am GLAD because i never needed it ! Most of his work is okay but he as a person makes the class bad.
He is very unclear as to what he wants. A very inconsistent teacher and just overall terrible. He needs to learn to loosen up and have more fun because his class puts everyone to sleep.

He's great. He explains very well what we have to do. He likes to make sure he answers everyone question. Don't be shy to ask he will explain to you till you understand. Very good sense of style and always does a funny laugh.
Mr. Kroll was very helpful. Anytime we had a question he would make sure we got a response and made sure we understood everything. He even gave us an extension to get all of our speech presentations in. He gives very good feedback and explains what needs to be fixed very well. He is big on participation and assisting our classmates.
Missed two assignments received an F and had to take class all over.

Took his online speech class. Post the discussion boards on time and you will probably get full credit. He graded the presentation videos easily and I got a 100 on each one. His instructions aren't always clear but if you email him he responds quickly and is always willing to help. Easy class.
His class is one where you really have to work for the grade, but if you remain focused, there's a lot to gain. Professor Kroll is always ready to answer questions; he is attentive. He offers a relatively easy honors A project if he sees you putting in the work. Group work is a downer, though. Do not take him if you want an easy A.
His class was very confusing online but he did answer most of my emails. However you record your videos and send them through email his grading was fair but he would grade all your assignments toward the end of the semester!
I would not take again! He does not clarify assignments correctly. He said that if we needed anything to please contact him by cell or email he hardly responds back to your questions. If he does responds, he responds to what he wants. You are better off to take the class in campus for an easy A.
I'll tell you right now he is a wonderful professor hands down! He is very helpful and clear. I didn't have any issues so far and his class was a blast. I'm seriously going to miss it. As far as grading I slacked off at the beginning but was able to pass. He is a fair grader. The only thing is his assignments were challenging.
If you hate writing essays watch out. He is pretty good though, he seems to love his job and knows his stuff. He puts himself out there by helping students. None my other profs ever offered help like he did. Only thing was there was a lot of work and I felt like dropping.
Gives a lot of time to work in group projects
Professor Kroll is a great professor his goal is to allow students to develop their ability to work in a group. As for speeches just follow the instructions he gives and an A is guaranteed. As for the group projects, it is very important to meet with your group often in order to succeed in this class.
Doesn't clearly explain the assignments that need to be done.
My impression is that Prof. Kroll is caring and dedicated. However, this online class was by far the most unclear and badly organized I've ever had in terms of presentation. It was nearly impossible to understand what his expectations are. His communication with me via email when I asked for clarification was extremely minimal. I do not recommend.
Took him in an accelerated online course. He did not provide clear instructions and was really slow to respond to questions, if he responded at all. He gave a little feedback on assignments, but after the next ones were already due, so hard to improve on what he wanted during the course. For a communications teacher he stinks at communication.
I took this class over the summer, and easy A. 5 speeches last 2 are really easy, one essay, and 2discussions every week.
Even though I tried I still ended up having one of the worst grade ever in his class, and I am a studies student, I do not understand this. Preference was shown at times.
He really does know his stuff and helps you if you don't understand. Be prepared to take a lot of notes during his class , lecture is heavy. You must really work hard to pass his class especially work with your group throughout the semester. If you want an easy class to pass I don't recommend taking him.
There's a discussion every week not hard at all. The last speeches are really easy and fun. I made a B on the essay and B one two speeches, but managed to get an A for the class.
Professor Kroll would take forever to reply to his e-mails. Kroll's syllabus was horrible and I thought it was chronological order but it's not. The quizzes were very shirt but required for you to read and pay attention because they're worth a lot.
I took his class during may semester and it was packed with consistent presentations and tests. It was difficult because of the time crunch but if you apply feedback from prior presentations and mimic his style (easy and effective) you'll do fine. Make sure you don't over think stuff and remember, everyone is as nervous as you are.
his class seemed fairly easy but his syllabus makes the course very confusing. I took his online class and it was hard to see what he wanted in the assignments due. He gave me bad grades on assignments and I asked him why I received that grade and he would ignore the question and repeat what the instructions were. Average professor.....

Professor Kroll is a great professor. He does make you work for the grade. As long as you do the work, you're good. Participation is a component in his class.
HORRIBLE teacher, makes the course MORE DIFFICULT than it needs to be. This class is harder to understand than my Anatomy class! HE makes it so difficult. VERY NIT PICKY. more than half the class ended up dropping because he makes it so difficult, I regret not dropping. The test reviews are not actual questions or examples just single word topics.
Soo. took this professor this fall and all I have to say DO NOT TAKE he will assign groups for the rest of the semester... and if one person doesnt do the work you guys will basically fail so PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IM WARNING YOU ..
Kroll is a very good professor. He is knowledgeable and wants the students to do well. The class does take work though and you have to be willing to participate in groups (which is a good life skill) to do well. Overall, I learned a lot.
This teacher is a good teacher if you those that set you up with groups for the rest of the semester. Thats right so if you get a horrible group like I DID he is not going to allow you a way out even if darn near everyone drops out of the class leaving you all the work your still expected to turn in the work and do presentations together.

Irrelevant assignments. Would not recommend this teacher. He is a tough grader even though he does NOT give any clear instructions. Did not learn anything in this course. Please DO NOT take this class. Save yourself the wasted effort.
Kroll is a good professor. He is smart and teaches the class well. The class does take participation and if your lucky to get a good group, the course will be easier to get through. He likes when you participate but he doesn't grade for participation.
Group projects are easy but he is a very harsh grader.

Hes a tough teacher. And Im gonna be honest, i would still retake his class. Almost everything is group based and if someone doesnt participate the entire group will fail. He does it for a reason tho and prepares you for real life. This class pushed my limits and challenged me. Plus this guy is a genius and gets excited when you ask questions!
Dr. Krolls class is very difficult to pass. He gives very little direction. I would not recommend at all. Do not take him.
He loves to do things last minute.
Dr. Kroll's class prove to me that even at my age, I could have hope. Sometimes I was fuzzy on understanding instructions, and the sample video volume was low but I still feel he was there to help anytime I reached out to him. If I had to take it again I would look for Dr. Kroll's class. Also the work was never overwhelming. I got my book late
Dr. Kroll is good, you can talk to him about any doubt and he will listen, he explains things very good. Do not take his class if you are not ready to work in groups because it is a huge part of the grade. Follow rules. I will take his class again if it would not required to work in groups. At the end of the semester, half of the class dropped.
I feel like this professor is misunderstood. the misunderstanding comes from lack of instruction and people not asking questions to get a better idea of what he expects out of his students, so ppl are guessing and missing (Which makes the work harder than it needs to be)This class really isnt hard. If you just communicate to Dr Kroll he will help
BY FAR the worst teacher at MVC I wouldnt recommend anyone who is trying to get an easy A or passing grade to take this professor. If youre like me and just needed this class for your associates then dont take him he makes it like if you are trying to major in speech. TRUST ME DONT TAKE HIM, I just retook speech and made an A.
I know theres a lot of bad reviews about Dr. Kroll on here but I dont understand why? This course was easy. If you need help make sure to ask and he will gladly help you. I would take this course again.
If this is your first college class do not take him. Hes arrogant and not helpful at all. If you want an A find another teacher hes not it. Doesnt even try to get to know his students. You really dont wanna take him during the summer its even worse.
Do NOT take this professor. He absolutely doesn't care whether you pass or Fail. He doesn't give you clear instructions and will expect for you to read his mind. If you want an F, then this is the class for you. Beware!!!
BEWARE!!!! This professor is far the most ignorant person and not helpful just one bit . I hate how I follow every step to get a good grade and just end it up wasting time. He is the worst in communicating yet he teach speech how does not make sense? Also when you ask him questions , he does not reply and worst on grading!!!
I took this class in the summer . Worst professor if it wasnt for rate professor now I wouldve never taken his class . Speech is super easy but you cant pass if you have a professor whos not willing to help you out ! overall I took this class and waste of time DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM
Worst PROFESSOR EVER !!! DO NOT TAKE HIM !!! Waste of time . Took this class as flex term and wow ! worst grader + worst teacher in general to explain things ? I texted him couple times and all he did was answer me with the same question or not helpful at all. VERY VERY TOUGH GRADER is like he wants you to fail the course. DO NOT DO IT
i dont recommend about this class for you. Speech class is so easy but he is a tough professional and make difficult assignment for student. He is even not explain clearly for you about the assignment so that I get a worst grade for this class

He is a nice person over all. The discussion boards are very hard, in order to get full points you have to do EVERYTHING that is instructed, if not you will get 5-10 point. (totals 50 points each discussion board) I ended up withdrawing due to the tough grading and lack of support from him. Good Luck to those who are taking this class.��
SP 1315:my advice is not to take this professor, but heres some tips if you do: COURSE CONCEPTS are literally vocabulary terms from the book, he will not tell you that. course concepts HAVE to be used in the discussion boards and replies, no exceptions HE NEVER explains things correctly, always trying to be the "smartest" guy with snarky replies.
Received a 79.44 in his class. Unfortunately the last assignment on a speech he didn't provide feedback and gave me an 80. (Needed an 83)When asked for feedback, he ignored my texts, I was 3 points away from a B-, and when asked if he could look at the speech again since I tried and went by the book, it's what he "felt" it deserved. DONT EVEN TRY.
This is easily the WORST professor I've ever had. Please don't take his class or if you have to, take it in person. He is terrible at explaining his difficult assignments and a very tough grader. Please save yourself the trouble and don't take his class.
Do not recommend him at all. Do not give good feedback nor clear instruction on assignments. If u ended up taking him then email him every time before submitting the assignment that way u could at least receive a better grade.
This professor is the worst I've ever taken, and these ratings should have been my first warning sign, but I wanted to see for myself. He does NOT know how to give a single clear instruction. He makes everything confusing on purpose, even wording prompts in ways impossible to dissect. He's terrible; you don't want to take this class, I promise!
This has got to be the worse class i have ever taken. This professor does not explain himself good and mostly everyone dropped the class due to him not being able to explain his assignments. I recommend DO NOT take him for classes and its sooo much worse in the summer.
The instructions for almost all of his assignments were very unclear and if you ask for clarification, hell beat around the bush without giving you a direct answer. He does let you make up for any missing points towards the end of the course but overall does not care whether his students pass or fail.
Regardless of what class you're taking, if it's with this professor, DO NOT TAKE IT. He is a very picky/tough grader from the start of the class to the end, and is very adamant on the assignments being completed to his standards. If those standards aren't met, don't expect to get even CLOSE to an A. Terrible excuse of a professor, STAY AWAY.

He is doesnt reply to email right away, nor does explain the assignments right away. To many discussions boards .. only one try on each assignment. Timed quizzes with a minute each question. No extra credit or make up work no extra chances.
He really is bad at communicating with his students he is not clear in his assignments to what to do and when students have questions and email him he does not answer at all. The questions that he doesnt answer we try to do the work as we think it is not really sure and he is a tough grader and he gives no make up work. Little time on quizzes.
This proffesor was hard to get along with because he feels the need to be there smartest man in the room yet his way of teaching is confusing. This man can drag out a simple explanation for the entire class after he said he would give us time to work on our stuff. Extreamly hard to work with him. Just go with someone else that will be patient.

This was one of the toughest class that I have taken. Many people would say since it is an online class it is easy but it is not. His discussion boards are through a grading rubic scale. If you do not meet the requirements your score will be very low. The directions are not clear. Choose a different teacher.
Avoid at all cost. Kroll will expect too much from you without giving you proper instructions. The online course is very disorganized and you will be pretty much on your own to figure things out. Upon contacting the professor about very low scores you will receive a narcissistic reply telling you how terrible you are at your work with no solution.

Was a lecture, if you go to class you'll be good. Exams are different: they're examples, so don't memorize the material, know it. The worst part was the group project. The instructions for the projects are vague. Groups have around 7 people, but if 4 people drop the course from the group, meaning you only have 3 members, he won't remake the groups.
This professor was terrible I called myself taking his class for a minimester class and had to drop it unfortunately. He has us doing things you should do in a 16 week course compacted into 3 weeks and his discussions are terrible with no directions I would advise you to run if you're considering on taking him.
To be honest this class is fairly easy. Just put in the work like everything else in college. When I read the reviews here I was scared but really I think those bad reviews are from people not college ready.
The worst professor I have ever had. I don't recommend anyone to take any course with this awful lecturer. There is no clear direction and less oriented.
Truly speaking, I don't know how they are in on-campus class, but I dropped this online class because of its difficulty. I couldn't catch the unclear direction, though I tried to improve my class activity. I wish good luck to those taking the online class in this course.

The worst professor, super hard grader yet gave no helpful feedback and refused to help. No clear directions and lots of group work when groups were not available due to everyone dropping the class.
Most difficult-to-understand instructions with no clear feedback on why you got a grade that doesn't feel right. Grading- you can follow the instructions to perfection, including how he says it in lectures, and still manage to get low grades. Questions by email - either never answer the question asked or beat around the bush til you get frustrated

This professor was terrible. literally graded all the assignments the night the class ended. gave terrible feedback. he seems genuine but he just cant give proper feedback.
As a dual credit student Professor Kroll did not make it "easier" in a sense to seek for help or any kind of good feedback. Super vague on what he expects on assignments, I dropped that class for a reason and it was because he would grade his assignments super late, with no helpful feedback, harsh grading, I wouldn't take this class ever again.
Kroll's class is a mixed bag - lectures can be decent, but assignments and grading are vague. Definitely use unstuck ai and the free textbook to stay on top of things. Overall, proceed with caution.
This professor did NOT grade well at all. I turned in assignments on time and took my time on them and he gives me 40% for most assignments. The highest grade he gave me was literally a 60%... I would not recommend taking his class if you want to pass and need to take speech.
His criteria is very clear & strict for his presentations so make sure to hit every point. He is not very familiar with D2L or Brightspace & everything is according to “Blackboard.” If taking online SPCH1311 be prepared for group project that classmates will not participate in. His communication is subpar online, be ready to speak up for yourself.
8 week course - made us do 8 discussions with 2 peer responses each, 4 recorded speeches, 3 page essay, quizzes for every module & a group project no one contributed to.Then offered an alternative assignment 2 days before the due date for the group project.DOES NOT GRADE LATE WORK. Used decade old videos of in person lectures. Just don't.
Overall very difficult professor. Work was all over the place, barely able to understand, grades extremely tough for simple errors. Never received a passing grade for his discussions although I went back and fixed my mistakes according to his feedback. So far worst professor that I have had. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!
I really did NOT enjoy this class. This was my first time having a college level class and this was a TERRIBLE experience. He was a tough grader. No matter how much time and effort I put it wasn't enough for him.
SO hard at grading
Tough professor. Very unclear and vague instructions. Harsh grading. Group projects with random people. Dropped after doing the first 2 assignments. All the assignments were to be completed in 4-day periods, and a significant amount of reading was required.
I landed in this class unintentionally; my schedule was rearranged by the counselors. I am considering a drop; I have been in this class for a month. Truthfully, the amount of work isn't insane, but you have to stay consistent. But: Instruction is not clear, and feedback sucks. If you're taking this class, I hope you receive mercy from his grading.

The professor is pretentious and overcomplicates assignments, generally annoying because you can only do the assignments *his* way.
lay out of online was unorganized, professor was not clear with instructions and responded to emails/ discussion post with no compassion.
This professor assigns a lot of tedious homework, lectures, & exams. You are required to take tests at the testing center, which uses webcams & live proctors. If you fail or are caught cheating, he will report you to the Dean's office, which could result in failing the entire course or even being expelled—no exceptions. Avoid taking this professor!
