Mr. Nelson is an excellent teacher who is interested in helping each of his students. He is patient and has a wonderful sense of humor. His class is a blast and it really makes you love math. Do take his class.

Love him! Did not like him at first but ended up as one of my all time favorite professors. He is very helpful, funny, and hardworking. Not a professor for one who wants an easy A. You have to work hard for it but I highly recommend him!

Highly recommended! Goes through each section step by step-really clarifies it for you. Uses very, very positive reinforcement. Exams are great, gives some extra credit problems. He makes the class fun and interesting. Take him for Beginning Algebra, too. I wish I had.

Nelson is a fantastic teacher. His classes are fun, fun, fun. He makes alegbra 'sexy.' I am now hooked on algebra and look forward to his intermediate class in the fall.

I am NOT good at math at all. My brain does not speak algebra. I have never made anything above a "c" in math until I took Nelson. I am now making an "A". He is incredibly approahable and does everything he can to help you understand. He makes his classes interesting and funny so it is a stress-free learning environment.

If you pay attention in class, do your work, and study, you can get an A in this class. He's fair and tells you what you need to know in order to pass. However, it's not easy if you don't study. As the saying goes, "You'll get what you pay for."

Awesome instructor. I dropped math in high school in another country and took him for intermediate and college algebra. He is very helpful and has really inspired me to study other mathematically related subjects. He appreciates students who want to learn and make an effort; all round great instructor.

I was very scared of college algebra, but he made it as enjoyable as possible! He says he "doesn't give grades out like candy on Halloween", which is true. However, if you come to class, do your homework, and practice the study guides... you have no way of not succeeding!

I've known Tony my whole life basically and I had no idea I was even good at math until college because of him! I received an A in intermediate algebra, a B in College Algebra, and a B in Calculus! He was so helpful and he's the funniest man you will ever meet, always has hilarious stories! He's definitely the bomb.com! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

Great teacher. He made class enjoyable. I took the friday morning weekly class and was great. We only had 4 tests, the last of which was our final, and the final replaces the worst grade. Easy homework points too!

Mr. Nelson is good professor but an even better person. He has a quirky sense of humor and I don't think I have ever laughed more in a mathematics course. He has a very understandable approach but doesn't like loafers. If you give a sincere effort he will do everything in his power to help you achieve.

I never thought College Algebra would be so fun. Mr. Nelson is very clear and helpful, but as another post put it, he does not tolerate slackers. If you do your homework and attend class regularly you'll do well. I wouldn't miss one of his classes, they were too fun!!

Explains problems simply and clearly. Doesn't just give you the answer, but makes you use your brain. If you can't get algebraic concepts, HIGHLY recommend getting help in Math Lab. They are excellent. Nelson has great dry sense of humor & tells amusing stories.

He is an amazing teacher and I am so glad I took his class. It is right he jokes and talks about other stuffs but that makes the class more dinamic and you forget that you are in a algebra class. Nelson is helpful. He always provided plenty of time for Q&A over any confusion. I popped into his office if I was really struggling and he was always glad to help. Form study groups if you need more help. If you have a history of blowing off class and homework then he will blow you off. He can't help people who won't help themselves.

Very good teaching methods. Cracks just enough cheesy jokes to keep class from being to boring. Not always funny, but not boring. I failed this course, but only because if attendance issues early in semester. Very helpful teacher. Show up and try, and I don't think he would let you fail. But won't just hand out a grade un-earned.

Great teacher, talks a lot about non math related topics, but is so clear in how he teaches math that you will find you don't need to ask questions because it all makes sense to you. Definitely plan to take all math courses available with him, he knows his stuff and will make sure you do to.

Have taken him for Intermediate and college algebra, amazing teacher. Gives outlines for all lectures as well as study guides for test. Pay attention in class and its impossible to fail. Cracks a lot of jokes to keep the lectures interesting, would gladly take him again if he taught Trig.

Algebra finally makes sense! Gives GREAT lecture notes and study guides. You will have to do the work & come to class but he basically hands you everything you need to pass.

I've always loved math and coming into this class I was pretty excited. There were a few stuff that I struggled on during high school that Prof. Nelson made clear to me. I love the idea of the note guide. Ask questions and studying helps for the test.. Really great instructor, wish he taught Elementary Statistics so I could have him next semester.

These few people who gave Nelson a bad review must have been the ones who didn't show up for class or just made excuses to be the victim. SHOW UP TO CLASS, COPY THE NOTE GUIDES, communicate and ask questions via e-mail before class. He is awesome, I would recommend him to anyone. I made it out with a B!

I never understood math until I took Nelson. He provides note-guides which saves you time and is easier to look at and understand when doing homework. He is one of a kind, and puts on a show while teaching. Of course you are going to have to study and it is challenging. ITS COLLEGE! I took him for intermediate and college algebra. So good!!!!!!!

Great teacher. Keeps it interesting and keeps everyone involved. I learned so much about Algebra. Feel very comfortable about moving on to Trigonometry. Do not skip class or you will fail and get behind. Take good notes and do the homework and you will pass.

Professor Nelson is easily my favorite professor. He challenges students to think critically and hold themselves to a higher standard of achievement. Students who take him are lucky to have a professor that cares about what they are learning and how they will be able to relate/apply what they have learned to their careers. BEST TCC instructor ever! Class is always fun if you are not soft. He will help if you ask so dont be scared. Remember to copy the notes and do the reviews. His tests and entire class is the normal difficulty of a math class. In the beginning he comes off harsh, but he is only being honest to help you.. taking him next semester!

Mr. Nelson is a great professor! He challenges his students because he wants you to get what you paid for and he knows who is truly there to learn by seeing who puts in the time and effort. Mr. Nelson also makes a difficult subject bearable by breaking up the lectures with interesting life stories and experiences. I would recommend him to anybody.

In an 8 week course the info will be 2 weeks then a test. If you go to class and do the homework there's no way to not get an A. He works with you, will stay after class to help you, and is inspirational. One of the absolute best teachers I ever had!! You'll definitely know your math after a class with him and no chance at getting bored!!!

Mr. Nelson is very helpful & always willing to explain any question to you. He gives very detailed note guides that he follows during lecture & are great for referring to while completing the homework. He does get distracted occasionally during class with stories (then gets back to teaching) but, for me, this helps keep my attention from drifting.

Mr. Nelson Pre-Calc class is a great class to enroll into. Attendance is key. You will print a note guide at the beginning of the week and go over it in class, then you access your E-book and do the 10-20 *SAME PROBLEMS AS ON NOTE GUIDE* questions. His exam reviews are lengthy and the only extra credit is a couple probs on the exam. And he's funny!

For PreCalculus - Mr. Nelson is AMAZING. I showed up to every class, finished the homework in a timely manner (as it was fresh on my mind), and asked questions when I had them and I think these contributed to my success. He offers multiple extra credit opportunities on every test and he provides any formula you may need.

I've never been the best at math, and was honestly dreading taking Business Calculus, yet Professor Nelson gave you all the materials needed to pass this class. As long as you don't skip class, put in the effort to learn the material, and actually study for the tests (he gives the exact types of problems you'll see on the tests), you'll pass.

Professor Nelson is one of the very few math teachers I've met who can turn a complicated subject into an understandable one. If you take his class, be prepared to put in the work. This guy does speak his mind, and he can ramble from the lesson, but personally, I thought the jokes and fun made a dry subject much easier to endure.

Great Professor. Really knows his stuff and wants you to know it too. I took him for precal and business cal and hes all around just a great guy. He really wants to see you do well but doesnt baby you about it. So if you are sensitive to work dont take his class. HW is 25 points and the rest is tests which their are 4 and they are all worth 400.

Amazing Professor. He understands his material and wants students to learn. You do have to study and work hard, but his hilarious sarcasm and stories create a less stressful environment. I often times forgot I was learning math (something almost everyone hates). I would recommend this class to anyone who is willing to put in the work! It's worth it

The absolute best Math instructor I have had. His class consists of: sitting through a lecture, going home and doing the assignments, and studying for his exams (Which yes, please study for them.) He's fair and will slow down if you ask him to. The lectures are made more appealing with his jokes and stories he tends to go on about.

Ive always been good at math but he is by far the best math teacher Ive had. He creates note guide to follow along with lectures and explains things in a way that make them so understandable and simple. Tony is the best Math teacher I ever had. He does not make you do math online its all hand written pencil and paper. Always PENCILS ON TEST!!! He is super funny and he will help but you cannot be afraid to ask for help. If you miss class he will let you come to another class to hear the lecture. The best teacher I have ever had at TCC!!!!

Mr. Nelson is an old school style teacher. He is very blunt and will call out excuses, if you are a sensitive snowflake you may not want to take a class from him. If you show up, use common sense, follow instructions and do the homework you will do fine! I actually enjoyed calculus and my last algebra class was 12 years ago.

Got a C because I missed a couple of days, missed notes harmed my test.. He makes class fun, so if you don't like math don't worry with taking his class! I very much rec pairing his precalc with his essentials for precalc, it helps.

I took Mr. Nelson's online PreCalculus class and I loved how he formatted the class. The only thing that I did not like was how distracted he got in the note videos that he gave us. He is a great professor but talks a lot.

Listen, this man is a treasure. He will give you every measure just too succeed he is a absolute treasure. An amazing professor you just need to maintain contact and let him know what you are working on and he WILL work with you. I had several problems throughout his course that I needed help with and he was so willing to give that help. AMAZING !!

Mr. Nelson is a great teacher, as somebody who struggles with dyscalculia and a general dislike for all things math, I actually enjoy his class and understand the concepts. A lot of people confuse a hard class with a bad teacher, hes a tough teacher who takes no excuses but as long as he sees effort on your end he will do whatever he can to help.

He does everything to get you to pass. He provides note guides that he goes over in class with you & does videos going over the note guide if you need to go back over it or missed class. There is a textbook and there can be a bit of hw however it's participation points. Do the reviews because the quizzes are the review with different numbers.

He won't help you with the homework unless you were in class. Loves to discuss his personal political/moral beliefs and uses half the lecture time to tell jokes. Make sure you understand the homework as you do it. 100% use the test review and put as many questions from it onto your notecard as possible. He's kind of rude sometimes but oh well.

This man is an absolute gem. Told the funniest stories throughout lecture so you are never bored, made learning incredibly easy. He does move kinda fast. If you struggle with math you may have to ask for some extra assistance, which he would be happy to give! You can tell he really cares about his students. I will miss his class!!

He makes you understand everything before you leave the class. There is a lot of homework everyday with some quick turn arounds in the beginning of the week but he is awesome

Tony Nelson is easily one of the best precalc teachers at NE Campus. Funny and intelligent dude. Always responded to emails very promptly and was able to provide additional help whenever it was needed. He assigns a generous amount of homework but doesn't overload you or give you impossible due dates. Definitely would take his class again.

Professor Nelson was the BEST math professor I had. He is hilarious. He is very chill with everyone. He is always helpful and nice and he replies to his emails super fast!! He replied to my emails very frequently and his tests are always the exact as the study guide he gives out

Mr. Nelson is great. If anyone doesn't like his class, it's because it is homework heavy and they're most likely lazy. I spent hours on homework every day, it made me better at math and a better student overall. Especially with math, if you want to understand, repetition is key.

Professor Nelson is great at what he does; he makes his lectures easy to understand and will answer any question you ask no matter what. However, he throws fits if his questions go unanswered (fair enough). His homework can be lengthy, but he usually provides an answer key to help check your work which is nice. He also lets you a notecard on tests.

You either get it or you don't! I loved Mr. Nelson and his teaching. Most of the people who complain have issues with being on time, putting in effort, actually coming to lecture, or have sensitivity issues. There's a huge difference between struggling and not caring! The greatest math teacher I have ever had! There is a lot of homework but it all correlates to the quizzes and exams. I personally have difficulty with math but he was always patient and ready to answer my questions. This class does require you to put the work in for the grade but you won't regret taking him!

Professor Nelson can be a mixed bag - his lectures are hit or miss, but he's generally helpful if you engage with the material. The homework is tough, but using Unstuck ai and the provided answer keys helps a lot. Worth taking if you're willing to put in the effort.

I took Mr. N for two different classes, he is very understanding and cares about his students. Engage in class and you will be fine. I do not recommend taking this class if you are a snowflake. Homework for every lecture which is easy but time consuming. He lets you use a notecard for tests and reviews are exactly what the test is.

All of Mr. N bad ratings come from those that are already bad at math and just want someone to blame besides themselves for not working hard enough to understand the material. He is very caring and understanding, he truly wants all of his students to succeed. His personality may cause snowflakes to melt, honestly a good reason to take him.

Mr Nelson is honestly one of my favorite math teachers ever. I was nervous to re-enter college and expected to struggle more in his class, but he really does care to make it understandable. He is one of the teachers that is there to better the students fr and does not care abt the power trips. If you show up and apply effort, he will work with you.

Returning to school was stressful, especially since math isn't my strongest subject. However, Professor Nelson excels at teaching the foundational concepts to ensure future success.
