Very hard - plan to work your tail off! Don't take another class with this one.
Terrific teacher, extremely hard course. Will learn a lot.
The best class I've had in the MBA Program. Dr. Plath is just excellent!
Good instructor, touch course
He is just excellent!!! No doubt he's no. 1 in terms of finance class.
Core finance course is excellent. An encyclopedic lecturer. Willing to help.
Outstanding teacher. Toughest course in program, but learned a lot!
Very condescending. I would never take another class with him.
very tough class - inst. and markts.
Hard!!! Hard!!! Even though your grade suffers you learn ALOT!!!
Outstanding professor. This is a tough class for a non-finanical student.
He is a fabulous teacher. Its really hard, but all FINN will seem easy after him
articulate and knowledgeable
very good
HARD, HARD, HARD Run if you can!!!
HARD, cheat sheet & still hard, SMART professor, moves at speed of lightening
Unnecessarily hard!!! Try to avoid. Not teaching class spring 03. Take advantage
Whatever! He is hard, but he's also the best.
THE BEST. WILL LEARN A LOT BUT WILL WORK HARD.
complicated!! but u learn a lot
Outstanding professor. This is a tough class for a non-finanical student.
THE BEST. WILL LEARN A LOT BUT WILL WORK HARD.

Great professor. Always willing to help. Allows a cheat sheet to help you on test! Practice the math problems before test and an easy A. If you do not understand, just ask him!!
Outstanding professor. This is a tough class for a non-finanical student.
Go to class. Great teacher. Tests are 25 questions and you can have a 8.5x11 cheat sheet for exams.
If you don't have a finance background, do not -- DO NOT -- attempt to take in summer, unless you can devote at least 30 hours per week to studying. I don't care how smart you are... Knowledgable guy, though.

Be prepared to teach yourself. If you're smart you'll make it through the class with a B. But if you need a good TEACHER, don't take him.
This guy talks so low you can't understeand him he goes so fast that we never learn anything and his huge study guide has nothing to do with the test. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Unless you can teach yourself!!!!
Much talkative guy, test is much easier than expected.
Very challenging class unless you actually enjoy Finance and Accounting. Tests are hard, lectures are incredibly boring.
A good teacher, tests are challenging but not impossible...but then comes the final (not cumulative) and you wonder at what point you learned 99% of the stuff it asks you. Hint: Get a degree in finance, then take the class!!
Horrible teacher! Tests are impossible, need a degree before you take the class. Cheat sheet helps none. Talks so low and fast have no idea what's going on. Very condesending!! DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL!!!!!
Very good teacher, clesr and concise, but you MUST interact and ask questions. Lectures can be interesting if you enjoy finance. Test are challenging but the allowed cheet sheet helps if you know the material.
This guy is HORRIBLE! he is very unclear and teaches like it's a waste of his time. Beware of asking questions, he'll make you feel stupid in the process. MC tests are hard as well...
unclear, gives awful lecture notes, one test you might do well and the next do horrid. i do not recommend him at all.
This guys is the WORST. Im busting my AS* just to get a B. His lectures are extremely boring and he is not helpfull at all. His tests are nothing like he says they are going to be and they are different every time. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY~!~
Fairly good professor, he goes over what's important in the book so you don't have to sit down and read the whole thing. And he takes his time to cover the material, we didn't get to all the chapters listed on the syllabus. You can have cheat sheet.
unless this is your major, find someone else!
Sit near front and listen in class! Homework is not turned in, but helps a lot when you take the test!
no homework is nice. go over the book and teach yourself, and god forbid you ask him to help you with your calculator!!
If you don't go to his lectures and don't practice the homework, you won't pass the class! Only goes over what is needed on the tests and nothing more. Spends enough time on each section, great professor!
Very informative class (recommend for all Finance majors). He'll annoy you by spending half the class time telling YOU how to take notes. Otherwise, listen and interact in class. UNDERSTAND the material and tests are a piece of cake...
I will say I learned a lot, however, I had to teach myself. To survive in this class you need to make it the primary focus in your life (over family work and anything else) for the entire twelve weeks. This guy is excessive and classtime is not helpful.
Repeats everything numerous times, whistles when he says "s", horrible teacher, not too bright, horrible class, you're better off teaching yourself and not going to his PAINFUL lectures
he is easier then Baber
Read the chapters and put notes from them on your cheat sheet (yes he lets you have a cheat sheet) the tests are concepts from the chapters, do the homework too and you will do fine
Hard class, teach yourself. Best guide was the books website. He doesn't care if you pass or understand. Doesn't allow questions until the end of the section..what good does that do if you don't understand the beginning? One good thing- 1 page cheat s
Attend class, do the homework and you should be fine. He speeds up towards the end of the semester. Kind of arrogant. You have to figure out the financial calculator on your own, but it isn't hard.
I understood better when I read the book instead of listening to him. Every test you are allowed a 1 page cheat sheet. I recommend getting a financial calculator.
He flies through the material with no enthusiasm. Will not help more than the bare minimum. Why he is employed I am not sure because he should not earn a penny from my pocket. Grading is 4 tests, multiple choice, questions are tricky
Excellent professor. Really knows his stuff and teaches it well. Gets bad ratings because he actually expects students to 1) work, and 2) learn. If you're not into learning, you'll have a hard time in his class.
He seems hard, but he has helped me out alot. take your time to get to know him and be nice to him and he will help you out as much as he can! always late to class though!
I had a really hard time with this class. I usually do well in classes, and I really studied hard for this class, but still ended up with a C. He talks so fast. I felt like the 1st and 3rd tests were not representative of the material that we covered.
He should not be teaching with the kind of attitude he has. Doesn't clarify anything that will be on test. Talks to fast to take down even two words. Do not take this class if you don not have to.
The HARDEST class I've ever taken. Pay attention, take good notes, and do the readings! I actually learned something once I picked that up!
Horrible professor. This man should not be allowed to teach anywhere. Exams are not representative of material covered in class (except for the 2nd exam). Says he will help you but in reality he just does not care.
Took in summer received a B. Much better than Baber any day. Does not grade homework!!!!
If you do your work and keep up with readings you will do well in this class. Dr Plath expects you to learn and he tests your knowledge....believe me it is not an easy A or B you have to earn it!!
Extremely difficult. Tests have information on them that he didn't even cover. DON'T tske this if you want to get an A. He will just leave you dazed and confused.
WOW! HE TALKS SO FAST! Never thought a recorder was necessary for class, I regret I didn't get one for his. I got a C, read articles, and take notes. Participate in class is a must, I think he might hook up the grade if you do.
I hate him
This is the worst class I have ever taken If I put in time and effort into a test I do ok I did all the homework and spent about 4 or 5 hours on each test and failed them then when I went to talk to him about them all he told me was drop the class do not take this class beware the WRATH of PLATH
This guy talks faster than anyone in the world. Hard, but fair. To get an A in this class, you will have to work hard, but if you do, you will be more than prepared for FINN3220. If you seek knowledge, take him over anyone! If you just want to pass, i will recomend you avoid him, because on average 30% people fails his class.I would highly recomend
He is very hard! You have to study hard and do all homework and go to class to get what he is talking about in class! Home work not collected and no attendence policy. I would not recommend taking him if you have a full class schedule! Seriously he is hard. I got a C but had lots of help!
His lecture style is annoying. He throws out odd questions and answers them himself. He talks like the words are spilling out of his mouth. His enthusiasm is unfortunately not infectious. He needs to focus hard on getting to the point. A liability NOT an asset to the University MBA program. Among the most unpopular professors in the program.
He's a straight up mean dude! He's hard, he doesn't test you on the material in the book or homework problems at all. DONT TAKE HIM!!
If you are serious about your education, if you want to learn something at the UNCC-Finance program, Plath is one of few you MUST take! You will not get nothing free; you must earn it-but you will learn! I learned more in his classes than in all other Finance classes I took in two years. "The Wrath of Plath" is the way to go! Slackers-Avoid him!
teaches too fast and don't get much feedback to see if students understand. 90% of the material is not understood by students. very knowledgable but lack the best way to convey to ensure a good understanding.
HORRIBLE TEACHER. HE WOULD SPEED THROUGH EVERYTHING AND THEN LEAVE U IN THE DARK. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY HE IS TERRIBLE!! HOMEWORK THAT WAS ASSIGNED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MATERIAL ON TESTS.
Dr. Plath was one of the worst proffessors that I have ever had!! Don't even think about asking a question in the middle of the class. He has to finish teaching the topic before any questions are answered. WARNING.....Take another professor.
Difficult class, but it is supposed to be! This is college! I learned more in his class then any other FINN class. Very intuitive in regards to his knowledge of the market. You will have to work and learn something!! So slacker students stay away. You will only end up negatively affecting the market someday at my and my portfolio's expense!
Do not take this professor! He speeds through all the material so you have to go back and teach it to yourself from his main topics he gives you. But his homework problems he assigns are nothing like whats on his test! His test are extremely hard and very wordy and complex. Pass on this professor!
Plath is extremely knowledgeable. People complain about how he tests on material that he hasn't taught- he makes you bring everything together on the tests. He tells you straight up you can’t BS your way through finance, apparently the people who left bad ratings didn’t believe him. College the way it should be...challenging. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
He is by far the worse professor that I have ever had. I've taken other classes that I found to be challenging but he's not a teacher, he's more interested in proving the he has knowledge instead of sharing or teaching you. If you can avoid taking him I would! I passed but it had nothing to do with him.
The worst professor ever!!!! I should get my money back. Went to see him out of class for help and he said "Don't expect any help out of me." He teaches finance as if everyone in class has been in the industry for 20 years. Loves to fail students!!! Do not take this A*%hole!!
The worst professor I ever had! It is not enough to know your subject for a teacher, he or she also need to be able to explain it to students. He spoke so fast that it is almost impossible to take notes. I asked him a question once, and he replied that he already menioned it previously and will not repeat. I wish I knew about this site before!
Extremely knowledgeable... Its important to understand that, unlike almost every other professor, he wants you to think. His classes are challenging but I promise you, you will learn more from him than any other professor there (at least that I know of). BUT!! YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT
Dr. Plath's class is great for anyone majoring in Finance. He does not give you anything that you do not deserve and his test really require you to know the entire finacial concept and also be able to apply it. I recommend this class to fully prepare you for the other finace classes. The class is not easy but when your done you'll be prepared
Very hard prof. Do not take his 6152 class unless you are very strong in finance. He talks fast so be ready to write a lot. Test are short answer and not like the example problems he gives. If you love finance and want to be challenged, he is the teacher for you. Personally during a summer session, working 50 hours a week it was a tad much.
He is kinda of like the gatekeeper to potential finance majors. The class is not easy but if you go to class and learn the material, you will be successful. A rude awakening to anyone who thinks college classes are as easy as they were in high school. In the real world you have to adapt and overcome to be successful, so start now.
Extremely fast passed. No time for absorbtion. Reccommend voice recorder to keep up. Test's are very difficult.
Horrible, RUDE, doesn't care about students.DOES NOT KNOW how to teach--he knows his stuff but doesnt care if students understand the material.
Worst Professor ever!!! Taught the class like it was an MBA class. Tests are extremely hard. Dont take this professor!
He was very hard and was not helpful when I attended his office hours and just said that everything was in the book. I'd recommend a different professor. He doesn't care about the students at all. I don't understand why he's teaching.
He is really not that bad or hard. Allows a cheat sheet and you can write as much as you want. He is very knowledgable. You can make an A by studying and making a good cheat sheet. It takes two weeks to get use to his whistling and he was never on time when class started though.
Not nearly as bad as others have said. Yes, he talks fast and he asks concept questions that test understanding. He won't hold your hand, but he gives you a full piece of paper to make a cheat sheet on for each exam. Go to class and he tells you what will and won't be on the exams. No reason to worry if you have a brain in your head.
I would avoid him at all costs. He is a horrible teacher. He comes to class just to talk, he doesn't want students to participate. I don't know why he is a professor.
I just had this guy, and he is one to avoid. He has knowledge, but his purpose in being at the school is to hear himself. He is a conservative republican that spends class time discussing his political views which have nothing to do with the topic. He doesn't connect with students nor is he willing - the wrong approach for an instructor.
He doesn't follow the book, nor do his "lectures" have to do with the material in the book. He provided an old syllabus so the dates did not match the current semester. And since he didn't follow the syllabus, we had no idea of what we were doing. His lectures are all over the map, and he doesn't seem to pause between sentences. Horrible teacher
Very knowledgable, extremely hard. test he gives have nothing to do with his lectures, so there is alot of guessing about what to study, test are 10 short answer questions. make sure to read the articles if you decide to take, but i would stay away if you can
This guy is tough but he knows what he is doing. His classes are a great for closure to all the technical micro management that are taken before. I recommend a recorder because he is quick and his exams are from his lectures. exams are 10 short questions and he looks for certain words and Finance expressions. Strongly recommended.
He is not helpful at all. Everything is a 1 or 2 on scale of 5 difficulty. He only taught to one side of class, his left. When he asks if there are any questions, he whispers it. He advises you to go to class and you will get a good grade, but he only tells read the whole chapter. I took about 3 things from lecture not in the book.
he tells you that you will make a's and b's on the tests if you come to class. all he does in class is tell you to read the book. the tests are not like the homework problems he assigns. he says everything is "super easy and obvious". not.
Plath may not be the clearest, most helpful teacher in the world, but he is fairly smart. I can see why others have given him bad ratings, but if you come to class, write down what he tells you to, and read the book, you should be fine. I came to class almost everyday, read the book, and did a few homework problems, and I made an A in the class..
Horrible professor. Would go over topics and finance problems and would say afterward that it's easy material in a condescending tone. If he didn't feel like teaching, he would tell you to get a pen and mark what sections to study on your own.
Avoid Plath like the plague!! He is the worst teacher I've ever experienced. Working on my 2nd B.S. degree and he is horrible. He is smart in finance, but he has no idea what being a professor truly is. I went to class every day and still failed. Took under another professor and received a B! Avoid him! Avoid him!!
He is by far the WORST professor that I have had in my three years here. I went to class everyday, read the book, studied, and I still seemed to do bad! He has such a negative attitude towards the class, and convinces us that we will fail, no matter what! He's smart and knows his stuff, he just can't teach it!!! AVOID HIM!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!! He is the worst professor ever! He CANNOT teach. He knows his stuff but does not care if you are getting it or not. His exams are very hard. He says the exam it's going to be like the homework, so I did ALL the homework and I still had to drop the class because I got low grades and didn't want to hurt my GPA. AVOID HIM!!!
I took Plath for two courses, his markets course and his banking course. Disclaimer: If you aren't interested in learning finance then he isn't for you. I graduated in May and took a job as an analyst, and I got more out of his two courses than I did from all other finance courses combined. He's the most under appreciated finance professor in BCoB.
Test are hard! He knows finance but the concept to his questions are difficult to understand. He believes everything is easy and you should understand it at the pace he teaches. I dont recommend him for a professor at all. IF you take him make sure you go to class and read the book and understand the concepts not just the definitions
Anthony Plath is a good teacher. Most people are going to give him a bad rating because they are bad students. Not easy, Not Difficult. He lays out the entire course, test, and teaches to the test. Come to class and do the homework as he asks. A good student will get an A. A carefree student can get a C.
If you came to college to learn, take this class. If not, go find a section taught by a Ph.D student.
A very smart man but goes so fast it is impossible to keep up with the material. If you ask a question he embarrasses you in front of the class and makes you feel dumb. Can't remember one day he didnt fill the whole board with material and look at the class and say "see its really easy". Avoid!!
If you are in the conservatives vs. liberals world view and you are on the conservative side. TAKE THIS CLASS, he caters to that kind. If you could care less about politics and are just force to take this class, you can get by, keep your head in the books and come to class (record the sessions). Do that and you can make a C.
Three exams. Each 1/3 of your grade. This class is not very easy, but I can say I learned a lot. If you are a Finance major and want to know the ins and outs of Finance before going into upper level classes, take him. You'll be glad you did. 10 points on your grade for random clicker days. Follow along and do the problems and a high grade is easy
I have never had to withdraw from a class in the three years at this school until this one. Horrible class. I didn't learn anything. No matter how hard you study the tests are impossible to do well on. Do not take this professor if you want to pass this course. He makes it way too difficult. Your only grades are 2 tests and a final.
Beware!!!!! never and I mean never take this prof!!!!!!
He didn't really care if you failed or not. When I got my grade back he just looked at me and said "mmm not good"
Best finance professor at UNCC. I had him for FINN 2120, 3221, and 3225. You will learn allot but if you are not an A student do yourself a favor and take something else. Only advice, RECORD HIS CLASES and use that to study.
Not good, not bad. Hard for most, though. I'm a finance nerd, so the class wasn't hard for me. He goes really fast. Most of your grade will be your 3 exam scores. You got 10 bonus points on your final grade for perfect attendance, or five points if you only missed one class. Exams were 25 MC questions each.
Avoid! Take anyone else! He talks entirely too fast, can be degrading, and gives a ridiculous Tiger Woods example every class. Pay attention to things he says to take 5 minutes to look at, because it will probably be on the exam!
If you came to college to learn and be challenged, then take him. His upper level courses are excellent. He is crystal clear in his expectations, and if you actually put in time for the class you will learn a lot and come out okay. If you can't pass his 3120 class, then business may not be for you.
According to this professor Everything is INTUITIVE, everything is EASY, everything is SIMPLE. Worst professor on the planet. Run for the hills. If you ask a question he'll look at you like you're an idiot. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Do not take if you want to pass this course!
Seriously, do not take Professor Plath. You will hate finance, even if you're a finance major. He only has 3 tests: midterm 1, midterm 2, and the final. He will give you 10 extra credit pts for perfect attendance, which means you have to hear his monotonous voice for 14 weeks straight. Good luck getting higher than a C.
If you are willing to spend at least 4-5 hours outside of class every week listening to his lecture and reading his article you'll be okay. Would honestly say just avoid Finn 3125 and his Banking course but great for FINN 3120.
Here's what to do if you have Dr. Plath: read and do the practice problems BEFORE class so you're not lost. Go to his office for help bc he's very nice when it's 1-on-1. Tests were hard, and the final was ridiculous, so study your tail off and find online practice tests to help you. 10pts EC on FINAL grade for perfect attendance. You'll need it.
He know's his stuff, but he speaks really fast. Lectures from the book- you must be able to write really fast.
I recommend Plath if you are serious about your business future and want to learn a lot of tips outside of the subject. His teaching is quick & to the point. To be able to keep up with him you need to work problems almost daily. He is very smart, just work hard and you'll enjoy the class.
Grade is 3 tests plus up to 10 e.c. points for attendance. You MUST do the homework- exams look just like them. He goes REALLY FAST, but if you write down everything on the board then go read it in the book, you'll be okay. If you can't keep up, you're not going pass upper level classes. Pay attention and you can learn a lot from this man.
Absolute worst teacher I've had at UNCC, I'm usually an A/B student and I ended up getting a D in his class. He doesn't teach, he just reiterates the text book in a confusing and jumbled manner. If you're not someone who is able to teach yourself the entire class on your own good luck. Does't seem to care about his students, not very approachable.
Boring, but fairly easy. Gives 10 points EC on final grade average for attendance and a cheat sheet for each test. Do the HW problems he tells you to and figure out your financial calculator and then the hardest part about the class is sitting through it.
If you follow the syllabus and do the optional homework everyday, youll be well prepared. If you study the entire chapter's material the week before the test, you'll fail miserably. Stay on top of the work.
I'm a finance major and this professor made me hate it. The tests are ridiculous and start studying for the final the first day of class. Very arrogant and bland. Does not care at all about his students. He's a genius but looks down on everyone else.
Where do I begin? Literally my least favorite teacher at UNCC. He rambles on so quickly you can't write anything down. Record the lecture if you have to. Only 3 tests. The first 2 tests are hard, the final seems like a Goldman Sachs analyst could barely do it. Work the problems out. A lot.
this man is a horrible professor. literally remained in the class ONLY because if you're there when he does clickers 100% of the time, he will add 10 points to your overall grade. Better get that book because it will be your saving grace. I'd be lost without it. Test are difficult and he doesn't prepare you very well.
if you can get through this class with an A, you deserve a finance degree
You might be looking at classes to add right now and your looking at Plath TR or MW at 3:30 and there is a WF 8:00 or a Thurs night 6:30. TAKE THE BAD TIME NOT PLATH. He is the hardest professor I've had so far at UNCC. The tests are impossible even if you study. He gives no study guide and you pretty much are on your own for studying. Don't do it
First thing, GO TO EVERY SINGLE CLASS. Only way to pass considering you receive 10 pts on your FINAL grade if you attend every session. Second, your grade only consists of 3 test grades. First 2 tests have 25 questions and the final has 50 questions. Each test gets harder and harder. Study the book, do the hw, & make a good cheat sheet (he allows).
Plath is an absolute genius professor, hands down learned the most from his courses than any of my other finance courses combined. He is an extremely difficult professor and if you take this class, be ready to record lectures and give up your social life. The effort required to pass is extraordinary, this is not an easy class by any means.
If you truly care about the field of finance you will challenge yourself. As a graduating senior in the field of finance there hasn't been one class that I felt was difficult and made you apply yourself. Dr. Plath changed my mind when i took institutions and markets. Take class if you wanna learn. Record lectures. Talk about the material to study.
I am a 3.9 student and I am not sure if I will pass this class or not! First day in class he said, most of u graduate with a degree in Finn and know nothing about Finn. It's very true because my knowledge about Finanace before this class and after changed dramatically. The recorder will be your new best friend but u will learn things to use 4 life
DO NOT take Plath. Im a non-finance major and this class was terrible. He teaches the entire class like your reviewing and is not helpful what so ever. If you ask him questions he looks at you like your stupid. Only good thing is 10 points to your final grade if you don't miss a day. Thats the only thing that helped me get a B in the class
If one is interested in banking this is a wonderful class. However, this class is not easy. Attending every class, recording every lecture, and reading the assigned material is vital to being successful in this course. The good news is Dr. Plath knows his stuff and his students will too with adequate studying. He's also a fair person.
So show up to class because you'll need that 10 points for perfect attendance. Do a lot of homework because the lectures dont help at all. Practice outside and thats the only way to pass and make a C.
Being a successful college graduate with more knowledge than your competition is the goal of any business major. Taking Plath's classes is extremely difficult but you will be more prepared than all of your peers if you can succeed. He will push his students, he will fail the unworthy, and only true champions will remain at the end of the semester.
Dr. Plath was a great professor. The poor ratings on here are most likely from those that didn't show up to class or played on their phones during lectures. He is extremely fair and willing to explain anything if you just ask. He's a bit intimidating at first but give him a chance. He's actually a really nice guy that wants his students to do well.
People who don't like Dr. Plath are probably failing miserably. If you do not have an interest in finance outside of class, don't even bother trying. Our class started with like 45 people, and there were 10 remaining by the final. He describes that as "typical". If you actually care you'll learn a ton. Best professor at UNCC. Good luck.
Plath is the most useless prof at this school. Everything is easy to him and everything takes "just a few IQ points to learn". He rambles on about finance, no power points or notes to follow. Had to take him twice, and I seriously regretted it the 2nd time. Expect to spend 20hrs a week if you want an A. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
DO NOT TAKE PLATH. He is the worst. He spends most of thee time telling you why it should be easy and what he is going to teach you, but hardly gets around to actually teaching and when he does its hard to follow. There are only 3 grades in this class which are 3 test each worth 33 points so if you do bad on one say goodbye to your grade.
To do well in this class do the following: Write down everything he says, record the lecture, go over the lecture and fill in missing parts of your notes, do the book problems he assigns, study book problems and clicker questions for exams. 3 tough exams, but 10 extra points added if you attend every class. You have to put in the work for the grade
Do not take his class if you don't need to. He's extremely rude and everything is "easy" to him. He speaks to the class in a condescending tone and makes you feel like you're dumb. He also doesn't give you any kind of hope if you're struggling in the class. He makes sure to tell you you'll fail and he'll see you next semester.
This is a college finance course. It isn't supposed to be easy. He's preparing you for the real world & if you put in the time and are engaged in class he's actually extremely friendly. If you would rather talk & text through class, don't take him. You will need to be both physically and mentally present. I learned a lot and am taking him again!
You get the grade you earn, and you learn what you study in this class. He's dedicated to making sure you know what you need to know. I learned more in this class than in any other 2-3 classes in other disciplines. If you want to work in the banking industry, this is the guy to listen to.
Dr. Plath is a great professor. The questions he uses on the exam are all questions from the notes, the clicker questions, and the homework questions with different numbers. And he lets you use a cheat sheet on the exams. So if he makes you feel dumb then you probably are and you have no business taking a finance course anyway.
3 Exam Grades are your only grades, so obviously each test is a third of your final grade. That said, this is a difficult class. Dr. Plath makes you work for your grade. So if you take him, get ready to work, but it's not impossible.
Dr. Plath's courses I took are the in which I learned the most. He wants to see that you are thinking beyond what he teaches ( think secondary and tertiary derivatives). I noticed that students that had worked for a few yrs before college outperformed ( maturity is required). An easy grade is not available, but that is the real world you experience
Professor Plath is a very knowledgeable professor with a lot of experience. His lectures go at a quick pace and he offers bonus points for attendance which is essential to help pass this class. Tests are quite challenging (especially #2), study your notes rigorously (no power points) and you will have a fighting chance.
Dr Plath is a smart guy and going to his lectures youll learn a lot about finance. That being said, he likes to fly through material and it sometimes made things harder than it needed to be. Just show up to every class (10 bonus points) and practice the HW and clicker problems, and understand the main conceptual things, and you should be okay.
He has no notes or power points for the class, just lecturing. The only 3 tests. The first two are 25 questions and the last test is a non cumulative 50 question exam, all multiple choice. To pass you HAVE to read the book and do the homework AND do extra homework on your own and know how to do the clicker questions . The final was not bad
Very difficult class. He would come in every day and just start lecturing as he was walking in the door. He moves very fast and makes it hard to keep up. He doesn't post slides online so you can go back and review the material. I went to tutoring, read the book, and went to every class and still got a C. Very difficult.
Dr. Plath is tough and he has a very old school teaching style. He throws so much information at you and you see what sticks. If you want to get into banking his class is a must. Tests are not hard if you record his lectures and re listen to them to fill in the gaps in your notes. You really have to put in the time to be successful in his class.
