Great instructor and great class. Adobe Photoshop is not easy believe me. He says it will really take 2 years of just making a hobby out of it to really feel comfortable with it, and I believe him. Other instructors think it should be a 2 hour class. They are soooo right..... ;-}
Tony is an amazing teacher. Lots of knowledge, and he's willing to take the time to help you learn. Definitely get him for PC Hardware 2.
Tony is terrible. He is an awful instructor. He's long winded...
Great class and teacher. I thought I knew a lot about computers, but Tony taught me much more. The written tests are kind of hard, but the hands on tests are fun.
Great class and teacher. I thought I knew a lot about computers, but Tony taught me much more. The written tests are kind of hard, but the hands on tests are fun.
Tony was great for photoshop. It's a hard thing to learn on your own but he made even the super hard parts ez to understand. I've taken photoshop from the art dept, and tony is way better at explaining than any of the art teachers.
I've had classes at WSU and Eastern, and Mr. Sako is the best ever. I was soooo confused by Photoshop, but he made it all very clear and easy. He just needs to add ad Illustrator class too!
I've been making web pages for 5 years and thought I knew a lot. I had classes in high school, but Mr. Sako showed me so much more, and my web sites are wayyy better now. He's a great teacher, but watch out cuz the tests can be hard. He gives take home tests and if you haven't been keeping up you might get slammed.
I'm at wazzu now, and wish I had Tony again. I learned way more from him than I am now. WSU says they world class face to face, but CBC was WAAYYY better, specialy Tony.
I know how to build web pages (at least I thought I did), but CSS and JavaScript were really confusing. Mr. Sako knows this inside and out, and showed us the "right way" and easy way to use them. Take this cass if you can.
One of the two best professors at CBC. All the classes of Tony's are taught the same.
I build my own computers and know lots. I knew most of the stuff in this class, but their was some that was new to me. Good teacher, way beter than hardware 1
I had photoshop for a couple of years but could hardly use it. Tony taught me how to use it and now I can do almos anything. He teaches in a way that makes it easy to understand and fun. I took a photoshop class from tha art dept and learned nothing. Take it from Tony if you can!
The guy ROCKS. You wont find anyone who knows this s**t better, and hes a great teacher 2. The only problem is this is a coomunity colege so you only get 2 years wit him.
This class was f'n great. I was worried cus the first hardware class sucked. Tony made this class fun and intresting. And remember, pop cans are made out of aluminum, not tin!
This class was so awsome that I changed my mind about careers. Making web pages is so much better then networking, you can make cool stuff and then see it right away. Mr Sako knows this inside and out and he helped me a lot. One of the best teachers I have ever had
I am the web master at our company and I thought I knew how to make web pages. I tried CSS but it seemed to hard. Prof Sako showed me how to do use CSS the right way, and now my job is so much easier. This class has paid for itself 100 times over. Prof Sako knows this stuff and is a great teacher.
i went from CBC to wazzu tc. the classes and profs at cbc are so much better and tony is one of the best.
I moved on from CBC to WSU and have had a lot of different profs. Most of the profs at WSU *think* they know it all when they really dont. Tony taught us a ton, but acts like a normal guy. Take his class if you can! But pay attention and do the labs or the tests will be hard.
I already was doing web pages 4 years so HTML was easy. Prof Sako not only knows HTML, he knows how 2 use it the right way and use CSS the right way. I tried CSS on my own but it was 2 hard. Prof Sako made it easy and my pages are totally better. The JavaScript was hard cuz I don't now how 2 program so good. But Prof Sako made it real clear.
he is totally awesome! nice to have someone who has real world experience to guide. helped me with a lot of problems that i couldn't find answers on internet
Tony is both funny and gulible. I enjoy his class and hope to have him again. He helps when you ask and provides all the info you need to succeed. Hopefully he watches out for those red eyed students in the future *grin*
There arent many classes that I look forward 2 attending, but I always look forward to class with Tony. The classes are not really lectures. And I am learning 2 much when we get to fix the old computers.
Great guy. Super helpful and really knows his XHTML. Nice 2 have a teacher who also works with his stuff. And he may b funny in a nerdy way.
I wish he taught more classes, especially the firt hard ware class. I learn more from him almost everyday then I do listening to most of my other teachers cuz they just read out of the book. We have lots of discussion instead of lecture, and lots of hands on fun. And he treats you with respect and acts like a normal human.
I learned a lot from him, and he helped me find an AWESOME job. He was (and probably still is) a great teacher and great person.
Fun and funny guy. Learned a lot.
Professor Sako should be a role model for every college instructor. He obviously knows his subjects, Photoshop in this case, but can present the material in a way that makes it easy to understand. And the exercises help you learn more, they're not just busy work. And best of all, now I LOVE the pen tool! And you will too if you take his class.
This class was a little hard because I'm not an artist. But Tony made it fun and interesting, and I love using Flash. And, I even made a fun Flash game for my kids to play! The class is very real world. I mean your grade is based on projects, not tests where you have to memorize a bunch of useless facts.
I don't really like UNIX, but Tony was a good teacher. Plus he made me realize that this is a good job skill, and since he works with it, had a good perspective on what you REALLY need to know. The tests were hard but they were take home and open book so I got a good grade.
This class was super fun. I had PhotoShop in hi school, but we just messed around. Mr. Sako showed us how to do things the right way, and now I can make it do what I want. Mr. S is super helpful and pretty funny if you talk to him.
Great great teacher and super nice guy. He will teach you Photoshop. And he help me get the perfect job.
I learned so much in this class. Tony is a great teacher. Plus he works with web stuff all the time so he has great advice for real world situations. The books stinks though, it has way too much CSS mixed in which is pretty confusing. It's optional so don't buy it!
Excellent. What every college prof should be.
great guy. fun class.
great teacher!
This guy is great. Nice to have a prof who knows what he's talkin about and can also teach.
Take this class if you want to learn photo shop. And for sure take it before any design classes frmo the art dept. Tony is a great teacher and you will get to work on some fun projects.
Tony was excellent. He has a great teaching style AND he helped me and a bunch of others get jobs. I'm at WSU-TC now and not learning nearly as much.
Class was great. One of a handful of classes that I never wanted to skip. Tests are take home and open note. Some of the questions are hard, but if you pay attention he tells the answers in class. Working on computers was super fun. Lots of hands on!
The class is based on projects, not tests. Just turn them in an you will get a good grade. Great way to learn photoshop. Good teacher
The book is useless. Don't buy it. Take home tests that are easy if you come to class. Great teacher, really knows his stuff. Need more like him.
Nice to really learn about hardware after learning nothing in CS109. Class is super fun and Mr. Sako is a fantastic teacher. Hes 1 of the best ever.
class was fantstic. learned alot.
Can't say enough about Tony. I would've dropped out, except he got me an internship. His classes are all great. He always does great reviews, so if you miss a few you can catch up.
ASP rocks for making web sites, glad I learned it. Sako was awesome teacher.
I graduated a 1.5 years ago and have been working since (in a job that TOny helped me get.) Looking back, it was amazing how much he taught me not just about Web design, but also about working in the real world. There is not a better teacher anywhere.
Tony did a great job teaching a hard subject like XML. I needed to know it for my job but was strugling trying to figure it out by myslef. Tony has a talent for cutting through the nonsense and teaching just what you need to know. Great teacher. Wish we could hire him away for our company.
This is a great class! I love ASP and it's made web design so fun. Tony is a great teacher and great guy. The only problem with this class is that it's only 1 quarter.
fun class. just do the projects and you will get a good grade. teacher is great
Great teacher.
I build computers on the side so I know a lot. But Tony really helped fill in stuff I didn't know yet. And he helped me a get a great job. Great guy and great class.
Tony warned us that XML wasn't as much fun as the other web publishing classes and he was right. This class is work. But I'm glad I took it from Tony because we use XML all the time at my job. He's a great teacher.
I'm working now, thanks to a job Tony helped me get, and going to WSU-TC. All my CBC classes were better then here at WSU and Tony's were the best. Hey Tony is that book done yet? Where's my autographd copy? *grin*
fun class learned a lot.
I had a class from Tony years ago and I thought I'd come back hear and give him a shout out. He was one of the best teachers ever had and the class was more like getting together with friends. We had fun, but he also taught us lots about Photoshop. I went to OSU after CBC and never had a teacher as good as Tony again.
great class. great teacher. i'm still learning phosotshop cuz like mr. sako says theres lots in it. this class really taught me the basics. junk that confused me b4 is now ez. grade is from projects. not tests.
I didnt need this class for my degree but Im glad I took it anyway. Css is great for web pages. The javascript was a litle hard, but the way tony teaches it made it easer. you wont need the book.
Tony is fantastic. ASP is amazing and fun. Take a database class before you take ASP. tony got me a job after this class. he is a good man.
best teacher ever.you will get a good grade if you just do the projects.the projects are super fun.i really liked making the games.wonder y all classes not like this.
the BEST teacher yet. Need more like him. Knows his stuff and knows how to teach. Tests are ez if you do the assignments. But if you like web then it will be fun anyway.
This class was good except for one guy who didn't get it and slowed the whole class down. Prof. Sako did a good job and i learned a lot that helped me with my job and with some problems on my home systems. The tests are take home and open book, but a couple of the questions are pretty hard if you don't pay attention in class.
I would definetly recomend proffesor sako. He is an amazing teacher. He gives you ample opportunities to succeed in his class. Not to mention he tells you EXACTLY what you have to do to get specifc grades. He keeps the class interesting with lots of tips on avoiding real world problems. He not one of those boring teachers who reads the book to you.
He is the best teacher. I highly reccomend him. He is one of the nicest guy. Only one who asked me what *I* want to do with my life when planning classes. Found several possible jobs for many in our class, and kept helping me until I got a great job. His classes are all fun and relaxd. Take him if you get a chance.
Mr Sako was a good teacher. Made it easy to learn. Did lot of review. Made it ok when I missed many class. Projects were fun.
He is a man that will find a solution if you have a problem, very easy to talk to and he knows what he is talking about.
This was the best class i've ever taken!! The class was super easy. 3 tests which were very easy if you paid attention and did the homework. He makes the class interesting and fun, so I recommend going. Just don't sit by the crabby old guy! :)
loved his teaching style. plenty of opportunity to get an A.
tony is the best. had this class in high school but really learned to use it from tony. grade is easy if you do the projects.
great to have a teacher who REALLY knows what hes doing. the book is almost worthless do NOT buy. Tony makes class fun, but it can be a little boring if people ask stupid questions. Tests are easy if you do the homework and come to class.
fun and interesting class
I loved this class. Even though I thouight I knew a lot about computers Mr Sako taught me even more. And the class was super fun.
Probably the best teacher I've ever had. Just go to class and you should not have a problem getting a B, study a little guaranteed an A. Reading isn't really needed, just go to lecture. Make sure you sit by someone halfway smart cuz you do a lot of team assignments.
Great Teacher! All u need is the workbook and youll b good! He is one of the BEST teachers ive had he loves what he does! Gives lessons n examples to everythin so u remember for the test! Take this class u will have fun n never forget him!
Very helpful teacher. He was very clear about what he expected from his students. I would recommend this teacher to anyone. He is a very interesting teacher overall.
my favorite professor. funny, insightful lectures; tests straightforward; outside of class he is very accessible and helpful. the class is very interesting and the material will help you "in the real world."
down to earth and polite, more like a normal person than some puffed up teacher. his concern for students is unrivaled among any other professors i have had. helped many of us find good jobs. class is great if you want to leanr linux/unix. tony obviously knows linux very well. tests are pretty easy if you go to class and do the assignments.
this class was extra fun, but i love photoshop. tony is a great teacher, and showed us many new and amazing things. easy to get a good grade if you do the projects. just wish he would teach more photoshop or illustrator.
Great teacher i highly recommend it. Knows his material, very helpful when you have any problems. Great sense of humor, almost impossible to be bored in his classes. You will learn css and have fun at the same time. His tests are okay easy if you study for it.
I have read the other comments, typical young people. Sure he is easy, but that is not the reason to take his class. You NEED TO LEARN not show up and have a good time! Tony is a great teacher. He is funny, and knows web design very well. He does such a good job teaching that it just seems easy. You will enjoy his class.
Not only is he an amazing professor & is extremely helpful, but he is just an amazing person! He's so funny and such a sweet person with a good heart. He made me look foward to actualy going to school. Def take him if u have a chance to. if u dont take him, you are missing out!
Tony is a great teacher. Flash is super fun, and he showed us how to make great movies. He spent extra time with anyone who needed it. The projects are fun, so getting a good grade is easy. The only problem is once you start working on yuor game you will spend to much time playing, even though tony warns you not to! highly recommend!
I had Prof Sako for this class last year. He warned us it woudldn't be as fun as the other web publishing classes and he was right. But I use XML at my job now and I'm sure glad I took the class. Like everyone else says Tony is a great teacher and makes sense out of even the most complcated material.
He is the best professor I have ever had. He is clear, organized, and really knows PhotoShop. The projects are fair and not too hard if you keep in mind what they are for.
I learned to make web pages in hi school and thought I knew what I was doing. I am sooo glad that I took this class from Tony. I learned so much about CSS and web design from him. Plus he made the class really fun. Great to have a teacher who knows his subject and has worked with it. Need more like him.
Prof. Sako is one of the nicest professors I have and seems to care the most about how we do. The class isn't hard and he makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. Explains why we do things rather than just the steps to take
Loves his job and it shows. Super helpful to have someone who obviously has worked with UNIX. Tests are not bad if you come to class and do the lab exercises.
Awesome teacher, he loves to teach about web development and you can tell the first day of class. He's completely knowledgeable in every aspect of the web publishing, and makes sure you actually learn the material. Just go to class, pay attention, and you'll get an A.
I transferred back from Eastern and also taken classes at WSU-TC, and tony is the best teacher I've had anywhere. He knows his stuff and finds ways to explain hard subjects in ways that make them easy to understand. Great teacher and great guy. Helped many of us find good jobs.
By far the best professor I have encountered in college. Aside from learning I was able to actually appreciate and enjoy the class.
Mr. Sako is the best teacher. I love his teaching style. He doesn't just read from the book. His test are take home and hard if you don't go to class. But he also gives you ton of extra credits to make up bad grades and the final is optional. I learned more from him than any other teacher. Wonder why all teachers aren't more like him.
The BEST!
I'm retired and have a PhD but returned to college to learn to make web pages. I've read many of Tony's ratings and agree that he's a good teacher, but not that he's easy. Tony's talent is that he teaches so well that it just makes learning easy. I've seen many teachers, and I believe that you will look a long time to find one better than Tony.
Really excellent class!!!! Tony is a great guy. Very interesting and the one class that I actually really just enjoy going to! Only problem is that the hour ends too soon!
This teacher is awesome!!! I never had a class where learned so much and had this much fun. Did a good bit of work, but only because i wanted to. Take the class and youll see what i mean.
Best teacher ever! He's nice, he understands the pressures of a student so he is very accommodating, and helpful.I think everyone should take his class if you want to learn Photoshop. Especially before you take any Art Design classes, cuz they just expect you to know it.
Makes the class relevant to the real world and to real web problems, not just simple text book solutions. Knows his browsers and his code. Very interesting lectures. GREAT professor. I wish all of them were like this and i would not hesitate to recommend Tony as a profesor
What a teacher!!! hes one of a kind. Great. highly recommended.
Mr. Sako is a great teacher! He makes going to class fun and interesting! Plus he helped me find a great internship. I was going to have to quit school to work, but now I can do both. Can't say enough good things about Mr. Sako.
Great to have a teacher who has some real world experience but is also able to teach. Photoshop can be tricky and even difficult, but after Tony showed us what was going on it all makes sense. Just wish he taught more! Take him if you can, you won't regret it.
What a fun class and great instructor. I kind of knew this stuff was there, but Tony really helped me learn it. I use it all the time at home, and have impressed my boss with the photo and video stuff at work.
I agree w the other raters. Tony is a great teacher. The things I learned in his class helped me get a great job. Take him if you have a chance and I guarantee you will not regret it.
great teacher and super great class. i thought i knew a lot about making web pages before, but i learned so much in this class. asp is great! grade is based mainly on projects, and tony helped me build a web site that is phenomenal.
I've taken almost every class I can w Tony and this one was just as good as the rest. I have a project at work that uses XML and now I totally understand it! The class is easy if you keep up.
Easy class. He gives the answers to the take home test through out class, so as long as you show up and take notes you should pass with no problem. However this class needs to be updated, this class was suppose to prepare students to take the A+ exam but it does not come close to doing that.
Great!
Tony is a passionate teacher who knows a lot about computers. However the lab manual for his HTML class is wrong, misprinted, and out of date. He piles on work at the end of the quarter and it's unclear what he wants from his students a lot of the time
Best instructor ive ever had. He's clear about everything he says, funny guy, his class makes you want to show up and learn more. CS 123 is easy if you have a steady schedule and get everything done as it should and not at the last minute. I most importantly loved the hands on work. Thank you Tony!
Take Tony if you are passionate about web design and computers, and want to have fun in this class. How much you learn will simply depend on how much you participate. You could pick his brain and learn everything you could imagine about the subject. He will unstress you. Has good class discussions.
I thought I knew photoshop from art classes. But Mr. Sako had a super organized way to learn the important concepts. I understand it so much better now, and can really use it. You do fun projects, and Mr. Sako is super helpful and funny.
His videos made this class what every online class should be. They were funny and entertaining and still helped you learn unix. Tony is super smart and super helpful.
Mr Sako skipped his lunch once each week to help us in lab. His videos are good the labsim videos not so much. Watch the videos and do the work and you will pass easy. Go to lab if you really want to learn hardware.
Mr. Sako is an enjoyable teacher. He engages well with students, isn't distant or incomprehensible when explaining things, and is a fun guy, quite fair in his grading and assignments. I didn't get the opportunity to take a very difficult class from him, but I enjoyed my time in his class.
You will learn the basics of HTML and web design. Plus Sako has worked in this field so he has all kinds of good tips he passes on. The tests are easy of you do the homework. Learned a lot
Best online class I've taken at CBC. Sako made tons of videos explaining unix that are super helpful and sometimes even funny. Theres a lot of work, but it all helped me learn unix.
The class is an online class with some optional hands on labs instead of simulated online ones. The instructor makes it easier with great helpful videos that cover what the textbook program does not cover well.
Even though class is online Sako provided lots of hands on work. Fun and interesting. Not like other classes just using Labsim or sleeping thru powerpoints. His vidoes are extremely helpful and sometimes funny. Wish he taught more classes. Tests are hard, but I got most of the answers from class videos or doing the work.
This class has lots of confusing stuff. Mr Sako found ways to explain everything so we could understand an I learned a lot. Tests are hard but Sako gives you the questions before so you can work out answers before. Just need him to teach more classes.
This is a tough subject, but Sako makes it into plain english so anyone can learn it. Was fraid of class but he made it good and fun.
Tough but fair, great lectures. Explains things well
I took his computer security class, and most of it was good. The only thing I would say as a negative is that there were no pre-recorded lectures, and I feel I could have learned more if those were present.
Computer Forensics is a lot of fun. Videos are explained very well. It's important to watch all of the videos he has because he'll have questions on the exam that are directly from the video, and the ONLY way you'd get it right is if you watch them. He makes it worth your while! Humor is applied in learning, and any errors/mistakes are extra credit
Provides lectures on each of the topics, but recommends watching them and taking notes. Only has two tests and your grade is not weighted like other classes. I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot about Linux and Unix. The lab manuals are great exercises for practice, I would recommend starting them early because they can be kinda long.
The class was very interesting and fun to take. Lots of videos that cover content to help guide you. The grade was based on tests only. Make sure you watch the videos to help you with the tests. It's pretty well organized in CANVAS.
This class covers a lot which could make it hard. Sako let us know what was important, and how to relate it to our own computers and lives. This made it all easier to understand. He is funny and entertaining makes it easier to get
Sako is A W E S O M E ! If you genuinely want to learn the art of cyber security I highly recommend Sako. He is incredibly knowledgeable on a VAST variety of subjects in cyber security including the programming aspect. My only complaint was that the course (while still reasonably hard) felt catered to students who were having trouble learning.
This is the hardest class in the program with complex theory but Prof Sako explained things in ways I could understand. He gives you all his notes. He writes some funny and entertaining things. Most of all he is a great teacher and I learned a lot. He gives you all the test questions at the start of class which makes them easier.
Tony Sako is 1 of 2 staple Professors at Columbia Basin College alongside of Debbie Wolf. If you are new at CBC or considering their CS or CSIA program - Go out of your way to involve this professor in as many classes as possible. It won't ever be a Free A, but it will always be everything you need to know before you confidently move forward.
Professor Sako makes this tough subject understandable. His clear explanations and practice tests help you prepare. Definitely take his classes - the work is challenging but he's a great teacher. Using tools like unstuck study and the free textbook made this manageable.
I'm really sad to say Tony is retiring soon. I was one of his only students to come to class (attendance wasn't mandatory) and I got a lot of 1 on 1 time with him. He articulates his points really well and you can see the passion in his work. I wish I had more time with him as a teacher. Until then, I'll take as many of his courses as I can.
Different than most profs, more real world. Given all test questions at start of class! Sako made the material very interesting and made me think about this as a career. Sako is very helpful and answered all my questions and gave good guidance. Sorry he is retiring. He's the best.
great explanations for hard concepts in words i could understand. sako answered my questions and was patient when i needed more help
Hardworking and puts together very educational course material You know he loves what he does from his dedication to these course material
