He shows a lot of enthusiasm for the subject. It's a fun classroom atmosphere and you also learn a lot. Just don't miss a class or turn in an assignment late because he will take off points.

WONDERFUL teacher. He is great. I was deathly afraid of taking speech but by the end of this class he made me feel less stressed about speeking in front of people. He made me feel confident in my speeches. He is a wonderful teacher and if I ever need to take a speech class again I would take him.

Very easy grading, Take home tests, have a crap-happens papre if you do not have time to get an assignment done, so you can turn it in late w/out penalty. He's funny and entertaining. He's the idea speech teacher.

The best professor I have had by far! I hate making speeches but I waould take his class all over again. Really funny and has a passion for what he does. Assignments are also very interesting. Easy going, our group project was what most teachers would call inappropriate. He thought it was fun.

Mr. Smith is very passionate about communication. He definitly gives you work, but it is not too hard. The speeches dont count too much to your overall grade. He also gives take home quizes. He is very entertaining and funny. I would take this teacher again!

Awsome teacher. Everyone feels like they are apart of his class and he leaves no one singled out. Best part of his classes is no matter what, we leave his class with a smile. This is my second time taking this class after failing the first time. I was apprehensive about taking it again but Mr. Smith makes you comfortable. Great class! I'm not comfortable speaking in public (and still don't like it) but Mr. Smith made this subject do-able for me. My final grade was an A. This class is NOT a no-brainer and requires effort. Mr. Smith is fair and let's you know EXACTLY what's expected. Who could want more?

By far, one of the best professors I've had to date. He is clear, concise, and extemely animated in his teachings. He makes the class interesting, and is always well prepared. I wasn't interested in public speach because it terrified me! Mr. Smith's relaxed atmosphere and down-to-earth realism gave the classroom setting as really relaxed. If you screwed up, you just proved you were human. He always took the time to answer any question-no matter how stupid or how many times he had to repeat himself. I loved This class!

What can I say about Mr Smith that hasn't already been said? All around great guy, very passionate about his subject, a clear quality in many great professors, thanks for the great class!

Enthusiastic Flare! Not often is it exciting to go to school on a Monday Night for 2.5 hours after 9-11 hours at work. Mr. Smith makes it worth it, even after a long Monday at work. Fair yet demanding. Yes I had to use my "Crap Happens" sheet. If you take his class, you will love it. Hopefully, you won't have to use the crap happens sheet.

He's Freakin' awsome. dont pass up the chance to take his class!! He used to be a DJ for wedings so he sounds like a radio host. It's not hard to pay attention at all. Very funny all the time. He is awesome! He lays it all out for you and always encourages you to do better. His tests are straight from his lectures. The questions are the exact examples he gives in class so write them all down and you'll ace the first test is open notes. Just show up and you'll get points. How awesome is that? Amazing teacher. Takes a subject most students are nervous or uneasy about, and makes it interesting and fun by being humorous and fun. Not a hard class, but not an easy one, you will have to do your work to earn your grade, but you'll have a fun time doing so.

Amazing teacher. I was not happy about having to take speech AT ALL. It is not my strong subject. His classes are very relaxed and you only have to do four easy speeches and one is in a group. I would have never passed speech had I not had Smith as a teacher!

Tony Smith is one of the best teachers I have ever had throughout high school and college. Very enthusiastic, LOVES what he does, and is extremely helpful. Dr. Smith is an amazing professor! He has many ways of keeping his student interested in the subject that he has a lot of passion for. the speeches are fun and he makes the course very easy. The BEST speech communication teacher I have ever met! I took his class on campus and am very happy with all the help he gave and what I recieved out of this class. Easiest class ever! He talks a lot, but doesn't make you do a speech until six weeks into the class because he wants to "ease" you into it. You write 4 assignments that have to be handwritten and like at least 50 words. You do about 3 speeches, two alone, one group, and a one minute improv at the end. Easy A

Best professor I've ever had!!!

Smith knows what he's talking about when it comes to communication and makes it almost impossible to fail. Although, almost every lesson he taught he supported with political examples mostly of his affiliation and opinion. Lectures are extremely long but assignments are easy. Attend, respect him, and do your speeches and you won't fail.

I am a TERRIBLE public speaker. All of the speeches I did made it obvious how nervous I was (stuttering and all). However, he was very helpful with feedback. Although most of my speeches ended up being B speeches, I still got an A from doing all of the assignments and having good attendance. Attendance really counts! WONDERFUL professor!

I've had a lot of teachersprofessors, and Prof Dr. Tony Smith PhD is the best one; by a mile. He is awesome, and he really makes it easy to give speeches. The reason I withdrew from my first semester of college, 12 years ago, was because I had a really bad anxiety attack on my first day of speech class, not even a speech giving day. Now I'm back.

Class is never ever boring during his lectures because he always makes us laugh. He's an easy grader and always willing to help. Only took 2 tests all semester- midterm and final.

Dr. Smith was awesome. Taking into consideration that public speaking is absolutely frightening to me, I really enjoyed his class. Attendance accounts for 25% of your grade, so make sure you go to class! He's not too tough of a grader. There is a midterm and final though and you'll have homework, but nothing too difficult. I highly recommend him!

This is the funniest teacher of all time. Make sure you follow guidelines and study, I got marked off on my speeches when the class voted mine the best all because I went over on time. Follow his directions and study what he tells you to study.

I took speech in my first semester of college and was really scared. Dr. Smith made it so much easier and less difficult than I thought it would be. There's only four speeches and the longest one is 4 minutes minimum. If you can take him please do! Also he provides scantrons for his tests and does not require you to buy a textbook!

He was a good teacher, very clear on the assignments and friendly to his students. I thought he was a little overrated from what everyone said about him but he wasn't bad by any means. No textbook required so that's a huge plus.

If you need a speech teacher who will grab your attention, keep you from feeling awkward in front of others and make you laugh, you need Mr. Smith. There was little to no homework, mostly basic speeches (a couple minutes at most). He doesn't expect you to be perfect, just able to express yourself in front of people without staring at your shoes.

Dr. Smith is a hilarious man. He loves his job and makes class so much fun. Work is easy, gives to the point feedback. Everyone should take him! Class filled up quick. If you fail this class you should drop out of college.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HIM! He is just all around one of the best professor's I've ever had. Whether you're a pro at speaking or riddled with anxiety about speaking he will make you feel comfortable, and make speaking as easy as pie. He genuinely cares about his students and it shows. LOVE HIM!

He is amazing! The tests are easy to pass if you follow along with the print out of the notes. He makes the class environment comfortable so its easier to give speeches.

I took professor Smith's class during the summer term and although we were short on time, Mr. Smith was great! His lectures were truly unique, he is very funny and gives chances for extra credit. Attendance is definitely mandatory if you wish to succeed on the midterm and final as well as receive points for attendance.

Prof Smith is such a nice man. The only hard part of this class is actually giving the public speeches, especially if you hate public speaking like me. The content is pretty boring and common sense. Easy A if show up and give your speeches.

I was not looking forward to speech, but after Prof. Smith's class, I would take it all over again. You do not have to dress up and your speeches are not overly formal. He focuses on what really matters, improving your public speaking. He cares about his students and does a great job at creating an inviting and comfortable environment, even online.

Loved his class. It is a lecture class so it can get a bit boring, but he tries to make it interesting by making lots of jokes, sharing personal stories and keeping the content relevant. Easy A class as long as you show up/do the work. Even if you dont like public speaking, you should do well if you listen to his advice.

Took an online speech class with Professor Smith. The curriculum was heavy but easy if you followed along. Professor Smith was accessible and quick to reply which was essential for an online class. His extra credits assignments can bring you up a grade level if you need them or if you fall short.

Tony is THE man for speech class. The class could not be easier than it is. Barely any assignments, three or four speeches the whole semester, and his lectures are funny. Very caring guy. I learned a lot from this class. Take it on live online it's easier.

Dr. Smith was an inspirational professor. He really cares about his class and wants us to do well in life. Ive learnt a lot in his public speaking class, and am sad it ended so fast!

I took SPC1017 online with professor Smith and the class was extremely easy. There are two video projects that you must do very easy however, he is critical on grading but as long as you follow the instructions you will be ok. He lays all instructions out for you and any questions he is there to answer. I would take classes with him again.

Tony is the GOAT for the Communications faculty. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I hate speaking in front of people, but Tony made it bearable. He makes hilarious jokes in class to get you to understand the concepts of speech and public speaking. I'm taking him for Public Speaking cause I'm getting my AA degree next semester.

I hate public speaking, and I hate it even more when work takes up most of your time and you never have enough time to study or prepare. I still ended up with an A so I like to think this professor is an easy grader and understands life's challenges. He responds quickly to emails and does what he can to help you pass. I recommend!

A very helpful and caring professor that will help you get over any fear of public speaking with his speeches that are easy to do and allow you to learn about the importance of public speaking and communication. His assignments are very easy and his midterm and final are both open note and he allows you to take it twice and the questions are easy.

I had the pleasure of having professor Smith last semester and I enjoyed every minute of his class. He is super funny, kind and knowledgeable! He's very passionate about what he does and he even made my cry one day in class because his passion was just so beautiful. I wish to have that kind of passion. I will never forget him and his class.

Gives the option to do speech videos instead of just over zoom to make you more comfortable. Take him if you can for speech, he makes it less daunting if you are scared. Tony Smith is AMAZING!! I love public speaking and he truly helped me improve my speaking with anyone. We had to do two speeches which were fun, however, I would recommend taking him in person and not online if you can. Recording speeches on your phone is a lot easier said than done. All of his assignments were meaningful and he was so sweet!

Phenomenal professor, very caring and helpful. Would take any class with this professor. Midterm and final are easy, with a handful of handwritten assignments, but plenty of time to do them. Speeches are speeches but that's the entirety of the class. Live online attendance was required but the professor and the class are great! Highly recommend.

I cannot sum up how much I loved this teacher and this class in one paragraph, I literally cried when it was over because of how emotionally attached I was to the teacher and the class, if you are considering taking him, then do it because he is the nicest, most caring professor ever. If I could take him again I definitely would.

The only book you'll need for his class is about $10 or less, it's a short book written by him and it's a fun/easy read.
