He is insane talks about all this crap teaches nothing about accounting. Doesnt check work dont even know how he comes up with grades. I got an A but I dreaded his class never gave back anyhthing till the end.

At first I was bombarded by the amount of reading that he assigns. However, he does not give any exams and the grades are based on essays and the Warren Project. He is the rebel of standard accounting and you will learn a lot about from his views.

Okay, you're going to work A LOT! You'll get stressed out, but like the comment below- blackboard, blackboard. BUT, you learn something you won't in other AIS classes. You learn about the intellects of acctg. world- able to carry conversations on it.
Tinker is one of the best accounting teacher I ever had.It's a hard class but u'll learn a lot.Just do all the comments,essays and waren project.Show him u spend time on it.If you are lazy u will not like his class.U learn a lot of acctng issues.he's nice
He has his own agenda, which is often interesting to listen to, but has nothing to do acc. For group essays just agree with his point of view, you'll get an A, as long as you hand in Warren and MYOB, you'll get a 10, don't stay up all night doing it.
Trust me take him! all u have to do is skim thru the readings and just put up comments don't stress overthe projects cuz he doesn't go thru them he just gives points even if you mess up on the project!You can even hand in an empty disc! just hand in somet

He is a great professor and makes the class very interesting. He makes you think for yourself by bringing in different perspectives and to learn not to take things on face-value. By the end of the day, I truely appreciate what he has taught me.

He gives a big project but you should get together with some kids and split the work load. He never checks the project. I handed in blank disks twice and got a good grade for both of them. Blackbaord stuff is important just post stuff and youre alright.
Having a big headache taking this clas!!!! Too much workload. Everytime after class, got so much stuff to read and write on the blackboard. I do all the projects myself, i am not sure if handing an empty disk is alright.HELL.
Well... pat attnetion to the blackboard. Do all of them and you will be fine. Learn a lot from this class. Gives real life examples which really get you to think out of the box. Really helpful and hihgly recommended
he is hard but a great teacher.gives out emails pertaining to current accounting info which are useful.nice british accent. Dont bother doing the warren case, he never checks it. so kids if u are struggling with it, just hand in something. dont sweat.

GIVES WAY TOO MUCH WORK!!!! I didn't even have time to finish the waren case which cost me alot of points. And just to clarify, he does check the waren case. Most of the people in class are completely lost. I would advise you to take any other professor besides him.

His grading is subjective. I worked my *ss off in his class, but i still didn't get a good grade. He said he didn't care whether the balances came out right but he contradicted himself. Avoid him at all cost. If you take a look at his registration, his class is always chosen last.

This professor is not bad at all. He does give a lot of work but is satisfied if sees you work on it, you dont have to be perfect. Do everything on the blackboard and work a little on Waren and MYOB project and i bet you will end up with a good grade. Takes attendence regularly and it is worth 10%.
He is an outstanding professor. A great lecturer, i was really dreading taking this class, but he takes his time to teach you the fundamentals. I'm really glad that i get to take him for my first acct course. Be prepared to take good notes and pay attention in his lectures.
Amazing professor. Knows EVERYTHING about the accounting profession. Enjoyable lectures. Enormous courseload.He gives almost as much work as Lustgarten.
Huge work load, but very intersting class. Tinker is great, funny, helpful and really cares about teaching and his students. I would take him again, despite the work load. One of the best teachers at Baruch
He is such a great professer. He teaches really well and give us a lot of real life examples. If you are accouting major, you gotta take him! He is the BEST!
There is A LOT of work in this class. He doesn't really teach you anything, you just read a lot of articles and do the Waren project yourself. One thing that really really annoyed me is that he doesn't return anything (and he keeps your floppy disks) so you have no idea what grade you're getting in the class.
He is the most self righteous teacher I have ever encountered. His ideas are one sided and generalized. Being that he is a teacher rather than in Industry he bases all of his alleged expertise on AICPA articles. Frankly you can get better information from other sources. I would not reccomend him at all.
He is really the best prof ever. He knows his material and teaches very well. Also, he knows how to make the class interesting. If you are accouting major, you gotta take him.
A very good professor, alot of work in the class but if you do all the work he assigns and start the Warren project and the MYOB when he indicates you will be fine, dont leave it for the last moment because you will regret it. Also post and hand everything on time and it you will get a good grade got an A in his class.

DO NOT take him, did you hear me: DO NOT. He doesn't care for students, gives A LOT of work. You will do Warren and MYOB on your own. He was sleeping whole semester and at the end everything was due at once. DO NOT take his class, AVOID.
what ever you do don't take his class. the course material and the course are two different things. he doesn't teach at all and you don't learn anything. you have to do so much work and the worst thing its all done on your own without help or any understanding. so don't take him!!!!

Boring, if you take his class. I recommend two things drink a lot of coffee, before you enter his class and also while you are in his class, becuase this man is so boring.
One of the most boring profs you can ever find. Make sure you have someone to chat to during class. Makes students write reviews of articles dating back to the 80's. Very irrelevant class. Warren is hard and takes a long time but he grades it leniently. Make sure you start it at least a week before the deadline.
um..am i in the right class? i'm learning human creativity, feudalism...and how humans are different from animals. Actually i dont mind learning em if he's not exremely boring. when he's actually teaching something relevant, the topic will last 2 months (like the enron/anderson case)
I think professor tinker is putting alot of effort to expose us to the real accounting world, and hopes that we will be able to apply what we learn in class to the world in the future. Although it could be somewhat boring, if you can't handle what he is teaching now, what are you going to have to say when you get to the real world?
This professor is giving you stupid assignments like doing summaries every night. It's just so dull and boring. If you want to take a heavy task English class. Take this professor. He will make you write like non-stop. Those assignments are uselss, not helpful and stupid.

You will do more reading and writing in this class than in any other class at Baruch. Not sure what I learned bout Accounting Info Systems. But I learned a lot about the politics, history of the accounting world. Taught me true lessons about what to expect from life as an accountant in the real world. The material is not hard. Downside is the workload. Summarize multiple articles before each class. Very Long Waren Project. At the end things got a little easier, but is no easy A. However, if you can do everything it is a guaranteed A. If you're serious about accounting then take him, if you want a walk in the park take someone else.

mostly gives you a eye opener about the accounting profession, not that hard just alot of work, and i MEAN ALOT! summaries about articles and a book. Added into that projects very small and easy for the most part.
Nice professor, but a lot of work to do, summarize articles and chapters from the book, you also have Waren Project and MYOB. Don't worry too much about Waren and I mean it, most people didn't finish and got the same grades as people who did. MYOB very easy to do. Just do everything, hand in on time and you should be ok, at least I was got an A.
He's very mundane. It's a lot of work, especially the article summaries. And the Waren package is no joke, it's so much work. You really have to work for this class.
Time consuming. Submit 1-3 essays every class. At one time even made a rule that essay must be submitted before 8pm day before class?! Then realized the absurdity and ended this rule. Just make sure u submit to BB on time + waren, myob. Besides the green sheet in waren there also 20+ tasks to complete in the workbook, make sure u have enough time.
He is a very good Professor, very knowledgeable, and passionate about accounting, also kind and helpful. The project with the MYOB computer project does take some time but it's a computer info systems class, doh! Besides, I say, this project really straightened up my basic accounting. I am glad I have chosen Tinker for my ACC 3202.

Well, lots of work, not so clear on what to do. His lectures are ok, but not the best. He is totally unfair at grading. So, make sure he gives what you deserve, so fight for your grade until you got it. In short, too much work, too much talking, wasting time. Lapelosa is better than Tinker.
He knows a lot of information on accounting. Very wise professor. He gives a lot of readings and writings to do, but no tests! Overall, not bad~
very smart prof., but extremely hard and strict. the textbook is the worst ever, and it comes with an online programming which most of the work is done on. when you answer a problem wrong, the problem restarts therefor you must restart, grade is 50% online which makes it nearly impossible to do well on.
Good professor overall, but he is fairly boring. He gave no exams at all except for final which was open book but was too long for the time given. 50% of grade was based on online work which was fairly time consuming and frustrating and some small papers which were easy enough for extra credit. Show up to class and pay attention and you will do ok.
Great Professor! If you want to learn this guy has the expereince both in the real world and in education. Tinker is very down to earth and is VERY fair. Do your homework, understand the material, and you'll breeze through the final (the index will be your best friend!)
Okay, I did all the wiley HW, his fake "essays" that are based on old nightline programs he shows, and did horribly (like way below an F) on his final, which was open book, but included things that he didn't teach nor were in the text. I ended up getting an A-, and so did most of the class.
Nice guy but this is a boring class. He tries to get students interested by talking about current events but it doesn't work. Half of the grade is homework and the other half is the final and extra credit. Need to work for the grade. Not an interesting class. There is no midterm or quizzes. Just HW, final and extra credit essays. OK overall.
Basically. i was the only one in class that finished the final, and i thought i did well on it, but only got an A-. granted its not a bad grade, but there were people that barely got one question done and got As. overall, if u want to major in acc, do not take him b.c u will not learn. if u wanna learn about enron, take him lol
I don't think he gives below an A. Just do his extra credit and do well on the WileyPlus assignments. Should be a very easy A.
I would highly recommend you take his class (if you can). Do the wiley, at times it will seem like a lot, but make sure you get it done because it basically determines what you get in the class. I'm pretty sure the final is just out of formality, and isn't weighed too much. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities, no attendance.. TAKE HIM!!
Besides having simple coursework he is not very good at what he teaches. If you plan on majoring in accounting then do not take him you will not learn much.
Here is his grading system: homework - 50%; attendance - 10%; 5 extra credit assignments - 5% each; final exam - 40%. If you do everything before taking the final you'll already have 85% of the grade. He is an easy grader, but if you want to learn accounting don't take him. He really tries, but there are some people that simply can't explain.

HE'S FUNNY AND A GREAT PROF. I HATE ACCOUNTING. I WAS OVERWHELMED AT FIRST THINKING I'D FAIL BUT HE GOES OVER EVERYTHING TWICE (MORE IF U ASK) AND THE EX.CREDIT IS A GODSEND. THE ENTIRE SEMESTER I FELT LIKE I WAS LEARNING NOTHING BUT WHEN I TOOK THE FINAL, I REALIZED I KNEW PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING (COURSE IT HELPED THAT IT WAS AN OPEN BOOK FINAL) ;)
Just Fyi for all those who think hes hard...Compared to Prof. Sweeney who teaches the same class in the lecture hall, you will thank god a million times u actually took Tinker. I feel so lucky I changed my schedule to have Tinker as my prof when i hear all my other friend complaining bout how bad sweeney is. Show effort and u will get an A.
Big pluses, He cancelled class a few times... not that he takes attendance neways. Bring in any thing for Final, no midterm. Extra credit is really mandatory if u want an A.

Professor offers students a chance to process accounting control analyses and to perform multipart accounting problems. All in all, these help students grasp a better understanding of the material and apply the accounting concepts properly.
wrote the review about the final on 5/23--just wanted to let everyone know he does give A's...I got an A and I missed a LOT of class throughout the semester and didn't go to class after spring break BUT I took good notes in the beginning and did all the hw--make sure you have good notes on the T-charts and do all the hw and you'll do fine
DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDITS. One final with seven problems, but you pick five of them. He took attendance once during the time I took this course. Overall, waste of time to even go to class. Open book, open computer, open internet final.

He makes the subject fun! I enjoyed his class. He's very funny. takes attendance on 2 random days. Beware of his final! Very difficult even though it was open book. I'm not sure how I passed it, but I got an A overall w/o even doing any extra credit papers. :) Absolutely must buy the textbook. You will not fall asleep in his class. :) Take him!

HW isn't that easy to figure out but if you work at it your get most of it at least. Gives a extra credit 3 times, two already in first half of semester. Overall a bit easy class.The grading system is easy compared to other classes.
What was happening? It's as if the class never happened. All I did was write papers on videos he showed us, never bought the book, the online homeworks had answers already, and you could use a laptop for the final. I got an A. I learned nothing, except that anything to do with business is not for me. In that sense, thank you, Mr. Tinker.
Easiest A I ever got. HW has answers. Final was online. Multiple EC opps with his videos. Took attendance like 2 times. He tries to help when students have questions. Probably a decent prof if I paid attention to him/didn't go late/skip all the time. Definitely recommend. + British accent.
This class is basically what everyone else says. Yet accounting is not easy and you have to study and put effort into the hws and extra credits.
Easy A for sure. There are no in-class exams, and he takes attendance randomly (he only took it twice). The final was online (take home final ftw!) and we had two days to complete it. plus, the final was similar to the online hw, so it's pretty easy. He also gives extra credit. He is a nice professor and it's definitely a laid back class.
He's definitely an intelligent professor with a strong background in accounting. He's also pretty funny! just do the hw and the extra credit. As for the final, it was online for us, he hasn't done this before i'm assuming. So make sure you ask him for a take home final! and also, he'll randomly takes attendance. Easy A for sure!

Weekly online homework. Online exam. Waking up was the hardest thing ever. I only came to class a few times this semester. Recommended for students that want a decent grade without trying too hard.
He's a nice guy. I don't really know why he has low ratings. Accounting is boring but he makes it easy to understand. He teaches basics and repeats things to make sure you get the concept. The homework is not hard at all, neither is final. So make sure you do well since the extra credit doesn't add many points. Read the book - it's very helpful.
waste of time! 4 hours of class at 9 am on Sat is terrible with this professor. he is so confusing. he knows alot, but cannot teach at all. only book will help you understand what is going on in class and do homework.
Besides the fact that he doesn?t explain the material, he also doesn?t care about the students. Opens online homework just once a week for 2 hours at a certain time, which weights 35% of the grade. So if you have some other things to do in your life besides Accounting 2101, don?t take him, cause your plans will be ruined. AVOID!
Leaves class early, never answers questions about the Connect hw, which is 50% of the final grade. He gave an impossible final (worth 50% of the final grade)of 95 questions that were forms like Income Statements & General Journals, no one even managed to finish. There is a petition protesting this final with Baruch's Zicklin school. Bad experience
Not helpful if you have questions about homework- he says you must submit it in writing, then he will only answer if enough of the class has the same question. HW is 35-50% of the grade. You only have 2 hours on Sunday evening to complete it. Inflexible and unreasonable professor.
Avoid this professor at all cost. Especially if you never took an ACC class before. He is not helpful at all, doesn't want to answer any questions. Makes online h/ws available only on Saturday or Sunday night. Final is a killer. This class is neither useful nor easy. Just save your nerves and take someone else.
I received an A in this course.. It wasn't easy. I'm currently taking ACC 3000 now, and I'm realizing I didn't learn anything in Tinker's 2201 class. I have a midterm coming up for my current class and I have to learn everything Tinker was supposed to teach us but didn't (All stuff that my professor expects me to know.) Sure does stink.
AVOID! Attending class does not help you learn. Sometimes the students have to correct what he says. You need to really study the text book thoroughly. Online homework are ridiculous because you are not able to finish within the two hour limit given. Final is accumulative also two hours! Take another professor, this class will stress you out!
Online Homework and you must read the textbook before you do the homework. The homework is due on Sunday from 9-11 pm. He gives extra credit on integrity of various accounting firms. You will not learn accounting at all in this class. If you want to learn accounting, I highly suggest that you take another professor. If you want A take him.

You must read the text book, all the homework and final is based on the text book. As for the professor, he isnt the best pick however if you are wiling to work hard with the book then this class is for you.
What is there to say about Tinker. This man is something else. The hws are every sunday 9-11pm so if you are not free during that time dont take his class because he doesnt care about your excuse. One test and it is online. He forgot to post the final while over 100 students were waiting online for 2 hours. If you want a random grade take Tinker!
Professor Tinker accounting class can either destroy your GPA or make it better. He is not helpful after class and does not reply to email. You HAVE to do the homework to get a good grade . The final was ridiculous but manageable if you know the material inside and out because it is a very tedious final with 95 questions. So STUDY STUDY Study

Okay, this professor is the worst in terms of teaching and clarifications. But he is pretty lenient when comes to grading. He will give a lot of extra credit (3 extra credits, for my experience) and each worth 5 points each. His hw is still online (Sunday) and due within 3 hours. The final was a joke, full of flaws and he doesnt help you with it.
Grades are based on homeworks (assigned every Sunday - 3 hours), extra credit assignments, and a final. Attendance is not required and neither is it recommended because you don't learn anything anyway. However, if you complete all assignments - you will get a good grade.
Most people had trouble in this class due to personality of Professor Tinker. But if you just follow his rubric, do all the assignments online and do well on the final, you will get a good grade in the class. He curves up your Final grade a little to help each student. Take Him, not that many lenient graders out there in Accounting
Strict guy but for a big SAT class hes a nice grader. can use any acct text and $50 for online Assignments available SUN 9pm only for 1 or 2hrs so prepare b4 & use a regular calc for ridiculous final too. Saturday class so it was very HARD to stay awake and Tinker isn't much use because he is very very dull in his lectures. However, to get a good grade, just do ALL The homework because that what your grade is going to be based on. So many people bombed the final and ended up with good grades because of their homework.
H/w is not hard but very long. He gives only 3hrs on Sun from 8pm to 11pm to complete it. It's a very big stress especially when you have to work on mon morning. Other prof.usually give a week for 30 questions. I asked people who took this class with other professors.I think it's hard to understand the material with him.Read the book!!!
Completely different experience than the other reviews. He told us to buy a brand new book ($250), and then whatever edition we wanted. Lectures are focused on fraud, not principles needed to succeed and take higher courses. Homework is tedious and voluntary (no credit). Two exams determine entire grade, with fraud based extra credit. No syllabus.
I recommend taking the course with another professor if you're thinking about ACC 2101. Chances are that there is someone teaching the course better than Tinker somewhere in the department.
Avoid this professor if you can. He doesn't explain material very well, we watched 4 or 5 movies during semester (I would rather learn accounting and watch extra credit assignments movies at home). He took attendance only 3 times, almost every saturday sent us home an hour earlier. Midterm(40% of a grade) and final(50%) are very difficult.
Ah yes, Prof Tinker. No syllabus, no review sheets, no email(will answer any question in class) no help with exam prep, and an attitude(thinks text. authors are idiots). Dont know what all of you guys are writing about saying that there is too much work. Alot of extra credit assignments that are not mandatory, but its in your best interest to do those plus they are interesting anyway. McGrawHill assignments are not mandatory as well but again yo want to do them. Easiest class i ever had in baruch. Yes the way he teach is a bit boring but if you will read the book before the class suddenly it will become interesting. Even theatre class i took was harder.
With this professor really have to be ready to do all of his extra credits cos they really do help. His curves are based on his extra credits also he takes attendance very seriously so try to be in class every time he takes them. That will also help boos your grade. Prof. Tinker is alright. But his homework and exams are not. It's at Sundays at 9- 12 midnight. Not great for those who have work or school next day. Should take at your risks!!!
I took this class a semester ago, and it was hectic! Homework and exams were long that it was unbearable. The lecture was dull and boring, since it's a Saturday class. However, attendance is mandatory! I recommend to take weekday classes than Saturday class.
Class is alright. Homework, exams are time and is VERY long! Professor is alright. Midterm with 40% and final is 50%, while other classes are 25 and 40 for final.
If you want to major in accounting,DON'T take his class. yes,it is easy but you will learn nothing about accounting, take someone else who can prepare you for the 3000 level ACC courses. I wished I never took this class
If you want to major in accounting leave, but if you want an easy A TAKE HIS CLASS, He takes attendance only twice the whole semester, one final one midterm worth 40% 50& of your final grade. DO THE EXTRA CREDITS and you will get an A. He is a nice and generous grader. But you will learn nothing.
Your grade is at this mans mercy. It is not tied at all to the content of the textbook or the class. I failed ALL THREE exams but went all out on the extra credit and got an A. That's why this guy gets some good reviews. All semester you will be wondering where you stand in this class. Hope he's in a good mood when he's submitting your grade.
Prof. Tinker is the BEST ( and I mean it!). Come to class and stay focus. If not, he will pick on you. Read the textbook and do what you got to do. Highly recommended.
I have no idea what happened in class throughout the semester. He assumes (and I'm also assuming here) everyone reads and perfectly understands the textbook material before class. There's no definite way of telling what he thinks. I think his extra credit helps, but again, there's no definite way of knowing that. Also, pretty unorganized.
This professor doesn't teach at all. You won't get accounting learning from him. He doesn't even know how to teach. Ruined my Accounting 3000 grade because I took him and learned nothing
He doesn't teach very well, and is extremely intimidating. His class is easy though just do the excel extra credit. Most of the class time is spent watching videos. Just read the textbook and you will be fine. His tests are not hard.
This professor is rude, and teaches the same material over and over again. The materials in the exam have nothing to do with what he teaches during class. You have to basically read the textbook and learn for yourself. I thought this was an easy A class, but I ended up with a C ONLY because I did bad on the final. Taking this class is a risk.
Avoid at all costs. Many stories of him being an easy A, but he formulates the final grades however he feels on that day. Class is boring and at times off-topic. Said no textbook but the exams had no correlation to the class material and blackboard files. Rather rude to students asking questions.

Ok here's the deal with Tinker, he's had brain surgery. His lectures are bad, he speaks slow and he expects you to be prepared. However all you have to do to get the A is do the extra credit, show up for a conference and barely pass the exams. The exam questions are ripped off from online tests. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU'RE AN ACC MAJOR. Easy A otherwise.
I took him last semester. Basically, you will learn nothing. If you want an easy A take him. I didn't do any extra credit or his presentation. I still managed to get an A. He lets you out early so you won't have to dread four hours of waste. I am pretty positive i did poorly on my exams, but still managed to get an A.
Do the extra credit that's due in the end and you will get an A. Do not wait till last minute because the extra credit takes a long time to complete.
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT REALLY EARLY. It's just a bunch of videos that he show and if you just listen in and take notes you can finish it really early. so I did really poorly on the first exam, did all the extra credit at the end of the semester, (which he doesn't even go through in my opinion) and did really good on the final. That's all there is to this class. didn't learn much in this class, no hw, no sam project all accounting classes end up doing. this class didn't require much time from me
AVOID AT ALL COST. HE DOESN'T TEACH. He took a month to grade the midterm and you have to find out from his office! I read the entire textbook and I still did terribly. If cheating is your thing, easy A as other comments suggest. He won't answer any questions about the test-even vital info you need (was missing numbers to calculate)
This is an introductory accounting course so theres a large part of the course where students will have to read the book before coming to class to understand the lecture material. Tinkers role is to present material but more importantly critique, discuss, and facilitate various accounting methods. He shares expertise at scale through his lectures
Avoid to take his class. I paid Baruch 900$ for this class never listened anything from professor no any recorded lectures. Unavailable to reach by mail. I could read books about accounting why college keep unfair professors. No any grading criteria. Please tech your students something at least.
He sent one email at the beginning of the semester telling us to do a module a week, so the whole class is self study; we've never seen a lecture. The midterm, final, and sam projects are what you're graded on. Extra credit is an essay which you have to email him for. Sam projects aren't bad if you just do the excel training on sam beforehand.
Don't take him. He uses tests that give you a minute to answer eachh question and you can't go back to look it over. It's ridiculous and I'm currently working on a review for the exam I have and there are an unbelievable amount of mistakes. I don't normally get this angry but this teacher feels like a scammer.
Worst professor I ever had. I failed the class bc BlackBoard crashed during my midterm and final (I have never even had a B before). This happened to half the class. There are 3 days left in the semester and he hasn't set a date to retake (each is 50% of your grade). He never responds to emails and is completely unreachable. Avoid at all costs.
Took this guy as a risk. I knew he was a bum, wouldn't respond to emails and that the tests were all online. I got hella lucky bc I never learned a single thing, cheated on two tests, and got an A-. Didn't even do a single SAM project or the extra credit. A bunch of other people got totally screwed by his tests so be aware of risk.
This professor does not teach. He reads slides word for word and makes the class write essays worth 30%. Never responds to emails. Our professor got changed with a month left in the semester. We were still waiting on grades from him and when the new professor finally got them, Tinker didn't grade mine and wouldn't respond to my emails.
