He explains labs so well, and is very understanding of every student in lab. I would highly recommend taking him for Gen Chem Lab 1111 if you can!!!
He is really good for the class and always finishes content early so we have a day to review in class. He answers questions well and makes the class easy to follow.
Professor Huang was amazing with answering questions, although he moves quickly through his lectures. He almost consistently is done covering material 30 minutes into lecture.
Dr. Huang has been incredibly kind and patient during lab. When my group would make a mistake, he doesn't scold us. Dr. Huang takes the time to help us. He explains procedures very well even though it can be tiring since he's had to repeat directions multiple times a day because he taught other sections. Humble and has a great attitude.
He prepares us well for the test
Dr. Huang is an absolute legend, by far the best chem 2 professor, and the only chem 1 professor that might be better is Taylor and thats only because she teaches that easy material to you like a baby. Dr. Huang on the other hand will cover everything with very well done slides and do everything he possibly can to help you get the best grade
One of the best professors I've had so far. He's really easy going and not to mention he has amazing slides. I also had him for lab last semester and it was definitely an easy A. Great professor!!
Love this professor!!! By far my favorite professor of my freshman year! Hes so chill and funny. He usually finishes his lectures early yet he still explains everything very well and thoroughly. Never read the textbook or did the homework and still did well on tests. Im so glad I had him for both gen Chem 1 and 2! Take him if you get the chance
You can tell how important a slide is by the size of the star Dr. Huang puts.
An absolute legend. Take his lab if you can his lectures are great too. Super nice guy and made Gen chem 1 bearable.
I love Tony!!! Best chem professor out there. Go to his exam review, they really help, and he puts a different size star on each ptt slide to let you know how important it is on the exam. He gets done with class 20 mins early, but he's clear about the material and very thorough. Do the recommended textbook problems, go to office hours, get an A.
Huang has awesome review slides before tests. His section usually has the highest averages compared to other sections. He often finishes class early and is very clear and good at teaching. Would highly recommend!
He is so funny! He teaches the material very well and gets done with class 20 minutes early. He has review slides, and puts stars on them. the bigger the star, the more important it is. TAKE HIM FOR GEN CHEM
Dr. Huang is an amazing professor. If you can keep up with how fast he moves through his lecture, then he'll be the perfect fit for you. He's very personable and funny. He also has review days before the exam and puts stars next to things you need to know for the exam. His section usually makes the highest averages on the test too.
I took Dr. Tony for Chem lab and it was so worth it. He is so nice and he makes the lab environment fun and not stressful. He grades so easy, so it's really hard not to get an A in the lab. Show up and follow his rules and you're golden.
Dr. Huang is one of the best professors you can take for this course. While he does go through lectures quickly, they are well-detailed. For exams, he makes sure to highlight the important topics and will walk through examples with everyone. He is responsive to emails. Very easy-going, and funny too.
Great professor. Cares about his students and he knows how to teach.
Tony's the Best! He literally gives you the answers for in-class assignments. He has in-class reviews, unlike other profs. His lectures are really good and he let's class out early all the time. The class is 4 exams, 1 final, online hw (ALEKS), in-class assignments. So it's pretty easy (as long as you take Tony!!)
Huang's lectures are short and concise. He teaches you all the necessary concepts through entertaining lectures, but don't slack off on ALEKS or textbook homework if you want an A. In contrast, Dieckmann teaches more in depth and wastes time on information that isn't tested on. Huang has a great personality and makes learning enjoyable.
Tony is such a great professor! His lectures always end up being 20-30 minutes long. He gives in-class reviews the day before the exam and only covers what's most important. He goes by pretty fast, but his lectures are always clear and concise. He's super funny too! Huang is the professor you definitely want for gen chem!
Phenomenal professor and human being. He will take the time outside of class in office hours to help you hone in on any subjects youre not 100% comfortable with. Also, he makes jokes throughout class to keep the students engaged and entertained. 10/10 prof, a gem especially at UTD.
Dr. Huang is funny, good at explaining, and often gets out of class early while STILL covering all the material(he's really fast). Chemistry at UTD is still under the idea that the ALEKS program is valid, despite not preparing you for exams and taking ludicrous amounts of time. If you need to take chem at UTD, try to do it on a hmwk lite semester.
I LOVE Dr. Huang! He condenses his lectures from 50 mins to 30 and teaches information efficiently. His lecture slides are great (if you're short on time, just study those and not the textbook). He is also really sweet and makes class fun with occasional jokes. Genchem 2 can be hard, but he's the best in my opinion.
Tony is the best professor for gen chem in my opinion. He does go really quickly through the material, but he will go more in depth if needed. If you need someone who goes slower, Tony may not be the best choice for you but he's always available outside of class if you have a question. His reviews are awesome too and reflect the exams well.
Really great professor but goes really quickly through his lectures. Usually out within 30 minutes of a 50 minute class. Material is tough so be prepared but Tony teaches and explains well. Definitely go to his exam reviews; he likes to do a lot of example problems that are on the exam. His lecture reviews are really helpful too but are long.
Dr. Huang does not waste time and his lectures always end early. He is organized and has amazing lecture PowerPoints with everything you need to know. He is very willing to help his students anytime. If you email him a question, he responds super fast. He is the most accessible and genuinely caring professor I have had. As a bonus, he is funny too.
There is a LOT of hard material covered in Chem 1312. Despite this, he is able to condense the material into easy-to-understand 30 minute lectures while doing numerous practice problems. His review slides are extremely helpful for the exams and is willing to help outside of class.
Huang is hands down the best professor for general chemistry. He cares about his students, makes concepts clear, and will take extra time to explain concepts to you during office hours. Gen chem 2 is a beast- but one that's definitely bearable with Dr. Huang. HW problems are really important, so do them!
Gen Chem Lab I is super easy with Tony. He's an awesome professor and is very clear about instructions and what he's grading. Be sure to attend and you'll easily get an A, provided you do all of the Labs (NOT HARD).
Had him as my lab instructor and he was very patient and kind. He also subbed in a few times for my chem lectures and his classes were always short & sweet :)
His lectures were short, like he will finish them in 30 minutes, but they are really good. He makes sure to hit the important information and skips the things that are important. Gen chem 2 is pretty hard, but his lectures and practice problems definitely help. Highly recommend his office hours for extra help.
he's great . my only concern is that he goes REALLY FAST.
He is pretty young, has an accent but not hard to understand. His lectures are super short maximum of 30 min. He wants to see the students succeed. the class however is not easy but that is a departmental thing at UTD, Dieckmann makes the course difficult, Huang finds ways to help the students do well. do textbook problems as hw.
Tony is the best professor for Gen Chem 2! He runs through the material quickly (30-min lectures), but he's very efficient and only teaches concepts tested on the exams. His PowerPoints are concise and his practice problems are helpful. He's also pretty funny and responds to emails quickly. 10/10 recommend!
He zooms through lectures in 20 minutes, but the lectures cover a lot of information and are very helpful. Before tests he gives you a powerpoint with stars on it. The bigger the star, the more important it is on the test. Definitely take him for gen chem 2 !
Dr. Huang was always approachable for help and truly cares for his students. He made understanding gen chem 2 easy and straightforward. His lectures were phenomenal and clear, and also short. Do practice problems from the textbook and you'll do great.
Everyone loves Tony! His lectures are short and concise but he still covers everything you need for the exams, which I preferred over Dieckmann bc his students were barely learning big chunks of the exam material the day before the exam. PLTL + practice exams(from previous yrs) is what got me an A+! It's really not as hard as people make it sound.
Absolutely the top choice for this class. He packs all of his lectures into roughly 30 minutes so you will always get out early. He is very efficient at explaining topics but the speed of his lectures may be a little intimidating at first. His slides are better organized than the other chem professors, and his exam review slides are amazing.
This is his first time teaching Gen Chem 1 in 2020. Our year is a pain, so we simply studying remotely and slightly differentn than the other years. His lecture is amazing, fast, and easy to understand. He is very nice. You can email him and ask, and he will reply during that day. Absolutely take Gen Chem 2 with him again.
Tony is hands down one of the best Chemistry professors I've ever had the pleasure of being taught by and I will be taking his other classes as well! His classes break your units right down for you and explains everything very well and his reviews are to DIE for. The genchem 1 class in general is incredibly difficult but Tony makes it a lot easier!
Great teacher, always simple and on point. So sad that his class got full very quickly.
His lectures and workshops are super fast and informative, beware if you don't plan to review lecture material before attending workshops. Asynchronous learning makes it easy to replay parts you did not understand. Test review ppts are amazing and good study material.
Best Chem Professor Ever! His workshops cause of online learning are the best and he crams hours of lectures into a good 30-40 minutes! During workshops he gives us practice questions and answers questions. Really knows his stuff. Chem is overall hard and tests were different and not just mc but a lot of frq but he taught it the best.
It's hard to find a prof that cares about his students and teaches well like him. Lectures were around 20-30 min, and he gave tips on what to focus on. Exam review slides were helpful as he put stars on what you needed to know. Chem is a hard subject, so you will need to study and do hw prob. Do your work, follow Dr. Tony's advice, and you're good.
An amazing professor, I would've done worse if I had been anywhere else. His way of teaching is great and he was always willing to explain a concept more to make sure we understood it. He also didn't waste time on irrelevant info so the class was always quick and ended on time. Do the HW and practice exams + review slides and you should be set.
TAKE PROF TONY!!! Amazing gen chem prof and he keeps his lectures/workshops fun while providing you with all the information and doesn't waste your time. Really caring and funny guy and has great review ppts before tests. Wish I was able to take him in person.
Tony is AMAZING. He teaches you what you need to know and he does not waste anyone's time while he's doing it. Highly recommend.
Tony was a great professor to have for chem 1311. He have great reviews, made awesome TV show references and gave good workshops. He does lecture pretty quickly so be prepared to write quickly
Tony is the best Gen Chem lecturer and professor. Only teaches what will be on the exam and it focused and to the point. He is great at explaining concepts in ways that are easy to understand, and prepares you so well for the exam. He is also a super kind guy and its fun to be in his class. I can't recommend him enough.
I have had professor Huang for both Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 and honestly this man is a blessing. His lectures are short and sweet if you prefer that teaching style and he usually replies to emails within the span of a day if you happen to have a question over material or need to request an early or late exam. His exam review ppts are helpful.
This professor is so nice, is willing to help you if you reach out, and definitely knows the material himself! My complaint though is that his lectures are so short because he goes so fast and skips example problems because "this is easy" or "you should already know this" instead of accommodating those who aren't good at the subject.
Prof Huang is very precise with the way he curates his lectures. He gives good example problems which you will see on the exams. Pay attention to reviews and learn the formulas. Definitely recommend him for this course.
Very easy class, although it may depend a bit on the TA you receive. Just look at Huang's workshop videos and show up to lab and you're basically guaranteed an A for this course.
want to pass, want to have a normal life with a bit of studying? then do yourself a favor and never ever take this professor ever. We have to memorize all the equations (over 4 pages of equations) and we had 4 exams and a final(cumulative) the 4th exam was taken on monday and the final was taken wednesday in the same week as finals. never take him
Extremely difficult exams. Last two exams were essentially back to back. Neither ALEKs nor the textbook homework prepares you for exams. Spring 2021 reviews only seem positive because the chem department didn't let anyone fail the course that semester.
Amazing lectures and style. Finished with a 100+. The secret to this class: pay close attention to lectures, PLTL, and dropbox exams. Textbook HW doesn't help. Exam Review slides are VERY VERY important; work every problem and understand EVERY concept. Perfect them. Exams are very easy if you do this since all the exam material is spelled out.
Dr. Huang is my most favorite professor. Clear and concise explanations, and he gives a generous curve at the end of the semester.
Tony is amazing, but Tony isn't for everyone. He speeds through lectures in 30 min that would normally take other chem profs over an hour. He doesn't hold your hand through every problem and does most of his math mentally. His Review PPTs are da bomb. Even if you don't take him, get the PPTs from someone in his class. Took Spring 2021 coronamester
Tony is just AMAZING!!
His explanations are extremely concise and easy to understand. If you think that you have a decent grip on chemistry, take him. He does go fast, but his explanations are not contradictive and easy to understand. The tests are worded weirdly, but the tests are the same for each teacher so no matter who you take, it's going to be the same difficulty.
Dr. Huang is awesome! He explains concepts very clearly and only takes half the time. He is also super helpful in emails. Do the dropbox exams, practice problems in the lecture notes, and PLTL, and you'll do well. Exams are the same no matter which prof you take. Dr. Huang makes a hard class, much MUCH easier. Didn't open the textbook once.
Dr. Huang is one of the best chem professors ever. His explanations are clear and concise, and he prepares you well for the exams. Exams are department-wide which makes them difficult at times, but he makes such a difference in how well his students do! He is passionate, hilarious, and all-around awesome. He is well-liked by students. Take him!!!
Dr Huang is simply fantastic. Clear, concise, and amazing lectures. Extremely funny, nice, and accessible out of class. Goes out of his way to create material geared towards helping students do the best they possibly can on exams(i.e, his review slides and review tests). If you can, take him. Gen chem 2 is harder then 1, this guy makes it easy.
Literal GOAT of a Professor. Went over everything needed before the test. Lectures were done in an average of 30 minutes. And explained everything clearly without wandering off topic. Only did well on exams because of him. Take him if you want to do well on exams and actually understand chemistry.
Dr. Huang is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are quick and to the point but filled with information. He is always very clear about what to expect on exams, and he provides lots of example questions.
Good professor and explains concepts in the most simple way. His test reviews are extremely helpful for the exam, and he highlights which concepts will be tested. The ALEKS homework are not tedious and not helpful when studying for the exam. Great professor for this class!
Dr. Huang is genuinely one of the best professors here at UTD. The course itself IS difficult, but if you do practice problems and learn from your mistakes, then this class is nowhere near as hard as others make it out to be. His review slides are concise and summarize important info very well. If you get the chance to, make sure to take Huang.
Gen Chem at UTD is a nightmare, and Dr. Huang is the only thing that got me through it. His lectures are clear and concise, and he prepares you well for the exams. He's an awesome professor, and if you have to suffer through Gen Chem at UTD, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
If you need to retake Gen Chem 2, TAKE DR HUANG'S SUMMER COURSE! This was my 3rd time taking this class and after brutally failing it the first 2 times (w/ diff profs), I got a B! I actually understood the content thanks to his lectures! He also cushioned the exams with the ICAs and ALEKS. It's still hard, but Dr Huang makes it doable!
Tony is The Goat as other reviewers have said. He is straight to the point, and he will help you outside of class if you set an appointment with him. If you just pay attention in class and go over your missed exam questions with him, you will probably pass with flying colors.
Tony is one of the most organized profs I have had. I had to retake the class, but I went from failing to getting an A. Show up to all the lectures and review the notes. ALEKS is a real pain but do them, and understand the concepts instead of just trying to get them done. Do the HW problems, some of the same kinds of questions pop up on the exam.
Thanks to Dr.Tony, I can finally say I enjoy chemistry. He doesn't just teach hard facts, he brings the material to life. Follow along closely during lecture and you'll see. Keeping on top of your work and reserving your best questions for your individual meetings is the best way to build a relationship with him. He's impatient with dumb questions.
Can't exaggerate how amazing Dr. Huang is. I have Dr. D as my prof, but I go to both lectures because Huang is good for math concepts while Dieckmann is good for conceptual problems. Those who said chem 2 was harder were over exaggerating. I really enjoyed this class and did a lot better than I thought I would! Tony Stan 4 life
Dr. Huang is the best professor for Gen Chem 2. His notes are concise and are representative of what you need to know for the exams. Always ask questions during office hours if you are not sure about any concepts. It is really important to not fall behind in this course.
Best professor for Gen Chem 2 by far. He is very organized and concise with lectures for the tests and there were times he was so ahead he finished lectures for the day in less than 10 minutes. Tests are standardized so its the same for everyone but he always covers what you need to know without going into unnecessary stuff. Again, he's the best.
His slides carried everyone in his lecture or not. His requirements are very clear. He's an anime fan so immediate W, and on fridays he gives quizzes that require a password he says in class. So, only fridays count attendance, but people share the password all the time too. Overall, complicated subject, great teacher.
Tony is an amazing professor who has really good slides. DISCLAIMER: I took this course over the summer and I highly advise against it. While Tony is great, this class is way too difficult to take in such a short period of time. The class average was consistently in the 50-60 range and half the class failed. Tony is great but the summer wasn't.
I heard so many good things about this professor so I was really excited to take his class, but I was fairly disappointed. I took his summer course and every student consistently failed the exams and I consistently felt underprepared for everything. Half of the time I felt like I was teaching myself since all he did was upload slides online
Honestly I
This class is very, very difficult and Dr. Huang made it easier by posting detailed slides. I wish he gave test reviews and did practice workshops, but considering how summer class is so fast paced I don't blame him. 10/10 would recommend him
Do your homework and use the resources he gives yu and you will be perfectly fine in his class :)
I thought Huang was amazing! He sure knows how to keep a class engaged. If you take this class Huang is never going to be the problem. It's going to be your study habits if anything. His lecture slides are sent straight from Heaven, and his teaching style is very fun and engaging. You'll love Huang he genuinely cares to help you succeed. Good luck!
The goat bro
Tony is an awesome chem 1 prof and I'd recommend him over the other chem profs. He consistently let us out of class 20-30 min early without ever rushing through the material. If you took AP chem in hs this will feel like review. Find the dropbox and do as many practice q's as possible to review for exams. End of Chapter q's are harder than exams.
Great professor, his lectures are precise and to the point. you will never be confused about assignments and due dates. He is flexible as long as you explain your situation. I was scared about chemistry, but his lectures really helped me. PLEASE TAKE HIM IF U CAN.
some say he's too fast, but I think he's just concise and straight to the point. do the examples in his slides and practice exams and you'll do great!
The exams are really what make or break you in this class so focus on those of course. Do a lot of practice for this class. Huang is amazing, it's just the subject that sucks. He tries to make it an enjoyable class experience though. Compared to the other chemistry professors at UTD his lectures were TOP NOTCH. His accent is very easy to understand
Best professor I've had at UTD so far! His lectures are concise and at the perfect pace, and most days he let us out early. His slides are so clear that you could learn the entire course purely from reading the slides. Dr. Huang's sections also have the highest average grades among all the sections. Definitely take him if you can!!
Concise lectures, class participation can be done outside of class (really easy participation on Fridays), PLTL helps because the tests are significantly harder than Gen Chem 2. Do EOC questions especially for Test 3, the rest you can use old tests.
Fantastic professor. The content and tests we have are the same for all professors but he's by far the best lecturer. Different professors have different slides, and his slides are the best in terms of showing content clearly. He lectures at such a good pace, and often gets done in 30 minutes or less. Def take if you can.
Huang is goated. His lectures on the Friday before exams always highlighted the most important concepts that would be tested. Gen chem 2 is def more difficult than gen chem 1 so expect the class to be harder, but Tony does his best to help you succeed. Do the end of chapter questions and old exams from the drop box to study.
Great professor! Very nice. Weekly Homework. Helpful lectures. Quizzes a week before exam.
Lecture is heavy but keeps things interesting! hes okay; I would retake him.
Great professor! If you have the option of taking him rather than the other CHEM 1311 teachers, you should jump at the opportunity. Lectures are straight to the point and will give you the main concepts, but you will be required to do lots of study on your own to prepare for exams if you miss any lectures.
Attendance is counted once a week, his lectures are super helpful, and his slides make it easy to understand the concepts.
All the ratings are right. He's a great lecturer with very clear and concise slides. I stopped going to class and just learned off the slides. He's very accessible outside of class and overall a great professor.
Dr. Huang honestly carries the entire genchem department on his back. goated prof, goated lectures, he makes everything so easy to understand.
The BEST chemistry professor you can take. His lectures are very concise and straight to the point. He works out example problems that will be on the test during class and his review slides are KEY to success. Also, on workshop days you'll probably be let out early.
LOVED his class. he always kept lectures concise and straight to the point. his exam review slides are really helpful too. super funny and chill guy, everyones so upset hes not teaching gen chem 2 next sem. easy workshop quizzes record attendance on fridays. as long as you pay attention and do practice questions, youll do great in the class!
The BEST gen chem 1 professor! The ratings aren't wrong — Dr. Huang's lectures are super concise yet incredibly effective. His exam averages are well above those of the other professors which clearly reflects the quality of his teaching. Super sad that he's not teaching gen chem 2 next semester :(
Best chem 1 professor. His slides are gold and he explains things so well. If you are every confused, he will walk you through everything. Exams look exactly like his practice questions. His explanations combined with light studying will guarantee an easy A in the class.
He explains chemistry amazingly and makes it so fun! 5 tests, the final replaces one midterm. Final was pretty easy and midterms are sometimes a bit tricky. Do EOC problems, ALEKS, and past practice tests and you will be fine.
he's so chill and lab was easy/fast. his TA was EH
