Nice teacher, marks extremely easy. Can easily approach her, respectful. This class will seriously boost your GPA. Highly recommend this course/prof.
She is a nice teacher and approachable, but at times her marking can be questionable. Doesn't seem prepared during lectures, in fact attending classes are pointless unless it's a day where you need to do in class assignments.
I came into this course with almost no interest in science (b/c of previous failed science classes). Luckily, Tonya was very approachable, nice, goes over things slowly and clearly, and gave us interesting lectures. You don't need to attend class, but make sure you do all writing assignments (there is a lot) & get the class notes.
Nice and willing to answer questions but seems very unorganized overall in class. Her marking does not make sense, especially on papers but she is willing to look it over again if you ask her to. The material is dry and if you are not interested in the material to begin with, I suggest only coming to class when she gives in-class assignments.
She is a nice person however, the material she covers is much mored difficult than the material covered by the other instructor for the same course.
She is quite nice and covers the material. Her expectations are pretty easy to follow. She does not require you to go to every class, but I would reccommend it since there are occasional in-class assignments and you can get extra marks for class participation.
Tonya is very likable and kind. Her teaching is to the point, as are her expectations for assignments. That being said, you still need to put in the effort to receive a good mark. I enjoyed this class and I think she is a great prof!
I found Tonya's class to be horrible. It was extremely boring and unnecessary to attend. She took over a month to mark some of our assignments and never answered her emails. I would not recommend anyone take her class. She was my least favourite teacher throughout my entire semester.
Great Prof!
She is soo nice! I loved this class. There are no tests and she makes science so interesting!
Very helpful but very slow with feedback
Overall her class is easy but it took her over two weeks to reply to an email of mine regarding an assignment and her lectures are so dry and have nothing to do with assignments.
She was alright, nice lady. The class itself is easy enough but she absolutely loves making the class do group work. A LOT of it. She's also a very slow marker so don't expect your grades back until a month later. The lecture itself is kind of boring and not challenging but it's an easy A if you keep up with the work.
Tonya loves this class. She is fun, likeable and really does want her students to do well. Instructions are clear, marks are fair, and the work is fair. I would recommend Tonya for this class. She makes the class interesting. When she ends class early, use that time to talk to her - she's knowledgable and passionate! Makes for good conversation!
Tonya is really knowledgeable about this class, and teaches it well. With standard effort, most people should get a good grade in this class. Sometimes she wastes class time, by dragging out certain projects, so those are easy days with easy participation marks.
Decent Prof, she tries to make it fun and interesting. She marks really slow, didn't receive most marks until the term was already over. Instructions are clear and marks are easy to get if you put in a bit of effort. She assigns a lot of group work and topics are often assigned at the last minute so you have to scramble to get it done on time.
I love love love Dr. Mousseau! She is an amazing prof. She s clear on her lectures/discussions and answers some questions by her students.. although sometimes, she doesn't expand her answers. It is easy go get an A with her as she marks stuff fairly.
I really enjoyed having Tonya. Her classes were very lecture heavy but they weren't boring for the most part and content on the lectures were put on tests, so test preparation was easy. Assignments were pretty basic and straight forward. She's very caring and tries to help and answer questions the best she can! I would definitely recommend her.
Tonya is a quiet sweet woman. Overall I thought she taught the class very well. She does a lot of short group assignments as well as getting you to fill in her lecture notes so it is important to attend the class. She doesn't do a midterm, she does 4 short quizzes instead but the final is cumulative and all written.
Lectures, slides, & exams were straightforward. I recommend coming to class bc some questions on the exam are not on the slides. Her exams are 25% MC & the rest is written so know your stuff! She makes it extremely easy to understand topics & is very kind. She gave a reasonable amount of assignments which help w lectures + understanding topics
Tonya is such a lovely person. Her classes are incredibly easy (Grade 10 science and math) it's kinda ridiculous that they have to reteach us this stuff but Tonya makes it bearable. There's lots of practice sheets and online reading questions that you have to do but they're all easy and help with learning.
Tonya is so cute!! She makes the class super understandable and easy. Consists of reading assignments online and then a small short quiz, dont worry pretty easy. Do the work and you'll be set. She's super nice and always answers questions. Favorite girl prof so far
Tonya is a very caring and passionate prof. She provides amazing feedback and gives very fair marks with a clear rubric on what she wants. She is always open to answering questions and loves it when the class participates and asks questions during her lectures. Overall, the course is an easy A course and Tonya makes the course entertaining and fun.
Honestly she's fine, but she is sooooooo slow to return assignment, quiz and test grades. Also, her math knowledge is sometimes shaky, don't ask her anything that doesn't come directly from her lesson plan, because there's a good chance that she doesn't know.
Overall a kind women however she will take weeks to mark assignments and quizzes. Scattered participation marks so attendance mandatory even though the entire course could be done without attending a lecture. Easy A if you have a very basic knowledge of math and science at a high school level.
Although she's a nice lady, she marks quizzes and assignments so slow. She doesn't reply to your emails until the day of your next class and her marking criteria and explaining of how to do an assignment is unclear. You can get a low mark on an assignment and you won't know why. Easy A if you self teach but would not recommend her as a professor.
I absolutely love Tonya. She was good and she pay attentions to her students. I took GNED1101 with her and I wasn't very good at math, and I ended up with an A-. The material was straightforward, and she explained things clearly in class. Highly recommend
Tonya is so nice. Her lectures go hand in hand with the material on the exams. As long as you go to class, take notes and study them you'll get an A. No trick questions, she will never ask something she didn't go over in class. Overall great prof, I would take her class again and recommend her to everyone.
Tonya is a nice person who teaches an interesting course. Her teaching style is simple and clear, but her tests are NOT. The final exam was completely unfair. 35 questions put together to equal 7 marks, MC was almost all "a,b, or c" then "a and b" or "a b and c". Just mean. She obviously didn't want us to succeed. Midterms were mostly opinion too.
She does not respond to emails and is hard to get a hold of outside class hours. She gives incomplete powerpoints for lecture notes. She takes a long time to give marks back. I did not find her helpful with answering questions.
Great prof and quizzes are easy as long as you do the homework. The only downside is that she takes FOREVER to mark simple quizzes and slow on updating marks.
Tonya was so nice and knowledgeable and her tests were always very fair! if you pay attention to examples she gives and what questions she continuously asks you can skip memorizing everything. she was also approachable and made the class very comfortable to ask questions. would recommend her to my friends
Tonya is kind and caring. However, I get sleepy in her lectures. I also found that she depends on the textbook 99% of the time, so if it is not in the textbook she usually doesn't know the answer. She takes longer to mark quizzes and tests. Attendance is mandatory because you get marks for participation. Do the assignments and quizzes will be easy
Professor Tonya is such an amazing prof. She is kind , caring and excellent prof. She explains complicated concepts in simple way to students. I found her lectures very useful and interesting. If you attend the class and take notes, you would get an A in this course.
Overall, she is a nice person. Had her for both Bio 1204 and GNED 1101. Emailing her is usually not very effective as she tends to reply late, furthermore she takes moons to mark her tests. Over half of the class dropped after the 1st mid term, after the second mid term she said and I quote "We'll see how many are there left after this"
Tonya is a super caring prof, but she goes through lectures far too quickly. It was to the point where pretty much everyone in the class had to teach themselves. She also focuses fair too much on math aspects compared to science, even though the final is split 50/50. She is a fair marker, but takes super long to give you your grades back.
Loved Tonya! 1101 can be quite a bore but she made it bearable. I liked how fast she did lectures, it was quick but thorough. There are a lot of homework. And they are long. Quizzes have been fair. Shes a friendly face on campus. Okay crazy but she remembers your name. Which I love because not many profs do that.
Tonya is a good prof, she cares about her students. But sometimes her lectures are just reading off of the slides. Her notes are taken straight out of the textbook, and she moves very quickly. Just put in the work and you'll be fine, but be prepared to do tons of homework and self-teaching.
Tonya is a great professor. She lets you know what is most likely going to be on mid-terms and the final. She also cares about her students and actively looks for methods that will help her students learn the best. Her lectures are neat, organized, and have exactly what you need to know on them (They are fill-in-the-blank, so show up for lectures)
Tonya is great! I am not a science student and I really enjoyed her class. She makes you read the entire textbook (a short novel). She breaks up the chapters and makes it enjoyable. Her lectures are extremely informative, fun, with lots of videos and images that aid in what she is trying to get across. L.O.V.E.D her. Take her class!!!
Biol 1204 is a content heavy class, but Tonya makes it as clear as possible using videos and diagrams. There are iclicker questions for marks, but as long as you participate, you get a guaranteed 50% on them. Her tests are pretty fair, but this class relies heavily on your memorization skills!
Tonya is a very kind person, I enjoyed taking her class! In 1205 we had to write an annotated bibliography and then a poster to follow up with it. Reading assignments are due every week but they are very easy!
I personally really liked Tonya as a bio professor, her lectures were all PowerPoints that she would post on blackboard but throughout the powerpoint there were blanks in which you would only know from the lecture. So going to class is mandatory in order to fill in the blanks in the PowerPoints. She was decently good teacher I enjoyed her class!
I had her for Bio twice and she was my favourite, so sweet and understanding. Always had something interesting to say. Her tests were fair and stuck to what we learned in class.
My favourite professor. Tonya asks how your day has been and reminds you to give yourself a break. Her lectures are asynchronous, so you do have to keep yourself organized. She makes her expectations clear when it comes to grading criteria. Honestly as long as you put in effort to learn and keep up with assignments, class is an easy A.
Tonya is very kind, but I feel like online was hard with her. There were a few weeks where she did not post on time, she posted days later. This was very unfair to students with busy schedules. I understand its a mix of teaching styles, but I still expect content on time. She mostly reads slides word for word. A few lectures were just youtube vids.
She was very disorganized for online classes, as a few of her lectures were not posted when they should have been. She just reads off the slides and once posted another professors youtube lecture because she was so behind. That being said, I would still take her classes because it was VERY easy and I've had other classes with her that were okay:)
She was very disorganized for online classes, as she did not always post lectures on time. She mostly just reads the slides and once posted another professors youtube lecture because she was so behind. That being said, I would still take her classes as it was VERY easy and I thought her in person class last year was good. She's a friendly face!!
She was a great prof. She would post lectures and you would have to watch them during your own time (async class), the lectures were very interactive and easy to follow. She is an excellent grader, just read and watch the videos, you will pass easily. Optional meeting times once every week, but lasted 10 mins. Very easy and enjoyable class.
There were no lectures but she did seem like a good prof. Its hard to judge someone you don't have any interaction with. Course material wasn't that easy but because of open book online exams things were very easy. Over-all its a boring class with easy exam n easy A. I felt that Tonya doesn't like taking online classes but she was reasonable.
she is by far the worst prof i have had. She never answers her emails and she didn't actually teach, she just took Jon's lectures and read off slides so if that's your learning style go for it. The class is super easy but she is the actual worst, everything is super disorganized with her and its like being taught by a brick wall.
Tonya seems like a nice professor but I find her to be quite lazy. She just uses Jon's lectures and we learn the material that way. I appreciate how things are easy to find on the Blackboard but she takes FOREVER in marking. At this point I just hope she gets everything I have handed in marked by the end of the semester.
She is amazing. Exams are very easy and she is an easy marker too. If you watch the lectures posted and did the weekly assignments then midterms and final will be super easy.
Tonya is flat out lazy. Yeah sure, she's "nice" - great. She didn't teach us anything. She used another profs lecture videos (that you watched on your own time) & when it came to her lecture period, she did a small review of said videos. I deeply regret taking this course with her. Take Jon Mee instead if you have the chance.
This is class is NOT EASY AT ALL. Its very difficult to well in. The exams for this class were VERY HARD. She gave us around an hour and 20 mins whereas the other profs class got 3 hours for the same exam. Take this class if you need it for credit otherwise completely avoid it!
I'm probably the last person to be writing bad things because i always give people a lot of chances but.. she really just pushed me to my limit. avoid taking Tonya for this course. She did not teach, she just used Jon Mee's lectures, gave unnecessary weekly assignments, no resources, last minute exam information, does not mark, etc.
The other class had 6 hours for the final when we had 3, for the same test, written by Jon Mee. She didn't even write the test and gave us half the time to do it. The worst.
She is very sweet, I liked her but the course is tough. The time limit on the exams was very constraining and the questions were pretty difficult ('choose multiple options' type of questions) The only grades are 2 midterms and the final, so you cant know where you stand in the course until later. Lots of memorization and critical thinking.
Tonya is one of the best bio professors I've had. She makes her expectations clear and points out things of significance for exams/assignments. You can tell she really cares by the way she asks about our day, wants to memorize names, etc. Showing up to class wasn't mandatory since she posts lectures online but she made them interesting!!
Tonya is probably top 10% profs at this uni. She cares about her students, it's obvious. I'm willing to bet you can't find many profs that are better than Tonya, seriously! You'd be hard-pressed to find profs that stand out like Tonya. She treats her students like adults and expects reasonable work but marks really fairly. A+ teacher
awesome teacher, clear on instructions and lectures, very approachable. The content in the course was very easy and you can expect the same type of questions in lectures to be in the tests.
she is a sweet person but this course was tough and very lecture heavy. There were only 2 midterms and a final for grading and she marks really slowly. She also does not give them back after marking, you only know your mark and not what you got wrong. Lectures are boring and drag on but she does memory exercises which help sometimes.
Tonya is the sweetest lady ever. She is helpful and answers every question thoroughly and will make sure everyone understands the material. I enjoy math, so this class was fun for me, but she does a great job of explaining and engaging everybody. I recommend going to class as each unit builds off of the others. Overall great class and amazing prof!
I was nervous to take a course with her due to the mixed reviews here, but I am glad I did. Tonya is a great prof. She makes sure you understand the material (although the course load is very heavy) but also makes class interesting. She is also very nice and you can tell she deeply cares about the well-being of her students. Tests were open book.
Tonya was a great instructor and I enjoyed taking her class. She was incredibly kind, respectful of her students, and passionate. She studies bugs, which personally is not for me, but I enjoyed the stories that she shared from her career. Honestly, if you put in the effort you should have no issues with her. Fair marker, fair teacher.
do not take her class she never answer her emails, her lectures are 90 percent filler content and if she feels like class will end earlier she will start to waste time to make lecture longer.
Her lectures are always cut short, and her slides really lack main clear concepts. She will tell you "interesting" facts about bugs instead of the material that you will be tested on. In terms of test prep, she provides little to nothing to prepare you for tests. No study guide, won't even tell you which chapter is weighted or what to focus on
Good teacher, explains everything well. sometimes moves a little fast but goes back and slows down when you let her know shes going fast. Overall pretty good, only thing is she doesn't fill in the blanks on her slides when she posts them.
If you can, take another prof. Tonya is not bad but only does when she needs to get done and shows little care for the students. She often posts lecture slides with majority of blanks that require u to attend class, which is smart. The overall course itself is manageable but very test heavy.
I didn't complete this course so I am only going to provide feedback on what I learned for the amount that I was enrolled. I thought this class was enjoyable at first, but later on it seemed to take more time then my core classes. The proff is nice but it seems like she has a very monotone voice most of the time which makes lectures plain and long.
All in all Tonya was an organized, straight-forward prof. It's obvious she has experience teaching the class and is comfortable doing so. The material may not be the most interesting but for a GNED it's not bad. The grade was all tests/quizzes that had clear expectations/grading process. I would recommend her as a prof for sure.
I appreciate professor Mousseau's caring and respectful approach to a range of students. As a student who struggles with math and science, this course helped me learn a lot of things to succeed. That being said, some tests are really heavy and you need to study well. She supplements learnings with some example. Some slides are given w/o answers.
She is a pretty good prof, a lot of this material is already built from high school with a sprinkle of new material, which not very hard if you pay attention to her lectures. Most of her slides and lectures have already the answers on the test. Just pay attention and easy A! She also answers emails fast and cares about her students!
Tonya is a very kind professor who cares about her students. Her notes had a fill-in-the-blank format so you had to show up to class to get all the information, but otherwise it was quite organized. She took a little long to mark the exams, but was also accessible outside of class as long as you contacted her way ahead of time.
I really enjoyed Intro Bio with Tonya. Her slides are informative and detailed. She explains concepts clearly and is helpful when answering questions. Her exams are very fair and you know exactly what to expect when going into them. I would recommend her as a professor if you are intimidated by biology and want concepts effectively broken down.
2101, not 1204. Dr. Mousseau might be the sweetest prof I've ever had—she even bought our entire class food once. She's very accessible outside of class and really wants you to do well. Her lectures can sometimes feel a bit slow because shes very calm and concise, but that's not a terrible thing, she explains things very well & wants you to get it!
Very good professor, people say she's very boring n mundane but she explains everything so well and the slides are easy and he goes in detail to explain everything, has a great teaching style. Also cares an students and gives treats at the end of the semester.
Although the course is fairly heavy Tonya was really good at keeping her students up to pace and she is one of the few profs that actually do review in class which I really appreciated. Had a bit of a tough time at the beginning in her lectures as she talks very slow but it actually really helped me understand the theory in the lectures even better
Tonya is AMAZING! She truly cares about you, and if you want to do well, she'll help you get there. The first midterm took me off guard but I talked with her and she was just the sweetest when explaining what I did wrong. She explains the hard parts of the course slowly and clearly, and makes them super easy to understand. HIGHLY recommend!
You will have to buy more stuff on top of your tuition and second hand textbook. Mindtap does not give reminders and the assignments are buried in the site she requires you to use and buy. Not user friendly, and even if you managed to get the textbook second hand you'll just have to buy it again it's dumb. Assigns homework before teaching it too.
As someone who struggles with math, I was worried about this class, but she made it accessible and easy to understand. She is also available outside of class and responds quickly to emails. Her tests aren't easy, but she is a very fair grader and gives you lots of opportunities to increase your grade.
she is so sweet but she does not prepare you for what the midterm looks like, her pop quizzes were so different from the midterm, the average was 65, so take that as you will, the class is easy though, study and you'll be fine, there is only one midterm so be mindful of that, and ngl it was kinda car considering I studied a lot
I love her! She is so sweet and does well at explaining course material. She has lots of mandatory homework that gets graded, but I actually like it because it forces me to study and makes the test easier. Plus its free easy grade lol. While her lectures do not 100% correspond to tests, as long as you attend and do your work it's easy to get an A.
I took GNED 1101 with Tonya and she is one of the nicest teachers I have ever met. She makes the content easy to understand and her class was genuinely very enjoyable. Tonya is very smart and incredibly understanding, If you have the option to take her class definitely take it!! (I also never used the text book)
honestly she's not good i can't lie, definitely a very sweet lady but not a good prof for biol1202 she's definitely more into bugs and insects!
Tonya was a sweet prof and has a great sense of the course and answering questions, but her lectures consist of just the slideshows she posts, as well as an app and a website that she requires students to purchase. They do bump your grade though, as there is only 1 midterm you are marked on. The final was ok, not too bad.
Dr. Mousseau is an extremely caring individual. Out of all of my classes, this was the one class that I didn't feel intimidated by. She is very soft spoken and takes time to explain the concepts even if the concepts are straight forward. Would recommend!!
Professor Tonya Mousseau is a fantastic teacher! Her lectures are clear and easy to understand, (that I barely used the textbook). She really cares about her students and provides lots of chances to boost your grade with online quizzes and assignments. Definitely a GPA booster! I highly recommend her.
A very nice and easygoing professor. Very thorough and clear with her teaching. The topics aren't too hard but she makes sure to explain them as detailed as possible. Her slides are great but fill in the blank so it's important to go to class. However I do wish there were practice tests (or just more practice resources in general) available.
