Teacher is unhelpful does not explain stuff and grades unfairly.

He is totally unhelpful, instead of explaining he likes to complicate. The class is based on him asking questions w/out even going over the theory. Even if you're good at math, don't expect to do well in his classes. Try to avoid. You can only do well, if you took Calc before, preferably at a different school/ in a different country.

He's just horrible!!!!! even if you are a math person (or good at sciences in general) don't expect to do well in his class. It's just a nighmare! Calc2 is not easy in and of itself, but the concepts are not that hard..he makes it extremely hard! He test are just pure nightmare..AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!

Where to start..he tries to be nice but it doesn't work. He tries to be funny but it turns out rather pathetic.He wants to teach but instead gets frustrated and rude. I believe he has best intentions but the result is totally oppossite. I regret taking this class with him. It's true that he discourages from taking other math courses.

Some of things he is teaching, he doesn't even know if it's right. He makes so many mistakes that it confuses me. He always talk about "wax on and wax off" what the heck does that suppose to mean?!! Also, I never understand his "change" or "chocolate" problems, which he says its an easier way to solve problem.

awful...absolutely awful. i already took math115 and didn't do bad when i originally took it. then i was MIA from math class for a while so i decided to take 115 again to boost my gpa and refresh my math skills. awful! he's doesn't even understand what he's doing and his accent makes it worse!

he's so bad, couldn't even speak English well. Always repeat" are we together?" I worked all my ass in his class, did all his homework 3 times but don't still get his test, his test ask more concepts that are useless

This professor is totally not hot at all but spicy on tests. he can't speak english well and always repeats "does everybody follow me, are we together." omg, i can't stand it anymore, it's the worst nightmare, and when i ask him questions, he doesn't even get my questions, i don't know why umass boston's hiring him. he won't give any points extra.

i could not understand a word he said. i had to drop the class because i could not understand him. also he goes very quickly through the work and does not explain very well

A terrible teacher. Teaching focus is solely on theory and rarely show students how to apply it to the questions. He also only tests students on theory - you have to explain math in WORDS!

Avoid at all costs. Does not explain clearly in class. Refuses to work out problems requested by students. After class help did not clarify any of the subject matter. - I will be forced to take this class over with another teacher. Even if I pass this class, I will not be confident that I have sound understanding of the material.

Worst professor I've ever had! Avoid taking this class. He doesn't work out problems and only cares about theory, but on tests you need to know every step to work out the problem. He doesn't give partial credit, help students, answer questions. If one person understands, then he doesn't care if the rest of the class is lost. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!

worst teacher ever at umass told all my friend to not take his class and they didn't listen therefore they failed so if students want to pass math this is not the professor to learn from

He gives out a guideline for chapters/homework to be done for the semester and expects it to be done on time. his tests are kinda weird looking if you haven't understood your lessons entirely. students class averages are usually in the 50-70's, which the final grade end up being scaled. take an easy math course with him, you'll get an A easily.

A horrible teacher! He spends most of the time scaring students like a tyrant. Keeps telling us to drop the class if we don't understand something rather than explaining so his students do well. HORRIBLE! now, i am doing self study. he doesn't explain problems clearly. just a waste of time attending his class because i never learned anything yet. this never happened to me, having a professor who's not so helpful at all... now i am so worried about my GPA... therefore, i will NEVER ever recommend this professor!

This was just bad all around the entire class failed a class as easy as Statistics because of how badly he taught.

Horrible.Only one person got a 60% on the first test everyone else failed. Teaches concepts instead of how to actualy do any type of pre cal problems.Actuallty said a "tutor cant help you" to entire class becuse of his methods.What he thinks is best clearly isnt by example of the low test scores

I have never withdrawn for a course before, nor have I ever failed a test. But in his class I have failed and am about to withdraw so it doesnt affect my GPA. He doesnt explain anything. He is a horrible professor and hard to understand. Only take his course if you already know the material.

Do not take any of his classes. The professor is extremely smart, but has ability to teach. Does not allow any types breaks i.e. re-takes or extra credit. Hard to understand with his accents as well as the wording he chooses to explain problems.

Absolutely no organization in the way he presents the material. Honestly, the material is not that difficult, but he makes it impossible to learn. I'd say nearly everyone in both of his stats classes got below a 60 and its because of him. DO NOT TAKE, he is by far the worst professor I've ever had.

english isn't his first language. He is very unhelpful. He doesn't go over homeowrk. He isn't clear when he teaches.

Just avoid this professor at all costs. Hard to understand and grades very oddly. Take this class with another professor for the love of god.

Do not take this class. The guy does not know how to teach, he get's so far off topic with his useless stories and "jokes". He never answers a question with a straight answer. Tutoring will not help b/c he has a specific set way to complete each concept. And he constantly repeats "Are you with me?" This class is not worth it, find another prof.

He hardly gives partial credit even for the simplest mistakes you make yet he emphasizes we work the problem or no credit. If we don't show a step, he takes off like half of the points from the problem. Pls take another math course.

Avoiddddddd. The worst!!!!! Not helpful at all. His concept of etching is not helpful to college students. You will find yourself studying so hard and receiving a 20% on exams. Office hours are pointless. Non of the quizzes count to help ur grade. He will give everyone. D- just to pass everyone. But that doesn't help your gpa. He is selfish!

I can't explain how terrible Poweigha is. He teaches concepts but test you on math problems. He takes off points for skipping steps in your answers but he skips steps when showing how to work out a problem. His excuse is that you're expected to know how he arrived to that answer. FOR YOUR GPA AND MONEY, DO NOT TAKE! HE IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME.

This is THE worst math class that I have ever taken. You spend hours on assignments that are impossible to do cause he doesn't teach the topics of it, just mentions broad topics and expects the class to understand. He blames it on the students being lazy and not his lack of being a teacher. He isn't there for office hours and doesn't answer emails.

Horrible teacher, his tests and quizzes are nothing like the material he teaches in class. Very vague explanations of math concepts and I do not recommend taking his class.

The single most confusing teacher I've ever come in contact with. Lectures on the broadest topics, then gives worksheets and tests that seem impossible.

He doesn't explain the material. If you end up with him, i highly suggest a tutor, using the textbook, and anything on youtube can help.

This class consisted of four take homes: "tests" & "worksheets." At first I assumed it was impossible to fail this class, until I received the first test. Each one was extremely difficult, you could not access the answers anywhere. Most of the students would gather before class to cheat from each others papers. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

This class was torture. He does not give you any information for testsworksheets and does half a problem and "expects you to know how to finish it." He's terrible! Do not take his class. It will ruin your GPA and makes it clear he doesn't care.

Super unclear with his teaching and grading system, very hard to understand, no consistency whatsoever, had to drop this class so that it wouldn't bring down my GPA

Worst professor I've ever had .. & its my third year. Only grades in the class are complicated tests that look nothing like what he "taught" you. In class, he takes forever to get to the point & spends more time making jokes then actually teaching specific problems. Math department really needs to reconsider him. Have fun teaching yourself!

Worst professor I've ever had. Only grades are 3 tests and a final. The three tests are take home, therefore he uses that to justify making them unnecessarily difficult. Had to drop so it wouldn't affect my gpa. Might put in complaint to math dept.

This guy has made me reconsider my whole life of numbers. He talks at the board while writing numbers and you can't even see what he is writing until he moves onto the next problem which he will immediately begin right after. He will ask if there are any questions before anyone has even finished writing.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken, and I am a nursing major so that is saying something. NEVER take this professor. I went to office hours every week for clarification and he still failed me and made fun of my grade to the point where I just withdrew and will have to take another class next semester instead. Take ANY other professor.

Don't take ANY of his classes in the spring because it will ruin your whole spring break and summer

Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Even if I wanted to study, I didn't know where to begin. For lessons he would just write things on the board without really explaining it. I had to drop the class because I knew I was going to fail.

Professor Poweigha is a nice person and is very smart, but is a horrible teacher. He humiliates students who asks questions that to him seem obvious. He doesn't give homework, so there is little opportunity to practice what you learn in class and get feedback. He doesn't act like he cares about your grades or if you learn in class. Poweigha knows his math, but he does not know how to teach students. I honestly don't think I learned anything from this class.

I had to take this class again with a different professor because he was too hard and I didn't learn anything, and I have already learned so much more. His class is too hard for no reason and now I can clearly understand everything. He acts like you already know the basics and skips them even though it's an introductory course

Stay away from this guy unless you want your gpa to drop. And on top of how hard his class is his take home exams are far beyond brutal... This class has ruined my life. Its extremely difficult for an entrance to major class.

Way too difficult, class is difficult to understand because he never finishes the examples and hes always talking towards the board so you dont really understand. He also covers the board as hes writing on it so you cant even see what hes writting. Dont take the class

Teaching style is extraordinarily unclear. Material is not conveyed effectively. In order to do well I had to rely on the statistics I remembered from high school. BEWARE THE TESTS. They may be take home, but they ask questions about applying concepts covered in class in ways that he never explains, and he expects you to randomly figure it out.

He was nice but he was difficult to understand. He assumed everyone in class knew the math basics but unfortunately not everyone did and it through class a bit off for me as well as for a few other students I was studying with.

AVOID! sloppy at teaching. examples in class are easy, On the exam he changes the whole setup and its extremely difficult to do even if its take home exam. If we couldnt learn from him and looked fro outside help such as the internet he does not allow on exam. If the notations are diff. he calls it foreign and marks question wrong. not even partia

In my opinion what makes a good Prof is their ability to pass their knowledge of the subject to strengthen their knowledge in that subject. Know, that he is the opposite. He wants his students to replicate his methodology, down to the variable. That may sound light but, when you dont get a concept you cannot look to the internet or friends.

Avoid this guy at all costs. His lectures were awful! They felt very haphazardly thrown together, and he wasnt very good at explaining things. If you take his class, be prepared to learn most of the topics from the textbook. You wont take away much from lecture.

He was one of the worst professors I ever had, especially because the exams had to be done EXACTLY his way and there was no other way to pass. He also wrote lightly on the chalkboard, so it was always hard to read his notes, and his lectures never made any sense. He also hints that you're dumb if you ask him a question that you find difficult.

Did not experience a clear teaching style and did not experience consistent grading. One day an answer would be right and the next it would be wrong. Didn't know if the whole class was getting 90%+ on a test or 30-50% on a test. Unpredictable and unclear. I was truly shocked when I passed this course.
