I wouldn't suggest Gordi if you aren't a math wiz. He doesn't answer questions throughly and the tests are hard!
This teacher is the worst math teacher I have ever had in my life. He grades homework very unfairly, laughs at students who are failing, and his tests are unbelievably difficult and even a math genious will fail. Don't take him if you can help it, he'll ruin your GPA and your semester will be bad!!
Mr. Gordi has a nice personality, though makes fun of students. NEVER answers your emails. Is flexible in correcting your math software errors. BUT the real problem: HE fell behind and rushed last 3 chapters which hurt my grade. He is a good person, just not too good a teacher. Try someone else 1st.
This man was the worst math teacher I have ever encountered. The first thing he told our class was that he wasn't supposed to teach it and that Statistics wasn't his strongest subject. He was unhelpful and didn't seem to know what he was talking about.
I thought he was a great teacher. He explained everything well. I think he was one of the best math teachers ive had.
Mr. Gordi was a very good teacher in my opinion, and I suggest him to others, provided you pay attention and don't mess around -- the only ones in my class who didn't care for him were the ones who were too busy chatting and missing several days. Gordi is helpful when you have questions, and explains things clearly, again, provided you listen.
I took Gordi last semester for Math 50 and was very pleased, however my opinion of his teaching skills have dropped after taking him over the summer. I found him to be too "by the book" and unwilling to explain things in a way a beginner can understand. He treated us all as if we were already trained in algebra, though it was a beginner's class.

You can't understand this guy. he laughs at himself all the time..and no one knows why. He makes everything harder than it has to be. I wouldn't advise taking any course with him.
This teacher is by far the worst math teacher I've ever had. Everything I learned in highschool was the same, and yet he took everything I learned and confused me. He refused to answer questions, made fun of those that were failing, and was very unfair in his grading. Unless you're a suckup that can smooze the teacher well don't waste your time.
He teaches the highest math class at AVC so he leaves the small, important parts out..asuming you will know them. he doesnt make sense and if you do any problems a different way than the way he showed you, he will mark it wrong.he is not open to other ways of learning than his own and makes it very difficult to learn.also makes fun of those failing
This is one of the worst instructors I've ever had. He made fun of me when I approched him for help and assumes you already know everything. I couldn't ask questions because he would laugh at me. His tests were hard and confusing. I was lost in the material and confused thanks to him My advice, don't take this man unless you want to fail! i warned

He is the worst teacher and if you miss one class you failed the rest of the class. He did not help one on one with any student. He did not care if you pass or not, he thinks that you should have know everything that he knows before taking the class.
He's methods are just complicated, do not push or have effort's to help you in any way, no motivation no realshionship with his students and way to serious.
worst teacher ever. is as clear as a Quadriplegic running teacher. lot all of my computer work half way through the sem. he said i had to re-do all of it. dont take this guy
hes an idiot he contradidted him self almost every class
Horrible teacher. He seems to know what he is doing but is incapable of sharing that knowledge with his students. Only 1 person is passing out of a class of 26
salam
He is the best teacher I have ever I had!! I don't know what anyone is talking about. The more pressure a teacher gives the more the student learns. I have learned alot from this instructor.
A very capable professor
Hard to follow
really great teacher
VERY BORING! i took the computer based class(educo) which i kinda liked but the teacher put me to sleep, no one really paid any attention to him , alot of people spent their class time on my space
HORRIBLE! He was completely unhelpful when I went to him after the first test, his take on encouragement was "drop the class." Not there to help.
very good at teaching, but very poor in listening to the students who need help the most.
worst teacher ever! he is very discourging. if i only had him as a choice to learn from i would not take the class at ALL. please take someone who speak clear and cares about the students.
Moves at his own pace not really at the pace of the class. Homework is resonable as are the tests. The actual lectures were dry and it became hard to stay motivated.
Nice guy but honestly doesn't care if u get it or not. He assumes you already know the math which is stupid or else I wouldn't be complaining. All he says is to review the sections in the book like if the book itself is going to help...sigh...take someone else plus..he sounds like Dr.Evil..which is entertaining in the boring class
Calculus Class - Avoid him at all cost; Even the learning center can't figure out his homework problems assigned. Think that he wishes everyone to drop. Started 19 down to 7. No one in class has a good grade.
I've taken his class during the summer. He's a nice teacher but he's not helpful. Hell, I have to go to the Learning Center to understand the Math problems. Please do not take this teacher when choosing Math teahcers.
Homework is few very hard problems only. Not reccomended if you don't know calculus yet.
Plain and simple, just don't take ANY of his classes. A good teacher makes sure all his/her students understand the material...he on the other hand doesn't give a damn.
I overslept and missed one of only four tests, and he didn't mark me down. He removed the lowest 10 homework grades of the year. Nice guy. Laughs at your jokes (and his own.) Not entirely clear, but happy to explain if you ask.
the most GAWD AWFUL calc teacher ever!!! his hw problems are few but impossible. lectures are monotonous and sleep inducing. only for those that can teach themselves! do not expect to pass unless you are truly dedicated to learning on your own!
I don't understand why he has so many bad ratings. I have taken him for math 50, and now math 60, and don't find a problem with him at all! I am taking the educo class, and find it easy and useful to do the homework on your own time on your own computer. If you ask for help hes more then willing to explain things to you. I think hes a great teacher
i did not like his attitude
he takes his time teaching it and makes sure every student understand.
he is an ahhhhhh-mazing teacher. he makes sure that every student understands. and if you need extra help. he even stays after class with you. hes the BoMB
I dont get why people are hate-ers! i think if you show that you are wanting to comprehend the work he will make sure you do. he is the type of teacher thats wants you to take initiative and try to get you to think out of the box. he challenges you to think differently and is ALWAYS there to help you out. I give him A+ across the board
Be warned: Prof. Gordi's attitude towards homework isn't the usual "crank out dozens of easy problems". Instead, there will be relatively few problems but they will generally be more difficult than questions on the test. I actually like this -- some students don't.
difficult
hes one of my favorite teachers, i hate math, and im bad at it but taking his class helped me feel like i was finally good at it
helpful
Going in I thought he was going to be a harsh grader and a bad teacher with a thick accent, but as the semester went on I got used to the accent & he became my favorite teacher. He really knows his stuff and if you get stuck GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He helped me on the homework without complaint or condescension! He's actually very nice and funny.
This teacher is super helpful! His accent is NOT bad if you dont understand what he is teaching just ask him and he WILL help. He's funny too! I enjoyed this class and i hate math.
Very nice (funny) teacher! We used online source for turning in hw.. which allowed me to constantly improve my grade! no book needed! His accent isn't noticeable, and best of all he knows his stuff! gives study guides etc! overall: class for those who hate math! (allows you to move at youre own pace)
He's a great teacher and very helpful when it comes to learning math. I'm not good at math at all and I got an A! He answers all your questions to your satisfaction and he's got a great sense of humor. Accent is not a factor.
Awesomeeeeeeee teacher! Very helpful and definitely knows his stuff. He's such a laid back guy, doesn't care about attendance as long as you're on top of your stuff. Pay attention and do the work and if you don't get it, ASK FOR HELP. He's all ears. Definitely easy A!
He is a great math teacher!! All your hwk is online and uif you dont like your score you have 3 chances to complete it!! I recommend you take him .hes very helopful, great sense of humor. Best math teacher ive taken soo far:)
He is a great teacher, I would recommend him to anyone. I took for a summer math class and he was amazing!!!! He explains things and answers emails rather quickly. I loved his class. (: he's very helpful. Made class super easy, gave practice tests went over them in class, told us what would or wouldn't be on the test. If he's easy during the summer imagine how easy he is during a regular semester. After all he is the chairman of the math department.
One of the top math professors at AVC. He explains everything wonderfully, and will go over something as many times as you need to understand it. Not sure why his rating is so low. There are no surprises on the test either. Offers practice tests-which he goes over-and are very helpful. Definitely recommend him.
Loved this teacher! I suck at math and he made everything so simple, he does use Educosoft so if your not good at online work he is not the teacher for you.
Mr. Gordi makes Math so simple to understand. However, he does use Educosoft for homework and online Chapter tests. The work is a bit harder on there, but it definitely helps you for the tests and quizzes you take in class.
Took him for Summer. The class was way too fast and he seemed annoyed when students asked too many questions. I've had better math teachers then him. I will not be taking him again.
Bad, not a great teacher. :(
He is really smart and I thought he was a great teacher when I took this class 2 years ago. Now I need geometry for trig and am looking forward to this summer. If he gets annoyed its because people ask really dumb questions. I was annoyed as a student.
He gets upset after you ask him questions, skips steps when teaching, and does not recognize all the effort his students are putting in to pass his class. There a very few that do. Homework is extensive and does not help with the tests, and he makes the same mistakes his students do when working on his own problems-but then continues to dock points
He's very tough and smart. Has the greatest ass I've ever seen. His homework is really hard and his tests are confusing. Overall he's good
Hes a funny guy and a really chill professor, but he will screw you hard on test. you will review the class before test and when u show up for the test he will slide on problems that were never talked about in class. He put a question on a test from the chapter that we were starting the next week so nobody knew what to do. Happy to be Done honestly
Super chill and funny guy. He sometimes gets lost in problems while teaching them. He throws you complete curve balls on the tests. He doesn't give very much homework so you have to do a lot of the book work on your own to really learn. I pretty much taught myself. He's not a bad teacher, just not the best.
I like Gordi but not as a professor. My biggest complaint is that he is out of touch with his student's experience of the class. Homework and tests deviated from the book a lot, which threw me off several times. I found his class grading psychologically taxing when I usually hold my own in tough classes. Some people did do well so you be the judge.
Avoid teacher for calculus at all costs. Not clear, doesn't really use the book; you're better off teaching yourself. His tests are impossible, and what is tested on isn't what he covers well, if at all. I understood the concepts, and the work, but his tests and quizzes made me get a low grade. I recommend another teacher!!!!
This is one of the most difficult classes I've ever taken. The material isn't too hard to understand. However, you can understand the material and still get a bad grade because the tests are so much more difficult. We reviewed material the last class before the test but it wasn't much help. Tests and quizzes are also the only graded work.
Worst professor I have ever had. Do NOT take if you actually want to pass the class unless you know how to do everything yourself. Tests are super hard; all word problems mostly. Subject is hard, but it seems he makes it extra hard. No homework grade. No study guide. I don't really think he cares if you actually pass. Does not care about students.
I honestly really enjoyed the subject but this professor does not give a rat's hat about the students. I had to teach myself almost everything and his tests do have curve balls on them. I really don't get why he hasn't been fired yet because it really seems like he hates his job.
Mr. Gordi is an excellant teacher yes he knows what he is doing and explains very well. The only thing is he doesnt really help too much when it comes to slow learners which is ok because that means we got to really do homework and study. His lectures are really good and a very pleasant person to have as a teacher he is always in a good mood.
Professor Gordi is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Math is actually my weakest subject, he actually managed to break things down to make them easy to understand. Don't worry about the tests, if you master the homework and don't take shortcuts you will pass.
Professor Tooraj is an amazing professor. Math was always a troubling subject, but not with professor Tooraj. He breaks the problem down if you need it, answers all questions, overall really great. Just attend class and do online HW. Math70 is a pass/fail class, i passed.
Okay so i took the time to create an account to bash on this guy. He is literally the worst teacher I have ever had. He does not care what your grade is. I kept on going to his office and asking help to solve problems. He would help which is great but that still didn't make a difference for my grade. Do not take his class!!!!!!
Caring, very helpful, breaks down the math to a level i could understand! Pushed me to want to do more. He makes me want to be a better me.
I respect him as an individual but the final is my last hope to redeem a grade. Quite frankly the whole class is failing and he DOES NOT curve the grade. Also, mid-semester, 3/4ths of the class drops out. If I were you, please don't take him unless you absolutely dedicate yourself to Trigonometry. Otherwise you'll be wasting your time. I'm leaving.
I am one who loves trigonometry and would say to take him ONLY if you grasp every trigonometry concept before going into his class. HOWEVER... If you are not good at trigonometry, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He requires you to know trigonometry prior as he teaches the lectures. Studying is important. If you don't know your identities then you are in trouble.
Took his Mat102 Class and it (he) was horrible. Gives out weekly quizzes and test almost every two weeks. Goes off the book a lot and tests are almost away from the topics covered. Don't recommend.
I hate math and have never been able to comprehend Algebra at all! Professor Gordi helped me get through it all, and that took a LOT of patience of his end!!!
Stay away from this teacher at all cost. Even if you go to class you wont pass unless you teach yourself
He isn't very well with explaining problems, he teaches the class almost as if he is questioning himself. Quiz every Wednesday and test at the end of every chapter. Will test you on things learned the day prior and doesn't let you out early. -1 point for every five minutes late.
Avoid this professor at ALL costs. He laughs at you when you ask a question-- happened to multiple students. He is SO condescending. His tests make no sense. He includes material that he doesn't cover (nor is it in the book/ online) and sometimes you won't get full credit even if you get the answer right AND show your work! This class was awful.
Honestly idk what happened to the classes he taught years before but when I took him fall 2018 he was so nice and helpful. I had a happy experience taking his class. I took stats in highschool but didn't really get much now I understand things way better! Googling his questions will def help you, don't be afraid to ask questions!
He is really nice and easy going, I took him for individualize math (102) and he isn't too strict. he gives you as much time you need to prepare for the test. Definitely would take him again. although his class is self paced so you take what you give in that class. he is not strict about being on time.
I've taken calculus before in high school and by all means DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Even if he's the only one available, just WAIT. My ENTIRE CLASS was FAILING. He just talks to himself on the board, IS NOT CLEAR ABOUT HOW HE WANTS YOU TO SOLVE PROBLEMS and will mark you for it. Homework unrelated to what is learned in class ad graded harshly.
Failed to aid students upon request, failed to show up at times he said he would, failed to discipline class, failed to teach in a cohesive and understandable manner, lectured for four hours and hit on maybe 4 points. Good guy, BAD teacher.
Hes a super nice guy but doesn't like slackers i didnt know math and he showed a true interest in helping me i worked hard and he took time to show me things not just put his TA off on me hes a no BS type guy so maybe some have a hard time getting along with him but even when i got a flat tire he stopped to see if i needed help hes an awesome dude.
Nice guy, Doesnt teach well. Constantly makes mistakes & has to go back. HW may have nothing to do with lecture. Usually 10 questions but very hard & 50 additional questions from the book. Due on random days so easy to miss assignments. HW worth random amounts of points too. (IE one week worth 60, another 10.) Not enough time on tests.
Honestly a really easy and interesting math class. Everything is self explanatory in assignments, tests and projects. As long as you do the homework and take notes on the lecture its a breeze.
It's 50% though, WHERE'S MY FACE SPLITTER!?
Professor Gordi is a fantastic teacher. As long as you pay attention during lectures and take good notes, his class is a breeze. I highly recommend taking his course.
A lot of lecturing on each chapter, but didn't get through every lesson, He spent the first 8 weeks on 3 chapters, and his "X-Factor" homework problems don't have anything to do with the lessons, and still got them wrong even though I was helped with a tutor, and if you don't show your work even for mental math you get zero credit.
I made an account for Tooraj. This was the worst experience. It was as if I experienced the end of time while simultaneously entering a black hole. My friend and I would do the homework and our grades were completely different. My favorite Tooraj quote is "So do this problem right and get the wrong answer but if you do it wrong you get it right".
Attendance is very important in his class, as he gives out quizzes disguised as "classwork" that he will not help you with. He will barely help if you see him in his office hours. He is a nice guy, but he makes a bunch of mistakes in lectures and refuses to correct himself, or doesn't explain what he is fixing. Don't reccomend his class!
Do Not Take His Class If You Want To Pass. Very Hard.
Im crying right now doing the homework he assigned. dont take his class :(
Do not take this professor if you want an A. The quizzes and X Factors are not similar to the book or what he teaches you. He believes in abstract teaching without the proper lectures. I've used tutors and study sessions with fellow classmates, and we're all still struggling.
This Calculus class had started with a syllabus of specific things to be graded on. However, the quizzes, x factors, and group work were graded on strict guidelines no partial credit whatsoever. These would be announced last minute. I would not suggest this class to anyone, even math majors.
He's not a professor for everyone, but I really liked him. His X-factors and Group Work were always interesting, essentially an abstract application of what we were learning in class. He can be a tough grader sometimes, but then other times he's not. Definitely the hardest class I've taken, but that's probably just Calc 2 for you.
Look he is a great guy but when it comes to teaching it is either his way or no way. Plus the X-factors are not even related to what he teaches in lectures. When he was grading my work he saw that I did the problem in a different way than the way he was taught and marked points off.
The work was quite easy but sometimes he seemed confused when lecturing. Often made mistakes while teaching and didn't notice.
He was nice but had a strong accent, making lectures hard to follow. He often got confused or off track. Quizzes are frequent and tough, and the final included topics we didn't cover. Homework was manageable, and the slideshow final was okay.
This class is a real challenge, but tools like unstuckstudy and the free textbook can help you get through it. Attend every lecture, as pop quizzes are a thing. The assignments can be tricky, but with perseverance and the right study strategies, you can succeed.
Really good teacher. Emphasizes the work you must put in to learn but is inspiring to students and always ready to help.
