nigerian nightmare. nuff said
Needs to pick a new profession. His class was terrible.
Hard teacher, who doesn't make objectives clear. This class is just a lot of vocab. but it is impossible!! I made a B but worked super hard for it!! Take someone else!
He demands a lot from his students. He challenges them in order to see the students true abilities, which makes the class ending up being hard. He makes you learn!!! If you're wanting the easy way out, don't take him.
Dr. Bello is not a bad teacher. His tests are kinda hard, but if you read your book and go to class, then you'll have no problems. Easy class!
He is only professor in the business school that makes you write in APA style. (go figure..APA stands for American Pyschological Association). We had a class average of 74 going into the final. You do the math.
Lots of busy work. Tests are brutal. Tries to come across as a nice guy, but his true colors show through soon enough. Its his way or no way.
very detail oriented
ECU must be hard up to find professors. Very tricky tests, doesn't completely understand the English language. Needs to learn how to give clear direction for assignments, especially the paper (his example paper looked like a 3rd grader wrote it!)
Yes, he is a hard teacher. But, he's also been the best teacher I have ever had at this university. I actually learned alot of stuff in this class, but I will tell you that you do have to do onehell of a semster project! Our's was a 128 pages.
Good professor, makes a fun class & is very well organized. He requires a very demanding group project but as long as you keep up w/ reading before the lectures & take notes you will do just fine on his tests.
For one thing the guy is impossible to understand at times. He comes across to the class as a nice guy, but you do see his true side on a one on one basis. He definitely has his favorites in class. He makes a class hard and boring which could be fun.
Makes class overly difficult. Only uses powerpoints, and gives quizzes every class but never returns them. Gives unusual homework assignments and busy work to compensate for his lack of teaching ability.
Class average 68 on final!
His test are very hard and it is a lot of material, but the class was interesting. It's his way or the highway, but he is fair.
AWFUL! Final class average was a C which in Grad school is failing! He is a liability to the University and should be fired. Unfair grading and awful tests. Not to mention he can't speak/write grammatically correct English. By far the worse at ECU! Avoid like the Plague!
Pretty good at lecture, but tests are tougher than a triple ironman. Only take his class if you are committed, you can not coast in his class.
The problem with this course is that he does not know how to teach the material. If you read 7 chapters of concepts and bus. strategy, you'd think that would be the focus of the exam. not really. He asks you 60 questions that are material-based and 22 that are absolutely "Aha!" questions. So you are almosty guarenteed to score no more than 70!
I guess an exam about "A Cat In The Hat" can be made difficult, if you are going to ask people to list the index and other irrelevant facts in chronological order. This is not a hard subject matter, but he is absolutely aweful at best! If you need his class, I'd tell you to study, but pray really hard is more accurate.
Let me sse...how can I chime in? We started teh semester with a class of 30 students, and over 66% dropped the class. We ended the semester with just 10 students. Something is really wrong with this picture. Oh yea, and his teaching is bad.
Teaching is horrible. I think he knows his material but he doesnt know HOW to effectively pass it on others.
this is to dr. bello: your lectures are not bad, your test are not bad, your paper... yeah that sucked, but you need to take other things into consideration when grading. You say that the paper is really the only thing you care most about, but that is not the case. you fail to realize effort that is put into the CLASS (not just test and papers).
He imposes his native country's sadistic teach philosphy on US students-we're not interested! You are in our country adapt our culture-awful tests which you cant study for, has a final exam policy where you can chose to take it but if you do worse it will bring your grade down- he is an evil person and man and should be dismissed
His teaching is very bad and not halpful when you have question about his lecture. He will say "The textbook is always right." So save your enegry before you have question, Google is much helpful than his lecture. I'm wondering how can he get his PHD degree and how come he can be a professor in ECU w/ this kinda attitude.
His teaching style is bad and hard to understand. His lectures often contradict what his slides and book say. On several quizzes he asks a question that has one answer in the book and one in the lecture. He never removes bad questions from the quizzes. On our last test the average was 78 (which is failing according to Graduate standards).
the sad part is that he doesn't even know too much the reality from the countries he talks about
avoid him if you can! It is ok for an undergraduate level...but not for an MBA.
ONLINE - SUMMER SESSION. Avoid this prof at ALL COSTS. Openly hostile to any question, however legitimate. Treats his students with thinly veiled contempt.
Summer Session - Online. Only saw him once for a test. Read the syllabus and follow it explicitly. There is a lot of material covered in this course so you have to study, study, study. Some of his exam questions come from left field but the majority are from the book.
Summer Session. As long as you read the chapters multiple times and study the Powerpoints you should pass this class. Exams are all multiple choice. Be careful with the quizzes though. The questions can be very nitpicky...a change of one word can mean the difference between a True and False answer.
I took this class online over the summer - alot of information to memorize and cram in for exams. Wouldn't have expected to memorize definitions, dates, and names for a grad class. He is mean when contacted for clarification on exams and quizzes - does not take time to explain correct answers. I wouldn't take a class with him again.
No matter how hard you try you will get a B. If you dont give 110% you will not pass. Read the chapters at least once before the test. Memorize the quizzes and memorize his notes slide by slide. After you do all that you MIGHT get a passing grade. Read his tests carefully, they are full of "gotchas."
Dr. Bello is one of the best teachers at ECU. He's very helpful and wants everyone to do well. It's tough information, therefore the tests and quizzes aren't going to be easy. You have to read the chapters in order to do well. Take the study abroad course if you can. It's a great experience.
Summer Course, very intense. Read the chapters multiple times, and study the quizzes, likes to ask questions that are nit-picky, or on obscure facts in the chapters. Not overly willing to discuss quizzes and can be hard to get a hold of. Would not take another class with him.
Tests R very picky w/obscure details. Project very hard&he brags about never giving an A. Our group spent inordinate amounts of time on the project. We barely got an A after multiple rewrites&a presntn we worked on intensly. Doesn't care if other members of team don't contribute. Plan ahead! I almost joined intl program, but not now. He runs it.
You must read the chapters at least 2 times if not 3 to do well on exams. He likes to ask dates and percentages. T/F quizzes are timed and you will get a zero if you go over the time limit even if it is only 1 second! I have never studied so hard for a class. Do not take this during the summmer session. Make sure to post alot of d board responses.
I took his class back in 2002. It was tough in some aspects, but I found that he appreciated students who went the "extra mile" and asked questions. Tests were challenging, best I recall, but it was an overall good class.
Took online class - the worst experience ever!! I would transfer to a different school before I would take another class with him. Must memorize radom facts in the text to pass the exams.
Terrible professor. Tests use trick questions and questions with multiple right answers. The exams became more about 2nd guessing the teacher than about actually testing student knowledge. Avoid at all costs.
Stay away. Stay very far away. Tests are ridiculous and he DOES NOT CURVE THE FINAL GRADE, despite the overall class average being around 80, currently. I had to drop, and I have a 79. The class is built around failure. I sure wish I would have read the previous reviews for him, on this site, before signing up for the class.
I have never studiesd so hard in my life.barely receive a B in the class.Class was taken during the summer and was very demanding: average of 6 chapters to read each week with 6 quizzes every week and 3 very very hard exams.Exams were tricky and did not test conceptual knowledge but details in the text.Grades were curved on the tests.quiz were hard
online - confusing multiple choice questions and very little interaction. Subject matter was very easy and he made difficult. avoid.
Dr. Bello is a jerk. He makes you write this long paper with no clear direction. He lets other students grade you on participation. i was there everyday and sat on the front row and participated and i got a 70 for participation??????? DO NOT TAKE HIM
Online class. If you have to take a class with this professor, wait for a different semester and take someone else. The material COULD BE extremely interesting but his approach, lack of interaction and cynicism make this class difficult at best. Tests and quizzes are full of rote knowledge that no one would recall. Very disappointing.
I had him this summer for an online class. He is a terrible professor. Tests on the most useless information from the book, random facts that are completely irrelevant. Tests are impossible. DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you read this Professor Bello, you should consider a career change. Look at your ratings. Get a clue.
Dr. Bello didn't cover the material on the test. The tests didn't relate to what he said in class.
I didn't care for his teaching style. Too much material to obtain for tests.
Tests are difficult you need to read the chapters atleast twice studying the night before the exam will not cut it. my group did a 40 page paper on a country of our coice. But the country project has NO instructions what so ever and it is only worth 10% of your grade. 25% of the grade is just showing up to class for attedance and quizzes everyday.
Very difficult professor, who uses the text books heavily for assignments throughout the semester, yet the exams are completely off the wall and from separate content, and ask questions that were never covered in the book. If you study hard, do all the assignments, hope for a C
Get out now. tells us he doesnt give A's for semester project, quiz everyday, hard tests... get out
Do not take with Dr. Bello! I think he's a likable person but I have had the worst experience in this class. Participation/attendance is a large part of your grade but he depends on another student to give you credit for attendance and half the time the guy wasn't even paying attention! There is also a group project that's a hassle. Tests are hard.
I enjoyed his class. Attendance is a big part of the grade so just show up and participate. Tests were challenging but not unreasonably hard. He is a great guy and easy to get along with. This is not a professor to take if you want to slack off but if you are in college to learn he is great.
Awful professor, completely disrespectful.
Be prepared for a quiz in every other class, largest group research assignment that I know of (that you will not get an A on), and A minus is given for 95-100. Good professor with an intensive class structure; not sure if there was a single A in our class.
I honestly don't know where to start. The best suggestion would be to take a different professor or even a different international course. Prof. Bello is far from friendly and most of his comments are very condensing. His test aren't ridiculously hard. But the amount of material covered and work required to do in this class is over the limit!
I took this class online. The instructor has some weird time limitations on quizzes and tests but don’t worry. Every question comes directly from the text, and there were no tedious group projects for this class, I got an easy A.
Where to start? Dr. Bello is one of the most disrepectful professors I've met at ECU. He is extremely rude, and will not help you in the least bit. There is a quiz almost every class and participation is 15% of the final grade. Also the research project only counts for 10% of the final grade but takes the whole semester to complete. Stay away!!
Unable to purchase book online forced to use the one approved by ECU and no E-version available. Professor does not like to be questioned. Quality of course was poor, you can read study the text and get a better understanding.
100% Book memorization. This would be a great subject if he included the case studies in the book. You have to put in time to get a good grade. Professor became more involved as the semester went on (after cut date). When you realize what he wants, the course becomes slightly easier. No interaction on discussion boards. Not a walk in the park!
Perhaps the worst experience with a course in my life. $150 copy and paste "book". Tests with phantom questions that seem to come from nowhere. An instructor who tells you not to email him directly unless its an emergency. If you want to waste time and money while frustrating yourself then take this course. Otherwise AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
Required course for MBA program. The textbook is awful. The tests are very hard and some of the questions are so detailed that you would have to memorize everything in the book to know them. I did not enjoy this class and found myself memorizing the chapters instead of actually learning anything.
Just read the book. The professor does not interact with the students beyond occasionally making himself available. The class is not that hard, but there is a lot of work. Unfortunately, the tests, quizzes and discussion board are not well organized and more or less busy work. Poor prof planning make this class more difficult than it really is.
Class is horrendous. The text book is chapters borrowed from other books. Some of the material contradicts other material in the book (from different sources). Nothing is taught, you are just expected to read the book. There is a discussion board but it is like 6 mini papers. Prof cares more about references than he does content.
Dr. Bello isn't that tough, but you are left largely on your own in this class to read the text. If you don't follow his instructions for citations and participation you will not do well. He is available for help if you email or call, but is not very proactive about reaching out. He takes interest in you if you show interest in the class.
Dr. Bello doesn't seem to care at all about his students, and he seems irritated every time he is asked a question. Plus, he doesn't teach at all. Basically, if you want to pass, you better memorize the every chapter word for word and be prepared to teach the material to yourself. Also, there is a timed true/false quiz for every chapter.
DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. I'm an A student, and it's going to be a miracle if I get out of the class with a D.
- lectures have absolutely nothing to do with the test material. - ridiculously hard quizzes at the end of every chapter which come from trivial sentences in the book. - you're forced to participate in class every day. - lose point for every absence Basically, if you don't memorize the whole book you're not going to do well.
His tests are rote memorization of chapters of text. The questions can pertain to very trivial and outdated facts from the text . Dont bother with his recorded lectures . He uses multiple texts and they contradict each other frequently. Overall not very enjoyable. The exam count for most of the grade so study for those.
The best experience of my college classes. I loved his class so much.
Mr. Bello is a great professor. He gets back to you right away and lays the course out very simply! I took him this 1st summer session, got a 93%. We had 3 proctored exams, and 15 chp quizzes (5min, 10 true false) . You have got to read the chps though, it's the only way you will pass! I also suggest filling his Need to Knows out for each chapter.
10 question T/F quizzes of each chapter, 3 discussion posts that are short research papers + 2 responses on the first 2 that also require sources and need to "add" to discussion, & 5? tests over sets of 3-5 chapters that are proctored - 105 questions, multiple choice book based. Grading on discussion posts are detailed & not explained well.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Tests are 105 questions and are insanely hard. He gives no study guide and just says anything in the book can be on your test. If you want to do well in grad school, don't take this class.
Read the text, good power point presentations, tests are multiple choice so understand the text well. Quizzes T or F.
T/F Quizzes for every chapter. Sends out pre-recorded lectures for each, I did not find these helpful. The tests are 105 questions based primarily around memorization of the book. The DB's are overly involved considering the low % counted to your total grade, and the feedback is not always ideal. Be prepared to read and re-read the entire book.
Professor Tope Adeyemi-Bello uses an excessive level of scare tactics throughout the entire semester. He touts the idea that his class is the hardest in the MBA program as if that is something to be proud of. And the class material is actually interesting but he removes the fun of learning by intimidating students to believe they'll likely fail.
This class wasnt terrible but there are 4 proctored exams with 105 questions each, no study guide provided. You read the entire book. 20 timed quizzes for each chapter and 2 papers. The lectures arent that helpful but the ppts were a good summary. Lots of work for a B.
20 quizzes 5 mins ea. for 10 Qs. 4 exams 105 Qs no study guide. Spent 4 hrs/exam just making my own guides from personal text highlights to study from (saviors!). 2 DBs are mini research papers requiring excessive citations. Course content VERY interesting but prof. made learning it MISERABLE. Pass with a lot of prep, hard work, and memorization.
Dr. Bello was one of the hardest teachers I have ever taken. I took this class over summer which was a huge mistake. He made us read the whole text book in 4 weeks, gave us 10 T/F question quizzes for each chapter that had a time limit of 5 minutes and would word some questions to confuse you. I do not recommend.
1 - needs to upgrade audio lecture equipment 2 - QUIZ Heavy. 10 TF ?'s minimum once a week. 5 minutes to complete. Vague questions answers. HARD tests. Want to pass? Memorize the book and PPT. Then read it again. Two books in 1, no index, chapters do not line up w/lecture I will NOT take class again. 8page sgl space 20+ academic reference.
I'm not sure what to say. He just posts old videos, is slow and vuage in his answers to email, and makes you feel small for even asking a question. I've never felt so disrespected. I think I'll pass, but how this guy keeps his job is beyond me.
He will give assignments without clear instruction and grade you based on his expectations that were not clear to begin with. His communications skills are terrible with lack of respect, he has power play energy about him that gets a kick out of debating. 0/10 recommend.
RUDE! He knows the material, but does not actually teach or have any worthy interaction with students in an online class. Did not even upload lectures until Chapter 11. And those were poor quality and boring. Seriously... get another teacher... I wish I had!
He might seem to be a little off, but he is definitely not. He is a straight forward professor with an holistic and international approach towards managemnt. Quite inspiring - he is making you to leave your comfort zone and to calibrate to the modern world!
Be ready to thoroughly read the chapters covered, take a quiz for each chapter, and then a test shortly after that covers all chapters you just read (about 5 chapters). If you read, take notes, and revisit the material, you will do well in the class. The only assignments that are graded are 20 chapter quizzes and 4 tests.
Teaching a gradutate level course, you would expect a level of respect from him that is not there. When I would ask for help, he would belittle me and never actually answer my question, just simply tell me to reread the textbook. Test and quizes are more focused on proving that you don't know rather than what you do know.
If you can take anyone else do it. One of the most arrogant, rude, narcissistic professors I have ever had the misfortune of having. You will do group projects by yourself, and get blamed for your team not doing anything. Never understands the questions you ask and then belittles you while giving an answer you didn't ask for. Do yourself a favor.
I've had my fair share average professors, but tope exceeds all of them in the worst way possible. His lectures are useless, If you want to pass you'll have to read the text book THOROUGHLY. He's very rude to students on discussion boards and through email. If there is any other professor available for this class, take them instead.
STUDY! Even if you think you've studied enough, you are wrong. Very textbook heavy.
This class is very textbook/lecture heavy. I believe the best way to do well in the class is work smart not harder by comparing the textbook with his lectures and read the those topics IN DETAIL. As a professor he is very rude and is not much help!
Rather than learing to apply meaningful concepts, he expects you to memorize endless minutia. It's a lazy approach, he gives quizzes and tests on tiny details in the textbook and basically does nothing. He takes forever to respond to emails and just had a bad attitude toward you, like you are bothering him. Avoid if possible.
this is the most insane attendance policy I have ever experienced (40% of your grade) if you miss three classes you fail. you also will have no clue what your grade in the class is until after finals. He would always go 10 minutes over class time.
He gives recorded lectures for online students. That is it. You have to follow his lectures (hard accent by the way) and take a quiz weekly and three tests throughout the semester. He gives no feedback whatsoever so you are left clueless where or what you need to improve on. I will end up having to retake this course but not with him.
The topics are relatively simple but the instructor made it as difficult adds possible. Subjective arbitrary grading, no explanation or help and he's just plain mean. I guess if he is such an important researcher, they should give him a job where all he has to do is research, so he can't damage the school career of so many people like me.
Be ready for a challenge with this professor - lots of quizzes, exams, and papers that require thorough textbook knowledge. While the content is interesting, the workload is heavy. Unstuck AI proved helpful for efficient study prep.
