Cool guy, makes class fun and interesting. Read the assignments, the rest is a piece of cake.
cool instructor, very helpful and makes class interesting. Just have to read book and study notes and you will do fine.
Do not take this teacher! Class was maxed out and now over 50% have dropped. Long as hell lectures, did I mention boring, and at least 1 quiz a week, and very hard test. I overheard another Geo teacher say he overdoes it. He brags about his academic accomplishments justifying why he's so tough. I passed with a B becuz I realized how hard it was
He has his own way of doing things. If you can't see yourself getting into geology, don't take the class because you'll have a tough time. If you come in with an open mind you'll have fun, especially on the field trips. If you take the class only one day a week, its a rather long class, though...
Mr. Lacy is only hard if you dont study. He is very helpful and a very nice man, he will go out of his way to help you. His test are like the lab and lecture so that there not that hard if you study. Take him you really like his class and plus he gives you alot of extra credit.
Interesting professor, his way of teaching is similar has to the classes of my 9 year old son. But at the end you learn and that is the perpose
I really liked this teacher. I felt like he actually cared about our learning and was very helpful and offered plenty of extra credit. The lectures are a bit boring and slow but it gets the message across and and that is what matters.
this teacher doesnt give notes at all and when he does they are like straight from the book. if you read the book ull be okay but its a lot of reading i got an a but i worked my ass off for that grade. hes so cocky and conceited i dont like him and will never take an earth science class again
He is hott! Easy on the eyes. He is a tall and handsome man. But kind of on the cocky side. Oh....well....!
Ok teacher, kinda of a dick sometimes. Study HARD and youll do fine.
This class actually requires effort in order to get a good grade. He lectures with powerpoint 90% of the course, there are lots of notes every class meeting, and his exams are tough and require real studying. LADIES I would suggest sitting in the front because he is not hard on the eyes. He is very helpful and has a witty sense of humor.
Great teacher. I learned a lot. It's not hard, just don't be lazy!
This professor is one of the worst I have ever taken at Cerritos College, he's rude, has favoritism, and unlike other professor isn’t encouraging or available to help student when they are in need of help.
perfect teacher

Mr. Lacy teaches very well. His lectures are very good and he makes you understand the material really well. He answers all your questions. Ladies, if you want to look at a HOT teacher, then he's your man. Hottness A+++
Guy was awesome. I loved how he was sarcastic when people woud ask stupid questions. I rarely used the text book, he even let me use last years book so saved me lots of money. He has PPs for slides and you can take down notes but you wont need it. I learned everything from his lectures and got an A.
by far my favorite college professor i've ever had. he explains the material very well! so well that i could take a test based only on his lecture and definitely pass. he's entertaining and hilarious (to me). seems like a very fair teacher to me. he's not too hard and not too easy. i recommend this professor over LoVetere.
This guy is FINE!!! He is easy to understand, very helpful, and definite eye candy. I love coming to his class.

Good teacher with great lectures but may get on your case.
This teacher is very hard. The fieldtrips doesn't count on your grade...He says it does but I say otherwise. The tests are very long and difficult. I hate geology now because of this professor
Mr. Lacy is a really good teacher. I took him for Phys. Geog. and he explained things very well. He uses examples and demonstrations to help you understand the material. He's intimidating at first, but he's a really cool guy. He's funny and good looking so he makes showing up easy. Just do your work and study for the exams and you'll do well. :]
Do not take this class if you enjoy studying and doing large amounts of work (Labs, and hw) Will not pass the class unless you get C's or above on the tests. Even though "20%" is the lab and hw it will not get you by the class. This teacher is very boring and has lame jokes. I would not recommend for the average slacker. Not recommended, very strict
Lacy is a good guy and everything but his class is unnecessarily difficult. This is not some average slacker whining so take this seriously. I'm a SHP student with 4.0 GPA and over 60 units. And this was the hardest class I've taken in my two years at Cerritos College. He tries to cover too much for entry level class. Tests are especially hard.
HE'S A GREAT TEACHER! He really knows how to teach. The reason people think he's hard is because they dont study or pay attention in class (THIS IS COLLEGE, GROW UP. He makes the class pretty fun, and he has his funny moments. He makes sure u understand the subject before he moves on to the next section. Great Esci teacher, I STRONGLY Recommend him
all i gotta say.. this teacher is HOT. kindA intimidating at first but his nerdiness comes out eventually. i loved coming to class just to see his sexiness!
His class is very hard and you will need to dedicate a lot of time to this class. This class requires as much time as two classes. As for Prof. Lacy, he is one of the best professors at Cerritos. Very clear, funny, & entertaining. You will learn a lot, but must work hard to get a good grade. This is coming from a SHP (GPA 3.9) student.
Great class, makes you want to get out of the house and explore the world. Be prepared to write a short paper on one of your favorite parks. Don't use cell phones in class, whatever you do!
this is a very difficult class, would not reccomend to anyone unless you're a hard core nerd
I passed the class with a B without buying the book (I don't recommend this). Not because I am a genius or anything his lectures are just so good! He gets moody if you don't pay attention though. Umm, it's a long class but you get to look at pretty rocks and go on fieldtrips! No curve, fair but difficult concepts.
This was a really fun and easy class. Lacy is a great prof. and his lectures include everything he quizzes on. If you take the quizzes and pay attention, you can pass this class no problem.
He is very easy. Has corney jokes but still makes his students laugh. Lab is fun not boring like other classes. Exams are easy but need to study to get good grade. Advice....don't be absent! One day missed is a lot of info missed.
I'm an English major and I miraculously passed this class with a B. Science is not my thing but Lacy made the subject easy and was great at explaining things. Plus he wasn't boring, made us laugh w/his corny jokes, and his labs were extremely helpful. Way better than Hallinger for sure. Expect lots of work, but it will help you on exams for sure!
his jokes are ridiculou, i felt like shooting myself in that class super boring. overall i wont recomend unless you like rocks and love to read.
geology is not my thing but the teacher is really passionate about the subject and he made it more interesting for me... attendance is not really mandatory but i recomend not to be absent because he gives a lot of information in his lectures... i did not read the book, but took notes and did all the labs which was really helpful.
He's a good teacher but his lectures are very dull. Read the suggested material he posts on his website and write down the bullet points he puts up on his power point presentations. Class is mandatory!
Gifted teacher. Explains things clearly and simply. Doesn't test on things he doesn't go over in class so reading the text is helpful, but not neccessary to do well in the class if you pay attention to lecture. Buy the books. You'll need them even though chapter reading isn't essential. Gives Extra Credit on tests.
PROFESSOR LACY IS A GREAT TEACHER HAS HIS OWN WAY OF TEACHING WHERE YOU ACTUALLY LEARN THE MATERIAL AND NOT JUST MEMORIZE IT FOR TESTS OR LEARN AND FORGET, BECAUSE OF HIS CLASS I LEARNED TO BE A MORE CRITICAL THINKER AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THE WORLD ITSELF. HE KEEPS IT INTERESTING WITH HIS NERDY GEOLOGICAL JOKES AND IS ALWAYS ON TIME TO CLASS AND IS ALWAYS READY TO GO HIS PROFESSIONALISM, SENSE OF HUMOR AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD IS ON POINT. I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT LEARNED IN THIS CLASS FYE STEM
Extremely helpful and involved teacher. He stays after class to help people out. Lectures are so clear and informative that you don't need to read too much. Mostly you just need the charts from the book for references and the lab book for assignments. He goes over all the answers for the lab work. He has 3 Saturday mandatory field trips.
He's not great, but not super horrible. He doesn't really collect assignments on time like he says he will. His lectures are super boring. He doesn't even know how to use talonnet. I would not recommend him to another student. Like if you can wait a semester for a better professor. Do it.
Most questions for tests and quizzes come from the power point slides he shows during his lectures. Some will come from the labs and a couple from the 3 Saturday field trips. He really likes teaching geology so ask questions because he is always willing to help students. A lot of material is covered but he always does a review before a test.
Great professor, very passionate about his work. Easy class as long as you pay attention. He somehow manages to make a somewhat boring subject interesting. There's no textbook, which saves money! Quizzes and a power point at the end of the class make your grade. If you need a class to fill your schedule, I highly recommend this one!
Good professor, subject is interesting. However, his tests are very long, covers A LOT of material, if this isn't ur major be prepared to study everyday. 3field trips, some test questions will come from the trips. Wish he gave study guides cause you nevr know what will be on the tests, gives a lot of extra credit on the exams but don't count on it.
His class is not that hard as long as you read the book & pay attention to his lectures & labs. His hw is not hard just a bit long. Very helpful if you have questions too. Not too mention he's very handsome considering his age (; a good reason to come to class
One of the most interesting professor I had. I was failing with a D before the final.. I studied all night and passed the class with a B... Book isn't really needed but sure helps out. He makes jokes, and keeps class interested with relevant ones. He has office hours when he says and doesn't really miss any day himself. I recommend this professor.
Not my favorite class, but it was pretty fun learning science that focused on national parks rather than a regular boring geology. Not a hard class, just show up, take notes, and study them.
He shows great interest in the subject, but sometimes the lectures can get tiring. He'll realize when this happens and move onto a lab that'll wake everybody up or have the class take a break. You may need to do some studying, but the class isn't too difficult. He's a nice guy and if I were a geology major I'd take him again.
Mr. Lacy is an excellent professor his lecture is vey interesting. The way he explains the topics are easy to understand and for a 3 hrs class the time goes super fast. He is very enthusiastic and very helpful. The exams are long, but he give extra credit question that will help you in the exam. You won't regret take a Geol class with Mr. Lacy.
be ready to actually do the readingsstudy f you want to pass this class with a decent grade. other then that he's a nice guy. Drops you if you miss 3 times
Professor Lacy's lectures are very clear and organized. He is very interested in and knowledgable of the subject matter and his enthusiasm is easily transferred to the students. He made me very interested in Geology.
Geology was an interesting class. I took the class plus the lab which made it a three hour class :( His good looks definitely helped time pass by a little quicker.! Great eye candy! Many things you learn in that class you can relate to everyday observations!
One of the best professors at Cerritos. This professor is passionate about his job and shows it. If you take this class, here are some helpful tips for success in class: read material, do homework, study the guides and worksheets, visit during office hours, this class is pretty cool, but expect to work, read, and study
Took one of his classes not knowing what to expect. Definitely one of the most interesting guys! Changed my major to geology and took more courses with him. Definitely recommend!
Professor Lacy is definitely passionate about Geology. He has to be the most handsome male on Cerritos campus which contributed to me having perfect attendance. Geology was not my thing at all but he did make an effort to help me to the best of his ability. He offers extra on every test. I took the class and lab so know your rocks, they suck.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Lacy's class made his lectures fun not your boring usual science lecture. He's upbeat and funny. Does assign homework and some reading is needed. But if you take good notes and study them to the test you should be able to get good grades. Tests aren't too hard doing the homework will help with the tests.
This class was easy! He gives a short quiz everyday but as long as you do the assigned reading you should pass them all. There are 3 field trips that aren't required but some information will be on the test. The test are long but again, as long as you have been keeping up with your work, they're easy A's. He is a very funny guy, best class so far!
Prof Lacy is a great teacher he is funny and passionate of what he teaches. Helpful tip, do all of the extra credit that he offers, it may seem not important in the beginning but it helps with your grade significantly at the end. Read the chapters he gives out for homework so you can pass the daily quizzes & make sure you have time for this class.
I do not recommend this teacher to anybody. He will say one thing about his class then suprise its changed. Where is his integrity in the classroom. There are also 3 or 4 field trips for the class that he does not include as extra credit even though the class takes our Saturdays. Overall I do not recommend and is not helpful to student n flirts
Lacy is awful like the last student had said he has not kept his word for his class and is very vague with his information. Exams are very hard even if students have studied it wouldn't be so bad if the choices were from A to E on the multiple choice but he gives more options than that. I would not recommend him to anyone take geography.
Professor Lacy is awesome! Chill professor, but when it comes to homework he does assign a lot from the workbook, but it's easy work. He goes all out for his exams though, and it is time consuming. He lets you know what will be on the exams, and doesn't give study guides. Overall, I do recommend him :)
Professor lacy is a great teacher. His class is not easy but he explainsthings well. The exams are 100 questions but if you do the homework you will pass. I took his 6weeks class. READ THE PAGES HE GIVES!!
I took Professor Lacys 6 week summer class. As long as you do the work and do the reading you will pass with a B or higher. He did give a lot of HW but he did go over it before collecting it, which helped. 3 point quizzes given each day were easy as long as you did the reading the night before. Overall it was a good class. I would recommend.
I took this class in the summer, it was fast passed but Mr. Lacy is amazing. I was worried about this class, but he turned out to be one of the best teachers I ever had. He explains things well and is clear about quizzes and exams. READ, READ, READ, if you do, you will pass. Rocks and Minerals are the hardest, so pay attention and study.
One of the best professors Ive had at Cerritos. Has a knack for being able to reel in students towards his lectures and keeping you engaged and interest throughout the semester. You will learn SO much if you pay attention to his lectures and examples. Very funny man. Pay close attention to minerals and rocks and youll do just fine.
Amazing class. Amazing teacher. Never thought Id be interested about geology, but the way he taught it and the field trips(hikes) he took us to showed our class clear examples of what we were learning. It was a great experience and honestly would take again just because hes a great guy and the hikes were fun!
Professor Tor Lacy is one of the professors I have taken. I took him during summer and was worried that it was going to be difficult. Although at first it did seem like it was a lot, as the class continued he gave more feedback and was very helpful. I highly recommend him! He makes class very interesting and helps to pass the exams.
I took this class over summer so it was at a faster pace but he still explains everything in an easy to understand way. Some students needed to read if they didn't completely understand the lecture but it wasn't needed for some. The tests aren't tricky if you know the material you'll pass.
One of the best science professors I've had by far. His lectures are clear and make sense. As long and you complete the assigned readings and pay attention in the lectures you will get an A.
I definitely recommend taking his class, you will not only learn fairly important matters like earthquakes, especially in California, but he also shows interesting local geographical locations. I learned a lot about my region, why that mountain is there, or why there's rocks mounted in a certain area, it was an interesting class.
WORST PROFESSOR At Cerritos College. His tests are extremely difficult and and his work is mentally draining. Unless you hate your life then I would suggest never joining his class. BEWARE
I took him as a summer class and theres lots of work. If you have a lot of free time, it will be very easy to be caught up with all your work. All his test are short and he usually gives you 3 attempts for each test. He is a great professor and responds quickly whenever you email him.
Such an amazing professor. Gives a decent amount of work but is always available for his students and responds very well to any help you might need. The assignments offer multiple attempts and give you a chance to really learn something from the class.
I did not like taking his class online. It was an EXTREMELY heavy work load for a 9 week course. He was helpful but if you have a learning disability of any kind steer far away...
Professor Lacy is exactly the kind of professor you want in college. He makes things clear, he's extremely caring and invested in your education and he's understanding. 10/10 would take any class he taught.
Professor Lacy is super kind, encouraging and loves geology. His class is fun and there will be quite a few labs you get to do. I definitely suggest if science regarding the Earth is of interest to you.
Prof Lacy is kind and understanding, but the class is incredibly difficult. I think Im the only one who passed his class with a high B, everyone else had Ds or failed. Hes not a bad prof, but you really need to dedicate 100% to this class if you want to pass with a high grade. I guess I couldve studied harder but even then, this class was rough.
I do realize this is an asynchronous class, but the work load is way overbearing. Every other day there is at least 5 to 8 assignments due, and gives about a million quizzes. Even though the work is pretty simple, it is just way too much work. I would NOT recommend you take Prof Lacy unless you give the majority of your time to this class.
I took this class while it was online and loved it. I would suggest taking it in person if you can since hands-on labs are fun! There are weekly tests and a cumulative final. If you do the reading and homework then you should do well. The class has a tutor and Prof. Lacy has office hours so you should be able to do well if you put in the work!
Mr. Tor Lacy is a good and nice professor, however, the class requires you to have a loooooooot of assignments done frequently. Expect to do a lot of hw every a couple days, but they aren't too difficult if you read the textbook and listen to the lecture.
Great professor. Loved his jokes in class. Prof. Lacy made things extremely easy to understand, and was happy to help me identify one of my own rocks after class(calcite within a sedimentary rock w/ embedded shells). A lot of online work(I took hybrid), but if you keep on top of things + read textbook + take notes, it's a very easy and fun class.
Great Professor, I took a 9-week course so the workload was heavy, but he did warn us before the class actually started. Was always on top of grading and provided useful feedback. A very engaged professor. As long as you stay on top of assignments you should be okay as the assignments aren't extremely complicated. Many extra credit opportunities.
Great professor overall, very caring and genuine. There is a lot of coursework but not bad as long as you stay on track. Extra credit is also generous to make up for any assignments missed.
Even though there was a lot of work and reading, I don't think you could choose a better professor for this class. It isn't too hard as long as you keep up with the reading, and the labs are fun and really help you understand the work. He gives you a link to the online pdf for the textbook so you don't have to pay, and he's very sweet and funny.
very kind and caring and interesting class
This professor is REALLY easy and he always gave me great feedback! He messages you to make sure you turn things in and he gives you a lot of time for the final project. He's clearly very excited about geology and his enthusiasm is contagious. 100% would take him again!
I would recommend his class, and I took this course hybrid. He shows interest in his students progress. If you need help within the course, he will help and is accessible outside of class hours. Just do your work and you will pass the course.
Professor Lacy is a great professor he definitely is very helpful when it comes to students understanding his lectures and material land will go above and beyond for them passing his class. He also gives reminder to make sure that the students are keeping on top of assignments if I was not transfering i would definitely take his class again.
amazing professor!! very passionate abt what he teaches and he's funny. the in person labs are easy but u have to attend class otherwise u miss out on those loads of points, so try not to miss out!! plus they're interesting :) the homework is easy just time consuming so make sure to make time for it. also gives lots of time 4 the final project!
The is really nice but he assigns tons of hw. if you get behind its super HARD to catch up and theres lots of field work meaning field trip thats can take all day 6am-8pm and if you dont go it will affect your grade and there multiple field trips. and you also have to teach yourself before you go to class. you also work in groups it goes super fast
Loved taking this course! For a 9-week semester, you are given lots of assignments, so be prepared to study/read. Gives us a chance to interact with peers via Pronto. Overall, great course, great prof! 10/10 The work assigned is not hard if you study, + it is open note. Interesting course! (Fun fact: I selected this prof from this site's rating) !
Very passionate about geology, lots of dad jokes, keep up with the homework there is a lot of easy assignments. Go on the field tripes, they are a lot of fun!
My favorite professor so far. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He also made funny jokes and I enjoyed every day I went to class. You should attend every class and there are also field trips that you have to attend. The field trips were fun(to me) and I enjoyed them a lot. He is also helpful and it is easy to ask him questions.
