Worst teacher on campus by far. Comes off like a nice guy, but don't let that fool you. About 5 people passing and there is ony 2 weeks left of the sem. The test are way harder than his and the books examples. No credit for homework, no calculators, no curve, no office hours to help you. Getting a tutor is pointless for this class. GOOD LUCK!

This teacher teach primarily from his lecture notes, he uses the book for references, but all of his lectures are based on his personal notes. The worst part of this teacher's class is his test. His lectures do not match his test, neither reflects the other. Sad to say Fall 06, 95% of the class failed, with only 4 out 48 students passing or just.

He will assume you know all of Math 125 prior to taking his class. Many students didn't do well because they took 125 a long time ago. If you take 125 the semester prior to 245, you should be OK. I thought Professor Pedersen was really great! He does get off topic here and there, but made statistics very clear and took a lot of time to answer questions. There were points during the course where I or others were visibly confused, and he was able to pick up on this kind of thing very quickly and explain things that people didn't understand.

I took Stats over the summer with prof. Pedersen and he was a great teacher. He tried his best to make the material clear for everyone and when we didn't understand he'd attempt to break it down into simpler terms. There is a lot of online hw for this course and tests get challenging as you get into new material, but if you study they're manageable

If you are okay with a B, go for it as you will only need 75% to get it. However, if you care about getting an A, skip this class. All lectures are based on slides and not actual teaching. All exams except the first one are super tricky. Students are intimidated to ask questions, so you won't learn anything.

If your planning on taking Calc and you feel like your math skills are sub-par, then I'd recommend this class, because he takes away your reliance on calculators(calculators are not allowed on test or final) and explains difficult concepts in an easy to understand manner. Ive taken him twice. Both times were terrible. Hes rude and condescending. He uses PowerPoint to teach and reads through the examples instead of doing them so hes done walking through them before youve had a chance to even read the problem. He missed class multiple times and cuts them short on a regular basis. Lots of time lost to teach.
