This Professor is very interesting and I am rarely bored in the class. (fun lectures!) The tests are pretty easy and there are not too many assignments. Just do well on the tests and you'll do great. (also make sure to do all your assignments!)
She's not a bad professor, but truth be told, she's not great either. Her study guides are too extensive in that she expects you to know everything--front to back--of the textbook. Those expectations are unrealistic. On the plus side, she does give you opportunities for extra credit.
Dr. Bovard teaches primarily from the text but adds personal and professional comments as well. Her exams (4) and a a cummulative are tricky because she sometimes ask questions that are not on the study guide or text. She grades on a curve and is fair on her grading. She loves rowing and soccer.
She is a very good professor & very interested in her students. If you study the book & her notes for the most part you should receive a high grade.
very funny.talks A LOT.her lecture is broad so you HAVE to do the reading or you will not pass.gives a lot of papers to write and extra credit.helpful and available if you need her.
Attendance is mandatory. Sends a sign-in sheet beginning of class. Lectures can be helpful at times but sometimes not. Provides study guides. Exams are multiple choice and 1 short answer. Final is cumulative. Textbook required especially when studying. Doesn't cover material on study guide that will be on exams in lectures.
Attendance is mandatory. she gives out sign in sheets once a week. lectures are all based on slides from your textbook. one term project, which was very easy! final is cumulative. its hard but you have to study study study!
Took her for Psyc 134 Human Sexuality. Three tests multiple choice with essay part to it which you don't get to know what type of question your gonna be writing about until you get the test, must read the book to do good on the tests also final is cumulative with 100 questions. Good Luck overall great professor.
AWESOME! Finished final@4 by 9 the final grades were posted! Makes class VERY interesting and you will WANT to go to her course.Got a B without reading the book but would NOT recommend.Reading would have made everything so much easier. 3 discussion boards, 2 midterms, 1 final. All easy esp if you read. DEF take her, shes the BEST!!
What should be an interesting subject matter of Human Sexuality becomes another run of the mill subject matter taught by Victoria Bovard. The test review sheets and lectures are okay but it is absolutely necessary you study every aspect of the textbook from front to back.
Middle of the Road Sex Ed class. Nothing really special. One sex ed session Bovard showed us a 1950's era sex ed video. Um, this is 2011 she does realize we have long evolved from the days of Leave it To Beaver?
The lectures are often times discombobulated. Bovard lectures on things which has nothing to do with sex ed. Sometimes she would discuss politic issues like Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito when the topic was supposed to be about contraception!
Boring and often times dull lectures about what should be an engaging topic of sex ed. The tests were difficult to boot; pretty much got to remember everything front to back for all of the tests. The study guides were of little help.
Uninspired and uneventful class on what should be an interesting topic of Sex Ed. This could have been a great class but it was a rather boring class.
I took her online psyc2 class, and she was amazing! Very clear and helpful, open to any questions you may have. big assignments-3 tests, term paper (with required responses to classmates' papers). It was very obvious she is a cheerful person. Though this class was online, she honestly seemed to enjoy her work and the students.
This is an online motivation class, but this is way too hard! Tons and tons of reading, long reading, 3 exams (exam 1 = first 6 weeks of class, exam 2 = next 7 weeks of class, and exam 3/final is cumulative!) Plus, no study guides or help with what to focus on. Due dates are always confusing.
I had her online motivation class. Read the entire book, and post 4 times on the discussion board a week. Lots of work!! If you read the book and take notes the tests are easy so i got an A. She emails back within two days. I don't like online classes but I didn't have a choice for this one, and it didn't go so bad. All tests online. One paper.
She is a very nice lady, however, her tests are super hard! She requires one tterm paper, the exams, one final, and three learning modules. You have to read book in this class! Does not offer lot of extra credit just one assignment.
I found her lectures to be rather uneventful and dull. For a subject matter which should be interesting her classes are too straight from the textbook. Middle of the road class.
Took her online class and got really dissapointed! Her tests are really hard!!! She gives a lot of work to do! Wouldn't recomend her:/
I took her online PSYC 2 class and it was extremely hard. The tests were super hard with not enough time and you had assignments due all the time. I recommend taking this in a classroom.
Awesome. Fun. Her stories were always interesting.
For an online course, she does not respond to emails very well. Horrible Professor and not helpful at all.
I had her for child development. She was pretty interesting considering it was a 7:30 am class. I got an A- but I did read all the chapters and use the online quizzes made from the textbook author. Some of her exam questions were from there. The class isn't hard if you read and attend class.
absolutely loved this class. would take a class with her again. the exams are straight forward. extra credit panel was fun, i definitely suggest doing it! got an A and barely read the book. classes are interesting.
This class was enjoyable. She tests easily if you have reviewed her lectures and the book. She gets off topic easily during lecture, but she cares about what she lectures on. Go to class, because she tests on class happenings(i.e.videos, presentations, demonstrations)
This teacher is really easy, maybe because I took this class online. Follow the syllabus, read the chapter, watch the videos, and take the quizzes. Very easy teacher and class if you do your work. Obviously.
Enjoyable class. Videos are interesting as well. Few exams, weekly slideshows/quizzes, research study hours required, and an essay. She only gives you a limited # of chances to do the essay, so if she posts a topic you like, DO IT! Have good time management and you will do fine.
Attendance was not mandatory but being there would help you on exams since material is from videos and guest speakers as well. Exams were not easy, but the assignments are easy points that can bring up a person's grade. She is nice. Most of the lectures were interesting.
I took PSYCH 2 as a full online class. The course has a lot of work but it is completely possible to receive an A in the class if you stay on track with everything! Also, the professor is very good at responding to students which is great since it is an online class! I would recommend this course if you are consistent and organized!
Amazing instructor. She's the best instructor I've had here at Sac State. Lectures are interesting--there is never a dull moment! She's hilarious! She's not easy, but if you do your work, you'll be fine. (Cray cray, I know.) I'm taking another one of her classes next semester. I HIGHLY recommend Professor B.!
Class composes of 2 midterms, 1 final, 1 term paper, and weekly quizzes. 3 hours of researches participations are also required. Sounds like a lot, but they're not too hard =]
Exams have poor content validity, and we were not able to review them to see which questions we missed. Multiple choice questions listed multiple answers that were all correct, unsure if this was intentional, but it was definitely anxiety-provoking. Lectures were interesting, but exams were not based on lecture, only book and videos/guests.
She's awesome. Pay attention and you'll do fine, which isn't hard because it's an interesting class. The tests aren't random, it's actually stuff she talks about during lecture and it's also in the book.
Bovard communicates with her online students via e-mail 2 or 3 times a week and posts grades regularly. Class includes weekly chapter quizzes, 3 exams, 1 writing assignment, & 1 extra credit opportunity. I would read through Bovard's chapter slides, which were very detailed. As good as an online class gets!
Professor Bovard is really nice; since it is an online class, if you have any questions, she would reply asap. I like how she would remind us when we have a quiz because sometimes, we forget that we have a quiz since it's an online class. There are 3 exam and a quiz every week. If you read the book and the notes she post online, you will pass.
I took this course online and i had a pretty easy time. 1 chapter a week with one quiz a week and she is pretty organized so you know your upcoming assignments are.
EASY A. It's a lot of work at first but she's great at giving directions and information. She responds right away to emails and is very understanding. The information she posts weekly are helpful and sometimes fun to watch. Tests and quizzes make you think a lot but can be found with the help of google. But I would definitely take her again!
If you want to actually learn the subject then I would advise you to enroll with a different professor. This class contains: weekly quizzes, one writing assignment, and three test. Overall this class is heavy with the textbook, but if reading and understanding text comes easy then you will have no problem. Overall, I found this class to be simple.
Participate in the weekly discussions, read the textbook for the exams, watch the assigned videos, and copy the lecture notes. You have to really be self-sufficient and responsible in this class. You pretty much have to teach yourself with the materials given to you. Very textbook heavy! Just do what you're suppose to do and you should be fine.
She is by far my favorite teacher this semester! After taking her class, I decided I want to change my major to psychology. The material is difficult, and extensive, but if you come to class the lectures help a lot. She also provides many helpful resources, and offers some extra credit too. I am looking forward to taking classes from her later.
She is always cracking jokes and keeping the class entertained; very nice and an easy class if you do the reading. There is some class group work at the end of a few of her lectures, however, amazing teacher. I highly recommend her.
I feel people did not explain enough the amount of work this class takes if you're actually trying to get an A. The way she asks the the questions on midterms and finals are rather hard. However, she is a very interesting and nice teacher so just make sure you do all the work.
There are only 2 midterms and then one final... that is all your grade consists of. Her lectures have absolutely nothing to do with the midterms.
As a person Professor Bovard is amazing, very passionate and wants her students to pass. As a professor her class online is very difficult and nearly impossible if you don't look up all the answers on quizlet. Most struggle and barely learn anything long term.
While she is a very nice teacher. She is hard. Her two midterms are online. she doesn't give you enough time. The worst part is, is the final is cumulative and it is in class. Its 200 points and you DO NOT get a study guide. The books is huge and I don't know any student that can memorize that. Her wording is confusing.
This class was challenging due to the fact that you had to post in an online discussion board 4 times each week, but she expected you to space those posts out and look on Blackboard daily. It was hard for me to manage at first, but once you get used to her schedule the class isn't too difficult. The sources and materials she uses are great.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with child psychology, loves to push her own opinions on students. Tests are online and time limit is too short, restricts time so students won't use their book instead of offering tests in class Final is cumulative, in class no study guide. Get ready to constantly watch Ted Talks.
Online women's psychology was a great class. Lots of videos and reading. Must use discussion board a lot. One midterm One final one Paper. Take this class you will like the videos.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Doesn't give study guides. Her notes are useless. You will learn more about her life then you will about the actually material. Do not recommend her class. The final was the WHOLE book. Again no study guide...
Online course. A lot of work but it was grading was fair. I enjoyed the class, she tries to build connections with her students. I love professors who do that. Exams are difficult, I have to read them 5 times before I can pick an answer but since it was online, I was able to use my text book and notes.
BEST TEACHER EVER, I am a freshmen this year and this class was a breeze. she is so kind heartted. must take class.
Professor Bovard is a lovely teacher who I would recommend for anyone taking Psych 2. Psychology 2 has a lot of things you need to remember so if you stay on top of it, you'll pass this class. Exams were easy but you should make sure to study because final exam is in class
Professor Bovard was really nice, but the class required a lot. 3 hours of research, 3 exam (all online), a term paper, weekly homework ,and a final. The final is in class and she doesn't provide a study guide, MAKE SURE TO STUDY WELL FOR IT. The final is 200 points made up of really complicated questions.
Overall she was a nice professor. But even though I took notes on every lecture, they did not help me at all for studying for the final because she doesn't give you all the definitions for key terms. REVEL SAVED ME. Use REVEL to review for the final and the CHAPTER SUMMARIES to study. Reading REVEL is the key to getting an A in the class.
I currently have her for Psyc-2 and wow, she's a pretty good professor. I like how she makes her lectures interesting and not super boring, but I guess Psyc is just really interesting in general. She's hilarious at times and really cool. Easy to approach and ask questions (unlike some professors). Read the textbook though! Seriously!!!
She's a real good teacher, it probably comes with being a psyc teacher. Big class, not hard at all, fair workload. And it can actually be interesting.
She is a nice lady. Weekly homework on an online website that costs about 80 dollars. Weekly homework is easy. Exams are fairly easy if you do the reading. Only thing I don't like is the last final exam is cumulative. Possible to get an A.
Bovard has interesting lectures and doesn't just read off her slides. She's engaged and an interesting person. Tests are kinda weird because you feel like you did really well but come back with a C. Mandatory participation in psych surveys (as with every psych class at Sac). One essay and some homework. 3 exams and a final.
There are 3 online timed exams & a 100 point cumulative MC final in class with no notes. There is one writing assignment, weekly homework online & in class activities. She includes great examples & outside stories that are relevant to the lecture instead of just reading off the powerpoint. She knows what she is talking about & is very nice!
She uses an online textbook and all tests but the final are online. As long as you do the readings and take notes in class you will do well. She has in class assignments randomly so showing up to class is important. She is very good at keeping lectures interesting and adds in a lot TED Talks. I highly recommend.
Always thought I did better on the exams than I actually did. She has questions on the exams from things that took place in class & there are activities in class randomly so attendance is important. She is pretty funny. She brings real stories into lectures which always helps. The final was in class 100 questions with no help. Hw includes reading!
She is a pretty good teacher. She has a lot of stories to tell but they are somewhat related to the content. She grades pretty lenient. If you do your weekly chapter online on revel, you have nothing to worry about. Quizzes are online and no class that day. Final is in class, no notes. Just do the chapters properly. I would definitely recommend her
Revel is a textbook online that has quizzes. She is fairly easy, attendance is not mandatory but she uses stuff that is only covered in lectures on the tests. Sometimes she might give better instructions in class than what is posted online. She cares about her students and interaction. Always there to talk to.
If you really want to learn Psychology take it, lectures and never boring. Revel for reading and quizzes that are all found on quiz-let. 3 exams are all on canvas. the Final is cumulative, and in class no notes, no study guides! There's 1 writing assignment(easy)and a couple in class assignments, don't miss class. late classes have no research hrs.
you have to come to class and do her work and if you don't you are NOT PASSING come to class write notes. there are 4 exams and they are hard its online but you can't find the answers online. lect are ok sometimes she gets carried away to easily with stories and you have to read the book everyday after class if not good luck. don't recommend her
This professor was awesome! i took her online psych134 class. although she does give a lot of hw during the week, we usually have a discussion or short paper. she also makes the pearson revel chapters in the textbook online mandatory, its time consuming but isn't hard at all! we watch a lot of vids/articles, advice take notes for exam!
This class was an online class so it's easy to assume it won't be difficult but she assigns a lot of homework not that difficult though. Make sure you watch the required videos and readings and take notes as she includes questions of those on the exam.
The topic of this course was really interesting and I learned a lot, but you have to stay on track of all of the readings and assignments. There is reading and an assignment due at the end of each week so it's important to not procrastinate. Study a lot for the tests because some of the questions can be tricky.
Read the book and do the online assignments. Watch the videos and take notes because she will ask you about some obscure detail on the exam that is not relevant to understanding the overall concepts in the video. Overall, not that difficult if you make sure to do everything on time. Extra credit available too.
Professor B is one of the most passionate teacher's I have ever had. The test are open book open note and online. However, the final is in class closed book closed notes. The test are easy and most answers on quizlet but don't make the mistake and not pay attention because the final is difficult. She offers extra assignments for an easy A.
Showing up to class is definitely a must for this class, but her lectures are always entertaining. The Textbook isn't bad either, though it can be a tedious. Night classes aren't required to do research hours, & only have 4 tests including the final exam. Her other assignments are all simple too! She is a passionate teacher who makes psyc fun
She has a good personality. You can tell she loves to teach but her exams are hard.I am not sure how people got a high A. There are 3 exams that are online open notes but you have an hour and they are mostly lectured based so notes dont usually help. The final exam is calmative and closed notes going be hard no study guides ever which sucks.
Interesting class but all she does it lecture. Three exams online you only have an hour. The final exam has no study guide which is hard. Homework due every Saturday at 11:59 on revel (answers on quizlet). Attendance not mandatory but she does in-class assignments and you won't know till you're in class. Notes won't help you with the exams.
Great professor ! Makes lecture fun and interesting. Exams are usually online and you get to use your notes and finial exam is in class cumulative no notes .
Read the book, do the Revel quizzes, do the discussions, write the papers, take the exams, and you'll get an A. The exams have some tricky questions related to precise details in the videos, but the exams are not all that hard overall because they are open book. She picks some interesting TED talks to watch. Well structured and interesting class.
This online class was tough. Must complete quizzes on each chapter, but multiple attempts given. Tests are hard (not on Quizlet) and refer to minute details in the textbook so it is hard to recall. A million assignments. However, I learned a lot and this professor cares about her students. She assigns work she feels is useful, not to kill us.
Her lectures are never boring and she cares a lot about her students. 4 exams with 2 weekly homework assignments. This is one of the easiest classes I have taken here, so I highly recommend.
ABSOLUTE GEM. Great stories. Funny. Great for online/hybrid and face to face class. Cares about her students. You NEED to read the book as slides don't have enough info. Talks kind of fast. Very organized. Tech savvy. Gives extra credit. Test online and open book. Cumulative final. Upholds you to a high collegiate standard. 10/10 would take again.
Such an interesting class. She's really good at explaining.
This was a asynchronous class. Weekly modules to read, quiz, videos, and writing assignments. 3 Exams, 1 Final Exam. Easy work, you just have to complete your assignments and do well on the exams. There is no study guide. Not sure how she is professor-wise since there was no interactions, but the work load is manageable. Just got to stay on top.
Very straightforward class with fairly simple course material. Lots of opportunities for points and extra credit. Shes very helpful and responds quickly whenever you have concerns. Interesting videos and course material integrated into and in addition to the lectures. Grades exams on a very big curve :)
What you learn in the class was super interesting. The professor didn't enjoy too much; the class is exam based so if you are a good test taker you will pass with flying colors. For those who aren't either be prepared to read hella and study your ass off or just don't take the class. She gives about 2hrs or more or reading assignments.
She definitely cares but she is for sure one of the only prof I had this semester who was organized and stayed on top of what she said for the syllabus. There is a lot if work but honestly she gives you the materials so you could learn and understand what is going on.
there is a lot of textbook reading for this class. One chapter is covered each week and you have additional assignments each week. Four tests. They aren't hard if you did the weekly work and she curves them. She gave a lot of extra credit which really helps your grade if you do it. Overall, not hard but very time consuming class.
Online class; wasnt hard but homework was time consuming. A chapter per week + review questions of the chapter + occasional lab + videos. Gives xtra credit often. Open note exams (but study regardless cause lots of memorizing). Very straightforward class and criterias. Work ahead when you can as future hwk open a week early.
This was a good class. However, way too much homework and very time consuming. Too much reading and little time to memorize. Tests are open note, however they are very long with a short given amount of time, so there is no point looking through notes. Teacher is nice though, I guess.
Very caring Professor! The class was very organized which was nice as you now what to expect weekly. Be ready to spend a few hours a week on this class's homework. Exams are very tough if you do not read the textbook word for word. Each chapter is about 25 pages. The weekly "Inquizitive" chapter study website gets VERY annoying if you do not read.
Too much outside work each week. Besides the long chapters, you're assigned Inquizative, ZAPs, a writing assignment, and TED talk videos every week! Imagine having to get all those done along with your other assignments. ouch. They are too time consuming and unnecessary. Don't recommend.
i would not recommend! there's a new chapter to read every week. there's lots of reading, since it's a asynchronous class! inquizitive (homework every week) was very annoying, and writing assignments! test were was fairly hard. the only thing i liked about her class was that she has lecture videos recorded, tedtalks, and she gave out extra credit.
Nice professor. You have to read a chapter a week which is very time-consuming and on top of that, there are other videos, lectures, articles you have to read. Inquisitive can be very annoying also. There are 4 exams that are all open note, so as long as you spend time taking notes on the chapter reading you will get an A on them.
I had her for an asynchronous class, which IMO is just more work vs synchronous ones but even with that, I still liked her class and just the professor in general. She explains things very well and you NEED to pay attention to the videos she posts and to her lectures because her tests are based on those.
Professor Bovard gave so much homework, with a chapter of the textbook that is subdivided into up to 24 sections. You have to read it because you then have to complete an interactive quiz on the reading. She provides hour-long lectures on the topic and then a ppt and writing assignment. Tests were directly from the textbook. Very heavy workload.
She was a very caring professor! However she assigned lots of homework, but it was all pretty manageable. The class was a bit difficult content-wise, but I did pretty good since I took an additional SI tutoring course. Everything you need is in the textbook!
This class was fully asynchronous. Lots of homework but it is all manageable the only part that will get you is the tests. Make sure you make study guides like she tells you to and study, it really helps. Otherwise, this class is manageable and easy.
Great Professor. She just gives a lot of homework and tests were based on lectures. Long as you do the work on time and make your study guides you should be fine.
UNFAIR EXAM CONTENT the exams have very specific divisive questions that aren't even related to the actually content we are learning, its clear she cares about her work and students, but her tests are horrible and unfair. they include questions on specific details of lectures from months ago that no one remembers.
The course work is fair and interesting in my opinion except for the assignments via McGraw-Hill. They are tedious! Exams are difficult b/c the questions are so specific and can be from ANYTHING that she provides as material. It makes it really hard to study since she doesn't provide lectures, ppts, or study guides. Exams are curved though...
There is so much content (videos, textbook, readings), but no lectures. This class was essentially self-taught with very little support from the professor. The exams were difficult due to the nitpicky questions. Though, the exams are online, open-note, and curved because the class struggles with them.
Exams are really hard! Even with writing down vocab words and completing the chapter study guides, the exams were really difficult due to how she words them. Although there were some extra credit opportunities, I found it difficult to secure an A in this class even with having an A in all categories except for assessments.
The work!! :( There are 3 exams in addition to the final, and they are worded in a way that makes it difficult to understand the questions. Plus the given time limit is not enough! There is also A LOT of homework. All assignments are due on Saturdays, there are times you have to complete 3 to 4 assignment, even on the same day as an exam.
Get ready to teach yourself and learn through youtube videos and your textbook. Professor doesn't provide PPTs, lectures, or study guides. All the assignments are due on Saturday. The exams are very tough.. so tough that she curved every single one which is one thing I did appreciate.
Super kind teacher and understanding! Took it online but she was great at updating and making assignments clear and concise. If PSYC 2 is a requirement for you, take it with Prof. Bovard she is great!
This class was very easy and straight forward to take. Professor Bovard is very sweet and fast at replying back. Class has weekly quizzes based on the online texts and sometimes discussions.
Class was easy to follow and the quizzes are timed but brief. Lots of reading and video but the subject was really interesting.
Weekly quizzes even during (2) exams and finals. A lot of reading and watching tedtalks/crash course. VERY condescending and there is 3 hours of research required. Claims to care about our mental health but does not give students a break. I feel like I taught myself, barely if any of the material came from her, just stuff she found on YouTube.
Can seem like a lot of work for an online class, but it is easy. Quizlet is ur bestie. Most work is put into weekly discussions. One discussion and a quiz per week. Super manageable for an online course. Other online profs should take notes...
Professor Bovard is amazing, she is good at getting back to students. You do not have to buy a textbook for this class, it is all provided. There are 2-3 research credits you need to do by a certain date, make sure to get them done as early as possible for extra credit. No homework, just weekly quiz, some discussions. I suggest this class highly.
Professor provides a lot of busy-work, but it is all due at the end of the week. Overall easy if you manage your time well.
Professor Bovard is extremely kind, caring, and understanding. This class was asynchronous, but be prepared for a lot of readings. They were very interesting, but it would sometimes feel like an extreme amount of work, along with all of my other schoolwork. Some exam questions are really confusing, but just be sure to take a lot of notes.
This class has a lot of work, but if you stay on top of the readings and make study guides, you can do well. The exams are tricky, but unstuck AI was a great tool to help me prepare. Overall, a manageable course with a caring professor.
