Tori is an amazing teacher. Totally understanding, fun to talk to, a good person to learn from. Very motivational, very down-to-earth teacher. I had her for UE and wish I could have her again for Life After Death, but can't fit the class in. You won't regret taking ant of her classes!
Tori is an amazing teacher. I had her for University Experience. I was scared I'd get some wacko making me memorize gen ed req. I feel a lot more comfortable with the campus now and I know where to go for help. Take this class I recommend it!
BORING BORING BORING - Great topic and usually I enjoy the religious studies courses and professors but she really does not know how to engage the class, make the subject come alive, or in my view teach at all.
Meh, they don't know what they're talking about. Tori's ****ing amazing, it's not her fault that a 4 credit hour class is jammed into 6 weeks, there's only so many things you can do. She did an awesome job, really fair, cool, engaging teacher.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! She's the coolest. Very nice, very informative, very clear.
Ms. Lockler is WONDERFUL. I can't imagine the reason for the derogatory comments below. Perhaps students who did not do well?
Good teacher, knows her stuff. I like the way the religions class was run; really enjoyable and not too hard at all.
my UE class was really easy, and she was a great teacher. She always understood when you had a problem and did anything she could to help you turn in your assignments, and if you needed more time because of an unforseen circumstance, she gave you more time.
She's ok, but boring!
Very interesting class and prof. keeps you interested. She did an excellent job. I would recommend this class to any one. It is an easy A if you study. I never studied and passed with a B. Do not buy the books, they are useless. If you do, you don't need to read them. She puts PP Presentations up. Just take good note from those.
The course was very interesting. Lots of reading(I took summer B) but it was all worth it. Exams are fairly easy if you listen to the lectures and read the books she tells you to read. However, throughout the course I had a feeling that Mrs Lockler's knowledge of the religions is kinda limited..There are regular quizzes too.
one of the best professors i've ever had. kept me motivated and interested. i took this as a gordon rule, and liked it so much better than tests. she graded the essays fairly, which was good, beause im not too much of a writer. awesome professor. really is.
I loved this class. It was really interesting and I learned a lot. This is the second class I've taken with her, and I will take any others she offers. It is a Gordon Rule class, so there is a lot of writing, but she makes it easy and interesting. Plus she grades fairly. I recommend anyone to take this class!!!
shez the ebst professor ever she made the class so easy that u have to be dumb if u dont understand and she can explin to u over and over.and answers all the questions she is the lovliest person on earth. I loved that class more than any other one
LOVED THIS CLASS! learned alot about different religions and enjoyed the class. No tests, no quizzes, but an essay every other week. She is one of the nicest teachers. easy approachable.
Even though this is a Gordon Rule class, it is still pretty easy. She's not a hard grader and the papers are straight forward and easy to write on. Attendance is mandatory, but the lectures are interesting, so its not that bad. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a Gordon Rule class to take!!!
She is a good professor and study her review she study guide sheets and you will do well in her class. She is a nice person ans loves talkinf to students about their situations. Take her if you want to fo good in the class
Professor Lockler is the best Professor at USF!!!! I have taken several classes with her and they all have been great. Attendance is mandatory but she is an easy grader! Very interesting lectures, you will definitely want to be in class.
She is an AWESOME Professor. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. She is very passionate about the course and makes it very interesting. Extremely helpful and understanding. No tests, just papers/essays, which are easy, as long as you follow her instructions.
took religion and violence, great class, very fun and interesting. 1/2 of course is student taught. each student does 1 group presentation and 2 tests. she tries to hype up tests to be harder than they are. Easy A!! Great teacher.
Wonderful professor! Very clear on what she wants... almost impossible to not get an A... She's one of the sweetest professors at USF and she really knows her stuff... Makes any topic interesting! Take her!!!
Life After Death is the most interesting class that I have ever taken, and Tori Lockler made it fun. She is knowledgeable and helpful if you have a question. Everything is out of her Power Point presentations, so be sure to study those. This is an awesome Major Works and Major Issues class whether you are in the Religious Studies department or not.
I've taken Life After Death and Contemporary Religious Ethics with Tori. AMAZING professor! She made the class fun and it was really interesting. She is somewhat easy if you read the selections she has asked to read. But overall she made it fun to learn. Go to class! Read the books and youre good!! :o)
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! I read all of these comments so I took her, huge mistake! She is biased and has favorites. When she grades papers, she doesn't write any comments, just the grade. The class could be ok if someone else taught it, she is not fit to be teaching
great professor, great subject. Read what's required and pay attention in class, an easy A. Some classes are movie days followed by discussion groups. would take another class with her.
great professor. Study the powerpoints and you will be fine.
Fantastic teacher. As others have said, follow the slides and you'll do fine on the quizzes and tests. She incorporates movies into the curriculum in a cool, relevant way, too.
STAY AWAY!! I read comments so I decided to take her class. She is extremely BIAS!!! She changes the time of the quizzes randomly and also changes the topics the day of so u don't know what quizzes are on until u get to class. Material interesting but take this class with FASCHING!!!
Religion & Violence - extremely interesting class. Lockler knows her stuff and is very passionate about the subject. If you are a closed minded person, save yourself and don't take this class. If you speak hateful towards the studied groups, Lockler will shut you down. Plain and simple. She doesn't have "favorites" or have "biases" towards anyone.
Good & fair professor! Well-constructed class! For the most part she kept my attention! The movies really helped and gave more meaning to them than I thought. Listen and read over the slides and you will do fine!
Loved her! Took 3 classes with her and enjoyed all of them. She is one of the sweetest professors ever and I highly recommend her!
I was not interested in this class in the least when I registered. Prof. Lockler really made the class interesting with her lectures and her choice of visual aid. She showed a lot of movies and documentary clips to help enforce the material. VERY EASY TO PASS. I never opened a book and missed quite a few classes.
I taken many religion class, mostly online. But this class was 4 hours. Not to bad though, her lectures flow and we always watch a full length movie. Exam was easy, came from power points. As long as you show up and stay for all of class there is no reason not to get an A, and possibly learn something new!
Took her for Life Afer Death. Really knows what she's talkin about. Great teacher! The class was 4 hours, but she made the material interesting. We would watch relevant movies half the time, the go over slides for the rest of the 2 hours. Very interesting class. Go to class, study the slides, and you will do great! Tests were pretty easy.
She is an awesome teacher. She is very interested in what she is talking about and tries to relate it to us. She is very helpful and very understanding, she will work with you if you have questions. She is very easily approachable. I recommend her for this class and any class she may teach!
Nice teacher but BORING material! If you are not interested in Life After Death, you will be sleeping for the long, and dreadful 2 hours and 20 minutes of the class. Powerpnts were boring! Tests were NOT easy! Her true and false questions were often tricky and can lead you to second guess yourself. A LOT to read! Got a B, but I regret taking it :(
Very nice and helpful teacher. She's very interested in what she is teaching and her surpassing knowledge in the area shows. She is very approachable and cares about the student understanding the concept and welcomes questions about ANYTHING that you are interested in about the religions. She caters the class to the students and is very generous.
Wonderful teacher. Really knows her stuff. Lenient with scheduling and leaves some wiggle room. She's very entertaining and shows really interesting films. She's super sweet and understanding. Take it!
If it's available, take this Human & Global Diversity class with her. I took it with deChant and got a D. Came out of her class with an A. It's really dull material, but she makes it interesting enough. Attendance counts so make sure you're there. 4 quizzes and a mid term and final. Super, super easy. Take it with her!
Awesome teacher! She really knows the material and will make sure that you understand it. She can answer any and every question you throw at her. She makes the class interesting and easy to follow along.
Very easy class. If you go to class and pay attention to her and the movies you will get an A. Study the powerpoints focusing on her study guides and exams will be a breeze, just HAVE to go to class, but it goes by fast surprisingly.
REALLY nice professor and does not make class too hard. You'll have essays and a big presentation, but it's not that bad. She is definitely willing to help you, and almost everything is pretty much opinionanted. Also, mthere was a lot of just discussing in class which was quite interesting. I definitely recommend her.
Definitely recommend! Great lectures, interesting topics & films in class! Never opened any of the textbooks, so no need to buy!! There are 5 quizzes plus 1 extra credit quiz. Two exams (midterm & final). Mandatory attendance. No papers! Great class and professor! Easy A and you'll actually learn something :) TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Professor Lockler is an awesome professor!!! She's really sweet and is very clear about what is expected in class. Attendance is mandatory, all you have to do is show up, pay attention and review her powerpoints and you should be good. She makes the material really interesting so that you will actually want to learn. I got an A!
She knows her stuff, her grading on the papers is inconsistent & unfair. Make sure to ask a lot of questions on what she will be markin off on the papers. Ask questions, she is good at explaining anything. She wont return any emails so if you have questions see her during class. Nice woman, fun class, interesting material.
Very interesting material. She is extremely knowledgable and very helpful with answering questions. Attend all class to get attendance points. Test and quizzes are easy if you study the power points and pay attention in class. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!
Intro to Worl Religion was my first class in college and I got an A+. There's a book that I chose to read but everything you need to know is on a PPT. Also there are a couple of 1 page double spaced papers where you have to answer questions such as How Christianity and Islam interpret God. Simple stuff. Also go to class for attendance points.
Lots of writing so be prepared. Her grading is tuff so watch your grammer and edit your paper a lot. She is very helpful if you ask her questions.
Great Professor, she definitely knows what she's talking about.
Mrs. Lockler is so sweet and helpful! Her class is very straight forward and all quiz answers come from the power points. She recommends reading the text but it's not necessary. Only downside is the really boring videos she shows. She gives 5 one page double spaced papers, 6 quizzes a midterm and a final. Final is not cumulative. TAKE LOCKLER!!
Tori Lockler definitely knows what she is talking about. This class was really interesting, but there's a lot of information to learn. Overall good class though
Honestly, she was just really boring. Nice woman and all, but reading from powerpoints held my interest for maybe 2 seconds. The work is a BREEZE. I just hated going to class. She did cancel alot though, which was nice.
Dr. Lockler is a great professor. As long as you write your reflection papers and show up to class, you will have no problem what so ever. You do probably need to buy the book. Great teacher, super nice and flexible also.
Lockler is probably the best professor I have taken in the REL dept. She is very open, genuinely interested in her students, and does not push any personal belief like some REL professors. I highly recommend this class with her for all REL students!
Writing intensive. Gordon Rule only requires 6,000 typed words, you will have 10,000 typed words by the end. Doesn't respond to emails very well. Takes forever to get your grades back. There is a 2 page paper due once a week along with a 5 page midterm and 5 page final. she even makes those two page papers due the same day as the midterm & final
She is so passionate, so helpful and such a sweetheart!
Lockler is amazing! I have never met a professor before with such passion and love for her field of study. Her essay assignments aren't that bad as long as you don't procrastinate and you give a through analysis for each topic.
Deintelty an easy class, take her if you can.
Great all-around teacher! DO NOT take Religious Quest in Contemporary Film if you don't like writing because one 2-3 page essay is due every week along with a 5-8 page midterm paper and 5-8 page final paper.
Loved this class and professor. Lots of papers, but she takes the time to work with you and make sure you are understanding. Received an A in this class.
I thought her papers were simple to write, there are quite a lot of them but it's really easy to tie into the text when discussing the films. Make sure you know APAMLA very well because she does check! She truly reads each paper & I enjoyed reading her feedback. A little sassy if you're late to class but all in good manner. Speak up in class!
Professor Lockler is an amazing teacher. Her class, Issues of Carib Religions consisted of 8 reflection papers, out of the 8, 5 were due. In addition, a group project, a final paper, and take home exam. The reflections are 2-3 pages of your reflection on what you read. As long as you read, it is not difficult. Definitely recommend taking.
She assigns 10 papers throughout the semester based on the films that we watch (Each of them 2-3 pages long), but you are able to drop 3 of them. The textbook was a little tedious to get (had to buy it at a nearby printshop that was off-campus), but you'll need to read the articles that tie into the moves, as well as cite them in your papers.
She is a great professor and is willing to meet with students outside of the classroom to review their papers. You must write 5, 2-3 pages, and 1 final paper 6-8 pages about the religions covered. Take home final exam that is 2 essays, each 2-3 pages. Material is very interesting and its easy to do the work. Participation is key! Would take again!!
Ms. Lockler is a great teacher! Religious Quest in Contemporary Film is a pretty simple class. There are 10 2-3pg papers to write (3 can be dropped). There is also a midterm and final paper to do both that are 5-8pgs long. The movies are interesting so you won't be bored. Definitely recommend if you need both a Humanities and Gordon Rule course!
Good professor. Very fair grading system. HELPFUL TIP: DON'T go to class 1 second late; she WILL kick you out (Happened to about 5 people the first week). Assigns 8 papers (2-3 pages in length) and a take home final exam. You can drop your lowest 3 papers. There is also 1 group project. She's always willing to stay after class and answer questions.
I'm taking Lockler for Issues in Carib. Religions right now and she's the best professor I've ever had. She's always excited about class and willing to help students with any questions. Interesting and interactive discussions, and you can drop 3 papers. Very fair assignment wise. I definitely recommend her, fun and easy capstone course!
Respect her and she'll respect you. Do the papers and the readings and the class will go fine. Most of the grades are papers because it's a writing intensive class.
Great professor! Definitely not a push-over, but very fair! She expects a good amount of effort from her students but not more than what would be standard for any collegiate course. Very passionate and knowledgable about what she teaches. So long as you make an effort, you WILL get an A.
This class consisted of watching movies and applying religious concepts. Prof. Lockler does a good job explaining those concepts. There are 10 2-3 page reflection papers and two 4-5 page term papers. If you are a decent writer this class is a breeze.
Definitely never taking one of her classes again. She is completely irrational and grades crazy on the papers that are due every week. I told her I had a wedding to go to weeks before the day and she said that there would be a quiz that day, but she doesn't do makeup quizzes so I got a zero on that quiz and couldn't do anything about it.
What I liked most about this class is how well she is at explaining the material. You could throw any question at her and she would not only answer but go really in depth to make sure everyone understood. She would never move on if there was still a lot of confusion. Her patience is amazing.
You only have to write 8 papers in the class and she drops 3. There is a final at the end and if you miss 5 classes she can give you a C if she wants to. I only took the class for a writing intensive credit, I wouldn't have otherwise. Overall easy class, just wish attendance wasn't counted.
Tori Lockler is my favorite professor in the department. She is always available to help a student and truly cares about them.
She is very passionate about teaching about religions and clearing up any misconceptions and misunderstandings that certain religions have. She really wants her students to learn and she cares about them. She is a lenient grader and will give students a break more often than not. Take a class with her, you won't regret it.
Dr. Lockler is a true gem. She possesses so much knowledge and really knows how to keep the lecture interesting. The semester was not long enough. Take this course!
Professor Lockler gives great feedback and writing criticism for papers and discussion questions. Her online class is asynchronous, so there are no classes to join, which can be good or bad - just depends on you. Overall, class was an easy A and interesting to read about.
Given different method options to choose (synchronous in person, online or asynchronous) which was nice. Lots of weekly reading and response papers and then a big research paper at the end of the semester. There was a few times we weren't able to submit on canvas and one of our earlier response papers went ungraded for like 2 months.
Lockler is solid but not amazing. I really like her bubbly personality, knowledge, and passion for the subject, but for the weekly papers, she doesn't say what she wants. The class isn't hard, she also drops two papers out of the 7 total. The class is a bit more boring than I had thought. She takes a long time or simply doesn't respond to emails.
if you take this class it's probably going to be the easiest one in your schedule. our grade is made up of 7 reflection papers (2-4 pages) throughout the semester (only required to do 5) and 2 mini-projects. other than that, you're pretty much sitting there watching a documentary or discussing global issues. shes an easy professor who's passionate
I had her for REL 3167, and it was such a hands on and fun class. We talked about difficult topics, but she welcomes disagreements and hard conversations in a safe environment.
honestly, not a huge fan of locker. theres 7 reflection papers which isnt a big deal, but theres little/no instruction to them, so if you do what you think is right and it ends up being wrong in her eyes, you get points off. if it does end up being wrong, sometimes her responses to it are pretty rude and not helpful. decent discussions. 5/10 class
Not a hard class but instructions are extremely unclear. 3 papers due at end of semester with little to no clear instruction. No rubrics or clear guideline for paper worth nearly whole grade. Not very good professor
throughout the whole semester, none of us have had a grade to view on canvas. All of a sudden midterm grades are due and we've been turning in weekly discussion points for 3 points and all of us have a C on oasis. then two weeks before the semester ends she assigns 4 final paper that felt like busy work withno purpose. I would not take her again.
I'm very surprised with some of the low ratings. I think the professor is great and it is a very interesting class. Yes there are no rubrics for the papers (reflections etc.) but she is not a hard grader. It really is about personal experience. The syllabus is detailed and lays out the whole semester. If you want an easy grade, take her!
REL3167 was so easy, but if u have other options, dont take locker. never knew what my grade was, the tas do everything for her, she sometimes doesnt know when assignments are even due. all of the assignments were busy work. watched 100 dumb films. save time and skip her class seriously. i wish i would have listened to these reviews before
I absolutely LOVED this professor...I have taken her for REL 3375 & 3167 and have no regrets. She is extremely knowledgeable, passionate and enthusiastic about the subject. There are easy weekly writing assignments (7 drops 2). One or two TAs based on class size. Need advice or help talk to her or TA, simple. Awesome prof. I would take her again.
i turned in a paper essay and she said there was no record of it.
Took Rel of Healthcare. Extremely doable. One discussion board a week, discuss the readings from the free textbook. Interesting+necessary content if Premed about ethics. Dr. Lockler is very responsive and in touch with students. She complimented all of our pet photos
One thing to beware of is that the assignments are most likely due before the date showed on canvas. Also, her and her TAs don't answer emails so its a very independent class. Overall information is easy and interesting, but I feel as though points can be taken off for no reason.
I have taken 3 classes with her and she is very easy going. Her papers are basically personal self-reflections on the readings and she does not grade harshly. if you do the work you have nothing to worry about. She will work with you if need be but you have to ask. The curriculum is you have to write, so write. Her class is always enjoyable.
Class is based on weekly readings on multiple books, but you can get by without reading everything. She really likes group projects and assignments, but class is not hard as she only gave one weekly reflection paper and a final research project. No exams!!!
Be prepared to read for this course. There are 12 discussion posts, a midterm, and a final. The 12 discussion post each have their own readings from a chapter in the textbook to reading 100-something pages of a book. The midterm and final are based on the readings as well. Great course to learn about overall, but tons of reading.
She's a very sweet person who is willing to extend assignment deadlines or even let you avoid certain subject matters if you let her know ahead of time. I took her for RPHDD, so sometimes things got heavy, but she still made the class enjoyable. Be prepared to read several chapters every night to keep up, but it definitely is worth it and pays off.
I am really not sure how good professor Lockler is because this entire class was run by literally a dozen TAs. They were all on different pages for grading, it was a mess. My TA would take off multiple points for things like putting a comma in the wrong spot. Sucks to have your GPA held hostage for a few grammatical mistakes.
NO CREDIT TO LOCKLER FOR ANYTHING. MY TA IS THE ONE I AM THANKFUL FOR! I got 100% on everything because of my TA. Lockler is disorganized and has not respect for students. Assignments unclear and we are left to figure everything ourselves. Expect to readand take exams with no clue how to answer. No average grading, all points added determine grade.
I never really interacted with the professor but she seems to be a nice person, this class is run by TAs though and I enjoy mine. However, there are weekly lengthy discussion posts and lots of reading. Overall easy but did not enjoy the experience.
I think the learning material was genuinely interesting, but trying to squeeze out 500 words from a single question (some assignments give you more prompts to choose from which is nice!!) was difficult most times. Thankfully you don't have to buy anything for this course, but some assignments were so disorganized... be prepared to figure it out.
The class itself is easy, however, the course is heavily managed by TAs. It is mostly based on discussion posts but sometimes they are difficult since the minimum requirement is 500 words but you have to squeeze that out based on a simple question that is given to you.
Anytime I needed anything regarding this class, I talked to the TA. I didn't interact with Dr. Lockler for anything. The curriculum itself is interesting, but I didn't like how she taught the class. Most of the time, it was documentaries, or talking the entire time about a powerpoint or quotes. Class was boring, but the work is easy if you do it.
If I'm honest, the content of the course was very interesting but lectures were often boring and was a struggle to sit through. She doesn't respond to email very quickly so you mostly interact with the TA who also grades most assignments. Project are a large portion of grade with little instructions but seem to be graded loosely. Overall easy A.
Get stuff done early. Not very accommodating to issues upon completion.
Basically is just a discussion post every week, it's not difficult at all. towards the end you do have to write a paper but it's doable and an easy enough A. there is a midterm and final exam, but they're open book
Dr. Lockler doesn't really teach the class. It's mostly the TA's running the class, and their grading guidelines are not consistent at all. I got points taken off an assignment because I indented my paragraphs. This class (online at least) was an absolute mess and I cannot recommend it unless you get real lucky with a lenient TA.
TA's run this class, the actual professor. There are weekly discussion posts, two essays, and two exams. The weekly discussion posts are easy, but she is a very hard grader on the essays and exams. She also doesn't comment on why points were taken off.
Don't take the class. The ta's are grading and they take their sweet time.
This was an online class so I didn't really interact with Professor Lockler, but the Canvas and its content are extremely clear and easy to understand. The class is just discussion posts, with a midterm and final exam, as well as two papers. It's easy to get into a routine with the class, super easy!
This is a very interesting class. Dr. Lockler is clear about what is expected. The majority of this class is a discussion post per week, with a midterm and a final as well. Dr. Lockler offers multiple extra credit opportunities and is very easy to reach out to if you need help.
Class is made up of 500 word discussion posts every week, 2 essays, a midterm and a final. TA's grade everything. The TA's grade differently so some grade easier than others, I got lucky and had a lenient TA.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Honestly take it with any other professor, the class content itself is manageable and enjoyable but the grading for this class is horrible. TA's will grade everything, and don't even look at the rubric because it doesn't even matter the TA's grade off whatever they want to. Inconsistent grading criteria.
TA's run the class. This professor doesn't do the traditional grading system and at one point didn't post assignments. Still not sure what my exact grade is. Assignments aren't hard but TA took off points for things not on the rubric. The professor isn't open to emails, TA doesn't respond to comments. Not a hard class but definitely annoying.
TA run the class, pretend the TA is the teacher, my ta pretty much graded for completion, there is also almost 15% overall extra credit offered through the semester, which is just being in 3 zoom calls and eating pizza and watching a movie on a random tuesday, ignore negative reviews a fourth grader would find this class easy.
Such a great prof!! I loved her lectures and our class discussions! They were super engaging and really interesting. She gives information in a digestible way that made it really easy for me to understand. I also felt like her grading style was pretty lenient and fair. Overall, I would absolutely take her again.
great class. learned a lot. I don't love group projects, but this one was cool. gave alternative assignment options too which was nice
The Professor and class were both amazing. However, some of the TA were really overly critical and liked to take off points
the workload was easy. the grading expectations were clear and a lot of extra credit/live session help. idk why people are so upset about the TAs grading. i feel like that is the way all of my big online classes are.
