Awesome - I hate science but she made this class fun and interesting! I wish I had more profs like her!
Great professor, great curriculum. Helps you out, works the class as a whole. Hands out chapter review after each chapter. I did the problems in the book that she specifies via a handout the first day, and got an A on every test.
Very comprehending!
Boy can she teach! She makes it real easy to understand chemistry. She will sometimes explain subjects by using real life examples, which makes it real easy. You can tell she enjoys her work. If you do the problems on the chapter review worksheet, you will do just fine.
Very hard professor. Doesnt help you with special circumstances if you need help. Constantly gets off subject and blathers about nothing. Just very unprofessional and unhelpful. Grades very hard and tricky. Doesnt return emails or phone calls. I would not recommend her unless you are a chemistry major.
will you marry me? love, your student. great professor and mighty hot.
She is a very hard and tricky grader. If u get one simple little part of a question wrong then she counts all of it wrong. She can be rude at times and talks a lot. Sometimes she does make you laugh telling you stories about different things. She gives 7 test. I wouldn't take her again.
No-nonse, can be a bit harsh lady, but...FANTASTIC teacher. Tests are straight forward and to the point. Hands out study sheet for each chapter...just study terms and practice equations...lots of extra credit, too!!
A bit hard; but then again every chemistry teacher is. All you have to do is study and practice the problems. GREAT teacher, I will take her again.
She is definitely a good teacher. Her lectures are easy to understand. However she gives no partial credit (NONE at all). Just have to to study.
She is Awesome I even came to her when i didnt have her. She is very helpful very funny. and i like how down to earth she is. Just study you will be fine... My mistake is taking another teacher. HI Dr. Barclay. Gives out reviews after every chap. test just study notes and do equations u will be fine. But dont bring kids around her. hehe jp.
Awesome teacher! She knows what she's doing and makes you laugh and uses down to earth examples to help you understand. Study the notes and do the example problem sheets she gives out and you should do fine! Somewhat sarcastic, but it's in a funny way!
Excellent teacher. Didn't always like her attitude, but the young/hip thing is refreshing. Take good notes, try to find someone who took the class before and study their old tests, do the problems in the book and an A is easy to make. I skipped a lot and still made an A for the semester.
She's a great teacher. As expected of chemistry you have to do math problems, and have critical/thinking and reasoning. For those of you who complain about this teacher, you're just lazy. If you are a science major I recommend you this teacher as you are going to learn a lot from her.
AWESOME TEACHER. I TOOK HER ONLINE CLASS, AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. TOOK THIS SAME CLASS AT UH AND MADE AN AWFUL GRADE. LEARNED A WHOLE LOT MORE WITH DR. BARCLAY THAN WITH DR. GEANANGEL AT UH! VERY SATISFIED :)
Loved her class! She made a difficult subject seem easy; she explains things so well, and her lectures are actually interesting. Tests aren't hard and aside from studying, there isn't a lot of work outside the class. Highly recommend to anyone who has to take any chemistry. Favorite teacher at NHC.
sHE IS OK... PAY VERY GOOD AT HER NOTES AND COME TO CLASS
best chem. professor at nhc. had her for checm I and II. exams can be a bit tricky but its nothing dat wasn't covered. wants to give the impression of being a b...h but in reality she's not. not an easy A but not hard either.
She explains the topics very well, but her tests are very tricky!!! She makes class interesting and fast going
great prof. show her respect, don't talk during class, dont be a wiseass, she'll beat you at it. Take great notes, and go to class and you'll do well. Oh, and listen to lab directions, or shell call you embarass you when you reask questions.
I had her in summer school, if you have to take chem, take it from her!! She is very clear, works out a ton of problems and is so willing to help you!! I made an A in the class and I'm terrible in chem - when I took it at my usual college I dropped it but did great with her!!
Great instructor and never boring. She gets to the point on all of the material and lectures material that will be on her tests. Extremely knowlegeable in chemistry and is a great help when a student struggles in understanding concepts. She is no nonsense teacher so don't go to her class and sleep and expect a decent grade.I highly recommend her.
OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR. She breaks down things to where pretty much anyone with a brain can understand it, and she makes it fun and interesting. I took her for Chem I/II and really enjoyed her. She is sharp witted, professional, humorous, and an absolute wiz with chemistry and the knack to teach. HIGHLY recommend her for any chemistry class.
GREAT TEACHER! She explains everything and welcomes any questions and is very approachable. Exams come straight out of the notes so you never have to go to the book. HW is not mandatory. She is an awesome professor and i would recommend this class to anyone who ever had to take chemistry. She is seriously THE BEST chem teacher EVER!
I took her online/hybrid class. While she is pretty clear, most of us did not perform as good as we could have. We met once a week and every week there was a quiz at the begining of class. These quizzes could make or break you. I did the best on her labs and I don't even want to talk about the tests. If you have a lot of extra time take it online.
i took her hybrid course, we had to meet once a week to do the lab and the quiz. She's pretty clear about what she wants. She gives out a sheet of problems that she suggest you to do before the tests. So if you do them, you'll be fine. Her final was super easy!
vey good prof. no nonsense. explains things well. dont fall asleep or she will not like you. highly recommended.
Took her Hybrid course (study online, labs one day per week). Good teacher but does not accept any nonsence. The problem with this class is that if you cannot totally discipline yourself then you will NOT do well. I have a 3.8 GPA and had to drop her class because my test grades were soooo low. Most people dropped the class... find another prof!
Dr. Barclay is very funny! She's very flexible and it's easy to make an A in her class. Just take notes which is what she writes on the board, do the practice questions in the book, make sure you know everything on the review sheets and you'll make easy A. She does not keep you in class for the whole entire 3 hours.
Has a great sense of humor. She does not teach out of the book, so what we talk about in class is what is going to be on the tests. Hands out reviews sheets and is very helpful with any questions. What recommend anytime!
great teacher, extremely helpful but expects a lot from her students and rightfully so. not a blow off class but the best chemistry teacher I have ever had by far. This was my second attempt at chemistry
I took her summer hybrid course and got a B, but my fault I didn't get the A...not due to her in anyway. She is very upfront with her expectations and what to study. You will not have anything on the test she did not tell you would be on it and did not fully explain. Would recomend her anytime!
Outspoken, no-nonsense, upfront instructor. This is a good thing for a chemistry class. She doesn't hold hands, but she will answer all intelligent questions.
This is one doesn't talk and want to hear nonsence, so don't ask stupid questions. Very helpful, very upward. Pay as much attention as you can, the A can be guaranteed then.
Sassy, brilliant woman. Keeps class interesting. When emergencies happen she is very willing to work things out with you. She does not like tardiness so be in class on time! Tough but fair and she really knows her stuff!
She is very helpful. If you ever need to email her with a question she responds fast. Her test are not easy though..you have to know the material. She makes sure you know the material. Ive had several chem. teachers and shes was one of my favs.
I recommend her. She is a really good teacher. I thought chemistry would be hard but taking her class made it very easy and interesting. You have 4 exams and a comprehensive final. Study your notes and you'll make and A. Her exams are on exactly everything she teaches. Take her!!!! You'll learn alot.
She is a good teacher, but tends to go off-topic a lot in the middle of the lecture. However, overall, if you read the book understand the concepts and do the homework problems you should make a good grade.
i personally did not like the class atmosphere that she created, but she does come across clear to her students. There is no partial credit on tests but she does have extra credit to even that out. all and all her class was prolly a little to easy if your going into a chemistry setting. honestly i got an A in the class when i prolly shouldnt have
I thought she was a relly good teacher and she worked hard to help the students understand the material. She gives a study guide and plenty of book problems if you need extra work. Overall she was great.
Great Prof!! Smart, witty, no-nonsense, organized lecture notes, hard but straight forward tests, very helpful and last but not least, she is hot!! She definitely made me more interested in chemistry.
I was not as impressed with this class as some were in prior posts. I found the professor to be knowledgable of the subject, yet she uses brash and crude comments to present subject matter accross. If you study your butt off, you will still probably fail if you arent best friends with her, or have been in previous classes. Not Impressed
One of the best at LSC/NHC. The course is very difficult and her personality can be as well, but she is a wonderful teacher IF you put the time and effort into studying. I had a 79 in the course and she wouldn't bump it up- no free points here, but that's a *real* school for you. If you want to really learn the material take Dr. Barclay.
Sarcasm and crudeness aside, Dr. Barclay is an amazing teacher. SUPER knowledgeable, great communicator, gives chances to earn bonus points, very clear about tests, organized, timely, and helpful. Chemistry is hard. I don't know what people want- she can't take the test for you! Just study your butt off-so far I have an A on the first 3 tests.
If you are premed and care about your gpa STAY AWAY!
Maybe she used to be a good teacher, but now she is lazy and rude. Find a different professor.
I dropped. Maybe it is just too late in life for me to learn chemistry.
I personally had a bad experience. But chemistry is not my area. I guess I will take it again with another teacher.
This class is easy - of course Im relly great at chem so - so far I am making an A
She likes to laugh at mistakes students have made on prior tests. She likes to laugh at students' questions. These people are turning to her for help and she shouldn't make fun of them.
I attended all classes, except late a couple of times and paid attention. I completed all work on time. Did all homework on time, though we don't turn in. Studied for all tests about 2 to 6 hours each. Made above 95 on first 3. She's perfect for me. Extremely clear and high integrity. Very hot lady.
I went into this class not knowing what to expect. I've never liked chemistry but taking Dr. Barclay's class changed my mind. Her tests can be hard but they are straight forward. If you study the material, you should do well. I made an "A," and I didn't think that was possible. She's a good teacher.
Dr. Barclay is the best teacher at LSC-NH. She is very easy. All you have 2 do is just go over ur notes everyday so you can get thing memorized. Easy A in the class. She is very helpful by writing everything u need 2 know on the board, and the test come straight out from that. U don't have 2 use ur book unless u want 2 do extra review.
She can be moody and snarky at times, but she is very clear and concise. She doesn't inundate students with a bunch of junk that won't be on the test. The material is difficult, but she makes it manageable. Don't get on her bad side, don't come late or let your cell ring, she'll never forgive you for it.
Dr. Barclay is a great Chem teacher. She is very easy to understand and genuinely knows how to teach (go figure). She presents the material with a "no bs" attitude. Show up on time and don't text while in class. So many people that "teach" really don't know how but that's not the case in her class. If you don't learn from Dr. Barclay... you're going to have a very hard time understanding anyone else.
She's a no nonsense teacher, very straight forward and very entertaining. She is sarcastic, so if you're easily offended, be careful. What she teach and what she says will be on the test, simple as that. She gives additional problem worksheets that are extremely helpful! Do them daily and you can easily do her bonus surprise quizzes! Very fun prof!
Dr. Barclay's Chem I class is the best! I wish I could take her for Chem II. Her online lectures are easy to follow. The class is hard. It will require a lot of hard work, but I would highly reccomend her and Dr. J's hybrid course.
Do not take this lady!! I think she gose out of her way to make the class harder than what it is. She gives you no partial credit, and no curve. Not a good idea to take her.
I took the hybrid class summer '10. The labs were taught by Dr. J. and the lecture material was online with Dr. Barlcay. The online lectures were very well put together. There is no curve, partial credit, or extra credit, so you need to know the material before the test. Overall, they are good teachers, but no easy A.
Dr. Barclay's hybrid class is very easy and her lectures are EXTREMELY clear. She is a great instructor and is only a difficult teacher if you do not do your work. You get bonus points on the tests, and she is always available to answer questions. I enjoyed her sense of humor. This class is highly recommended by me to anyone.
Come to class, take notes, study practice problems, and do homework (not grade) and you will ace this class easily. Obviously, you'll need to study a little bit.
Very nice teacher.Tests are not very easy , but if you study well you can make A.She has a sens of humor .I enjoyed her class. If you want to undrestand chemistry ,take her. Highly recomended
RUN AWAY! She will take off points for sig figs and minor details when ever she can. She hopes the students will fail so she will have less to grade. She announces this in class. If you care about your GPA, stay away.
Really EASY blow off class!!! This is a good class if you have a heavy load. I just did my HW for my other classes while she lectured. There are no attendance requirements or HW to turn in! Showed up for tests and labs and aced this class! She is nice and did I mention HOT! Take her!
Professor Barclay is pretty leaned back and relaxed to teach. I had her as a hybrid class in summer. Just show up for labs and tests, all lecture is online. She is very helpful and understanding. Chem was hard in general, but Barclay is nice to explain the lesson
She is rely easy! I love her! Just stay awake during lectures and show up for the tests...on time! This is the class to take if you dont want to turn in homework. Take her and get good grade if you listens. And she is hot!
Overall, barclay is a really good professor. She does have her rude moments and her slick comments, but overall she is an outstanding professor. Be on time to class, study your notes, do the extra problems she assigns, and you'll do well. I took her along with 4 other classes and managed an A. This class is definitely not a breeze, but u can do it!
Professor Barclay gave amazing notes that I am actually currently using for my Chem 1411 class. She is very clear on how to go about solving problems. Labs are easy days. I really wish I could've taken her for ChemI but she wasn't teaching it this semester. I totally recommend her to chem lovers.
This prof structures this course to be harder than it should be for chemistry course. Students are not given enough time to finish her tests. She does not give partial credit. One little mistake punching the numbers on your calculator and you get zero on the problem. Hard to ask her questions because she is sarcastic and will put you down.
Professor Barclay runs a very structured class. She expects a lot from her students and her tests are built to test you. If you do your labs, show up, and do the extra assignments you will have no problem. She helped me to love chemistry. She will not answer questions, she helps you understand the problem and answer the question yourself.
RUN AWAY. When I was taking her class about 90% of the class was failing. Even a friend who recommended her, was failing. Not helpful. Disrespects students.
Worst teacher ever!!!! if you take her you are going to fail no matter what. 99% of the class was failing and she was not willing to help you. she is very rude and disrespectful. never got a bad grade in chemistry but she proved me wrong.
AMAZING Teacher! Had her for all my chemistry classes and she made it very easy to understand. She expects a lot and chem 2 was hard but she will spend time with you and answer all questions. Responds to emails timely, tests are brutal, lots of extra credit opportunities. If you want an easy A don't take her. If you want to learn, she's the best!
Great teacher! The way she teaches is just awesome like you would actually learn something in her class. But you also have to put in an effort. She does not give homework just extra problems for you to study. She made me love Chemistry.
I absolutely love the way Dr. Barclay teaches. She does not go by the book or power points, so if this is your way of learning, I would not recommend her. She is a bullet point type of teacher and is very thorough. Because she does not use the text book, attending class is vital for passing the tests.
Professor Barclay does not use a textbook, only lectures and labs, hard tests and no extra credit. She compares her Intro class to her Chem 2 classes A LOT! She can be condescending, intimidating, and snarky. During the allotted review days she gives you, she always seems annoyed if you actually speak up and ask her for questions to review.
Catching up is difficult after missing the first few classes. Notes from other students cannot supplement for a class. She's very thorough in teaching. Questions should be saved until she's done because she'll probably get to it while teaching. She can be very witty towards "dumb" questions. Class is easy to pass if engaged and practice often.
I took her for intro chem, chem 1 and chem 2. You definitely need to work for your grade but she makes everything very easy to understand and shes always willing to help. Show up everyday, write down everything she writes on the board and study !
Dr. Barclay is an excellent professor. She gives great lectures and you can tell she enjoys chemistry. There will be no homework and no use of the textbook, so you have to show up to class. She won't be mad if you are late or absent because she thinks that your grade is your own, so no extra credit either. Tests are almost your whole grade.
Great professor! She will "try" her best to accommodate your needs.
I took Dr. Barclay as a six week mini in the summer for CHEM 1411 and loved it! She answered my emails within 30 minutes, she released feedback and grades for exams and quizzes by the end of the last day to take it, and she was clear in her syllabus about her easy-to-follow grading system. I plan on taking her again for CHEM 1412 :)
6 Week Summer Course: Great class. Straight forward and to the point. No textbook, Notes with audio included, goes through every concept straight forward. Easy structure to the class, plenty of examples and practice problems. Had to go on youtube a few times but solid class, will take CHEM1412! Can imagine standard class even better.
Professor Barclay is a real gem, one of the greatest teachers I've taken at Lonestar. As a person who was retaking the course, I had a real sour taste in my mouth about Chemistry but she made me love the subject again. Work hard, and I promise you'll succeed. All the tools are provided for you, just put the work in and results will come.
Summer 2020 for 6 weeks online! I used to believe that I sucked at chem but after professor Barclay, I now have the confidence to tackle chem. She has very detailed worksheets and lectures that are straight to the point, knowledgeable, and very interesting. There are 3 tests and one final that can replace the lowest test grade and 6 labs. TAKE HER!
Chemistry is just a hard class, however every time I reached out to her she was willing to answer my questions. She is very passionate about chemistry and a good professor. I struggled a lot with the concepts of certain topics. Take her
Took her online for Chem 1405 and Chem 1411. Her lectures and notes are very thorough and easy to understand. Of course, chemistry is still a tricky subject so you'll have to put in some effort or you won't pass. She's very helpful and responds quickly to questions. Take her!
Barclay is a very solid choice if you want to have a professor that doesn't give you hundreds of tiny assignments. The tests are hard, so prepare for them as much as you can, or else they will mess up your grade. STEM classes are hard classes to take online anyway, so I would advise an in-person class if you are not confident in leading yourself.
Her lectures are just her going over the notes for the labs. (8 in total). I thought I understood it but when the exams came it was nothing like the labs or the review sheet she said to study. I would suggest going to YouTube to better understand the concept...
There are 8 labs and 5 exams in total, including the final. Her "lectures" are voice-recorded and crams in sooooooooo much information. I took Intro to Chem before this class and Gen Chem has the same material... this class is extremely difficult.
