Dr. Klass is a great teacher and a fairly easy grader! She is young, which enables students to better relate to her. Come to class, write the papers (1 informal paper a week, and 3 bigger papers throughout the semester) and participate in class and you will get a good grade.

She is not an easy grader as the other poster said. I won't take a class with her again
I thought I was a good writer until Dr. Klass took me down a couple of notches. Very nice lady, but VERY hard grader. I had only ever gotten A's in English/Lit until I took her class (I got a C). Oh, and the material was soooooo boring!

Good teacher. Requires 6 responses to text, 3 formal papers throughout the semester. Readings from the text were usually interesting and directly relate to the formal papers you'll have to write. She also encourages you to contact her outside of class if we had any questions and is quick to respond. Tough grader and you must go to class.
My only qualm about this class is the length. Don't ever take her for an hour and 45 minute class. It is a KILLER. Otherwise, I really enjoyed her discussions (when everyone participated) and loved the writing assignments. I do, however, wish she would switch it up a little instead of doing the same thing in class over and over.
Excellent English prof. Six informal responses (to text), three formal papers. I'd say she's somewhat of a tough grader on the formal papers, but far from unfair. Readings from Norton Reader pretty much directly related to formal papers, but the topics are still broad enough to be creative with them. I'd go to her again if I needed more Eng creds.
This women KNOWS she's pretty and seems really into herself. She's fair but makes sure everyone knows she's a DOCTOR. LOL
So nice and so fine i would take her
Very nice teacher, gives lots of time to write essays. only 3 or 4 papers per semester. she is smart, easy going and fun! take her for ENC1101 or ENC1102!
Awsome teacher! I loved her! Essays were easy, gave lots of time to write them and review them
She is the most clear and articulate professor I've ever had. She allows 3 absenses without any penalty and has plenty of workshop days to help you on your paper. A little picky when grading papers, just let her help you if you're not a good writer. A little stuck up, I would agree and her beauty is sometimes distracting.I got an A.
She is an amazing teacher she is young and relates to her students She helps you with anything you need and is very polite She is not stuck up although she is pretty She is a little picky when it comes to grading papers but just ask for help Discuss readings from the book in class 3 informal & 3 formal writings Take her! Easy on tardy and absences.
I've taken Dr Klass for two classes, American Lit and Contemporary Lit. I didn't need the second lit class but loved her teaching style so much i took her again. She is extremely helpful and not at all stuck up. She is confident and a brilliant professor and i recommend her to anybody especially those that need help.
Grades Extremely Hard!!!! If its not her style then it seems your writing is wrong!! Took class over and got an A. She judges.
I took her Jewish American literature class at UF, the class and readings were interesting, but it was difficult to speak up in class because she's so freaking hot.
I took professor Klass for Enc1101 she was an awsome professor. Although she does grade pretty hard she is very helpful and does not mind answering any questions you may have. I would definitely recommend her to other students.
i took professor klass for enc1102. she really got you thinking about the readings. the class conversations got really interesting and even after you have left the classroom still has you thinking. she grades fairly and is very helpful in improving your writing. i recommend you take this class for anyone who is willing to use their brains. :o)
overall good class. some of the lessons though got kind of old..doing the same thing every single day. it would have been nice to mix it up a little bit. she is a good teacher and grades tough but for the most part fair.
She's an amazing professor. She does grade hard, but fair. If you need help, she's more than willing to lend a hand. Her in-class discussions make you think in, and out of the classroom. She makes her class interesting, which is a good thing if you're easily distracted. Overall, GREAT professor. I'd recommend to anyone who takes school seriously.
Great Professor. You will learn from her. She does grade hard, but fair. Really nice lady, makes class fun and interesting.
She taught a class that was both challenging and rewarding. We wrote multiple essays, made fair use of out textbooks and greatly encouraged participation. Not bad on the eyes either - but don't let that be a reason to take her. She'll whip you into shape fast. All-in all, a standing example of what and English professor should be.
Amazing professor. Very tough grader, but makes you learn a lot. She opens your mind and makes writing very interesting. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't the class, though.
She has 6 informal writings and 3 formal writing, thats about it. If your aiming to be what i would called an excellent writer i would prefer you take her. one thing i like about her is that she's willing to help you an any area your struggling with, very tough on grading though, her class is mainly debating on what you read so be prepared prior to
Dr. Traci is an absolute godsend to the world of teaching. She challenges you, but doesn't make the class too hard. She's very interested in what she does and wants all of her students to succeed. She's very smart and very funny and kind. Take her if you would like to have a fun class but would also like to challenge yourself just a bit.
I LOVED Dr. Klass! She is one of my favorite English professors I've ever had. She makes you think outside the box and makes the class very interesting. She will help you with anything you need on paper/assignments. Take her- you won't regret it!
Dr. Klass is a very intelligent individual. Very down to earth, youthful and entertaining. Very passionate about teaching and remembering the holocaust. Very easy to receive an A. Always available for help and assistance. She's also extremely cute; which is great if you're a guy and composition bores the hell out of you. Highly recommended!
Great professor! She is very knowledgeable and understanding towards her students. Make sure you write ALL your response papers and meet all the guidelines for your midterm and final! Take her you wont regret it!
My favorite teacher in the entire school made coming to class fun and entertaining every time.
Very hard grader!!!!! Impossible to get an A!!! Class is not boring and she relates to students!
Dr. Klass was a excellent teacher! A lot of the class time was discussion, where you learn a lot even from just listening. She knows what she is talking about and helps you so much with your writing skills. I learned so much, one of my favorite teachers!
Klass is a very hard but good teacher especially if you like a teacher where you have to work and earn your grade not just receive an it. She should teach in a university, not a community college. Klass will help you, all you have to do is set up an appt. I perosnally don't recommend Jewish Lit.
I took this teacher a few times she is amazing and passionate about what she does. She is very open minded and takes the time to listen to other people's perspective. Very helpful teacher and she makes sure to keep the class interesting. She's hot too even though the pregnancy made her a little wobble-y! SORRY! LOVE HER THOUGH!
One of the best professors ever! i think i learned more about writting in the two classes i took with her than in elementary - highschool. shes a very hard grader but it makes you learn and if you ask she will take the time out to sit and show you how to fix what you did wrong. i recommend her to everyone!
Took her Brit Lit class, she is a very good professor. If you do some of the reading and participate a bit in the class, easy A.
Great teacher, must enjoy reading and have time to read.
She talks A LOT!!!!! When leading class discussions, she WILL talk OVER you! Never lets students really get into discussions. A LOT OF READING! Although she is a great teacher. 3 essays, very interesting topics...I WOULD take her, if you want an easy A. Do ALL READINGS/JOURNALS!!! It is a MUST to pass!
Professor Klass is one of the best teachers I have had at PBSC to date. No doubt, she will make you work for your grade!! She does not grade papers easily, but she will help you perfect your skills by the end. Make SURE to come to class prepared to go over the reading and discuss. The students dialog is the majority of the class!
Brilliant and AMAZING
Amazing learning environment. Dr. Klass is so helpful and willing to work with you.
SHE IS PROBABLY THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER. EASY READINGS. JOURNALS ARE PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND SHE LEARNS EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU. HARD GRADER BUT SHE WONT FAIL YOU UNLESS YOU REALLY TRY TO. I RECOMMEND HER AND I WILL BE TAKING HER ON ENC1102.
Wonderful Professor, she is really funny and sweet. I would definitely recommend this class! If you are looking for an easy A, this is not your class. There are difficult readings that are hard to analyze, but she explains everything very well. There are pop quizzes, so make sure you read, and do all of the assignments. She is always there to help!
Dr. Klass is a pleasure to have. She explains concepts clearly and thoroughly. She also provides useful feedback for our discussion posts. Please note that SkillsClass modules are 50% of your grade. IN addition, there are readings to analyze and quizzes for them. Be prepared. RECOMMENDED for both ENC1101 and/or ENC1101L.
Prof Klass is a great teacher. She is super nice and she loves her students. She is always there to help her students but she is a tough grader. overall she is a great teacher and you have to take advantage of the help she gives you before a paper is due. i would deffinatley take her class again
This class was actually my favorite to go to! her lectures are really fun! she gives you 3 excused absences but, after those three you need to keep going. homework is really easy. lectures and homework and class discussions always pertain to the essay! harsh essay grader. but, is understanding! and cant stand plagiarism!
Do not take this professor! Had an A all semester then she fails me on the exam and I get a C overall. Completely blind sighted seeing as how I completed the exam just like I did the rest of the assignments thoughtout the semester (which I received only A's and B's). Point is, a professor that is this random should not be allowed to teach.
Other than the tough grading, which is not a big problem because the professor did help us step by step, she did experience a dramatic loss in during this semester which i think was the reason papers took forever to grade. On the other hand, Professor Klass is so knowledgeable and she truly cares. Class discussions were the best!
Professor Klass is very strict. Took this class online. Failure to login more than 2 times results in failure of the course. She does not grade assignments within a timely fashion although she responds to email quickly. Provides No extra credit. She's a tough grader. HARD to get an A. Gives No extra credit or time extensions. No text required.
Tracy is a wonderful professor. She is very clear and you really have to be consistent to get the grade you deserve. I know writing isn't everyone's forte but you will definitely need everything that she teaches in the future. I recommend going to the tutoring center and DO NOT write your paper last minute. She LOVES reading so she will read yours.
I took Contemp Lit. online, there's quizzes for each story and they're so easy, it's generic knowledge about each respective story. No trick questions. Then there's easy discussions, it can be lengthy at times but if you want a good grade you need to be able to add substance. The only real work are the 3 assignments. I have a high A.
Her class was easy enough, but she was not lenient in the least. She is one of those "my class is the only class" types which I found to be annoying. The discussions were a waste of time (also annoying). She does't accept late work and her due date is at noon which I hated. I spent this semester being annoyed, but if you do the work you'll pass.
Took this course in place of intro to lit. Was not expecting the level of reading that was involved. Thought literature was literature, boy was I wrong. The amount of reading was a bit much for quizzes that were 5 questions. Discussions are a must and in depth responses are necessary.
Very nice teacher, really liked her I took this class online beware that there will be a lot of reading and assignments are due every monday and thursday at noon. No tests just quizzes and discussions. But overall good class.
Dr Klass is an extremely tough grader. My first class in college was taken with her, (English Composition) and I had to legitimately try to get a decent grade in the class. Although it's hard work, it's beneficial because you actually learn how to write proper argumentative papers. Definitely not an easy class, but she's a great professor.
Very very hard teacher. She will grade your work super hard. I am taking her class online. Been in the class for 4 weeks and i have a 36% i have done all the work. My overall GPA is a 3.5 im not one to slack. i'm telling you to runnnnnnn!!!!!! Very rude in comments also. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!
Prof. Klass does not grade in a timely manner. So you won't have any idea if there is anything to improve on until 5 weeks after your assignments are already turned in. By then your grade will drop to a point of an impossible A. DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! Extreme overload on reading, quizzes and discussion every week. Workload of two classes!
Awesome professor! Can't imagine how anyone could say anything bad about her. Down to earth, well scripted, and very intelligent. Will definitely influence you to think critically and be more open minded as a person.
Took the class online. I've taken multiple online literature courses and this, by far, was the most intense with full readings required (full novels, not excerpts) and writing plus quiz assignments due bi-weekly. I work full-time and this was the first literature course that I had to put so much time and effort into.
Wow this class really .. challenged my writing skills, critical thinking, and patience.. Be prepared to Read A lot and participate in class.. Miss klass is a great teacher but a hard grader... Everything you think u know about "writing" leave it at the front door once you enter this class.. Miss klass is very detailed and expects u to be clear
Took this class during Sum but when I began the class it became clear this was a problem teacher. I started out strong but missed a few questions and went directly from a 98 down to 80 meaning I fell an entire letter grade and .5 then I began the next and took some of those quizzes missed a few and went down to 66! If you value your GPA DO NOT TAKE
Deadlines were at noon and left me to miss a few assignments and get a C in the class. Otherwise, good readings and clear and simple assignments.
Took her this summer as an express class and got an A, pretty much just read the stories she assigns and do the work and you'll pass. She gives great feedback and I literally didn't get any grade lower than a 90.
She has her Doctorate in English, and really pushes her students to become amazing writers. Tough grader on your essays, has in class discussions on material read, and gives you a lot of feedback. I was never great at writing essays so I barely made it out with a C; even though I re-wrote my papers 5 times with friends proofreading it.
Good fun teacher. When it comes to the grading she really does not hold back. Failed the course with a 59% for the first class ever failing. Nice teacher terrible grading..
I took her online class and it's pretty repetitive: 1) Read a short story. 2) Take a quiz 3.) Discussion - post 3x 4.) Journal Entry The only thing that bothered me about her class was that she used a vague rubric to grade your work, with no specific comments. I think she just needs to really work on her feedback and make it personal.
Professor Carey, I took her online for lit2090. she was ok, but very hard on grading. No extra credit offered. the quizzes were 5 questions, but the articles were way too long to read for 5 questions only.
Received a 68% on my first discussion because I answered too many of the questions she provided (did not follow exact instructions). Once you figure her out it becomes easy, but she gives way to much homework & is unclear on her grading. The rubric she provides leaves a lot of questions.
I took a class with Dr. Klass a few years ago. She really shaped my college career. She helped me learn how to think critically. Dr. Klass inspired me to earn my BA in English literature. She is tough but you will learn.
This professor was recommended by a friend, plus it fit in with my schedule. She came off as very nice and enthusiastic, but the work was ridiculous. Yet again, the class once a week. The online work was due by 4pm every Friday, which caused me to miss a couple of assignments. I ended up withdrawing because I did not want to risk my GPA!!!
Professor Klass does an amazing job setting up the course on BB. Super organized. Lowest quiz grade is dropped. Be prepared to record yourself three times though. Final major assignment was super easy
Hey Professor K was phenomenal she was patient and always open and to help during her flexible office hours I struggled greatly and it was my second attempt taking the class and I passed with a C+ and I was grateful enough for that
For an online class, the syllabus and the information provided on blackboard was more than enough. The syllabus is key so use it. It is a very self driven class and there is a lot of reading and writing involved but if you plan ahead it is possible to get it all done stress free. She stays in contact and grades are posted as soon asap. She's great
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! I started with a 98% and she is a hard grader, simple little things dropped my grade tremendously. Another problem is you won't know your grade until 5 weeks after,so the mistake you made 9/28 you won't find out till October and you made that mistake for all the the assignment you submit afterwards. TOUGH COURSE!! DON'T RECOMMEND
I took her class online Her rubric is the worst she would give 70 on discussions without explaining what you have to do , a lot of homework , discussions due at 5:00 pm which was hard to complete , her final was to make a video and illustrate five stories within 5 min , which was really hard to accomplish .
Traci Klass is the type of teacher who thinks her class is the only one you have to take. I am truly baffled by her good reviews and I wish more than anything I didnt listen to them. I love literature and have always gotten at least a B, but it seems like she wanted me to fail. She does not care about her students.
Professor Klass gave great feedback on my journal entries and assignments. It became obvious where I went wrong. I finished with a near A and tbh didn't put in as much as I could've. But she's very helpful and lenient if you submit an assignment a few minutes late.
She makes you complete Journals, which are easy, but I missed one quote and she gave me a 0 for the whole thing. I would at least been fine with taking some type of credit but its not fair that by just missing one thing in the rubric I fail the whole assignment I work hard with my writing, while balancing 5 classes and she doesn't appreciate any of it
This class has lots of assignments, due every 2 or 3 days. You have to do the reading to complete any of the assignments, but they are fairly simple if you do the reading. Only negative-2/3 of your writing assignments are responses to other students posting, but if they wait until the day of the assignment being due you will struggle
ok so she teaches 4 woman in history classes and 2 eng lit after 1800s she uses the same material for both classes if I have to do another report about the feminist ideologies of the early 1900 im gonna loose it. im sure the material is great if you care but if you're looking to take a lit after 1800 class from her JUST DONT
Okay, here's the thing. She's a tough grader, strict and super passionate about women's literature. While it's not an easy A, it's one of those classes you learn to appreciate towards the end of semester. Shapes you into a better writer for sure. She assigns discussion posts twice a week + two exams (midterm and final). Read her feedback! It helps
EXTREMELY bad communication.
I'm not finished with the semester yet but I had to come to warn others about Dr. Klass! Do not take her class. I love English but she is the pickiest professor I've ever had. She takes points off for "plot analysis" which to her means anything that happened in the story. How am I supposed to write about literature when I can't talk about it?
This class felt impossible to pass. Dr. Klass is the toughest grader ever. She took points off my video assignment because SHE had technical difficulties on HER computer. Also, Thanksgiving is next week and she has given us 3 reading assignments, 3 quizzes, a discussion post, and 3 journal entries. How are we expected to do all this on a HOLIDAY?
READ HER FEEDBACK & YOU WILL PASS WITH AN A! If you follow the rubrics perfectly, you'll most likely get a 100 percent on all of your discussions, because that's mostly what your grade relies on. There is A LOT to read! Two different authors a week, ranging from 10-30 pages a week. Yet it's not the easiest material to read. Read her syllabus!
Made an account specifically for this professor. Just Ignore "informal writing," because that's not what she's looking for. You will get a 0 on the journal unless you meet ALL criteria in the rubric.... And don't expect helpful feedback. Never had a professor be so strict w such unhelpful critique.
This professor was the worst I've ever had. She will straight up give you a zero for a simple mistake instead of taking some of the grade off, 0% understanding and her "feedback" is simply telling you how the assignment wasn't good enough. STAY CLEAR of this professor as it's not worth the headache
Well this was the most difficult class I have ever taken. The amount of reading required was well beyond what I could have expected. However, I learned so much about women's literature and grew in my capacity to write and follow deadlines. Dr. Klass isn't a harsh grader per se yet the sheer amount of work required would make anyone uneasy.
Professor Klass has a strenuous schedule to follow but if you are really interested in learning literature, she's the one to take. I've read many negative things about her course but I'm very glad that I took it and that she was the professor. You can work ahead to a degree, and she grades and answers emails quickly. My writing has improved also.
Professor Klass is very nice and so passionate about the subjects she teaches. I just think the discussions are a little annoying to complete, but they aren't too difficult. There is a lot of reading though.
Don't take her.
Do not take this teacher unless you want to fail. She is a very tough grader and does not offer any way to bring your grade up. If you can, take anybody else!!
I took this class as a hybrid in the accelerated semester and I am personally not good at doing homework assignments online so it was a bit more difficult for myself. But if you are good at doing homework assignments and reading a good amount you will enjoy this class as it is not super difficult if you do all the homework and pay attention.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER. She takes a lot of time grading the assignments; you are in the dark until it is too late to do something about it. It is obvious that this professor is teaching because she could not find anything else. She does not care about the students.
Traci Klass does nothing but talk. I know that prof. are going to talk, but she goes on about nonsense, to the point I really don't even understand what she talks about for half of the time. The days and times she has stuff due makes no sense. The work load has me on brinks of tears. The reading is as repetitive as her.
Another thing about Ms. Traci Klass is that she claims to have 100% passing rate and with all do respect, the work load is giving maybe a 60%-70% chance of passing. Just as I was trying to be more positive and try not to give up this semester, but this class make me want to either give up or walk out of class when im in person.
She has to be on one, hey she might be on four. Overall rating of her class so far, just zon't zo it. Then after class, she proceeded to keep me and my friend after class to try and say that this isn't our first time being late. lie. We told her we were late because I overslept, but she could care less. not sure why she was so concerned that day.
If something isn't matching to her rubric or you left some questions for whatever reason, she's giving you a zero and having you re do it for the credit. Keep in mind that nobody has time to redo an assignment that took 2+ hrs to do. That's another thing, be prepared to spend 2+ hrs on each of her assignments, because of the amount she asks for.
Once again, zont zo it. I wish you could see how quick my homegirl and I are balding from this class. She does too much and asks for too much. ANDDDD to think this is a FRESHMAN class has me sick. She really would've been the reason I just stop showing up to class. She dead gives you 25hrs to complete 4 assignments by 9pm the next day. JUST TRASH
This class is brutal. I get it, it's English, but no. This is so much work!! If you don't add one quote and/or cite it properly, you get a 0! That's right, you can write 3 pages of work, and if you don't add or cite at least one thing, you get a 0. She is hard to get ahold of. She doesn't help you.100% DO NOT recommend unless you're ready to die :/
Loads of unnecessary homework, expected to read on average about 40 pages a night and overall an incredible workload for just a single elective class.
Just picture reading 50 pages, writing a discussion & answering two classmates (they always wait till the last minute to post), and writing a journal in a matter of three days. Sometimes there are more than two authors you have to write about, so there are more topics/work to do. This is every 3 days as well. Shes hard to contact and does not help.
If you decide to take her (I hope not) during fall, dont expect a spring break. Still requires a lot of work, you also come back to the midterm. No chance to study or have time off from this horrid class.
Just no. If you want to take one class for an entire semester, go right ahead. But no. If I had to give one word for her and this class, no. Shes horrible.
How are you going to tell me that I can PICK my OWN topic for the journal and give me a 0 because it did not follow the topics given??????????????????
I took her online was by far the worst class I've taken if you don't do the assignment exactly her way you will get a bad grade. she expects you to read way too much got a discussion and answer 2 classmates. all the bad reviews are true do not take this professor
Online - Worst class I have ever taken. The rubric is so unorthodox you'd think it's a joke. This is supposed to be fun! Learning about women stories through history is supposed to make you feel alive in a way but holy cow, she ruined the one subject I adored. All reviews: True. DONT TAKE!
BE PREPARED TO READ A LOT. The professor takes a while to grade assignments and is a tough grader, so be cautious of your schedule. I was able to pass the course but if you are taking this course online just understand there are discussions due twice weekly, same with journals, and a quiz every other reading. Heavy course work. Again, BE PREPARED.
Your mental state at stake. Passed assignments with a 85+ yet bc I missed the midterm (didn't know was to be worked on during spring break)dropped from an 85 to a 45. (Midterm is 25% of total grade and so is final) I passed my final with a 100 and still failed. Grade should've went back up. Worst professor, she needs to be removed immediately
I have never in my life failed a lit/eng class yet I ended with an F in this one... If you miss one deadline all you can hope for is a C if you have 100's on everything. There is no late credit. Her video intro was so hostile I already knew I'd chosen the wrong teacher. Will be retaking with someone else.
Professor Klass is passionate about teaching and supportive of her students. The challenge for me was her assignment deadlines. Instead of the usual midnight cutoff, she required submissions by 5 p.m., which is tough when working a 9–5. Even if the due date was Monday, turning it in after Sunday at 5 p.m. meant losing ten points.
Professor Klass is a bad professor, she doesn't care about her students. She literally failed me. I didn't turn in ONE assignment and I failed the entire course and now i need to retake LIT. I emailed her multiple times about extra credit and she never emailed me back. She needs to be fired
