Very informative professor. Teaches from one of the more objective points-of-view. Some online material. Easy to talk to out of lecture. A lot of material in Hawaiian (obviously), must be somewhat comfortable with it to earn a good grade.

I love the subject but didn't love the class. A textbook would be nice. We memorized useless stuff and left out valuable information. I don't know who decides the curriculum but it was so one sided. White Christians were made to feel the over-throw of the HI Kingdom was thier fault. This class had a political agenda. It wasn't objective.

Friendly instructor who is well organized and keeps lectures flowing smoothly. She's fair and fast at grading. The workload is reasonable with a few short essays and regular readings with worksheets. Study guides are provided for tests, which are mostly based on lecture material. She gives some extra credit that involves visiting a cultural place.

When I took her class (107) I was just getting started as an early admit. But I'm glad chose her class because she was very helpful and she was always willing to help with all the reading, tests, and especially the assignments. had a great first semester at LCC compared to other semesters I had here.

Lots of reading, homework, and unit tests but you learn a lot about Hawaiian studies. The content immerses you in the culture, history, and significant people of Hawaii. As long as you read the assigned chapters and review the content in the modules, you will do fine on the homework and the unit tests are based directly on these.

Class was fairly easy, just read the portion that is instruction (it's not much at all) and you will be good. It's mostly writing answers or discussions about what your reading. Would recommend!

This class was very easy to take, just follow the given directions. Grades are based off reading assignments, forum posts, and unit quizzes which are easy to do. 2 assignments every week, and a forum and unit exam the week after completing the unit.

You have to work though some learning materials, like a chapter or two from the textbook and read some documents, watch videos, etc. Then, you use that information to answer a few questions for the assignment. Everything is unlocked from start, so work ahead. Stuff is graded quickly and the assignments are easy, very well organized and easy course.

Kumu Losch's lectures are simple and provide all the information needed for assignments. Lots of extra credit opportunities and you can complete the assignments as early as you'd like. Super low enrollment, so attendance didn't affect our grades.

I took the 5-week accelerated course, and the workload was manageable. Lots of readings to get through at times. Dedicate time to short-answer assignments throughout each unit; they'll help you on the ~7 unit tests (no final). Contribute meaningful posts/replies to the weekly forums. Prof. Losch is kind and very passionate about Hawaiian studies!

Her class work is comprised of 2 assignments for 2 out of the 4 things in the unit each week, 1 quiz after the unit is over where you have to write more than a sentence, and a discussion post, but the course material you use is from the unit itself or the book you buy via Leeward bookstore. However, she provides a course schedule which was handy

Great professor. Assignments are very manageable with a lot of time given to complete. I enjoyed reading the textbooks and felt that I have learned a lot from this class. I wasn't looking forward to taking this class because I just needed the credit, but I'm really glad I took it, it was easy and very informative. Exams aren't that hard either.
