Picky, picky, picky!
Expects what she does not tell the class she expects. Not an effective teacher.
Willing to help anytime, always has a good syllabus, picky
She's a little miss know-it-all. Easy to get extensions on your assignments, just come up with a half assed story. I got a B because I didn't edit things well enough. If you brown-nose you can probably get an A.
Tracy is very helpful if you just ask her. She is picky as others have said but she teaches Tech writing, she has to be...duh. It is not easy but she will help you through it. She comes off as a real pain, but after day 1 is cool.
Her grading style discouraged me instead of encouraged me. The way she came up with certain grades were unclear and her grading is harsh and not helpful.
Tracy is very personable if you actually put effort in her class. I did a portfolio and I didn't do it right but after discussing it with her she let me redo it and she realized her directions needed to be fixed. She knows her stuff and will tell you if you don't know yours. She's a cool person.
she is picky, but helpful, follow the steps to the research project and it is easy to write, grammar quizzes are tough, i would recommend her for this class
Tracy is a wonderful teacher. She breaks the research paper up into mini assignments, so when you write the paper it is easy. There are grammer quizzes but they are only worth 5 pts each. I would recommend taking her.
I had her for IDS. She is very nice and understanding. I had a very high A in her class. I had a 195 out of 200. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Excellent teacher that wants to help you throughout your college experience even if you don't have her as a teacher. Very good!
I enjoyed this class mostly. She can be unclear about information or give wrong information and change it later. She is however, fairly lenient on deadlines, as long as you talk with her. I only got a B on my portfolio, but I didn't put too much work into it. The tests are fairly easy, and I was able to pull off an A in the class, though.
Tracy is BY FAR my favorite teacher so far at MSU. She is the most understanding professor there is. She is always willing to help in any way she can and truly cares about her students. if you can take her, TAKE HER! you won't regret it
Mrs. Dalton is a really great person but she really gets side-tracked during class. I did not find class time helpful because she was so disorganized but the class is easy.
Major Project sucks...so time consuming you don't have time for any other homework, but she continues to add more papers. Mrs. Dalton goes totally againts eveything learned in Bussiness Communications...It's her way or no way.
This class is a lot of work, but Tracy is the perfect teacher to venture down this road. She is dedicated, and sometimes a little too busy. She does give you as much time as she possibly can to help you get through the major project. In the end, you have real world experience in her class, and more tech writing classes need this.
i liked her class; just go to class and dont joke off
Tracy is an excellent teacher. She does tend to get off track occasionally, but she's helpful and friendly and very, very excited about the subject. The editing portfolio sounds really scary, but it's not that bad as long as you keep on top of the deadlines. She doesn't take attendance, but there are a lot of in-class worksheets, so go to class.
She is nice and helpful professor. There is one big project which is time consuming, but you will doing fine if you follow her steps. She accepts late works, but you have to tell her early!
Used Markel's Technical Communication book. She was a great professor! I thought the class was really beneficial!
Tracy is an AWESOME instructor! She will do everything possible to help you succeed. Very approachable. You come away from this class with skills that will help you regardless of what field you go into! I highly recommend this class and Tracy as an instructor!
I took Tracy for an intro class and she is an amazing person! So much fun, so understanding, and will do almost ANYTHING to see that you succeed! You can approach her with any of your problems and she will go out of her way to find an answer for you if she doesnt already know it. Highly recommend that you take her!
She gives a lot of homework and reading, but if you try, you will come out with an A. You have a major project, but it's broken down into workable sections throughout the semester. Be prepared to work a lot. This is NOT a take notes and then finished for the day class. But Mrs. Dalton will help you even if she has to go out of her way to do it.
Very bright and cheerful, and she will go out of her way to help you. The project is time consuming, but not difficult. She's very picky with grading; make sure you are careful about proofreading your assignments for little mistakes- she WILL count off. I learned some valuable info from this class.
Tracy is more than willing to help any student who asks for it. She is a very fair, but strict, grader. She teaches in a way that can work for any kind of student. I highly recommend taking any of her classes.
Very good teacher. Explains things well. During class gives busy work(peer sheets) but other than that I would recommend everyone to take this teacher.
She's great! Very helpful! Wants to be here and wants to help! Awesome professor!
This class comprised of entirely too much composition for a 3 credit hour course.
I also had Ms. Dalton for ENG 377. She is very demanding, but she is also more than willing to help students. Her assignment, handouts and lectures are very clear. She can be quite funny and nice. But, like all professional writers, she is a stickler for detail. I'd recommend her to anyone. I wish I could take one of her classes again!
Tracy is my favorite instructor. I've had her 321 and 377 classes, and my writing concepts have drastically changed because of her. I highly suggest that anyone who is interested in improving your writing take her. You will have to work very hard, but Tracy will make you want to work because it's meaningful work. And she's easy to talk to too. :-)
Very time consuming class. You have a huge 12-18 page paper due at the end of the year. She is very picky about grammer. At the end you feel very acomplished but you deffinetly need to work on the portfolio through out the semester!! Go to class you get participation points.
I loved this class! Yes, it's a lot of work, but it's the same work you will be doing if you take any other teacher for this class. She thoroughly explains everything, gives reminders on due dates, and is MORE than willing to help. Easy in-class participation points, so go to class! I learned a lot from Tracy.
Too much work for a GEP class.
Super nice person! But, gives out A TON of pointless busywork. No Tests or quizzes! Easier than most GEP classes... Take her!!!
Very nice, but gets way over excited about everything. GEP is easy with her, but you get a ton of busy work and go on a lot of pointless field trips. She is a very easy grader and she is very understanding. Easy A.
She is a fantastic teacher. There is quite a bit of work, but nothing is hard. She helps you out every step of the way and is very understanding. If you can take ENG 321 with her, do it. It was one of my favorite classes.
I'm a senior and Tracy Dalton ranks as one of my favorite teachers of all time, and English isn't even my major. Fun, smart, kind, loves her students and subject matter, has real world experience, and is always willing to work with students. A FANTASTIC teacher.
Tracy is one of those teachers who really cares about their students. She will do anything she can to help her students. She is also my advisor, which is great. I look forward to having her in the future!
Tracy is very enthusiastic about teaching and helping her students. She assigns a lot of homework that seems fairly "pointless", but she takes a lot of time to thoroughly go through each assignment and give a lot of feedback. Overall, great teach her. Definitely take her class!
I took it Honors. Tracy's been one of my favorite professor here. She's funny, bright, helpful, and enthusiastic. She's also very clear and organized. Assignments are great, in that they are so relevant. I.e. we made a resume, personal statement, brochure, etc. I've used almost every assignment and will in the future. No busy work! She's amazing!
Great professor. Pushes you to improve throughout the semester. Very willing to help and work with students. I would recommend her. The class is a lot of work, but you learn a ton with her.
Tracy is amazing and wants to see all of her students succeed. Make sure you listen in her class or you will miss something. She loves her students and although attendance is not mandatory I would not recommend missing class. You can get behind easily. Just do things when you are supposed to and you will bee successful in her courses.
Tracy is honestly great! She was also my SOAR adviser during the summer before I took GEP and she was so helpful with picking classes, and you can go to her about anything and she will have an answer for you. Though she requires a lot of busy work, she makes GEP as interesting as possible and it's worth having her!
I would recommend you DO NOT take this class online. There is too much busy work that does not pertain to editing. If you do take this online, make sure you read her lessons thoroughly. They are boring reads, but you will miss assignments if you skip over them. Tracy is a good teacher to have in person, but online is a different story.
I've had Tracy for GEP and Tech Writing. She seems to genuinely care and is extremely kind and helpful until she discovers something about you that she doesn't like. No discrimination policy or not, do NOT let her find out you are LGBTQA* if you are. She will turn sour very quickly and makes you feel extremely small. And your grade will suffer.
Tracy is very supportive of her students, but she gets ticked off if you're late or miss class. There are so many assignments, if you don't go to class, you won't have a clue what's going on. She's a TOUGH grader, but is happy to help you with anything if you're working hard.
Doesn't actually understand what business documents are supposed to look like. I turned in a resume that has had wonderful reviews from other professors and she gave me a D on it. Claims you need clipart inserted in your resume and will take off if you don't put it in. Tons of projects and takes forever to actually return stuff. DO NOT TAKE!
Really really enjoyed her class. She's pretty funny.
Mrs. Dalton pushes you to do more than you expect from yourself. One of the best teachers at MSU.
She assigns a TON OF INSIGNIFICANT BUSY WORK. She doesn't grade things in a timely manner. She loads you down with work at the end of the year. I stayed up until 6am doing her work and I don't procrastinate. She thinks this is your only class that you have to worry about. I have no idea how she made editing into such a complicated process.
Tracy thinks that this class is the ONLY class that you have to take. Expect a bunch of busy work, a semester long project that is made to be harder than it really is, and a final that's absolutely ridiculous. Way too time consuming!!
Tracy is a really nice lady, and she is always willing to go above and beyond to help her students. This class, however, was honestly too much work. I often felt like I had to neglect my other classes to work on her assignments. Future ENG 377 students will be happy to know that she plans on revising the class so it is less busy.
This class was one of the most difficult classes I have taken, but without a doubt among my favorites. Tracy is so helpful and willing to take time outside of class to make sure you're on track with your assignments. Don't be afraid to ask questions in her class! She genuinely wants to see her students succeed and that is so refreshing to me.
Tracy Dalton shows that you don't have to have a doctorate to be an exceptional instructor. She is very organized - she goes the extra mile to provide the resources that you will need. She has a thorough knowledge of what she teaches, puts a lot of work into her classes and students, and is also very charismatic.
Tracy Dalton expects thorough work and is willing to help you if you go to her office hours. I learned a lot of from this class and I would take another course with her; however, she is somewhat disorganized (the schedule changed every week).
Mrs. Dalton is one of the best instructors I have had at MSU thus far! She really takes the time to make sure you understand what you need to do. She expects a lot from her students, so don't think this class is an easy A. She is quirky and takes what you she teaches you and applies it to real life and skills you will need.
Mrs. Dalton is a very effective professor. She is always prepared for class. She doesn't overwhelm students with giant lectures, but class attendance is crucial. All assignments are clearly defined far ahead of time, so students can plan ahead. She has plenty of office hours, and her feedback is extremely helpful. Take the honors section!
Tracy is one of the best professors I have had. This class had very little busy work, and all of the grading was project-based. There was a decent amount of work to do outside of class, but if you don't procrastinate it's not that bad. There's a lot of flexibility with the topics you write about, so pick things relevant and interesting to you.
Tracy is an awesome teacher and she really wants to engage with her students. Although a bit disorganized at times, she keeps her students in the loop and is very good at getting back to emails. She is great at giving the class the steps they need to succeed and breaks down large assignments. 10/10 recommend taking any class with her.
Tracy is great as a person. As a teacher, she isn't the worst. She's very caring and she does give fairly specific requirements for you to meet for each assignment. However, she's pretty confusing and unclear sometimes, and if you aren't willing to put in effort and communicate with her about assignments, things won't go well for you.
Mrs. Dalton helped with every question I had, and she even took the time to help me with other classes. She was hands down one of the best professors I've had at Missouri State, and she was really understanding with any circumstance. I only took this class for a Gen ed, but it ended up being one of the best classes I had ever taken.
Tracy gives a ton of really great feedback. All her courses (seated and online) are well-organized. She cares about students and tries to slow things down to a good pace for everyone. She knows her stuff and teaches it effectively. She is a great teacher.
Mrs. Dalton is honestly the best teacher at MSU that I have encountered in my time here. She is truly amazing and caring, and really cares about your success not only in her class, but out of class as well. It is an english class, and there is a lot of work. However, she is happy to help, offers wonderful feedback, and is honestly such a gem.
Lots of work outside of class, all easy to complete. Lots of large papers, she goes slowly to give you time to work on them in class and outside of class. Always has feedback to help you. Put in the work and you'll get a good grade.
One of the most enjoyable English classes I have ever taken. If you follow her directions and show up to class everyday you will get a good grade. She gives awesome feedback and has very clear expectations. Always has office hours and is very easy to reach outside of class for help. If you follow the syllabus this class is easy to keep up with
Tracy assigns a ton of busy work and spends more time talking bad about other students than she does lecturing. I obtained absolutely nothing from the actual lectures, which made completely assignments challenging. She expects you to know tech writing rules without even introducing them. She is not approachable because her way is the only right way
Tracy is one of the sweetest, most caring professors at Missouri State. She genuinely cares about her students and will do whatever she can to help you succeed. Attendance is required, but she makes class enjoyable.
Tracy is by far the best technical writing professor I've had at MSU. She's kind and caring, and she gives the best feedback in order for you to better your work. She's understanding, treats her students as though they're adults, and prepares you for the future. She's easy to get in contact with, and always explains things thoroughly.
Dalton is flexible, humorous, and very helpful. This class is very practical and helpful; The job application project helped me secure a lot of internship positions. I will say that some of the assignments outside of the big projects felt superfluous. Good effort in this class is rewarded. I feel like a much better writer.
Mrs. Dalton is one the best instructors in MSU's English Department. She always goes above and beyond to help students and genuinely cares about their success inside and outside of class. This is honestly the most valuable general education course I've ever taken and would 100% recommend her for ENG 321. Take her!
I don't believe I've ever disliked an English course this much. The course should be amazing - we have a really great topic. But her policies are unusual, and very strictly enforced. She once stated that, "Due dates are more like loose guidelines," and then proceeded to deduct points harshly on late work. Inconsistent, and no compassion at all.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about Professor Dalton. She is the most organized and helpful professor I have had at MSU. I have learned so much from her lectures and feedback. She always makes her expectations clear and grades accordingly. You have to work for it, but trust me, it's worth it! Take her class; you won't regret it!
Professor Dalton is great! She really cares a lot and wants you to succeed. She is hyper-organized and the class is pretty well laid out and is reasonable. Would recommend!
I LOVE TRACY! This class is amazing, easy, and has such a great layout. She is easy to reach outside of class, and understanding about extensions. You get plenty of time for assignments and the grading criteria are clear. I'm a STEM major and still loved every second of this ENG class. You don't write essays, you just have a couple of big projects
Tracy is awesome, she tries really hard to accommodate for everyone. If you need an extension on an assignment, she is very understanding. She doesn't really lecture but allows a lot of time in class to complete assignments. I RARELY did work outside of class.
I loved Tracy! She's very kind & understanding. Several papers but she gives great feedback & there's always time to work on assignments in class. I didn't have much homework. Take ENG221 with her!
Professor Dalton is one of my favorite professors at MSU! I met her in the Summer at the orientation for incoming students and she was very welcoming, which helped me decide to take her class. There are quite a few projects in this course along with regular homework and quizzes, but they are pretty straightforward. She also provides many examples.
Soooo prof. Dalton is very kind, and she is genuinely a kind person. However, I do feel like she makes you do a lot of busy work. I had the most homework from her class the semester I took it. She also is a tough grader. She is very specific for what she wants but if you can do what she wants, she'll give you a good grade.
LOVED prof Dalton. She was so sweet and had the most organized online class that I've taken at MSU. She also still managed to connect with the students even through an online format. She grades fairly but always gives you feedback on rough drafts so that your final papers get as many points as possible. She's also a fascinating person!
She is the most obnoxious and rambling person I have ever met switched my minor from english to chemistry just so i wouldnt have to see her anymore. i was going to take professional editing next semester but i'd rather get cancer after this class. also she creams herself over fonts and it makes me want to bang my head against a brick. weird
She cares about how you do on your assignments and wants you to have something useful when you leave the class. The things you write could help you in your career in the future. There is a lot of work at the beginning of the semester but it lightens towards the end. She talks the entire class period so don't ever expect to get out early.
I took these classes only due to the Gen-ed requirement in Fall 2023. All she cares about is attendance and stupid in-class group activities. It doesn't matter if you do your best or not, she will put a lower grade and try to fail you. Attendance is extremely important for her, I wouldn't recommend taking her class!
If you need to take an English class take it with Mrs. Dalton. She is fun and super sweet and cares about her students. There are multiple projects but if you have an hour to spare here and there then you will never have to sweat. All in all this class is easy and gives you good knowledge that you can use for the rest of your life. 10/10
I took this course online and it was honestly really easy as long as I stayed caught up. Tracy did an excellent job communicating due dates, office hours, and just being someone to reach out to if I was confused or struggling. She offers extra credit and is lenient on certain assignments if turned in late. I would definitely recommend taking her!
Tracy wants you to do well in her class and cares more then any teacher ive ever had. Go to her office hours and have her look over any assignment/project that is for a lot of points and she will go over everything with you and she loves talking to you. Its hard to get an A on a paper if you dont get her opinion bc shes a though grader.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Tracy. If you have the opportunity to take her class I highly recommend it. You'll learn so much about writing that will be so beneficial further down your career. She wants you to succeed in this class and has tons of office hours, and she gives you class time to work on the papers.
Mrs. Dalton was so incredibly kind. She is a tough grader if you aren't the best with grammar, but I still did very well in her class. Attendance is mandatory, and she will give assignments out during class that need to be done in class, so show up!
She does ramble a lot and can spend most of the class talking about other things but is so sweet and wants you to get to know you and to succeed in class. There are 7 projects (some multiple parts) ALL SHORT (max 2 pages). Strict attendance policy, can only miss 4 classes then 10% of grade deducted for every additional miss.
