This class is an Easy A. Prof is so nice and friendly. You don't even need to get the textbook because she provides the lecture powerpoints and that basically has everything you will need to know for the midterm and final. Had to participate in 3 online discussion boards and one group presentation. Easy grader.
I wouldn't recommend. She doesn't really answer to your questions, especially, you will never get help through email from her (she says she will help though-i dont know if its just me). Most of the times, you just have to find a way to get the answer she gives you. The actual exams are much harder than the sample exams that she gives you.
Not a horrible teacher, however lectures aren't the best. Expects students to know most material. Test's are graded heavily. LOTS of homework. Two online quizzes a week with homework packet every other week. Be prepared to learn on your own.
worst ive ever had. I have never struggled in a class as much in my entire life. There are 70+ kids in the class yet most of material done on whiteboard. No powerpoints. Buy the textbook itll be your only chance at passing. She rambles and at the end catches herself not being able to answer students questions & itll all be wrong:/
Really does a poor job of explaining the material. The department midterms were on material she never taught us. I had a 3.96 GPA before this semester, I study hard, it didn't matter for this class. She is really just unfit as a teacher.
This class was interesting. It started off very hard however, she is a very nice and funny teacher. If you want to learn, I suggest you go to the front of the class and pay attention. Only 4 homework assignments for the whole semester. She uses the whiteboard for all her lectures so no powerpoints. Honestly this class can be either easy or hard.
This class is A LOT of work, especially for the 1.5 credits that it is. There was a homework due every other week, two exams and a final, a big group project broken down into a group proposal, presentation and business plan (huge). The exams were unreasonably long for a class period (many questions, very involved). The hardest class I ever took.
It felt like I was taking an undergrad class. She explains very thoroughly and doesn't try to overwhelm you. If you do the hw and use it to study for your tests, you should be fine. Her time management isn't the best though. Other than that, she's pretty easy and a sweetheart and wants everyone to do well.
Oh boy I was hopeless in that class. Not only does she not teach very much, she basically just goes over the material your suppose to know the night before. Tests were hard and she doesn't prepare you for it much. The review sheet she gave us HAD NOTHING and I mean nothing on the real test. Yikes. No Extra credit and lots of homework. Shes nice tho
I was in one of her hybrid classes. She is a nice and humorous professor, BUT I wouldn't recommend taking her if you aren't confident in this subject. She spends most of class time going over the really simple topics. I had to rely heavily on Mindtap texts and problems. Her midterms are hard and her review sheets aren't very helpful.
Does not teach how to solve the problems, picks horrible textbook (theory heavy with no practical practice problems in the chapters), group project is more of a marketing project than an economic project. Classes are filled with her entertaining students' random questions so she can't even get through her own slides (which are not helpful anyway).
Professor is very pleasant, funny, and down to earth. Genuinely wants you to do well. This is not an easy subject but she'll spend as much time as your need to help you get it. I recommend this professor
Excellent professor. Show up to class, do your homework, review the slides and practice questions again before the midterm/final. Ask questions and have fun. She's incredibly pleasant and will help you. She knows the material and her slides are concise. Her exams were her assigned questions for homework/class but just slightly more difficult.
This class is not an easy A, but the professor gives helpful worksheets in each class, and she goes over them. Her lectures, powerpoint slides, homework and quizzes will be very helpful in doing well in this class. But don't expect to do well w/out putting effort. Would take her again.
Professor Henry is probably one of the best professors in the school. She genuinely tries to help you- through emails and work hours. Students who complain want everything to be spoon fed. You're an adult you gotta work for it. Her class is straightforward there aren't any surprises in the exams. Study for it-- read the textbook, hws and worksheet.
One of the better Micro teachers when comparing to other horror stories I've heard. She is very sweet and cares that her students knowledge on the subject. One suggestion I'd make would be to have slightly less tangents just because my specific class was hybrid and we took a departmental final. However she was great, and the final is heavily curved
Professor Henry is kind, takes time to meet with you outside of class, and gives out worksheets that will help you on exams. I took both micro & macro in one semester, and had to put in a TON of work for each one, but was able to get A's. Honestly, I think economics itself is pretty boring, but Professor Henry does her best to help you learn it.
Avoid this professor!!!!! Doesn't teach, doesn't explain the concept. Her classes confused me more than helped. She tries to seem nice but never does anything that would actually help.
She's great, but this is college don't be expected to be spoon fed. Study the textbook, focus on her lectures and activities and you will do good. You will need to work hard for your grade here. She does lecture activities which help in preparation for her exams. Focus on the homework's and online practice really helpful. Shes always there to help.
She's a very nice lady, but her way of teaching isn't always understandable. She likes to skip over 2-3 steps when writing solutions. Lot's of times students were left confused by how she got her answer. That being said, she does try to answer all questions, and is approachable. Avoid her if you can't learn material on your own.
Tracy is an excellent teacher! She explains the concepts well in class and is super accessible outside of class. Econ is hard and her exams are a bit tricky, but she takes the class's performance into account and curves. She is very funny and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Does a great job of keeping the info introductory level.
Prof. Tracy really cares about her students and hopes everyone do well in her class. Very accessible outside class and very patient to all questions. Make sure you do the homework incl. problem sets & activities and her exam is very similar to those. GREAT PROFESSOR!
Professor Henry is extremely nice, however, her ways of teaching are not the best. I struggled to grasp simple concepts b/c she made it extremely difficult to understand. The class is Mind tap heavy and I had no clue what she was talking about during class. I had to drop before the midterm, but if you are someone that can self teach, take her.
The workload is way more than 1.5 cr worth! 4 PS (15%), 2 BB discussions (10%), midterm (35%), and final (40%). The tests are long(!), but the math is not difficult, and her slides are manageable. Since the tests make up most of your grade, it's mostly time management b/c you only have 90 mins. Very knowledgeable, but she's the only prof offered.
She is a great teacher but lots of work for a 1.5 credit. 4 HW, 2 discussions, 1 midterm and a final. Tests are long and not easy. She asks trick questions to see if you understood. Definitively need to study, put time and effort. Great class though, she is funny, answers all questions and tries to explain till the class gets it.
Difficult course overall but I wish she could better explain the material. The tests short answer account for a large portion of your grade but she doesn't explain the workflow well. Class was split half really understood the material the other half didn't so a curve was not given. Apart from MyEconLab I wish we were better prepared for the tests.
DO not take!
She makes it easy to understand the material, repeats herself if you didn't understand. Due to transitioning to fully online the material wasn't as thoroughly reviewed because everyone had 100 Qs every meeting. She uses MindTap for course work, which I was not a fan of because the slides were not very informative- quizzes are based on these slides.
ECO1001 at Baruch is TOUGH. It's usually a hybrid class which means you will mostly be learning on your own so be prepared. GET THE TEXTBOOK & READ IT. I cant say this enough, especially for this class. Prof. Henry is AMAZING, a true gem, caring, intelligent, and knows her Econ, but its a very very hard course, so you need to READ. Loved her 100%
I took her for a 1.5 credit course that is required for my MBA. She was a decent professor and was able to explain things well. She does get carried away when students ask about interesting topics so can connect current events too. Beware of students grading her negatively as I have seen students not study and blame her teaching.
Supposed to be easy for 1.5cr, but somehow she made it complicated. She tries to engage, but it's hard to follow her explanations, so I had to watch youtube often. Basic arithmetic, but not enough practice, so she curves a bit when people do poorly on exams. Some ppl like her because she's nice, but overall it was a disappointing experience for me.
Professor Henry provides a lot of material for learning and this was an asynchronous course. The feedback provided was useful but she does give a lot of assignments from week to week. You can expect to have 1-2 chapters to read along with a quiz, problem set, or discussion forum. Overall she is very accessible and willing to take time to explain.
She never responded to emails, went over time every week, and despite that I felt she didn't really teach what was on the hw assignments and exams. She also took forever to grade (we got back our midterm grades two days before the final exam). She did curve though and gave many practice problems, but it felt like a self-taught class.
yes, this professor is very nice. What I don't appreciate are professors that jam in a whole semester's worth of work in a 1/2 semester class. HW is quite difficult and very confusing. Yes, confusing is the right word. There are tons of powerpoints, readings.. lots of work. Be prepared to be confused with blackboard and her "organization" style.
Awful professor, gives so much work and takes forever to grade. Took her a month to give back the midterm while the exams were distributed on blackboard. Truly disappointed, wish I could get a refund for this class.
This class was tough despite being only 1.5 credits. It's a lot of material crammed into a half semester, but I don't think the course design is Prof Henry's fault. Her lectures and notes are great and she answers student questions well, but her hw and tests are challenging as she tends to include curveball questions. Study hard and you'll do fine.
Intro econ stuffed into 5 weeks + a bad lecturer + intensely unfair, messy exams awful learning experience. She scheduled a midterm on Father's Day that many students bombed and then refused to tell us the average score when we asked. I would say stay far away from this professor but she's the only person who teaches this course.
By far the biggest waste of money. It wasnt the material, it was the Prof Henry was so unorganized. Class runs over every time. She scheduled the midterm on Sunday/Fathers day, which started late. The material is not that difficult but the tests are nothing like class, nothing is grammatically correct and it gives you a stroke reading it.
Does not get homework or exam grades back with enough time and makes both midterm and final unnecessarily difficult.
This should not be a 5 week course. She means well but makes the content unnecessarily more difficult than it has to be. The tests are not worded the same way you learn the content (she convolutes the material to make it even harder or to trick you). I'd say avoid but she's the only prof that teaches this course. Too much work for half credit.
The lecture is easy to understand. But exams are difficult!!!! Don't have enough time to complete the exams. You have to read the problems carefully or you must make mistakes on them.
Avoid this class - and that is coming from someone who is doing "well" compared to others (not saying much). This teacher will give you less than 48hrs to do a dumb amount of work. Her grading is a disaster/makes no sense + her exams are way too hard in comparison to the homework. She also assigns quizzes before covering the related content. AVOID!
TOO MUCH WORK for a 1.5 credit, 7 week class. Cannot hear her very well in the videos she records even with volume all the way up. She speaks very softly. Mistakes in lecture slides. Classes run over time. She spreads herself too thin - not available for help. I had to mostly teach myself this class through Khan Academy. Waste of money.
Best of luck. One of the worst classes I've ever taken.
Doesn't provide resources specified in modules, return grades or exams, or open up the roster so you can communicate with other classmates. Delayed exams. Feels like wasted tuition (same MO for ECO 9730) where you are studying on your own and googling half the material yourself. Watch your math. You get one wrong, all your subsequent calcs are off.
ECO 1001 at Baruch is departmental so it's made unfeasibly tough. The professor teaches to a point where you can get a hang of the problems but the class always went overtime and the midterms and final was just something else. she never gave decent amount of curve and used the median to curve. She never respond to emails maybe once's in a Fullmoon
Did not give midterm grades until the day before the final. Extremely delayed with gradings. Insane amount of work for 1.5 credit course. Very dry recorded lectures with the volume super low. Everything feels rushed for a 6 week course. Exams nearly impossible if you are not familiar with the subject. By far the worst class I taken at Baruch.
2 Essays/3 Exams/Presentation - 20%/72%/8% Exam questions come straight from the online HW and the lecture activities. It is a moderately challenging course, but professor Henry does a great job of explaining things in class and makes lecture enjoyable. She's one of those rare Baruch professors that actually teaches instead of reading off slides.
Professor is very unorganized and the class is self taught. I've taken 2 classes with her and she was equally as bad for both, unfortunately she is the only professor that teaches 9730 & 9740
Good lectures, but the material provided to study at home does not match the questions that you get in the exams. Questions at the exams may miss an expected variable which you have to figure out, but you don't. Grades are not provided on time and even though she tries to help, the aftermath is not good. I would try another professor, sorry.
I can't think of a better quote to describe the professor than her own words. "I can't tell you when you'll get the test grade back because I don't want to jinx myself and not follow through on the date." - one week AFTER saying grades would be posted the next day. She NEVER responds to emails, how she can give so much work for a 1.5 is a joke!
She is nice and good but extremely hard exams.
She is good and caring but hard exams.
I have attended & graduated from 3 other colleges. This is by far the worst professor I have ever experienced. For my first semester at Baruch, I am honestly disappointed in this course. Tracy Henry is the only 1 who teaches ECO 9730 and she expects you to be an expert after 1 day (3 hours of class). This should be a 3 credit course, not 1.5.
She is very passionate about the material and if you put in the effort and study hard, you will do well. It is a lot of work for a 1.5 credit course but she teaches clearly, answers questions, and wants to see her students succeed.
Just finished the online econ class and this is not an easy class but it's doable if you dedicate the time to study for it. Don't let the below reviews fool you because she is knowledgeable and is a fair grader, you just need to study her material and understand it well to do good on the exams.
too much work for 1.5 credit course but she is good professor and makes class interesting. she teaches real life economic concepts that is helpful for anyone going for master in busines. you will need to put a lot of work into this class to do well but it pays off.
Be prepared for home work assignments and class discussions. Multiple choice questions and fill in the blanks. Professor gives credit for computations.
My one complaint is that she never responds to emails-- ever. Avoid if you can.
This class was terribly taught. Her tests had the familiar material, but used in new ways so we had to guess what she meant. We gave her feedback before the final with suggestions on how to rescue the class both in terms of our grades and so that we'd actually learn something. It fell on deaf ears. If you don't know Econ already, you won't succeed.
A lot of homework but funny thing the exams are totally different from the homework. If you want to pass make sure to read after because the exams are more advance than what you did in class.
Tracy Henry, the worst professor I've had, needs to be reviewed by Baruch. She's unfit for teaching graduate-level courses. We pay a lot for education but get someone who tests differently from what she teaches and delays returning grades. Tracy Henry tarnishes the school's reputation and makes me feel owed a tuition refund.
Late grade submission. Seems to take past criticism, slowly improve (better at email replies). Exams are hard but she covers everything, you have to think critically and really understand the material. Def hard class that you have to put work in. Had recorded zoom option which was essential to follow, giving her a higher rating for that.
So here is the thing. Professor Henry is a great teacher of economics. She needs to respect her student's time more, making sure she posts things on time. Do the homework, lecture activities, and problem sets, and you will do fine on the tests. Disclaimer- On the final, she threw in some new topics, & made a mistake on the1st of a 9 Q set problem.
The workload is heavy, which I didn't mind, but she's chronically late grading. Unfair to students. She has to learn to get to the point more efficiently. Class is nearly 4hrs and there are videos, too. She meanders and digresses too much and at 4hrs it's just stultifying and cruel. Impossible to pay attention. I learned most of the math online.
For a 1.5 credit class, feels like we're doing way more than that and her lectures are pretty boring. The big issue as others have stated though, she never grades stuff on time and that gets frustrating. She doesn't even give students the same leeway she gives herself... Avoid at all costs in my opinion.
This course is among the worst I've taken online. HW solutions were posted less than 48 hours before the midterm, and we were unaware of the exam format. The exam's wording was poor, with ambiguous questions the professor wouldn't clarify. Somehow worse than ECO9730. Lectures are prerecorded; Prof is poor at email communication for an ONLINE COURSE
Nice person, but ultimately a disaster professor. Late to class, specious lectures, asinine assignments, assessment is 100% math and has little to do with economic theory. Rigid in grading and thinking; lectures relevant to the 1950s not in an era of automation/ the 21st-century. One of the worst professors I've ever had.
This is the worst professor at Baruch! She does not care for students or return emails. The grading system was very strict and her teaching method is very confusing so you end up teaching yourself. Avoid her class at all costs.
She never responds to emails for an online class. She also never hands back the final or midterms so you don't even know what's wrong. She takes forever to grade so you have no idea how you're doing in the class. Do yourself a favor and take this class with any other professor.
This professor takes time to grade assignments by hand to apply partial credit if possible. However, this leads to assignments being graded one day before the midterm. She also does not respond to emails in a timely fashion (email TA if you need something). She is a nice person but this course lacks communication.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE A COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Horrible teacher and lack of professionalism.
I really agree with what other individuals have to say about Tracy Henry. I will say she is a nice professor, but she lacks communication, and her assignment instructions are not helpful at all, as she doesn't really elaborate on certain assignments on how and where to obtain certain information. In addition, the midterm and final are difficult.
People dislike her class due to math, but it's just middle school level. She's a slow grader as she wants full solutions for partial credit unlike lazy professors using only Pearson questions. She thoroughly teaches basic concepts, providing varied problem sets and guiding application. First class I felt I learned in this master's program.
I love economics but I hated this class. Unfortunately, all the negatives are true. E-mails asking for help or clarification are ignored. Grading is slow. Little synchronicity between readings, lectures, and tests. Any learning will have to be on your own because this class is a mess.
Professor Henry was a GREAT professor. Took her for ECO 9732 MBA course. Always willing to meet with me during office hours and review the class material or the homework. Truly went out of her way to make herself available and help her students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking Prof Henry!
Prof. Henry teaches the material very well, she walks the class through the examples and answers any questions. However, ECO 4100 is a harddddd class and she uses questions similar to her slides and lecture activities rather than textbook. To do well, go to every class, pay attention, do the hw and any activity she provides. Good luck, you go this!
She knows what she's teaching; she's smart. If you read and practice her slides and problems she gives, you will get a good grade.
**ECO 9732** Overall, I enjoyed this class. The material is not easy, and topics are very dense, but Professor Henry does a decent job explaining concepts. She is lenient with late assignments and a very fair test grader. Grade weight is test-heavy, with homework assignments due weekly. You will do well if you put in the time to study the material.
Professor Henry provides a lot of resources to learn from. There are always lectures, notes, slides, handouts, etc. She gives activity sets that you can practice on and do as many times as you want. Very test heavy, and the material is not easy. She is slow to respond or grade and there are a lot of assignments.
Took the online course. Straight forward assignments, material and exams. My only issue is that she never responded to any emails and took forever to grade. if you make sure to do all assignments this can be an easy A. Good class to take if you are looking for a light class with other harder classes to even out the workload.
ECO 9732 - Do not be afraid!! The ratings made me terrified for this course but Dr. Henry is amazing. The material is difficult and very math/algebra heavy but she makes it easier. I almost want to change my concentration to economics. Exam grades come back quickly but homework takes a bit. Keep reminding her!!
Def heard many horror stories about her, but it was not as bad as I thought. She is very compassionate and cares a lot about her students and is beyond generous with her grading curves. She is a storyteller-type professor and often makes a lot of analogies. If you're a conceptual thinker, then you'll have an easier time learning from her.
Took ECO 9732 as a core MBA class. Prof. Henry is very nice and knowledgeable. The class was too hard. The first exam covered demand, and the second and third exams cover supply and how firms are broken down into four market structures: perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, and monopolistic competition. Be ready to learn and work hard.
She was the worst in terms of sentence framing for quizzes. I think her English is not good.
