Tracy expects a lot out of her students. There is a ton of reading assigned for her class but as long as you do it and the few papers assigned, it is an easy A.

her class was very easy. just show up to class, take the notes, and study and you'll do just fine. she likes to make sure all her students are understanding what she's talking about. the only bad part is a lot of reading, but oh well.

Good, good, a thousand times good. It's always nice to have a professor with a sense of humor, and hers is smart. The tests are fine; often you pick 25 questions out of 30 to answer.

Excellent prof! She makes full use of class time so you get your money's worth. Very straight forward. She ties in all the concepts to things that are going on in our country and around the world flawlessly! Even if Soc isn't your thing, you could learn a lot from this class! Take it!

This class was awesome. Quite a bit of reading but it is a 400 level course. Take this course if you are interested in understanding more about the food process, from field to table, and all the issues behind this process. Very eye opening, interesting readings. Definitely worth taking. Great Prof.

She was very easy to understand. pretty fun class but the test were kind of hard. There was three test and each one was worth 15% of your grade. she gives extra credit. as much as you want to do.

You guys are blowing this out of porportion she has her opinions and so do you. how does she try to force it down our throat. I think if you do the readings and come to class it will be allright. You act like this is high school where you have to go to school.if you dont like it take another class

this class wasnt too bad. we had daily quizes but they just counted as participation points. the tests were easy. came right off the lecture material and readings, test had 30 questions but only had to answer 25 which was cool because you could skip any five you wanted to. lectures where good

She is nice and she threatens to do things, like an extra assignment or something, but she never does

the first half of this class with ore was interesting and pretty easy. Her tests are nice because you only half to answer 25 out of 30. Great teacher! Much better teaching techniques then second half with scheel.

Tracy Ore is BEYOND the best professor I have had at SCSU!! She is sarcastic and has a great sense of humor! She always kept me interested in what she was going to say next. Sadly though, she only taught the 1st half...beware of the professor after her, I did NOT like her at ALL.

Tracy is so incredibly intelligent. She definitely expects alot from her students, but she is always ready to help.

Its a good class, very interesting. Ore is very opinionated, but keeps it in the best interest of her students. Its a big class, but you will feel like you actually know her once the class is done. Tests are a breeze as long as you take all the notes and review the study guide for an hour or so. Its a good class, good luck!

Tons of work, reading, activities, etc. Very worth while teacher. Very educated, thoughtful, provoking. Likes participation. Hard to reach through email and phone. If you don't mind her holding you to task on all of her readings (up to 10 per week), she is GREAT!

If you don't mind doing a lot of reading every week, she is an awesome professor. She does give random reading quizes that are worth a good portion of your grade but she makes the class interesting and interactive. Very educated and cares very much about what she teaches! Take her if you can!

Soc 111 with Tracy Ore remains my favorite class out of my 2 1/2 years at SCSU. This class really sparked my interest for sociology. Very intelligent, helpful and witty. Tracy Ore is my favorite professor ever.

One of the best teachers i have at at SCSU.. i had her in the FYE program along with Dr. Fox in english 191... best two classes i have had.. Dr. Ore really wants to you learn about Soc, yes her classes are a bit hard at times but with her i never seems like work. she incorperates her personal opinions at times but there great ones! Great professor. There are readings and quizzes in class on them. She does take off for attendence, so you have to go, but it's interesting so it's worth it. Good teacher, fair grader. She makes the lectures fairly interesting and as long as you do the readings the tests should be easy. Anybody who thinks she's a bad teacher because of how she covers homosexuality, obviously is homophobic because she rarely discusses her own opinions but instead talks about the issue from a sociological perspective.

Dr. Ore is by far my favorite professor at SCSU. She's fun, sarcastic and easy to get along with. She wants everyone to succeed. She's cynical, swears like a sailor and made seeing through all the falsehoods in our society fun! I highly recommend taking her, even if you don't like Sociology, in which case she'll probably spark an interest in you.

Tracy is the best teacher I would say! She is the most helpful teacher, she let's you know clearly that she will understand and excuse you if you let her know what's up. She makes sure that you don't fail and she worries about her students dearly. SOC 111 is a very interesting class with professor Ore! She is nice and kind, nothing to be scared of.

Tracy ore is a great teacher. If you are ok with attending class every day and doing a decent amount of work, then definitely take this class. It is pretty easy and interesting.

Dr.Ore does not have a super easy class. You need to show up everytime because you are graded on attendance. Her 3 exams that are each 20percent of your grade, have to read a lot and study all your notes, because there is bits of everything on the exam. She is one who says she will not tell you her view points, but she does make them clear.

Prof. Ore is a good teacher. There are lots and lots and lots of readings and notes, but if you do the readings and take the notes you will learn a ton. I have learned so many things about how the world works from this class. Sometimes gets a little boring because she literally pummels you with information. Interesting, yet challenging.

Pretty easy class. She says not to make flashcards of the terms on the study guide but that is what I did and that is why I passed her tests! Oh and also read the readings! She makes her opinion very clear although she wont admit it.

Tracy was by far my favorite professor my fall semester! She is really funny and has a lot of stories that add to the class! She says not to use notecards but that is what I used to ace her exams. If you take notes, show up to class, and study for the exams you will get an easy A!

Great Professor! Knows what she's talking about. She hates it when people text in her class or is being rude. She knows how to come back at you if you try to put up an argument with her. Do the readings and study her study guide and you should do fine. She lets you retake your exams if you fail the first time. Great class and professor!

Great teacher. She definitely gives you a reality check if you are playing with your phone or sleeping in her class. All she grades are quizzes and exams so do well but if you study it's not too bad at all. She knows what she's talking about and funny.

I recommend this professor. She makes class very easy going and explanatory. 3 tests, have a chance to retake if you get a C or below. You have many reading to read each week, but that's the only work you do. If you do the review guide and study that, an A in the class is fairly easy

Pretty simple class. I had to study a lot. I think I used the book once or twice. Luckily, I got an A+.

I personally enjoyed this class! There is lots of note taking, Attendance is mandatory we used TopHat, She never cancelled, lots of reading, tests were fairly easy. If you can memorize concepts and apply them you'll do just fine. She is not very lenient - her syllabus is clear. She won't let you take advantage so don't even try it.

She was a joy to be in class with. Yes, she made us put our phones away, but only so we could pay attention to her lecture. I loved this class and we discussed a lot of topics that are touchy. Very caring professor, wants all her students to pass. Very specific on how she tests and as long as you pay attention or go to supplemental instruction you will get an A. There are quite a few reading assignments but if you don't want to put in time and effort why are you in college? She is wonderful and I would definitely take her class again.

She's a pretty clear-cut person. Coming to classClass participation grade. Does not want to see any phones out during her lectures. Her exams are easy if you go to supplementary instruction (I went from a C- to an A on the second exam). MUST READ THE TEXTBOOK. Easy A if you pay attention and come to class.

SOC160 w/Tracy (Dr. Ore) is easily the best-taught class I have taken at SCSU and among the most interesting. Advice: Do readings. Show up to class & stay awake. Stay off your phone. Pay attention & go to supplementary instruction - helps with exams. Knowledgeable, blunt and hilariously sarcastic professor makes lectures excellent and relevant.

I love her. I would take her classes all day if I could. Her lectures last 1 1/2 hours, and she uses every minute of it. Make sure you read and study for tests. She has tutors that set up sessions for almost every day of the week. If you get a C- or below you will be able to retake tests. There is not reason not to pass.

Professor Ore is easily one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Her lectures are somewhat long, but the time flies by. She makes the information easy to understand and apply to real life. She is also funny which makes everything more interesting. Love this class and Tracy!

Professor Ore's class was simple if you showed up to lectures every day that there was class and attended supplimental instructions once before the exam. If you get a C or lower on her first two exams she lets you retake the exam as long as you attend an SI. I didn't pay much attention in the class, but attended SI and passed with a B or higher.

Easy class, show up for attendance and zone out. Barely took notes, if you attend a SI before the test, you'll ace it. Don't bother buying the book, there's PDFs of every chapter, not that you'll need them, almost all the quiz answers are on quizlet.

She is a very good Professor , I would take her class again. You really should pay attention in her class and she will help you as much as you need. She really wants you to succeed.

She has funny personal stories that tie into the lecture well - I remembered stuff because of those. She offers a lot of SI, too. She takes attendance on Top Hat and doesn't post lectures online so showing up is needed if you wanna pass. She makes it clear what is gonna be on the tests so it's easy to study for. There are lots of readings, though.

LOVVVVVE Prof. Ore! There's like 4 or 5 exams and a few quizzes in between them. If you go to class and pay attention (which isn't hard because she talks about relevant stuff and is funny) you'll do fine on the exams. There's readings for every week, which get a little heavy (quizzes based on them, mentioned on exams) but other than that, 5 stars.

Professor really made a general soc class as interesting as she could. Directly related concepts to personal stories, and tried not to bore the class. Attendance was important and there was quite a bit of reading, but prof was very funny and generally cared about the well being of her students and their final grades.

Her test questions are directly from her lecture/powerpoint slides so as long as you pay attention in class and copy her slides down word for word, you'll be fine. About 80% of her test questions are on lecture and the other 20% are on the readings, and she often discusses the key ideas she wants you to get from the readings in class though

She seems really strict and scary in the beginning, but she just cares for the students to pass the class. She's actually very nice and knows how to teach! She gives a lot of examples that are very helpful to understand the topics. A lot of readings for this class. In my opinion, it's a textbook I read and get new perspectives of things.

she is very kind but also very upfront in a non rude way. lecture is long but she keeps it interesting. her tests are not to hard if you read the stories. she is very understanding when it comes to life struggles. she lets you retake tests if u get a 65% or lower. she is the best professor. just make sure you don't talk during lecture.

This class turned out to be my favorite class I have ever taken. Dr. Ore is an amazing professor, she doesn't try to trick you and she honestly wants you to succeed. Ore wants her students to pass with an A. The class is difficult, but she gives you ways to bump your grade up. Her tests can be hard, but as long as you understand the content you will be fine! She is hilarious and very sarcastic, so her lectures are pretty enjoyable. You do have to read in the class, but the readings aren't that bad!

Tracy Ore was one of my favorite professors. She was always doing her best to make lecture a little more interesting because it is such a big class. Reading the book is really important but the articles she has you read from it are actually interesting. There are about 5 quizzes and 3 exams, not a difficult class if you show up and pay attention.

She is helpful and you can always go to her if you need help. She usually organizes study sessions before exams and they are helpful. Going to class is mandatory but if you let her know whats going on she will take care of it.

Professor Ore is AMAZING. All that was required is to show up to class on time and if you are going to miss, make sure you email her (addressing her appropriately in email). There were a few online quizzes, and 4 exams not including your final. Reading is required because questions will be on the quizzes and exams. Easy A.

Grade is based entirely on papers. No tests in this class. The material is interesting, but she posts A LOT of it. You don't have to read everything as long as you understand that material enough to write a 3-page reflection on it. Grade is based on 6 3-page reflections, annotated bibliography, lit review, and final research paper.

Very thorough and straightforward with her lectures, assignments, reminders, and testing policies. Two papers, 14 quizzes, and lots of readings. She is very passionate about improving students learning and manages to tie interesting personal stories with class content to better understanding. Would take again.

Tracy is the most inspirational prof. I've had. She covered her lectures in personal, applicable stories that related to her lessons. Attendance was in no way mandatory, as all answers to the online quizzes can be found on the slideshow she goes through. She is funny, straightforward, blunt and a great teacher when it comes to the basics of socio.

We only had three real assignments and the rest were simple open-book quizzes. She was always helpful with her responses to the assignments, it did seem like she had to "dumb down" some of the answers to in-class questions as some of the topics we discussed were relatively difficult to understand directly from the slides.

She is a very blunt professor, but only because she is passionate about what she is saying. All you have to do is take weekly quizzes and as long as you do the readings she assigns for each week you will do great. She also really appreciates anyone who takes the time to do the readings, really makes her day so just do them if you have the time.
