God, she was annoying. Her essays all had the same topic: politics. And she doesn't make much of an effort to hide her politics, either. When we weren't clear on directions, she acted like we should've known anyway. She also complained about her personal life. The one nice thing she did was let us a group final exam. No one liked her in the end.
She was a great teacher!! She was very helpful and understanding. She will take the time to listen to you and help you in anyway outside of the class she could with your paper. I plan on taking her for the next class!!
she is a very understanding person. although she does touch on her personal life every once in a wile, its really not that bad.. she will do anything to help you. she wants you to do well. her teaching skills are very esay to deal with. just come to class and do your work, and your good.
She was the most awesome english teacher! She is understanding and will love you if you participate in discussions. She doesn't grade you really hard on essays (stuff like grammar and punctuation won't ding you) and her class is entertaining (she played a comedy video to introduce one of our essays). I would highly reccommend her :)
extremely easy, take her if you want an english class where you learn nothing and consistently feel like you're wasting your time being there. But hey! you will pass ;).
She is a wonderful teacher and I have taken her for two writing class! I have never had a teacher that has influenced me the way she has! I would love to be able take her for all of my writing classes. I would tell anyone to take her, she is just amazing!
This teacher is no good, not only way she absent from 5 classes she didn't teach us hardly anything. She was not cleary and never pushed back the deadlines. She practically made passing nearly impossible.
She's a very sweet woman and a very helpful instructor, but her dedication to teaching is questionable. Her frequent absences were bothersome.
Well she's an overall good teacher! :] The only downside is the way she grades us; I doubt that someone in my class will get an A, maybe mostly B - B+'s.
She grades like a 3rd grade teacher. She would assign papers and not understand her own assignment. She played favorites, plagerized often, and couldnt answer questions. I learned nothing from this class.
I took her Women in Literature class and it made a bisexual English major hate both English and Literature. Her standards for her students are much higher than her standards for her own teaching. She never stuck to her course outline, but expected us to always know what to have read and then to be ready to be tested on it. Thanks for ruining my GPA
She's good with test, but she gets behind in grading which is a pain. Essay topics are okay, but she grades them in a interesting way. She will comment on some things but she won't tell you all your grammar mistakes and then give you a 37% then on the 2nd draft she will and mark you down on grammar
Good Professor, just keep up on your readings which are easy and do your hw. Also be on time and always come to class cause she takes attendance everyday! gets behind on grading but no big deal. She explains everything clearly and shes a good lecturer :)
She really takes the time to make sure you understand each section. She wants you to do well and gives you great advice when writing. I learned so much from her and recommend her to anyone wanting to really do well and learn the material. She makes it simple and fun especially if you think English is not your subject. I would take her again.
A very nice and understanding professor but she might be too nice. She offered to drop our lowest test, have re-takes and accepted many late assignments. It was very frustrating for me as a student to turn in all the assignments on time and pass the tests while the other students who fail tests and turn in late assignments don't get penalties.
Great teacher, however it was the class that made it very interesting. She does not make anything really challenging but it is a lot of reading and writing.
She is a pretty good teacher. The book she uses is pretty boring and it's not the easiest class ever but she is understanding and wants you to pass the class :)
Very nice teacher. I enjoyed her class.
I did not like this teacher she put to much of an emphasis on work. I felt overextended by doing her homework because there was so much. She did not pass me however I kept up with studying and doing homework. Overall there are better professors out there. Don't take her.
This was my second time taking her for an english course i love her. shes easy and hw is easy. lots of assignments but your good if u do them all. she wants everyone to pass and will work with the class to do so. this class was super easy i felt like i was in 5th grade. just do the hw and go to class and u will do fine!
She's really easy but i dont think anyone in the class got an A. I had a 94 but she lost 3 of my journals and gave me a C on the last essay. So i ended up with a B in the class!!!!!!
She is nice outside of class, but inside class.. It is SUPER boring and we lern nothing. Al she does is go over things we learned in every other prior english class. She also treats us like we are 7 years old in some ways and then hands us these confusing prompts and never explains her expectations. She grades off of her oponion and takes forever.
She is a horrible teacher. I felt like I learned more about her personal life then writing an essay. She is very late with giving you back your material so self-improvement is almost impossible. I would stay away!
Be ready to talk about your "feelings" a lot! She reminds me of an elementary school teacher. She spent way too much time talking about common sense things and not enough on how to structure your essays. Which is why I wanted to take this course. I got an A in the class, but I did not enjoy it.
Seems like a nice person but it felt like middle school English all over again. She made us do so much unnecessary group work and even made us draw pictures. She talked too fast but did not let us use our laptops to take notes. Made me hate literature even more.
Fairly easy, although you do have to use your textbooks a lot. She is nice and generally forgiving. At least her class isn't too boring.
Mrs. R is very nice, and has passion for her job; however, grades slowly which makes self improvement impossible. Most of these posts are spot on. I feel even w/ an "A" I will need to retake course with diff teacher to be at college level. DO NOT TAKE if English is detrimental to your major. You will "learn" more about "yourself" then English.
This teacher has little to add as far as constructive criticism. It seems to be that she grades off of how much you agree with her opinions and not so much on the content of the essays written. Her inability to provide useful lectures makes the class unbearable to be in. I would not recommend this teacher because of her attitude in the classroom.
She is a GREAT teacher! I took her class last semester for English Writing 101. She teaches clear, is straight forward, and I learned a great amount in her class. She really cares about her students learning, instead of just going through the assignments. Highly recommend taking her classes!
Rauschkolb is a very nice lady and has a good heart. Personality aside, she is the worst teacher I have ever had. She has canceled 6 times so far this semester and often blames it on back pain. Half the time there is no notification about it either cause it's so last minute. Never grades on time. Worst prompts ever, and I like writing. Don't take!
She is a good person, but as far as being a teacher she is a little disorganized. She is forgetful at times and off topic other times. Also she gives way to much homework then takes forever to grade it all.
She doesn't provide good feedback on essays and grades them super hard. She takes forever to get back essays too. She is not unbearable though.
Terrible teacher! Misses classes, out for two weeks. Prompts are dull, dull, dull, and ridiculously inadequate and unclear. She loses work, is not clear on assignments, and I am not interested in her party days. Show up and teach the class!!!
Terrible teacher, always late or cancelling class. Says she doesnt feel like teaching today and sends everyone home, then expects you to learn material on your own and be able to test on it. Doesnt give good feedback on essays or assignments. she also takes forever to grade so you will never she returned papers or updated D2L,
i had a good experience with her, made me confident in my writing skills. class drags on a little but she usually keeps me entertained and engaged. A lot of group peer editing but it helps with your papers. have to keep up with online homework but its not challenging. nice teacher, she seems to really care about her students.
If you struggle and need real guidance in English do not take. She only graded 2 of our papers during the semester, the remaining 5 she graded and returned like the last week of class so it's impossible to know what you needed to work on. I had better writing feedback from my history class then this class, which is kind of disappointing.
I have taken English 102 and 101 yet I have not had the understanding of what I was learning until I took Tracy Rauschkolb's class. She is way unbelievable, under rated for she is fair, clear and understanding to your specific situation but do not take her as a push over she is not. She deserves one of the top scores for she is one of the best
Rauschkolb is super fun and nice and she does provide feedback! (don't listen to the grumpies) you just need to make sure to go up to her and ask about it just like with any professor. Fair grader wanted to take her for 300, 301302 but she wasn't teaching the semester I took the classes. All in all one of my favorite teachers on campus!
she was a good teacher and she notices if you work hard. they papers she assigns are hard but she is really slow at returning work. she is funny and overall this 310 class was somewhat easy
She complains a lot. It'll be forever before you get a grade back on a paper, so you don't really know what you need to improve on. She'll help you but only if you ask. The prompts aren't very helpful. You'll more than likely need a tutor for this class because her instructions are so vague.
Professor Rauschkolb is great, it's an easy class and each class session is different from the one before, you won't get bored in this class and it is quite easy to get an A. There are 4-5 papers throughout the semester that she grades two days before the end of class but she is a lenient grader. Tests are simple and vocab is easy stuff.
She is the worse professor I ever had, she is terrible teacher do not recommend her at all. always blame back pain for her late works.
-blames everything on back pain -misses classes constantly -has strict syllabus, but doesn't stick to it (see above) -unquestionable authority -technology illiterate -extremely poorly organized -speaks too fast, but does everything else very slowly She combines the worst qualities of the tortise and the hare. Good luck.
Worst professor I have ever had. She is super unorganized, skips class a lot, very slow at grading papers so it's unlikely you'll get to improve on your mistakes for future papers. She does not stick to her syllabus & complains a lot. She has many excuses for things. Overall, I wish I read the reviews before I took her class.
Although Professor Rauschkolb is a very good person, she is not the greatest teacher. She is negative and talks as if she is bored with her job choice. She cancels class ALL the time and changes due dates around a lot. She also does not truly teach anything. However, if you want an easy grade then she is the professor for you.
Terrible. I had to sit through her class this semester learning absolute nothing at all!! I am about to take her final and I do not even know what it is on because we have not learned anything. We had five essays she has only graded two and it is the end of the year. She cancels class and moves around due dates every single week. nice lady.
She is good. For grades, you'll get a good grade but you have to earn it
The absolute worst professor I've ever had. Always makes excuses for why she doesn't do her job. Do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from her class if possible. You will not learn anything and her pathetic excuses will come at the detriment of your GPA.
Worst professor I have ever had and the only "C" I ever received in College. She lost papers, cancelled class, and didn't correct our essay until finals week. So good luck trying to improve your writing or know how you're doing in the class. Way too much to read. 5 homeworks assignments every day including the reading out of 3 books.
Get on her good side, go to the writing center for help. Show her that you are making good effort and putting in work and you will be rewarded!
Do not take her class! She never grades anything! Final grades still arent posted and the semester ended 3 weeks ago. Her essay prompts are unclear and make writing the essays vert difficult. Overall she seems uninterested in being a teacher . Very sad, she should quite and let someone who actually wants to teach have a job.
It is no lie that this Professor gets WAY BEHIND with grading. We are at the end of the term and only 1 of the 4 mandatory essays have been graded. It is difficult to improve or even know how you are doing with the way she hands out grades. Her instructions are not very clear as well. Would not recommend.
Worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Very nice, seems to genuinely care for students and their success. Although, she seems to hate her job and it shows. Takes FOREVER to grade and give feedback. Assigns more hw than she can keep up with and uses way too much paper. Very boring to listen to, do yourself a favor and don't take her class.
Professor R has been the toughest and unprofessional professor I have ever had. She gives so many assignments that she cannot keep up with grading anything on time. If you have to take this class with her I recommend reading her instructions thoroughly. Do not fall behind! Do the work without complaining about it.
The amount of homework was ridiculous! It was never-ending and felt like I could never be caught up. It felt like 4 different classes in one. Felt impossible to continue a topic for an essay for 6-8 pages. I only had 3 weeks left and ended up dropping because it was too much stress!
She takes ages to grade your papers, is super harsh, yet doesn't give much if any helpful feedback unless you drag it out of her. Contradicts herself a lot, acts nice and friendly but there's so much to do that if you miss a class or a few assignments? Good luck.
Im not sure why theres so many negative reviews, shes one of my favorite professors that Ive had so far. She does give lots of homework but its all helpful for writing the essays. Ive never had another professor who cares about their students success like she does. If you want a tough but rewarding class, I highly recommend!
She waits until last minute to grade papers which is anything but helpful in becoming a better writer. Gives little feedback and no on-time grading to allow self improvement and learning. Assigns readings that are controversial and uncomfortable topics, then says she must take a break from grading because the topics are too heavy to grade.
Taken Fall 2020, all online and asynchronous due to Covid. She's not very tech. literate, assigns a TON of work every week, is slow to respond to emails and was quick to shut down any complaints (specifically in response to our anonymous mid-semester feedback survey) by saying "I'm not sure what any of you were expecting in college."
This is the 2nd worst professor Ive had in my College experience. The last 2 papers, she thinks they have plagruism in them. I dont know how she thinks that. Im going to complain to my DSPS if she keeps it up.
I honestly really loved this class. It was difficult, but if you put in the effort and actually read all the directions (shocker that ppl dont) then youll easily get a good grade. Four essays are required, but the topics she picks are interesting, relatable for anyone, and pretty flexible for you to pick something you actually want to write about
First year of college, but that's besides the point. I spend over 7+ hours on this class alone while working almost a full-time job. Lots of reading especially during a hard time of a Covid pandemic and seems to hate grading. Lets the class know that she just started grading papers and asks us to wait patiently while we have a week of a TON of work
I actually enjoyed this class! There was a lot of homework but that is expected. This prof is caring, sweet, and genuine. You can really tell she cares about students. I'm taking her again for a different course, so that says a lot.
Prof. R is one of the best professors I have had so far in my college experience. I have taken a number of classes with her and I always finish them feeling like I learned something useful. She gives a lot of work, but it all teaches valuable skills and helps with future assignments. I highly recommend taking a class with her if you love to learn!
One of the rudest professors Ive ever dealt with. She grades extremely hard and then instead of giving helpful feedback shes extremely disrespectful. Dont do it again or itll be a zero, youll be dropped, etc.
This was the worst Professor I have ever had. Not only was she super inconsistent with her grading, but she was also very rude when you asked for explanations about a grade since she doesnt give any beneficial feedback. Super late on grading essays, cant even use what little info she gives to do better on next one. 100% dont recommend her.
Professor Rauschkolb is easily one of my favorite teachers or professors I've ever had. Her lectures were fun and informative and you can tell she wants you to really understand what's being taught. There are a lot of assigned readings but I found them all to be interesting. I think she graded fairly, but it takes a while for her to grade.
Extremely unprofessional, very rude when someone questions a grade she gave, contradicts herself when explaining her grading, it is the end of finals week and she still has only graded 1 of 4 essays we have written over the past few months, makes excuses on why she is taking so long to grade, clearly what she does every year based on other ratings
Professor Rauschkolb is clearly a professor who cares about her students and gives tough love. My poor grade is due to procrastination and poor study habits, not her teaching. I never had many of the problems with her that some other students on this site have brought up. Mrs.Rauschkolb won't go easy on you, but she's kind and easy to respect.
Here's an honest review - This is a tough class. If you can get things done early, you will do very well. There are a lot of smaller assignments and discussions. There are 4 speeches and she grades very slow. Almost time to turn in my 4th essay and she just graded the first one from Sept. The Prof is honest and gives tough love, fairly tough grader.
She is wonderful, kind, and her down to earth personality are top notch! I she has been such a wonderful professor, wanted to show my thanks, here I am. Her score seems to be mad students who couldn't take the heat and left the kitchen in a tantrum. I mean how bad is someone who gives you extra credit for getting help from the free embedded tutor?
I have a dyslexia background and it causes me to struggle a lot in English. I have taken professor Tracy class for English 300 and 301. I have really enjoyed it, there are many different teaching strategies she uses like working in small groups showing videos and overall going in depth about a subject. She cares and she will help you do well.
I've taken ENGWR 300 & 301, and some online ENGLT courses with her. It is clear that she loves teaching and cares about her students. She makes in-person classes exciting with entertaining personal stories and engaging lessons. She is also a phenomenal teacher in an online format, with organized courses and clear expectations. Would recommend!
She is a good teacher. Lectures are clear and makes them fun with activities. Tough grader on essays. Essays get longer as semester goes on ending with 12+ pages. I enjoyed the class. Wasn't too difficult if you keep up with homework and reading. Definitely not an easy class though. She is a nice lady and is willing to accomidate. Would take again!
Not a class for scholars. She provides highly basic understanding of terms, uses bad analogies, worse videos; lectures seem redundant for class level. Tons of handouts, but no real quality guidance for assignments and Essays. Lack of critical analysis + depth of conversation, reflects in group discussion. Teaching style expected at middle schools.
She is nice until you challenge her—on anything. Disagree even slightly, and brace for a narcissistic rant about how right she is, gaslighting, veiled insults, zero empathy, and being labeled a victim. Her entitlement is both ironic and terrifying. Many classmates and staff have complained. Avoid and take David Lacy who actually has a soul.
Professor gives 4 essays thru the semester and a ton of reading. Essays have a ton of requirements and her rubric makes it near impossible to get a good grade. Professor does not prepare you for essays in class well. A lot of paper handouts she gives but not good quality or prep for essays which are worth the majority of your grade.
This professor was always doing so much and is so awful. would not recommend taking her!!
Tracy Rauschkolb has extreme guidelines for papers and scrapes off points at every turn. Essays are worth 70% of your grade and you will likely get a C because of this ridiculous grading criteria. Prepare to spend a lot of time for a bad grade
I took her online ENGWR 300 class and it was very easy for me. All but the last essay were pretty much narratives so they can be done very easily if you like that kinda thing. The work online wasn't very hard to do, and wasn't hard to keep on top of it. I can see why others dislike her but she wasn't that terrible.
I had her for creative nonfiction writing (a class I took for fun) and it was the most STRESSFUL class I had. It was supposed to be a fun class where I work on my writing skills. Not only did she not help, she assigned excessive work that didn't teach me anything. Then she was never on top of any grading while being extremely passive aggressive.
Professor Rauschkolb is quite the character and an extremely difficult grader. She is a slow grader, be prepared to not know your grade in the class until the semester is over. Do not take her. If you absolutely must, take her online.
DO. NOT. TAKE.
Avoid this professor
Worst professor I've ever had. She's an incredibly difficult grader and she makes it impossible to get an A. Lectures are useless. I put as much effort as a 5-unit class. By the end of the fall semester, she hadn't graded any essays/assignments since 10/31. My high school english teachers are a million times better than her.
Umempathetic. Blunt, and I wouldn't ordinarily have an issue with it, but she is not blunt in a respectful way. As a student that usually needs support, this makes her extremely unapproachable. I will not be returning after this semester.
Never grades!! Took all term to get feedback on anything. COMPLAINS ABOUT BEING A TEACHER she hates her job and it shows. Completely unwilling to work through issues. Disrespectful of students time. She once put the wrong due date on an assignment and instead of giving us time to finish it, made us complete it that day (which was on Halloween).
*sigh* I come back here once and a while in hopes it's gotten better but it never does. Don't take this professor ever
I used to leave my seatbelt unbuckled otw hoping I wouldn't make it to class
Do not do it. Work is never graded in a timely manner and due dates would change abruptly without an announcement (rarely in favor of the student)
