She is great! Tells the class what is permitted and expected of you in the first class. No guessing! Excellent!
great teacher, probably one of my most enjoyable classes taken at pcc. read and you'll be fine.
Great teacher! Very clear expectations -- read, take notes and participate and you will do well. Good lecturer.
I love love love this professor! This class has been one of the most exciting and informative i've taken in a long, long time. Prof. Sachtjen is super passionate, so helpful, encouraging, witty, funny and a very fair grader!! Not an easy A, but not a hard one. Tracy is super helpful and does everything to see you succeed!
This professor is amazing! Her exams are based on lectures. So those of you who do not like lectures and cannot take exams based on lectures and readings, then this class is not for you. Overall this professor is thorough and fun!
I'm sorry but sachtjen is a drill sargent!!! She loads you up a ridiculous amount of readings. If you are to take her class my recommendation is to ONLY take her class and no other class at the same time since there is too much work involved!!!! Her exams are very tough as well!!! I would not take her she is very intimidating and condesending!!!!!!
very passionate and witty teacher. very intimidating at the beginning, but ends up warming up to the students who are serious enough to complete the assigned readings.
Awesome teacher. Really helpful, grades hard but gives out EC if you participate. Do the readings!! Smart, funny, dumbs it down so you understand what she's talking about. I would take her again.
Very friendly and funny. Make sure you do the readings, only used the textbook as a reference. Nice enough to let you use a cheat sheet for exams.
Tracy is the best! Her class is super fun and shes really entertaining. ALOTS of reading but not as bad as it seems. Show up to class cause her mid terms and exams are all lecture based, the more interactive you are in class the easier it is! Always in her office during office hours and willing to help as much as she can.
sachtjen is the best professor at pcc. she offers extra credit, allows cheat sheets for exams, and has lots of group work. she makes history fun and interesting. she is also funny. the final was pretty long but not hard material.
Interesting lectures, good sense of humor, but a little too much group work for my taste. If you're planning on getting an A, make her think she's conducting the most awesome class in the world.. sucking up will help I assume.
She requires a heavy reading and writing load in her histoy 7A class.First,She is a very nice professor, and gives out subtianial amount of EX in favor of helping students to get As.But if u r a foreigh students as I am,I donot suggest u to take her 7a class cuz you have to write throughout the whole meeting time on the tests. And she keeps talking
This professor is HARD! Definitely not an easy A but this class is extremely interesting. She makes history very interesting, and she's very funny but there is HUGE amounts of reading, and she expects A LOT out of essays. So those of you barely going back to college for the first time in a while, I suggest you pass English1A before taking her class
Prof.Sachtjen (sounds like Satchen) is a very liberal feminist professor. She teaches American history from the perspective that women were inferior and white men ruled, etc. That being said, as an instructor, she actually is very pleasant. I disagree with most of her views, but I did most of the reading and tested well, got extra credit, got an A+
Professor Sachtjen is very straight forward with what she expects from the class. Studyguides are handed out a week before exams, there are no surprises. Attendance mandatory as the lectures compliment your reading. 20% of your grade is based on participation. Overall the class doesn't demand TOO much reading. Awesome class.
Professor Sachtjen made it a pleasure to come to class. I didn't think I'd like history at all, but this class was awesome! Great class! I must say it was a lot of reading, but worth it. Take her!
She is a passionate history prof and moderate feminist who sometimes lecture in abstract language that is hard to follow. However, her lectures are still interesting and thought-provoking. She doesn't try to force any feminist views onto you, but points out the many ideas and principles plaguing women's equality. I loved her & highly recommend her!
She comes off like a very good teacher but after the first 2 weeks starts to pick out favorites, and gives them a better grade overall, so i highly wont recomend p.s alot of essays if you like go for it, and she gives donuts for exams.
Dr. Sachtjen was a great professor. Kept class interesting and the content was great. Learned about famous women in history such as Harriet Jacobs and also learned about Courtney Love, Selena, and Madonna. Very interesting and inspiring class!
A passionate professor who cares about her students and her community. Tough but scrupulously fair, if you do the reading and participate you will do well and learn so much.
What's with the few negative comments? Professor Sachtjen is awesome! She makes class so fun, is clear, and is ALWAYS willing to help and replies to e-mails. She offers class notes on blackboard to print so you can listen better during class. She has study guides that correspond with her test. If you cannot get an A in her class, it's you. Not her.
If u r not good at writing, donot take'er cuz her tests requre tons of writings. Her lectures r crystal, organized,n intertained. She likes student to ask questions and visit her office hrs.If u wanna get an A in her class, you must study hard, super hard.Overall, she s a nice teacher but not easygoing.
I was very disappointed with my grade in her class. I studied hard for her exams and I had a buddy in class in which we studied together. She gave her a B and me a C when we did the same work. You have to read an articles everyday that are 30-40 pgs long. That speaks for itself.
Tons of boring reading. Tests are all essay and long. Lectures are moderate. Comes off very condescending and thinks she's funny. If you don't like essay tests, tons of reading, and boring lectures, find another professor. Btw, she's not that hot.
If lazy dont take her. she does prepare you for Univeristy level work and reading. highly recommend. plenty of reading. makes you earn grade, dosent hand them out.
a ton of readings, and she ask alot of questions on readings in class, if u dont keep up with the readings by the time mid-term and final comes along, you would fail impossible to finish all the readings in a night, she's not too hard, but not too easy, u just have to work a little more for ur grade than for other professors
It is rare that you find a prof. who makes class interesting.Prof. Sachtjen surpasses that adjective ten-fold.She is motivating, inspiring and challenging. If you aren't a competent writer, beware, she expects university level writing. Her approach is organized, unconventional, engaging, and has changed me for the better.I highly recommend her class.
By far the easiest History class I've taken at P.C.C. I barely read the required readings, got **** and partied the night before the tests and I was still able to receive an A. My lowest test score was a 100% and highest was a 102%. This class is a joke because I didn't learn anything. It behooves all History majors to avoid this class.
She's super amazing I love her! She makes lectures interesting & fun. Lots of reading and unexpected quizzes. Be prepared!! But id recommend her to anyone!
she gives like 40 pages reading each week which doesnt leave any time for your other classes. She's kinda arrogant and thinks she's the best. i dropped the class becasue i didnt like her attitude and didnt have enough time to study for my other classes
she gives like 40 pages reading each week which doesnt leave any time for your other classes. She's kinda arrogant and thinks she's the best. i dropped the class becasue i didnt like her attitude and didnt have enough time to study for my other classes
She's fairly entertaining...but the class can be quite long...3 essays, no test whatsoever. she will def. help you out with your papers too...go take her...she's quite a hottie with a body
The BEST professor at PCC by far! She is funny, super intelligent and creative. She really cares that you comprehend the material. I was never crazy about History but the section I took, she made very interesting and entertaining. Take any of her classes!!
I really enjoyed Dr. Sachtjen's class. I am a history major, so I enjoy history, but let's be honest - there are boring history teachers out there. Dr. Sachtjen is NOT one of those teachers. She has a passion for the subject and it shows - her classes are fun and interesting. You won't regret taking her class!
she's arrogant and rude. dropped her class. do not take if you're not a feminist.
Dr. Sachtjen is the best prof I've ever taken! Yes, she assigns a fair amount of reading, yes she requires you write 3 papers &, yes, she's a feminist. She says time & again that you're free to disagree w/her. Open discourse is encouraged. She's super smart, super talented & if you want an eye opening viewpoint on women's history, you'll take her.
Work hard, read, take notes, get a study partner. You'll get a B, if you want the A. Write more on the exams, pay attention, kick ass and you're golden. Lots of reading, but this is college, city college.
Prof. Sachtjen gives great lectures and really knows what she's talking about whilst teaching. However, she can be very condescending, makes "binder" and participation each worth 20% of your grade, and treats you like an child. I wrote 3 A essays and ended up with a low B b/c of my unorganized binder and not jumping at every opportunity to speak up
Great class! Sachtjen is a great professor! Hard work & you need to study! If you're looking for an easy A, STAY AWAY! If you want an awesome professor & really learn about history, TAKE THIS CLASS! Sachtjen is intimidating, but that is just rough exterior. She is really cares about her students and will help!! Highly recommend!
I ended up with an A for this class, but I had to work hard for it. You have to do the readings and attend class, but it's not bad bc her lectures are really interesting. There were only 2 exams and the final, but she gives you a study guide and allows a 1-pg cheat sheet for each. With all the help she gives, it's not impossible to get an A :)
She is great. Loved the lectures and learned tons from this class. If you take her you are doing yourself a favor.
I took her HIST 7A during the summer. We had a lot of reading to do, I sometime spend 3 to 4 hours reading. I guess she is a lot more lenient during the summer. The best thing is that she gives us an opportunity to use a cheat sheet on the exams. It helped me alot.
Dr. Sachtjen Rocks Women's History! I never thought a history class could be this interesting and engaging.Made my summer! I could not wait to go to class each day. Prof Sachtjen's teaching method is passionate and organized to perfection! The most encouraging teacher I've ever had! She is fair, enthusiastic, and intelligent and it comes through.
She is quite intimidating at first but that is so she weeds out the people that are there for an easy lazy A. She is very thorough, helpful and caring. Lectures are very interesting and group work is easy. Read the texts required and think critically when responding, that's all it's not that complicated at all. She is wonderful at what she does.
Awesome!!! Prof.Sactjen is soo cool!! love her.. I dislike history, but she made it fun! if your in for some good laughs take her!
Great lecturing, informative, interestin; professor very helpful and approachable.
Really nice, approachable, will make you EARN your grade. Class is always interesting, you will definitely leave the class learning something. I would totally recommend her she's funny.
She is an excellent teacher! I worked hard for my A. I read and took notes and studied everyday so the test were never a problem. She gives quizzes every day which are extremely helpful because they make you read. We need more professors like her!
PARTICIPATION IS GRADED BIG TIME! Very interactive if you like to be involved with class and discussion. She's crazy! But in a good way :)
Professor Sachtjen is one of the best teachers EVER! If all Professors were as passionate, inspiring and brilliant as her, we would have figured out the Higgs boson along time ago and be flying around in spaceships. If you are prepared to work hard and turn your blob of a brain into a lean mean thinking machine take her class.
This is a good professor you learn, and she is a chill. There some extra credit don't rely on it do the reading, and turn in the essays revised and before time you can do it.
She's witty and hilarious which makes class fun. You can miss three classes and whatever assignments/quizzes you miss are excused. Some classes are replaced with EC events. Even if she might not agree with you, she still grades objectively. Overall, she's an awesome professor and an absolutely fabulous human being, I'd love to take her class again!
I loved Professor Sachtjen! Her class was so much work, but I learned a lot. She's a great professor and makes the material interesting by giving you material to read that isn't out of the book so you get a better sense of women's struggles and triumphs in history. Makes these figures more human instead of reading stuff directly out of a book.
Sachtjen's class is no joke - lots of reading & writing. Definitely for the hard worker. However, she has got to be the coolest, most helpful teacher ever. I took her ITV class in the summer and she did everything she could to help us get A's. All she asks is that you work hard. If you're willing to put in the effort, take her. I loved her class.
I heart Sachtjen! Her class is an easy A. All you need to do is read what’s assigned and think critically about the material. Just put in as much into learning as she puts into teaching and you’re golden. She is the essence of awesome!
She's really nice and easy going. Loves to make jokes. Her class is entertaining. Her lectures are like story-telling. It's fun. The best history class!!! I took her ITV class in summer. 2 midterms and several online quizzes. Do the quizzes& put sometime to study. Get the main concept.. and you will be fine!!
She's very nice and helpful. All you need to do is read the book and do all correct homework so that you will receive A in the end. I took in summer and i got A.. super~~ Nice! write more specific in your midterm and final.. you will kick aaaa your midterm and final.. :) Because of her, i love reading..
she's a nice teacher that she didnt piss me off just because i didnt read 16 pages of the book in 2 days. you will need to read 16-30+ pages in 2-5 days. ppl here says she's good, but consider they might hv gd Eng N unlike me, need to check 15+ unknown words for each page. her class is super hard and consider your ability be4 choose her. i drop it.
She is an awesome professor. Just make sure that your readings are read and that you pay attention to detail, it helps if your writing is not superb. She is extremely helpful and considerate. This course is demanding no doubt, but she takes effort into account.
Prof. Sachtjen will treat you like a child, she collects and grades binders, grades you on how you take notes, quizzes are often but not hard, tests are okay, but she gives you the feeling that if you don't agree with the ideas she proposes for discussion in class she will take it out on your grade. Not very professional and she is patronizing.
Professor Sachjten is a very good professor. She is very clear and funny. The class requires reading, and she focuses ON THE DETAILS. She allows cheat sheets though. Passing the class or getting good grade is all on you.
Prof. Sachtjen is fantastic & I highly recommend her! This class is definitely not easy, but if you are committed to doing the work, you'll do fine. A lot of reading... But it's a history class so that's expected. I look forward to taking her other classes! :)
Very good lecturer, funny and doesn't pick on people for class discussions. A lot of reading but easy, interesting novels. I would definitely take her again.
Loved her class! Take her if you love reading.
Took her a couple years ago. Honestly the class is straight forward and easy. Oh, and she's pretty cute too so that made it a lot easier to go to her class too.
Only 2 tests, fairly easy, and lets you use an index card full of notes while taking them. Gave extra credit that would add points to your test grade! Awesome woman! I don't even like history but would consider taking another history class with her!
Tracy Sachtjen is a very passionate and enthusiastic professor who clearly loves teaching history. She's a little harpy on feminist ideas, to an almost annoying degree, but she means well. And she's not THAT hot. I mean, she's a 10 for a Clippers fan, but that's not saying much.
Read the book take good notes and you will pass. the ITV course is a mess don't take it. She should tone down the feminist stuff.
Professor Sachtjen will give you a clear outline on everything that needs to be done on the first day of class. Quiz based on readings every class meeting. No actual homework besides a few handouts. Four essay style exams and the lowest grade is dropped. One research project that has to be delivered in front of the class. Participation is a must.
The professor was very clear in the class, the only problem was that i took the ITV class and it tends to be kinda hard if you are not a good time manager, and i know that is why i got the grade i got but overall she is a great and fun teacher.
Prof Sachtjen is great. Witty, intelligent... She's no softy though! Knows her stuff & wants you to know it too. This is what all college classes should be: original, fun, informative. Take this class if you want to learn to love women's history; DON'T take if all you want is an easy A. PS Commenting on her hotness is demeaning & moronic.
Looks like a model. She's really funny and just plain fun. You have to do some reading, but not too much. You get to learn about things that aren't usually covered in most classes, like Native Americans. She makes class really fun and she really gets you thinking.
Professor Satchjen is my FAVORITE! She's passionate about her subject & caused me to fall in love with women's history and strengthen the feminist in myself. She is very helpful. No Exams. Quizes every class on readings, reading journals and an essay. Take this class. She's witty and sassy and though very helpful, is no softy. Take this class!
Best professor and one of my favorites ever! She's interesting, humorous, strong, caring, intelligent, I have nothing negative to say about her! We need more professors like her! Strongly recommended!
Her workload is enormous and unnecessary. I do not recommend you take this class if you have other courses. She is "passionate", but irritating. She likes to tell "white lies" which just end up being aggravating. The day the first essay was due she said, "I lied, this is just a rough draft/peer review". She made me a nervous wreck.
I do not think this is a good class to register in, she gives tons of reading and many homeworks like research paper, 4 RRJs, midterm, final, with no mercy. this is a history class with 3 units in college not an English class to be overloaded with unnecessary homework. if you have some other classes I do not recommend this class for. you.
Best teacher I have ever had. She is very caring and very clear on what she is asking for. She pushed me and I succeeded. Thank you. "Put on a movie" if your ready to work for your grade then you will enjoy this class.
Instructor wasn't what other online instructors at PCC work load, too much reading, grades low, doesn't help you if you are disabled allowing extra time as other instructors at PCC who work with Disabled students office. This instructor is not very helpful and grades way below. I do not recommend.
Women in American Society was very interesting. Dr. Sachtjen presents the course very well and no, she is not one of those crazy feminists that someone mentioned in one of their reviews of her. I found her empowering, fair, and helpful. Her syllabus is clear - keep up with the reading and go to class! It's pretty simple.
I just rated Dr. Sachtjen and I did not see it post so here it is again. Women in American Society was very interesting and empowering, not the feminist that some on this website make her make her out to be. GO TO CLASS, READ! Ask for help if you need it. Her syllabus clear, study guide for exams and heavy reading. Excellent professor.
This class really changes my opinion toward women in our society. Take this class ONLY IF you want to learn it, and make sure you have plenty of time to read the materials. The workload is enormous and required you to read everything in order to get a good grade. The professor is really passionate, knowledgeable, and interesting.
She is awesome! I loved her, very funny, charming and sweet. I am glad I took her course, just make sure you read the book and you'll do fine.
Professor Sachtjen is AMAZING! This class is tough but if you honestly try you can do great. I thought I bombed the exams but ended up with an A. There is a lot of writing but she doesn't grade like an English teacher, she looks at the content. She is passionate, helpful and has an amazing sense of humor. By far the best professor I've had.
I had taken HIST 7A 2 before & HATED it! took the TVD Course with her in summer & She made it fun & easy! She is a awesome teacher! This class requires you to read a LOT but she is very helpful and reviews right before the test.No curve balls. Do the extra credit, participate, READ, & Keep your cell ph on silent & put away & you’ll do well!
She expects us to read every single little detail in the book. She doesn't focus on the main topics. Her discussion posts assignments on Canvas is absolutely pointless. What is the point when nobody bothers reading what other students post? Everyone would rather study by themselves. She gives too little EC. I highly recommend not to take her class.
Prof Sachtjen made my transition from high school to college such a great experience. I enjoyed going to her class, her lectures were very interesting. Whenever I have a question about anything she responds to her e-mails very quickly and is ready to give me great advice! She is such a great Professor. I will be taking her History 7A class!!!!
Her lectures are great, but her tests are really hard. You have to read the entire book and know it well because she does not put a lot of key terms on tests. The online practice tests have nothing to do with actual tests!!! Doing all online work & getting 100% is pretty easy & will up your grade. Study hard if you want an A!!
Professor Sachtjen is the professor to take history with. She is extremely knowledgeable in the field and is energetic about the topics. The books and articles assigned in the class are great reads, you WILL learn something useful. Take women's history, it is an exceptional class taught by an exceptional professor.
Just don't take her online. She expects everyone to know everything in the book. She takes the write-ups too seriously.
She is a tough grader, but she is fair. You will need to read all your subject matters. I would definitely take her again.
I took her TVD class in spring 2013, she is a hard grader and so rude to students. I still remember once how she treated one of my classmate. One of my classmates just turned in the queeze 5 minutes late, this professor just asked him to throw his test to the trash can. I will never recommend any student to take her class. She is EVIL.
I took her history 7A in 2013. She is rude to students and very feminism. I never had a proffessor so bad like her before. She is not helpful to students at all. You need to study every page of the book. You never know which question pops up. If you take her class, fasten your seat belt, your grade is going down like Fast and Furious.
She is a very tough grader. You need to study every page by yourself, and she is not helpful at all. Most importantly she doesn't respect the students. I wouldn't recommend taking her class.
Sachtjen is a great professor and is extremely energetic! Her lectures are always entertaining and the work she gives is straight forward. There is a lot of reading she assigns but it definitely isn't boring. One big research paper at the end of the semester and she gives pops quizzes!
I took Sachtjen's Online Hybrid History class and it was the perfect mix of challenging yet stimulating and very possible to ace. All you have to do is stay on top of the reading. She was clear and engaging as a lecturer and did everything she could to help us pass. Give a college effort and you'll get an A.
Taken ONLINE. Assignments mostly consist of discussions, quizzes (not very hard), and eportfolio. Read the directions and rubric for the Document Interpretations! Don't summarize and MAKE CONNECTIONS to the goings on of the era (causes and effects of the event, background). If you don't do good on these, your grade will suffer. May not be easy A
Sachtjen is funny, entertaining & energetic--even at 8AM! She starts every class with a song & makes the class clap along as she sings. There's a lot of reading, but they're not boring. The workload isn't much. Just 5 RRJs throughout the semester, 1 research paper, 1 test, 1 midterm, final. She doesn't allow students to use technology during class.
Great class! Loved walking in to class with awesome songs being blasted to wake your brain up! Sachtjen was hilarious and made the content interesting!! Tests are very easy too!!
Alight At first i though taking this class was pretty easy at first. but I was wrong when the grading comes for the assignments for online discussions they were really awful because no mater how hard you try it seems like you aren't able to get an grade that you expected, Grades hard and doesn't comment on what you do wrong. this is more like an e
This teacher is very good with her lectures, the homework and tests are super easy. Do the work and you will get at least a B. Showing up to class is a big thing. Also dont even bother bringing your phone into class. she has kicked people out for phones. Over all great teacher though. Funny morning songs almost every day
Professor Sachtjen is one of the best profs on campus! Starts off every class with a song which I personally throughly enjoyed and is super clear with her expectations. If you don't do the bare minimum of her requirement, you're not going to get a passing grade. She's very energetic, fun, and a fair grader.
Discussions are a big part of the course. Be sure to read the textbook as she requires you refer to it in these discussions. If you don't refer to the textbook, you're grade will be affected. You also must have an e-portfolio made at the end. Quizzes are easy. Typical online class, but isn't too bad.
Do Not take this class if you are lazy and want an easy A. There is a lot of reading and writing to do. Must respond to other student's work and must make an eportfolio as part of the final. Just do the work and you'll pass.
Prof. Sachtjen is the most organized professor I've had. She updates your grade online so you know how you're doing. She knows what she's doing & it shows in her lectures. I definitely learned a lot. There is a lot of reading to do. If she feels that you're not reading she will give pop quizzes. I definitely recommend you take any of her classes.
Beware of this Professor!
She is very negative, if you do a good job she will think you are getting help or you are cheating. She is a tough grader so make sure you read the book and make sure your grammar is 100% correct or else she will grade you down. This is not an easy A so be prepared to study and read.
Tough grader, she believes everyone is plagiarizing if they exceed. She has too much free time on her hands. Seemed more like an advanced English class. Not an easy class, worse class ever taken.
This is not an easy class and you have to work for it. I did bad on the first assignment and from that point on, I understood her expectations for the weekly document interpretations. Dont expect an easy A. She's also a UCI alumna, which is pretty dope.
I took her History 7A online. Shes a tough grader and not so organized. She accidentally dropped me because I have the same last name with another student. She didnt reply my messages in a timely manner or sometimes she ignored. She did not post the new module on time. The grading is not fair(90% writing assignments and 10% quizzes).
If you are looking for an easy class to satisfy your GE requirement for history, don't take her! This class was all over the place and very unorganized. She takes weeks to update grades. She never gave feedback on any assignments so you never knew why you would lose points. Just take this class with someone else and save yourself the stress.
I do NOT recommend taking her class as she not only requires you to buy a separate program for the class instead of using just using PCC Canvas, but also, assignments are due at early times and you will not be notified for them, so you have to keep an eye on all assignments on your own. I dropped as it was very overwhelming and unorganized.
I took this class in the summer because I needed to fulfill my History requirement and brooo she's a hard grader, it's not even fair sometimes (most times) This was one of my hardest classes I have taken at PCC. It felt like I was in an Adv. English course. It's passable but it's not a walk in the park
She was AWFUL!!! She rarely responded to my emails about my assignments and grades, even when I responded to her email about not passing the class. She sent that email before actually going in and grading my assignments. After she did her job my grade got boosted up 2 letter grades. She nearly gave me a panic attack for no reason.
This was my first online class due to COVID, a student had a question during zoom and she was rude to her in front of everyone. For a community college class she makes it seem like this is a Harvard class. For each week she assigned 3 quizzes, 10 mins only, 1 attempt, while 2 writing assignments but 3 questions for each. Do not take her!!!!
Sachtjen was nice as a person but a little disorganized. She made the final paper optional because of Covid stress which was nice. Everything is on globalyceum though so you have to work on that and Canvas which is annoying. Quizzes are always 10 pts but often had typos so there were no right answers because the question was wrong, so hard to take.
I thought her 8-week course was not too bad even though there's a lot of reading & writing. I dislike that you have to do the majority of your assignments on Globalyceum. Reading those long passages with no line breaks on that horrible, old-school interface was hard. Like you gave us a blurry map and you want me to analyze this thing in detail?
Straightforward schedule: 1 discussion post + reply and Globalyceum assignments due every Sunday. Quizzes are easy; CTRL+F the readings provided to look for your answers. <200 word written answer Qs don't require much work. Fair grader. She usually comments what she likes about your posts so you know what type of work she's looking for.
Professor Sachtjen was interesting enough to not put me to sleep, but for someone teaching a feminist class like Women in American Society, I would have expected her to be more open minded. Firstly, several times there were awkward situations for males about old injustices or mistreatment. Secondly, some females felt judged by her in their attitude
Would recommend 100% easy A, so sweet and helpful! Online quizzes and no midterm or final! :)
The professor is one of the best history teachers I have ever taken. Her class does require a lot of reading but other than that the class is simple.
I took this course for 8 weeks and it was easy for me. Professor Sachtjen did not give out any quizzes or exams. Follow the grading criteria that is asked of and you can pass the class with an A.
More or less here to tell you that the final was super easy (as of Spring 2022). Literally just had to bring in something to present and it didn't matter what as long as it had to do with women's history. Everyone got a 100% just for showing up. Not sure if she's still doing this. She's also understanding with personal issues. Great professor!
If you are taking this class for your GE or IGETC requirement, I highly advise not to take this professor and instead take a different one. She is an extremely harsh grader. After grading your assignments she does not state what you have done wrong or what you can improve upon, and if you send an email to clarify she takes forever to respond.
The work itself isn't too bad so long as you read the many things that she provides on one topic. The problem I have is she gave out these pop assignments that are void of any detail on how to do them properly. Therefore my A went to a F and when I reached out asking what specifically needed to be done I never got an answer even after a few tries.
Don't take Satchtjen's class. Unorganized. Stands behind her desk and reads from her notes without looking up. Grades based on pop quizzes (which you take a few minutes after swallowing 30-45 min of material, and she gets annoyed when you haven't memorized the exact date of something) and not on substantial assignments or work applicable to course.
Idk about her other classes, but don't take her HIST7A. I'm a hist maj and was really excited about her class but she has a bunch of mini quizzes that seem like make work versus actually helping you understand the material. I tried asking for her help but she told me I "needed to study." I wasn't asking for the answer! Not an approachable teacher.
don't wanna give her a bad rating just because her teaching style just isn't for me. blasts radio and sings a lot in class when I would appreciate a more professional lecture & actually focusing on material. LOT of pop quizzes. She's hilarious, but the energy was just too high and loud for me. Might work for some ppl, just know what you're in for.
I feel that maybe for my semester, it was a bit unorganized with the lectures were all over the place. I would say the class is easy, only a bit difficult for me since history isn't my strongest subject. The professor is very nice, and quizzes can be taken twice for a higher grade.
Prof. Sachtjen is cheerful and loves when people come in for office hours. She plays music and sings which is always fun, and is understanding about personal issues. I am immensely grateful for her grace, help, and kindness. As long as you read and take notes on the chapters and listen during the lectures, you should be all set :)
Professor Sachtjen is caring and kind. Her online 025B class is done entirely through Globalyceum with bi-weekly discussion threads on Canvas which allow for absorption of the material. The work-load is very manageable, and if you take her asynchronous class, there is no final exam, just a longer-than-usual discussion post. Take her if you can!
Dr. Sachtjen was so amazing. A very easy class but you definitely learn so much. She is very caring and wants you to do your best in her class. Her work consisted of quizzes and discussions very doable!
Prof Sachtjen's class is a lively one - she plays music and sings, making lectures engaging. While the workload can be heavy, doing the readings and taking notes will set you up for success. unstuck study proved a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
I took Professor Sachtjen online, she uses Globalyceum which is an online program to submit all assignments outside of discussion posts. She's very nice and when I did have questions she responded pretty quick with good feedback. Nothing else to say other than it was a pleasure.
Only assignments are through a different website but they are very easy to complete and you get a few tries. Occasionally a weekly discussion on what you learned and the final is just a 300 word discussion post. The assignments and readings were very interesting and if you need this class as a requirement I highly recommend.
Took her online course for spring semester. She uses an online website where you have to make a onetime payment for access. Also, all work is basically submitted through the website and then some discussion posts on canvas. grading criteria is very clear. also gives a generous number of extensions. very easy and manageable.
