Dr. Sherard is a great teacher. She is very articulate and carries herself very admirably. Her confidence exudes success and i enjoyed her class. It is tough though there is a lot of work. She is mega hot too... so good luck.

(online) She facilitates an online course that is very well organized with clear objectives- something that is not always easy to accomplish in the online format. Recommended.

The online course was great. She was a bit forgetfull but isn't everyone. Some reading but not too much. i would take her again in a heartbeat.

She helped a lot. I have a problem with pre-writing and she spent a lot of time helping me to outline and things. She explains exactly what she wants and doesn't leave things up to interpretation. I had her three times, I think that says a lot!

Great professor. Made me enjoy Eng 101 and taught me a lot of new techniques in writing sytle. Made the class very enjoyable and certainly doesn't put up with any BS in the classroom.

She is such an awesome and smart teacher. Makes class easy and fun. She sets deadlines for pre-writings, rough drafts ect.. and gives you a grade or comments on the work to ensure that you are actually working on your essay. It really helped me stop my procrastination. Would highly recommend her.

Her readings are for students with advanced comprehension. I enjoyed her selections, and feel she is a very aware of crucial current events which she is using to open thinking skills in her students. Had I stayed in her class, I could of learned many communication skills from her. Highly recomended.

She seemed to rub off negetively for many, often seeming snobby and disinterested. I for one liked her b/c she wasn't so personable- she just did her job fairly. The readings were always interesting, but seemed arbitrarily assigned and discussed solely on the surface. Daily quizzes were a pain, but easy and advantagous in keeping one's grade steady

Not the best professor i ever had. She is very impersonal and kid of difficult. The class was ok but i wouldn't take her again, i would take english with someone else.

You will improve your writing skills in this course. There is a TON of homework and weekly work to be expected in her online class. My main complaint is her final. It is an inaccurate representation of any Final, much less this course. The final was failed by most students in my class.

Talks a lot but about all the right stuff. This is the kind of teacher you feel deserves your respect and she does. She was a good teacher. The lectures are pretty boring at times but as a person she's really nice and will help you get through the course if you just ask her.

Took her for Intro To Poetry, and she rocks! She let the class be creative while also studying the terminology and famous poetry. Everything was discussed in groups, so we got to give our opinions on everything we read. We also got to write poems, got full credit just for doing it, and extra credit for reading it to the class! Tracy rules!

I really enjoyed Dr. Sherard's class. I don't have anything to say to those who had her online, I don't know why you would take an english course online anyway. In person, she was great. She helped me learn to write much longer papers than I was used to, and was very helpful with her comments on the essays. Overall a very good teacher

I had Dr. Sherard for English 102 online last semester and loved her class. She is hard but very fair. As long as you do the assignment and let her know early about your problems, she will be lenient. I would take Dr. Sherard again. If you think an online class easy, think again before taking her class. I learned a lot from her class.

I took this course online during winter intersession. It was quite rigorous, but I learned a lot. She organized the class very well. Everyone was required to participate and it made the class a lot more personal. I highly recommend to those who are willing to put in the effort. To those who want to breeze through, this professor is not for you.

Great class (African American Lit) and teacher! A lot of reading, but really good reading which was discussed in class. Daily reading quizzes, but they were not hard if you read the material. One essay, one presentation, midterm and final. I highly recommend Dr. Sherard if you enjoy reading and discussing literature!

She is a very good teacher. You will learn a lot and definitely improve your writing skills. She is somewhat of a tough grader and is VERY politically opinionated. You may have to suck up a little bit to her opinions, but you will definitely walk away a more capable writer.

This is a hard class. Lots and lots and lots of work. She cracks jokes pretty much nonstop, but she's the only one laughing in the end. Lots of work. Pretty much that's it. I wouldn't really recommend her.

She was WAY better than my 101 prof, Cheng-Levine, but a hard grader. Had her for 102 online. There was lots of work and quizzes, and she kept repeating things over and over again. Not too hard to get her a little angry. Seemed to talk down to us sometimes, but would try hard to answer questions. Recommended if you want to learn how to write well.

pretty straight-forward. i never had a problem figuring anything out. she gives you 2 reading logs per night (very easy). a total of 4 essays. the final is an essay, and i didnt read the book and i got a 98% on it. reasonable grading. she will help you when you need it. she cares about your grade, but you HAVE to put the work in. i hate english.

she was my first professor i ever had, i thought the class would be extremely hard, but it was a relatively fun class and she knows her stuff...she can get frustrated at times,bottom line just do the homework, pay attention and you will do fine...heck she still says hi to me when she sees me on campus & its been almost two years since i had her

She's pretty cool. Just show up, do your work, and don't be an idiot. Expects students to know basic writing skills, has normal standards for papers, attendance is crucial, as is a quick read through of homework.

I had this teacher for both Eng. 102 and Brit. Lit. II online, at the same time, and she was amazing! I learned so much, and I loved her classes. I am a Lit. major, so I was totally into the subjects. There is a lot of work though, so the class is not easy. I recommend her 100%. My favorite Eng. teacher ever!

This isn't the easiest online class in the world. You have to pay attention and REALLY follow directions carefully. She is a tough grader, kinda rude at times, but fair. You will not skate by without doing the work. Recommended if you want to challenge yourself, not necesarrily make a new friend.

A lot of people hate her b/c she's not lenient to those that slack off. She is incredibly intelligent with a doctorate degree in English. She's incredibly funny, completely aware of current day culture and has a mixed personality of a adult and a teenager. If you don't like to learn, don't take this class because its not easy, but you'll learn alot

She's very nice, but she pushes her liberal views onto students. I wish she would leave her political ideas at home. Besides that she's absolutely great and I loved having her as a teacher. She's a great person.

Brit lit II online over summer. Its alot of work but its a condensed summer class. As long as you do the work you should get a decent grade. yes its alot of writing but we're English majors!!! Thats expected!! Got a B w/minimal effort if your an over achiever who wont accept anything below an A def will have 2work hard otherwise ull be fine

This was her first time teaching the class and she did a great job. The class itself is something I loathe but she tried her best to keep the class modern and flexible. Make sure to find the niche that she requires for her essays and follow through to receive the best grades on all of them.

Mrs. Sherard is a total babe. The whole class was pretty much discussion and analyzing. She is a pretty hard grader when it comes to essays. She expects good grammar and strong arguments supported with evidence. It's pretty hard to get an A, unless you are a great writer. Its pretty much a guaranteed B if ya do the work. I got an A doe.

Very good instructor. Great feedback on work. Firm but fair with students. I learned plenty from her.

I took a hybrid class. Although I had my ups and downs with Professor Sherards grading system and assignments, she is an overall clear-cut teacher. Nothing Late is accepting and no extra credit. Even though sometimes my excuses were good enough, she graded my "late" assignments. Definitely NOT taking her for English 101 and do not recommend her.

Good teacher. Interesting class. I took the hybrid class. It was a bit confusing at first, but I got used to everything within in the first few weeks. If you work hard, you will get a good grade.

I really enjoyed taking Professor Sherard's english class online. She gives her students a calendar with all of the assignment due dates which gives you a clear idea of what to expect. She is a bit of a tough grader on the essays but her feedback is so helpful that I was able to improve. I preferred taking english online rather than in a classroom.

Sherard is an inspiring teacher. She makes you work for your grade, but you become a much better writer because of it.

book is very important for the discussion posts every week, as well as the essays throughout the semester. 4 essays in total, and just a final at the end. She gives out an assignment calendar, so it's very clear with due dates and what to expect. She's kind of rude tho. Will sass back if you email her more than once. Log in freq & you'll pass!

She's a really easy teacher as long as you do the reading and put time into the assignments given. There is a lot of reading involved but it's not difficult. Three tests and a quiz every class. She's funny and helpful when you ask questions. A somewhat easy grader.

Professor Sherard is easily one of the best professors at CoC. She's laid back but still engaging. I've taken away so much from this class and it wasn't labor intensive at all. It was the highlight of my semester and I hope to take another class with her soon!

I took FYE100 with Professor Sherard, and she is a great Professor. She is kind and caring, but only if you are respectful. As long as you put your part, an A in this class in easy.

I took this class online I also happen to take the fast paced version which was extremely hard. There was twice as much work per week we were writing essays almost every 10 school days. There were a few miscommunications because her instructions weren't clear but through emails it was solved. She may seem mean but she's really nice and caring.

She's a professor who cares about her students and gives them the opportunity to succeed in this course. Don't be lazy or procrastinate because there is a decent amount of work but doable! She also offered quite a bit of extra credit which helped me reach an A!

Dr. Sherard is genuinely caring and wants her students to succeed, but I would not recommend taking her online course. The workload is quite heavy, the assignment directions are unclear and confusing. Lastly, it can feel invasive how frequently she checks if students log into Canvas. Overall, taking her online course was a challenging experience.
