Prof. is really helpful and takes extra time to assit in essays. There is work and you must work for your grade. Not an impossible class though. I would def. take her. She really helps improve your writing skills. Shes also a really nice lady.
She is extremely helpful in improving your writing skills. She takes time to help students one-on-one and is also a really nice person. I would have no problem taking her again.
good teacher. very understanding. will let u redo almost every paper. lots of homework. essay due almost every week

Wonderful teacher!!! Nice, extremely helpful, will assist you to great lengths to help make something more clear!! Would take her class again!
Awesome English teacher!! Nice, smart, makes class interesting, and teaches you how to write a good paper. Can't slack off but she makes you not want to because she encourages good work. Wish I could take her for all my classes.
she likes to change her mind a lot
very helpful teacher, will accomodate students anytime. very nice and willing to lend a hand. lots of reading/writing, but it's doable work.
Team taught class, she's the sweet one. She has a genuine interest in learning, and will go to great lengths to make sure everyone always understands. She rewards your strengths and will try and help you improve your weaknesses. Very inoffensive, good, clean fun.
she is so sweet and helpful! classwork is easy, you know what is expected and curriculum is good. (a lot of essays!)
ONLY EXCEPTIONAL WRITERS GET AN A!!! no matter how hard you try and how much effort u put into the class u will only get a B! You have the ability to redue papers as many times as you like, but you have to wait for her to grade them everytime to get it back to redue it, she is somewhat slow on handing papers back! DO NOT TAKE HER.
Excellent teacher! A's are rare in her class, but if you revise your papers like she advises you too, your grade will definitely go up! Not the sort of class you can whip out an essay last minute, effort is required, but your writing will improve!
Very good teacher, loves teaching and English, fun teacher. Alot of group talking. If you do the work it is easy to pass the class.
a great teacher! she is interesting, professional, helpful, and very fair. I would definitely take her again!
I was disappointed overall with this class. What we did in this class I could have done on my own at home. She did not bring any context or help us on any kind of analysis. Her grading is tougher then any other professor I've had. Reading briefs for every reading, 3 papers, group poetry presentation, and you have to be discussion leader one day.
Very good teacher, loves teaching. All i have to say is Time Management. You had to read a book in her class, and do a journal, and essays. She lets you revise, revise, revise, to get a higher grade which i thought was great! Will take another class by her!
Good teacher, time management is important if you tend to procrastinate. Easy class, just be organized in your writings and do the assignments. Also, attendance will affect your grade, if she thinks you are trying by showing up she will give you the benefit of the doubt in grading.
One of the best English teachers I've ever had. If you do what she asks you do well. It is not difficult if you try and discuss your writing with her. She does give A's, just to those that work for it. Very clear and explanatory - you learn a lot. If you don't want to work don't take her.
DO NOT TAKE HER 4 HOUR LONG CLASS!!!!!! It's just too long. It's rediculous. What she does in 4 hours, could easily be done in 1...but is dragged out.
She is such a good teacher. She's very easy to get a long with and helps you whenever you need it. She will make the two hours go by very quickly and is always there to help. She wants everyone in her class to do well. SHE IS AMAZING SO TAKE HER!!!
Tracy is very sweet and caring about her students...she will help you whenever you need and loves to teach. awesome teacher.
Tracy is really nice and helpfull, she's there when ever you need her and helps you comprhend what you don't understand.
She is so helpful, i loved her class. I took the 4 hour class, its a little long but she makes the time go by quickly. She's one of the most down to earth teachers and is really understanding.
very sweet and if you do the work you will pass. journal writings are a must. besides some couple page essays, there is one 7 page research paper... ugh!
The most fulfilling class I have ever taken at Moorpark. She is a wonderful teacher who believes in her students. She is approachable, intelligent, and very helpful. Take her class with an open mind and you will learn a lot about yourself and the arts.
Verry helpful, want to see her students succed, loves teaching, very nice, good sense of humor, limited textbook use, BEST ENGLISHEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD including elementary school, middle school, and high school. You must TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
hardest teacher on campus. no time management.only take her if u want to end up getting a C in her class.
Instructor makes frequent grammatical errors despite having an English doctorate. Course curriculum is dumbed down to levels characteristic of elementary schools. Writing prompts are vapid. This professor is more rote than reason, and is not recommended for any student with a legitimate interest in pursuing a career related to American English.
One 7 page research paper and a couple 3-4 page essays due. Long and labourious if your not a writer. No tests. Must make a journal of notes though. The more journal notes you have the better grade on the journal you get. Not an easy A, she barely gives A's. If you try, then you will at least get a B or C, but effort must be there for sure.
She was by far the best English teacher I have ever had. She was very down to earth, very understanding. Is always willing you help you out and explain things more in depth, all you have to do is ask. If I could take her class again I would. I highly recommend taking her class.
Mediocre at times but not bad.
i used to hate english till i was in her class. she is very clear on what she wants from you and also very helpful. four easy essays and a couple inclass ones. she hepls and lets you revise essays as long as you want. easy A if you do the work. if i could i would take her again!!!!!!!!
Tracy graded all of my Humanities papers and she always gave me A's. Even on papers I thought were terrible.
Tracy's class, which she taught while Jeff Baker was away, was a joy to be in. She sparked a real passion in me for American literature. She assigned only a few papers, and none of them were difficult or unclear. She's also a great part of the Moorpark Review Literary Magazine course. Can't recommend enough!
Tracy is one of the best english teachers I have ever had! She genuinely cares about her student's opinions and is always available during office hours to chat about essays. The class requires you to write 3 essay, a research paper, and 2 in class essays. Tracy is not exactly an easy grader but allows revisions on most papers. Highly recommended!
She wants her students to succeed. Very knowledgeable. She hardly gives As on anything though. You can ask her anything, she will never make you feel stupid. She has alot of patience. I swear there was this annoying kid in my class that everybody wanted to strangle, he had a comment for everything, but she tolerated him.
she is a really great person and extremely friendly and helpful. I took it because I felt like I wasn't a very strong writer but this class really didn't help me. If you feel the same way take the IGTCE English class instead if you really think you need this class take it you will do well in the class because it is really easy!
Tracy is really sweet, but is tough on grading. She really wants her students to do well. Over all in class I've done 4 take home essays, and 4 in-class essays. She'll let your revise all your papers as much as you want to get a better grade. I love that about her.
Good professor and kept us writing. She needs to be teaching upper division though. If she gets impatient with the class, the grading shows it. This teacher though, I give her credit, she's always willing to help when asked.
if waitlisted wont add. Becasue she has to read to many papers enough said
She is super nice and always willing to help. There is a lot of reading and writing but nothing too hard. She offers extra credit too.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! I can't say how she is in an actual classroom, but she doesn't teach anything to her online class! She simply gives assignments with minimal instructions and expects you to know how to do them. The few times I emailed her, she only responded to half the questions I asked. Her online class doesn't seem important to her
Very eager to teach, excellent teacher. She has quality to teach upper level. She is always available to help, answers appropriate emails and considers sick and emergency incidents.
Very helpful whenever I emailed her. I found the online website easy to navigate and she seems very nice. Most of the assignments are pretty easy if you keep up with them. She ended up rounding my grade to a C when I should have had a D. I slacked off in the beginning and I deserved the D but she was nice enough to give me a passing grade.
Absolutely terrible. She grades you not based on your writing ability, but on your ethnicity. If you write like a complete fool from the beginning she will expect nothing better and give you A's the whole time, because you sucked. Work hard, and your penalized by getting docked points for minute errors, because suddenly she expects excellence.
You negative people are so funny. "She such a tough teacher, boo hoo" Which, roughly translated, means "she actually made me work." Tennenhouse is awesome! She is not only passionate about English, but takes extra care to set her students up for success in every aspect of the Moorpark College experience.
LOVE HER
Taking an online class can definitely be hard, but she was so nice about it! Although she definitely made you work, she was supportive and helpful every step of the way. She really wanted to help you succeed!
Easy class, take her! 3 essays. Class is not mandatory but go! she grades easy, and lets you redo the essays as many times as you need.
WOW!!! Tracy seriously made me LOVE English!! I hated writing before I took her class, but this woman is just so passionate about what she does. She teaches the beauty of simplicity and creativity in writing. She lets you redo your papers and helps you with innovative techniques! Write from the heart and you will definitely get an A!
In class she's great! But this year I took her online course and it was miserable! She is very confusing and not timly. Take in class, not online
She made me switch to Journalism major! She is incredible. Very helpful and wants her students to learn no matter what it takes. I recommend her to any students who need that extra push for English! So happy to have taken her class!
I had her for two semesters, she is a great teacher. Actually wants her students to learn and enjoy the subject. Will gladly help if you ask. If you don't buy the textbooks, you'll survive as long as you get it from the library, Internet, share, etc. Highly recommend.
Before I took this class, I didn't like English at all. I thought I was a terrible writer, until Tennenhouse challenged me. This class required a lot of hard work, but it was the best class I have taken so far. I highly suggest that you take her class!
I put in so much extra effort, did all the assignments and nothing to show for it. She rounded grades up that did not deserve it but did not do that for the B+ student. She has some weird thing about giving an A to any English speaking native. I'd say pass on this class if you have a high GPA she will attack it. I hate her for messing my GPA up. :)
I took english mo1ah with Mrs. Tennenhouse also. Before taking her class, I hated english and was a horrible writer. This class was not easy, but everything she taught us is helpful for the future. Mrs. Tennenhouse is my favorite teacher at Moorpark and I HIGHLY recommend taking her class!
Dr. Tennenhouse is the type of professor that wants her students to succeed. The class is ALOT of work, but she is very thorough with feedback for every draft and final essay. I never knew I liked writing until I took her class. I hope she knows what an impact she makes.
Great teacher overall. Nice, professional, reply and answered your question's as best she can.
She usually teaches the online classes, so I took a one night a week class, four hours long. She loves the course and is down to earth. She wants you to pass with the best grade you can have. She'll change an assignment if the class doesn't want to do it.
Not worth taking. Go to the writing center and have her help you in other classes. This teacher hates giving A's. May as well not try and maybe you will gbetr grade out of sympathy, happened in my class. She is nice but don't bother taking her class. Unless you like substandard grading and teaching.
Make sure you show up, participation counts. She is probably the most helpful professor I've ever had. She inspires everyone to do their best and if you put your best into the class, it would make your experience in the class so much better. Our class was very close thanks to Tracy's involvement with us.
Tracy is very strong person and has a really good attitude. She is honest about what is expected in you taking any future classes that involve writing so she a tough grader. She does have grace and helps you when you need it. She works at writing center so having that resource is helpful in your development. Take her class!
Great professor for people transitioning from high school or coming back from a break. Clear and concise
Dr. Tennenhouse is very helpful but no extra credit. Do all the essays, I think there are about 5 of them. Make sure you use right formatting, citations, etc. If you need help she will definitely help you. Overall, great professor.
Tough grader. Loved this honors class. She is such a nice woman who will help when needed just show that you're interested. Gives out some extra credit so watch out for it. Would definitely take again.
Took her M01A class and loved it! She's so helpful and really wants her students to do well! She gives great feedback and is really clear with what the assignments are. So happy I took her English class!
Very sincere, I would take her class again. You could easily get an A in her class if you work for it. She let's you revise essays and gives many extra credit opportunities.
I took her online class. There is an essay pretty much every week, but she is an easy grader if you have what she asked for. There was a timed essay and a reading log on the book the timed essay was about. She did not say what the timed essay was about so all the quotes I had did not prepare me for it. Overall, there is a lot of work in her class.
There was a lot of essays. Probably one every week.
Best English teacher I could've gotten for my first semester. She's sociable and approachable and always at her office when she doesn't have class because she runs the Writing center. 3-4 essays and 1 research paper, but she lets you correct your essays for a higher score. Her lectures are thought provoking so make sure to listen.
BEWARE of Tennenhouse. I took her English M01B class online and worked my butt off to get an A. There is a lot of work every week (reading, reading log, participating in discussions) plus a short story essay, poetry essay, novel essay and a research paper. She will not grade based off the rubric, but how she feels the essay could have been better.
Amazing professor. Took English M01AH and easily earned an A. Grades essays based on your writing ability/improvements rather than requirements. You can redo all the essays for a higher grade and your lower grade won't affect you. Honors students read two novels and they're both fun, easy reads. Super easy class, amazing and inspiring professor.
Sweetest Teacher! Loved her and is super laid back. You will have lots of reading and papers but they end up being enjoyable. She offers a lot of help inside and outside class. Super understanding of you need to miss class. Her honors and regular M01B class are mixed together. Honors students just have to read an extra book not much of a difference
By far the best teacher I have ever had for English. Through out the semester there was a total of 5 essays, 3 are 3-5 pages, 1 is timed, and the last is a 7-10 page research paper. There was some reading on the side nothing major. Everything was clear and simple. Extremely recommend the online class.
I am so mad I wasted my time taking her. If she was the last teacher on campus I would rather get my own teaching license and teach myself. Don't take her, she didn't even understand what she was doing.
Easily one of the best professors at MC. I was in both her M01A and M01B Honors classes, and my writing improved significantly. She is a tough grader, but you can rewrite essays as many times as you like and keep the better grade. She also accepts late work for full credit. You have to work for it, but if you put in the effort this is a great class
This teacher was very helpful and was easy to work with. I would recommend her English classes M01A, M01B. She knows what she's doing.
She is very understanding and is such a nice person I would take her again no problem.
She is not too effective as a teacher but the way she grades will make you improve and she is more than available for help. Very sweet and accommodating. Do the work and get her help so you will do well on essays. Overall a very easy class.
If you're having difficulties with citing, the usage of commas & semicolons, MLA format and composing an essay then u should take her! We had to read a book and do a reading log, 5 essays, 2 projects (the other one was a presentation) & weekly discussions online. Her class was easy, you just need to check your canvas often.
She grades essays fairly. Be careful with run-ons but you can rewrite essays for a better grade. She accepts late works online and still gives you full credit except for the homeworks and essays that are due in class and the final essay that's due online. Overall, it was an awesome and fun class; easy A, you just have to earn it.
Anyone new to Moorpark College should take her ENGL M02. She will make sure you gain a basic sense of writing (Formatting, MLA, Descriptive writing, punctuation, etc). She will also go out of her way to introduce you to the campus and force group discussions. Don't be afraid to ask her questions! She is more than willing to help you succeed.
Professor Tennenhouse was so incredibly understanding with my panic disorder and anxiety issues and let me turn in some of my assignments late. All of the assignments were easy to understand as well. There is a research paper at the end of the class for your final rather than a test, which had the grading criteria clearly set up.
TAKE HER NOW. Don't even look at the other profs. Best one at Moorpark for any class she offers. You will get an A if you do the homework, submit papers on time, and fix the things she says and re-submit. She is for sure the nicest teacher I've ever had. I always looked forward to going b/c she really cares about her students passing and learning.
I am 41 and haven't taken an English class since 1996. Tracy was extremely positive, offered precise feedback, and was very helpful. Her support helped motivate me to push through all of the papers. Syllabus is clear and easy to follow. The course included 2 books for reading and both were great reads. Highly recommended professor!
Professor Tennenhouse was amazing. She gives a lot of homework and there is an essay pretty much every week but she is a fair grader. She gives very good feedback and helps you if you ask. Overall this was a good class.
I loved Professor Tracy. She is honestly so great and caring especially during these COVID-19 times. It was completely online, I went to her office hours and she was great, and I also went to tutoring at the writing center. Just make sure you go to office hours and go to tutoring! It was a great class. I 100% recommend.
She gives a lot of homework but it's because it helps you. She doesn't give pointless assignments. She cares about you and wants to help you succeed. She makes you work for your grade but because she wants you to reach your full potential as a writer/student. If you want a professor that challenges you for the better, take her. :) She's amazing.
She gives a lot of homework but honestly that will save you when you go to write your essays which 3 papers are 3-5 pages and 1 is 7-10 pages. Always willing to help and makes lectures a lot more interesting. Highly recommend this professor especially if you are like me and struggle in writing.
There is a good amount of work but it's to benefit you. She really wants you to understand what you're learning and is willing to help. Two 3-5page essays, one timed essay (grades easy), and one 7-10 page research paper (don't be intimidated). When I got stuck she was always there to help me. Read one book, lots of short stories. Interesting class!
Amazing Professor. Took her online course during COVID and was great. Not too much homework and gives good feedback on your essays. I believe there was 3 essays in total, kinda long in terms of length but gives plenty of time to work on them. Responds to emails fast and is super kind and caring.
Please if you have the opportunity take any of her classes! Not only is she a really great teacher and provides excellent feedback, she is so kind and caring. You can genuinely tell she loves teaching and loves her students. I especially loved that all the work she assigns you helps you a lot with the papers there was no busy work.
In my experience Tennenhouse was an awesome professor. She is very flexible, understanding, and in my opinion not a very hard grader. She gives a lot of ten-point assignments that aren't super hard which can help bump up a grade but it's a little hefty. Her topics are unique which made the class fun. We did 4 essays total: one timed.
Professor Tennenhouse is incredible! I took her two semesters in a row for different english classes and she changed the way I understand writing in the absolute best way. I loved this class
Professor Tennenhouse is a proponent of growth mindset so effort is rewarded! Her teaching style is relaxed and she loves to collaborate with students. Assignments are big picture oriented so she won't mark you down mercilessly for minor spelling or grammatical errors. Overall flexible, compassionate, and bubbly. This class was a ton of fun!
I'm not gonna lie, anatomy is HARD but Tracy has a fun and laid back teaching style. There's test every few chapters but you can turn in all your homework from them on the day of the test. The books are expensive so be ready to spend around 250 & up but she's worth it. You can leave class when you finish your work.
Fairly easy class, be ready to do a lot of writing. The only thing to be mindful of is her canvas is pretty confusing to navigate, she doesn't set it up by the typical weekly modules so it's easy to miss assignments. Other than that I like her and recommend her to people not strong in their english studies!
Professor Tennenhouse is such a wonderful teacher. She is very helpful and willing to help clarify any confusion. She care about her students and makes everyone fell welcomed. She takes the time to learn everyones name which many professors don't. She is very clear with all of her assignments and gives amazing feedback. Defiantly take her class.
Prof T was average, not the best but not the worst. Workload was manageable. I don't recommend taking her class if you're not a strong writer though. Although this was a beginner's class, she holds high standards for her students. Putting that aside she's a nice person, it's just difficult if your writing skills are rusty.
Is the best english professor. She is super dedicated to making sure her students become better at writing, goes out of her way to help. Easy class, but I have learned so much. The more involved you are in her class the easier it is and the more you learn. If you are not a strong writer take her class and you will leave her class more confident.
TAKE HER Amazing teacher, loves to care for her students, takes time to explain everything. You learn so much in her class. If you are not a good writer take her class and you will learn so much. Makes class fun, nothing is boring.
Easy Summer English class if you want to get your credits out of the way. There's only 2 assignments/week, maybe 4 on the harder weeks, but each assignment is super easy/quick. She wants you to succeed and I only had to write 2 essays, 1 about why you want to major in what you want to major in and the other is a research essay on anything you want.
I took Eng MO1A summer class with this professor and I absolutely loved it. She is very caring about your writing not just grades and deadlines. two papers, one 3 page narrative essay and one 5-7 research essay. Just go with her instruction and turn in the assignment and you'll get an A easily.
Very kind teacher and cares about her students. Good for learning on how to write multipage essays and helpful for college application. Good responses from her frequently.
AMAZING ENGLISH PROFESSOR! Makes very straightforward and walks you through all projects and essays step by step. Built in tutoring time and time in class to write. VERY collaborative with the class but that's what made it the most fun so meet the people around you!! Loved this class.
I would give Tennehouse a 3.75. She was nice and if you made sure to ask clear questions and for feedback, it would be given, but I didn't learn much about analysis and mostly refined writing skills I already had. If you need help organizing yourself when you write, this is your class, if you have a system, don't take her class. So much homework.
This woman is what made me love English again. She teaches her students to be confident in their writing and gives excellent feedback. 10000/10 recommend taking her if possible as she is superb. She even offers extra credit to balance out the grade. Her lectures are interesting and engaging and her writing prompts made me want to write my papers.
very solid class
I struggled with English classes in high school, even failing one, and I had to drop my previous attempt at ENGL M01A, but this professor is fair and she will teach you to enjoy reading and writing. She had a personal narrative essay and a research essay in which you explored career options based on the PNE. 10/10 recommend.
Tennehouse is a caring professor who makes the class engaging. While the workload is heavy, the assignments really help improve writing skills. Using unstuckstudy and the free textbook made studying more efficient. Overall, an excellent class for honing analytical and organizational abilities.
Professor Tennenhouse clearly loves her job. She gives full credit for late work up to seven days however beware of procrastination. She is understanding of personal circumstances. Classes are engaging. However the reading logs are killer busy work at least to me. The class was very informational and interesting. Definitely take her!
Took her for both M01AH and M01BH, she's an awesome teacher. She breaks every topic into bite-size pieces which makes it really easy to stay on track. She gives lots of room for improvement and her lessons are genuinely interesting. Lots of fun activities.
Professor Tennenhouse is the nicest teacher ever. She is highly invested in the well-being of her students and offers so many resources to help you succeed in the class! We did three essays, and she gave great feedback and gave us so much time to finish each essay. Only gave about 3 hours a week of work. I highly recommend any class she teaches!
