I just finished her summer online class with an A, I loved this teachers comments, and ideas, however I must say this is one of the hardest courses I have ever taken. I highly recommend this teacher, but don't expect an EASY A, it won't happen unless you put countless hours into your essays, and have an academic proofread your work.

Totally in love with this class. Assignments are related to essays and timed writings. The timed writings aren't hard, and it's easy. Though there are a lot of readings assigned, I enjoy them very much as she knows how to choose the materials that won't bore students. Highly Recommend!

I love Tracy! She is such a great professor and very helpful when you ask for it! Although she isn't exactly easy, you'll definately learn in her class. She has this warmth in her voice and this attitude that just makes your day so much better when you talk to her. She is nice and very clear when she goes over instructions. There are a lot of quizzes, but they are very easy if you do the reading or homework. She is probably the best prof I ever had!

Very nice teacher. She's helpful as long as you make the effort to meet her during ELC hours, however, she is ALWAYS swamped with students, so be prepared to wait for 30 minutes. Her class is not hard, but definitely challenging.

This is one of my favorite college classes so far. She is able to make the class interesting, even when we are discussing something boring. The homework load can be rather heavy sometimes, but there are no surprises. She is helpful, humorous, and definitely good looking. I'd recommend her. Just be sure to keep on top of the homework!

She is such a nice teacher and really helpful. The class is hard if you don't study what she assigns you to do so, but if you do all your work, you will get a good grade. Attendance is very important in this class and if you don't miss more then 2 days, you don't have to give the final. I got an A :)

Tracy's 101C is tougher than 101B. You really need to put efforts to work for your grade. She is super helpful. Ask for help if you have come across any questions.

I took this class online. It was really fun! If you do all the work, you'll get an A. About 3-5 essays, send them to a tutor and done! However, it's really easy to procrastinate, so start work early. Her comments are really kind as well!

I am currently in her online class for Engl 101B. I can easily tell you that this is definitely the best 101B teacher you can take. She not only is fairly easy (if you are a good student) but you don't have to read tons and she grades well. It will take some getting used to for her procedure but she's right that you'll get used to it. I recommend!!

You don't learn anything in her class, its all about discussions, so be sure to participate a lot. She also a slow grader and will return your graded work towards the end of the semester... so take her if you don't mind your work returned to you three weeks later. Other than that, she great instructure

I don't understand why people keep saying her classes are hard. Yes, she is a tough grader, but it's College English level; of course you need to write a good paper to pass the class. I seldom write a comment regarding to the classes that I have taken, but I decided to write a comment regarding to my 101B class. This is a wonderful class! I enjoyed the reading assigned by Tracy a lot. She's a very nice lady, and she's willing to help her students. Moreover, she is open to ideas. Easy A if you pay attention to what you wrote.

It's not easy to take her class, she will give out a lot of homework every time. But it's worthy. My advice is, if you want to take an easy class, skip hers; if you want to learn something, you can miss her. And actually, if you finish her homework and be in class everyday, it's not that hard.

I haven't taken a class with her, but I have recieved help from her, as she is a lab instrcutor in the English Learning Center. She is a really nice professor, who is willing to help you in anyway she can in the lab. If you ever need help in English, visit her when she is in scheduled to be in the lab. I heard her classes are quite hard, so GL! :)

This was the most fun class I've ever taken! The novel she assigned was extremely interesting and didn't feel like an assigned novel at all. She does require you to interact on Blackboard actively but the class was pretty fun and everyone was extremely helpful. The whole class just had a good vibe to it. Also, her assignments are pretty creative :)

She's a tough professor and is known to be one, however she is a good one. She does assign a lot of work, but you will learn so much by taking her class. She is also very strict when it comes to attendance and plagiarism so beware of that. There is daily hw assignments, lots of reading and vocabulary and some tests and even papers. Overall tough!!!

Her 101B online class was tough but doable. I got an A but had to work hard for it b/c she does assign a lot of work. There were 3 essays 4-6 pgs. Tip: On the first essay make sure you pick a topic is "arguable" meaning that people can disagree with you, or you'll lose points like me. This was not clear in the instructions IMO. Good class overall.

Virgil's online course is tough as you have to be self deciplined to do well. She lets you know everything in the beginning and then it's on you to get the work done, there is a lot of work required. It's not an easy online class, but if you try you can pass. You gotta be able to write well and write a good well written essay. Grammar and content!!

By far the best professor I have taken at Ohlone. The class is very straightforward; she helps any students who are having a hard time. The assignments are fairly simple but I do feel like I actually learned a lot from her class. Because of her I have got back into reading again. I am excited to take her ENGL-101B & C class next semester!

Tracy Virgil is one of the best teachers I have taken here at Ohlone! She is very helpful and loves to talk to her students. She is very strict with attendance and plagiarism so be careful! Tracy is an amazing teacher who always knows how to start up a discussion. She involves all of her students in activities, but expect weekly vocab quizzes and 40 pages of reading a week. If you pay attention, she's really funny, but she can get pretty strict on phones and talking in class.

Having already taken 101A and C, this class was a total breeze. If you know how to form a basic argument in MLA structure you shouldn't have a problem with this class. I waitlisted this class to get Virgil & I was not disappointed. She grades pretty generously on all assignments. Just be very sure to fully complete weekly assignments & discussions.

She is a very good professor, she is tough, but provides you with amazing feedback so you will learn a ton. If you want to learn, this is the class for you, it may be an online course, but it's certainly a good one. There is a lot of reading and writing. but it's good reading that you will for sure enjoy. She writes extensive comments, fills out a rubric, gives work back quickly, and responds to emails immediately. We had the student that keeps complaining in 101c below in our class and that person can barely write a sentence correctly so it's pretty obvious where the fault lies. Haha!

I took her online 101B class and it was awesome. She is very straight forward with what she wants and the workload was manageable. A somewhat tough grader, but as long as you do all the reading she assigns and push yourself on all the papers you'll be fine.

Professor Virgil is great! I've taken two classes with her and received an A in both. Word to the wise, proofread everything! Her assignments often include peer reviewing, which personally I disliked, but can be helpful. She is also very tentative to student needs. Don't be afraid to email her, she's extremely friendly.

Not sure why people complain about her 101B/C classes. Going to her office hours and let her look at your essay before submission. She will tell you what needs to be improved/fixed. The comments are really constructive if you go talk to her. Yes, a lot of work, but what are you expecting? It's College Level English and online class.

I had a very enjoyable time in the class. It is a writing heavy class, and I am not even a big fan of writing. She gives a lot of creative liberty on the topics you write about, and is very helpful when you request it. RESEARCH IS IMPORTANT! If you show that you actually know what you're talking about you will do fine! Very friendly and helpful.

Professor Virgil has a very clear grading system online for 101B. 2 discussion posts per week and you only have assignments due on 2 days out of the entire week. Quizzes are unlimited attempts so that's easy. Essays are a bit more critical so do your best on those. She is pretty sweet and caring so I recommend taking her for an online course.

Took the online late start class (8 weeks) and it was very clear from the start. She outlines when and what assignments are due. Weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts and discussions. The condensed course was doable so you should have plenty of time in the regular course. She is a very nice and caring professor. Also, very fair grader.

I took the fast paced 8 week course, very organized online course. Material is due thurs & sunday nights, quizzes are unlimited attempts and discussions are straight forward. The 3 essays are more critical and require more work. She's really nice and caring. Also have to read a book, the short readings out of the book are also very fun to read.

One of the best English professors I've had. I went to office hours once and she was very kind and helpful. You can also tell how much she cares in her comments. There is no extra credit or re-writes in her class so make sure you do your papers right and good the first time. Her grading gets a little harder as time goes on.

I took this late start class online, and I am so happy I did. I usually hate english, but she made me enjoy writing essays and excited to do the homework. She gives great feedback and pretty much gives you 10/10 on all small writing assignments. It wasn't too much work, but also wasn't a light load either. I would def take her again!!

Took this class over the summer. She basically takes a semester course and jams it into a summer term, so it's a lot of work. Essentially, you write about 1-2 pages every 2 days. She assigns a lot of reading, what you choose do to with that is up to you. Very nice professor, leaves good, personal feedback. Glad I had her as a professor!

Professor Virgil is a super great professor! She is very sensitive to the students in our class that are ESL, and gives about 1-2 discussions a week plus a short writing assignment(also two some weeks). It was an easy class, and her feedback is really good and she really challenges you to improve your writing.

But if you put the time in, the class shouldn't be so hard. You can tell she really cares about her students. If you have an issue don't be afraid to contact her.

Set up the class to space out deadlines to help students make progress for essays (deadlines for ideas, outline, rough + final draft), plus feedback from others before due. Most assignments (discussions, short writing assignments) are graded on completion; rest are quizzes or graded on rubric.

Amazing. Had her for 101A and struggled, but 101C is totally different. I appreciate the clear outline of what we have to do, as well as the resources she provides to get people additional help. Easy to talk to. Also the papers are personalized and somewhat easy to write as long as you're willing to put in the work.

Two timed writings, three papers (one of which endorses the use of ChatGPT), manageable reading quizzes and discussions along the way. Had to record a video introduction early on for online which made me feel anxious but she's pretty understanding. Gives feedback in the form of audio files which is really good. The class was highly manageable overall. The assignments consisted of weekly discussion posts, writing assignments, quizzes, 2 timed essays, and 3 major papers. Definitely take Professor Virgil if you're looking for an excellent asynchronous class! She provided many different prompts to choose from, which made the writing process enjoyable.

I took Prof. Virgil for 101B and C and she was amazing. It was an asynch class but she was very encouraging and gave good audio feedback on essays. If you follow the rubric and instructions, the 3 papers per semester are not very difficult. Weekly reading quizzes, class discussions and assignments. Very open with outside class matters. Easy professor, take her if you want a good grade. Doesn't accept late work, but you do not have much work itself in this class. Three papers in the class that you get three weeks each to work on; the first two papers are something like 4-5 pages, while the final paper (no exam!) is 7 pages long. Easy grader, gives good feedback, just do the work.

Professor Virgil's class has a heavy writing load, but the feedback is excellent. unstuck study and the textbook were helpful for staying on top of the assignments. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.

I was concerned going into this class since I usually struggle with English, but Virgil's detailed feedback and clear instruction for essays is what helped me do well. The major assignments are three essays and two timed essays that make up half your grade, but if you take the essay drafts seriously and listen to feedback, you should be fine.
