Material is tough, but is made clear and understandable by Prof. Gibbs. He is extremely funny and relates hilarious stories with the subject material. The way he grades is great, you always know where you stand in the class.

dr. gibbs is not an easy teacher, but like the other person said, you know exactly where you stand and he is there for you. He is not a teacher that cares about himself. He is honestly there to help the students. He grades and gives back tests in 1 day

great class, although there is a lot to it. lots of reading and understanding concepts/definitions. the fact that there wasn't a paper in the course really helped.

i really enjoyed this class and dr. gibbs' teaching structure. everything is based on points, so you know exactly where you are in the class. the paper isn't entirely easy- but is manageable. i recommend this course to anyone interested in psychology as you will learn a lot about life, and yourself.

The class was great...even though we got off topic quite a bit. Lectures were interesting and I was never bored. If you want a challenge and are up for taking a look at your own personality this class is awesome...just be prepared to come out thinking differently about yourself

I have his class EARLY in the morning, but I'm not sleepy in the slightest while listening to his lectures. I love how he explains things. He even goes so far as to use physical actions (such as expressive faces) to get his point across. If you need to take psych take him. He is not easy though.

Dr. Gibbs is the man, plain and simple. His stories always entertain and he can always make you crack a smile. The class consists of 5 tests and he tries his best to make you understand. His stories about traveling through Europe are the best (especially the car crash). Ask him about it sometime!

I had him for both physiological and abnormal psych and LOVED it! Whenever anyone asks me about which professors I recommend taking, his name always comes up. I wasn't going to major in psych, but his classes made me want to explore that option. He's nothing short of amazing as a professor and person. Just do the reading, etc. and you'll be fine.

Dr. Gibbs was an amazing professor. If you were having a bad day his presence would make it better. His humor is great, not forced like most professors. His class is a bit challenging, but if you PAY ATTENTION, you will be just fine. He is HOT. Did I mention he was HOT. He's given me a prospective on life that I wouldn'tve received elsewhere.

What can I say about Travis Gibbs, he is the best, best, best teacher on RCC MV Campus. I have actually learned a few things that I can apply to my everyday life as well as for my nursing major. I have taken 4 of his 5 classes and will take the last one next semester. Thank you Dr.Gibbs.

Dr. Gibbs is the best Psy teacher. Go to class take notes and you will pass the exams. For the paper go see him for help.. it really does make a difference. I am a Psy major and he will explain anything your unclear about. Dont take more than one of his classes in one semester. Psy 1 and 2 are the only classes he doesn't require the 8 page paper

Travis Gibbs is a genius...He is one of the best professors that I have ever had the opportunity to take. Maybe a little odd and quirky, but you got to love him. Go Travis go. Keep all us students enlightened and interested. I'll also give him a 10 on the hot and sexy meter.

All you have to do is take ntoes and study out of the book. I'd recommend listening to his lectures, but its not mandatory(I spaced out the last half of the semester). Hes funny, so its not like listening to him is hard. He wants you to learn and pass the tests. So always feel free to ask questions.

Dr. Gibbs was by far, the most interesting teacher I've had in a year at RCC MV!! He knows how to efficiently answer questions making the material understandable, so never be afraid to ask!! Notes, and reading are a must in his class, but who cares when it is so worth it!! Anyone that says otherwise was probably just too lazy for this course!!

Gibbs is for sure an interesting cat. He is very funny and very inteligent(yea it's possible). Although, he can throw out quite a bit of info., He gives interesting lectures. He may seem clear what's going to be on the test but beleive him when he says put the lecture notes into YOUR OWN WORDS. He writes tests that can play tricks to one's mind.

Better yet... believe him when he says "ENCODE the information CORRECTLY and STORE it in your mind so that you can RETIEVE it more effectively."

DO NOT BUY the book.... its used about once the whole time as long as you go to class and listen to the lectures your good... although he has a very tough paper about Kohlbergs levels of morality one of the hardest papers ever but he offers EC

Dr. Gibbs class was enjoyable. He most certainly can be described as a standup comedian/psychologist. If you miss his lectures, the tests will be hard to pass and reading the book makes the class confusing.Someone needs to be a gatekeeper because he frequently goes off on tangents. You will learn a lot if you focus on his lectures.

Dr. Gibbs is very good, you should take him. This class is easy if you attend class every day, take good notes because that is exactly what will be on the test. Easy grading, multiple choice questions on every test, extra credit assignment, gives study guides, no midterm only the final. The Book is not really necessary. VERY FUNNY TEACHER!!!

They were still funny. Gibbs likes to joke around alot, don't be late or else he'll make fun of you. You will need to pay attention in his class and take good notes you cannot slip up because the test are based off of the focus topics. GET READY TO LAUGH AND HEAR ALOT OF HIS JOKES IN CLASS. Professor Gibbs is really funny and keeps the lectures interesting. He is also very helpful and allows you to do some easy extra credit. You have to pay close attention during his lectures though and study a lot but he is very clear on what he expects from you. I loved this teacher, he is my second best so far.

Gibbs himself can be intimidating but his class is enjoyable. He takes no bull and will make fun of you. I thought he hated me but still got an A, so he's fair. I've taken him several times for Psych 1, 2, and 9. He's understanding and took the time to hear me out. He knows what he's talking about and how to handle a class. Class is never dull. I enjoy the personal experiences he ties into his lectures. His classes are a blast. Even people who fail his class appreciate his teaching style.

One of the best instructors I've ever had. If you don't want a challenge, don't take his class. He has a tough class but you learn so much. Dr. Travis Gibbs is one of the most amazing professor's I've had the pleasure of being a student for. If you pay attention and study you can pass the class with flying colors, but if you really pay attention to him you will learn more than facts. The BEST PROFESSOR at RCC for PSychology. He is really funny, and makes plenty of connections to the information to make sure students understand. His study guide is practically the test, "he writes the test, not the book" . The paper is pretty hard but definitly do-able. I would definitly take him again. Brilliant.

Lectures provide all of the information that will be on the exams. 3 exams, one paper and one extra credit paper. His paper is not a research paper and involves abstract thinking which is unusual and difficult, but not impossible. Study guides are provided and professor is entertaining and accommodating with assistance during office hours.

Easily one of my favorite professors of all time. His class has a lot of memorizing, but a very helpful study guide; he's fair on tests by giving students extra points if he makes mistake.He's incredibly funny and kept the class very interested. There was always a high attendance for his class. If you want to learn and have fun, take him!

Easily the best professor I had for my first semester. There's no homework whatsoever. He gives you a study guide for each test and goes over each part of the study guide as the semester goes along. He's very comedic in his jokes and inspirational since I also aspire to major in psychology. Very easy if you pay attention. That's the key.

Those that say he's mean were either late, absent, or on their phone. Great guy! Although I don't talk in class and he doesn't know me, I won't forget him! :)

He gives an easy extra credit (Do it!) and one essay. His exams are his lectures, don't waste your money on the book. He gives you the study guides for each exam very early. Answer all of the study guide questions (and maybe even audio record his lecture since he goes pretty fast) and you're sure to pass the class.

You don't really need your book, he goes over every question on the study guide and as long as you pay attention and take notes you will pass. Attendance is everything, he will drop you if you don't show up. The extra credit paper is a must, its not that hard and it can be a life saver. The only thing he grades by is test and the extra credit.

Dr. Gibbs is one of my favorite professors at MVC. His class was interesting to take and it was hardly ever boring. He does use examples to help students achieve a great understanding of the material. In the end, make sure you do the extra credit paper; it is easy and will be good to have at the end of the semester.

The only thing that I would argue with this professor about is that class itself can be filed under something other than being an episodic memory, in nature. When there is so much feeling and inspiration and integration between real life and topics of psychology, it is semantic in nature, to those who feel deeply.

Great professor! I enjoyed all of his lectures he relates it to his and life experiences that help you grasp what the material is about. Hes retiring soon so I highly suggest to take him now! His study guides are identical to tests. Only hard thing was the paradox paper!

AWESOME professor! He's the best psychology professor you'll take and in MVC. He is a solid choice for biological psych. I would not miss class cuz he goes over every answer for study guides which are the same as the exams. Exams are every 2 weeks & it covers 2-3 chapters which make tests easy rather than studying loads of material.

One of my favorite professors! Every class is a great lecture. His tests are based off the study guide he gives you. If you take the time to study and understand what he's teaching, then you'll pass with a good grade. Wish there were more professors like him.

Awesome guy! Respected by all and funny in his lectures which really grab your attention. Sadly had to drop his class due to the COVID pandemic and everything being switched to an online. Would take him again if he wasn't going to retire.

Dr. Gibbs was my favorite professor. He was methodical in his teaching and very fair. There were a couple times when we disagreed, however he was willing to listen and allow me to explain my point of view. His student respected him and he never came across as condescending like some other professors. I always enjoyed his stories about his son.

Leaving this review possibly 15 years later after taking his course, but there are just sometimes those professors who impart on you a positive experience. I had a random thought of this class today and recall the happy memories of being 19 years old. I'm 34 now, and thankful for the education. Mr. Gibbs is an absolute G.
