So so so helpful if you need help. Very happy and very funny. Is a practicing lawyer so knows his stuff. I would hire him if I got into any kind of legal trouble!
In summary. He's a snake. But a good snake that you would want to hire.f He's the best law professor ever.
Good teacher. And fun class - especially the skits. Lots of material to learn though!!
So much fun, very entertaining prof. Reminds me a bit of Jerry Seinfeld.
I have a huge crush on T H. He's the man, he's the****, he's the mak daddy of Law. I would like to have his child, however i lack a womb. I'm a dude. But i'm a dude that really really likes T H. The medical comunity has informed me that they have made huge strides in making it possible for me to be with child. Take this class IT"S THE BEST.
Good proffessor, keeps things interesting
this prof is awesome! he makes class so interesting and you learn so much! i didnt know law could be this interesting - loved it! and heres a red hot chili pepper for you mr. T! ;)
Amazing teacher, informative and a very proficient speaker. Wish this class was the first of the day cause it wakes me right up
What a great teacher. He makes the class awesome. Even on Fridays I wish the class would go at least an hour longer. He is jokes are hilarious and he stays on track. Everything he teaches is so useful in life and interesting to talk to friends about. This is by far my best class during post secondary. I will probably fail just to take it again
If you are taking Legl210, make sure you have Travis! I always had things to talk about with my husband at home cause T really tried to make class interesting and useful! Best class Grant has to offer but too bad not all instructors are as great as Travis! I wish he taught all the classes! Take this class even if you don't need it!!
Excellent prof! I hate law but he made the class interesting and the material understandable. Fun guy to be around.
Amazing prof, all you have to do is show up and you'll do fine, but don't miss a class. Smart guy and will help you if you need legal advice of your own. Makes it easy to do well due to his humorous examples and personality.
He's really good! His class is interesting and easy to learn.
Best teacher EVER!!! Law is boring, but not in his class~ He has a good sense of humor and his class is very interesting. Besides he's a very nice person, very easy-going and a easy marker as well. Dont hesitate to take his class!
amazing professor, his class is never boring. i actually like going to his class. he's got a great sense of humor, and likes to joke in class all the time. he was a lawyer for 20 years, so he knows exactly what he is talking about. he always offers great insight into the material plus he knows great case examples that's not in the textbook.
Awesome prof made it clearand his tests are open book. He makes class fun and lots of group work which is great. Hes funny and makes his students understand the material hes teaching.
He is a very tough marker so know that going in. His classes are really enjoyable and I do not regret taking this class. If you are looking for an esay GPA booster keep on looking.
Excellent Prof! Great sense of humour makes classes enjoyable to attend. Thoroughly knows his material and how to communicate it effecively through cases and examples. Easy GPA booster if you put in the effort. Very down to earth and approachable. He also doesnt mind giving legal advice to his students even if it is irrelevant to the course.
Awesome teacher! very helpful and tells you exactly what is on the exams. His tests are pretty straight forward and open book. He made this class so easy! recommend him!
Phenomenal professor~! Really enjoyable. took his 8am class and I didn't skip any one of them~! Make sure to keep up with the content and read the textbook to prepare for the exams.
Absolutely amazing professor. Best I've had yet. I attended every single class and actually learned something new everyday. His exams are open book but don't take that for granted, this class is about applying your knowledge, its no cakewalk. If he teaches any higher level courses I plan to take them just for the fun of it. Once again amazing prof.
Best prof i've ever had. Always had a full class, lectures were interesting and very helpful. Exams were easy, although marks a bit tough on assignments. Just try hard and you'll do great!
Excellent teacher, effectively made students read the text without it seeming like it was work. Would love to attend his class again! Open book tests too, but you have to read the text to do well.
Travis is a great instructor, and a very smart lawyer. His tests were hard but generally he is an easy marker. He let us leave class 20 mins in sometimes. Very helpful and friendly.
Wonderful teacher, really helpful, Great class I would recommend getting him as a teacher
Awesome Prof-Must Have! Lively, flexible, funny, real life, helpful, relaxed! Power point notes! Hard marker on Assignments. BONUS MARKS for 1st participations! Tests: open book (quizzes, mid terms, and finals)! Some repeated questions!!! Group work “Acting Presentations” are freaking hilarious!
Nice helpful teacher, can be a bit hard to get a hold of through email and the class is a lot of work. Open book midterm and final but are only worth 35% of the total grade. You can get an A in this class but takes a lot of work.
He is such a nice teacher, his class is interesting filled with lots of legal cases making it so much more fun to learn! exams are open book, if you go to his class and actually listens and take notes with some reading of the textbook you will do great. He is a very generous teacher, he stayed up till 10PM to answer my questions AN AMAZING PROF
I enjoyed having Travis as a professor this term. The lessons were engaging, and the material covered was relevant. He gave everybody every chance possible to get a good grade, but the course still required thought and effort. The material was taught well and was relatively easy to understand. I am glad to have had him as a teacher.
Nice guy, but exams are difficult and marks hard on the assignment.
Exremely good and interesting prof. Always kept class interesting.
Best prof. Makes the class entertaining and is the nicest guy. Attendance is not mandatory because exams are open book and straight from the textbook. All exams multiple choice and easy.
Prof engages the class to make interesting and memorable lessons. Lectures sometimes get dry, but there are few and it's law (what do you expect?) Regular attendance is a good idea and he marks strictly but fairly
Great Prof! Would definitely take again!!Always there for you when needed. Will even help you with personal legal disputes.
Interesting, articulate, and funny - Travis Huckell is a pleasure to listen to in class. Although his tests are mostly based off the textbook, most people showed up anyways just to listen to him. He tries his absolute hardest to help you succeed by handing out bonus marks and extending assignment deadlines. It's impossible not to do good!
Classes are very interesting and he knows his material very well. The 2 assignments he gives out are easy marks, however the posts test are quite a bit harder and you really need to work for those marks.
Travis was nothing but great. Lectures are solid, and usually shortened! He gives the opportunity for bonus points through optional assignments, and his exams are open book and very fair. Although his online quizzes can be tricky at times, I highly recommend you do them all. They're typically worth a good chunk of your grade. 10/10 would recommend.
Great teacher, his lectures are very interesting but not required to go too. You have to read the textbook weekly to be prepared for his weekly quizzes. His midterm wasn't too tough but the final was quite hard. He does a lot of peer assessment and you will have to present in front of the class with a group.
His lectures are great, he keeps the class engaged with his unique examples however he doesn't post his notes online. He gives the opportunity for bonus points through in-class activities, and his exams are open book. There are two assignments - 1 involves a group presentation. He has online quizzes due weekly so reading the textbook is mandatory.
Travis' class was a super easy one. Although there is a lot of reading involved for the independent classes/the assignments, it's really not that hard. For this class all exams are open book, they are kind of hard but if you can read the textbook you'll pass with a decent mark. Super nice guy too!
Travis is entertaining in class. If you read the textbook chapters and do the quizzes, you are golden for the exams. Travis gives you guidance in class for assignments, and he points you in the right direction. Marking criteria is very clear. Easy marks available in this class. Would take again for sure.
Travis was amazing. he took a boring subject and made it clear and entertaining. use the textbook for quizzes and exams and you're set, no reason why you can't get an A in this class. He gives bonus points and will boost your grade at the end of the semester if you put in some effort!! He's more than willing to help any student!
Hands down the best professor i've had at MacEwan. very engaging lectures, extremely knowledgeable. he is the real deal. don't expect publisher slides or canned presentations. Attend class not because it mandatory, but because you will learn a lot.
Law can be really boring if taken with the wrong prof, but Travis is definitely one of the profs that make you think it's worth going to instead. His lectures keeps the class engaged so you're awake for them. His online quizzes are kind of hard but his MT and finals are super easy and he's very flexible when it comes to handing in assignments.
Travis tries to make all his lectures and assignments interesting. Made it very clear on what he wanted for the assignments. Midterm and final were open book. Nice professor, easy class. Highly recommend.
Best prof up to date. It is not an easy A but just read the book carefully and you will be able to do the quizzes fine (they are a little tricky). Travis makes class very easy to sit through, he will make you wanna go.
Lectures are not necessary in order to get a good grade on this class. He reads directly from course notes and spends multiple classes going over the same topic again and again. He is very disorganized and nothing feels like it was planned ahead of time. Would not recommend this course to anyone.
The tests are all based on what is taught in class so no need to buy this text book. Amazing professor! Very helpful with everything. Online mid term and Final were excellent and fairly easy.
Travis is a great prof. Legal can be boring but he tries his best to make it bearable. Would take him again.
Travis was great. Quizzes are a bit tricky, but exams are open book. Attend his classes for the bonus points they help at the end of the semester. I didn't mind attending classes, he's super funny
So many quizzes. And they're tough. Midterms and final are online. Attendance isn't mandatory but he goes over what will be on the quizzes in class. Marks papers relatively easy and gives grades back quickly. There's a group presentation worth 10%. Provides lots of readings on blackboard that help with quizzes. Overall funny guy. Pretty good prof.
Amazing prof! Always making jokes in class and had interesting lectures. Tests easy if you know the material, and he gives good examples of concepts. Also can help you if you have a legal issue. Definitely recommend and would take again!
Covers the hard material in class very thouroughly, so you do have to do a lot of textbook reading, but he is extremely helpful, allows you to bring anything into the exams (computers included) and provides clear and concise examples. Also has online quizzes which are good for easy marks
Going to class is pointless. All the answers to his online quizzes, midterm, and final are on Course Hero. If you're willing to spend $50 a month for the membership the you have an easy 4.0 in his class.
Travis is a good professor. Accepts assignments after they are due. Marks fairly and gives bonus marks in class. Did not follow the textbook in order so doing the online assignments was difficult. All tests are open book. Would recommend him, very reasonable professor.
Great Prof! You don't have to buy the text because he gives you the readings. Seriously, attend class and pay attention to the cases he talks about, they are covered a lot in the quizzes and exams. Midterm and Final were open books and you are allowed to look up answers. The group project really sucks, and I find he is a really tough paper marker.
Travis is a gem. Opportunity for bonus marks on occasion. Textbook is not necessary since he creates his own readings. He is always easy to reach on email with his prompt responses. Lectures can be dry and feel repetitive but are usually beneficial to attend because he covers a lot of cases that show up in tests/assignments.
this guy will scam you with bonus marks. in the end he wont grant them unless he likes you. other than that hes okay.
Travis does not really teach this class. YOU DO with student presentations every single class. Legal Ethics was a strange class, huge solo presentations plus three papers and a variety of smaller assignments. Travis is never short of things to mark. Seems to mark very easy for the course compared to Legal 320. Very interesting topics are covered
Travis' lectures are super interesting, but be ready to participate! He also can be a bit extreme with his grading, but he's always ready to give amazing feedback before you hand anything in. Our class was cut short because of COVID-19, but he really wanted us to succeed even with the given circumstances, so he made the course load way lighter.
Terrible professor, his grading criteria is unclear and he wasn't open to discussion on any marks. Marks so hard and my grade was much lower than any other grade I received. Talks endlessly in his lecture and it's hard to follow. Don't recommend it.
With being online he was pretty chill. Had online lectures but you didnt have to go. One quiz a week with only 5 questions, midterm and final. Not much work but test questions are worded weird. Over all very easy
I have heard great things about this prof prior to this class, but I would strongly avoid taking this course online. By far the lowest mark i have received, questions on the exams were tossups, instruction was never all too clear, and he marked considerably harder than expected, overall I'd avoid it while its online and wait to take it in class.
Passionate about what hes teaching and very helpful
Nice guy. He's very knowledgeable of the law. Since it was online, he would often ramble rather than reading the whats on the PowerPoint, but that's a personal preference. Quizzes weren't too bad but they were worded really odd.
Travis is one of MacEwan's finest LEGL profs. I had him for LEGL 210 and LEGL 320. His lectures are clear and his examples are great. His exams are fair, and he prepares students well for them. He gives clear expectations and tells you what concepts to know. I would recommend him and if I could get him for a 3rd class I wouldn't hesitate.
If you hate presenting, dont take this class. You have to do a individual presentation and a question period after. 10% of your grade is participation, so show up and be engaged. Travis is really passionate about this class and it shows. Im really happy I got to take this class, and for a 400 level, I found it easier than some 300 levels.
Took this Winter 2021 semester. The course itself has a LOT of information to cover which means that Travis has to fly through things pretty quick. His quizzes test your ability to read rather than your application ability, which I didn't like. But he is really nice person, he answers emails quickly and makes exceptions if you're a regular to class
Had Travis for a hybrid class (both in-person and online). He was brilliant! He's a good lecturer and is clear and direct about his expectations for the class. The bonus point activities are also a help. His tests can be challenging if you struggle with textbook reading, especially during major exams. Overall, this prof is a good choice.
Fair tester. All exams were multiple choice. Easy to approach. Explains topics well and gives great examples. Knows his stuff. Would take his class again for sure, I just didn't put in enough time reading the textbook.
All tests are open book, even midterm and final. His tests are fairly hard if you don't refer to the textbook, and lectures aren't mandatory. Very funny guy and makes his classes enjoyable. Helpful hint: take pictures of your test/quiz answers and use them for midterm and final as some of the exact questions will be on it :)
We teach the class ourselves by presentations as he sits there. Tough grader, does not care about students or to negotiate marks, will not take again
All lectures comprised of presentations by students- i almost dropped the class for this reason but glad I didn't. It's a great way to learn and absorb the material, not just attend boring lectures. If you're worried about the class because of this, stick to it! Open book Final and Midterm, and he is a fair marker. Great Prof with good insights.
Took this course some years ago & was so blessed to be taught by him. I struggled because I was new to this material, but he will absolutely reward your effort and resolve to succeed. He does challenge you to think critically in terms of how he words the exam questions, so you'll need to adapt yourself to the "legalese". He's very approachable too.
On the first day, I felt like running out of the room thinking I'd never learn this material. Yet, his lectures are very engaging & comprehensible. I recommend asking him if your essays are up to par before the due dates because he has exacting standards. If you go to class & speak up, he'll give you some marks, & there are bonus opportunities too.
Travis is so knowledgeable and spoke about business law in such an interesting way. I learnt a lot from this class. All tests were open book and online, including the midterm and final. He has clear expectations, and doesn't stray far from those expectations, but did offer extensions for the class. I would take him again.
He was amazing! took this course online asynchronous and he has it organized very well
Hes good but the class tough
Really enjoyed this class, if you pay attention use the textbook it fairly easy. He always tried to make lectures fun!
This class is all individual presentations. Students teaching students is the best way to learn. Legal Majors TAKE HIS CLASS. It's an easy A/GPA booster. If you're too shy to present in front of peers, then legal studies probably isn't your calling. Travis was super helpful outside of class and answered all my questions. Love Love Love
Extremely heavy grader. Willing to dock 20% of an assignment mark for little to no reason. Certainly not one that justifies such a heavy penalty. The assignments weren't terrible, but the student evaluations on said assignments were awful. Exams were almost entirely trick questions. Very little knowledge-based testing, it was all about tiny details
I think Mr huckell is a great professor, always willing to meet after class, but his legl 320 class is extremely hard and he marks very harshly.
in class presentations, very hard marker, 30% in class assesments, 20% presentation, 30% research paper, 10% research paper outline, 10% asking questions in class
quizzes and exams are difficult but fair but are littered with trick questions. two assignments with peer evaluation can lead to low marks even though you put a lot of effort into it. would recommend to take another prof.
Took asynchronous class. He allows students to join an online meet to be with in-person students. However, I personally just found it boring & stuck to the online textbook. Was super responsive through email when I had questions and ALL tests were open-book. Quiz every week for each chapter so get ready to read a whole section of textbook each week
quiz and exam questions are difficult so make sure you prepare and read the textbook thoroughly. the peer review assignments can be a pain, so put a lot of effort into it and hope the people in your class will grade it as such.
Very amazing prof. Travis was very clear on how the course was graded, was based on 2 assignments, 10 quizzes, 1 midterm and a final exam. I took his online class so all tests were online, even the final. His lectures were clear and amazing.
This guy is vey funny and straight forward, just started his course and have great hopes. He's the potential GOAT.
He is a good professor, the class was slightly challenging though.
He's good at teaching based on his slides, but he's a tough grader and requires you to grade other people's assignments, and you basically get graded on your grading of the other assignments (as close to his mark as possible). Completely defeats the purpose of peer feedback. Exams are open-book. He won't budge any grades, don't waste your time.
Very caring prof from what i can remember however his lectures were very heavy and participation was required for a few assignments in which you needed to ask 5 very in depth questions during discussions which sometimes felt rough. Over all though, his assessments, mostly writing based, were straight forward but he grades harder than most profs.
I don't even think I can properly explain my experience in this class. I am not sure if he changed or if he's going through an existential crisis, but don't be fooled by the 4.4 rating bc I was. Everyone told me that he was a great professor and helped his students, so I was so excited to take it. He was an awful human being. Possibly heartless.
It wasn't terrible but rubrics for papers were vague and he marks pretty tough.
