His tests had nothing to do with the lectures! Tests were super hard! His knowledge of the subject was not very good. Did not show any concern for his students. Spent HOURS on completing homework only to get 1 out of 3 on most assignments. Was really pissed to find out that his teaching aid graded our homework! Barely passed his class with a D! More than 50% of us had a D or lower. I say go to hell with Math 100 until there are better teachers to teach it!!

Pros: (3rd sem) Calculus is not an easy subject; Dr. Kelm is careful to explain key ideas in a visual format. He's also really good about responding to students questions in class. Uses computer tools (graphing/ prior to class) to speed up some tedious calculations. Cons: He's a little out there and can linger too long on subjects from time to time

Dr.Kelm is an extremely smart person, but has no idea how to explain a subject that he has absolutely no interest in. Math 75 with this instructor is overwhelming. Daily homework includes 3 assignments with 7-20 questions, even on weekends. Lectures cover one example and go off-topic, forcing students to learn through homework, but attendance is still graded. Exams dominate grades, with no makeup or extra credit. Many take 4 semesters to finish what should be 1-2.

Highly recommend avoiding this professor at all costs. Gives out hundreds of problems weekly online through Alta which I think is terrible for learning and very frustrating. He focuses on things in math that are simply completely irrelevant to future classes. I once got a 75% on a quiz even though I got every answer right. Do not take!

I am still taking the class but honestly I would not recommend. He never teaches and go on tangents about stuff that is not needed. Most of my class is failing. Pass Math 6 with a B so you do not have to take this class. Be prepared to learn Calculus by yourself. Good luck. If you weren't religious trust me you will start praying to GOD.

Travis Kelm is a great professor, and I'm unsure why his ratings are low. His lectures give you the information needed, but many students struggle because they don't put in the effort outside of class. Homework is manageable, exams are fair, and he's always willing to help during office hours. Overall, a great professor and person.

I like Travis. If you can put in a little effort out of class you can pass. He's very eccentric but, what math professor isn't? Quizzes are every week but very short and he gives partial credit. Sometimes goes on tangents but his lectures give you all the info you need, just pay attention.

For Math75A, every week on Thursday is a quiz by yourself and a quiz with a group. Doing the HW really helps, but also very time-consuming, but it's calc 1, so it's going to be. If you're confused ask a question or go to his office hours, he explains it very well and tries to find a way to teach you it for you to understand the no cost materials.
