lechtures notes 2 papers a few exams interesting fun
No Comments
Great Teacher! Is Very Clear With Everything And Loves The Subject He Is Teaching. Make Sure You Attend Class And Take Notes. As Long As You Do That You WILL Pass The Class. He Tells You What Will Be On The Tests And The Exam (Its All From Notes) So Make Sure You Study.
interesting easy teacher, just take notes and you'll do fine, he gives u a review sheet for the test, and the report papers were easy to do.
Class isn't the most interesting class, but he tries really hard to make it fun. He's really nice and understanding. This class isn't very hard, class attendance is mandatory though. I enjoyed him as a professor.
Your exams are based on your class notes. I found the Gordon Rule papers we wrote were pretty easy once you found your topic, and he give a great review for the final exam:)
Meek is a lecture-based professor who excels at teasing connections out of students via conversation and inquiry--very socratic. Take solid notes! The book and Wikipedia won't tell you what he's looking for. Easy grading on the Gordon Rule papers, and an official review for every test guarantees success. Highly recommended--many students returned!
amazing teacher. I learned so much this year. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Wonderful teacher he makes the class very interesting! I would def recomend him. Makes alot of funny references and is reasonable. Easy grading on the Gordon Rule essays. However pay attention because he will give a pop quiz if there are disturbances (cell phones, paper shuffling, not paying attention etc.)!
he's cute and funny. reviews are very helpful. he's very nice and teaches really good. take notes and you'll be fine.
He is a great professor!
Taking notes in this class is key. Exams are based on lectures..specific examples and events of his lectures. 2 term papers are pretty easy once you find a topic and follow the Gordon Rule.
Very cute even though he's a little cross eyed. He's about 30 and makes everything VERY interesting. READ THE STORIES!! there aren't many and if you don't he gives a pop quiz that is impossible to pass if no one answers his questions. He's really a great teacher though. 2 papers are very easy. good luck
Very good teacher, just make sure you take notes! He is also very helpful and keeps your attention with his methods of teaching!
This was my favorite class last semester! His lectures, which are Powerpoint based, were very interesting and kept my attention. He told you everything you needed to know for the exams and gives you a comprehensive review prior to the exams. I registered for an inconvienient ARH class just to have him as an instructor. I would surely recommend!
He's really knows his stuff! ?His class is very interesting, taking notes is extremely important! He will give a pop quiz if any cell phones go off, or if u start putting ur books away before he says its ok. Other than that I loved his class! I would deff take another class with him.
His art class is very difficult. If you think it will be an easy "A" your wrong. Knows his stuff but the class is a waste of time.
This teacher is the hardest teacher I have had. He gives a powerpoint lecture every class, and it is very CRITICAL that you take notes because he doesn't go over anything and he gives a test every week (all short answers). Not enough time for tests. The final project is even harder. You're expected to know art in this class.
Hardest teacher I have had. I agree with the person below. Test every week, MUST take notes, and final project is really hard. Don't bother buying the text book (never used). If you know the elements for art then this class is right for you. If you don't then you're screwed!!!
In truth, it's vital to take notes and study hard for this class, but it's worth it. Mr. Meek is an awesome teacher, not only because he definitely knows his stuff, but also for his interest in conveying a thorough, no-bs view of art and history. He's ironic and funny; if you're in college to learn a couple of things, he's ARH class is a must.
I'm an art major so I got a lot out of this class, but he's very critical and everything is powerpoint (even the exams and final project) If you don't take his lecture notes and put them to the test, you'll be kinda screwed. If you love art and are an art major, he's great. If not, take someone else. His class is tough.
Not an easy class, but if you study and pay attention to his lectures you will do fine. He is very critical and grades rather harsh. Overall he is a great professor, not boring, but you HAVE TO TRY. This isn't an easy A class. If you are not willing to put forth 100% then don't waste your time.
He knows his history and materials very well. He speaks very clearly and animated. Sometimes the class felt long, he sometimes would go over time. Interesting guy. I enjoyed his class. I would recommend him to auditory learners.
I found him very inspiring, I could tell he loved teaching humanities esp the Greek culture. His passion for teaching far over rates most other professors that I have come across this past year. Long Teach Mr Meek!!!
My friend Kelcey and I both agreed the guy was a bore. On top of that he was a jerk about everything. Highly avoid if possible.
Mr. Meeks is very passionate about the subject;however he does't always focus on the most important sections for the test. You will need to study for this class to pass. The book was completely pointless just print the powerpoints and take notes. He often runs over his lecture time because he has no respect for his students time. Good luck.
Fairly strict teachers. Easy if you go to class, take notes, and pay attention.
Great teacher, absolutely inspired me in life after this class. I definitely think his passion shows everyday. He does run over time, but I think he just gets too into the subject matter. Art students- definitely recommended!
LOVE Mr.Meek! Tests are timed and NOT easy; lots of note taking (if you want to do well). I definately wouldn't say the class was easy, but he makes it interesting and connects everything to make it more understandable. Don't take him if you have a big class load. He's hot too!
Loved Mr.Meek. You can tell that he is passionate about what he teaches. If you take good notes and study hard for the tests, you should be able to pass with an A.
GREAT TEACHER! VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT HUMANITIES AND TEACHING. HE WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO COME AWAY WITH A KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUBJECT. VERY HELPFUL IF YOU NEED ANYTHING. HE DOES EXPECT PEOPLE TO ACT LIKE ADULTS. ATTENDING CLASS AND TAKING NOTES IS VERY IMPORTANT. I LOVED HIS CLASS! I RECOMEND HIM AS LONG AS YOU WILLING TO DO THE WORK.
You have to go to class and take good notes. His tests are on the hard side, but he is really good about letting you do make ups if yo miss class
If you want one of the best learning experiences of your life, you must take Mr. Meek. His passion for what he does is second to none, and he is the best lecturer around. I'm not saying his class was easy because you MUST study hard. However, it is well worth the time! I would take any class he instructs.
Great great great professor. Knows what he is talking about and actually traveled to these prehistoric places. VERY knowledgeable and keeps it lively in class. DO THE READING ASSIGNMENTS! Three strikes of people not reading and he does a 5 question pop quiz. Just a heads up :)
AS long as you do the work and show up to class, you will actually enjoy learning about humanities.
Hard Teacher but knows his subject. Lectures a Video lecture is boring. If art isnt your life you will have a hard time. Grades harsh and doesnt give enough time on tests which are weekly. Many student complained in disscussion he pretty much blows of concerns.
good teacher, his lectures weren't boring, and he made the subjects interestig.
Plays favorites and shouldn't be allowed to teach. He also didn't know easy answers to questions about Art of Humanities. Smug and uses his position to entitle others who don't know the subjects as well.
Extremely hard grader, acts like this is a class for art majors. Doesn't give enough time on test. Can be smug. Would not recommend him at all. I am a straight A student never missed an assignment or turned in anything late and got a C in his class. Very disappointing.
Awful teacher. Not enough time to give a good answer on tests, then nitpicks your answer to death so he doesn't have to give A's. Don't bother bringing any concerns about this to him, he says - too bad. Worst of all, for an "educated" man, he mispronounces so much that he sounds illiterate! Have I said really awful yet?
rediculously hard at grading. could never please him with my work even though i did exactly as he asked. pretty boring if you dont love art.not very helpful at all, i would not recommend him.
dude has great insight, but would be better if he goes to europe and sees the things and places he's talking about.
ARH100 class online. As others say, very unreasonable hard grading from day 1. Expects you to know everything about art first day. Doesn't give enough time for tests. Nothing pleases this guy, always would find something tiny to count off points for.
I'm not sure why people are giving him such a hard rating. I just finished taking his Class and earned a A. His grading isn't rough as people are making it out to be you take the exams and do your paper and you finish with a A if you actually take the time to study. He said on the first day his exams were hard and the first exam everyone passed.
It was definitely not what I expected for a non-art majoring intro to art history course. I began the course with an eagerness to learn about art as it has always been interesting to me. However, I found myself struggling to pass this course. I did not enjoy my time in his class nor the material; in fact it has deterred me from art all together.
If you actually go to class and read the required stories the class is a breeze. For the amount of material covered he does a great job and introduces interesting perspectives.
This professor is a JOKE!!! He is terrible you MUST do ALL of the REQUIRED READINGS! which are 4 different reading assignments each class. The exams are just RIDICULOUS. He splits them into multiple choice & 3 essays that you must explain in LONG PARAGRAPHS. This class was such a waste of time.& he dosen't know when you will administer the tests
I took this class online. If you do the work he assigns and do it in the manner that he asks the class is not hard at all. he is a very resonable grader with clear due dates and deadlines and even clearer rubrice on how he grades and what you need to do to earn that grade!
Please do not take him if you dont have time or you dont like to read because he will make you read a lot... HIs tests ae really really HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he is not a bad professor overall but he does expect a lot of critical thinking and determination. the book is required because of his readings. he also goes in dept about everything but i enjoyed the class with his stories.
Most inconsiderate person I've ever encountered. Do NOT take him if you're just trying to obtain a Humanties credit. He will accuse you of plagiarizing. He grades so incredibly hard when 90% of people dont care a thing about art. He takes forever to grade tests and waits days to respond to emails. AWFUL!!!
WOW. WORST CLASS EVER. SAVE YOURSELVES PEOPLE. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH HIM.
I've enjoyed this class. The readings he assigns are no longer than 4 pgs, but be prepared to answer in depth questions about them, within class discussions. His tests are not bad, he actually provides the entire class with a study guide, as long as you study u'll receive an A! And his power pts are online, print them out and take notes!
I took his Intro to Art class thinking it would be an easy humanities credit but boy was I mistaken!!! I got a B for a final grade but it was the hardest B I ever had to work for. There is a test every class and they are all on the overhead. Each question is timed...it sucks. He does have alot of knowledge about the subject & is a great instructor.
I would not recommened this instructor for this class whether it is online or during live sessions. He grsdes harshly and he doesn't help you with any questions you may have. He seems to not care about any of his students and he wants to see his students fail. These are the reasons why I feel like someone should not take his course.
Do not take this class if you do not have time to know the material in your sleep. A lot of memorization is required. The class was a humanity course that I didn't mind taking since I had an interest in art and art history, although he made it dreadful. Art concepts are good and how they tie into history, but he takes exams to insanity.
Wow. This class is hard. If it was a required class for an art major or upper level course I could understand. He takes this class to the extreme. In order to pass his weekly quizzes you need to watch two 2 hour lectures and read the chapter. And don't forget to take notes! His cumulative exams are ridiculous. Save yourself, find another instructor
Professor is extremely intolerant with students that offer advice or suggestion to make syllabus clearer, delayed communication, inflexible, timed exams not long enough, excessive amounts of reading, 2+ hours of weekly power point lectures. He is dreadful and inattentive to students' overall learning experience. Is not considerate and hard grader.
Really tough grader. Tests were timed with no where near enough time for his ridiculous essay questions. I got an A in all my other classes at HCC including Calc 1 & Calc 2 but somehow received a B in this stupid class. The material was somewhat interesting, but don't expect an A. Don't bother buying the book. There are no readings assigned
Plainly put: this teacher is HORRID! His lectures are long, boring, and difficult to understand. He rambles a LOT and gets a ton of historical information correct. He will not help you with any of your questions and his tests are beyond ridiculous. You don't need the textbook if you take the online course. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
I had to work very hard to get a B in this class. I have taken and gotten A in calc 1, 2, and 3, differential equations, and physics with cal 1 and 2. The problem with this class is that the grading for essay questions and project is very subjective and there is not enough time to answer the tests, which are worth %55 of your grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He has no business being a professor. He's confusing, aloof & would rather play "gotcha" games than educate. Quizzes/tests on images that haven't even been covered. Essays are required on timed tests that do not afford you enough time to take. I was looking forward to this class. A colossal waste of time AND money! Thanks a lot HCC. DO NOT TAKE!!!
If you do not know anything about this subject do NOT take him. He rambles on about totally irrelevant things. Grades consist of 3 test and a gordon rule essay, and some of the test go back from notes that we took 2 months prior. Half of the terms on his test reviews are spelled wrong. He is terrible. I do NOT recommend him.
I registered for this class before I knew about rate my professor. What an epic mistake. This was supposed to be an entry level class that provides a general over view of the subject of visual art. I am not an art major and this is supposed to be an elective. The other comments here are true. This course is much more difficult than it should be.
Mr. Meek is awesome. He is very excited about what he does and it shows in his lectures. If you pay attention and take notes you will pass no problem. loved him!
Prof. Meek is a wonderful teacher who genuinely knows a lot about his field. His class requires you to pay attention attend class and memorize a fair bit of information so it is not "easy" but it is very doable and rewarding. If you come to class, participate, and study you will do well. I had a good time and was introduced to fantastic new ideas.
This course is suppose to be an intro class, it was required at least 2 log in a week which is fine; however you just cant answer questions, he wants you to know as much as him in the essays. He will not communicate with you he only wants you to talk to the class
I will never ever take this mans class again. DO NOT take this class. He assigns readings, asks questions about the reading, and if you get the question wrong he marks you ABSENT. Idk if any of yall are on financial aid, but I am, and that is a big problem for me if he's gonna be marking me absent for getting a question wrong.
This is not a intro to art class, the material covered is for art majors. All online material is a powerpoint video recording of a older live class, the audio is sub par and very hard to understand at times, do not take this class unless you enjoy learning from a poor quality video feed.
2/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. But seriously, I took this class online and all he provides for you is a low quality powerpoint with with background noise of him lecturing and the class he's teaching. He never specifically states what he is asking for and the quizzes will not tell you what specific questions you got wrong. Extremely difficult to learn.
Professor does not actually teach, provides a powerpoint of a previously taught class and does not give concrete definitions. Does not provide the correct answer on tests or quizzes. This class does not seem like an intro course and would probably be more interesting with a different teacher.
Such a hard class but well worth it in the end. Has high expectations of students but learned much more for it. Don't expect easy A and need to make time for the course. Willing to help when you take the time to contact him.
He is a very terrible instructor !!! This class is a very hard class taking into consideration the Testing styles that he does is just horrible. After completing 3 chapters we have final exam for those 3 chapters learnt. The time limit for the exam is very less and even if you know the answers often times you end up not completing the exam.
Mr. Meek was a great teacher. The tests are difficult. You definitely have to study. Short essays go along with them, just make sure you include as much info as possible! Very interactive and interesting class. Just speak up and study hard. He is willing to do recommendations if you prove yourself. I now have a full scholarship with his help.
Do not take this. His lectures are confusing and his exams are very hard and he only gives you short time to finished it. My GPA went down because of this guy.
Save your GPA, don't take this class. He gives you old videos of confusing lectures and short timed tests that are really hard. Although it's intro to visual arts, it's like for art majors..
In college there are teachers that sometimes are misunderstood or shunned by students; however, once you start paying attention to what the teacher discusses in class, you realize you are in the presence of a true genius - Prof. Meek is one of those teachers. Take plenty of notes and pay close attention to class discussion and you should pass it.
Don't take this class! I took his class as a requirement; I'm going into Occupational Therapy and do not need it. The grades that I received were bogus. On a one paragraph prospectus I got an eighty just because he assured himself he's smarter than his students. The tests are hard because of the short time limit. This class was not enjoyable at all
Overall it was a good class. The test are a bit tough but as long as you take good notes and do all the readings your golden. Oh and show up for class, you loose two points for every day you don't show up.
Prof. Meek knows the material very well and has amazing lectures. The course requires your full attention to all the material. Meek makes you earn your grade and is able to tell if you haven't done what you're supposed to, so no fooling him for good grades. Tough tests and papers however take advantage of ex. cred. NO CELLPHONES, SERIOUSLY.
I previously had Professor Meek for HUM-2210 so I definitely knew what I was getting myself into. He expects a lot from you as a student but is very honest and upfront from the beginning. He's one of the most passionate teachers I've had, hence me taking the second part of the course. Show up, take notes, read, and participate and you'll be fine.
Tests are extremely tough. He does not give enough time for the essay questions. This an in intro class, but is taught as if it is for art majors to art enthusiasts. The videos are past lectures and the powerpoints in the lecture don't always clarify what is being discussed. This is a tough class and hard to follow. Take something else!
Professor Meek is an awesome teacher, he is a very tough grader but its college what do you expect ? He makes his classes very interesting and is very helpful as long as you show up to class. I took him for two different classes and it was the best decision i ever made.
Took online Understand Visual Art. Pretty basic - listen to the pre-recorded lecture, take a test. If you paid attention & take notes on the power point printout he gives you, you'll pass. The project was tough graded as I'm not an art person. Would take again. You can work ahead. Worked about 2-3 hours per week including listening to the lecture.
His test were tough; you really need to pay attention to the lectures and take good notes. He does spend a lot of time on the stuff you will find on the test. He gave feedback and answered emails quickly, allowing you time to improve. The project was a little confusing, but he did give lots of feedback on the rough draft so you have time to correct
Professor Meek is a tough cookie but show up to class and try your best and it will be worth your while. Take plenty of notes, listen to his lectures and do your homework and you will pass with flying colors. Oh and study those exam reviews.
Enjoyed the class, hard to study really hard, talked a lot, make sure to get notes from your friends if you miss.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Doesn't use the book very much, but they saved my life on his papers. Come to class and write down everything he says because it WILL be on the test. Took him for humanities and taking him again for visual art. Awesome!
Amazing lectures on art history. The test are very tough, but if you take notes and study the material you will do fine. Responds to emails quickly and will help you work through any problems you may have, very courteous. Very organized study plan and you are provided with very thorough study guides. Great professor.
Do not take this class, he only gives you 10 minutes to complete quizzes he says that you should be able to finish the quiz within his time period if you know the material doesn't account for people who need extra time thinking and focusing on each question. Is very rigid makes the class harder than it needs to be. Also gives you essay exams!
He is very rough on grading, when he gives material for mid-term does NOT explain it all, just gives you the review online you have to print it and do it on your own, has on the review what he wants us to know, but that information is neither in the notes or just lectures. NOT GOOD.
Your grade doesn't consist of many things, 2 papers, 2 exams, and participation. However, if you come to class every day and take good notes, you'll be golden! You won't use the textbook much unless it comes to writing your golden rule assignments. Everything on his study guides, will appear on the mid-term so just make sure to study!
Come to class, listen, join in on class topic and opinion. Very down to earth! Great guy, open minded but doesn't give a grade you dont deserve.
Professor seems like a nice person but I just did not enjoy this class at all. Graded on very things. Only thing graded on was 2 essays, participation, midterm, and final. Very boring
The grades consists of two Gordon rule papers about works of art (must go to museum or anywhere else that he allows), two exams consisting of 50-60 questions plus 3 short essay responds , attendance and participation. Lectures are boring , but if you show up and take notes you should pass.
Good professor, solid course material. Wish he had subtitles on his video lectures, though! Beware of textbook - I never opened it once in the entire semester; everything in the textbook was in the lectures/.pdf handouts. Grades hard, so no slacking or copy-pasting.
Took this class as an elective for an associate degree. I am a first responder, not an art major, I thought this was an "intro" to art but that it is not! I understand being passionate about your subject but he is way to serious, grades very tough and doesn't give enough time on tests. Do not take this class too hard and boring for an elective.
His exams are way too hard and he doesn't go over the material enough that he tests on.
I would definitely take him again if I could! He was a great teacher and I HIGHLY recommend him. Its plain and simple: if you attend class you will do very well. His exams are just like his study guides. On the Final I received a 99! He is very good at responding back to emails. He wants to help out in any way for you to do good in his class.
I take online classes because I am a better reader than I am a listener. Mr. Meek actually records his lectures from a live class which you sit and listen to. If I had to take it again I just wouldn't take it in the summer because it would have been easier schedule wise for the museum visits. Overall, very good class I'm happy with my choice.
Do not take this professor! he will spend like a week talking about a couple questions and is always behind on the material. so since we hardly learn anything I didn't think he would grade roughly on the presentations and exams but he does. He expects us to know everything that he hasn't even taught us.
Do not take him! I took him for a online.. he is tough grader. And he expects everything in exam format but only states 4-6 sentences. Then when you answer all the questions he still gives you a bad grade on it. Also everything on his exams/quizzes are not what he teaches !Horrible!!
Beware this class.
Gives a museum project stating mandatory use 7 terms from a group of 7 categories totaling 7(1 per category)&stated that we could use 3 terms from any section(directions, Meek). Sarcastically commented on how silly I was for misunderstanding but doing well in other areas& gave 0 credit for the 3. Poor communication/announcements. 0 extra credit.
While his class may be rough, if you participate, show up, and are respectful you should have limited trouble communicating and asking questions. Put in the effort and you will succeed.
Things included in HUM 1020 class: 1)Two exams 2) One group project where you need to attend 3 events at campus. 3) Readings with 10 or less questions for each one. 4) Two extra credit opportunities.5 points from each one. 5) In the group project if you attend the 4th event you will get another 5 extra point.
Professor Meek is an awesome instructor; he knows what he's talking about. I took his class online as an elective, and it came out to be a tough pick. Don't take this class if you think you're gonna breeze through, you're not. His tests are very tough, you have to know the material to pass.
Do not take this class unless you are an art major. The material in the lecture is not what you will be tested on. There are two 45min to 1 hr lectures per week, complete with long periods of barely audible class dialogue; very long winded and boring. The professor sent out an email that he will begin to grade harder after the first test. Beware!
For a humanities professor he doesn't seem very... human.
Avoid this class at all costs unless you're an art major. Two lectures every week with a quiz. Closed notes. His exams have essay questions and he says if your answer is too close to what he taught, you get a 0.
Mr. Meeks is a pretty good teacher. He is passionate about his work, and that he enjoys teaching. However, he is VERY lecture-based, note heavy, and you need to show up to class or you are going to be behind. If you participate/study for tests you should be fine. Downfall is the 2 required outside of class events that he makes you write about.
He will get sidetracked and do a whole mini lecture before he gets back on topic. Half of the time I was on my phone because one stupid (yes there are stupid questions) will have him on a spiral where were not even talking about the topic anymore. Im there to learn not to get sidetracked on someone wanting to react to Descartes name.
Prof Meek is an intelligent, well-spoken educator. His class, however, is awful. I am taking it online and have to listen to pre-recorded lecture videos, they are from a previous class and he asks questions constantly, the answers are inaudible and very disruptive. The unit exams are timed there are 4 essays each. Worst tests ever taken! AWFUL !
Would NOT recommend. He didnt even teach! He just sat at the front of the classroom talking about whatever subject we happened to be learning. Also, homework is ONLY reading pages & pages of literature w/ comprehension Qs after. No interactive lessons at all. He also has a terrible temper tantrum, which makes him intimidating & yell a lot.
Prof Meeks class is heavy on lecture. Your grade is based on 3 exams and 2 mandatory events. He is a tough grader; tests are multiple choice and have 3 short essay problems. Expects you to fully know the material, however his exam review says what to know for the test. ATTEND class or you will miss out on notes! He's a very passionate professor!
I am a UT student taking this class online during the 6 week summer course. I was not sure what to expect but I am so glad I took it with him but would recommend taking it online. His lectures are long and there are quizzes for each chapter and the exams are hard, but his lectures are so good and what he says sticks with you and you really learn.
I took this class as a make up for failing this once (again with a horrible professor) & this class makes no sense. I wrote down the quiz questions at the end of my notes & he had no idea where the questions came from. Does not check up on his student & gives very strict grading rules. Quizzes are not open book, open note, & are not easy.
DOOOOO NOTTTT TAKE HIS CLASS
TOUGH GRADER! Will require 40 pages of hand written notes as a graded submission that can make or break you. A ton of reading. Maintaining my 4.0 was difficult because all of the subjective grading on his part. Follow instructions to a T. He took points off my final paper for writing 438 words, instead of 400, and he didn't specify not to go over.
Travis is a pretty hands-off professor but will respond if you contact him. He was extremely particular on how he wants everything, but doesn't tell you until sometimes after the fact. Follow each rubric 100% and you may get the highest grade on an assignment or test and hope he curves the grade (which he did occasionally because many failed).
I would never recommend a teacher like Travis he acts like he taught at a university he is too ahead of his self and he doesn't listen. He does not answer emails. Please do not take him thank me later
He is passive-aggressive in his emails, when he gives you a study guide you might as well read the entire chapter again because it' literally so broad and general that you have no idea what to really focus on (he pretends as if this isn't tons of information for people to take on), he does not reach out, didn't know we had a study guide til I asked
So much reading and note taking. Unbelievably time consuming. If you are not majoring in Arts DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Do not take this professor! The class is easy but only if it s taught by someone's else. His grading criteria is unknown. he starts you with a zero. He s sarcastic when he answers his emails and arrogant. Passive aggressive is right. He likes to fail his students. He does not help you. His tests are difficult. Dont take his classes
Uses honorlock which is horrible, have to buy a book and write 40 pages of notes
I literally dropped this course after reading the syllabus. He wants a 40 page lecture notes to be submitted at the end of the term and the best part is it HAS TO BE HANDWIRTTEN! Like what? It's 2021 we don't live in caves anymore and writing on rocks. There's not even enough content to cover 40 pages. I can't believe professors like this exist.
This is the worst professor at HCC. I would never recommend anyone to even speak to him. He's rude. I asked for suggestions for the class and he told me to rewatch his two hour long weekly lectures. And he expects you to remember every detail from these lectures. Looking at the average grade on all assignment they're always under a 50.
HEAVY textbook reading to even pass his quizzes and 40 PAGES OF HAND WRITTEN NOTES due over Thanksgiving break. If you dont read the syllabus fully youll never see it because Meeks never said a word my entire online class except to critique work. An Intro course should not be this heavy. If youre a Humanities major good luck!
I definitely wouldn't recommend Mr. Meek to people but I also don't think he's a horrible professor. His quizzes do require you to pay attention to the lecture videos heavily. He does require lecture notes submission at the end of the course, which is the downside.
Professor Meek was one of my first teachers at HCC. He is a good teacher and provides excellent feedback. He believes in his students and has an air that makes you comfortable, and want to come to class. I know that the class I took isn't a regular one of his, but you can still figure out his teaching style and ultimately he wants you to succeed.
Mr. Meek expects a lot from his students, as he should. His lectures are riveting, and I would have taken a second class with him if my schedule warranted. Prepare to work, but a class well worth taking in the end.
