He's a really cool guy and the class is pretty easy. Class is boring because it's all powerpoints and lecture but he makes it a decently easy class all together.
He's a cool, easy-going professor. His class is so easy and he made it fun. Mainly powerpoint lectures, some homework, monthly article posts, and 3 exams. No complaints, take him!
Cool guy, just lectures every class but tries to keep it interesting. Not a lot of work, try hard and pay attention and you'll get an A. Coast and you'll get a B or C.
Fantastic course. If you come to class and pay attention to the lectures, it is easy to pick up on the material. Final project was tough, but other than that the class was not too difficult.
A cool guy. Do graded, in-class group work, so attendance is mandatory. Tests aren't easy, but not impossible. Gives a study guide and very little homework. Show up and study for tests, you'll do fine. All lecture slides are online, but he leaves some blank spaces that need filled in. I studied hard to get an A. I would recommend him to a friend!
Technically he is not professor. He grades in whatever he wants. How are students supposed to prepare for the projects when there is NO guidance? When you ask a question why certain points were taken off, he told you that is common sense. It is very difficult to find a professor worse than him.
Im taking Stouffer for Intro to IS, and its not a bad class. The class consists of 3 exams and around 10 in class assignments. As long as you show up to most classes and study each study guide for the tests, the class is pretty easy. He seems like a decent guy, not the best or worst prof Ive had.
In his intro to IS class, there isn't any homework, but there is occasionally in-class assignments. The only other grades in the class are 3 exams. The exams can be pretty difficult, but as long as you show up to class and study, you will pass.
Overall solid class. Lecture heavy. All notes and study outlines posted online. Random easy group work worth 10 points a piece. Show up to class and study slides and youll pass.
Awesome teacher, I learned a lot through this class. I am not a very computer savvy person but I am becoming one due to him. Definitely recommend you take this teacher!!!!!
Worth waking up early for class.
Always keeps the students engaged and aware of the important information that is being covered by holding scrums to improve analytical and problem solving skills.
Overall, great professor. Class was not mandatory, but he would give random scrum assignments. Lectured every class. No homework. Only grades were from the three exams and scrums.
Gives good feedback Very engaging Funny
As a professor, he's very professional and clear with lectures and assignments and he presents the material in a very organized way. This particular class is very low-pressure with material that isn't difficult to understand at all. Exams are the only worry because there are very few questions (about 25) for multiple chapters.
overall a good teacher, you either like him or you don't and I did. Gives good study guides if you follow the you'll be fine. show up to class so you get points for the group scrums.
The class isn't bad. He lectures every class with scrums occasionally. The class consists of 3 exams and about 10 in-class assignments (scrums). Uploads study guides and power points online. Study the study guides to prepare for the tests. Each test is only 25 questions. Don't need the book for class. Overall, not a bad class.
Good professor. Class extremely boring tho.
Class was focused on lectures with interesting material but if you don't show up you don't pass. His exams are only 20 questions so make sure to study that study guide
He's very adamant about not cheating in class and all electronics should be put away. Overall a pretty easy class. Probably wouldn't recommend to a non-IS major just because there are easier intro courses to cover your gen eds but if you do take this class it's very easy.
has in class assignments given at random so he makes it a point to always show up for class.
Travis is all about tough love. His grades can be harsh, but they're fair. He gives good feedback so you do learn from your mistakes. It's not an easy A, but an A is possible if you pay attention throughout lectures and work hard on your projects. There are group projects, but he is good about putting people together who will work well together.
If you just study the material, an A is very obtainable. He makes the lectures interesting and adds a lot of his personal experience and humor to the learning experience making the class much more enjoyable than others. Exams are small, which in turn makes each question very weighted. One missed question will drop you 5%.
It is a project based class and only one exam is given. You quickly learn what his grading style is like and what he wants to see in projects. He always supplies you with feedback and why he deducted points. It is very important to attend class or you will be lost. Overall, a good class but you work for your grade.
Tough grader at times but gives good feedback. Can tell he really wants to prepare people for the real world and cares that are successful in our future jobs
I took this class as a sophomore and it was very lecture heavy. There were in class assignments that could not be made up if you missed them. There were 4 tests. That is what made up your grade. Overall not bad, a little boring but he wasn't awful to take.
He is a hard grader, but he makes sure you understand the material.
Semi-difficult class but you learn a lot of cool things. I would recommend taking if you're a tech person. Gives good feedback on projects, and cares about his students.
Very lecture heavy course, but the projects pick up during the end of the semester. Try to attend every class, stay on top of the material, and do not procrastinate. There is only one exam for the entire semester.
Don't skip class cause you wont pass the only exam he gives you. He gives many group projects and changes the groups up so you never know who will be in your group. Is a hard-ass when comes to grading but gives helpful feedback.
Great at giving lectures in class. Studying should get you a good grade on exams. Random group projects in class. Annoying to see him kick people out class for being on devices or sleeping.
Hes a pretty good professor. I like the scrums.
He gives random in class assignments and always uses powerpoint to lecture. The class is not an easy A, but it is not hard to pass.
Travis is a good professor, but gives really harsh feedback on projects. It's like this for all his classes.
You need to attend class and pay attention or else you will fall behind. He does not like to repeat himself, but will help you if you attend class regularly and put forth the effort in the class.
Great professor
He is a very good overall teacher. He is sarcastic, yet helpful. If you are struggling, go to his office hours. He explains things well inside and out of class. He tries to get you to visualize things as he's teaching them. Overall, I would definitely take him again.
The class is fairly simple and easy for you to do well. If you show up and stay on top of the lectures and the coding in class you have a good chance to do well. Travis is an easy going and fun guy but also makes you work for your grade. I would definitely recommend taking Travis and this class!
Web Development is a class that challenged me and kept me interested and excited about being able to learn new skills and tools. Creating the website was pretty cool.
You need to attend class to learn the skills needed for the group projects. He is a tough grader, but will give you feedback on how to improve your skills for your future career. He will often group people together by their current grades/skill level so make sure to start the class off on a good foot if you want to be put in a better group.
In this class, I learn lots of things. This class was superb. If you come to the class and pay attention than you don't have to even study for the quiz. there will be no exams, only 4-5 quizzes. and quizzes are not hard if you go will powerpoints, than you can get A easily. I think this was the best class, I ever have. Professor Travis is the best.
He can go from having a good time, laughing, having fun teaching, but if someone doesn't understand a concept, it changes his mood. He doesn't punish or yell, but you can tell that he's bothered. He demonstrates more than other professors. Outside assignments can be slightly hard too, and he wants you to figure out things by yourself.
I took web development with him this semester. As long as you pay attention, youll be fine. He gives a manageable amount of homework, not too much or too little. The homework helps with the quizzes, so do the homework! There is no final! Just a final project that you submit online which is really nice.
Great class.
Good class.
Great teacher, just go to class and you'll understand.
I loved this class. It was challenging enough to keep you interested but nothing over the top. You must take really good notes to do well in this class but you'll take a lot out of it.
Every day of class is listening to lectures while working on a project that builds on itself. Very easy to succeed if you follow along during class. Nice dude and overall simple class that teaches you the basics behind HTML and CSS.
Awesome Professor to take. Go to class, pay attention, do the work and it will be a simple class.
Would take Stouffer again for other classes. Go to class or you will have no idea what you are doing. Not too much homework. No tests, 4 quizzes throughout the semester. Solid professor and class.
Great teacher, if you go to class, you should pass.
Good teacher and a good class. Would recommend to anyone looking to get into web development, with or without prior experience.
I will always take a class from him if I can. He grades hard and the material is relatively difficult. Show up to class, do the work, learn from his "tough love" and you'll improve. Do not expect an A unless you have heavy HTML coding experience, but do not let that stray you away from him, he is an OUTSTANDING professor
Mostly lectures, does give in class assignments tho. Try not to skip too many classes because those in class assignments does add up. Grades harder when it comes to bigger assignment but just have to follow directions given to get a good grade. Overall, a decent teacher in all aspects.
He is a tough grader and will be hard on you , but you will get more out of his classes then other professors. It is not hard to do well in his classes, you just need to try.
Travis is a great professor that actually cares. As an IS major i have had the opportunity to take Travis for many classes and have enjoyed all of them. He makes you work, but explains and teaches the material very well.
Im here for that extra credit he is offering. However, he is a pretty chill dude.
You have to go to class if you want a decent grade. A lot of real world examples that help you understand the content each class.
Great teacher, outgoing, not too serious with a sense of humor, relatable, all around a great teacher
Make sure you go to class of you'll miss "scrums" which are basically in class assignments that are unannounced that are 10 points a piece. Overall I enjoyed having him
Very cool dude. just make sure you study exams are hard
make sure you go to class he give unannounced in class activities
easy going class
This class is basically just lecturing the entire time. I believe we only had one exam the entire semester. A majority of the points comes from group projects, and if you do not do good on them, you will not do good in the class. Just actually give him a solid effort and you will do fine in his classes.
Great professor overall! Miss class wont pass he has scrums and they are worth 10 points each. Exams are simple but tricky. Overall hes an easy going guy! Stay off your phone and devices.
The class can be challenging but the Stouff is a great guy!
Prof. Stouffer is a great instructor who gives great feedback and is very respected. He grades with tough love but it only makes you better as a student. Would recommend taking any class he is teaching
If you go to class and work hard youll be fine. If you dont youll probably fail.
A great professor if you're in the class to learn. If you are looking for a "good" professor (meaning easy) or a blow off class , then do not take his courses. Expect tough love. He wants you to succeed, but because you earned it. You will thank him for it later. His past successful students are a testament to this.
He is a great professor if you are there to learn the material. You will get great fulfillment out of any of his courses, but he will not hold your hand. He cares if you succeed and shows it through tough love.
If you skip this class you will not pass... There are random in class assignments that are completely unexpected.. If you are not there you will receive a ZERO. If he catches you skip 7x then you will automatically receive a zero for the term. Good guy, but come to class..
He's awful. Way too full of himself. Also, you cant use your computer in an IS class...
One of those out to get you professors, class structure is horrible. 25 question tests scenario based have to be completed in 20 min. He will call on you randomly in class to see if you are paying attention like a petty high school teacher. This dude only cares about himself and can be spotted at woodside on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
I was an Information Systems major prior to taking this class with him. He was my advisor, and was very arrogant and mean towards me went I went to him to ask for help in this course. He looked down upon the class as if he was the smartest professor at this school.
Travis is definitely very knowledgeable of the material that he teaches. However, I think sometimes because he is so invested in tech, he may lose focus of how well other know the material. Overall, He was not a bad teacher. He seems like a good guy and if you aren't fooling around or on your phone, you'll more than likely stay on his good side.
Stouffer is very passionate about what he is teaching. He goes through the power points quick and you might won't have time to take note but if you pay attention to what he says, you will be fine. There are no homework assignments but many opportunities for a bonus point during in class activities. Overall I would take this course again.
In depth lectures on concepts in the information systems space. Strict but fair in class.
Overall, I enjoyed the class. I usually hate lectures, but he was able to keep it interesting and is quite hilarious. Would recommend.
Enjoyed the class overall. If you miss a class, you might miss a scrum that counts as a grade and you're not able to make it up. He does have PowerPoints, but talks more in depth of the subject so you need to pay attention in class
He is a great professor. His lectures are easy to understand the exams are pretty easy if you study. Overall I learned alot in this class.
I thought Professor Stouffer is a very engaging lecturer and his format for his Introduction to IS class is a very straightforward learning experience. I only wish that the student participation sections were more in the middle of lectures because they start to drag when its a 1.5 hour class.
Overall the class isn't too hard there are only a few tests. you have to show up to class because he gives random assignments due in class, which kinda sucks but it aint that bad, other than that the class wasn't bad and I didn't find the tests that bad either.
Travis is really great at what he does.He is very engaging, uses real-life experiences to explain topics, and is very interactive. He is one of my favorite professors. I plan to take more of his classes. However, you have to show up in class for participation, no electronics are allowed, and his test are HARD(study early).Don't fall asleep in class..
He's a good guy overall but there are literally no assignments or points, so you have to rely on his tests. No devices are allowed in an IS class which is so weird.
The class is structured around in-class activities and tests. Attendance is mandatory and will affect your grade. Overall he is a good professor who gives good insight into the world of IS and is very knowledgeable. Just make sure you show up to class and you will pass with a good grade.
Class attendance is definitely mandatory. No homework and only 3 exams, the final is the 3rd exam. The professor assigns in class activities that are worth 10 points each and you never know when he's going to assign them so make sure to go to class if you want to pass. Exams aren't terribly hard and they are fair. There are chances for extra credit
The class is entirely lecture with weekly/bi-weekly small group discussions ('scrums') to collaborate with classmates on topics discussed in class and elaborate more on the material. Attendance is pretty mandatory, but it's worth sitting through. The class is extremely helpful in gaining a ground level understanding of information systems.
In the beginning of the semester, Stouffer seemed to be a very arrogant professor. As the semester went on, he calmed down and became more understanding. Attendance is mandatory, you will receive strikes or a grade change if you miss too much. There are few grades besides exams, so watch out.
Very lecture heavy class. It is important to pay attention in class. Exams are difficult but not impossible if you go to class and put in a little studying. Oh
Absolutely loved this class and Professor Stouffer. There is a lot of information needed to understand for his exams but it is not overwhelming at all. He gives at least a weeks notice and a study guide for the exams. You just have to pay attention in class.
The professor has really good lectures and gives you an abundance of opportunities in class to get easy points. No homework and 3 exams. You will not pass the class if you don't go to class though. Go to class and study hard for exams and you will do well. Overall, I liked the professor and I liked the class it was very interesting.
if you study the power points you should be good
I felt that Professor Stouffer was very informative when listening to lectures. He stresses to be in class because there is a conduct grade which can either help or destroy your grade. I felt this class gets you ready for your major if you are taking information systems.
very straight forward, does not mess around, explains info very well
Very lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory as it's worth a lot of points if you miss any of the groupwork.
The tests are hard if you don't attend class, but overall he's a great professor!
He does not let you off easy. You really have to put significant effort into doing well in his classes. Above all else, just attend class. You definitely retain more from him when you are actually there and engaged.
Great professor. He grades hard and you better attend and pay attention in his classes if you want to pass. Whatever you put into it is what you get out of the class. I would take him again.
He's very difficult and a tough grader but if you're in the IS major it's certainly worth it. He's funny sometimes and gives interesting assignments that prepare you for the exam. As I said though: VERY tough grader. Be warned, you have to come to class or you'll fail.
Stouffer is a tough professor. He grades hard but in return, you get very helpful feedback. His classes have prepared me more for my career than any other professor's.
Travis is an awesome professor and also a really good guy, he can be pretty hard with grading sometimes but that is what makes you a better student and more prepared for the real world. All in all you cant go wrong with any of his classes, you will learn many things that will prepare you for a great future.
Amazing professor who cares for his students and is very well respected. Would definitely recommend and take again.
Professor Stouffer is an amazing professor for people that don't like to learn through a professor reading a book. Travis does have a weird attendance policy. While attendance is not taken, there are in class assignments that will destroy your final grade and your conduct grade.
Professor Stouffer teaches the material clearly and thoroughly. He expects a lot from his students because he knows what will be required of them in the real world. He prepares students for a working environment and shows them what will be expected from them. Overall, he is a great professor and is preparing his students for the future.
He is a thorough and tough grader, and he will not let you off easy. His exams are challenging as well as his assignments, but as long as you attend class and put in good effort, you will do well in this class and any other classes you take with him.
Professor Stouffer treats IS 1435 almost as if you were in a real role in the IS space, and grades based on that expectation. Many assignments are group projects, but if your group works together well on one project, he occasionally allows that group to stay together throughout the semester. His exams are fairly difficult, but not impossible.
Travis is blunt. But in a good way. His real world work experience allows him to apply the information learned to future career paths and job positions. It shows the importance of the class and allows you to engage and take it more seriously. He gives feedback much like a boss would to his employees which at times is frustrating but appreciated.
While he can be a tough grader, in the long run you will learn much more while also getting a lot of feedback from whatever the assignment may be. He offers a lot of great real world examples and explains material in a way that is very easy to grasp. He does not overload you with work and most of the classroom experience is lecture.
He won't help you unless you help yourself. Don't expect him to hold your hand all the way through, if he sees you're struggling and you're a good student he will do what he needs to ensure your success
This class was great always enjoy a trav class
Professor Stouffer bases class and assignments on real-world experiences. Would definitely recommend his classes if you want to be prepared for life after college.
Does not answer questions just says "look at directions" even though the directions are not clear. He sets you up for your future. Tough grader
If you're on your phone, you're kicked out. If you're on your laptop, you're kicked out. Fall asleep because you have to sit through an hour and twenty-minute lecture, and you're kicked out. Exams require at least two weeks of studying. Even the stuff in small text on the slides is going to be on the exam. I changed my minor because of this class.
He uses real world examples for the class and give very good constructive criticism on assignments
Stouffer is a pretty tough teacher when it comes to assignments after he gives the first couple so that you are as closely prepared for a proper job as you can be. It has helped immensely.
I love his classes! I was scared going into this class because he told me it was the hardest class he teaches, however I learned so much and it really wasn't that bad. I believe I will be able to use the skills I learned in this class throughout the rest of my career.
This is a class other students warn you about. It is an intensive and heavy course load. He is a hard grader and attention to detail is needed to succeed. Travis, please provide rubrics for students on all assignments so we can have a visual checklist before turning in a project.
Great proff. he makes learning worth it. I enjoyed going to this class each week. You will get more out of this course then you will in any other course at UPJ.
Travis is loved and hated by some students at UPJ but that's because he has a very tough love teaching style. I personally love how he teaches and he is great as a person and a professor. If you work hard and put your best foot forward, you will gain his respect too. If you slack off and don't pay attention, he will let you know about that too.
Great class to get your foot in the door for IS jobs.
Stouffer's SAD class is a content heavy class covering capturing requirements from a stakeholder and being able to use requirements to create web systems via rapid prototyping, ui/ux design, and wireframes/wireflows/mockups. Class is content heavy but reasonably fair. Multiple resume builders and preparation for workforce in this class. Recommended
He knows what he is talking about and is very knowledgeable, but grades really hard, so pay attention and do not slack off. Get your work done and turned in on time and try your hardest his assignments are not something you can do the night before.
Very knowledgeable in his field and has a surplus of real-world experience in the industry. Expects a lot out of his students, but only to push them past what they think they can do. Lecture heavy but he makes it interesting. Has small assignments to help grades so it is not just based on projects and exams.
Travis is a great professor. This class will definitely test you in many ways. He is not always the clearest when it comes to his expectations but he's still a really good prof. Make sure to pay attention to details. Definitely one of my harder classes but I look forward to coming to his class. Love the jokes about his wife and kids.
Travis is one of my favorite professors at UPJ. Though he can definitely be a tough grader, you will learn more from him than any other professor. Attending lecture and trying your hardest on projects is one of the best ways to learn. Overall, a great professor.
He is really good at teaching but you have to attend all his classes to make sure you succeed or you will fall behind. He may grade things hard but thats mostly because your work isn't the best. However he gives really good feedback on all assignments.
Travis Stouffer is a tough grader, but as you continue through the course, the projects get easier because you get good feedback on what you can do better. You have to push through the rough times, because even though the class is difficult, it is probably one of the most useful classes that I have taken while at UPJ.
Don't expect to get a good grade easily. He teaches to help you get and keep a job. A lot of his projects are based on assignments from his job meaning they are real world experience. He's not an easy professor but he will help prepare you for a real job.
This class is great for a basic understanding of IS. Stouffer is not only a professor but is actively working in the field as well. Given this, the information he has to offer is much more valuable because he is able to give real-life applications.
His lecture is interesting, but I highly doubt anyone would like this professor and his way of teaching. This is a man who doesn't want to build any extent of relations with his students and enjoys putting pain upon equally everyone. If you have the option, DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS RUN!
I found this class useful, but very boring. He gives a good overview of IS but it becomes very repetitive. It is all note taking and you have to study for quizzes, or you will fail. I wouldn't take this class unless you are really interested in IS or are required to. You have to work for the grade you recieve.
Class was an hour 20 mins long and was entirely dedicated to the powerpoint so it definitely was tiring. However this dude is amazing and definitely knows what hes talking about. Quizzes are 60 pts, 3 pts per question so you do get screwed if you miss. I feel like he generates his quizzes with AI, one was so abstract the class average was 50%
This course can be difficult, but if you actually try, you will get a decent grade. He is strict with phones and falling asleep in class, if you struggle with that. His quizzes have Lockdown Browsers. The content of the quizzes are straight from the study guides and slides. He knows what he's talking about because he has experience.
Professor Stouffer runs a tough class, but it's worth the effort. His projects are challenging but provide real-world experience. Staying engaged and using resources like unstuckstudy can help navigate the workload. Definitely one of the more rewarding courses at UPJ.
Literally the easiest WOK I've ever taken. Didn't take notes and barely listened to his lectures. Reviewed the slides with the study guide for an hour the night before a quiz and got a perfect on all of them. If u think this is hard maybe u should drop out and go work at Walmart. He's strict bc otherwise the business freshmen would walk on him.
IS was a hard one for me - study guides don't really align with the test your better off just going over his slide shows. Attendance is mandatory ya never know when there will be an in class activity for 10 pts.
stouffer is one of the best if not the best professor on UPJ's campus. you can tell he genuinely cares about what hes teaching & he wants you to pass. this is not a class where if you dont study you'll still pass, you have to study in order to pass but the material isnt hard you just have to pay attention in class & apply yourself.
