I would not recommened taking any of his class. He's not organize and lack of teaching skills.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had.he was extemely unorganized and was never clear on what he wanted in his assignments. He was extremely unprofessional. I have a 3.8 until i took his class and have been published before. No matter what your paper is its wrong.I even met with him on my rough drafts.he never made sense and I still got C on the
He was terrible. I dropped his class after a few weeks beacuse I could already see where it was going. Avoid him at all cost.
Very skilled, very funny.
By far the best English professor I've ever had. He does expect a lot from students, but if you take the class seriously you get a lot from it. He's almost convinced me to switch my major to English.
He encourages good class discussions. He obviously loves his job, and that helps students get into the stuff too.
I don't see how everyone thinks he is difficult. He is goofy but you can tell he is passionate about what he does and it rubs off on his students. All you have to do is listen, write decent essays (as in, make an effort) and show up and you will be fine. Made me certain that English will take a person far.
awesome teacher
Really smart and funny guy, but don't take him expecting an easy A. He makes class entertaining and is a great guy, but he will make you work for your grade.
These kids complaining about him are BS. Great teacher, VERY passionate about his job. Makes stuff fun and interesting, even if he is a little goofy. I've always had strict English teachers giving me crap technical errors on my papers, and he knows if what you write is legit and grades accordingly. First good English teacher I've ever had.
I find it interesting that most of the good comments written about Mr. Eades have extremely poor sentence structure.
Very competent and not an easy grader ... cool guy and good teacher
Wow, someone doesn't like Mr. Eades. Anyway, he's a great teacher who makes class fun and interesting. The readings are sometimes difficult but the discussions are usually good. He's not close minded at all and seems to go out of his way to be respectful. I really enjoy talking to him outside of class, too.
Trent is a excellent teacher who is passionate about his profession. I enjoyed having him as a instructor and would reccomend him to future students.
Awesome teacher.
This guys loves English a little too much. He expects you to write on a graduate level, not a community college level. If you are not a strong writer (or hate literature), don't take him. There are other instructors that are much less pretentious about English.
One of the best professors I've ever had; I learned a great deal about literature and writing about it. But to get a good grade, be prepared to rewrite.
Best teacher ever!
Had him for world lit II. He is a really cool guy made class meetings very interesting and somewhat enjoyable. It was his first time teaching that class so he had to change the sylabus several times but overal the class was enjoyable and the writing wasnt as bad as I expected it to be. I would recommend taking any of his classes.
Organizational skills need a little work, but his personality makes for a fun class. Your grade is heavily weighed on essays, written in and out of class, so be prepared to do some writing. Also, don't expect to be given anything;you will earn what you get.
This class was a real eye opener. We read many difficult but fascinating essays by people such as Machiavelli, Rousseau, Aristotle, etc., discussed them, and then wrote essays about their ideas. I loved the class. Mr. Eades helped me a lot in writing my essays and gave me good advice about teachers to take in the future.
Amazing class and teacher -- Mr. Eades is funny, thought-provoking, and challenging teacher. We read and wrote about important writers I'd heard about but never read. Taking this class from this teacher was truly a transformative experience. Highly recommended.
Very funny, engaging, and thoughtful. My favorite class this semester.
He's not the most organized professor in the world, but he more than makes up for that by being so enthusiastic and entertaining and willing to work with students. He makes studying literature very fun. This was my favorite class this semester.
Mr. Eades is a very enthusiastic and humorous teacher who really loves & appreciates writing and literature. He gives everyone the opportunity to rewrite to improve their grades. I learnd a lot about writing and literature. Highly recommended.
Eades is cool. He really enjoys what he teaches and is very intelligent. He really encourages students to participate in literary lectures performed at the school. A joy to have as a professor. I had this class early in the morning and his humor got me going. He is very understanding if something happens in your life and you need an extension.
Professor Eades is an awesome professor. He is very easy to get along with and makes learning about literature awesome. Do these three things and you'll do fine: Brush up on the rules of writing, be concise, and do not retell the story you are writing about. Also, learn the requirements of each paper (at least a week before it's due (office)).
Excellent professor. He's not only passionate about the subject, but dedicated to his profession, and is more than willing to take discussions out of the classroom. Should you happen to become enamored of a certain author, he is happy to inform you about more of their works. Careful though, he expects a lot from his students.
Trent is a good teacher. I had him over the summer for ENG 1010, if you turn in your essays on time he will grade them, write on them where it needs improvments and then hand them back to you. You will have one week to turn in your essays for a better grade. He is very helpful I would def take him again.
He is an awesome instructor. I defiantly recommend him. Students love him for how he grades papers. He will probably wear a Felix cat t-shirt with a black sports coat and black pants. I only saw him in something different on one occasion.
Not helpful and you will prob get a c if you take is class. He is nice but nice is not all you need in a teacher! I would not take his class.
Trent was great! I hate writing for the most part. We did do quite a bit of reading and we had to write on one of several topics in regards to the readings. Once you get your papers back, you had time to correct them for a better grade. I really enjoed the readings and the time in Trent's class. He is more than willing to help all he can.
This guy is really lazy/careless so i didn't put that much effort into his class. He looks smart but he's pretty laid back and encourages class participation. I didn't really understand exactly what he wanted in the essays so i wrote whatever i could last minute. His comments on papers are really not helpful or relevant to the topic. Waste of time.
One of the best professors I have ever had. His knowledge of and enthusiasm for literature is impressive. He doesn't hand out good grades, but if you make the effort to see him in his office, he is always willing to help you improve your writing. If you just want to go through the motions, take another teacher.
Eades is one of the most enthusiastic professors Ive ever had at Pstcc! You almost always have a reading assignment, which he goes over the next day... almost making it unforgettable when its time for the exam! Loved his class!
AWESOME teacher! very funny so it makes the class class go faster! great overall professor
I hadn't been to school in over 20 years and was'nt sure what to think. Eades made my first class of the day awesome. He truly opened me up to humanities greatest minds and made learning fun.
Mr. Eades is nice AND funny but for those of you who struggle in English I don't recommend him. I feel like I am always left hanging when I am confused. He is very very intellectual so I always feel stupid when I ask questions or get help on my papers. But for those of you who are really good at English I would recommend him because he will make you enjoy the class and the assignments shouldn't be that hard on you.
I've never had a professor like Mr. Eades before. He is genuinely interested in the big questions, and genuinely interested in engaging students. He encourages critical thinking and testing assumptions. Highly recommended.
Excellent! Very cool professor. Take him!
Wonderful person and has great ideas, but he was often late and unprepared. He communicates well and has a great sense of humor. He grades a bit hard, but gives second chances. I would not take his class again.. but I did enjoy the one class I had him for.
Mr. Eades is at times condescending. I felt that he was an unfair grader, I've always been an A student and I could barely manage a C in his class. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS you'll feel lost and confused by his essay prompts they are often vague. His passion for Eglish doesn't outweigh the frustration you'll feel from his class.
Mr. Eades is fair, funny, and very enthusiastic about literature. I learned a lot about writing about literature in his class.
I hate composition classes, but Mr. Eades made this really interesting. I didn't expect to do as well as I did. He gives you ample time to write your papers and will give them back to you with notes as to what corrections are needed so you have another chance. He is enthrusiastice and very interesting. I took this in the summer. AWESOME class!
Awesome Professor I had Eades for Comp 2 and British Lit. I found Brit Lit to be harder than I expected but Eades went over everything before the exams. He is tough but you have to show up to class and show interest as well. So if you are struggling and you don't go meet with him for help, then it's really your own damn fault.
He is the easiest English teacher ever! The only work you do is essays and he gives you ample time to complete them. He is very interesting and easy to listen to. He is so passionate about literature. This is the 1st English class I've made higher than a C...Super easy and half the time he doesn't take role
He's very nice and if you need help he will answer any question you have. His discussions in class keep you on your toes and he makes it worth being in class. Take his class!
Very enthusiastic professor. Makes reading and discussing the literature very enjoyable. Tests are a bit tough but he provides study guides. Nice guy, easy to get along with.
He's an alright professor. Not a very easy grader. There are definitely easier professors. He has an interesting teaching style, but I wasn't really a fan of it
He is a tough essay grader, and can be really offensive. Told us in the begining of the class that the little pop quizes do not qount towards our grades, but then at the end said surprise, they were. So many of us suffered. He also has four essays required, of which the average for all of them was a C.
He makes class interesting and is very helpful and respectful. He likes what he teaches very much and that helped me appreciate it.
He's cool.
He's cool, and made class interesting.
Prof. Eades is the best in class. His lectures are very interesting and he is very well educated in English. He's great at working with you and making sure you pass. Would love to take Eades for all English and Lit classes.
Gives TONS of papers to read and then write an essay on them, hard grader but if you need help with something he is there for you.
Trent Eades is a cool guy, he cracks up in class. He does assign lots of reading, but he talks about it the next class. He is a tough grader, but I managed to get by with a B+. Overall, he is a nice, helpful guy and a good professor.
This class is time consuming (I took western literature) it's a lot of reading and he wasn't very helpful when I asked questions. He's funny but also has a bad attitude
Took Trent Eades for World Lit 2 and I have to say he is a fun teacher and is very relaxed. As long as you keep up with the assigned readings you will get an A on the test. No homework and as long you participate he won't give the class quizzes. Also a very easy grader when it comes to the paper which in my class was only one. Highly recommend him!
Professor Eades is a very laid-back guy. Most of the class was just him going over the reading material and making sure we read and understood it. I do wish he had incorporated more class discussion. Tests were moderately difficult - really needed to know the material and a few short answers. Overall, he's a caring and cool guy.
Eades is definitely one of my favorites. He is very laid back and will work with you if you need help. He is a little harder on grading, but he will let you rewrite a paper for a higher grade. There was a total of 5 essays and the final was a research paper. A lot of readings, but goes over them the next class day. Very helpful. DO RECOMMEND.
Grading consisted of 4 test which he drops the lowest and an essay. As long as you come to class and take notes, do the readings and participate in the lectures this class is an easy A. He was a great teacher who literally gives you all of the answers in the discussion as well as a complete study guide. He was super lenient on his grading as well.
Doesnt teach in a traditional way, he is very laid back and wants class to be comfortable and enjoyable. Readings are essential to passing. He is good about going over readings so you get a better understanding. He gives great feedback and you can rewrite papers if you're not happy with your grade. Wish I could take him for every ENG class!
Very cool class. He makes the literature very interesting. The tests are a bit hard but not to bad if you read everything. Best English class I've ever had.
Eades is funny and enjoys discussion in his classroom. You need to read before class though, he will be offended if you routinely come to class for "story time" instead of to learn and discuss the material. He is a tough grader, but is very happy to give instructive feedback to help you out. He is a bit sarcastic, but in a joking way. He's not mean.
Mr. Eades was a good professor. There were reading assignments everyday. In class, he would discuss the reading from the previous night. There was one paper and four tests. There were study guides for each test. I never read the material, just used Sparknotes and made A's and one B on the tests. I would take this teacher again, he was pretty funny.
This professor is extremely funny. I didn't like poetry until I took his class and now have a better appreciation for it. There are a few essay assignments but they are very reasonable and the professor is a very fair grader. The professor is very willing to answer questions and explain things until you know the topic very well.
Very quirky and funny. Tests are general about each story. As long as you read/ or show up every day for lecture you will be fine!
Took him for summer lit and he was awesome! Super hilarious, and gives good lectures. It does require a lot of reading, but as long as you read and pay attention in his class, you'll pass easily. He does like a lot of class participation though, so keep that in mind. I'd recommend him to anyone looking to take modern american literature!
Simply the best! Professor Eades' class was the highlight of my day. Engaging lectures and a real effort to provide each student with the opportunity to reach their potential. Demonstrates a passion for the written language and higher thought without the slightest trace of a sense of superiority. Helpful and encouraging feedback. Take this class!
I'm sure there are many people that would enjoy Mr. Eades teaching style, but even as someone who enjoys literature and english, I was bored every single class. I'm not sure why this class was so boring to me, but the whole class felt pointless. Maybe it wasn't challenging enough? Not sure. Just didn't seem professional and I wasn't impressed.
Professor Eades was m y favorite professor this semester. You had to do a lot of writing, but he lets you rewrite, and is always happy to sit down and work with you on your essays. He makes the sometimes boring material interesting. I would definitely take him again.
He's a cool guy and very understanding, but he actually has no concept of the fact that some people might not enjoy this material as much as he does. There was SO MUCH WORK. I was completely burned out by the end. Multiple quizzes every week, long tests with essays included in them, a project for the end, and discussion posts every week. Too much.
Eades is one of the best professors at PSCC! This was an inaugural European Lit class HE designed & books were from Homer, Virgil, Dante & Milton. I read my butt off, but learned so much!! Weekly quizzes & exams were straight-forward. Eades's passion/enthusiasm for Lit was contagious during Zooms, & he encouraged us all when material was new/hard.
In Eades' Epic Literature course, we read The Ilaid, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Dante's Inferno, and Paradise Lost. If you have any interest in epic poetry and you don't mind reading a reasonably ambitious amount of material, I highly recommend this course. This is the third class I have taken with Eades. Eades is reasonable, approachable, and fun.
I loved this class! It was heavy in reading but the readings are cool! It's a literature class on classic epics so of course you have to read! But he is funny and really cares about his students and their learning. 100% would take him again! He really cares about the material and is always appreciative of student input if you have suggestions.
this was Dual Enrollment. I am very good at english. Each essay was 20% of our grade (4 essays), the rest made up of random quizzes. he was a horrible grader. very tough with minimal feedback, leaving NO room to fix mistakes. you can redo your essays, but he RARELY gives any credit back. I talked to him and eventually earned an A. BARELY.
I absolutely enjoyed his class! He is very passionate about literature and it shows. There is quite a lot of reading, if youre looking for the easy way out thanks again. The tests were very specific with the reading material, so you will definitely have to read. There is a term paper you have to write, it is easy to write if you pay attention.
I enjoyed having Professor Eades. He was a really nice guy and would always help you if you needed it. I think this class was a little harder for me because it was online though. He lets you rewrite your papers to improve the score which I loved. He's just a really nice guy who wants you to do well. I recommend!
I had Professor Eades for English 1020 as a dual enrollment student. Although I am not a fan of English, he made the class enjoyable! His feedback on essays made me a much better writer and I’m so grateful to have been in his class!
this guy had one of the worst grading scales of all time he would contradict him self all the time when he was grading papers. he would say this is too long then say that you didn't explain enough. don't take not worth it.
Professor Eades is definitely a harsh grader, and I think his grading scale is a little peeving at times when it comes to essays. He highly values conciseness in essays and it will hurt your grade if you use flowery language. However, you can revise papers for a higher grade, he is very friendly, and he is willing to help you. DON'T PROCRASTINATE!!
We did 6 essay's over the semester, increasing in length with each. He is very negotiable about the topics you write about, he wants you to actually be interested in what you are writing, and did a lot to explain how and why you need to edit your writing certain ways. Very easy-going person, didn't make me feel stressed at all.
I took Eades for 1020 and loved him so much I took his European Lit class for my English elective. Super passionate about literature, and he is very apt at dissecting tough texts. Zoom sessions were mandatory every few weeks, but they were very informative. Absolutely phenomenal guy both in and out of class.
Professor Eades was a really tough grader but I definitely grew as a writer in his class. He was super accessible, would read over your work beforehand, and gave good feedback. He lets you revise your papers for up to one letter grade higher. I was challenged but really enjoyed his class.
The class was fun and a great contrast to my difficult Math and Science classes. Professor Eades also challenged my writing abilitly. When I received a B on my first paper, I made appointment with him and got the feedback I needed. I passed the classed with an A, and took English with him the next semester as well! Awesome Professor!
The essay grading was based on criticisms that were either overly critical or too vague to understand. Many of the things he told me went against everything I have ever been taught throughout school and made no sense. One of my essays was misgraded and when I asked about it he admitted it was graded wrong, but did not offer to give points back.
Overall, he was a great teacher and provided us with lots of materials for the class and even did optional zoom calls to go over some of the readings we would do that we would have to base our essays off of. He was a REALLY tough grader and it is very hard to make an A in his class. His class isn't challenging but his grading is horrible.
