HES THE BESSSSSSSSSSSSST
Can Be Boring
No Comments
can be a little boring but he knows what hes talking about. Test are easy as long as u take notes.
frequent absences which may not be to ur advantage. tends to go off topic, uses a choppy text. trys to be nice and helpful, tho.
Hes an excellent teacher and he doesnt make it as boring as it should. Very easy to talk to
had him for 1000c a while ago- one of the greatest professors i've had since then- he cares about his students and takes everything into consideration... made philosophy interesting!
he's a ****
Very easy, professional, bright, and practical. Can get boring but can be very interesting. Very easy to talk to. Participate and keep up on the journal.
He was a great teacher, I took his classes twice!
class is really boring but hes really good looking so that keeps your attention
Very intelligent and knows what he talks about. He answers all your questions and will respect your views. Take him if you want to learn.
He is a great professor. He knows his stuff, the class can get boring sometimes but its easy.
good professor smart only has to major test midterm and final and term paper
hes pretty good, as long as you take good notes and study for tests.
One of the best and truely genuine persons at SJU. For most people phil. isn't interesting, but he makes it as easy as possible to understand. I never found him boring and its a hard subject to teach. Tests all straight forward, so if u listen u do well.
Took his night class.. we never stayed longer than 2 hrs. we had a midterm, termpaper and final ALL TAKE HOME! that was it.. Really nice guy and easy to understand. If you have the chance to take his class do it!
I don't really get philsophy, though I've tried very hard to. He's a really great professor though, cares about his students, and has a passion for the subject. Class discussions are really interesting.
all this class consisted of was reading assignments and journal entries. there was a final paper and a presentation as well. the paper and presentation were easy but the reading was a pain and his lectures are usually boring.
i really liked this guy,but his notes are horrible.it makes no sense in studying them.he is a good teacher for someone who is a philo major, but not for someone like me who is just tryingto fulfill a requirement.nice guy but only ifluv philosophy.leniant
if you're someone like me who doesnt really care about phil, then he's a good prof. he keeps you interested, and his tests are soo straight forward, he gives you a review sheet of about 20 questions and you have to answer about half of them on both the midterm and final.. take him
For the honors course, no tests. Instead you have a short presentation, a term paper, class participation and a journal. The journal can get really annoying but if you keep up with it you should be all right. Class gets very boring at times, but should be an A if you do well on presentation, etc.
gives very boring lectures but he does understand that not every student enjoys philosophy....questions on exams are general, nothing specific. he gives a review sheet that has the questions that will be on the exam...only 2 exams (midterm and final)...tests only consist of essays
easy prof...too much reading material, but gives out the questions that will be on tests..pay attention and u will do fine...easy A...
Awesome dude....Totally understands that we aren't there to learn philosophy cause we want to. Pay attention in class...Take the review sheet to heart....HOT HOT HOT....
he talks to much about nothing .. and hes boreing
The honors course is diff than the regular course. Journal, participation, presentation + term paper. Overall nice teacher but boring and very single minded (if u dont agree than u better have a hell of a reason why. Not much physical work but a hard grader nevertheless. GL!
he is a cool guy..But im sorry i jus couldnt allow myself to 90mins of pure boredom..he really likes philo.. -you can tell that off the back..But his midterms are strait..take good notes or copy them off someone who does,- if you not gonna read the book. GOOD TEACHER
I though the class was boring because it was ninety minutes. No tests in the honors class which was very nice! keep up with the journal and you will be fine. Dr. Hamann is very easygoing about topics for the final paper and presentation... choose something you like. He was very helpful to me and I got an A in the class. I would take him again.
um ilovehim, he's so laid back & an easy grader. Believe me I was shocked & amazed to get an A- on both my midterm + final. If i graded my test I would've given myself a C. I was late to class whenever I decided to go & my final grade was a A- go figure. and this is why i love this man.
Cute, smart, interesting, and a fair grader. Highly recommended!!
he is a really great teacher. i suggest you take him! he only gives a midterm and a final. and i thought i did horrible on it but ended up getting a A-.
I had this guy during my brief stay at Hofstra. He's cool just do the work u'll be alright
He's a good professor, he analyzes everything really well and really helps you to understand the material, his only fault may be that he tends to like it when the student agrees with the philosopher, i guess he feels that that proves that the student understood it, so in the journals/essays make sure you do not argue the philosopher too much
good professor, keep a journal for the entire class, one presentation, one paper, you'll be fine
hes great for a number of reasons. 1. no exams at all 2. keeping the journal which he reads EVERY word u write 3. one long paper that he can be harsh on grading.. but overall, i think its a good class especially class discussions where it kills the time quicker and faster. take him for honors if u can or higher philosophy like feminism.

He's not as easy as I thought he would be. He gives review sheets for what's going to be on the final and midterm but doesn't go over all the questions so you have to take notes in class. He talks fast and usually doesn't repeat stuff unless you ask him to. He's a very very nice person but his tests are hard.
He is just a cool Prof. Not too tight, just right. It's not that hard to get an A, the key is participation.
A classic professor that only gives a midterm and a final.. participation is the other component, but there is barely any time to speak because his lectures are nonstop-chatter. Just make sure you understand each and every word that comes out of his mouth and onto the board - NEVER hesitate to ask questions.. if you do, you're not going to do well.
Cool professor but if you don't raise your hand, he will count it against you. But on contrary it can help you because participation is 1/3 of your grade. He is very clear but does drone on sometimes so when you had a long night from homework... may Jesus bless you.
A great professor. Highly reccommend him. He loves philosophy, but knows that not everyone likes the subject. only gives a midterm and final, multiple choice. very repetitive but it is helpful. he can be boring at times so bring your coffee to keep you up! Overall I think he is great. I would take him again if I could.
The best professor at stjohns. Wish he was chemistry professor.
For his PHI 1000 class, there's only midterm, final, and attendance/partipication. He gives review sheets for midterm + final, both 25 q's with 2 essay. Fairly easy. Dr. Haman tends to be repetitive, which is good if u r slow writer, but i tend to get bored. Really laid back, he does take attendance though. Easy A if you study and care.
Hands down the best professor at St. Johns. He actually makes Phiolosophy managable and interesting. Midterm & Final. Gives reviews for the tests. TAKE NOTES and you wont have to read anything.
Prof. Hamann is so great! For me, his lectures were really interesting and I actually did learn. If you do the readings, you'll have a better understanding of the material. He gives review sheets for both the midterm and final, and goes over some of the questions. Go over and memorize everything on the review sheet and you'll be fine.
makes phi 1000 too difficult to get the easy A it should be. lectures are boring for most people and he's a hard grader, and studying for his midterm + final is too much. take someone else
Great Professor, Tests are simple if you read the text and pay attention. Philo Prof. can be pretty unclear but Dr. Hamann makes sure everyone understands what he is talking aobut. TAKE NOTES!! if i took notes i would have gotten an A. Made out with a B with just reading the books. Gives a midterm and a final, and a few little quizes.
Cool professor, just gotta get to class and do the work.
make sure you're him!
He is awesome!! take him hes very straight foward and just wants everyone to understand. no homework or papers and just two tests make sure you study for them!! Show up and take notes read the text and ask questions he likes them take him take him!! he is awesome
Dr. Hamann is such a nice person, not to mention handsome, its such a shame hes sucks so much as a teacher. He should write a book and call it a day. He bored the hell out of me in class and made philosophy a disgusting subject. This class was my worst and most painful to sit through, never again!
he's an awesome philosophy professor! very straight-forward. just make sure you pay attention to what he says in class. i didn't actually read everything that was assigned but i still got an A. he's so nice!!

Make sure you go to class and take notes. You dont really have to read everything he assigns, but it definitely will help you understand his lectures better.Only had two assignments:take home midterm and final paper. Also had a final exam which was pretty easy.He gives review sessions before the assignments which pretty much give you the answers.
so boring.. talks in circles u dnt have h.w. only 2 tests but stay away unless u LOVE philo seriously.. not the easy A it has to be therz better teachers out ther
I cant believe this guy.. he soo screwed me overr!!! hes extremly boringg, jus bring your laptop and take notes when he talks. But serioulsyyy get someone else if you can!
He's a good professor just take lots of notes and you won't get bored he's a saint compared to other phil professors i've had cough (Piper) cough He actually e-mails you back if you have a question and helps you out after class as well. Not too hard just do really good on the paper. Study for the exams he gives you the questions
Guy is way too fast and needs to stop reading off his laptop for 1 hr+. so boring talks in circles. it was my first semester being exposed to philosophy and i hated it already. find someone else i am serious.
He's a good teacher. He's only boring when I don't listen and don't try to understand what he says. If you actually try, the class time flies by. He's cute too and has a mac :)
insanely boring class. class starts at 3 and bt 3:05 im already sleeping. makes philosophy harder than organic chemistry. if ur smart you will avoid this class. he made phi 1000 harder than what i take now- metaphysics
Insanely boring class. class starts at 3:00 and by 3:05 im already asleep. made phi 1000 incredibly difficult for a core class. heck i thought it was harder than dr browns chem class. even BROWN was a better professor. just reads off laptop for 90+ min and philophosizes on things like desk, tree, squirrel. GOSH get up and write on the board
who made this guy a professor!? ugh boring, goes on and on about nothing, and horrible grader! made phil an even worser subject
if ur smart ur gonna listen and avoid this class. first time being exposed to the world of philosophy and i hate it already
I thought he was a really good teacher. I didnt think it was boring at all, but i was also pretty interested in what was being taught. It might not be for freshman but it is a good class
HATE him. studied forever for his exams and found none of them to be doable. you can say i hate philosophy because of this class
2 response papers, 1 midterm & final for this professor. u should not miss 25% of his lectures. thats all he does -- lectures. he asks questions and whatnot. make sure you read your books. he got really annoyed 1 day when he asked a question & no1 answered so he dismissed class. Not an easy A but okay i guess. he's alright if Philosophy is ur thing.

His classes are really boring. Well, philosophy is a boring subject to most people. There is one paper, midterm, and final. Midterm and final wouldn't be that hard for you if you take notes in the class. But, he grades the paper pretty hardly. That one paper brought my grade down from A to A-. Overall, he is an okay professor.
I had him for Ethics. Attendance = mandatory. I hate philosophy and did poorly at first but he was nice enough to give me an extra credit paper. I ended up doing pretty well towards the end thanks to the extra credit, final paper and the final. His lectures tend to be boring but he's really nice and will help you do well if you just ask.
2 response papers, midterm, final, he lectures and pretty much goes over everything you need to know for the midterm and final. they're not cumulative which is always a plus,he gives out a study guide and pretty much goes over anything you ask him to,if you email him with questions he'll email you back with detailed answers, get the textbook it hel
Insanely boring class. Class starts at 3 and by 3:05 im already asleep. Just sits there reading verbatim off his laptop for 90+ minutes. Made philosophy 1000 insanely difficult for a core class. Thought that it was harder than organic chem and even BROWN is a better professor than this guy. take califano if u want an easy A
The fact that people consider this guy hard is testament to the type of students St. John's admits. Philosophy first and foremost requires critical thinking. I graduated as a biology major and they say the most disparate fields are philosophy and science. But this man broke down some of Nietzsche's toughest works so much so that I read them now.
Could not have been more boring. The tests are hard, probably because he is a harsh grader. I would avoid taking him.
LOVE HIMM!!!He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to participate soo badly and wants to answer your questions. Kinda boring in class. A couple of unannounced quizes, but if you do the reading you'll be fine. tests arent bad he gives you a review sheet and goes over it in class, if you can do the review sheet you'll do great.
reading all these comments, i thought he was horrible, but he's actually GREAT. i took him for honors and wish i had him again! i love him! very motivated and helpful. sometimes repeats himself and can be boring at times, but he tries his best and wants an active participating class. very very kind. and cute :)
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!! Just come to class, pay attention and good notes and you'll get A. JUST STUDY REVIEW SHEET TOO! most important thing to get A is review sheet and pop quizzes just write a lot, anything you say about the question.
if you study your notes and the review sheet u're set for the test. he gives only final and midterm, and 5 pop quizes. you definately have to read the material, and attendance is mandatory. He is not such a harsh grader.
A very good introduction to philosophy. He is very well read and can explain his ideas well. 2 exams (multiple choice and essay) and one term paper (for Honors) or reading quizzes (for non-Honors). Focuses on Plato, Descartes, Marx, Freud, and Sartre. Buy the books and actually read them; he makes a lot more sense if you read.
Easy for the honor students, but take someone else for the sake of your GPA...I should have listened to my friend!
If you're taking PHI 1000 for the first time, avoid taking his classes. I dreaded one minute in his class, glad i passed. FOR ALL MAJORS: Take him and philosophy will be your worst subject matter!
He is very clear and tries his best to encourage students to participate. I never read the material and did well just sstudying from the notes he gave. His assignments are clear and he is a fair grader as long as you show him that you have an understanding of the material. He also gives review sheets for final and midterm.
Not bad teacher. Not best I ever had, but he writes most important info on the board and incorporates plenty of ideas from philosophers into learning. Boring class but simple tests.
The only thing that keeps me awake is taking copious notes. I write down almost everything he says and in the end it's so helpful cause his questions come straight from his review. If you can answer all his review q's, you can get an A on the test. No HW (except to read which you can avoid by taking notes),attendance, and repeats if asked to. Easy A
FAVORITE PROFESSOR. take a few notes, really explain your thoughts, and always be honest with your questions. he is such a wonderful, relaxed guy. he can also be very funny. i plan on taking another course of his next semester.
I loved his class, he is very nice and helpful.very interesting.
Dr. Hamann is such a great professor! I was dreading taking Metaphysics because I heard so many horror stories about it - but he really made it interesting and easy to understand. He's also very helpful and super approachable. He loves when you participate, just by giving a thought or asking a quick question; it'll definitely help your grade.
He is so nice! he's passionate about it and makes the class interesting. I had to take him at 7:30 am and still I was wide awake while he was talking! Excellent professor, take him if you can.
Please avoid this guy for Philo 1000c . He makes no sense. I advise you find another teacher. Only good thing about him is he drops the worst test grade. Because without that everyone would fail. Don't be fooled by no midterm and final its honestly a trap.
Do not take him. He is very lenient with his final grade, my friend was failing and he bumped her up to an B only because everyone else failed. 4 tests and one gets dropped. no hw or midterm/final. No office hours, only take him if he is a last resort. only got an A- because everyone was failing so he bumped everyone up
Worst Professor ive yet had. He isnt willing to help and was never clear about what he was talking about. Everyone was struggling in my class. Do not take him. Find someone better.
just listen and you'll be good. he's clear and tries to explain things well, but its philosophy so it gets a little tricky.
Lectures will put you to sleep faster than an MMA fighter. DO NOT TAKE
Overall, he is a really nice guy--just not a good professor. The class was extremely difficult and very boring. The tests are multiple choice which doesn't make sense for a philosophy class since its all thought and not fact. He gave no clear notes either, just random points on the board. Don't take his class if you want a decent grade.
I love this guy. he does test review every class before a test, and he gives a study sheet which basically has all the answers. just pay attention to those, and do the first 8-ish weekly paragraphs for homework (he stops checking after that) and there's no way you won't get an A. Very laid-back teacher. Highly recommend
AVOID his online class was ridiculous, homework and tests 3 times a week, long assignments felt like it would never end, hes a tough grader but doesn't make it clear what hes actually looking for, doesn't budge on final grades either, you get what you get . do not take him unless you're looking to work extremely hard
Do not take this. His guidelines for everything are so specific and he doesn't answer questions if you email his for clarity. He's also rude.
he likes to have engaging conversations so participation is big. seems pretty easy so far and has an outline of everything he wants you to read. readings are easy and I like how he goes through each weeks reading and talks about every point. if not into philosophy, may be a little boring for you. not a lot of notes.
Great guy, good teacher.
Speaks for the entire class. Pretty clear and the books are not really needed because he talks about the things in class. No need to participate. About 5 tests, no papers, no hw, no quiz, no project. Cancelled about 3-4 times the semester so he gave us study guide for the test. Listen to his lectures and take notes, then it's easy A.
Talks about philosophers and then tests you on them. Simple. No hwk, or papers, etc... (This is the summer course) Just tests on what you learned. I dont like you dont get to share your personal views, maybe in class but not really on tests. Maybe he should offer them (personal views) as papers for extra credit.
This is the absolute worst course I have ever taken. He is extremely rude over comments and gives a relentless amount of work. He actually commented that I was disrespectful because I didn't number something and then said my test was unacceptable (even though it was based on my opinion). The amount of work every week is insane and has no end.
Classes consist of Hamann reviewing the assigned reading and pulling it apart and making it more understandable.
Not a bad class. If you put in the work, then you'll get a good grade. His tests are on blackboard and consist of writing long answers to 4/5 questions. The more detailed your answer, the better the grade. No final. Weekly reading, but you can find PDFs of each book online. VERY willing to work with his students; always encourages office hours.
Prof. Hamann is great! His class is very relaxed, but definitely take notes on the lectures because it will help with the homework immensely. Your grade is made up of 12 online discussion assignments and 6 take home tests, but he drops the lowest 2 discussions and the lowest test grade. Overall an excellent professor, would definitely recommend!
He really cares about what he is teaching and wants his students to succeed. Class is mostly lectures, but he enjoys students' input and wants to hear your thoughts. He's extremely understanding if you need to turn in an assignment late or miss class. Theres a lot of hw but it's easy and your lowest grade is dropped. I highly recommend him.
Took his online ethics class. There is a discussion board assignment and a mini exam (5 questions) every week. Work is manageable.
Would NOT take again. This class ruined my straight A's. Only a midterm and final, no curve was given. Weekly posts on blackboard and he is available for office hours. However, many points are taken off on the tests, which does heavily affect your grade. I showed up to every class and always took notes, but didn't do as great.
Lectures were very hard to follow but the ones that I did understand were interesting. Midterm was very hard. If you like reading, you'll do fine in this class but it definitely takes a lot of effort to comprehend the texts. The weekly Blackboard assignments are easy and boost your grade. Known as one of the better Philosophy Professors.
took his ethics class. Easy teacher a lot of work but easy grader
Ehhh he talks A LOT and grades strictly. I did not really enjoy the class, hard to participate and there is a weekly assignment on blackboard which is easy but its just annoying. Lots and lots of lecture!!!
I enjoyed his class. Not hard to get an A as long as you show up for lectures, take good notes and occasionally ask questions. His lectures can get a bit repetitive, but overall he's very passionate about the subject and challenges you to think. Workload is pretty light. No papers, just weekly discussion assignments. Would take him again.
Overall a good professor, lectures a bit confusing and seem to be a little all over the place. I would take again, but I'd pay a lot more attention and make sure I follow along perfectly.
A lot of reading, need to stay on top of that bc the final exam includes short answers. Go to class bc his lectures are going to help with final exam but not midterm. Midterm you just need to make sure you did the reading. Discussion Questions each chapter, he drops one but if its late he'll give you a 0. You can either get a 0 or a 10 no inbetween
Says participation is major part of grade, yet he talks the entire time and allows zero participation. It is very rare when a student can get a word in. Can you sit and listen to someone use very confusing language and talk for an hour and 25 mins straight? if so, take this class. If you want to save your GPA take someone else or an online class.
Professor Hamann is pretty cool. This class is pretty lecture heavy and it is extremely easy to zone out. However, if you read the book and keep up with the discussion assignments, you're bound to get an A!
He lectures, which make the class very long, but the tests are relatively simple if you listen and take notes.
He is super lecture heavy. I took him for philosophy 1000 & there was never any discussion. He never lets you out early and always gives homework, but the homework is one discussion post a week and he grades easy. Easy A if you do the bare minimum. Definitely take him, but he is boring.
He's a nice guy who is very clear on what you need to do for his class. Discussion assignment once a week. No papers. A midterm and a final. He's very lecture heavy since it is philosophy so be ready for that. He's better than the other Philo profs for the most part.
1 discussion post per week with 2-3 comments, 8 Essay Exams total and a term paper. Its a manageable online class so long as you read his notes carefully and actually try (he makes his notes fairly easy to understand), and for the most part his notes are sufficient enough to do the work. Easy going professor. Makes a boring subject tolerable.
I really wouldn't recommend taking him. He's nice and all but he lectures the entire time and then five minutes after, making you run to your next class. His final is very opinionated. Also he will heavily reduce your grade if you don't interrupt his lectures to ask a random question so interrupt him because he'll penalize you if you don't.
I wouldn't take this professor again. His work load is tolerable but my issue is his term paper which he gives you so much autonomy for but nonetheless penalizes you heavily for if something is incorrect as per his "standards", especially when the instructions given for it are SO VAGUE and minimal.
rip you if you get this guy as a freshman first semester and can't switch out. Terrible lectures, no notes, have to write down whatever he says, 1% of which will actually be on the exams and if you dont get that written down you pretty much fail. I have all A's but escaped this class with a low B because i had to know the most useless stuff.
I just really didn't like his class. He lectures for the majority of the class and if you don't stop and interrupt him you won't get your participation. He grades childishly too. Copied down notes verbatim and he was the only core class I ever took and didn't get an A in. Just avoid him trust me.
Online lectures. Do the work and you will pass. I recommend pass/failing so you do not have to worry about a grade.
Literally a waste of time, online class is easy but when he actually grades something its more of criticism than anything else. Super pretentious and kind of a snore, someone obviously didn't get that book deal.
Hamann was a great professor for philosophy. He is INCREDIBLY lecture heavy but if you pay attention you will learn a lot and find the course rather interesting. He is a very nice man who runs a very straight forward corse. Just make sure to show evidence for your essays. If you take awesome notes, they will suffice for essays. I miss him!
Incredibly hard and did not learn much.
This professor makes the course unnecessarily difficult. if you read the books you can pass, but he makes the class so you can't get an A. He told us. Lectures are long and boring. He almost gives too much information, to the point where you don't know what's on tests or not. Study guides are extremely long and not straight forward.
This professor will NOT elaborate when it comes to the essay exams. He will give you credit for completing each discussion post and will never give a comment but when it comes to the essay exams he will DRAG YOUR WORK. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Unless you plan to pass/fail save yourself the waste of time (you won't learn) and energy!!!
weekly discussions are easy. super nice guy. midterm and final are confusing but if you study youll done fine. lectures could be a little confusing and boring.
His lectures are EXTREMELY BORING. I can barely stay awake during them. There are 2 tests (midterm and final), 11 discussion assignments and attendance that each count as 25% of your final grade. He made us get 5 books for the discussion assignments and I just looked up summaries and only read a few pages at most. Discussions are either 100% or 0%.
He's super passionate about what he teaches pretty dedicated to making sure his students understand his lectures are interesting you will need to read plato to do well and study hard theres a lot of info on his tests but he does amazing reviews for it
Lectures are engaging and have me intrigued in material. Easy weekly discussion posts. Reading Plato can be dense but he goes throughs and clarifies. His tests are fair as he prepares class with a review. Tests have multiple choice and two short essays. Encourages questions and he thoroughly answers. Pay attention and you should be fine.
His lectures were long and boring, and he talked all nonsense. Every week there was a discussion on Blackboard, and you had to reply two other people's responses. You should read the readings to understand things better, but it was never a hard read. There was only the midterm and final with confusing MC and two short answers based off the reading.
he is so boring. tries to be nice but comes off as condescending. exams are the hardest things ever. only gives one day to complete a final worth 25% of grade. feedback is not that helpful and just is overall not the best.
every week there is a reading with a discussion post. You have to comment on 2-3 students' posts and respond to at least one person that commented on your post. there is a quiz every week the day after he posts his lecture for the topic. ZERO extra credit. if you miss a quiz or assignment he will NOT let you make it up. u can find readings online
discussion posts and quizzes weekly. even if you have the lecture right in front of you, you might not get a perfect score on the quiz. i think he think we are all philosophy students, which we def are not. doesnt condense any of the info, so reading the lecture is like reading the test all over again.
Most of his lectures are either at or longer than regular class time. But luckily he just post the lectures for us to listen at our own time. He gives us quizzes the next day which are decent depending on what quiz. He gives weekly discussion questions. He's a very tough grader. If you don't complete the task based on the Syllabus, here comes an F.
Only gives weekly quizzes which are decent at best. and discussion boards. - Unfair grader: Quizzes out of 100, weekly discussion out of 10 (If u don't complete everything in each discussion, is an instant 0) - 2 Exams: Multiple choice paraphrased quizzes, 2 essays from books we buy (at least 5 books) - Disrespectful in emails
Prof Hamann is great. One discussion and one short mult choice quiz based on written lectures every week, midterm and final both mult choice with two short essays. His class is easy if you actually read and try to understand material. Honestly anyone who didn't like him was probably lazy, Phil in general takes some work. He made it interesting.
Really good teacher. I would take him again if i could. Very fair grader. As long as you somewhat read the material youll be fine.
He isn't the worst however his class had assignments that were due 3 days a week. So every week Day 1 you posted your discussion day 2 you respond to comments and day 3 is a quiz. Every week its the same so it gets a lot but you get used to it. Doesn't really give feedback and don't have to read the text for discussions or quizzes
Assignments were either 100 or a 0. If you miss one mark, its a 0. Not fair and a really tough grader
Trent is mad disrespectful. His quizzes made no sense whatsoever. I do not think the class respected him, especially with his obnoxious attitude. I'm glad I stuck through the course but I would give 0 stars if I could.
Ridiculous, don't think for a second this will be an easy online course. He's a nitpicker and hard grader, doesn't give enough time on exams nor enough time to absorb lecture material for weekly quizzes (lectures open a day before quizzes). Another philosophy prof. that thinks everyone is a philosophy major taking no other courses.
There is work due 3 times a week. Requires a lockdown browser for all quizzes. There is no feedback on discussions and there is only two possible grades either a 100 or a 0.
Hamann was the worst professor I have ever taken, course consist of 5 hours reading a week, weekly discussion boards , weekly quiz (class average was 42% for all 13), and midterm and final with awful feedback that does not built the students, but is degrading. Teacher was reported to deans multiple times throughout term. DO NOT TAKE and DROP ASAP
Dont take this professor even if your life depends on it. Just dont. Ethics with Hamann was the most unreasonably difficult class I have ever taken. Not to mention he is hella rude
one of the worst ethics profs ever. He is on a power trip. Barely replies to emails, and when he does it is rude. Your discussion board is either 100 or 0 and only less than 24 hours to do it. quizzes every week and only 1 day to do it. Exams are 25 multiple choice and 2 400 word essays in 1 hr. Don't take unless you like being miserable.
Great
This guy takes his job way to serious and is very uppity. He puts himself before his students and doesn't care about any of them. Absolutely self-serving and very much annoying. Please avoid him at all costs.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. He is not a fair grader, will penalize you for the smallest thing. His tests do not make sense to his lectures. Is not considerate of his students. Just avoid this professor. It is not worth the unnecessary stress.
IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO TAKE HIM ONLINE DO IT!!! Quizzes are very easy, he drops 3 of them and the discussion boards are cake! He's very lenient with grading. I have 100 in the class and did minimal work, very much recommend if you're looking for an easy online class.
Class was made up of midterm, final, weekly quizzes, & discussion boards. Per week you had to complete a discussion board, reply to 2 others, and do the weekly quiz. Quizzes can be very hard, but he posts lectures that help with them. He drops the lowest 3 quizzes and the lowest 3 discussion boards. Answers emails and hw isn't too bad.
I would 100% take him again, a quiz every couple weeks, discussion boards as well every couple weeks. The lightest philosophy class I've ever taken. The final was a 2000 word essay but so easy most of the class got 100. Def take him!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T TAKE HIM. So much work for an ONLINE core elective class with no clear grading criteria or feedback. if you can handle a massive amount of workload.. props to you. but i'd rather focus on my major classes.
do yourself a favor, and dont take him.
LOCK DOWN BROWSER IS USED AND HE WATCHES YOU DURING IT. 1 weekly discussion post due THE SAME DAY ITS POSTED. 1 quiz every week due THE SAME DAY ITS POSTED. the class is not asynchronous. IF YOU DONT LOVE ETHICS DONT TAKE HIM.
This class requires a lot of work - weekly discussions, quizzes, and exams. But Hamann's lectures are helpful for the quizzes. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep. Overall, a challenging but manageable course if you're willing to put in the effort.
