He is a great teacher and loves the students. I think he fits well here at BYU-Idaho. If you stay caught up on readings and homework (which besides reading there isn't that much) you'll do great. He is fairly new to BYU-I but we can all learn a lot from TR. I recommend any class he teaches.
It was a fun class. Grades fairly, makes it enjoyable
He likes to joke with the guys in the class. He's knowledgeable and uses unique teaching tools.
TR is great! His simulations are helpful. Class discussion and teaching style really help the students learn (but still leaves truly excelling in the students' hands). He definitely deserves a chili pepper.

Dr. Rose is the best professor I've had. Whoever made the negative comment about him making class enjoyable by having a sense of humor needs to lighten up! I appreciate a professor who can teach the material well and make learning fun in the process---he does both. I highly recommend him!
Best teacher I've had! I learned a lot and it's not hard to do well in there, I will definately take him again.
Love Brother Rose. He has a very fun way of teaching, and allows for alot of class participation. He also still allows you to have fun in class and the fun is balanced well with the work. Love His class, can't wait to take another one of his classes next semester!
Only professor at BYU-I that was labeled to be a terrorist by one of his 315 classes...but seriously he is one of the most laid back and most enjoyable professors I have had the opportunity to have. Great guy who is able to take a joke and still respect the joker while getting the message across. Very smart and funny. Highly recomend.
Rose is the man. I have taken two classes from him. Very knowledgeable, flexible, expects you to come prepared. Great sense of humor. I would take any class from him.
Cool guy. Lot's of reading and bookwork, but not to bad. Gives outlines of tests, but not real clear on what he wants said. Overall good class, good teacher, do not hesitate to take a class from him!
Rose is dope. Laid back, but you learn a lot. Gives 4 tests, and a few quizzes, but not bad if you read. Just write your heart out on the tests, and you'll score well. Played college basketball, likes the Yankees, and really does not care if you miss a few classes. LEGIT!!
Bro Rose is one of the best professors in the Poli Sci department. Most of his classes don't make you wish you were dead. He has the ability to connect with his students and lead them to greater learning. You have to read a lot to get a good grade, but hey, that's Political Science for you.
Brother Rose is a great teacher for people looking for a good time and a small workload, but you probably would not learn as much as you would if you took the class from someone else. His tests were hard because he really does nothing to prepare you for them except hand you a textbook and tell you to read.
Loved Bro. Rose! Great teacher! He makes you work for your grade, but always has extra assignments to boost your grade. It is a good amount of work and a lot of information, but it was my first Poli. Sci. class and I didn't take the recommended courses before and I passed with a B+. Tons of fun, funny guy and makes class productive. Learned tons
I've taken three classes from Trent Rose already, way tight classes. Stay up on the reading and make sure to come to class. Class participation big deal (graded) but its no big deal cause class is interactive with students. Recommend him to all Political Science students
I'm going to take as many classes from him as possible! The most fair, helpful teacher ever!
Very fair and helpful. Great great teacher
Awesome guy. Laid back yet on task and helpful.
TR is awesome. He teaches relevant material and keeps it interesting. He is fair and clear. He is just a good teacher.
Terrorism and National Security was way fun! Bro. Rose is SO funny, I've almost peed my pants a number of time. You read this awesome book together as a class and just need to know what you read. Not hard at all, he REALLY likes when you participate so raise your hand and have a good chance at a fabulous grade. Go with the flow style, super fun!
If you learn from slide shows & are a good test taker, then I suggest you take this class. The only grades you get are from tests. He is an awesome teacher and is way funny! But, I am a bad test taker so a different teacher would've been better for me.
Brother Rose's class is very consistent-always a powerpoint/lecture everyday. A little boring sometimes but not as bad as other professors I've had. As long as you pay attention and study for his tests, you'll be fine!
Your entire grade is 4 tests (heard he might change that tho). It's basically just paying attention to class, and then taking a test on it.Thats really it.He has assigned readings, that arent really pertinent to the tests.he has an honor quiz at the end asking how much of the readings and attendance you have done.pretty straightfoward, pretty easy.
Bro. Rose has a set class. Lecture with powerpoint and exams within class. The 4 exams, are your only grades so be on it. Review is long but clear enough. If you go to class and listen, and also take time to study you'll be fine. To tell you It's boring just to sit there but its an easy A. Take the advantage. He's a good guy.
This is a hard, but not impossible class. I'm not even American and I have over 100 percent. If you're willing to put in the effort, you'll be fine. He taught from a political science perspective, which I liked a lot.
His class was just a lecture and sometimes he would catch our attention with a video clip or a story. He knows his stuff. No homework, which hurts your grade unless you get A's on his hard tests. There are only tests and the chance to earn 25 extra credit points by writing papers. Tons of reading assignments. GOOD LUCK.
He is SO funny and I would definitely want to hang out with him. He's not the best teacher because he just reads off of a powerpoint but I recommend taking him for sure. Attendance isn't super necessary and class consists of only 4 tests. You have to do daily readings but he doesn't check on them. He also offers extra credit. I recommend!
Like everyone else says, you don't really have to come to class except on exam days. And he'll show video clips that are sometimes on the exam. The thing that sucks is that you study a crap load of topics of interest that you think would be on the exam, and almost all of the time they are weird indirect questions and hypothetical situations!
Buying his textbook was a huge waste of money because although you're supposed to do the readings, the only things you're ever tested on are what's on his powerpoints. I don't like that your only grades are 4 tests but at least there's no extra work. Lots of extra credit opportunities, if you'll just do them. He's a pretty interesting teacher, I just find his class pointless to attend.
Brother Rose is a funny, cool, & smart guy. There is no Homework, but your grade basically comes from 4 tests. Everyone says they are hard, but they are NOT if you come to class and take notes from what is on the study guide. He offers extra credit which can boost you up a whole grade if you do it. He also gives points for attendance and reading.
Bro.Rose is nice enough, but this class was not my favorite. There are no homework assignments or quizzes to help boost your grade. Grades are based off 4 tests. They are supposed to be based off the "readings" but really they are based off of his random Powerpoints. I never felt very prepared in that class.
The class is fairly interesting. Like what was said by other students, the book material rarely is on the test. He is very knowledgeable in the subject. Tests are easy as long as you look at the study guide and study a fair amount. Pretty easy class.
VERY Liberal and opinionated. Did not like his views on anything. And he is the most boring teacher i have ever had. Also he is very negative. ESPECIALLY towards people with other views. I hated being in his class.
Brother Rose is incredibly smart when it comes to political science and history. This class consisted of him reading and explaining a power point. Your grade is completely based off of 4 exams which is good or bad. You don't need the textbook and if you want, you can just study the power points at home and do the study guide. He's great!!!
B. Rose has an enthusiasm for polisci and it shows. His lectures are clear and he posts his PPTs online to study from. His tests are reasonable and can be nailed if you study his presentations. He is open to discussion and does his best to engage his students. One of the few professors I would endorse at this school.
Bro. Rose was a fantastic teacher. You never get homework. His study guides are the tests. And he gives many opportunities for extra credit. You do need to read the readings he assigns else you'll be confused in class guaranteed. Highly recommended for American Foundations.
Bro Rose is nice. His class is fun. Book required but he seldom uses it. PLUS, NO quizzes and homework which means that the points mainly comes from the tests. If you are confident enough, you may take his class. If no, do not consider it!!!!
Trent's Intro to PA class is no joke he'll test you on what you have read. You will learn the theories of public admin. and will know those theories. You are required to read the whole textbook which consists of 16 scholarly articles and a case that illustrates the theories in the article. Overall its a Rose class so you will love it and learn.
Very good teacher. I'm not a fan of the subject he taught, but he held my interest. He's really funny and helpful. He has all his power points, and study guides online, so it's easy for you to study. Your grade is based on four tests, but if you really study for them you should be ok.
Super easy class. I showed up only 75% of the time and still got an A. He sticks all of his PowerPoints online with his notes and he marks everything you need to know for the test. SO EASY!
Great teacher. Always willing to help. Study and you will get a good grade; mostly because he doesn't do tricky questions. Recommend to anyone.
Read the cases and textbook info, and the quizzes and exams should be good. Great teacher, always there for us.
Loved this class. It was a required class, but it was awesome. Brother Rose is a good teacher and we had good discussions even though it's a big class. Learned interesting things and it was easy. I'd highly recommend him and I would definitely take another class from him.
Easy class, but make sure you read the assignments. He gives four tests throughout the semester. He has a study guide for each, and there is always a curve for tests. Attendance is not mandatory, and he posts all of the notes online. Awesome teacher!
He is an awesome instructor who really wants you to pass and succeed! I really felt encouraged in his class and educated on useful assignments were given that co tributed to my education! A+ instructor
Professor Rose is great. He is very approachable and makes the whole class feel welcome. I went to class because I liked going, although much of what we talk about in class is on tests. He makes learning fun.
I had Rose for the congress class. Normally, a class about congress would be boring but his wasn't. He likes to joke around. Knows a lot about congress. I would highly suggest taking a class from him.
He's a fun teacher, makes class interesting. Not long-winded or boring like a lot of other Poly-Sci teachers I've had!!
it was a good class, lots of lecture work and quizzes. when he is out of stuff to say its time to go home.
Bro. Rose is my favorite teacher on campus. He is fair and balanced with his grading. He is funny and keeps the class entertaining. I took 5 classes from him. They are all about the same. If you put in the work, study for the tests, and do the extra credit you have a good chance to get an A. In my opinion his public Administration is his toughest.
Rose is a great teacher & terrorism is one of his best courses. I'm leaving the semester with vastly greater knowledge than I entered with. The materials were fantastic; I enjoyed everything we read and watched. Keep up with the reading, attend class & you'll do great. The workload is really reasonable & even enjoyable. Great class!
Brother Rose is a great teacher, extra credit will raise your grade. We watched different movies and documentaries about the different terrorists and targets. Love it.
This class was a required elective that I didn't plan on taking, but I'm glad I did! There is definitely a lot of reading, so prepare for that. But, the information was interesting, so I enjoyed reading the material. Bro. Rose is funny and a good grader! Plus, we watch lots of movies that are intense, but still enjoyable. Take this class!
Great teacher and class.
Brother Rose is a fantastic instructor! He is super easy going and he is really willing to work with you. The material in itself is really interesting, so if you enjoy learning that kind of stuff you'll love this class. There is a lot of reading; however, it is interesting reading so it is not painful at all. Bro. Rose is fun and cool!
Brother Rose is a great teacher. His lectures are enjoyable and keep you entertained. He uses visuals like documentaries and other videos to help show how the course material is applied in real life.
I thought Brother Rose was very nice! He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities which was awesome. Stay caught up on the reading. I forgot until the end that he asks us to honestly tell him how much we read so at the end I was scrambling. But the class was overall good. Do the study guides that he gives you and you'll be fine on the tests.
In his Terrorism and National Security class, Bro. Rose focus on terrorist groups. It was a great class, and helped demystify many ideas people normally have towards such organizations. Bro. Rose is a great teacher, and a great person. He is always willing to help. Do the readings and you should be good. I'd definitely take a class from him again.
Dr. Rose is a great teacher. He is clear on his expectations on what he wants from you. Everything is on the syllabus, there are no surprises.
I loved Trent Rose's history class! I feel like I really learned a good amount in his class. He will help you if you try and get his help. Very nice guy! Would highly recommend!
Great teacher. Wish I had more classes with him. Fun and really interesting topic, especially today. Fun, engaging, and discussions are a big component to class. Come ready to read quite a bit, and make sure you do. There are quizzes at least every other day. They're not hard at all if you read. He takes the questions right form the book. Exams too
Brother Rose's Congress class was well worth the time. The texbook is pretty dry but everything else was a blast. He runs a simulation for the last half of class which I thought was a cool way to learn about congress. He's very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand the material. Also, he's hilarious
Terrorism & National Security was a fantastic class. Brother Rose does require a good deal of reading, but if you're in this class it's bc you find this stuff interesting and you'll probably like the reading a lot. His lectures are very clear and you always know what he expects of you.
You want to know something about terrorism this is where you go. He knows things. Though his quizzes aren't quite clear he'll hook you up with a few extra credit points. He is a front-line fanatic which he uses a few times in class. He is a straight up 'G'.
Your grade is based on 4 tests, participation (if you did the assigned reading), and one required gateway seminar.
Great course. He was very unorganized this semester. To this day, he has only graded one assignment of the 5-6 we have done. (This is the last week of the course).
Class was pretty sweet, but a lot of it is reading and lectures with some papers and tests. The legislation simulation was amazing and very effective. He offers a fair amount of extra credit, but the rest of the class was simply boring and felt mundane. He is a really cool person, but not liking his "teaching" style.
He is very knowledgable about terrorism and you can tell he loves this class. Do the reading and you will do just fine. Very funny and I actually enjoyed coming to class.
He is very knowledgable about terrorism and you can tell he loves this class. If you do the readings you will do just fine. He is very funny and I actually enjoyed going to this class.
Brother Rose is very knowledgable of the subjects discussed in class. Each of his classes have been informative and helpful to me, as well as my fellow students. I learned a great deal from this class and I'll definitely not forget any of it any time soon. There are some fairly hefty essay assignments, but they aren't too difficult.
I'm not even Political science major and i was worried that i wont be able to understand this course but brother Rose made it clear and easy to understand! Highly Recommend!
For his Congress class, you'll have lots of reading (but thankfully no quizzes) which we go over in class and test on for the midterm and final. Also we do a Congress simulation where we become a representative, are put in committees, and have floor debates. There are four essays that you do for this, but they're not too difficult. He's a cool guy!
Great teacher, his lectures are enjoyable and they keep you awake. You have to a lot of reading but all of his books are enjoyable
He has been my favorite since being here at school. He is VERY clear and he does not want you to memorize, but to KNOW what is being taught. He cares for the students a lot and their success. He is very intelligent and hilarious. If you are in the PoliSci dept, go on the NYC trip! Very informative and fun. His wife is amazing!
Bro. Rose is a boss. Good guy, fun to be around, clear and concise, doesn't give out too much busywork, and things that occur in class are basically a simulation on how congress works. Two tests and a couple papers. Overall a pretty easy but well prepared class. Take him.
the legislative class is an extremely helpful class and the simulation is a lot of fun while teaching us the legislative process.
This class is super interesting and very informative. If you do the work you will do well.
The Legislative Branch class is really enjoyable because most of our class time was spent in simulating Congress. I learned a lot in this class from participating in the simulation. There are few lectures, but you are expected to read the textbook.
I love Brother Rose he is a great teacher and a great mentor. I have taken classes from him before and have loved them. Legislative Branch class was fun and interactive. Most part of the class is simulation while the other is reading.
Brother Rose is excellent at showing his passion for the class. Though it may seem like a lot of work at the beginning of the Semester, Rose is great at making sure you get the best help possible, provided you attend class as much as possible and you work hard. I would take another class from him if I could.
I enjoyed Professor Rose. He was really funny and made class a blast to come to!
I really liked Brother Rose. I had him for terrorism and legislative branch. I specifically enjoyed his terrorism class. Brother Rose's sense of humor added made the class upbeat, even though the subject matter was often kind of dark. There's definitely reading in his classes, but as long as you read + come prepared, you'll do just fine.
Brother Rose is an incredible teacher. He loves what he teaches and there is often humor thrown into his lectures. He cares about his students and will help out any way he can.
This class is a decent Political Science class there is reading at least once a week. We also do a Congressional Simulation which is really fun and informative The class isn't hard but it isn't a breeze, you need to do the readings and study for the tests but he gives you a study guide so if you don't get a good grade it is your own fault I love it
Every time I have a chance to take from brother Rose I take it.
Great teacher, I loved taking the legislative branch class! The simulation we did really helped us learn more about how congress works, and it fun being able to make our own bills. Brother Rose has a few tests, but if you follow the study guide you will be just fine. I would encourage anyone to take this class, Brother Rose is awesome!
Brother Rose is a great teacher. His class is super fun and engaging. Sometimes his expectations and grading don't exactly match up, but otherwise this was a great class. I really enjoyed learning in this class and it wasn't too stressful either.
Do your work and you'll be fine.44
All of Brother Rose's classes are worth taking. I've taken a few from him and I always feel engaged in the learning. He does a lot of simulations which are really beneficial and fun most the time. He cares about the issues and is good at helping the class understand. Very reasonable and helpful. Great guy, great teacher.
Brother Rose is a very down-to-earth professor. He expects his students to work hard and complete assignments, but he's rational and willing to help out with anything. Definitely a favorite polisci teacher.
I loved this class. Bro Rose made everything interesting. Talks about current events at the beginning of class, then gives a lecture. My favorite part is that he puts all his presentations online so I can review for the test. We are only graded on 4 tests, and he offers 25 pts extra credit that you can do anytime throughout the semester.
Brother Rose is a great man. He's really funny and knows A LOT about Political Science. My only problem with the class was that your grade was dependent upon the scores you got on the four exams. He did offer extra credit at the end though. As long as you study for the tests by following the study guides he supplies, you'll be fine. JUST STUDY!!
He did not really teach. The study guides are pointless. The test are really tough but he curves a ton.
Brother Rose was an awesome teacher! I learned a lot because I put in a little work outside of class. He has a study guide for each of his 4 tests. Final is non comprehensive. Do the readings as you go and it makes for easy points in the end. Do study guide as he lectures. Review study guide for a couple hours is all. Curves all tests. TAKE HIM!
Class is just a lecture but if you pay attention you can learn quite a bit. I failed a test and still got an A, curves all the tests.
Brother Rose was a great teacher! His lectures do get long and boring sometimes but who's don't? He doesn't care what you do in class as long as you aren't distracting. The tests are pretty hard. If you study and use the study guide then you'll be well off. He is very helpful when it comes to grades and gives you a ton of extra credit opportunity.
I have to say that Brother Rose is one of the best teachers I have had here at BYUI. Not because he is easy but because he is the most Reasonable. If the class is behind and there is a paper coming up, he might move it back. If the class needs more time, he listens. Because he listens you learn more. You wont be disappointed.
No homework(aside from reading), just lectures. Which is good if you're a good studier/test taker, but not good if you're not. I was fine, but I know some people that struggled because their grade relied upon the tests. There are some EC opportunities as well though. The class is definitely easy; just make sure to study well for the exams.
Brother Rose is a really good and interesting teacher, he lectures a lot in this class but still manages to keep us interested. You don't really actually need to read the textbook and the study guides for the test are really helpful if you use them right and fill them out as you go like he tells you to, lots of extra credit
Hes a nice enough guy. Hes a politics teacher and he has his opinions. Possible rename of the class could could have been vote4dem101. He curves the tests which is nice. Bad at test questions. Heres a similar Ex: "Last week I said: 1 the constitution sucks 2 the constitution is old 3 the constitution needs replaced 4 the constitution needs removed"
Great instructor. Lectures are very interesting and make class attendance worthwhile.
Easy teacher. Liberal. Hates the constitution/founders. Nice as long as you like his ideas. Easy A or B. Light homework load.
Have to work for a grade but if you keep up on the assignments you'll do great.
As long as you show up to class and do the very few assignments throughout the semester you'll do great!
Brother Rose is a funny, outgoing guy. He lectures pretty much all class, but it isn't too bad. You have to pay for Tophat (like 25 bucks) and his special textbook (85ish bucks). Attendance recorded daily, occasional quizzes on readings (reading assignments are very long). Tests are very very in depth. However he does give a 10+ point curve.
Brother Rose gets off topic in his lectures so often and lectures every single day in class. He also has opinions that differ from the church and openly shares them in class with students. He constantly talks about democratic views and makes you buy an $80 book and $25 online tool.
Brother Rose seems like a good teacher. If you're trying to take notes seat on the front his handwriting is really hard to read. For the tests make sure to do his study guide it will help. It doesn't seem necessary to go to class if you read the books and do the study guide since most of his lectures are just him talking about the book.
I totally loved Brother Rose. I have never enjoyed history, but his teaching and personality made me excited about learning. I have never learned so much in my life. He is really chill, gives you extra credit, really easy to approach, and he is just very understanding about you being a college student. His tests are easy if you study and listen.
I think Brother Rose was not the right professor to teach American Foundations, because he is passionate about Political Science. I had a hard time learning information for the tests.
I was kind of worried after reading some of these comments before taking a class from Brother Rose. But to be honest I think this guy is awesome. Yes the book is expensive and the readings are long but really you can pass the class by taking good notes and skimming the readings. I would recommend this teacher.
I was bothered by the price of the textbook ($90). The textbook was not very beneficial and I think that the readings from them did not enhance my understanding. He is a good professor but the class was boring. As a person, he is amazing.
Brother Rose is super funny, he's a good teacher. He gives you specific study guides so if you know the terms you'll survive. The tests are hard but he gives huge curves so it's easy to get a good grade.
Prof. Rose is awesome, he does good lectures and in ya take good notes and just listen to what he is saying, you'll get an A. And if you bomb a test, don't worry, he curves almost all of them (:
Extremely generous grader. I don't like his lectures a ton, but he is not a bad teacher. If you are taking American Foundations and just want to pass, absolutely take from him. He curves every test 10-15 points and besides tests it's only in class quizzes, which aren't hard if you looked at the reading.
His class is really easy is you read over the power points. He takes attendance so make sure you go to class but his lectures are extremely boring. Overall if you study for the tests on your own and just show up to class you will do just fine.
I loved taking his American Foundations class! He's a very "real" teacher, as in he knows what it is like to be a student, so he's very merciful. Tests are on the more difficult side, but I would gladly take his class again.
Brother Rose is a good teacher. This class is very lecture heavy, but he has good powerpoints. one of the assignments is to read the textbook we had to get. (separately), but if you have a pretty basic knowledge of how government works, You could probably get away with not reading it. I'd recommend pulling up the powerpoints and following along
Bro. Rose is one of my favorite teachers at the University. He wants everyone to succeed not only in his class, but in life. He encourages his students to meet with him personally to discuss their future. He's pretty lenient on grading. As long as you do the readings, the class is pretty easy. For me, I loved learning about Public Administration.
He was a wonderful teacher and puts a curb on all the tests that we took. he is supper good about answering questions in class. he takes forever to grade things through.
Brother Rose was a great teacher, but his class is too easy. That in some ways benefited me as I took this class in congruence with American Government, but I wish it was just a little bit more challenging. The textbook is barely used and it's way too expensive. Just make sure you study for tests and show up and you're good to go.
Pretty easy class, he uses TopHat for attendance on most days. He has pop quizzes, but you get points for attempting the quizzes. He also provides a makeup quiz time at the end of the semester. If you have the study guides he provides along with the powerpoint he is using pulled up on your laptop and fill it out as you go, you're golden.
Easy A. A lot of extra credit available. There are only 4 tests including the final. Just study the quizlet the night before and you'll be fine. He also curves every test up to and 80%. You do have to go to class though and listen to him read off slides which are already on Ilearn. Small reading quizzes on tophat. You do have to read/skim textbook.
Honestly, i was really dreading this class at the beginning of the year, and now looking back i wish it went by slower. Brother Rose is so awesome! He will answer any question you throw at him, and will go over it if you're still lost. Reading is mandatory because of the questions at the beginning of class. If you don't go you might be in trouble
Brother Rose was great! I love how he just talks as if he's having a one-on-one conversation, except he's talking to the whole class, it's pretty funny. He relates well to his students. The tests were a bit hard, especially if you didn't study enough, but he curved them. Make sure to fill out the study guides!
I have taken every class Brother Rose offers at BYU-I. By far my favorite professor. He prepares well for lectures, and I get a lot out of it every time he teaches. You can really tell he is passionate about his field. He was also my internship adviser and my faculty mentor. Cannot recommend him more! Seriously the best professor I've ever had.
He was a really good teacher! Curved every single test because tests were designed for seniors/juniors. Gave a potential 25 points for extra credit when you do the assignments. Super fun teacher in class and is very passionate about what he teaches. Explains and answers clearly to questions asked.
He is a legend in the Poli-Sci department. He makes the class fun and is very straightforward with grading criteria
Brother Rose is my favorite teacher at BYUI! He's hilarious and makes the class a lot of fun. We had possibilities of pop quizzes every class but we were allowed notes, it was basically just to make sure we were doing the readings. He changed a couple of due-dates for us is a forgiving teacher. Tests weren't too hard as long as you studied enough!
Brother Rose is a great teacher! The simulation for the class was soo much fun. The test are easy, if you actually study. Its not all common knowledge for a Poli Sci major.
Brother Rose is great. He always has fun and informative lectures and has made my experience at BYU Idaho better.
I highly recommend taking the Legislative Branch. This consists of a simulation of Congress where you write bills, have committee meetings, floor debates, create a campaign, etc. It was one of the funnest classes I've taken, and it contains a lot of good content. I feel that my time in this class was very valuable and I learned a lot.
Brother Rose is probably my favorite professor at BYU-I. I've taken him for Public Administration, Legislative Branch, and Executive Branch- and I can confirm that he really knows his stuff. He's a super nice dude overall and is very understanding about each student's unique situation. 10/10 would recommend.
This is my second class from Brother Rose, and he's honestly the best. I learn so much from his classes and always have a good time too. He's really funny, is a great teacher, and clearly knows what he's talking about. If you want a class where you learn things and have a good time too, Brother Rose is your guy.
This is my third class with Brother Rose and I wish I could have taken more from him, really! I have not only learned a lot from him, but he genuinely cares about his students. One of my favorite professors. He is awesome.
Absolutely awful professor. It is an easy class but Brother Rose is very lazy (cancels class a lot), is hard to get in contact with, is very vague in directions, and half of the work you do is not even graded. If you want an easy A requiring no effort then take this class. If you want to actually learn DO NOT take this professor!
Brother Rose is amazing! He is competent and caring. He gives advice and is generous with grades. He always gives extra credit opportunities (1-2 pages review of a movie related to the subject for 12.5 points or 3-5 pages on a different project worth 25 points) both for on campus and remote classes.
It was a flex class and so there should have been some lectures but he only did 2-3. Easy class very much self-taught, all the tests were open note which was nice. Not a hard class I just didn't learn or care about it very much at all.
Love Professor Rose! I learned so much from his class and he made it fun and entertaining l. Definitely the best professor Ive had.
Brother Rose was an awesome teacher to have. I really enjoyed his class and his willingness to help and be forgiving during the pandemic. Mostly, I enjoyed how he respected us as adults, and let us manage on our own, while still sticking to a schedule. Overall, I would highly suggest his class to anyone in or outside the major.
The Legislative Branch was made a fun and interactive class by him. He is pretty laid back and super willing to help answer any questions that you have.
Brother Rose is one of my favorite Political Science professors. This class requires a lot of participation. The more you participate in the class discussion, the more you will get from the class. I highly suggest to take this class from Brother Rose. You will learn so much about how the Legislative branch works in real life.
Professor Rose is probably my favorite teacher at BYU-I. He has been a great help in different classes that I have taken from him and he has shown a clear sign of understanding the needs of his students and addressing them to near perfection. I have never felt condescended by him nor have I felt that I was somehow being irritating. Take his class!
Brother Rose is one of my favorite Political Science professors. This class requires a lot of participation. The more you participate in the class discussion, the most you'll get out of class. The Legislative Branch was made a fun and interactive class by him.
Class is very participation-heavy, but if you are willing to participate you can get a lot done. He doesn't use the calendar feature of Canvas, so be sure to check the modules page or you will miss things, but other than that this course was fun!
To his credit, Brother Rose has been very willing to work with me personally because of my busy schedule. Lots of extra credit opportunities and the way he has it set up with "online days" allows lots of liberty in getting classwork done.
Brother Rose sets up his class for self learning. There were lots of simulation. If you weren't comfortable with the simulation, you were able to make it up in other ways. The readings you did after class was what the test was made up of.
I have taken serval courses from Brother Rose in the past. He is a good and honest professor. He wont just hand you the grade, but he definitely is not out to fail you. You get out what you put in the class. I suggest that you take classes from him.
Brother Rose is a good teacher, he is super chill and his class is an easy A. He doesn't grade on a lot of things however, so you can learn a lot in class and still get poorer grades on assignments. If you want a chill class with a lot of participation and only a few assignments, this is the class for you!
I think that Professor Rose is a great instructor. I have had him twice now in my time at Brigham Young University and I really have enjoyed both times that I have been in his class. I always look for him when searching for my new political science classes that I am looking to take.
Brother Rose is fantastic. His classes are clear cut and manageable, and his teaching style makes things that much easier. It's easy to tell that he wants his students to succeed, and is always willing to work with you to help you get where you want to be. He's a great man and an outstanding professor. Take your classes from him, trust me.
I was in Brother Rose Legislative Branch class. I think that it was awesome to not only learn about Congress but actually simulate as if we were part of it. I think that learning through experiences is the best thing to do.
Brother Rose is a good teacher to have. He allows the class to naturally progress and never gets stuck in too much theory. He's an all-around good guy!
Rose is great at simulations! We delved into the legislative branch by doing what they do. He thinks outside the box and is really chill. I got way more into the simulation than I thought I would, learned a lot, and had a lot of fun. One thing that bothered me it is that things were disorganized in some ways and most of the grade is based on exams.
The class is very simulation based. Everyone becomes a Senator, and then we learn how Congress actually works by being representative of states we choose. We wrote bills, passed them to committees, and then passed towards the floor for debate and comments. Would highly recommend to anyone, amazing, involving class!!
Brother Rose is a fantastic professor. He treats you like an adult which is nice. No busy work, everything matters. Pay attention, do the work and youll do well. Hes super knowledgeable and willing to reach out. He will even answer emails at 1am!
Professor Rose its a great professor. His class was fun and great and I was able to learned a lot from his lessons. I also appreciate that he offers extra credit. I think that helps a lot.
So I really enjoyed Brother Rose. The class was definitely a challenge, but rewarding and I ended up learning a lot. Definitely do the reading, and better be prepared to put yourself out there. But he is a good professor and knows how to engage the students!
Professor Rose its a great professor. His class was fun and great and I was able to learned a lot from his lessons. I also appreciate that he offers extra credit. I think that helps a lot. He is also very good about answering emails and giving feedback.
Brother Rose is a great teacher and has a unique way to run this class. It is a very discussion based class and Brother Rose is very hands off in the best possible way. It lead to more class based discussion and less lecturing which in my opinion was a more beneficial way to run the class.
Brother Rose cares about your future. He cares about your career and in so, he tries to make the classes teach you something on how to handle future career situations. He's also the internship program director and so helpful in both the classroom and outside of office hours.
Brother Rose is awesome and makes the class fun. I really enjoyed being a "senator" in this class and learned a lot about Congress. Definitely which I could continue to take this class!
Brother Rose is a very good professor. He teaches in a unique way which makes you retain more of the content.
Brother Rose is awesome! I loved the way his class was set up. We did a legislative simulation for the whole semester where we acted as senators, wrote bills, debated them in class, headed and participated in committees. It was a really great way to learn about Congress. As long as you go to class and do the assignments, you'll get an A.
Brother Rose was super chill during zoom university. As long as we had good discussions, he let us do our thing. This class is student lead but he was great at interjecting when we could use some help or he had a specific hint. He was super easy to get along with as well.
Pretty easy class. There is a good amount of reading, but not a lot of assignments. You are really only graded on participation, two exams, and 4 journal assignments during the semester. The class is set up like the US senate and you act as a US senator would. Pretty fun class.
Brother Rose is an amazing teacher! He really cares about his students and their success and works to help us in any way he can! Especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Brother Rose has been so understanding of each individual's situation. 10/10 would recommend taking a class from Brother Rose!!
Brother Rose was great! It was a student run class and after he helped us get set up, it was left to us! The tests questions are pretty specific but the papers are outlined so if you answer all the questions you will get an A. He responds to emails quickly even later at night and gives tons of extra credit!
Brother Rose is a good teacher, he is very smart but you do a lot of the learning, he kinda just guides you through the course. You read 40-50 pages out of his selected text book before every class and most of his class is a hybrid online and in person experience. I prefer the days when we are in person because we do a lot of simulations.
Professor Rose is a good teacher, but his class is very easy, which is nice but I didn't really learn much. It is up to you to do all the chapter readings & online activities. The tests are open book so I didn't put much effort into studying & retaining the information beforehand as I could just wait for the test. He works with you & provides E.C.!
I really enjoyed both classes I took from Brother Rose! He genuinely cares about students and wants us to learn. One bonus of taking his classes is that he replies to emails way faster than most professors here and will do all he can to make sure questions or concerns are clearly addressed. My one complaint is the tests can be hard to study for.
Brother Rose is a Top G! He is obviously very passionate about his classes and cares for his students. He is willing to work with his students when issues come up and is very helpful and responsive. I learned so much in his American Gov. class and would recommend Bro. Rose to anyone at BYU-I.
The organization was awful on Canvas. Daily participation isn't kept through assignments like in other classes. You won't be aware of different activities unless you are in class.
Never taking him again. Canvas was a COMPLETE MESS! Impossible to navigate. I missed quizzes because they weren't where they were supposed to be. His teaching has no structure. I can't even understand the point he's trying to get across. Got zero from this class.
Brother Rose is amazing! He is good at teaching especially considering I don't like the public admin class. I think the readings are not interesting since I don't wanna go that route but, he made the class so much fun! He is very understanding and has tons of extra credit during the semester!
Brother Rose is amazing! I think public admin is super boring but, loved his class. I will be taking the next class from him. As long as you do your work and ask questions you'll be fine. He is super funny and give 25 points of extra credit that you can complete before the end of the semester. He is one of the best professors I have ever had!!
It was an ok class but a lot of it felt like busy work. Overall my favorite part was the simulation
This is the 3rd class that I've taken from Brother Rose. I absolutely love taking his classes, and I went out of my way to take Executive Branch this semester. He makes each day entertaining and educational. His goal is to expand our view point and help us be more objective in our thinking to prevent us from being bias in our decisions.
As you get to know Brother Rose, he becomes one of the best professors on campus. He is willing to work with you to ensure your success in his class and in school in general.
Brother Rose is very workable! He gives you clear instructions for the assignments, and the class topics were very engaging. Very willing to help you, just need to talk to him.
Very cooperative and helpful! I would a 100% take his class again!
Professor Rose is passionate about his subject, and he enjoys participation. This class would be considered blended. You are expected to show up Monday and Wednesday, but Friday you do online work. Professor Rose is really laid back; it would be exceptionally hard to fail this class.
I overall enjoyed taking this class. The class was enjoyable and you can see that bro. rose is both passionate about the subject and teaching. As long as you do the readings you will be able to succeed in this class.
While the class is easy and most the assignments are easy, you just have to pay attention in class or you will make easy mistakes on the test. Overall good teacher and has clear criteria and tons of extra credit to help you out.
I took Intro to Public Administration with Brother Rose, and I really liked it. He gives plenty of opportunities to boost your grade, and all the quizzes and assignments are a mix of the book reading and the videos he tells us to watch. I would definitely take a class with him again.
I think Brother Rose was a great professor who was very understanding for the class that he was teaching. He was willing to work with me even though I was not perfect on attendance and it is clear he wants his students to succeed. He is a good guy. He reminds me of John Goodman with the humor of Shane Gillis, and that's a pretty good combination.
Brother Rose is a great teacher. I was very nervous about taking this class, but from the very first lecture, I felt that this was a safe learning space and that Brother Rose is not only very knowledgeable but also very approachable. I learned a lot from this class. .
Rose is a caring teacher, passionate about the topics he teaches. He is understanding towards situations and allows students to make up missed work.
Brother Rose has a lot of knowledge in the area. His classes are participation lectures and you need to read the chapter before class, he deepens our understanding in classes, then we do our quizzes or case studies. there are 25 points of extra credit, Fridays he makes it online, you still do work but don't need to go to class.
Most of the work comes from reading the case studies from the textbook. Stay on top of your readings, they're pretty interesting, and you'll be good!
I might as well have taken this class online. Professor Rose just came to class and read slideshows, then would have us to activities and stuff for no credit. Just take it online.
This teacher puts the students first. If you talk to him about life circumstances outside the classroom he will work with you. He is also passionate about the material he teaches.
There is not many assignments that are graded in this class outside of the 3 exams and the final paper. That being said, he does allow for a lot of extra credit opportunies. He gets really excited about talking about the presidents.
Brother Rose is a good professor, the course is very reading heavy, and the course is just introducing public administration. So, the course itself can feel really mundane since it is pretty study/lecture heavy. Brother Rose does a good job of trying to get students involved in the exciting part of public administration through group projects.
Brother Rose is one of the best teachers on campus! He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and answers any questions! He is understanding, and gives multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. There will be reading involved ~ but this class is such a great learning opportunity. 10/10 definitely recommend.
While attendance is not technically mandatory, you will miss some key lectures and group work if you do not attend. You also evaluate your attendance yourself at the end of the semester for a grade. Lots of homework and reading, but it isn't difficult at all. Homework includes quizzes, essay questions, movie watching, and discussion boards.
Great professor. It is essential for the student to read as well as participate in class. Super Chill and if ever needed advice or concerns about the major he is one of the professors to ask.
Brother Rose structures his classes in a way that is easy to understand. You get every Friday as an online day, which is pretty nice.
I took Brother Rose's introduction to public administration class and it was worth it. He is great at what he does and is very knowledgeable. He describes himself as a whistle-blower. This is the type of person I want to learn administration and policy making from because he has a great sense of integrity and commitment to doing the right thing.
The second half of the semester had zero teaching so the final exam was up to you and the reading you did. The simulation is fun and worth it if you participate as fully as you can! Attendance is not 100% mandatory but because you are graded by a few things, you need to be there for your participation grade at the end of the semester.
He was pretty awesome. The material itself was not hard. The way he formated the class was very organized and easy to navigate on canvas, which was great! The lectures were great and organized as well, and he gave some opportunity for extra credits as well as make up up to 3 quizzes. So it was good!
Bro.Rose is one of my favorite professors in our major. He is able to incorporate fun as well as seriousness in matters with his class. Be sure to take him
Professor Rose is a knowledgeable and approachable instructor who makes the class engaging. The workload is manageable with the help of resources like Unstuck ai, and attendance is essential. Overall, it's a worthwhile class to take.
Bro. Rose is such a great teacher! His class is super interesting and he makes it so fun. He really cares about his students, SUPER understanding and kind. I couldn't recommend him enough. He gives great feedback that is going to help you a ton. 10/10
Great professor! I took a few classes from him and all were pretty easy. Lecture heavy but me is really chill.
Brother Rose is a super nice guy, he's super smart and really good at teaching. He seems more like a homie than a teacher. Only thing holding him back from a 5 is that he likes to interject his own personal political views. He's super respectful of other people's thoughts, but you do get the sense that he swings a certain way pretty hard.
Brother Rose is awesome, I've taken his 110 and 315 classes -- both have been great! Your grade is heavily based on attendance and participation which is easy because the classes are interesting. Definitely recommend!
It's one of the best classes I've taken so far! Brother Rose is super knowledgeable about the subject and is super engaging! 10/10 recommend!
I loved taking the Legislative Branch from Brother Rose. The Senate simulation was a blast, and I enjoyed the opportunities to participate and the different journal assignments for the class. Attendance is important, especially once the simulation starts. But if you show up and do the work, passing the class is a breeze.
Lowkey, I should've gotten an A, but that was my fault. We were allowed to retake quizzes, and I just didn't. Super chill professor and super easy class. Requires the textbook, but I didn't read from it once. There are some big assignments that take a bit of work, but outside of that, this class had no homework.
The class is a series of theory and case study readings that are then merely reviewed in class. The subject is marginally interesting, but the course is not structured in a way to draw that out but rather to get through content. Brother Rose is a great guy, but I just didn't feel I learned that much.
Professor Rose was a phenomenal lecturer and helped his students understand the material and do the best they could. He expertly designed assignments and conducted simulations so that we could get a grasp of what it's actually like to be a public administrator.
Brother Rose was great in class but the class structure outside of meetings was poor. I never new what we were supposed to be reading from the textbook and we never spoke about the specific things from the textbook that would be on the tests. Because of that, no matter how hard I studied, I could not internalize the facts and do well on the test.
I really like Brother Rose's class. I do recommend this class; however, it would be helpful if you were well-versed in politics and understood the terms. I would have a hard time following class discussions because I am not the most knowledgeable about politics. The assignments are good, and he gives good feedback on essays.
