Dr. Hood knows more about political science than I do about anything. He's a genuinely nice person when you talk to him. However, his tests are extremely hard and he is never clear as to what will be on them. The questions he asks are very ambiguous.

This teacher is rediculous. Yes, he knows everything there is to know about political science... the hard part is then when he decides to test you on knowledge not presented in class or clearly explained in the book. You will find him difficult to pay attention to, which makes note-taking very unsuccessful. Do not take his class!

No, this class was not hard. It was the structure that made it so difficult. The class only has FOUR tests that comprise your whole grade. Once you learn how to study you will do fine. I nearly missed an A in this class, yes it is possible, because the final was quite unfair. It had MANY questions from an in-class movie, which could not be studied.

When I took his class, the semester before me only received 8% A's. I thought his tests were tricky, considering the material is basic U.S. Government stuff. Although I personally enjoyed this class a lot, I see why he gets all the hate. Graded only by a midterm and final, with little to no guidance on what is covered. The final is not cumulative. There is no participation/attendance grade, but if you skip class you will have no clue what is going on. Not bad if you take good notes and go to class.

Prof. Hood is extremely disrespectful to his students. Not only are the midterm and final each 50% of your grade, but it is also two parts. His questions are extremely specific to his lectures/readings. His essay question was extremely specific to the details of the book we read. This professor should not be tenured at the University of Georgia.

Professor Hood's teaching style was not my favorite. His slideshows were extremely minimal and in order to pass the tests, you were required to be paying attention to minute details given within a specific moment of the class. his tests were extremely hard given MCQ's, short-response, and a essay were all required within 50 minutes.

If you are not a good test taker, I would not recommend this class. There are 4 tests worth your whole grade. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you have to go in order to do well, as he bases the exams on the lectures, so note-taking is super important! If you show up to class and take good notes, this class shouldn't be too difficult, though.

Unless you are willing to attend class every day, do NOT take this class. His lectures are long and often boring. To succeed, you have to record his lectures and write everything down. As for the textbook, he hardly uses it. He seems like a nice guy, but his monotone voice made lectures unbearable.

Overall not a terrible professor, not a terrible class. Lots of reading, and lots of lectures. If you need a class in high level pols - this one isn't terrible. I do want to caution you that there are only two grades in this course, that being the midterm and final. Would I take this class again - maybe. Overall I rate it a 6/10.

This class was very hard and entirely based on the midterm and the final exam, which each test being half of your final grade. The tests are heavily curved, which helps to soften the blow. For the midterm, he gave us very little to direct our study, but the final was better. He is also a very monotone lecturer, which made staying focused hard.

Overall I enjoyed this class. Attendance not mandatory but is def necessary. Take this class if you genuinely want to learn, but def not an easy A. Entire grade is 2 tests, but they are based mostly on the lectures. Reading is heavy but if you take detailed notes and pay attention, you don't have to read everything. Just study your notes

Impossible to get above a B on his tests and that is all you are graded on. All of the tests are things he said during lecture but SO specific. I am an all A's student and struggled in this class, also all of our class averages (before curves) were around a 60%, very frustrating for an American Gov class.

Always been a straight A student yet couldn't get an A in this class. Tests are impossible and uncurved class averages are normally in the 60s. He will curve average up to an 80, but normally doesn't help much. He's nice, but tests use his words verbatim, making it nearly impossible. Do yourself a favor and take it online.

He is awkward but friendly. He is often available after class, but he can't really help you better prepare for tests. His lectures exclusively make up the tests, an offhanded comment can become a question. If you want a good grade you need to essentially memorize everything.

Be ready to study hard, tests are kinda difficult. He only lectures and each test is worth 25% of your grade.

Genuinely avoid this professor at ALL COSTS. Four exams and one that's potentially 50% of your grade. He makes the exams himself based on the lectures. Exam questions make no sense and are made to confuse you.
