She is very very good, she is open to new opinions and ideas. She is patient with her students, and she doesn't rush into the topics. Very good teacher, TAKE HER! you'll regret if you don't.
You have to keep up with the work and do a lot of writing and revising. I learned a lot about how to write better and how to look at things more carefully. Lord is fair, but you have to work.
Professor Lord is a great teacher, yes you have work but it is worth it. I learned a lot in her class. She is very willing to help all you have to do is ask! I defiently recommend her
She is one of the best teachers on campus. You have to work for your grade in this class. You also learn a lot from her. Also very helpful. If you have any troubles with you essay, REMEMBER to track her down for help during her office hours! TAKE HER!
She is pretty good. I think I would prefer having coffee with her than taking her class. She is a cool lady but a bit tough in the class room.
She is the sweetest teacher in the world. She is very helpful and easiest english teacher i've had. Anyone can get an A in this class! I highly recommend her!

The best! This is my second time in English 1A. Because of her I am writing so much better.
she is a great teacher. she is easy to understand, and she is also very helpfull. I would like her to be my teacher again.
she picked GREAT material to read for women's lit! very laid-back class with a lot of group discussion. very easy class if you make the time to read. she's super helpful; she really wants to see you succeed!
She is a great teacher. I highly recommend her, she is the most helpful teacher I have had. Always willing to meet up after class if need extra help on papers! She is very nice!

she is very nice and very easy.
She is very nice and is willing to meet you after class and help you. She is very positive also. I recommend her to anyone.
She made the class very helpful. I hate english and she made it fun.
great teacher. Loves to help out all her students and also gets to know each one of her students. Highly recommended!
She plays favorites...big time. If you want to get a grade, just suck up and act passionate about lit.
I took her class online. It was probably one of the worst classes ever! She picket terrible material to read, soooo boring. She didn't tell the class how many points assignments were worth. Her lectures seemed to ramble and were pointless to me. I guess it was an easy class if you are on the discussion board every second. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Prof. Lord is the best English teacher I ever had. I learned a lot from her. She changed my opinion about writing. She chooses subjects that are interesting, so is her lecture. I highly recommend her. I hated writing before taking her class, I don?t any more. Take her class if you can, you will learn a lot and enjoy it.
Tricia is an awesome teacher..she lectures on pop culture and always keeps the class involved. You have to go to class and be expected to particiapte. She is great though!!!
she was a good teacher. we did a lot of group discussions and the class was pretty easy considering i hate english. i was always quite and she didn't pick on me which i liked. take her, she's cool. i got an A.
She's a helpful teacher. Class is fun. She's outgoing and teaches really well.
absolutly awesome, she is hip, easy to talk to, and very knowledgable. I wish she was teaching 1a. I recomment her highly
I hate this teacher I took her English 39 short story class online, she NEVER returned any of my emails and takes FOREVER to grade essays and such shes still weeks behind on grading so I may not get my final grade one time She is confusing about what she wants and doesnt answer your emails to help you clarify Take Neptune if you can way better prof
Boring class. Talks a lot but doesn't really teach you anything new. Never provided clear instructions on what she was looking for or how to improve your writing. So pretty much she was grading you on what you already knew not what you learned. Overall she's a really nice relaxed person. I liked her but not her class.
Took her online short story class Never graded anything on time Never gave feedback on your writing so you do not know what you should improve upon Unless you read EVERY single DB post she down grades you to a 6 out of 10 for the week Changes deadlines without any explanations Overall lazy teacher when it comes to online classes Take someone else
I felt that she was very clear as to what she expected from her students. She was very friendly and showed an interest in her students. Now, to the people who complained... putting in minimum effort = getting bad grade in class. O.O
Prof Lord is Amazing! She likes to do a lot of in-class workshops and gives the class additional reading material--just for fun. We used the textbook only a little--but it was necessary for our journal assignments.Very fun, sweet, and VERY CARING about her students! Writes nice comments on papers, too.
Prof. Lord is the BEST English prof. at Sierra. Readings are great and class discussions are fantastic.
She is a very helpful teacher, not lazy as some comments will say. She helps those who want to learn. Amazing teacher! I am taking her for the second time and will be taking a couple more of her classes.
Love Tricia, HIGHLY recommend her. She is extremely helpful and knows how to get the ideas flowing for your essays by her in-class workshops so your not stuck trying to decide what to write about. Creates a personal relationship with you and is always available to help. Would never consider anyone else for an English teacher.
She is wonderful. She is very helpful and cares about students. She is the best English teacher I have ever had. If you try your best, it will be an easy A. I took her for English 1A & 1B. I plan to take more classes with her in the future. Tricia is extreamly nice, take her class (Her classes fill quick!)
i cant say i learned anyhting from her. No tests, quizzes, or anything that was "taught". the class wasnt structured very well, there were next to no lectures, and with only 4 assignments, the grading scale is curved against you if you score low on 1 assnm. Like other people have mentioned, she is a great person but not a teacher.
Tricia is awesome!!!! I had her for 1A and 1B. She is current and extremely helpful. Tricia is one of the most interesting teachers I have ever had. She is not easy at all, but if you try hard and attend class she will work with you no matter how busy she might be. I finally understand how to write an affective essay.
She is very helpful and will help you with any of your papers to revise them for a better grade. She does have alot of reading and quizes but their not to hard. I loved her she was fantastic and kept the class interesting. Very FUN!!!
Class was good and I learned a lot. THERES A LOT OF READING. Assignments are pretty challenging but shes a sweet lady and you can redo some of them too. Study, abuse the school's free tutoring or writing center, and you'll get the grade you want. Highly recommend.
She is excellent, great sctructure, great books, helpful and most of all she knows and likes what she does and also shows great respect for the student.
She was great! There's a lot of reading (as there would be in most english classes) She quizzes the sections she asks you to read by the next class day so be sure to read the material! If you dont and fail any quiz she'll ask you to go home. Overall though she is great and loves her job and cares about her students.
Tricia Lord is the best english teacher I have ever had. She is very helpful and explains things very well. Of course there is a lot of reading but totally worth it because you have in depth class discussions which makes the class very interesting and worth going to. She was great!
A lot of readings.Hard grader teacher. Do not recomend for ESL students.Does not give re-write an assey on higher grade, only you can earn 9 points and stay in the same grade you got already.I have English 1A- A. But her class I failed.Lost time!!!
As an English major, I loved this class. She has excellent taste in literature, and I learned a lot. This is not an easy A class. You have to put in effort (as you should) and use your brain. Having said that, she is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Just follow the instructions and think about the assignments.
This class is really hard! She does not explain what she is looking so you just have to wing it and learn as you go. I went in every week to see her during office hours for feedback and she always seemed put out. Even though she was a great person but was a horrible teacher. The material we read was boring and 6 stories a week 30+ pages each.
I WASN'T EXCITED TO TAKE THIS CLASS BUT HER PRESENTATION AND KNOWLEDGE MADE THIS CLASS MY FAVORITE. SHE OPENED MY EYES TO LITERATURE. DO THE WORK AND COME TO CLASS AND YOU WILL DO FINE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HER FOR ANY CLASS.
Incredible teacher. I'm not one for English classes, but after taking her 1A class, I fell in love with the subject. I took her for 1B as well. She creates interesting assignments. Not too much "busy work", but expects students to work hard and participate in discussions.
A fun, knowledgeable English teacher who keeps the politics out of the classroom. I learned a ton in this class, and loved it!
Can't explain how much I truly adore this woman! She's so insightful and kind. There is a lot of reading but it was all worth it. I am always that student who NEVER reads or buys the books but this class has changed me! A couple essays and a few reading quizzes here and there, the class is easy and if you do the reading you'll be set.
Such a good instructor, wonderful woman. I feel I have learned more from her two classes then from any of my othr professors. She is very down to earth and realistic. The reading she assigns are very easy to read and ususally very intresting. You will defintly not regret taking her classes.
I ABSOLUTELY loved Tricia's class! She's very laid back, easy to talk to and only expects her students to do the work. There are lot of books to read, but stay on top of it as there are quizzes on the reading assignments. There's also in-class discussions & she encourages participation. If you run into a problem, she'll work with you! GREAT class!
WOW! I was not looking forward to this class, but thank goodness for Tricia! She has changed my perspective! There are lots of books to read, quizzes to follow, in-class discussions & essays but when you like your professor, you want to do good! You won't regret her class! Get in while you can! Love, love, loved it!
Tricia is the best! I have learned so much this semester and I had a great time. If you show up for class and keep up with the reading you will do great.
Tricia Lord is totally fantastic. She is passionate about writing and is very well-read. You workshop your stories in small groups. I am really awkward, but I found myself really enjoying sharing my work. It was inspiring hearing some really moving stuff from other students on occasion. This is the right class for a writer who wants to thrive.
Literally the best teacher i've ever had at sierra college. I'm not too crazy about english, but you go into her class and she just makes you love it and it's such a great class to be in. The books she picks are great, and the conversations she has with her students are amazing. TAKE THIS CLASS.
I LOVE Tricia Lord's class! Lectures are very detailed and thorough, class discussions are very exciting. The books relatively inexpensive which is nice. If you want a great English experience, take this class! Side note: Do NOT miss quizzes or participation activities because that will make your grade decline. Overall awesome class! :)
Unless you spend every spare second on her discussion board, Lord's class will be practically a nightmare for you. Very unclear with assignments and will often hide critical information within Canvas, leaving a lot of people in the dust. AVOID if you are on the autistic spectrum - this is not your teacher!
I took Prof. Lord for Doc Film, I highly recommend the class you'll spend most class time watching and discussing doc films. It's important to participate in class discussion but she won't put pressure on if you're shy. She gives thorough and clear feedback and cares about the success of her students.
Super sweet teacher who leads discussions well and try to keep the class involved!
A professor that enjoys teaching. She works well with students that are both interested and uninterested. The reading got a little excessive, but it's an English class so I can't complain. Good teacher nonetheless.
Tricia was a great English teacher! It was a lot of reading, but no final except for a last essay. Her lectures are amazing, and she was extremely available and very helpful. I recommend this class to anyone who is good at reading and writing, or anyone willing to learn about good reading and writing and is ready to work.
Tricia was a great Professor. Each week she gave very clear instructions, detailed lectures and next day feedback. Grades were back no later than a week. Discussion board makes up a large chunk of your grade, so don't skip it. She also took the time to suggest extra text that she thought some might enjoy... you can really tell this is her passion!
I loved Prof. Lord! She really cares about the subject and encourages her students to get involved. She's understanding and personable with all of her students, the material is also really interesting and made English 1B the most enjoyable for class me this semester. After having her as an instructor, you'll want to take one of her classes again!
Class wasnt too hard but still challenges you to be the best you can be. Professor cares about you as a person and will help in any way she can.
She is the coolest. Felt lucky to get her for this class. She is very helpful and loves her subject!
Grades 3x harder on the midterm and finals. Would expect certain things from you for these assignments (certain % of quotes, detailed responses on certain areas), but wouldnt tell you beforehand and was not in the rubric for the assignment. The class was not that hard, but her grading system and expectations were off.
I loved this Documentary Film class a lot more than I thought I would. Lord is an extremely powerful person on campus and she knows it. She's very caring and knows each student well. There's a whole lot of writing to do at home, but overall it was a pretty laid-back class and highly enjoyable aside from the overwhelmingly massive final paper.
I really learned a lot about how to read below the surface. Lectures and instructions were short and very clear, books were interesting and not too bad. Discussions are major- don't wait until the last minute! Lots of points awarded, pretty good feedback. Textbook reading is essentially optional. Not very flexible, though: things are strict.
I really enjoyed Professor Lords class! She was so helpful and gave back really good feedback. Being online was hard, but she helped her students and was very approachable.
Not supportive at all to her student's, doesn't help her students thrive. She expects a lot of you and takes grading why to serious.
Professor Lord is fantastic! You can tell she really values her students education over what grade they get, and her organization on online learning made her class easy to follow. It is an English class, so there is a lot of reading (mostly about war), but I found her prompts to be relevant and there were only three essays.
Tough grader on everything.
Lord was a good choice for me. English is not my best subject but she zoomed with me on paper drafts and I am a better writer now. She made the readings interesting. Responds fast. I ended up with an A. Best advice is stay on top of the reading and discussions. Go to her office zoom if you need any kind of help
Professor Lord is great. Her online class is straightforward and organized. There are a few papers and several books you need but all in all a solid class and kind professor who gives great feedback!
Loved Professor Lord! She was extremely helpful and supportive. This was an all online class so the discussion boards counted for the participation. It is very important to read all of the things given, they will set you up for success. Responds very quick and offers extra help if you ask for it!
very hard grader like over the top makes you buy at least 6 books(inconsiderate to ppl who have to pay for school themselves, unrealistic) assigns a lot of hw almost talked to you in a way that made you feel stupid didnt care for the attitude in her emails would never take a class with her ever again ruined my experience that semester
Overall great teacher, has 2 books and 3 short plays, so plenty of reading. 3-4 discussion boards a week, and three papers. Essays are worth a lot, but she gives plenty of feedback on them that help you know what she's looking for. Work load is light most of the time, super helpful in student hours if you want help on your paper or anything else.
Professor Lord truly makes you work for your grade, 2-4 long discussion posts that really test your critical thinking skills. Read 6 novels throughout the semester (3 books, 3 plays). You have 3 essays which are the majority of your overall grade. If you are triggered by sensitive topics such as rape, or war/injuries I would advise not to take her.
Class really helps with critical thinking. If you're poor, don't take this class because it's pretty pricy (3 books 3 plays). If you are triggered by war, sexual assault, and rape then DO NOT take this class, the books revolve around this. She grades kind of tough but she is SO specific with her comments on the two essays and 1 book review.
She gave me so much feedback on my papers. I learned a ton and am a much better writer because of this class. I am going to take her documentary film class in the fall. LOVED the readings!
Honest opinion here. Professor Lords' class has been a fun English class. She gives very good feedback and cares about her students. There are three essays and 2-4 discussion posts depending on the week and the lecture. She grades on a college level and is always willing to help. If you read and do the work on your own without google you'll pass.
I am an English major, and shes been among my favorite teachers Ive had! Clearly loves what she is doing and put so much thought/effort into her feedback even though she had so many classes at the time. There were two books/three plays, but only three essays throughout (manageable workload weekly)! Her taste in literature was incredible as well!
Professor Lord was wonderful. Anytime I had a question or needed help she was available. She always provided clear feedback which made improving future work easy throughout the semester. She was also very interactive with her grading which made things feel more connected even though the class was all online. 2 books, 3 plays. Be ready to read!
Professor Lord is the best instructor ever!
This course was amazing! Her feedback was solid and she offered office hours to discuss the reading and any questions you had. Easy to get a hold of and inspiring. The course was clear and well thought out. Loved reading in this class!
