She taught at Broward CC and comments can be found under that school. If you have registered for her class; save your $$ & drop it. She is truly NOT an instructor. She confuses herself in trying to explain (if she knows what she is teaching she certainly can't relay it to the class!) Highly recommend selecting another CHM instructor.
She does not seem to have a full understanding of what she is teaching. Therefore she is completely useless for providing assistance with the material. One of the worst instructors I have ever encountered.
i had previously taken a chemistry course and thought i would be fine to take this one..i was definatly wrong! she had no knowledge of what she was doing, and therefor was unable to explain anything. i would study for hours and still fail her tests. she also said to do hw, and shed never collect it. if you are smart, you will NOT take this course!
She has no idea what she is talking about. She makes mistakes all the time and when we tell her that she did one, she argues that she didnt then goes back 15 minutes later when everybody is confused and corrects it. I had taken a chemistry class before and i already know the material she teaches. If i didnt know what shes talking about id be lost.
she's not agood teacher and she refuses to answer students questions. one day i had the dean come to class to teach the class because she doesnt know what she's teaching. i think that was an embarassing for the dean to come and teach the class.
PLEASE!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS TEACHER--YOU ARE PUTTING YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE! IF YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR GPA AND WANT A HORRIED GRADE DO IT! BUT IF YOUR LOOKING TO ACHIEVE KNOWLEDGE AND AN "A" DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!! SHREVE IS SOO MUCH BETTER! HE IS THE BOMB! TAKE SHREVE...SHREVE...SHREVE. SHREVE..SHREVE!! NOT HER!!!!!!
WOW! Could possibly be the worst teacher I have ever encountered. Usually late to class and UNPREPARED! Tries to teach the foundation/fundamentals of Quantum Phsyics using a powerpoint presentation for each lecture. Waste of my money and my time. No Biology graduate could even pass her class with an A. Kriegar is bad... Sellars is HORRIBLE!:(
this is the worst professor in my life, she doesn't know what she is talking about. i don't know why PBCC still keeps her.

She is a really bad professor, you won't learn a thing and you will get a bad grade. She doesn't know the material, she can't explain anything, she is rude. DON'T WASTE YOU TIME AND MONEY WITH HER.
if u have a choice, don't take chm2210l with her...he is not good...even if u do very well on the lab report and quizz but if u fail the final ...u will fail...she also said" everybody just need a C for 1 credit", so u may get a C if u try really hard, no matter what u try...u can't get a good grade...
Simply put.. she is a bad teacher. She does not care if her students do not learn the material. If you ask questions, she gives a bad attitude and argues with you. Many people dropped out or failed her class. She runs through information that you need to know and does not go back to it even if you ask her. DONT TAKE HER!!!!!!!
I've never regretted taking a class as much as I have hers. Avoid at all costs.
I agree with everyone else. This is one the worst teachers I ever had. Its her goal to fail you. Even if you had a 69 on your total grade, she wont give you the extra point so you can pass her class.
I?m not one to complain about Professors s or post thing on rate my professor but this might by far be the worst professor I?ve ever had. She did not know what she was doing and her teaching was not consistent. I had to personally teach myself the things from the book. Majority of the times the things on the test weren?t even taught in class. DON
This lady should not be teaching n more. she didnt know what she was doing and students werent learning in her class. she is BAD news
Lab- after reading comments on here I was terrified but with all honesty she is by far more helpfull than my Chem1&2 professors. She may come off as rude, but that is in reply to ppl not paying att. These labs are super easy and although she grades tough no pre-labs are due before, and quizes are easy. Deff would take her again.
This was the only professor still available when I signed up. I wish I had just waited another semester.
I would have rather fallen off a building than endured a semester with this professor. She is rude and can't teach for her life. DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE!!!
Chill out, everyone. Had I not already taken this class, I would have thought she was the spawn of Adolf Hitler. She's not that bad. She does tend to grade on irrelevant aspects of our lab reports such as grammar when you're taking Chemistry. In the end, if you're a hard worker, you'll receive a good grade. I received an "A" and it was a cakewalk.
My summer chm1032 class loved her. She is a kind, funny, and AMAZING professor! Anyone that gives her a negative comment on here is LAZY & must not have studied. She answers questions before, during, & after class for you. She even hands out study reviews & practice exams! I would definitely take her again! She loves what she does & it shows. :)
I LOVE PROFESSOR SELLARS! She is so sweet. She will help you. Don't be afraid to approach her. She is absolutely willing to help! Do the home work. Do the steps as she shows you and you will do great!
Prof. Trineshia Sellars is an awesome teacher. She knows her stuff and knows how to impact knowledge. I will take her again and again and again. Simply put, Sellars is a good teacher. She is one of the best this summer 2013 - BO
Professor Sellars is a great teacher, I really enjoy her class. She makes sure that help is providing to us in order for us to understand & succeed in CHM1032. If you choose to don't used it, it's ok just don't blame her. Blame it on yourself. Prof. Sellars is a very kind, nice, & joyful teacher to have. I really love prof Sellars God bless her
Prof. Sellars is an wonderful teacher who cares about her students. Those who talk negatively about her have issues within themselves. They are lazy and spoiled little children who think that everything is going to be done for them. Wake up people you are in college now! Time to grow up!
I came on here and read some horrible reviews. I was nervous, but decided to keep her class. In only 6 weeks, she went over 13 chapters in the clearest way possible and she had great power points. Professor Sellars was very approachable and relates to her students. Her class isn't easy, but if you study and pay attention, you'll be fine.
There are bad teachers and horrible useless teachers. She is one of the latter one. She doesn't give the tests back, she also is VERY unclear when she lectures.
Do NOT take her. She goes nice and slow and explains everything the first half then realizes she is behind the second half she speeds through everything and you end having to teach yourself 2 chapters. She is a terrible professor.I studied really hard but it didn't matter half the stuff on the test she didn't go over in class or found in the book.
She gives ridiculously hard quizzes that were based on her lecture class... in lab. This was infuriating, and the majority of the class did horrible on them. I somehow ended up with an A, so there must have been a severe curve...
She is a very good professor, however if you are not willing to do something in the class don't take her.
I took her for both of my Chemistry class CHM 1025 and CHM 1045. She was really helpful.
Just a terrible professor. Avoid at all costs.
Take Her! Its not an easy subject but if you pay attention and ask her questions, you can survive the course. I was surprised, I received a "B" in the course. Do the homework, take notes, attend the review sessions and you'll pass the class.
She is a really hard teacher and talks very fast. If you are not some what familiar with chemistry I would not recommend taking her.
Never really liked chemistry so I rarely took this class seriously.I would only cram before the test but Averaged a B throughout the class.I got an A because she drops one test and replaces that with the final, plus she gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit. She answers every question and spends a lot of time on homework if you ask her.
SHE IS A REALLY GOOD CHEMISTRY TEACHER, BUT KNOW HOW TO APPROACH HER. THE BEST TIME TO APPROACH HER IS AT THE START OF CLASS OR AFTER CLASS. INITIALLY SHE SPENDS A LOT OF TIME ON THE CORE MATERIAL(CHP 1-5). LEARN THIS WELL, PRACTICE ALL THE QUESTIONS AT THE END OF EACH CHPT, AND READ AHEAD BECAUSE SHE MOVE FAST TOWARDS THE END. YOU WILL BE FINE!
This professor starts the semester nice and slow, then as soon as she realizes she is behind she speeds up the class. When you ask her a question she is immediately frustrated and expects you to know what she is teaching. I do not recommend this professor. She lays out the power points and expects you to understand without questions.
LOTS of homework, which is necessary and she gives extra credit for it . Not many test items, so the point value per question is high. Goes very very fast after the mid-term. Needs to work on her pacing. Makes chemistry approachable and less scary, but to pass you will need to find outside instruction - hire a good tutor. Wouldn't take again.
I really enjoyed this class and professor. She made chemistry fun if that is even possible. It was allot of work but doable if you stay up on the material. She gives homework every class and gives extra credit for it. She does begin slow and speeds up towards the end to cover all the material. Tests are fair. I would take again if I had to.
If you read and look over the powerpoint slides before class, you will pass the class with ease.
Don't take summer express, biggest mistake of my life. Speaks way too fast and goes over the material super fast.
Worst chemistry teacher ever met. Doesnt go over quizzes or exams so you could know how to do the problems you got wrong. Rushes through course material like crazy. Answers questions with a question, I would not recommend this teacher to anyone!
The class was alright. I took principles of chemistry in 6weeks & was glad to leave. I didn't want to stay with this prof. too long. She is rude and i basically taught myslef out of the book. she gives review packets before each test. Hw is extra credit. she goes fast & expects you to come to the board & answer questions you just learn 2 mins ago
I took the express 6 week course with her for the lab and I hated every second of it. I'm a straight A student and I got an A in the lecture with another prof and she gave me a B. I worked so hard and her grading is very specific and she takes points off of irrelevant things. She's unclear and reports are 10+ pages. Also gives a final exam.
Do not take her!!! She talks extremely fast and she make you feel dumb if you ask questions. She assigns a lot of homework but doesn't collect it, but she does randomly checks to see if you did it . She will also randomly call you up to the board to do example problems. She doesn't let know your grades or when test are. Switch out if you can!
Professor Sellars is extremely difficult. When you ask a question she will tell you to come to her office during her "Office hours" and go to her SI he will explain it better. The tests, oh god please do the practices in the book or else you will fail. Her lectures are very confusing, will never take again. Retaking chm for my own good
drop it, or else prepare for failure
This is the first class I have EVER failed. Although the HW is optional and is not graded, it is in your best interest to do it in order to pass. The tests are very hard. She replaces lowest test grade with the final, which still did not help my grade. She assigns online HW that is hard and grades based on actual scores. I DO NOT reccomend her!
For the first half of the semester this class was great, she went at an easy pace and took the time to teach. However, after SHE had to miss two weeks of class, she did a complete 180, and just threw information at the class instead of teaching. She also would not give answers to reviews at the end.
Please don't take her . I failed her class now I have to retake chemistry again . She starts off the semester slow then at the end she goes super fast to the point where she's trying to explain a whole chapter in one hour . She do not know how to explain will . Her test are super hard
Professor Sellars knows the material well, but she speeds through her powerpoints when teaching. Even though the material will be confusing at first, it starts making sense after she goes over problems and such. She offers lots of extra credit, and her tests are usually fair enough (sometimes a little tough). The class overall is alright.
I took her online class, and she has no lecture videos, just vague slides that don't really explain anything. And then when you get to the quiz and test, she expects you to know things that were never in the slides. On top of that, her discussion questions are vague and quite frankly ridiculous.
The professor is awful. She doesn't care about her students, she's unorganized and her notes are confusing. Don't bother to ask her questions because she won't answer them until days after you figure out the problem on your own. She doesn't read your assignments and just grades them without bothering to finish reading them. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES!
Mrs. Trineshia Sellars knows Chemistry like the back of her hand. Must not fall behind stay ahead of assignments will help you stay ahead and she has a SI that will go over things in detail for you if something was not clicking in class.
Mrs. Trineshia Sellars knows Chemistry like the back of her hand. Must not fall behind stay ahead of assignments do the extra credit it will help out for sure.
HORRIBLE she teaches so fast just throws info at you and when you ask questions she gets irritated that you don't understand. Her notes are very confusing and she goes back and fourth on lectures that makes it very confusing. Dont bother emailing of texting her for help because she won't answer like she said she would would not take her again!!
Chemistry is really not my thing. That being said I got a 78 in this course. A good grade is possible if you can devote time to the lectures and assignments. The lectures are LONG. Each unit is a power point, assignment, discussion, and exam.
Sellars has the best intent in her to allow her students to pass, but she is not a very good teacher. She spoke way too fast and assumed everyone already knew what she was talking about. her grades are all exams and all homework is extra credit. Also she can be intimidating at times.
She knows alot about chemistry i'll give her that but she is really so hard. This was the worst class i've ever taken!! Get prepared to teach yourself because she goes over things way too fast and expects you to know things already. without the SLC and the extra credit she gives i never would have passed.
She is not a good professor. First off, she moves very fast and expects a tremendous and unreasonable amount of work from her students, without making the same effort to help us with the work she expects. On top of this, she takes days to respond to her emails, which I feel is super unprofessional for a professor. Avoid her if you can!
From all my classes, this is the worse professor I ever encountered ! My GPA is 4.0. I study hard, don't miss class. If there is a way of making things hard, she will ! Doesn't connect with students. She can't break things down in a understandable way to the students. Uses onky, PHD terminology, if you can't teach your self, skip this class.
If you have any math anxiety or are a slower learner do not take her. I had to drop the class with no refund. I was not going to go through anymore writing math problems on the board and feeling humiliated because I wasn't taught properly. Unfortunately, it seems she is one of the only professors available for this level of chemistry.
Sellars is an good teacher, although i do see the disconnect. But she gives us worksheets during class to work in groups and those help a lot. HW is due on the day of the tests. Going to the SI really helps too and you get extra credit on your tests. She uses edition 5 a lot more than 6 so save your money!
Get ready to fail if you decide to take this professor! Is extremely rude to her students and refuses to repeat herself. Get ready to teach yourself!!
She's a good person and is very knowledgable about Chemistry. She just goes wayyy to fast and its hard to keep up. Her notes don't make sense most of the time because she does not teach in order. If you're a fast learner then this may be a good professor for you.
She often cancels class and speeds through everything as a result. Its very hard to keep up with her and she gets irritated if you are confused. She is hilarious, energetic and definitely caring. You need to read the chapter before class. Do the homework before class as you read the chapter so you don't get lost. Hw counts as EC. You'll need it.
She speeds through all of the material and then gets upset and yells if someone is confused. Chemistry is already a difficult subject and she isnt trying to help her students succeed. On the bright side, shell drop your lowest test grade. dont take this professor though. keep looking
Expects a lot from students. STUDY, see TUTORS, read on your own and do ALL the homework which counts for extra credit, that way you'll come to class prepared for her lectures. She moves quickly and the PowerPoint's are slightly difficult to match with the textbook (I used 6th edition). The tests don't reflect material covered material often.
Horrible. She did not give clear grading criteria. Always marks off for things she picks out of the blue sky. Horrible direction. Tough/unfair grader.
Our class had her for a 6 week period. 1 test/week. It really was rushed, when you asked her a question she always did answer for you. Hit or miss with email responses. You need to go to SI & do all the HW (its EC). She doesnt trick you on tests. I feel if it was a 12 week class it wouldve been fine. Studying is a must.
Worst lab professor I've ever had. Gives no guidelines as to what is expected on the homework or tests. Takes off points for random and senseless reasons. Whenever anyone asks for help or has a question about the lab, she replies with "Should've read." or "Read and you'll find out.". Avoid taking this professor.
This professor just should not be teaching. It is clear she has no passion to teach and does not explain anything. Chemistry is already hard, and it really matters how it is taught and explained to you.
This professor was good and bad. She cares about her students, yet uses confusing wording, does not answer questions well, etc. She has good powerpoints and gives lots of homework for extra credit. Although she is tough, she does want you to succeed. If you can, take someone else, but if this is a last minute choice, she gets the info across ok.
Shes honestly a good professor. She grades on few things so, do well on the tests. Theyre easy & multiple choice. Just pay attention & ask as many questions as you want, shes very nice, caring & funny too. She gives a lot of homework but its ALL extra credit. It helped me a lot in the end, do it, its worth it, raised me from a low C to a B.
She is honestly a good prof. She cares, she just grades on a few things and explains things in difficult ways often. Must read and put work in outside of class. Homework is EC, do it! Got an A by taking my own notes before class, paying close attention and taking notes in class, and studying after. Would recommend her!
She made chemistry easy to learn, despite me having difficulties with chemistry
Each week, there is a discussion post (10pts), focus concept assignment (10pts), online homework (10pts) and a practice quiz (extra credit). There is an exam biweekly for a total of 6 exams plus the cumulative final. She gives up to 40 pts extra credit at the end of the term. She is very helpful and an amazing prof. Get ready to work!
Don't take this professor you will thanks me later!
WORST. TEACHER. EVER. NOT CLEAR ON GRADING. VERY CONFUSING AND DOESNT EXPLAIN ANYTHING CLEARLY. NOT UNDERSTANDING AT ALL. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER AT ALL I WOULD RATE ZERO START HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
worst class ever she doesn't explain anything and i swear i have freaked out about this class too much. Dont even bother trying to take this class with her this is a failing class. her tests also include nothing from material and are worth 13% each
She is not explicit in her teaching, it's an online class therefore she needs to be very clear in her explanations. You are unsure what you are being graded for. Also, the feedback provided is very limited.
This class is not an easy ride. The final three modules got even harder towards the end of the course. It is a lot of work! The lecture doesn't really help, they lacking content, but it is doable if you are willing to read and teach yourself.
friendly.
The lectures were a fragment of what was on the actual test. The tests and most of the homework are through Pearson. I recommend reading the actual textbook as tests and homework will be based on the text. And be ready to teach yourself a good portion of the material b/c shes not that good at explaining, she reads from the powerpoints.
Don't bother.
Took all my classes online as I work full time and had no problem with any of my courses, except for this one. I have taken Chem 1 before so I was familiar with a lot of the material, yet it still took me several hours to complete just the homework assignments. Also incorrectly graded some of my work and was rude when I emailed her about it.
She was a vary nice teacher. She seemed to really care if you understood the material. The problem was the homework... there was so much and some of it was super difficult to do. It caused me to be really stressed because there was so much of it. The tests were all online and the answers were all online so that saved me tremendously.
Answers questions clearly and quickly. Helps when you ask.
Boatload of homework every single week. Doesn't respond to emails. This professor tries her hardest to make sure students dont pass her class. Do yourself a favor and register for a different class.
I don't recommend anyone to take this professor for Chemistry. Be ready to spend hours on numerous assignments of homework. The professor doesn't extend deadlines and is a tough grader. The only benefit of this professor is that she will substitute the final grade with the result of your lowest exam.
she is very understanding. giving us more time to do homework. during her lettures she does expect participation. give practice quizzes to help with test.
Honestly don't know why her reviews are so bad. She gives 4-5 assignments per week, all are doable. Do the work with effort and you will pass with an A/B. She is nice as long as she sees effort being put in. Only downside to this class was the expensive textbook in the beginning that is needed for the class. Overall would take it again!
Added the class, yet she DID NOT want to allow ANY time to make up the first few assignments. Not clear on assignments, but nitpiks when grading.Cancelled Zoom because she "did not receive an agenda"(not asked for or required) I had SURGERY&she told me that she would not give credit for late work, although she did not open assignments in advance. RUN
Avoid this lady at All Costs. Do yourself that favor if you want a life. I didn't show work on 1 question, ONE QUESTION Trineshia sellers decided to give a Zero on the whole paper. All in the name of “there is no partial credit for this assignment.” There are so many things wrong with this lady, it is Absurd.
Please avoid taking her class. You have to pay for a $120 book as a requirement. She gives out a lot of book homework, which doesn't count towards your grade. If you want to pass her class, get good grades on all the exams.
This professor is horrible; she is very hard to reach, and she lied about test extra credit opportunities. There were questions on tests for extra credit, but she never graded them. When emailed about the extra credit, she never replied. Do not take her classes!
An extremely poor communicator, and will not admit when she is wrong/having technical difficulties. She requires mathematical work shown on some dimensional analysis for exams. I completed one at a 92.5% w/ mathematical calculations submitted & she gave me a 0 on the entire exam due to a handful of answers on my mathematical work not being circled.
Professor Sellars may seem Tough, but she actually cares. She starts of tough to see who is gonna stick it through, but comes through hard core for those that stick it through man. We went from a low B to a A, when she gave the class extra credit at the end. Make sure you do all Practice quizzes and Assignments regardless of grade.
This professor dropped me from the course because I didn't complete the attendance verification. It was due before I enrolled in the class during add drop. Now I'm trying to somehow get into a chemistry course in like the 3rd week of the semester.
